The article reports on a survey concerning the status of the defence and aerospace companies in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). It cites the ongoing privatisation process which has been significantly delayed and has come to grinding halt. It also further stresses on the heavy financial losses that has been accumulated by individual businesses as well as the resulting disinterest among potential buyers to acquire companies together with their debts.

The article focuses on the tanks developed in China and Eastern Europe. It is inferred that Russia has sufficient knowledge in manufacturing materials for the development of tanks. It states that Ukraine is the only country in Eastern Europe which has wide knowledge and skills for devising active protection measures. It highlights the growth in the investments for armoured vehicle technology in China.
