The aim of this article is to reflect on the trajectories of the political reform in Ivan Duque’s administration based on studies of political reform to determine its limits and potentialities in the context of the Colombian political system. To this end, texts on party systems and electoral systems were addressed, highlighting their components as pillars for analysis and taking the monitoring reports of the Observatory of Political Parties as comparison points. Initially, the methodology used the historical-empirical method and then scanning of political processes. Although significant progress has been made in the field of political reform since the enactment of the 1991 Constitution to date, there are still a number of crucial issues on the agenda to advance the political modernization of Colombia, for example, the validity of the preferential vote. This article examines how the Papel Periódico Ilustrado (Illustrated Newspaper) was part of the Colombian Nation-State reconfiguration process promoted by the Regeneration. It argues that the History section printed historiographic texts and visual representations which contributed to structuring a new viewpoint of the nation's present, characterized by three temporal dimensions: of the present as a double allusion to the past and from the present to the future, anchored In tradition.
