Chapter 5 of the book "African Women and ICTS: Investigating Technology, Gender and Empowerment" is presented. It examines the potential use of the Internet to market women's handicrafts in Egypt. One information and communication technology (ICT) that promotes the use of the Internet among low-income groups in Egypt is ArabDev. Electronic commerce begun in Egypt in 2005 with the establishment of electronic-signature systems, which is also considered significant for electronic financial transactions.
