The validity of the Theory of Social Representations (TSR), as a contributing field within social psychology, has not been exempt from constant debate on the epistemological foundations that sustain it. This article answers the question: Where is the theory of social representations going? taking three critical aspects as a reference: retraction, slowdown and the possibilities offered by the TSR. It is concluded that beyond the debate on the epistemological statute, the TSR moves between the conformist tendency to repeat the old models proposed by its founders and the richness of the themes, methodological routes and diversity of interdisciplinary work that the TSR offers from the problematic of Latin America, and particularly Colombia.
