We must learn to work with the system. Unfortunately, today's coding is such that you cannot leave this to your coding clerk, as many of us have done in the past. The specificity of the new system will demand that the physician be actively involved in coding of all E/M services. One must consider using all levels of codes. The person who learns to correctly work with the system and charge correctly for services rendered will be better paid and run less risk of denials and penalties. So much to say and so little space to say it.
