Purpose: Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent neoplasm in women in Colombia and is associated with a higher mortality rate than in other countries and regions. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) has become a standard treatment in locally advanced BC and provides an opportunity to improve clinical outcomes in BC. This study aims to describe characteristics, treatment patterns, and outcomes after NACT in a cohort of Colombian patients with BC., Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study. We included adult patients with BC treated with NACT. Clinical charts were retrospectively reviewed. Descriptive statistics and time to event for overall survival analyses were performed. Recursive partitioning was performed for survival curves to assess the complex relationship between survival times and other variables., Results: Three hundred and fourteen patients were included for analysis. The pathologic complete response after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (ypCR) rate was 34.4%, with a higher ypCR in triple-negative BC (TNBC; 46.9%) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-positive BC (72.7%). Those who did not achieve ypCR had a higher percentage of death and relapse. The median follow-up was 4.9 years, with an 88.2% 5-year overall survival (OS)., Conclusion: A total of 62.6% of the total patients identified were not treated with NACT, indicating a low utilization. Our global ypCR rate was higher when compared with similar studies in Colombia, likely because of differences in the NACT treatment regimens. ypCR was only associated with OS in the TNBC subgroup, emphasizing the importance of pursuing ypCR in these patients. We consider the use of NACT a valuable opportunity to implement innovative treatment approaches that improve outcomes in Colombian patients with BC.

Objetive: To identify contributions of the scientific literature produced in the 2009-2019 period in Latin America on humanized prenatal care. Data sources:, Articles produced in Latin America that addressed humanized prenatal care, published between 2009 and 2019 in indexed journals (reported in MIAR) and located in recognized databases, were selected. Study selection: A selection based on the source, quality and relevance of the studies was taken into account, excluding gray literature. After applying filters, 26 articles were obtained. Data extraction: The data was recorded, subsequently using an analytical matrix for its coding. Data: the studies, especially from Colombia and Brazil, were largely qualitative. It is established that the quality of care is reflected in the accessibility and satisfaction of the users with the services. Humanized prenatal care affects maternal-perinatal health. The recognition of the particular needs of pregnant women is relevant. The studies recommend qualifying health personnel to strengthen humanized prenatal care, assuming pregnant women as protagonists of the process, dispelling their doubts and concerns, and providing evidence on the relationship humanized prenatal care / reduction of maternal morbidity and mortality., Conclusions: The studies carried out recognize the pregnant woman as the protagonist and her needs as the starting point for humanized prenatal care, conceived as an essential reference for the quality of services with a positive impact on the satisfaction of pregnant women and maternal outcomes. Objective: To determine the seroprevalence of anti-rubella and anti-cytomegalovirus IgG antibodies in a group of women aged between 16 and 40 years, residents of Tunja., Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional research in women aged between 16 and 40 years included by means of non- probability sampling for convenience. Sociodemographic variables were recorded by applying a survey. An enzyme immunoassay was used for the quantitative determination of rubella and cytomegalovirus IgG antibodies in serum. The statistical analysis was carried out using the statistical program SPSS version 21., Results: The study included 154 women of childbearing age, establishing seropositivity for anti-rubella IgG of 96.1% (n=148) (95%CI: 86.3 - 95.4)., Conclusion: One in ten women included in the study is at risk of primary cytomegalo-virus infection and one in 30 of rubella infection. Prenatal care using serological determinations of cytomegalovirus and rubella during pregnancy is essential in these cases.
