Although metacognition plays a pivotal role in theoretical accounts of mind wandering, their longitudinal relationships have not yet been investigated during the important developmental period of early adolescence. This study aimed to examine the developmental trajectories of spontaneous and deliberate mind wandering and the dynamic associations between metacognition and two types of mind wandering in early adolescence. A sample of 4302 Chinese students beginning in Grade 4 (47.4% female; initial Mage = 9.84, SDage = 0.47) completed questionnaires on five occasions over 2.5 years. The results showed that deliberate mind wandering, but not spontaneous mind wandering, gradually increased from Grade 4 to Grade 6. Metacognition was negatively related to spontaneous mind wandering but positively related to deliberate mind wandering. Background: While previous research has established that resilience is affected by various factors, these studies have primarily focussed on individual variables associated with resilience, without providing insights into how to influence the rate of change in resilience. Aim: To examine the trajectory of resilience and identify the factors associated with changes in resilience among spousal caregivers of patients with newly diagnosed advanced cancer receiving treatment during the first 6 months. Design: An observational longitudinal study. Methods: A total of 312 spousal caregivers of patients with newly diagnosed advanced cancer were recruited from January 2022 to December 2022 in Yancheng, China. Three data collection points were established, spanning from the first month to 6 months after initial cancer treatment. A latent growth model was employed to depict the resilience trajectory at various time points. A latent growth model with time‐invariant covariates was adopted to determine the factors influencing resilience trajectory. The study adhered to the STROBE checklist for proper reporting. Results: Throughout the follow‐up period, the participants experienced a significant increase in resilience. Gender, family income, the patient's health status, spirituality and belief in familism were significantly associated with the baseline resilience level. Moreover, family income, the patient's health status, spirituality, caregiver burden and belief in familism were significantly associated with the rate of resilience change over time. Conclusions: Spousal caregivers demonstrated a linear increase in resilience during the first 6 months after initial treatment. Meanwhile, changes in resilience were influenced by multiple factors during the early phase of cancer treatment. Thus, more attention should be paid to early identification and implementation of targeted interventions. Relevance to Clinical Practice: Healthcare professionals should understand the change in resilience among spousal caregivers and conduct timely mental health interventions to enhance the resilience of families affected by cancer. Background: Sarcopenia is an age-related clinical syndrome, which is associated with numerous adverse outcomes among older adults. The relationship between sarcopenia and activities of daily living (ADL) disability has been studied in China, but these findings usually focused on a single time point. The patterns of ADL can change over time and vary among individuals. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the association between sarcopenia and trajectories of ADL disability. Methods: According to Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) 2019 criteria, muscle mass, muscle strength, and physical performance measurements were measured to diagnose sarcopenia. A six-item ADL score was used to measure ADL disability, and trajectories of ADL disability were identified by the latent class trajectory modelling (LCTM). Multiple logistic regression models were performed to examine the association between sarcopenia and trajectories of ADL disability. Results: Among 9113 middle-aged and older adults, three trajectories of ADL disability were determined according to changes in ADL score during follow-up, including a mild-high trajectory (n = 648, 7.11%), followed by the low-mild trajectory (n = 3120, 34.24%) and low-low trajectory (n = 5345, 58.65%). After adjustment for covariates, severe sarcopenia was significantly associated with higher risks of being in the mild-high trajectory group (OR = 3.31, 95%CI: 2.10–5.22) and the low-mild trajectory group (OR = 1.44, 95%CI: 1.05–1.98), compared with the low-low trajectory group. This association was still observed when stratified by age and gender. In addition, participants with sarcopenic obesity were associated with a higher risk of ADL disability (OR = 3.99; 95% CI: 2.50–6.09). Conclusions: Among the middle-aged and older Chinese adults, sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity were both associated with persistent higher trajectories of ADL disability. It suggested that early interventions to sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity among the middle-aged and older adults may reduce the progression of ADL disability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aims: To identify the trajectories of body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC), and assess the associations of BMI trajectory, WC trajectory, or the two combined, with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) risk in Chinese adults. Materials and Methods: This study was based on a prospective project—the Prediction for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in China (China‐PAR). A total of 54 434 participants (39.21% men) who were measured on at least two occasions were included. Three slowly increasing trajectory patterns were identified for BMI, and four for WC, by latent mixed modelling. A nine‐category variable was derived by combining the WC trajectory (low, moderate, moderate‐high/high) and the BMI trajectory (low, moderate, high). Logistic regression models were applied to estimate the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: The risk of developing T2DM increased with elevated BMI or WC trajectory levels (all ptrend <0.001). The risks were 2.85 (2.59–3.14) for high BMI trajectory and 4.34 (3.78–4.99) for high WC trajectory versus low trajectory groups, respectively. The association was more pronounced among younger individuals (pinteraction <0.001). In the joint analysis, compared to participants with low WC and BMI trajectory, those with moderate‐high/high WC combined with high BMI trajectory had the highest risk of T2DM (OR 3.96, 95% CI 3.48–4.50); even those who maintained moderate‐high/high WC but low BMI trajectory showed a higher T2DM risk (OR 3.00, 95% CI 2.31–3.91). Conclusions: This study suggests that simultaneous dynamic and continuous monitoring of BMI and WC may contribute more than single measurements to predicting T2DM risk and determining preventive strategies. Background: The prevalence of cognitive impairment among older adults remains high. It has been proven that social integration is related to cognitive function. However, limited research has examined the association of social integration and its different dimensions with cognitive function trajectories of older adults. Methods: The data were from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) spanning 2013 (T1) to 2018 (T3). A total of 3,977 older adults were included in the final analysis. Cognitive function was measured with items from an adapted Chinese version of the Mini-Mini-Mental Mental State Examination (MMSE), while the measurement of social integration included three dimensions: economic integration, relational integration and community integration. A group-based trajectory model (GBTM) was used to identify cognitive trajectory groups among participants and an unordered multinomial logistic regression was employed to explore the association of baseline social integration and its three dimensions with cognitive function trajectories. Result: Three cognitive function trajectory groups were identified: low-decline group (24.1%), medium-decline group (44.2%) and high-stable group (31.7%). Comparing to the medium-decline trajectory group, older adults with higher social integration scores were more likely to be in the high-stable trajectory group (OR = 1.087, 95%CI: 1.007 ~ 1.174), while less likely to be in the low-decline group (OR = 0.806, 95%CI: 0.736 ~ 0.882). Among the different dimensions of social integration, older adults with higher community integration scores were more likely to be in the high-stable trajectory group (OR = 1.222, 95%CI: 1.026 ~ 1.456); Older adults with higher relational integration scores were less likely to be in the low-decline trajectory group (OR = 0.816, 95%CI: 0.734 ~ 0.906). The economic integration was not found to correlate with the cognitive function trajectories. Stratified analyses revealed that the association between community integration and cognitive trajectories was only significant among older adults aged 60 to 69, and the association between relational integration and cognitive trajectories was only significant among older adults who was agricultural household registration. Conclusion: The developmental trajectories of cognitive function among Chinese older adults are heterogeneous. Social integration is significantly related to the trajectories of cognitive function in Chinese older adults. Background: Persistent cough is one of the most frequent complications following lung cancer surgery. To promote optimal recovery, we conducted a study to investigate the trajectories of coughing symptoms and their impact on quality of life (QOL), as well as to identify potential risk factors of persistent cough after pulmonary resection (CAP). Methods: This prospective observational study assessed patients who underwent pulmonary resection for lung tumor at two medical centers in China. Persistent CAP was evaluated before surgery, at discharge, and 1, 3, and 6 months following surgery using visual analog scale (VAS), cough symptom score (CSS), and Leicester Cough Questionnaire in Mandarin Chinese (LCQ-MC). Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to explore independent risk factors for persistent CAP. Results: Of the 506 enrolled patients, 130 patients were diagnosed with persistent CAP with an incidence of 25.69%. Compared to the noncough group, patients with persistent CAP reported significantly higher VAS (p <0.001) and CSS scores (p < 0.001) and experienced worse QOL (p < 0.001) for up to 6 months, particularly at 1 month following surgery. Multivariable regression analysis revealed that a duration of anesthesia exceeding 156 min (odds ratio [OR]: 1.847, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.156-2.951, p = 0.010) and gastroesophageal acid reflux (GER) (OR: 3.870, 95% CI: 2.376-6.304, p < 0.001) were independent risk factors of persistent CAP. Conclusion: Patients who suffer from persistent CAP face a substantial burden and diminished QOL for an extended period compared to noncough patients. Background: Antepartum depression is a prevalent unhealthy mental health problem worldwide, particularly in low‐income countries. It is a major contributor to adverse birth outcomes. Previous studies linking antepartum depression to birthweight have yielded conflicting results, which may be the reason that the depressive symptoms were only measured once during pregnancy. This study aimed to explore the associations between trajectories of antepartum depressive symptoms and birthweight. Methods: Depressive symptoms were assessed prospectively at each trimester in 3699 pregnant women from 24 hospitals across 15 provinces in China, using the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS). Higher scores of EPDS indicated higher levels of depressive symptoms. Associations between trajectories of depressive symptoms and birthweight were examined using group‐based trajectory modeling (GBTM), propensity score‐based inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW), and logistic regression. Results: GBTM identified five trajectories. Compared with the low‐stable trajectory of depressive symptoms, only high‐stable (OR = 1.35, 95% CI: 1.15–2.52) and moderate‐rising (OR = 1.18, 95% CI: 1.12–1.85) had an increased risk of low birthweight (LBW) in the adjusted longitudinal analysis of IPTW. There was no significant increase in the risk of LBW in moderate‐stable and high‐falling trajectories. However, trajectories of depressive symptoms were not associated with the risk of macrosomia. Conclusion: Antepartum depressive symptoms were not constant. Trajectories of depressive symptoms were associated with the risk of LBW. It is important to optimize and implement screening, tracking, and intervention protocols for antepartum depression, especially for high‐risk pregnant women, to prevent LBW. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: To investigate the association between longitudinal changing patterns of fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and kidney function change in the general population.Methods: We conducted a retrospective, longitudinal cohort study of a health examination center database in China. Subjects who had at least three visits from 2011 to 2018 with baseline eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 were enrolled. The FPG trajectories were identified by group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM). We examined the association of eGFR slopes and FPG trajectories by Cox analysis.Results: Totally, 8114 participants were identified. Three heterogeneous FBP trajectories were detected by GBTM as low-stable group (n=7294), moderate-stable group (n=657) and high-stable group (n=163). The high-stable group had lower baseline eGFR, a higher percentage of fast eGFR slope, lower HDL-c, higher LDL-c, higher cholesterol, and higher Lg(triglyceride). Cox analysis showed that the high-stable trajectory was a risk factor for fast eGFR decline (for eGFR slope <− 4 mL/min per 1.73 m2 per year, adjusted HR [95% CI] 1.544 [0.876, 2.722]; for eGFR slope <− 5 mL/min per 1.73 m2 per year, adjusted HR [95% CI] 2.117[1.100, 4.075]). Further, we analyzed a subgroup in which participants' long-term FPG was normal. We divided this subgroup into four trajectories by GBTM, and Cox analysis showed that after adjustment for other potential confounding factors, the high-stable trajectory was an independent risk factor for fast eGFR slope (for eGFR slope <− 4 mL/min per 1.73 m2 per year, adjusted HR [95% CI] HR 1.640[1.050, 2.561]; for eGFR slope <− 5 mL/min per 1.73 m2 per year, adjusted HR [95% CI] 1.818[1.018, 3.248]) in subgroup.Conclusion: We found that discrete FPG trajectories were significantly associated with risk of fast eGFR slope in individuals and those with long-term normal FPG. Child maltreatment may lead to sleep disturbance during the critical period of child development. Our study examined the effect of maltreatment in early childhood on trajectories of sleep quality among early adolescents. The study included 1611 participants (mean ± standard deviation age at baseline: 12.5 ± 0.5 years) from a middle school in southeastern China. Of these participants, 60.5 % were males. Information on early childhood maltreatment during pre-seventh grade was obtained through a self-report questionnaire at baseline, and sleep quality was collected at baseline and during follow-up. We used a group-based trajectory model to characterize trajectories of sleep quality. The study identified four trajectories of sleep quality, namely the low sleep score group (25.0 %), the moderate-low sleep score group (51.0 %), the moderate-increasing sleep score (17.0 %), and the high-decreasing sleep score (7.0 %) group. After adjusting for covariates, the findings revealed that emotional abuse and physical abuse were associated with an increased risk of developing new-onset sleep disturbances in early adolescents. Particularly, emotional abuse (incidence rate ratio = 1.71, 95 % confidence interval: 1.08–2.71) significantly increased the risk of belonging to the high-decreasing sleep score group. Moreover, there existed a dose–response relationship between early childhood maltreatment and sleep quality trajectories, with a higher number of maltreatment types in early childhood correlating with a greater risk of belonging to the high-decreasing sleep score group. The findings of our study provide compelling evidence indicating that specific types and cumulative maltreatment during early childhood contribute to sleep disturbances among early adolescents. The fetal immune system and consequent elevated risk of asthma in childhood may be impacted by maternal anxiety during pregnancy. Limited studies have evaluated whether there was a sensitive period and cumulative effect of the relationship between prenatal anxiety and children's asthma. 3131 mother-child pairs made up the study's sample from the Ma'anshan Birth Cohort Study in China. Maternal anxiety status was repeated three times using the pregnancy-related anxiety questionnaire in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy. Diagnostic information on asthma was collected three times at 24, 36, and 48 months of age. After adjusting for confounders, children born to mothers with anxiety in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy all had an elevated risk of total asthma from 12 to 48 months of age. After further adjusting prenatal anxiety in the other trimesters, no association was observed between prenatal anxiety in any trimester and preschoolers' asthma. Children of mothers with persistently high anxiety score trajectory during pregnancy had an elevated risk of total asthma and high prevalence trajectory of asthma. Cumulative effects analysis showed that the more frequent the mother's anxiety, the higher the risk of her offspring developing a high prevalence trajectory of asthma from 12 to 48 months of age. The results of the subgroup analysis by age showed similar associations overall. Maternal antenatal anxiety was associated with an elevated risk of preschool children's asthma, and a possible cumulative effect was observed. Rainstorms always occur in the southeast and northeast quadrants of the Northeast China Cold Vortex (NCCV), resulting in significant flooding. This study investigated water vapor and trigger mechanisms for rainstorms within these two regions of an NCCV event during 11–14 June 2022 in terms of Lagrangian backward tracking, stratification stability, and upward motion using the ERA5 reanalysis. In the mid-troposphere, a quasi-stationary "ridge-NCCV-ridge" pattern resided over northeastern China, with an "anticyclonic-cyclonic-anticyclonic" airflow in the lower troposphere. As a result, water vapor originated from the Yellow Sea and was transported in an "L" shape toward both two regions. The southeast region was influenced by southwesterly and northwesterly airflows, resulting in the convergence of moist air from the Yangtze River and Lake Baikal and significant vertical shear of positive vorticity advection. This dynamic created deep and pronounced upward currents in the southeast of the NCCV, leading to the development of intensive and extensive rainstorms in situ. In contrast, the northeast region of the NCCV was dominated by southerly airflow. The moist air converged against the lee side of the Great Khingan Mountains and generated shallow, unstable stratification. Aims and Objectives: The aim was to identify latent trajectories in physical activity (PA) and their determinants in adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) based on the socio‐ecological model. Background: PA has been linked to poor long‐term outcomes in patients with COPD. However, few studies have explored their PA trajectories and their predictors. Design: Cohort study. Methods: We used data from a national cohort and included 215 participants. PA was quantified using a short PA questionnaire, and group‐based trajectory modelling was used to explore the PA trajectories. Multinomial logistic regression was conducted to identify the predictors of PA trajectories. Generalised linear mixed models were used to elucidate the associations between predictors and PA during follow‐up. A STROBE checklist was used to guide the reporting of this study. Results: Three PA trajectory patterns were identified among 215 COPD participants with an average age of 60.51 ± 8.87: stable inactive group (66.7%), sharp decline group (25.7%) and stable active group (7.5%). The logistic regression showed that age, sex, income, peak expiratory flow, upper limb capacity, depressive symptoms, the frequency of contact with children were PA predictors. Upper limb capacity weakness and depressive symptoms were found to be associated with a sharp decline in PA during follow‐up. Conclusions: This study revealed three PA trajectories among patients with COPD. In addition to strengthening the physical functions and mental health of patients, support from the family, community and society also play a crucial role in promoting PA of patients with COPD. Relevance to Clinical Practice: It is essential to identify distinct PA trajectories in patients with COPD to develop future interventions that promote PA. Background: Given the rapidly rising proportion of the older population in China and the relatively high prevalence of depressive symptoms among this population, this study aimed to identify the trajectories of depressive symptoms and the factors associated with the trajectory class to gain a better understanding of the long-term course of depressive symptoms in this population. Methods: Data were obtained from four wave's survey of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). A total of 3646 participants who aged 60 years or older during baseline survey, and completed all follow-ups were retained in this study. Depressive symptoms were measured using the 10-item version of the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D-10). Growth mixture modelling (GMM) was adopted to identify the trajectory classes of depressive symptoms, and both linear and quadratic functions were considered. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to calculate the adjusted odds ratios (ORs) of the associated factors to predict the trajectory class of participants. Results: A four-class quadratic function model was the best-fitting model for the trajectories of depressive symptoms in the older Chinese population. The four trajectories were labelled as increasing (16.70%), decreasing (12.31%), high and stable (7.30%), and low and stable (63.69%), according to their trends. Except for the low and stable trajectory, the other trajectories were almost above the threshold for depressive symptoms. The multivariate logistic regression model suggested that the trajectories of chronic depressive symptoms could be predicted by being female, living in a village (rural area), having a lower educational level, and having chronic diseases. Conclusions: This study identified four depressive symptom trajectories in the older Chinese population and analysed the factors associated with the trajectory class. Aims: To identify the different classes of total knee arthroplasty patients according to the heterogenous trajectories of psychological resilience and investigate the predictors for different patterns of resilience. Design: A prospective cohort study. Methods: A total of 210 patients with total knee arthroplasty from March to December 2021 were included. Baseline assessment (T0) data were collected before surgery and included demographic, biological (clinical characteristics), psychological (psychological resilience, self‐efficacy, psychological distress, hope, medical coping mode) and social (social support) factors. Resilience measurements were repeated at 3 days after surgery (T1), the date of discharge (T2), and 1 month (T3) and 3 months (T4) after discharge. Latent growth mixture modelling was employed to define different resilience trajectories. Predictors of class membership were identified using multinomial logistic regression. Results: Data from 198 patients were analysed. Three latent classes were identified with similar patterns in different intercepts, showing a significant decrease in resilience from admission (T0) to 3 days after surgery (T1) followed by an increase from T1 to T4. The three trajectories of psychological resilience were named the stable‐resilience class (65.66%), high‐resilience class (17.68%), and low‐resilience class (16.66%). Multinomial logistic regression showed that compared with the stable‐resilience class, the high‐resilience class was predicted by having a higher level of hope, having higher education, living in urban areas and having more children, while the low‐resilience class was predicted by having lower levels of self‐efficacy and hope, living in semirural areas, and having more children. Conclusions: The three trajectories indicated that surgery was the major stressor influencing patients' psychological resilience and that patients in the low‐resilience class needed to be intervened. Impact Predictors of patients in different classes provide evidence for the identification of vulnerable populations and lay a foundation for future research contributing to the development of targeted interventions for improving patients' psychological resilience. • Adverse childhood experiences were associated with more frailty events. • Adverse childhood experiences were associated with widening of the frailty trajectory. • Women were more sensitive than men to socioeconomic deprivation and high levels of adversity in childhood. • Women were not more sensitive to childhood intrafamilial aggression than men. The determinants of gender differences in frailty remain unknown but may include social factors. International attention is increasingly focusing on the adverse childhood experiences of women. This study therefore examined the gender-specific association of adverse childhood experiences with frailty index level and trajectory. This population-based study used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, with a nationally representative sample of people aged 45 years or more. The frailty index was based on 41 health measurements, and 18 types of adverse childhood experiences were examined. Weighted ordered logistic models were used with additive interaction. Compared with those exposed to one or no adverse events, exposure to two or three childhood adverse experiences was associated with a 44 % (95%CI: 1.16–1.80) increase in the likelihood of frail status for women, but not significantly associated with the likelihood of frail status for men. Additionally, for men and women, experiencing four or more adversities was associated with a 69 % (95%CI: 1.36–2.09) and a 138 % (95%CI: 1.93–2.94) increase in the likelihood of frail status, respectively. A similar association was found between accumulative scores for adverse childhood experiences and trajectory of the frailty index (men vs. women: OR of exposure to two or three adversities: 1.17 (95%CI: 0.84–1.64) vs. 1.26 (95%CI: 1.02–1.56); OR of exposure to four or more adversities: 1.70 (95%CI: 1.24–2.34) vs. 2.12 (95%CI: 1.70–2.63)). The greatest increase in risk of frailty was observed among men and women experiencing a high level of adversity, followed by socioeconomic deprivation and intrafamilial aggression. There was a significant additive interaction between women and childhood socioeconomic deprivation or a high level of adversity. The risk of being frail or having a rapidly increasing frailty index trajectory for women with a high level of adversity was approximately 4.34 (95%CI: 3.36–5.59) and 4·07 (95%CI: 3·34–4.96) times higher than that for men with a low level of adversity. However, gender differences were not found in the effects of childhood intrafamilial aggression. Men and women routinely experienced adult frailty as a result of adverse childhood events. The biological interaction between women and adverse childhood experiences was evident, with women's frailty being more sensitive to childhood socioeconomic deprivation and a high level of adversity. Background: The high prevalence of depression among older people in China places a heavy burden on the health system. Multimorbidity, mobility limitation and subjective memory impairment are found to be risk indicators for depression. However, most studies on this topic focused on depression at a single point in time, ignoring the dynamic changes in depressive symptoms and the relationship between the trajectories and these three conditions. Therefore, we aimed to identify distinct trajectories of depressive symptoms in older people and investigate their associations with multimorbidity, mobility limitation and subjective memory impairment. Methods: Data was drawn from China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study conducted during 2011–2018. A total of 5196 participants who completed 4 visits, conducted every 2–3 years were included in this study. Group-based trajectory modeling was conducted to identify distinct trajectories of depressive symptoms z-scores. Multinomial logistic regression was used to investigate the relationships. Results: Four distinct trajectories of depressive symptoms z-scores were identified, labeled as persistently low symptoms (68.69%, n = 3569), increasing symptoms (12.14%, n = 631), decreasing symptoms (14.05%, n = 730) and persistently high symptoms (5.12%, n = 266). Participants with multimorbidity had unfavorable trajectories of depressive symptoms compared with those without multimorbidity, with adjusted odds ratios (95% CIs) of 1.40 (1.15, 1.70), 1.59 (1.33, 1.90) and 2.19 (1.65, 2.90) for the increasing symptoms, decreasing symptoms and persistently high symptoms, respectively. We also observed a similar trend among participants with mobility limitations. Compared with participants who had poor subjective memory, participants with excellent/very good/good subjective memory had a lower risk of developing unfavorable trajectories of depressive symptoms. The adjusted odds ratios (95% CIs) of the increasing symptoms, decreasing symptoms and persistently high symptoms were 0.54 (0.40, 0.72), 0.50 (0.38, 0.65) and 0.48 (0.31, 0.73), respectively. Aims and objectives: The aim of this study is to estimate differences in health‐promoting behaviour levels throughout the pregnancy trimesters, to identify distinct patterns of health‐promoting behaviour trajectories during pregnancy and to evaluate predictors of these trajectory group memberships. Background: Promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours during pregnancy could decrease devastating outcomes for the mother and foetus. However, there is currently limited insight into the dynamics of health‐promoting behaviours during pregnancy. Design: An observational longitudinal study. Methods: 158 pregnant women were recruited from June 2020 to June 2021 in Qingdao, China. The Health‐Promoting Lifestyle Profile was used to assess health‐promoting behaviours. Latent growth model was performed to compare health‐promoting behaviours at different time points. Group‐based trajectory model was applied to identify health‐promoting behaviour trajectories. Multinomial logistic regression was adopted to determine the predictors of trajectory group memberships. We used the STROBE checklist to report this study. Results: The entire sample of pregnant women experienced a significant increase in health‐promoting behaviours during pregnancy. Three trajectories were identified including a 'low‐increase behaviour trajectory (20.1% of sample)', a 'moderate‐increase behaviour trajectory (58.0% of sample)' and a 'stable then increased behaviour trajectory (21.9% of sample)'. Low maternal sense of coherence, lack of pre‐pregnancy exercise habit, artificial insemination and low monthly family income were significantly associated with the low‐increase behaviour trajectory. High self‐efficacy and pre‐pregnancy exercise habit were significantly associated with the stable then increased behaviour trajectory. Conclusions: Pregnant women exhibit different health‐promoting behaviours throughout the pregnancy trimesters. Meanwhile, three trajectories were identified among pregnant women. Thus, more attentions should be paid on early identification and targeted intervention in a future study. Relevance of clinical practice: Healthcare providers should pay closer and earlier attention to identify women in the low‐increase trajectory subgroup at the outset of pregnancy. Background: It is currently unknown whether the dynamic nature of depression affects the development of sarcopenia. Herein, this study aims to assess the association between possible new sarcopenia and the depression trajectory of individuals and their intimate partners through a 4-year longitudinal cohort study. Methods: Our study included 784 pairs of individuals without possible sarcopenia and their spouses from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) 2011. All individuals and their spouses received three assessments of the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression 10-item (CESD-10) scale in 2011, 2013, and 2015. According to the diagnostic algorithm recommended by the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) 2019, we evaluated the incidence of possible sarcopenia in individuals in 2015. Latent class analysis (LCA) was used to identify a longitudinal depression trajectory of individuals and their spouses during a 4-year follow-up. Subsequently, we assessed the relationship between possible sarcopenia and depression trajectory using three generalized additive models. Results: In 2015, 24.87% (195/784) of individuals were diagnosed with possible sarcopenia. LCA identified five depression trajectories: a persistently high risk of depression in individuals and their spouses (reference; class 1 = 34 [4.3%]); a persistently low risk of depression in individuals and their spouses (class 2 = 526 [67.1%]); a high risk of depression in individuals and a low risk of depression in spouses (class 3 = 46 [5.9%]); a low risk of depression in individuals and a high risk of depression in spouses (class 4 = 116 [14.8%]); and a reduced risk of depression in individuals and their spouses (class 5 = 62 [7.9%]). The highest incidence of possible sarcopenia was shown in class 1, followed by classes 3 and 5. Classes 2 (adjusted relative risk (RR) = 0.44, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.20-0.97) and 4 (adjusted RR = 0.40, 95%CI: 0. 17-0.96) had a significantly lower incidence of possible sarcopenia than class 1. Subgroup analysis demonstrated that the incidence of possible sarcopenia in class 4 was obviously higher in women (38.89%) than in men (18.4%). Conclusions: Our study indicates a persistently high risk of depression in individuals to develop possible sarcopenia. In addition, a persistently high risk of depression in intimate partners potentially increases the risk of possible new sarcopenia, especially in female individuals who are at low risk of depression. • IC of a large number of Chinese community older adults has deteriorated over 4 years. • The decline in cognitive function over time was the most significant among all dimensions after 4 years. • Age, low education level, widowhood were independently associated with IC deterioration. Intrinsic capacity (IC), the sum of individual mental and physical capabilities, as well as living environment and behavior, jointly determine the functional ability of older adults, shifting the focus from disease to function. At the population level, IC in older adults is associated with adverse health outcomes, such as disability, falls, and death. At the individual level, IC changes dynamically. However, studies on the longitudinal IC trajectory and the factors influencing IC deterioration are limited. We aimed to analyze the IC trajectory and explore the risk factors for IC deterioration in Chinese older adults. Data were obtained from the baseline (2011–2012) and 4-year follow-up (2015) CHARLS surveys, including 1906 people aged 60 years and older. IC comprises six dimensions: locomotion, vitality, hearing, vision, cognition, and psychology. IC trajectory was categorized into three groups: improved, maintained, and deteriorated. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze factors influencing the trajectory of IC deterioration. After 4 years, 32.1 % had deteriorated, 38.5 % remained stable, and 29.4 % had improved. Age, low level of education, widowed were independently associated with IC deterioration. The increased availability of quantitative historical datasets has provided new research opportunities for multiple disciplines in social science. In this article, we work closely with the constructors of a new dataset, CGED-Q (China Government Employee Database-Qing), that records the career trajectories of over 340,000 government officials in the Qing bureaucracy in China from 1760 to 1912. We use these data to study career mobility from a historical perspective and understand social mobility and inequality. However, existing statistical approaches are inadequate for analyzing career mobility in this historical dataset with its fine-grained attributes and long time span, since they are mostly hypothesis-driven and require substantial effort. We propose CareerLens, an interactive visual analytics system for assisting experts in exploring, understanding, and reasoning from historical career data. With CareerLens, experts examine mobility patterns in three levels-of-detail, namely, the macro-level providing a summary of overall mobility, the meso-level extracting latent group mobility patterns, and the micro-level revealing social relationships of individuals. We demonstrate the effectiveness and usability of CareerLens through two case studies and receive encouraging feedback from follow-up interviews with domain experts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: This study aims to examine the association of depressive trajectories with disability-free-survival (DFS)., Methods: This prospective cohort study used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, 2011-2015. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Centre for Epidemiology Studies Depression Scale-10. Disability was assessed using activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental ADLs. Trajectories of depressive symptoms were identified and classified by latent mixture modelling. Logistic regression models were used to examine the association between depressive trajectories and DFS., Results: A total of 8373 participants aged 45 years and older were included. We identified four distinct trajectories of depressive symptoms: 'no depressive symptoms', 'decreasing depressive symptoms', 'increasing depressive symptoms', and 'persistent depressive symptoms'. Compared to participants in the no depressive symptom trajectory, those in the decreasing depressive symptoms, increasing depressive symptoms and persistent depressive symptoms trajectories had an increased risk of disability or mortality, with multiple-adjusted hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) of 1.75 (1.45-2.12), 2.05 (1.77-2.38) and 3.50 (2.77-4.42)., Conclusion: Our study shows that among middle-aged and older Chinese adults, individuals with a trajectory of depressive symptoms are at increased risk of disability or mortality. Purpose: This study aimed to examine childhood neighbourhood quality, peer relationships, and trajectories of depressive symptoms among middle-aged and older Chinese adults., Methods: The data came from the longitudinal dataset from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS, 2011-2018). Depressive symptoms were measured repeatedly using the ten-item Centre for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D-10). Latent growth modelling was used to capture the trajectory of depressive symptoms by childhood neighbourhood quality, and peer relationships., Results: The mean level of depressive symptoms increased gradually in the follow-up period. Poorer childhood neighbourhood quality, and peer relationships were significantly associated with higher levels of depression in later life (β = 0.18 and β = 0.28 for aged 45-59, p < 0.001; β = 0.16 and β = 0.33 for aged 60 and over, p < 0.001) at baseline and a faster increase in depressive symptoms with age for childhood neighbourhood quality (β = 0.03, p < 0.01 for aged 45-59; β = 0.05, p < 0.01 for aged 60 and over). For males and females, poorer childhood neighbourhood quality, and peer relationships predicted higher levels of depression at baseline (β = 0.17 and β = 0.36 for males, p < 0.001; β = 0.16 and β = 0.27 for females, p < 0.001), and only neighbourhood quality was associated with a higher rate of change in depression during follow-up (β = 0.03, and β = 0.04, p < 0.05, respectively)., Conclusion: Poorer childhood neighbourhood quality was associated with the slope of change in depressive symptoms. Background: Social engagement is closely related to well-being among older adults. However, studies on the changing trajectory and influencing factors (especially time-varying factors) of social engagement are limited. This study aimed to examine the social engagement trajectory of older Chinese adults and explore its time-fixed and time-varying factors, thus providing evidence for the development of strategies to promote a rational implementation for healthy aging., Methods: This study included 2,195 participants from a subset of four surveys from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey conducted from 2008 to 2018 (with the latest survey completed in 2018), with follow-ups conducted approximately every three years. Growth mixture modeling was used to explore the social engagement trajectory of older adults and the effects of time-varying variables. In addition, multinomial logistic regression was employed to analyze the association between time-fixed variables and latent classes., Results: Three distinct trajectories of social engagement among older adults in China were identified: slow declining (n = 204; 9.3%), which meant social engagement score decreased continuously, but social engagement level improved; slow rising (n = 1,039; 47.3%), marked by an increased score of social engagement, but with an depressed engagement level; and middle stabilizing (n = 952; 43.4%), which meant social engagement score and engagement level remained quite stable. A time-fixed analysis indicated that age, marital status, educational level, and annual family income had a significant impact on social engagement (P < 0.05). In contrast, the time-varying analysis showed that a decline in functional ability, insufficient exercise (means no exercise at present), deteriorating self-reported health and quality of life, negative mood, monotonous diet, and reduced community services were closely related to the reduction in social engagement levels (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Three trends were observed at the social engagement level. Older adults with initially high levels of social engagement exhibited a continuous upward trend, whereas those with initially low levels experienced a decline in their social engagement, and those with initially intermediate levels remained quite stable. Background: Allergic diseases are associated with an increased susceptibility to respiratory tract infections. Although allergen immunotherapy (AIT) alters the course of allergies, there is limited evidence from clinical practice demonstrating its ability to enhance the host defense against pathogens., Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of AIT against viral infection in patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) and allergic asthma (AS) based on clinical evidence., Methods: A multicenter, questionnaire-based survey was conducted during a tremendous surge in COVID-19 cases between February 10, 2023, and March 15, 2023, in 81 centers across China recruiting healthy volunteers and patients with AR and AS to investigate the clinical outcomes of COVID-19 infection., Results: Of 10,151 participants recruited in the survey, 3654 patients and 2192 healthy volunteers who tested positive for COVID-19 were included in this analysis after screening. Overall, no significant differences in COVID-19 outcomes were observed between patients and healthy volunteers. An additional 451 patients were excluded due to their use of biologics as the sole add-on treatment, leaving 3203 patients in the further analysis. Of them, 1752 were undergoing routine medication treatment (RMT; the RMT group), whereas 1057 and 394 were receiving AIT and a combination of AIT and omalizumab (OMA) as adjunct therapies to RMT, respectively (AIT+RMT and AIT+OMA+RMT groups). The AIT group showed milder COVID-19 symptoms, shorter recovery periods, and a lower likelihood of hospitalization or emergency department visits than the RMT group (all P<.05). After adjusting for confounding factors, including demographic characteristics and COVID-19 vaccination, AIT remained a significant protective factor associated with shorter recovery time (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 0.62, 95% CI 0.52-0.75; adjusted P<.001) and a lower incidence of hospitalization or emergency department visits (adjusted OR 0.73, 95% CI 0.54-0.98; adjusted P=.03). Background: Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are a class of environmental chemicals with endocrine-disrupting properties. Epidemiologic studies have demonstrated that prenatal OPEs exposure is associated with neurodevelopmental disorders in offspring. However, studies assessing the effects of prenatal OPEs exposure on the dynamic changes in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms in preschoolers are scarce. Since vitamin D has been demonstrated to have a "neuroprotective" effect, the modifying effects of maternal vitamin D were estimated., Methods: The present study included 2410 pregnant women from the Ma'anshan Birth Cohort. The levels of OPEs in the mothers' urine were examined in the three trimesters. The Chinese version of the Conners Abbreviated Symptom Questionnaire was used to examine preschoolers' ADHD symptoms at 3, 5, and 6 years of age. ADHD symptom trajectories were fitted via group-based trajectory modeling. We used multinomial logistic regression, Bayesian kernel machine regression, quantile-based g-computation, and generalized linear models to assess individual and mixed relationships between OPEs during pregnancy and preschoolers' ADHD symptoms and trajectories., Results: Preschoolers' ADHD symptom scores were fitted to 3 trajectories, including the low-score, moderate-score, and high-score groups. First-trimester dibutyl phosphate (DBP), second-trimester bis(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate (BBOEP), and third-trimester diphenyl phosphate (DPHP) were associated with an increased risk in the high-score group (p < 0.05). BBOEP in the third trimester was associated with decreased risk in the moderate-score group (OR = 0.89, 95% CI: 0.79, 1.00). For mothers with 25(OH)D deficiency, a positive relationship was observed between OPEs during pregnancy and symptom trajectories. Our results did not reveal any mixed effects of OPEs on ADHD symptom trajectories., Conclusion: Prenatal exposure to OPEs had heterogeneous associations with ADHD symptom trajectories in preschoolers. Aims: Previous studies have shown that higher hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels within the normal range during pregnancy can increase the risk of adverse birth outcomes. However, the effects of the longitudinal HbA1c trajectory during pregnancy on adverse birth outcomes among non-gestational diabetic women are poorly characterized. We aimed to identify HbA1c trajectory during pregnancy among non-gestational diabetic women and to estimate their associations with adverse birth outcomes., Methods: Data was extracted from the Information System of Guangdong Women and Children Hospital, China, from January 2017 to July 2022. This study involved 13,979 women who did not have gestational diabetes mellitus and underwent repeated HbA1c measurements during pregnancy. Latent mixture modeling was used to identify HbA1c trajectory groups. Logistic regression was applied to explore the associations between HbA1c trajectory groups and adverse birth outcomes, including preterm delivery, low birth weight, macrosomia, small for gestational age, and large for gestational age (LGA)., Results: Three HbA1c trajectory groups were identified: low-stable (range 4.0% [20 mmol/mol]-4.4% [25 mmol/mol]), moderate-stable (range 4.6% [27 mmol/mol]-5.1% [32 mmol/mol]), and elevated-increasing (range 5.0% [31 mmol/mol]-5.6% [38 mmol/mol]). Compared with the low-stable HbA1c group, the elevated-increasing group had a higher risk of preterm delivery and LGA. The adjusted OR (95% CIs) were 1.67 (1.13, 2.49) and 1.47 (1.01, 2.12) for preterm delivery and LGA, respectively., Conclusions: Among non-gestational diabetic women, the elevated-increasing HbA1c trajectory group was associated with a higher risk of preterm delivery and LGA. Background: Inconsistent associations between antenatal depression and fetal birth weight were reported previously, and little is known about the dynamic changes and long-term cumulative effect of antenatal depression during pregnancy., Methods: Participants were from the Tongji-Huaxi-Shuangliu Birth Cohort. Depressive symptoms were measured using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale in early, middle, and late pregnancy respectively. Trajectories of antenatal depression were assessed using the latent class mixed model. The percentage of days with depression (PDD) and frequency of antenatal depression were measured to assess the cumulative exposure. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to evaluate the associations of antenatal depression with macrosomia and large for gestational age (LGA)., Results: We identified four distinct trajectories, including the low stable group (n = 1,327, 27.99 %), the moderate stable group (n = 2,610, 55.05 %), the peak group (n = 407, 8.58 %), and the valley group (n = 397, 8.37 %). Compared with the low stable group, the valley group showed a higher risk of macrosomia (OR, 1.98; 95 % CI, 1.17, 3.38) and LGA (OR, 1.44; 95 % CI, 1.002, 2.09); the peak group showed a higher risk of LGA (OR, 1.52; 95 % CI, 1.07, 2.16), but the association was not significant for macrosomia (OR, 1.47; 95 % CI, 0.85, 2.55). Objectives: This study aimed to enrich the research on frailty trajectories by using FRAIL scale and frailty index (FI), and analyze the determinants of the different trajectories in older Chinese., Methods: 2268 older adults from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey were included. The FRAIL scale was constructed from 5 items and FI was constructed from 39 deficits. Latent Class Trajectory Model was used to depict frailty trajectories. Lasso - logistic model was applied to exploration of influencing factors., Results: Four FRAIL trajectories and three FI trajectories were identified. Women, smoking, illiteracy, more than two chronic diseases, and poor instrumental activities of daily living (all p < 0.05) were associated with frailty trajectories, regardless of the frailty instrument employed., Conclusions: Frailty trajectories of older Chinese adults are diverse and they are influenced by different frailty measurement tools. Introduction: Older adults with multimorbidity are at high risk of cognitive impairment development. There is a lack of research on the associations between different multimorbidity measures and cognitive function among older Chinese adults living in the community., Methods: We used the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey from 2002 to 2018 and included data on dementia-free participants aged ≥65 years. Multimorbidity measures included condition counts, multimorbidity patterns, and trajectories. The association of multimorbidity measures with cognitive function was examined by generalized estimating equation and linear and logistic regression models., Results: Among 14,093 participants at baseline, 43.2% had multimorbidity. Multimorbidity patterns were grouped into cancer-inflammatory, cardiometabolic, and sensory patterns. Multimorbidity trajectories were classified as "onset-condition," "newly developing," and "severe condition." The Mini-Mental State Examination scores were significantly lower for participants with more chronic conditions, with cancer-inflammatory/cardiometabolic/sensory patterns, and with developing multimorbidity trajectories., Discussion: Condition counts, sensory pattern, cardiometabolic pattern, cancer-inflammatory pattern, and multimorbidity developmental trajectories were prospectively associated with cognitive function., Highlights: Elderly individuals with a higher number of chronic conditions were associated with lower MMSE scores in the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey data. Background: Whether cognitive ageing trajectory is related to common functional deficits independent of initial cognitive function remains inconclusive. A group-based trajectory model was used to estimate cognitive ageing trajectories. Multivariable-adjusted odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were computed with logistic regression models to identify potential baseline determinants and health effect of cognitive trajectories on various adverse outcomes.Results: Two distinct cognitive ageing trajectories were identified with about 5.3% of the study participants ascribed to the rapidly decreasing group. Subjects with rapidly decreasing cognition showed significantly higher odds (OR, 95%CI) of experiencing frailty (4.04, 2.77-5.86), falls (2.01, 1.05-3.70), balance impairment (4.20, 2.75-6.38), high fall risk (5.66, 2.67-11.77) based on the Tinetti total score, disability in activities of daily living (1.76, 1.19-2.56), disability in instrumental activities of daily living (1.52, 1.05-2.19), and motor cognitive risk syndrome (2.24, 1.23-3.98) compared with their steadily decreasing counterparts. Individuals with older age, low education level, no marriage, high score of rapid eye movement behavior disorders, poor physical and cognitive function at baseline were more predisposed to an accelerated cognitive decline.Conclusions: Faster cognitive decline was independently associated with higher risk of multiple adverse events. Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a significant toll on people worldwide for more than 2 years. Previous studies have highlighted the negative effects of COVID-19 on the mental health of healthcare workers (HCWs) more than the positive changes, such as post-traumatic growth (PTG). Furthermore, most previous studies were cross-sectional surveys without follow-ups. This study draws on PTG follow-up during the COVID-19 outbreak at 12-month intervals for 2 years since 2020. The trajectories and baseline predictors were described. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to recruit frontline nurses or doctors at the COVID-19-designated hospital who were eligible for this study. A total of 565 HCWs completed the 2 years follow-up and were used for final data analysis. The latent growth mixture models (GMM) was used to identify subgroups of participants with different PTG trajectories. Multinomial logistic regression model was used to find predictors among sociodemographic characteristics and resilience at baseline. Results: Four trajectory PTG types among HCWs were identified: ‘Persistent, “Steady increase”, “High with drop”, and “Fluctuated rise.” Comparing the “Persistent low” type, the other three categories were all associated with older age, higher education. Furthermore, “Persistent low” was also negatively associated with resilience at baseline. Conclusion: The PTG of HCWs with different characteristics showed different trends over time. Little is known about the impact of modifiable risk factors on blood pressure (BP) trajectories and their associations with hypertension (HTN). We aimed to identify BP trajectories in normotensive Chinese adults and explore their influencing factors and associations with HTN. We used data from 3436 adults with at least four BP measurements between 1989 and 2018 in the China Health and Nutrition Survey, an ongoing cohort study. We measured BP using mercury sphygmomanometers with appropriate cuff sizes in all surveys. We used group-based trajectory modelling to identify BP trajectories between 1989 and 2009 and multiple logistic and Cox regression models to analyse their influencing factors and associations with HTN in 2011–2018. We identified five systolic blood pressure (SBP) trajectories, 'Low-increasing (LI)', 'Low–stable (LS)', 'Moderate-increasing (MI)', 'High-stable (HS)' and 'Moderate-decreasing (MD)', and four diastolic blood pressure (DBP) trajectories classified as 'Low-increasing (LI)', 'Moderate–stable (MS)', 'Low-stable (LS)' and 'High-increasing (HI)'. People with higher physical activity (PA) levels and lower waist circumferences (WC) were less likely to be in the SBP LI, MI, HS and MD groups (P < 0·05). People with higher fruit and vegetable intakes, lower WCs and salt intakes and higher PA levels were less likely to be in the DBP LI, MS and HI groups (P < 0·05). Participants in the SBP HS group (hazard ratio (HR) 2·01) or the DBP LI, MS and HI groups (HR 1·38, 1·40, 1·71, respectively) had higher risks of HTN (P < 0·05). Objective: To evaluate the relationships of pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and gestational weight gain (GWG) trajectory with adverse perinatal outcomes (APOs). Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in China, and 12 855 women who had a singleton birth were included. The WHO classification categorized prepregnancy BMI, and five GWG trajectories were identified using the latent class growth model. Results: The adjusted odds ratios for the risks of cesarean delivery, preterm birth, and large-for-gestational-age (LGA) infant were significantly higher in women with whoe were overweight or obese pre-pregnancy, but were lower in underweight (except preterm birth) than in normal weight women. Five GWG trajectories were identified: (1) retaining GWG (6.6 kg), (2) moderately slow GWG (10.5 kg), (3) moderate GWG (13.7 kg), (4) moderately fast GWG (16.3 kg), and (5) rapid GWG (19.8 kg). Compared with women in trajectory 3, the risks of cesarean delivery and LGA increase by about 35%–96% for the women in trajectory 4 or 5, whereas the women in trajectory 1 or 2 are inclined to have a higher risk of small for gestational age, but lower risk of LGA. Association of GWG trajectory with APOs varies across pre-pregnancy BMI subgroups. Over 10 billion packages are picked up every day in China. A fundamental task raised in the emerging intelligent logistics systems is the couriers' package pick-up route prediction, which is beneficial for package dispatching, arrival-time estimation and overdue-risk evaluation, by leveraging the predicted routes to improve those downstream tasks. In the package pick-up scene, the decision-making of a courier is affected by strict spatial-temporal constraints (e.g., package location, promised pick-up time, current time, and courier's current location). Furthermore, couriers have different decision preferences on various factors (e.g., time factor, distance factor, and balance of both), based on their own perception of the environments and work experience. In this article, we propose a novel model, named DeepRoute+, to predict couriers' future package pick-up routes according to the couriers' decision experience and preference learned from the historical behaviors. Specifically, DeepRoute+ consists of three layers: (1) The representation layer produces experience- and preference-aware representations for the unpicked-up packages, in which a decision preference module can dynamically adjust the importance of factors that affects the courier's decision under the current situation. (2) The transformer encoder layer encodes the representations of packages while considering the spatial-temporal correlations among them. (3) The attention-based decoder layer uses the attention mechanism to generate the whole pick-up route recurrently. In Hubei, China, where the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic first emerged, the government has enforced strict quarantine and lockdown measures. Longitudinal studies suggest that the impact of adverse events on psychological adjustment is highly heterogenous. To better understand protective and risk factors that predict longitudinal psychopathology and resilience following strict COVID-19 lockdowns, this study used unsupervised machine learning to identify half-year longitudinal trajectories (April, June, August, and October, 2020) of three mental health outcomes (depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder [PTSD]) among a sample of Hubei residents (N = 326), assessed a broad range of person- and context-level predictors, and applied least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression, a supervised machine learning approach, to select best predictors for trajectory memberships of resilience and chronic psychopathology. Across outcomes, most individuals remained resilient. Models with both person- and context-level predictors showed excellent predictive accuracy, except for models predicting chronic anxiety. The person-level models showed either good or excellent predictive accuracy. The context-level models showed good predictive accuracy for depression trajectories but were only fair in predicting trajectories of anxiety and PTSD. Overall, the most critical person-level predictors were worry, optimism, fear of COVID, and coping flexibility, whereas important context-level predictors included features of stressful life events, community satisfaction, and family support. This study identified clinical patterns of response to COVID-19 lockdowns and used a combination of risk and protective factors to accurately differentiate these patterns. The Comprehensive Research Facility for Fusion Technology (CRAFT), National big science facility in China, is focused on exploring and building key technologies and prototype systems for Chinese Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR). The toroidal field (TF) coil is one of the most important parts of CRAFT, targeting at manufacturing a prototype TF coil for CFETR. The TF coil is gigantic “D” shape, consists of a winding pack (WP) enclosed in the coil case. The WP is composed of 3 sub-WPs, called low, medium, and high field WPs. Limited by the unit length of the conductor, each sub-WP contains 1–4 subwindings connected by joints. In this article, the layout of the winding line, function, and main features of each unit are introduced, followed by the calculation of the winding trajectory. The present study aims to explore the potential changing trajectory patterns of body mass index (BMI) for Chinese young adults and identify the relationship of BMI trajectory patterns with kidney stone disease (KSD) incidence. Latent class growth analysis was used to identify distinct trajectories of BMI during young adulthood. Cox proportion hazard models were conducted to explore the association between the BMI trajectory group memberships and incident KSD. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were undertaken to test the robustness of the findings. In total, 2,966 young adults who attended at least three annual check-ups from 2014 to 2021 without KSD at baseline were enrolled in the cohort analysis. Three district BMI trajectories were identified for young adults, labeled as low-stable in normal BMI (28.5%), medium-rising to high BMI (67.4%), and rapid-rising to high BMI (4.1%). Compared with the low-stable in normal BMI group, Hazard ratios (HRs) of the rapid-rising and medium-rising to high BMI groups were 3.19 (95% CI: 1.54-6.63) and 1.78 (95% CI: 1.08-2.92) after adjusting the covariates. The cumulative incidence curves likewise illustrated that young adults in the rapid-rising to high BMI group had the highest risk of developing KSD compared to the other two groups. The rapid BMI growth trajectories during young adulthood were identified to be independently associated with a higher risk of KSD. Background: A high triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) is associated with a higher risk of incident heart failure. However, the effects of longitudinal patterns of TyG index on the risk of heart failure remain to be characterized. Therefore, in the present study, we aimed to characterize the relationship between the trajectory of TyG index and the risk of heart failure., Methods: We performed a prospective study of 56,149 participants in the Kailuan study who attended three consecutive surveys in 2006-2007, 2008-2009, and 2010-2011 and had no history of heart failure or cancer before the third wave survey (2010-2011). The TyG index was calculated as ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2], and we used latent mixture modeling to characterize the trajectory of the TyG index over the period 2006-2010. Additionally, Cox proportional risk models were used to calculate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for incident heart failure for the various TyG index trajectory groups., Results: From 2006 to 2010, four different TyG trajectories were identified: low-stable (n = 13,554; range, 7.98-8.07), moderate low-stable (n = 29,435; range, 8.60-8.65), moderate high-stable (n = 11,262; range, 9.31-9.30), and elevated-stable (n = 1,898; range, 10.04-10.25). A total of 1,312 new heart failure events occurred during a median follow-up period of 10.04 years. After adjustment for potential confounders, the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for incident heart failure for the elevated-stable, moderate high-stable, and moderate low-stable groups were 1.55 (1.15, 2.08), 1.32 (1.08, 1.60), and 1.17 (0.99, 1.37), respectively, compared to the low-stable group., Conclusions: Higher TyG index trajectories were associated with a higher risk of heart failure. Background: The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) has been shown to be positively correlated with cardiovascular events. However, it remains unclear whether hypertensive patients with long-term high AIP levels are at greater risk of developing heart failure (HF). Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the association between AIP trajectory and the incidence of HF in hypertensive patients., Methods: This prospective study included 22,201 hypertensive patients from the Kailuan Study who underwent three waves of surveys between 2006 and 2010. Participants were free of HF or cancer before or during 2010. The AIP was calculated as the logarithmic conversion ratio of triglycerides to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Latent mixed modeling was employed to identify different trajectory patterns for AIP during the exposure period (2006-2010). Cox proportional hazard models were then used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for incident HF among different trajectory groups., Results: Four distinct trajectory patterns were identified through latent mixture modeling analysis: low-stable group (n = 3,373; range, -0.82 to -0.70), moderate-low stable group (n = 12,700; range, -0.12 to -0.09), moderate-high stable group (n = 5,313; range, 0.53 to 0.58), and elevated-increasing group (n = 815; range, 1.22 to 1.56). During a median follow-up period of 9.98 years, a total of 822 hypertensive participants experienced HF. After adjusting for potential confounding factors, compared with those in the low-stable group, the HR and corresponding CI for incident HF in the elevated-increasing group, moderate-high stable group, and moderate-low stable group were estimated to be 1.79 (1.21,2.66), 1.49 (1.17,1.91), and 1.27 (1.02,1.58), respectively. These findings remained consistent across subgroup analyses and sensitivity analyses., Conclusion: Prolonged elevation of AIP in hypertensive patients is significantly associated with an increased risk of HF. Study Objectives: The reduction in daytime sleep during early life is considered one of the indicators of the maturation of sleep patterns, which is closely associated with cognitive development. The current study aims to analyze the relationships between daytime sleep duration (DSD) during infancy and cognitive development at 6 and 10 years., Methods: The study included 262 mothers with their newborns from the Shanghai Sleep Birth Cohort Study, spanning 11 follow-ups from 42 days to 10 years. Sleep parameters were assessed using parent-reported questionnaires at each follow-up, and cognitive development was evaluated with the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, fourth edition at 6 and 10 years., Results: Two distinct DSD trajectories in early childhood were identified: "typical DSD" (66.7%) and "infancy excessive DSD" (33.3%). Children in the "infancy excessive DSD" trajectory exhibited lower working memory scores than those in the "typical DSD" trajectory at 6 years (mean difference = 5.90, 95% confidence interval [1.83, 9.96], P = .005) and 10 years (mean difference = 4.37, 95% confidence interval [0.26, 8.48], P = .037). Additional analysis in a relatively homogeneous sample consistently showed correlations between DSD trajectories and working memory performance. No consistent significant differences were found in other domains of cognitive development., Conclusions: Excessive daytime sleep during infancy may serve as an early indicator for poor working memory at school age. The brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) (BPH), is a major, regionally migratory pest of rice in Asia. Despite intensive migratory studies, the seasonal migratory pattern of this species in the year-round breeding region (i.e., Hainan Island) remains largely unknown. To understand the migration dynamics, we conducted relevant research based on BPH light trap catches on Hainan in 2017-2022. Results showed that the occurrence dynamics of BPH in Hainan oscillated in different years and seasons. Overall, there are 4 migration peak periods on Hainan, with outbound peak periods in April-May and August-September and inbound peak periods in June and October. Trajectory and wind fields showed that in August-September, Hainan had complex meteorological conditions, and the outbound paths of BPH were variable, mainly landing in southeastern Guangxi and southwestern Guangdong. In contrast, April-May was influenced by southeasterly winds, with a wider outbound range and a further distance, landing along northeastern Vietnam from west to east toward Guangxi and Guangdong areas with time. Wind-rain fields, trajectory, and hydrogen isotope showed that in June, southwesterly winds transported BPH northward from the Indochina peninsula, where it was hindered by rainfall in the Leizhou Peninsula area and the migrants will be "rained out" into Hainan. Identically, in October, the interactions between northeasterly winds and rainfall belts on the southwest shore of Hainan increased the opportunities for BPH to migrate southward to reach Hainan. Background: Concerns remain about the neurotoxic properties of the ubiquitous organophosphate esters (OPEs), the replacement of the toxicant polybrominated diphenyl ethers., Objectives: We examined the associations of prenatal exposure to OPEs and their mixtures with early-life neurodevelopment trajectories., Methods: Totally 1276 mother-child pairs were recruited from the Shanghai Maternal-Child Pairs Cohort. A high-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometer was used to measure the levels of 7 OPEs in cord serum. Ages and Stages Questionnaires was used to examine children's neuropsychological development at 2, 6, 12, and 24 months of age. Group-based trajectory models were applied to derive the neurodevelopmental trajectories. Multiple linear regression and logistic regression model were performed to assess the relationships between OPEs exposure and neurodevelopment and trajectories. Mixtures for widely detected OPEs (n = 4) were investigated using quantile-based g-computation., Results: Tributyl phosphate (TBP), tris (2-butoxy ethyl) phosphate (TBEP), tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCPP), and 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate (EHDPP), had detection rates >50 %. TDCPP had the highest median concentration (1.02 μg/L) in cord serum. EHDPP concentrations were negatively associated with scores in most domains at 12 months of age, with effect values (β) ranging from -1.89 to -0.57. EHDPP could negatively affect the total ASQ (OR = 1.07, 95 % CI: 1, 1.15) and gross-motor (OR = 1.09, 95 % CI: 1.02, 1.17) trajectory in infancy. Joint exposure to OPEs was associated with decreased scores in the total ASQ, gross-motor, fine-motor and problem-solving domain of 12-month-old infants, with β ranging from -5.93 to -1.25. In addition, the qgcomp models indicated significant positive associations between the concentrations of OPEs mixtures and risks of the persistently low group of the total ASQ, gross-motor and fine-motor development in early childhood. Background: Abnormal sleep duration has been identified as a risk factor for cognitive decline. However, most studies have measured sleep duration and cognitive function at a single time point, while both tend to decrease with age. Aims: This study aimed to investigate the association between changes in sleep duration patterns and cognitive trajectories in older adults. Methods: Using longitudinal data (2005–2014) from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey, a total of 4347 subjects were included in this study. Cognitive function was measured with the Chinese version of the Mini-Mental State Examination. Group-based trajectory models were used to identify the trajectories of sleep duration and cognitive decline within the study sample as the participants aged. Furthermore, the association between sleep duration patterns and cognitive trajectories was examined by multinomial logistic regression analysis. Results: Using the medium-stable sleep duration pattern as a reference, the trajectory with a long and increased sleep duration pattern was more likely to be associated with the slight cognitive decline trajectory (OR = 1.80; 95% CI 1.31–2.44). Persistent short sleep was associated with a decreased likelihood of having a rapid cognitive decline trajectory (OR = 0.32; 95% CI 0.12–0.75). Discussion: Changes in sleep duration over time were independently associated with cognitive decline and may be a marker of cognitive decline. Conclusions: Tracking of sleep duration over time in older adults may provide a useful insight for prevention of cognitive decline, and the increased sleep duration should be noticed with greater vigilance. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyse the trajectories of depression in urban and rural areas, and to analyse the relationship among multimorbidity, disability and other variables and trajectories. Methods: Data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study were used. A latent class growth model was used to characterise the trajectories of urban and rural depression symptoms. Chi-square test was used to test the differences in respondents' characteristics among depression trajectories groups within urban and rural areas. The relationships among multimorbidity, disability and depression symptom trajectories were analysed via multinomial logistic regression. Results: Urban and rural depression trajectories were divided into three categories. Respondents in urban areas were divided into rising, remaining-low and declining group, and those in rural areas were divided into rising, remaining-low and remaining-high group. The depression scores of respondents with multimorbidity were more likely to rise, and this result was similar for the disabled respondents. Respondents who need help on activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living in urban areas were more likely to decline in depression scores. In rural areas, however, the values were consistently high. In urban and rural areas, the relationships among marital status, education and age and depression trajectories were different. Conclusions: The depression trajectories are different in urban and rural China. Improving the quality of medical services, promoting the distribution of rural social resources and implementing more recreational activities could be beneficial for the promotion of mental health in rural areas. Motivated by the China's five element philosophy (CFEP), we construct a permuted Volterra quadratic stochastic operator acting on the four-dimensional simplex. This operator (depending on 10 parameters) is considered as an evolution operator for CFEP. We study the discrete-time dynamical system generated by this operator. Mainly our results related to a symmetric operator (depending on one parameter). We show that this operator has a unique fixed point, which is repeller. Moreover, in the case of non-zero parameter, it has two 5-periodic orbits. We divide the simplex to four subsets: the first set consists a single point (the fixed point); the second (resp. third) set is the set of initial point trajectories of which converge to the first (resp. second) 5-periodic orbit; the fourth subset is the set of initial point trajectories of which do not converge and their sets of limit points are infinite and lie on the boundary of the simplex. Time delays are inevitable in the power systems with wide-area control signals, which may compromise the control pe-rformance and thus jeopardize the stability of the power systems. To analyze the impacts of system parameters on critical oscillation modes of a time-delayed power system (TDPS), a new method for eigenvalue trajectory tracking of TDPS is proposed in this paper based on the continuation theory of invariant subspaces. When small changes are imposed on system parameters, such as parameters of wide-area damping controllers (WADCs) and time delays, the invariant subspaces are continuously predicted and corrected, followed by the eigenvalues and eigenvectors. In the process, the predictor and corrector are computed by solving linear equations sparsely and in blocks, which is highly scalable and computationally efficient for large-scale power system applications. The 16-generator 68-bus test system and two real-world power grids in China are used to test and demonstrate the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method can accurately and efficiently track eigenvalue trajectories for TDPS, especially for large-scale power grids. In addition, the sensitivities of eigenvalues and eigenvectors with respect to WADCs’ parameters and time delays are obtained as by-products of the approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Handgrip strength in older adults is a dynamic developmental process, and it changes over time. • The handgrip strength (HGS) of the elderly in China includes four heterogeneous development trajectories: low level-declining group, upper middle level group, high level-steady group, and lower middle level group. • There is an association between the trajectories of HGS and motoric cognitive risk syndrome (MCR) in older adults. Individuals in the low level-declining group were more likely to experience MCR. To identify heterogeneous developmental trajectories of handgrip strength (HGS) in Chinese older adults and to explore the relationship between different developmental trajectories and motoric cognitive risk syndrome (MCR). We used three waves of longitudinal data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study from 2011 to 2015, which involved 3773 older adults. Growth mixture modeling (GMM) was used to estimate trajectory classes for HGS, followed by binary logistic regression to explore the association between trajectory classes and MCR. GMM analyses extracted four distinct trajectories of HGS: low level-declining group (16.0 %), upper middle level group (30.9 %), high level-steady group (9.5 %), and lower middle level group (43.6 %). In addition, we found that even after adjusting for important covariates, the odds of MCR prevalence were lower in the medium level-high group, high level-steady group, and medium level-low group compared with the low level-declining group. Appreciable heterogeneity in HGS among older people in China was revealed. Only 9.5 % of older people with HGS in the high level-steady group. And poorer grip strength levels mean a higher risk of MCR. Therefore, interventions should be taken to maintain muscle mass and thus prevent MCR in older adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: China has witnessed a significant nutritional transition. However, there is a gap in the literature investigating the association between change of diet and mortality among Chinese. Thus, we aimed to explore the longitudinal trajectories of diet quality over 10 years (from 1997 to 2006) and the subsequent risk of death till 2015 among Chinese adults. Methods: Data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey were analyzed in 6398 adults. Dietary intake was assessed using three consecutive 24-h recalls. Diet quality was assessed by the Chinese Healthy Eating Index (CHEI), which includes 17 components and is based on the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese. Latent Class Growth Analysis was conducted to derive trajectories of diet quality over 10 years. Cox proportional hazard regression was used to calculate hazard ratios for total mortality. Results: Four distinct CHEI trajectories were identified: 1) worsening; 2) low-moderate-low; 3) improving; 4) high-moderate-high. Group 3 had the lowest mortality rate (5.6%) in the subsequent 9 years, while the groups with worsening or low diet quality had a higher mortality rate (Group 1: 7.5%; Group 2: 10.8%). In the fully adjusted model, compared to group 2, mortality rates were lower for group 3 (RR = 0.73; 95% CI: 0.55, 0.97) and group 4 (RR = 0.76; 95% CI: 0.59, 0.98). No associations with mortality were found for the group 1, when compared to group 2. Conclusions: Long-term improved diet quality and adherence to the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese may decrease the risk of death in Chinese adults. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Research has shown that intrapersonal, interpersonal, and stress factors are associated with development in marital satisfaction. However, the unique contributions of early predictors and changes in these factors to the development of marital satisfaction have been overlooked. Based on data from 268 Chinese newlywed couples (Mage = 29.59, SD = 3.25 for husbands; Mage = 28.08, SD = 2.51 for wives), the current study used latent growth curve model to examine (a) the development of marital satisfaction and the unique contributions of the intrapersonal, interpersonal, and stress predictors to the developmental trajectories (i.e., the initial level and change) of marital satisfaction; (b) whether the intrapersonal, interpersonal, and stress predictors develop over time; and (c) how trajectories of these predictor domains are associated with changes in marital satisfaction. The results indicated that interpersonal variables, rather than intrapersonal or stress predictors at baseline, were associated with both the initial levels of and changes in marital satisfaction; in contrast, only the changes in the stress levels were found to be related to changes in marital satisfaction. Problem: Systemic chronic inflammation (SCI) is a prevalent characteristic observed in various diseases originating from different tissues, while the association of SCI with preterm birth (PTB) remains uncertain. This study aimed to analyze the association between a nonspecific biomarker of SCI and PTB, while also exploring the trajectories of SCI in pregnant women at risk of PTB., Method of Study: The study used data from the Electronic Medical Record System (EMRS) of a hospital in Zhejiang, China and 9226 pregnant women were included. The duration of pregnancy was categorized into four distinct periods: the first, early-second, late-second, and third trimester. Latent class trajectory modeling (LCTM) was used to identify the trajectories of SCI during pregnancy., Results: The elevated WBC counts in the late-second (OR = 1.14, 95% CI: 1.06-1.23) and third (OR = 1.16, 95% CI: 1.09-1.24) trimester were both positively associated with an evaluated risk of PTB. Moreover, significant dose-response relationships were observed. There were three distinct SCI trajectories found: progressing SCI (2.89%), high SCI (7.13%), and low SCI (89.98%). Pregnant women with progressive SCI had the highest risk of PTB (OR = 3.03, 95% CI: 1.47-6.25)., Conclusions: In conclusion, elevated SCI after 23 weeks was a risk factor for PTB in healthy women, even if the SCI indicator was within normal range.
