Abstract

The article describes four pediatric cases of neurologic complications linked with novel influenza A (H1N1) virus infection admitted to hospitals in Dallas County, Texas from May 18 to 28, 2009. Signs manifested by the patients, who were between the ages of 7 to 17 years old, include influenza-like illness (ILI) and altered mental status. Three of the four patients had abnormal electroencephalograms (ECG), and H1N1 was seen in the nasopharyngeal specimens of all patients. Noted implications of the cases are highlighted.
