B Background: b B Background: b B Background: b The aim of this study was to review the surgical complications of conventional open thyroidectomy (OT) in surgical oncology department, SECI, 7 years' experience B Materials and Methods: b Patients and Methods: Between January 2010 and January 2017, 241 patients who had underwent thyroidectomy for different thyroid pathologies were enrolled. The predictors of post thyroidectomy complications were advanced age >= 60 years (P= 0.003*), prior thyroid surgery (P < 0.001*), and neck dissection with total thyroidectomy (P= 0.01*) by univariate analysis. B Conclusions: b B Conclusions: b Neck dissection with total thyroidectomy is safe with acceptable surgical outcome, hypocalcaemia is the most frequent post thyroidectomy complications, and advanced age and prior thyroid surgery are the only significant predictors for complications.
