The article provides an account of the unusual circumstances governing the household of Philip Robertson Sr., grandfather of Sister Margaret Fraser, a Benedictine nun of Pincethorpe Priory near Rugby in England. The unusual circumstances of the Buchan mission-station over several decades are described. The central episode of the account begins in 1749 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
