Adolescents in affluent nations have experienced a decline in sleep duration, associated with adverse outcomes such as behavioral issues and health concerns. However, the connection between sleep and mental well-being during adolescence, particularly in developing regions like rural China, remains underexplored. A cross-sectional study of 18,516 adolescents in 124 junior high schools in Ningxia, China, utilized the strengths and difficulties questionnaire to assess mental health. The findings highlighted a complex, nonlinear link between sleep duration and mental health, with a U-shaped trend for overall difficulties and an inverse U-shape for prosocial behavior. The study also explored potential mechanisms behind these relationships, suggesting that time allocation to activities such as screen time and outdoor activities could mediate the effects of sleep duration on mental health. Longer sleep durations could lead to less screen time and more outdoor engagement, both of which positively affect mental well-being. Balanced sleep duration is crucial for adolescent mental health. The study calls for interventions to improve sleep hygiene and mental health services in rural areas, emphasizing the need for policy support to address sleep deprivation and its impact on mental well-being. With growing recognition of the importance of community engagement in addressing public health challenges, its role in promoting healthy behaviors and preventing infectious diseases has gained attention. However, vaccination coverage remains a significant concern in many developing countries. While previous studies have linked community engagement to positive health outcomes, there is a gap in understanding its influence on individual vaccination choices, particularly in the context of developing countries. Utilizing data from the 2021 Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS), this study examines the impact of community engagement on COVID-19 and flu vaccination uptake among 7281 individuals. Community engagement, measured by community vaccination notifications, serves as the key independent variable. The study employs Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression and Propensity Score Matching (PSM) methods to analyze the relationship between community engagement and vaccination behavior. The analysis reveals a positive association between community engagement and vaccination rates. Specifically, individuals receiving notifications were more likely to get the COVID-19 vaccine compared to non-recipients (vaccination rates: 100% vs. 53.3%), and flu vaccination rates were also significantly higher among those notified (2.7% vs. 1.9%). Mechanism analysis suggests that individuals receiving community notifications are more aware of the benefits of vaccination, leading to higher vaccination rates among this group. This study underscores the effectiveness of community engagement strategies in promoting positive vaccination behavior among individuals in China. By enhancing awareness and trust in immunization, community engagement initiatives play a crucial role in shaping health behaviors and improving vaccination uptake. Background: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the significance of vaccination has been emphatically underscored. As the foremost and pivotal measure for preventing COVID-19 transmission, the COVID-19 pneumonia vaccine plays an instrumental role in the global response to this infectious respiratory disease. However, COVID-19 vaccination coverage remains challenging in low- and middle-income countries and regions. Studies have found that frequent seeking to health information is also associated with healthier behaviors, but these studies have not yet focused on the impact of Internet health information seeking on individual vaccination and the mechanism of this effect. Methods: Data were obtained from the Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) conducted in 2021, which included 7,218 individual samples. This study used COVID-19 vaccination as indicators for the health of interest, the key independent variable is Internet health information seeking. This study tried to analyze the impact of Internet health information seeking on COVID-19 vaccination using an OLS model and PSM method. Results: The results show that Internet health information seeking has a significant positive impact on COVID-19 vaccination. This result passed a series of robustness tests. The mechanism analysis indicated that compared to non-Internet health information seeking individuals, Internet health information seeking individuals could know the superior advantages of vaccination and the potential for immunization through this method. And individuals who use Internet to seeking health information are more likely to acknowledge the constructive impact of online information on health behavior. This helps to explain why Internet health information seeking individuals have a higher rate of COVID-19 vaccination. Conclusions: This study delves into the influence of Internet health information seeking on individual COVID-19 vaccination within the digital era. The outcomes underscore that Internet-mediated seeking vaccine information holds the potential to bolster individuals' comprehension of vaccination benefits and foster increased acceptance of such information. PurposeMethodsResultsConclusionsThe aim of this study was to evaluate the myopia correction and its association with mental health problems among rural primary school students in China.Using survey data from 17,950 students in 251 rural primary schools, this study examines the association between corrected myopia and mental health problems, as well as academic performance among rural students in China. Vision exams were offered to sample students, and student mental health status was measured using the Mental Health Test (MHT).The results show that 21.98% of sample students failed the vision screening for myopia. Over 65% of sample students showed some form of anxiety, with 56.86% experiencing learning anxiety and 18.71% experiencing body anxiety. The MHT score of myopic students was higher than that of students with normal vision, indicating that myopic students had worse mental health overall. Correcting myopia with eyeglasses was associated with better mental health, indicated by a lower MHT score (by 0.62 points) when controlling for covariates. Myopic students with high baseline academic performance who wore eyeglasses benefited especially from myopia correction, as they had a lower total MHT score (by 1.77 points) and lower body anxiety score (by 0.49 points, p < 0.05) than their high-performing peers with uncorrected myopia.These findings suggest that future mental health prevention programs in rural China should focus on reducing the prevalence of myopia and providing eyeglasses to myopic students as potential interventions. The discoveries of oil and gas reservoirs in the volcanic rocks of the Songliao Basin (SB) have attracted the attention of many researchers. However, the lack of studies on the genesis of the volcanic rocks has led to different opinions being presented for the genesis of the SB. In order to solve this problem, this study selected the volcanic rocks of the Yingcheng Formation in the Southern Songliao Basin (SSB) as the research object, and determined the genesis and tectonic setting of the volcanic rocks by using LA‐ICP‐MS zircon U‐Pb dating and a geochemical analysis method (major elements, trace elements, and Hf isotopes). The volcanic rocks of the Yingcheng Formation are mainly composed of rhyolites with minor dacites and pyroclastic rocks. Our new zircon U‐Pb dating results show that these volcanic rocks were erupted in the Early Cretaceous (113–118 Ma). The primary zircons from the rhyolites have ∊Hf (t) values of +4.70 to +12.46 and two‐stage model age (TDM2) of 876–374 Ma. The geochemical data presented in this study allow these rhyolites to be divided into I‐type rhyolites and A‐type rhyolites, both of which were formed by the partial melting of the crust. They have SiO2 contents of 71.62 wt.%–75.76 wt.% and Al2O3 contentsof 10.88 wt.% to 12.92 wt.%. The rhyolites have distinctively higher REE contents than those of ordinary granites, with obvious negative Eu anomalies. The light to heavy REE fractionation is not obvious, and the LaN/YbN (average value = 9.78) is less than 10. The A‐type rhyolites depleted in Ba, Sr, P, and Ti, with relatively low Nb/Ta, indicating that the rocks belong A2 subtype granites formed in an extensional environment. The adakitic dacites are characterized by high Sr contents (624 to 1,082 ppm), low Y contents (10.6 to 12.6 ppm), high Sr/Y and Sr/Yb ratios, and low Mg# values (14.77 to 36.46), indicating that they belong to "C" type adakites. The adakitic dacite with high Sr and low Yb were likely generated by partial melting of the lower crust under high pressure conditions at least 40 km depth. The I‐type rhyolites with low Sr and high Yb, and the A‐type rhyolites with very low Sr and high Yb, were formed in the middle and upper crust under low pressure conditions, respectively. In addition, the formation depths of the former were approximately 30 km, whereas those of the latter were less than 30 km. The geochemical characteristics reveal that the volcanic rocks of Yingcheng Formation were formed in an extensional environment which was related to the retreat of subducted Paleo‐Pacific Plate. At the late Early Cretaceous Period, the upwelling of the asthenosphere mantle and the lithosphere delamination caused by the retreat of the subducted Paleo‐Pacific Plate, had resulted in lithosheric extension in the eastern part of China. Tomb orientation is a serious matter in mortuary ritual. By contextualizing the predominant orientation of a cemetery, we may find the religious belief of afterlife. In the case of the Guo cemetery (770 B.C. to 665 B.C.), China, most burials were aligned with their heads to the north which is slightly deviated to the east. Such an orientation is definitely pointing to the North Polar Star, which is the abode of the Supreme One in later religious belief of the heaven (Note in Fig.8 the shift due to precession of the equinox of Polar Star (Polaris) from 17o NE in 800 BC to 341o NW in 600 BC). In textual materials the target of the tomb occupants heading to is the Dark Capital of the underworld, also located to the to the north end of the universe. Considering the identical locations of the North Polar Star and the Dark Capital, we may conclude that both the Heavenly Court and the Underground Capital are located in the center of the supernatural world. From the distribution of the Guo cemetery, we can sense two layers of motions, the tomb occupants are heading and ready to depart to the center of the supernatural world. The tomb is the home of the dead, and the posthumous journey to the center of the supernatural world is to report their arriving, in order to live a better life in the other world. Placing the dead with their head toward north is a common practice of the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, and the change of deviation from west to east coincides with the change of the North Polar Star from Thuban to Kochab, hence, the religious belief about the afterlife observed from the Guo cemetery should be a common for Chinese Bronze Age. The mechanism that triggered large-scale Late Mesozoic magmatism in the northeastern Great Xing'an Range (NE GXAR) is strongly controversial. In this paper, we present whole rock geochemistry and zircon trace element, U-Pb and Hf isotopic data on the volcanic rocks in the Longjiang and Guanghua formations in the northeastern Xing'an Block. Zircons with ages of 120–119 Ma indicate that these volcanic rocks were formed in the Early Cretaceous. Combined with previous data, it is clear that volcanic rocks in the NE GXAR erupted between 128 and 108 Ma. The andesite samples of the Longjiang Formation show high contents of Al2O3, CaO, and MgO, significant negative Nb, Ta, and Ti anomalies; εHf (t) values of zircons from the andesite sample vary from +4.13 to +7.67, indicating an enriched mantle source. The rhyolites of the Guanghua Formation show high SiO2 and K2O concentrations, low P2O5, MgO, Cr, and Ni contents and Mg# values. The positive εHf (t) values (+5.72 to +10.58) with two-stage Hf model ages ranging from 939 to 701 Ma indicate that the rhyolites are derived from the partial melting of basaltic lower crust. Combined with the regional geological evolution, we conclude that the generation of the Early Cretaceous volcanic rocks in the NE GXAR might be triggered by the dehydration, disintegration, and foundering of the Mongol-Okhotsk Oceanic flat-slab and the subsequent upwelling of the asthenosphere. The development status of rural informatization in Beijing was analyzed from three aspects, which include infrastructure building, resource platform and service system construction, and the information technology application in rural areas. The infrastructure building in Beijing had certain scale, and the network coverage in rural counties and the rate of network into villages almost reached 100%. The construction of resource platform and service systems was diversified and it provided various types of services for farmers'lives. However, the information platforms and sites were dispersive and needed to be integrated and shared. The typical '211 information platform is one system platform which integrated source and market the two things, which means the first '2'. It used fund which means the '1', and technology which means the other '1'as support, and government departments and all kinds of producers could do some information activities through this platform. It had strong inquiry, analysis and synthesis functions for decision-making services through integrated and shared municipal organizations and counties' agricultural resources. On the aspect of information technology application, informatization has enhanced the technology level of Beijing urban modern agriculture and sustainable development capacity. The application of public service, e-government and e-commerce facilitated farmers'lives, improved the development of government management and rural economy. In the future, the rural informatization still needs to strengthen the integration and sharing of agriculture-related resources, reduce the public service informatization gap between rural and urban areas, and improve farmers' informatization awareness. Abstract: Introduction: Brains are often subject to injurious effect following remote burn injury and increased productions of inflammatory cytokines are involved. It is also known that pentoxifylline (PTX) exerts multiple beneficial effects on the inflammatory cascade. Therefore, we investigated whether a single dose of PTX given immediately following severe remote burn would protect the brain from the injurious effects. Methods: Rats were divided randomly into the sham burn group, burn placebo-treated group and burn PTX-treated group. Single dose of PTX was injected 15min following initial burn injury. We measured the levels of tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and IL-10 in the brain tissue at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16h after burn. Other measures included the level of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) activation, glial activation and apoptosis of cortical cells. Results: PTX substantially suppressed the burn-induced surge in the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 in the rat-brain tissues. PTX reduced the level of burn-induced apoptosis. PTX also significantly reduced the activation of nuclear transcription factor NF-κB and reduced the activation of glial cells in the brain tissue. Conclusion: An early, single dose of PTX dramatically reduced brain inflammation and apoptosis for up to 16h post-injury. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

An integrated energy system (IES) is considered as an effective approach to reduce carbon emissions, lower energy supply costs and increase system flexibility. As numerous energy conversion and storage devices with various features have been developed, determining their types and capacity size and optimizing the synergic action of all selected energy devices under load uncertainty have become challenging issues during the planning and designing of a new IES. To address these issues, a load uncertainty model is constructed by integrating the regional equivalent standard building-integrated load prediction method, the robust uncertainty set method and the fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm. Based on this uncertainty model, this paper proposes a planning method that incorporates the fuzzy multi-objective decision and two-stage adaptive robust optimization methods for handling these challenging issues. The multi-objective decision method enables comprehensive optimization based on the system's economic performance, carbon emissions and grid integration level. The two-stage adaptive robust optimization method aims to optimize the single-objective problem transformed by the multi-objective decision method. The planning method is implemented in an industrial park in the Baoding City of China. The influence of load budget uncertainty, annual load growth rate and energy purchase price is then investigated. The results show that the load budget uncertainty and annual load growth rate only affect the optimal capacity size of the selected devices, whereas the energy purchase price influences both the optimal device types and their capacity size. The optimal capacity size remains constant when the load budget uncertainty exceeds 3. This study provides a methodology to select the suitable device types and determine their capacity size for IES under load uncertainty, which will benefit the design of a new IES. A total of 79 lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from traditional fermented dairy products in China were evaluated for the biofilm forming capacity using microtiter plates. Out of all LAB tested, 74 strains were able to form biofilm on abiotic surfaces and highly strain-specific. In particular, Lactobacillus plantarum J26 showed most potent activity for biofilm formation and could grow as biofilm observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Thus, the objective of this work was to investigate the characterization of biofilm formed by L. plantarum J26 and elucidate the underlying metabolic pathways based on transcriptomic sequencing. The results showed that 1051 genes were significantly differentially expressed in planktonic and biofilm conditions, of which 513 genes were up-regulated and 538 genes were down-regulated. Meanwhile, these genes were involved in such pathways as pyrimidine and glycerine metabolism, amino acids biosynthesis and stress response. In addition, extracellular enzymes (lp3014 and lp284), aspartate aminotransferase (pyrB), propylene glycol dehydrogenase (dhaT) and quorum sensing (luxS) played important roles in biofilm formation by L. plantarum J26. To sum up, these findings suggested that L. plantarum J26 could be useful for improving performance in the food industry and maintain probiotic functions in the gastrointestinal tract by forming biofilm. • Biofilm forming capacity of LAB was evaluated. • SEM was used to distinguish planktonic and biofilm growth. • Biofilm formation related to adhesion and tolerance ability. • lp3014, lp284, pyrB, dhaT and luxS genes played a role in biofilm formation.
