The article reports on the survey made by information technology (IT) security experts of Tufin Technologies in London, England among college and university students who committed computer crimes such as hacking. The survey, which is supported by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), states that 84% of the respondents have admitted that hacking is illegal, 32% think it is cool, and 22% do it out of curiosity. Furthermore, hacking can be prevented by firewalls and updated passwords.

The article reports that the Nottinghamshire NHS Trust is rolling out technology to give its 6,500 staff secure remote access to medical records and other hospital systems. The trust said the system would improve patient care by allowing clinicians to update records immediately following a consultation. The trust has invested in a Citrix Client Access Gateway, which allows staff to access computer systems from a remote PC via an internet browser. This article focuses on the Intranet Benchmarking Forum (IBF) which was set up in London, England in 2002 by Paul Miller, the founder and managing director of the Empowerment Group. The basic idea behind the IBF is to develop some quantitative benchmarks for intranets that will enable large corporations to gain a sense of how their intranets stack up against a range of similar firms, in terms of size and organizational complexity. In addition to its benchmark review, IBF provides members with access to an extranet containing targeted content. A final ray of hope for the emerging potential for benchmarking is the Nielsen Norman Group report, which reviews the designs and usability of ten intranets chosen from a much larger number of nominated designs.
