Colombia has endured one of the world's longest internal displacement crises in recent history. Programs that address the practices and psychosocial wellbeing of the community of caregivers of young children in protracted crises are urgently needed. We developed and implemented a program aimed at strengthening the resilience and wellbeing of caregivers (parents, grandparents, and educators) of children enrolled in home-based and institutional centers for early childhood development in Colombia. The program, Conmigo, Contigo, Con Todos, or 3Cs, used purposive sampling across 14 municipalities disproportionately impacted by the armed conflict in Colombia. It consisted of two modules, a skills-building program (SBP) module and a psychotherapy intervention (PTI). The program content drew from cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, and from inputs from local stakeholders. By applying a pragmatic evaluation strategy, we explored the pre-post intervention changes in parental resilience (the primary outcome of interest) through self-reports on the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). The analysis of the pre-post intervention outcomes showed statistically significant improvements in CD-RISC in both intervention arms (SBP and PTI). Caregivers in the PTI group started with lower CD-RISC scores than caregivers who did not receive the PTI, and they showed the most improvement over time. Caregivers who had lower than average participation in the SBP (M=1-3 sessions out of a total of 6) did not show significant changes in CD-RISC. Additionally, caregivers who had higher than average participation in the SBP showed significantly more improvement in CD-RISC scores than caregivers who did not attend any sessions. We discuss the implications of these findings for future applications of the program and substantiate the measurable impact of interventions for caregivers in conflict settings.

Kangaroo-Mother Care (KMC) is a follow-up program for premature infants with comorbidities such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). The objective was to characterize patients with BPD and describe their nutritional, neurological, and respiratory outcomes in a KMC. A retrospective cohort study of the KMC in a University Hospital between 2015-2018. Included patients with BPD and excluded major malformations. Nutritional, neurological, and respiratory outcomes were evaluated at 40 weeks, 6, and 12 months of corrected-age using scales recommended in Colombia. A descriptive analysis was carried out, the variables were compared according to the severity of BPD. The changes in the outcomes in patients with complete follow-up were evaluated. 490 patients were admitted in four years, 50 with BPD (10,2%); 58% with moderate-BPD, none with severe BPD. 46% were born at <29 weeks of gestationalage, 96% had low socioeconomic status and 90% and 90% of these submitted to mechanical ventilation. In the follow-up, height-for-age remained at risk at 6 and 12 months. 98% had abnormal Amiel-Tisson test. Around 75% had respiratory symptoms between 6 and 12 months and 33% had at least one hospital readmission. Patients with BPD in KMC have alterations in height-for-age, neurodevelopment, and respiratory system when complete the follow-up. We recorded the species composition of mixed bird flocks, during 366 h of fieldwork in seven localities along an altitudinal gradient on the Central Andes of Colombia. We observed 164 species in 212 mixed bird flocks. Species composition varied along the altitudinal gradient and 27 species could have a cohesive role in the flock, but almost all of them were different among localities. The number of species per mixed flock varied from two to 30. The mean number of species per flock also varied among localities, and the differences among the whole set of species joining mixed flocks in each locality seem to be related with both differences in altitude and geographic distance. We report a new population of the Hooded Anpitta (Grallariculla cucullata) in the Central Andes of Colombia, a threatened bird species inhabiting montane cloud forests in Colombian and Venezuelan Andes. We present an avifaunal list for the department of Quindío, Colombia. Data were compiled from our original fieldwork, museum online databases, and literature. The list includes 543 species, of which 34 are in some threatened category, 28 are Colombian endemics or semi-endemics, 44 are migrants, and 26 are new records for this region. We present a list of 92 bird species from Finca Estrella de Agua - Páramo de Frontino section (3,100 - 3,400 m) in Salento municipality, Quindío Department, Central Andes of Colombia. The list was made by a combination of visual and aural records and mist net captures during 2005, and complemented by opportunistic records during three consecutive years. Notably, our list includes three Colombian endemics and semi-endemics: Eriocnemis derbyi (DeLattre and Bourcier, 1846), Eriocnemis mosquera (DeLattre and Bourcier, 1846) and Myioborus ornatus (Boissonneau, 1840). Three threatened species were detected: Andigena hypoglauca (Gould, 1833), Bolborhynchus ferrugineifrons (Lawrence, 1880), and Buthraupis wetmorei (Moore, 1934). Records led to altitudinal range extensions of four species: Pipreola riefferii (Boissonneau, 1840), Glaucidium jardinii (Bonaparte, 1855), Margarornis squamiger (d'Orbigny and Lafresnaye, 1838), and Pachyramphus versicolor (Hartlaub, 1843).
