Abstract

The article focuses on Connecticut ratified the Constitution early and by a wide margin as such, one would expect that Connecticut's Federalists would discuss foreign policy in mainly nationalist terms, as was the case in other heavily Federalist states, without having to concede to local interests. Topics include Connecticut Federalists used foreign policy in three ways, and the foreign policy was framed as a state or broader New England interest.
