Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study is to compare the perceptions of employed people in Mexico and Colombia about managerial and leadership behavioural effectiveness. Design/methodology/approach: A qualitative multiple cross-case and cross-nation comparative analysis of findings obtained from the two past emic replication (Mexico and Colombia) studies was conducted. Findings: The study suggests that people within Mexican and Colombian organizations perceive "managerial and leadership behavioural effectiveness" in very similar ways. The findings support those researchers whose studies indicate that culture may not, as previously thought, play a significant role in the way managers should manage and lead their subordinates. Research limitations/implications: The authors acknowledge two main limitations related to the sample size and scope of the two compared sets of empirical source data. The number of critical incidents about perceived managerial behavioural effectiveness obtained from the two compared studies was unbalanced (318 from the Mexican study and 267 from the Colombian study). Thus, the authors suggest more indigenous replication managerial behaviour studies be carried out in both Mexico and Colombia with the objective of identifying (if possible) the existence of critical incidents that could lead to different findings. Furthermore, the authors suggest conducting replica studies focused on specific industries rather than a diverse range of organizations to test the generalizability of the findings. Practical implications: The findings of the comparative study are relevant to those human resource development professionals in international companies with operations in Mexico and/or Colombia when preparing their executives for international assignments in these Latin American countries. Originality/value: The comparative study attempts to generate new insights and better understanding within the context of "managerial and leadership behavioural effectiveness" research, which the authors hope will make a useful contribution to the existing small body of knowledge regarding similarities and differences in managerial practices across culturally diverse Latin American countries.

Tourism has impacts on the way territories develop, primarily driven by uses associated with the ownership of a second home or the creation of recreational spaces that do not directly benefit the native population but rather cater to tourists. In the areas surrounding Bogotá, the planning instruments of medium and small municipalities lack the basic criteria to address a balance between economic development and sustainable land use. This prompted an investigation focused on documentary analysis, cartography, construction permits, administrative acts, regulations, and field observations. The impacts on territorial occupancy related to tourism development in Anapoima were identified, and recommendations were formulated to improve living conditions resulting from the sustainable tourism development in the municipality. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify what Colombians perceive as effective and least effective/ineffective managerial behavior. Design/methodology/approach: This study was conducted following a qualitative methodology based on the philosophical assumptions of pragmatism and the "pragmatic approach" (Morgan, 2007). The critical incident technique was used to generate data from a purposive sample of 27 managers and non-managerial employees located in Medellin and Bogota, Colombia. Findings: The results of this study suggest that effective managers in Colombia are those who are supportive, caring, considerate, participative, understanding, communicative and flexible, and are also good problem solvers. Research limitations/implications: This study focused on the perceptions of Colombian managers and non-managerial employees only. Therefore, the description of effective and least effective/ineffective managers in Colombia could be highly value-laden from the national cultural perspective. Hence, it is recommended that further research should be carried out to explore the perceptions of international managers who have frequently interacted or worked with Colombian managers. Originality/value: The results of this study have practical implications for Colombian managers and international managers who manage the Colombian workforce. For Colombian managers, this study provides insight into what is considered effective or least effective/ineffective managerial and leadership behavior. The findings provide useful information on foreign multinational corporations (MNCs) that have operations in Colombia. MNCs can use the results of this study to create effective management development models for their expatriates in Colombia.

The COVID 19 pandemic has resulted in the generation of new dynamics at the social and economic level; among which stands out what is related to work stress of people who return to their jobs after preventive confinement. In this way, the present study seeks to define the effects of work stress in hotel companies in the city of Sincelejo during the post-pandemic era. At the methodological level, a quantitative study with a descriptive level is described, in which a Likert scale questionnaire related to the effects of work stress from the psychological, physical and emotional aspects is applied to a sample of 53 collaborators belonging to 20 companies in the hotel sector from the city of Sincelejo (Colombia). The results found in the study show the presence of the effects of work stress within the workers involved in the collection process; especially in emotional and physical stress. Based on the findings, it is possible to conclude that currently within the tourism sector there is a presence of work stress and its effects; a fact that could be accentuated by the personal and social consequences of COVID 19, which not only affected the health of people but has also generated an adverse effect on companies in sectors such as tourism due to the drop in tourism worldwide in previous years. Introduction: Mammography quality is directly related to the ability to detect an abnormality and, therefore, quality control is necessary for diagnostic imaging centers. Objective: To evaluate image quality, reading, and mammography service in some diagnostic imaging centers in Manizales, Colombia. Materials and methods: Four diagnostic imaging centers participated voluntarily in the study under confidentiality agreements. Out of 520 women attending the centers, 318 had a mammography. The infrastructure, technology, and human resources of each unit were evaluated based on visual inspections. A radiologist expert in reading and clinical interpretation of mammary images evaluated the quality of the image and the reading. We made the statistical analysis using anova, the kappa index, and the percentage of disagreement. Results: We found images of diminished quality mainly due to the presence of artifacts in 75 % of those evaluated, as well as non-compliance with identification criteria and image labeling. There were difficulties in taking the lateral median oblique projection given the absence of the inframammary. The level of agreement in the BI-RADS reporting was low in the four centers with important differences in the report and description of findings. Conclusion: The city’s diagnostic centers under evaluation are authorized for their operation. However, there are important deficiencies in image quality and reading, which highlights the need to seek quality standards starting from those aspects that can be improved upon.

Objective: Ascertaining factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding until the sixth month in teenage mothers included in SISBEN system levels I and II in the city of Medellin., Methodology: This was a case-control study which included 323 teenage mothers, involving 197 cases and 126 controls for the "Buen comienzo había una vez -BCHV" (good start) strategy. Univariate analysis involved using descriptive statistics; a correspondence analysis was also made. Qualitative variables were compared using contingency tables and the Mann-Whitney U test was used for quantitative variables having non-normal distribution. Logistic regressions was used to identify factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding until the sixth month. Kapplan-Meier curves were made for the duration of breastfeeding and for the significant variable in the model. The attributable risk to which the population was exposed was calculated, as were population attributable risks., Results: 27.9% of teenage mothers in the sample managed exclusive breastfeeding until the sixth month. Average maternal age was 17.56 years. Logistic regression analysis revealed that the time spent involved in the strategy and education following the birth of a child for those belonging to a nuclear family were associated with a longer duration of breastfeeding., Conclusions: The duration of exclusive breastfeeding in the teenage mother population could be extended, emphasizing continuity and the type of education received by being in the program.
