The preliminary results of the recording and docu mentation of three new stations of Cuban rock art are made known here, recently discovered in the high-lands of the Imías Natural Reserve, in the southern coast of the province of Guantánamo. Even though the work of exploration of this territory is not completed, this first communication was considered timely, because of the transcendence of the knowledge and dissemination of such historic-archaeological elements, being located in a protected area that has the most important management category of those established in Cuba by the National System of Protected areas, and the first category of those recommended by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. The Reserve of Imías, with an outstanding and recognized natural patrimony, now acquires, with this discovery, a valuable cultural significance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
