Objective: To determine the prevalence of diseases related to sleep disorders in minors treated in health institutions in the city of Cali during 2017. Materials and methods: Population-based observational study of period prevalence. A secondary database provided by the Municipal Public Health Secretariat of the city of Santiago de Cali - Colombia was used, information derived from the Individual Registers of Service Provision (RIPS) corresponding to the year 2017. Population formed by minor patients that consulted during the period, all the available data was used. Results: Of the total of diseases related to the specialty of ENT (24716) treated in Cali, it was found that 34.3% (n = 8487) corresponded to those related to sleep disorders in minors. Being more prevalent in the male sex (57.25%). The main diagnosis was adenoids hypertrophy (37.94%), followed by nasal turbinates hypertrophy (34.46%). The children under 6 years old (62.07%) were the most affected. Conclusion: Sleep disorders in childhood and adolescence prevail mainly in children who are starting their school life, specifically preschool and primary. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
