The ideas presented by José Eusebio Caro in his unfinished work entitled Social Mechanics or Theory of Human Movement, Considered in its Nature, in its Effects and in its Causes, in 1836, collects characteristic aspects of the thought of the first decades of the 19th century, with roots, some of them in previous times. The intellectual richness of the work in question induced analytical research, of which this document reports, according to the following research question: What are the predominant epistemological features in the philosophical and sociological theses of José Eusebio Caro, in his posthumous work unfinished work entitled Social mechanics or theory of human movement, considered in its nature, in its effects and in its causes? The study of this work focuses on specifying epistemological aspects of a proposal that shares honors with positivism and the emergence of social theory whose theses give way to the emergence of sociology. This, in a particular century characterized by the search for the ideological and political originality of the American continent, which hoped to re-emerge far from Spanish domination and close to French theorists and the ideological developments of England.
