The article presents the author's views on how should governments from across the world cope with climate change. In order to prevent the occurrence of catastrophic tipping points, the author stresses the need to effectively manage key Earth System processes which should be done urgently. He adds that governments should reach a substantive global agreement at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in Denmark on greenhouse-gas emissions.
