The article deals with problems of papers degradation by reason of acidity with reference to the legal duty of libraries to preserve papers funds for the future generations. In lots of efforts to protect its collections, the Moravian library study all the preservative technology including of the mass deacidification technology. The merit of this text is a summarization of project efforts of the Moravian library and the National archives make up the papers protection to deacidification technology in the Czech Republic. The article warms that the acidity of paper research and its conservation depends fully on political environment and the sufficient financial resources. Known chemical processes (degradation of woodpaper) and other degradation elements force all libraries with preservation collections to participate in various national grant programs (such as the national program ,,Public Library and Information Services" - PLIS), supranational programs (such as grants from EU) or those organized out of EU (such as FM EHP/Norway). The Research Library in Olomouc demonstrated interest in the last grant (EEA/Norwegian Financial Mechanism) in 2006. The library succeeded with the project Digimon - Digitization and Microfilming of Moravian Newspapers in April 2008. The core of the project is conversion of selected newspapers into a microfilm form and a subsequent selective digitization. Ca 600 000 pages will be converted into a microfilm form and 50 000 pages should be digitized. Periodicals for a protective reformatting were chosen not only from the viewpoint of their degradation, but also from the reason of considering an early Moravian national revival period or ethnic divisions within 60th-70th of the 19th century. The entire project Digimon should be completed in April 2011 and the reformatting center should continue in protective reformatting and selective digitization, so that the preservation collection of periodicals of the Research Library in Olomouc was saved and a comfort for readers improved.
