This is a theoretical-reflective essay that aims to approach the way in which the role of women has been biased by social representations, inherited by generations. In these representations, men are more closely associated with work and professional development, while women are mainly associated with housework and family. One of the epicenters of this problem, in addition to the above, is education. Overall, in Latin America, and specifically in Colombia, social inequalities are very deep and reflect a gender gap, permanently reproduced, which could be traced in terms of colonization and intersectionality. This paper will address three key moments. Firstly, it places women in education; secondly, it observes, from a general point of view, the challenges in terms of gender equity for higher education (HE) from the incorporation of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and finally, it presents an intersectional methodological perspective, which manages to dialogue between the aforementioned moments. It is intended to make a first approach to this concept from the educational perspective as an opportunity that realizes the promise of social inclusion and equity for women in the academy. This article proposes a reflection around the State punitive exercise with the purpose of making evident that the neoliberal project in Colombia –in progress since the late 20th century– has sustained itself on the expansion of the prison system as a strategy to control those social groups alienated by the market and the intersectionality matrixes of gender, race, class, and sexuality. We argument that in Colombian prisons a necropolitic field has been shaped, exposing those imprisoned to death thresholds, both physical and social. We develop this idea by means of a critical analysis of the reports on human rights in prisons – using interpretive categories of the black feminism such as the prison-industrial complex and intersectionality – to point out that in prisons a rationale beyond biopolitics takes place, establishing death and dehumanization as day-to-day elements of its workings. This article offers an approach to the experiences of public policy formation that have used the concept of intersectionality, in particular, those policies aimed at LGBTI people in Bogota, Valle del Cauca and Colombia in general. We propose an analytical exercise of these experiences, in which we have each participated at different times. These exercises have challenged us in terms of bringing proposals from social movements and academia--such as black feminism and feminisms of color, among other actors--to the realm of the state. Our participation in the formation of these policies, and in writing this article, let us seek strategies that allow for movements among different political arenas and discursive practices, illuminating porosities in and linkages among different scenarios: the state, academia and social movements.
