The article presents a sinkhole field experiment in the Eastern Alps, which include Austria's Hetzkogel Plateau and the Gruenloch area. Meteorological observations from a high-altitude limestone sinkhole improve understanding of minimum temperatures in basins and temperature inversion formation. A graph details the ridge-crest elevation as a function of distance clockwise around the periphery of the Gruenloch Sinkhole. A table presents the outflow depth, diameter, drainage area, and mean slope angle of five dolines.
