Accurate vessel travel time estimation is crucial for optimizing port operations and ensuring port safety. Existing vessel travel time prediction models primarily rely on path-finding algorithms and corresponding distance/speed relationships to calculate travel time. However, these models overlook the complex nature of vessel travel time, which is influenced by multiple traffic-related factors such as collision avoidance, shortest path selection, and vessel personnel performance. The lack of consideration for these specific aspects limits the accuracy and applicability of current models. We propose a novel context-aware deep learning approach for inland vessel travel time prediction. Firstly, we introduce a complex network that captures vessel–vessel interaction contexts, providing valuable traffic environment information as an input for the deep learning model. Additionally, we employ a convolutional neural network to extract spatial trajectory information, which is then integrated with interaction contexts and indirect context information. In the vessel travel time prediction procedure, we utilize a long short-term memory network to capture the temporal dependence within consecutive channel sections' fused multiple context feature sets. Extensive experiments incorporating historical data from the Wuhan section of the Yangtze River in China demonstrate the superiority of our proposed model over classical models in predicting vessel travel time. Importantly, our model accounts for the specific traffic contexts that had previously been overlooked, leading to improved accuracy and applicability in inland vessel travel time prediction. To provide a reference for practical applications of green and intelligent inland vessels, this paper summarizes the development status and five key technologies of green intelligent inland vessels in China. Green and intelligent inland vessels will be used for demonstration and application verification. The application of key technologies in green, intelligent, and formation navigation is expounded. In recent years, the inland river shipping industry in China has been facing the pressure to comply with 'low carbon shipping' policies. Solar energy as one of the most widely used new energy sources has attracted more and more attention in the shipping industry. In 2015, the researchers from Wuhan University of Technology have successfully applied solar energy in an inland river 800PCC (Pure Car Carrier) – 'Anji204'. The present article described the photovoltaic (PV) generation system which was installed on board the ship and reported the results of actual navigation trials on the testing leg, Yangtze River. On the basis of the collected data, the main research purpose is to evaluate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission and fuel consumption after introduced solar energy into ship energy system by using Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) analysis. The results show that the ship EEDI reduced from 55.09 g_CO2/ton·nmile to 52.02 g_CO2/ton·nmile, decreased by about 5.57%. In addition, it can reduce the fuel consumption by an average about 16 tons per year. The Belt and Road (B&R) initiative was introduced by the Chinese government to promote the worldwide economic development and multilateral cooperation between China and the associated countries. As a crucial part of global supply chains, transportation plays a key role to ensure the implementation of the B&R. Safety is one of the issues with great importance in transportation research. However, its foci have been expanded from traditional risk through security to resilience and sustainability. Resilience has attracted considerable interests from both researchers and practitioners across different research domains in recent years. Various studies have been conducted on transportation resilience from different perspectives. Consequently, different definitions have been developed to define and describe resilience. This paper presents a systematic review on transportation resilience with emphasis on its definitions, characteristics, and research methods applied in different transportation systems/contexts. It aims to figure out what transportation resilience is and what kind of essential characters it usually has. More importantly, research challenges are analysed and a future research agenda on the resilience of transportation systems is proposed. This paper will provide comprehensive insights into understanding the transportation resilience, as well as establish new horizons for relevant research topics within the context of the B&R. Groundings are frequently occurring accidents that pose a serious risk in inland waterways. This paper proposes a flexible decision-support solution for grounded ships in the Yangtze River. The basis of the proposed method is to develop an influence diagram based on a three-layer decision-making framework, to consider the effectiveness of the intervention measures by adding two nodes and establishing the associated conditional probability tables, and to merge the influence diagram and the intervention measures as a flexible decision-support solution. The merits of the proposed method include the intuitive representation of how the influencing factors affect the alternatives using a graphical structure, the flexibility to implement and to consider the intervention measures for grounded ships, and the ability to deal with uncertainty in both numerical data and qualitative information. The results of the case study showed that it is unanimous with the real situations and the intervention measures should be considered to make effective and accurate decision-making for grounding ships. Abstract: This research presents a comprehensive analysis of motor vehicle–bicycle crashes using 4 years of reported crash data (2004–2007) in Beijing. The interrelationship of irregular maneuvers, crash patterns and bicyclist injury severity are investigated by controlling for a variety of risk factors related to bicyclist demographics, roadway geometric design, road environment, etc. Results show that different irregular maneuvers are correlated with a number of risk factors at different roadway locations such as the bicyclist age and gender, weather and traffic condition. Furthermore, angle collisions are the leading pattern of motor vehicle–bicycle crashes, and different irregular maneuvers may lead to some specific crash patterns such as head-on or rear-end crashes. Orthokinetic scrape is more likely to result in running over bicyclists, which may lead to more severe injury. Moreover, bicyclist injury severity level could be elevated by specific crash patterns and risk factors including head-on and angle collisions, occurrence of running over bicyclists, night without streetlight, roads without median/division, higher speed limit, heavy vehicle involvement and older bicyclists. This study suggests installation of median, division between roadway and bikeway, and improvement of illumination on road segments. Reduced speed limit is also recommended at roadway locations with high bicycle traffic volume. Furthermore, it may be necessary to develop safety campaigns aimed at male, teenage and older bicyclists. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Environmental problems that seriously affect both natural systems and social development of human beings have drawn extensive attention from governing authorities all around the world, and become an urgent issue to be addressed. Ports play a significant role in the international shipping which inevitably influence the global environment. Thus, the concept of green port is developed to mitigate the negative impacts of inappropriate port operations on environment. This paper analyzes the current status of green port development worldwide. An evaluation model for quantitative measurement of green port development is established based on the Drivers, Pressures, States, Impacts and Responses (DPSIR) framework. The weight of each index composing the evaluation model is calculated through an analytical hierarchy process method, and the evaluation results of the investigated ports with respect to each index are aggregated using an evidential reasoning approach. The evaluation model is further demonstrated through a comparative analysis of five major ports in China. The novel model developed along with the methods applied in this paper can provide significant insights for the comparative evaluation on the development of green ports in other countries and/or regions, as well as a powerful tool to conduct self-assessment of green port development.
