The fundamental way for China to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality is to continuously improve the penetration of renewable energy (RE) in the power system and establish an electricity mix dominated by RE power. According to China's 14th Five-Year Plan, the proportion of non-fossil energy power generation should reach about 39% by 2025. However, the impact of the increase in share of RE power on carbon emissions of the electricity sector remains to be estimated. To this end, the purpose of this paper is to capture the nonlinear characteristics of RE on electricity-related carbon emissions by using panel smooth transition regression (PSTR) model and provincial panel data covering the period 1991–2020 under the background of provincial RE quota system. The estimation results indicate that, (i) in the four transition variables of PSTR model such as the installed capacity of power generation, substation equipment capacity, total electricity consumption and total power generation, the nexus between RE deployment and electricity-related carbon emissions was detected as nonlinear. (ii) The heterogeneous RE carbon abatement effect is reflected in its increasing penetration in provincial power systems. (iii) Carbon abatement performance of RE generation decreases in the negative range with the increase of transition variables. (iv) The estimation coefficient of RE is positive at the higher value of the transition variable in the PSTR model of carbon emissions per capita. As a result, the RE quota with the best emission abatement performance should be designed based on the provincial power resource endowment and the medium and long-term expected electricity consumption. Fangcang hospitals, as tentative hospitals built to treat a huge turnover of patients with mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, have played a pivotal role to slow down the pandemic spread in China in 2020. However, anxiety and sleep disorders remain tough to address during the treatments. In this study, group psychological intervention in combination with pulmonary rehabilitation exercises were conducted in the trial group for the patients with mild COVID-19 infections in a Fangcang Hospital to mitigate the patients' anxiety and sleep disorders, while conventional nursing methods were done in the control group, with 70 randomly picked patients in each group. Effects were assessed through questionnaire method using state anxiety questionnaire (SAI) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale (PQSI) rating investigation. Results showed that both SAI and PSQI scores of the trial group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). The SAI scores of the trial group and the control group were 38.5 ± 13.2 and 45.8 ± 10.4 points (t = 3.600, P < 0.001), respectively, and the PSQI scores were 5.6 ± 3.0 and 7.1 ± 3.0 points (t = 2.982, P < 0.01), respectively. Our methods have significant advantages over conventional nursing methods to mitigate anxiety and sleep disorders for the patients with mild COVID-19 infections in the Fangcang Hospital. Star worship is an ever-growing phenomenon around the globe. Across various social media platforms in China, a new idol–fan relationship model has emerged, such that the fans have stepped up from merely worshipping the idols to being able to co-cultivate their idols, including their public images, the scope of their work, and even their personal lives. Based on a grounded theory approach, this study utilized text analysis and in-depth interviews to explore parakin relationships between fans and idols and proposed a dual motivation model to explain the motivations of fans for forming such a relationship. The findings extend current fandom literature by exploring a new front of fan–idol interactions in the context of social media. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed. Understanding the role of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) during the Last Interglacial (LIG, ∼127 ka) may advance our knowledge on decadal climate variability in a warmer world. In this study, we investigate the PDO–precipitation relationship over eastern China during the LIG based on the NorESM2-LM, which shows the best performance in capturing the observed PDO pattern and the PDO–precipitation relationship among 12 models from the Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project Phase 4. Composite analysis shows that summer precipitation during the LIG is generally increased over eastern China in the positive PDO phases relative to the negative phases, which is different from the "drier-wetter-drier" triple pattern in the present day. The discrepant precipitation patterns between the LIG and preindustrial are caused by different responses of composite atmospheric circulations. Moreover, moisture budget analysis indicates that variations of vertical velocity over eastern China largely explain the PDO-linked precipitation patterns during both LIG and preindustrial, although the main causes for vertical motion changes are different across regions and periods based on the quasi-geostrophic ω equation. Additionally, these discrepancies in composite atmospheric circulations are largely linked to differences in PDO patterns and mean climate states between the LIG and preindustrial. Our results suggest a varying relationship between the PDO and precipitation over eastern China in a warmer-than-present world induced by Earth's orbit, which have important implications for PDO reconstructions during the LIG via the PDO-precipitation relationship reported here and shed light on decadal variability of precipitation as well as the associated decadal predictions in a future warmer world. • Divergent response of eastern China precipitation to PDO during the LIG. • Discrepant composite atmospheric circulations cause varied precipitation patterns. • PDO pattern/mean climate state regulate varied precipitation during the LIG jointly. Improving the deployment and penetration of renewable energy is considered to be the fundamental way to solve environmental problems, but whether higher penetration of renewable energy means higher energy efficiency remains to be empirically tested. To reveal the relationship between cleanliness and efficiency in the energy sector, this paper first uses the three-stage data envelopment analysis (DEA)method to measure the total factor energy efficiency (TFEE) of 30 provinces in China, and then applies static and dynamic panel threshold regression (PTR)models to estimate the nonlinear effect of renewable energy share on TFEE. The results show that renewable energy is usually beneficial for improving TFEE, but there are prominent heterogeneity and nonlinear characteristics in net electricity exporting and net electricity importing provinces. Renewable energy in low rather than high regimes can significantly improve energy efficiency, indicating that provinces with lower levels of economic development and energy consumption receive higher marginal energy efficiency and are more likely to achieve sustainable development goals. More renewable energy quotas should be given to economically developed and high energy consuming provinces, and comprehensive energy efficiency guarantees and improvement measures must be provided to achieve optimal emission mitigation. Introduction. To identify and analyze factors that influence administration, recognition, and compliance of medicine among community residents in Jilin Province, China. Methods. A survey was carried out among 2417 community residents in Jilin Province, China, to study their administration (CRA), recognition (CRR), and compliance (CRC) of medicine. Multivariate logistic regression analyses and chi-squared tests were performed to assess factors influencing CRA, CRR, and CRC. Results. Logistic analyses showed that gender, educational level, and occupation were influencing factors on CRA; age, educational level, smoking status, and health condition were influencing factors on CRR; and gender, age, occupation, and health condition were influencing factors on CRC. Conclusions. CRA, CRR, and CRC are associated with specific lifestyles and social economic statuses of community residents. Attention should be paid to influencing factors in order to facilitate community pharmaceutical care, promote the rational use of drugs, and ensure the safe use of medications. This study explores the type and extent of professional services provided through community pharmacies in Jilin Province, China, and provides evidence for optimizing the quality of community pharmacy services. A new species of the genus Megophrys from Zhejiang Province, China is described. Molecular phylogenetic analyses supported the new taxon as an independent clade nested into the Megophrys clade and sister to M. lishuiensis. The new species could be distinguished from its congeners by a combination of the following morphological characteristics: (1) small size (SVL 31.0-36.3 mm in male and 41.6 mm in female); (2) vomerine ridge present and vomerine teeth absent; (3) tongue not notched behind; (4) a small horn-like tubercle at the edge of each upper eyelid; (5) tympanum distinctly visible, rounded; (6) two metacarpal tubercles in hand; (7) relative finger lengths: II < I < IV < III; (8) toes with rudimentary webbing at bases; (9) heels overlapping when thighs are positioned at right angles to the body; (10) tibiotarsal articulation reaching tympanum to eye when leg stretched forward; (11) an internal single subgular vocal sac in male; (12) in breeding male, the nuptial pads with black nuptial spines on the dorsal bases of the first and second fingers. Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the significance of transperineal two-dimensional ultrasound in the diagnosis and classification of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI).Methods: A total of 87 preoperative SUI patients (group A) from the Department of Gynecology of Peking University People's Hospital were included into this study. These patients were further divided into two groups (groups A1 and A2) according to the severity of their disease. In addition, during the same period, 72 age-matched women without SUI were enrolled into this study and assigned as the control group (group B). Through transperineal two-dimensional ultrasound technique, detrusor wall thickness (DWT) was measured in the resting state, the bladder neck descent (BND) was measured under the maximal valsalva maneuver, the proximal urethral rotation angle (α angle) and posterior vesicourethral angle (β angle) were measured, and the formation of the funnel-shaped urethra was observed.Results: Under the resting state, differences in DWT between groups A and B, as well as between groups A1 and A2, were not statistically significant (P> 0.05). The BND, α and β angles were significantly larger in group A than in group B under the maximal Valsalva maneuver; and the differences were statistically significant (P< 0.05). The formation rate of the funnel-shaped urethra was significantly higher in group A (94%) than in group B (3%), and the difference was statistically significant; while the difference between groups A1 and A2 was not statistically significant (P> 0.05).Conclusion: Transperineal two-dimensional ultrasound can play an assistant role in the diagnosis of female SUI. [Display omitted] • The ore-forming fluid is a mixture of magmatic fluid and meteoric water. • The ore-forming fluid was derived mainly from crustal source, with minor proportions of mantle source input (<4.28%). • Fluid boiling and mixing with meteoric water were considered likely to be the possible mechanism for the ore precipitation in Tashan deposit. The Tashan deposit is hosted and genetically associated with the highly fractionated A-type granite porphyry formed at ca. 138 Ma. Its Sn metallogenic processes can be subdivided into three stages: biotite–K-feldspar–cassiterite (stage I, main Sn mineralization), quartz–cassiterite (stage II), and chlorite–sulphides (stage III). Fluid inclusion study indicates that the hydrothermal fluids from stage I (salinity = 5.2–12.8 wt%, and T h = 303–376 °C) through stage II (salinity = 2.7–10.9 wt%, and T h = 236–313 °C) to stage III (salinity = 1.7–8.5 wt%, and T h = 192–262 °C) are of H 2 O–CO 2 –salt composition and its temperature and salinity from early to late stages tend to decrease. The H and O isotopes of quartz from stage II and stage III show δD water values in the range of –66.7 to –60.5‰ and –52.8 to –39.6‰, and δ18O (‰) values in the range of 6.7 to 7.3‰ and 5.8 to 6.9‰, respectively, suggesting contributions of both magmatic fluids and meteoric water. Inclusion-trapped fluids in stage II pyrite show 3He/4He, He mantle (%), and 40Ar/36Ar values of 0.07–0.35 Ra, 0.76%–4.28%, and 302.6–309.0, respectively, indicating that the metallogenic fluids were derived mainly from crustal sources, with minor proportions of mantle source input (<4.28%), consistent with the magma sources of the granite porphyry. Lead isotopes indicate that there is no difference for 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, and 208Pb/204Pb ratios between the sulfide minerals from the orebodies and the fertile granites parental to Sn mineralization in Eastern Guangdong, indicating a magmatic Pb origin. Sulfur isotopic values obtained from sulfides are in the range of –4.5‰ to 0.4‰ (average, –1.7‰), implying an initially of magmatic origin with some contamination of sedimentary sulfur through the interaction with sedimentary rocks of Jinji Formation (–6.67 to –2.41‰). Manufacturing industry is the pillar industry in China, making China become the world's manufacturing center. While, the rapid development of manufacturing industry in China not only promotes the economic growth, but also consumes lots of resources and generates too much carbon dioxide. To make a sustainable development, this paper adopts a non-radial DEA model with natural and managerial disposability to examine the energy-environmental performance of China's manufacturing industry during the 2006–2014 period. The energy-environmental performance is evaluated by the unified efficiency under natural and managerial disposability (UENM). Additionally, the investment strategy is confirmed by industrial types of damages to return (DTR). The empirical results indicate that the unified efficiencies of most manufacturing industries present a rising trend in the sample interval. Moreover, the unified efficiency of most manufacturing industries in light industry have a little higher value than the efficiency of those in heavy industry. Besides, the light industry presents more investment effect than the heavy industry, and many industries in heavy industry have little potential for investment in terms of developing the green growth. According to these results, China should increase investment and enhancing the R&D input to improve the unified efficiency of light industry. Policy support need focus on boosting innovation in strategic emerging industries instead of traditional manufacturing industries. Different from previous studies which mainly focused on conventional estimation techniques, this paper examines the CO 2 EKC hypothesis of China using a spatial panel data model to avoid the coefficient estimation error covering the period of 1997–2012. Furthermore, a comparative analysis of the turning points between the non-spatial panel model and spatial panel model is conducted. The results show that the relationship between economic growth and CO 2 emissions shapes as an inverted-N trajectory. Spatial spillovers effects are confirmed to affect the shape of the CO 2 environmental Kuznets curve. There exists an apparent block distribution in spatial structure of China's provincial CO 2 emissions. Specifically, CO 2 emissions have a relatively sharp increase from the eastern regions to the central and the western regions of China. It has also been found that urbanization and coal combustion are main factors on increasing CO 2 emissions. While the trade openness contributes to slight decrease in CO 2 emissions. [Display omitted] • The mineralization at Tashan is related to the granite porphyry, and both of them formed at ca. 138 Ma. • The granite porphyry is an A-type granite mainly produced from partial melting of crust with minor contribution of mantle materials. • Both the granite porphyry and the mineralization formed in an extensional setting induced by slab roll-back. The medium-sized Tashan Sn deposit, mainly hosted in the Tashan granite porphyry, is located in eastern Guangdong, Southeast China. Zircon U–Pb dating of the granite porphyry yielded a concordant age of 138.0 ± 1.1 Ma, which is consistent with the cassiterite U–Pb age of 138.0 ± 2.3 Ma from the Sn ores, indicating a temporal link between the emplacement of granitic pluton and Sn mineralization. The contents of Fe3+, Fe2+, and Mg2+ in biotite, low calculated zircon Ce4+/Ce3+ of 4.4–71.6, low Eu/Eu* ratios of 0.06–0.35, and low whole-rock Fe 2 O 3 /FeO of 0.04–0.13 of the granite porphyry reveals its low oxygen fugacity, which may have facilitated the Sn enrichment during magma evolution and played a key role in the Sn mineralization. Low K/Rb (150–175, aver. = 160), Nb/Ta (7.3–8.2, aver. = 7.8), and Zr/Hf (23.2–25.1, aver. = 23.9) values were observed for the granite porphyry, indicating its high fractionation and probable interaction with an aqueous fluid phase to some extent. The reduced and highly fractionated features and high F and Sn contents of the granite porphyry thus indicate it is a typical Sn-fertile granite. The granite porphyry is weakly peraluminous and belongs to high-K calc-alkaline type. The rocks are characterized by high SiO 2 , K 2 O + Na 2 O, F, and Zr + Nb + Ce + Y (360–410 ppm) contents; and 10000 Ga/Al (2.31–3.06) ratios and low CaO, MgO, TiO 2 , and P 2 O 5 contents; Rb, Cs, Th, and U enrichment; and Ba, Sr, Zr, Ti, and P depletion, exhibiting an A-type affinity. Moreover, the rocks display whole rock initial 87Sr/86Sr values of 0.70927–0.71218, εNd(t) of − 6.5 to − 6.3, and zircon εHf(t) values from − 5.7 to − 1.5 with Mesoproterozoic T DM2 ages for both Nd and Hf isotopes, indicating their formation by partial melting of a crustal source of Mesoproterozoic overall residence ages with minor input of mantle materials. By integrating new and published data on tectonic evolution, we suggest that the granite porphyry and associated Sn mineralization in the Tashan deposit that was formed in a back-arc extensional environment started before ∼ 141 Ma, related to the rollback of the paleo-Pacific Plate. Investigation of climate change during the Last Interglacial (LIG, ~130–115 ka BP) may deepen our understanding of the response of climate to Earth's orbit. Here we examine climate change over China and associated mechanisms during the LIG using the lig127k experiments from the Paleoclimate Modeling Intercomparison Project Phase 4. We illustrate that annual mean surface air temperature over China decreases by 0.22 °C during the LIG relative to the preindustrial, with a colder climate in winter and spring, whereas a warmer climate in summer and autumn. Annual mean precipitation increases (up to 54%) over northern and southwestern China during the LIG, whereas it decreases (up to 11%) over the other parts. This pattern largely holds for precipitation change in summer during the LIG, but precipitation generally decreases in winter. According to the moisture budget equation, the nonlinear and horizontal dynamic terms contribute largely to the drier (wetter) conditions in summer over the south (north) of eastern China, whereas the horizontal dynamic term and the horizontal thermodynamic term is more important in regulating drier conditions over south and north of eastern China in winter, respectively. Furthermore, East Asian summer monsoon is intensified during the LIG manifested by anomalous southerly at 850 hPa, a westward shift of western North Pacific subtropical high, and poleward migration of East Asian westerly jet. East Asian winter monsoon also gets stronger during the LIG, with anomalous northerly at low-level troposphere, enhanced mid-tropospheric East Asian trough, and an equatorward shift of westerly jet at upper troposphere. Additionally, we note obvious data-model discrepancies in annual temperature change over China during the LIG, with cooling seen in the models but warming suggested by multiproxies. Abstract: An eye-safe micro-pulsed Mie scattering lidar (MPL) system at a wavelength of 532nm was built for routine observations of atmospheric optical properties of the lower troposphere. The lidar is operated in an analog mode with three-dimensional (3D) scanning capability. Observations were carried out for obtaining detailed information of the urban boundary layer (UBL) over Xi''an, China. The parameters that can be measured include aerosol extinction coefficient and optical depth (AOD), structure of the UBL, and the mixed layer depth (MLD). The results indicate that the height of UBL shows both temporal and spatial variations over Xi''an. It is generally lower in the early morning and dusk than during the daytime. MLD is driven by the convective air motions and strongly correlated with the aerosol diurnal changes which tend to fall during night and rise during day. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Background: This study screened children in Beijing, China, in order to establish the validity of a Mandarin Chinese translation of the ASSQ.Methods: We recruited children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), childhood-onset schizophrenia (COS) (DSM-IV diagnoses made independently by two senior psychiatrists) and unaffected children attending a public school in Beijing. Their parents were asked to complete the CH-ASSQ.Results: Data from the parents of 94 children with ASD (mean age: 81 ± 47 months), 45 with ADHD (106 ± 27 months), 26 with COS (166 ± 36 months), and 120 unaffected control (72 ± 16 months) were collected. The total scores of ASSQ in children with ASD, ADHD, COS, and unaffected controls were 25.3 ± 9.2, 10.4 ± 7.1, 12.2 ± 10.6, and 5.2 ± 6.6 respectively. Total ASSQ scores of children with ASD were significantly higher than in any other group (all p < .0001). ROC analysis of ASD versus unaffected control subjects showed the area under curve was 0.957, with a cutoff of 12 having the maximum sensitivity (0.957) and specificity (0.825).Conclusions: Our pilot data suggest that CH-ASSQ successfully differentiates clinically diagnosed ASD patients from unaffected controls, as well as from patients with ADHD and COS. Aim: To investigate and obtain a more comprehensive view of the etiology and clinical features of acute pancreatitis in China. Method: The study comprised 1471 patients in 10 cites of China who were admitted to hospitals for acute pancreatitis from January 1992 to December 2002. Data for each patient were collected on a standardized form. Results: Of the 1471 patients (854 men, 617 women; mean age 43.3 years; range 13–82 years), 1280 had mild pancreatitis and 191 had the severe form. Cholelithiasis (20.2%), alcohol (17.3%) and diet-induced (12.4%) were the most frequent etiological factors, followed by biliary tract infections (5.6%), hyperlipidemia (2.3%) and other factors (5.1%). However, in about 36.1% of cases, the etiology of acute pancreatitis still remained unexplained. In coastal regions, cholelithiasis was the most frequent factor but alcohol ranked first in interior regions. In males, a small predominance of alcohol over cholelithiasis was seen (27.4% vs 14.3%) and there was a clear predominance of cholelithiasis over alcohol (28.4% vs 3.2%) in females. The differences in the frequency of cholelithiasis and alcohol between coastal regions and interior regions and males and females were statistically significant ( P < 0.01). According to their frequency, complications of acute pancreatitis were pancreatic pseudocyst, pancreatic ascities and bacterial peritonitis, pulmonary infections, multiple organ failure, diabetes mellitus type 2 and shock. Conclusion: Cholelithiasis, alcohol and diet-induced factors were the main etiological factors seen in China, whereas cholelithiasis alone predominated in females and alcohol ranked first in males. Since few systematic studies have focused on recurrent acute pancreatitis in China, we sought to investigate its clinical features, including etiological factors and relative frequency. Patients were selected from a total 1471 patients with acute pancreatitis in ten cities of China. All had been admitted to a hospital with an attack of acute pancreatitis between January 1992 and December 2002. Data for each patient was recorded on a standardized form. Of the 1471 patients with acute pancreatitis, 157 (10.7%) had recurrent acute pancreatitis. The majority (63%) were male, with a mean age of 41 years (range, 13–82 years). Regarding the etiology, alcohol (20.4%) and cholelithiasis (20.4%) were the most frequent causes, followed by diet (13.4%), hypertriglyceridemia (8.3%), biliary tract infection (5.7%), other (5.1%), and idiopathic factors (26.8%). Alcohol was most frequent in male patients (30.3%), whereas cholelithiasis was most frequent (34.5%) in female patients. The majority of patients (79.6%) presented with their second attack of pancreatitis. Complications of recurrent acute pancreatitis in order of frequency were pancreatic pseudocyst, multiple organ failure, diabetes mellitus type 2, and shock. Recurrent acute pancreatitis remains a frequent disease, with cholelithiasis and alcohol being the most usual etiological factors. Alcohol is the primary etiological factor in male patients. The Mesozoic South China is characterized by extensive magmatism, transition from Jurassic intraplate magmatism to Cretaceous active continental margin magmatism. However, the time and deep geodynamic processes accounting for the Mesozoic magmatism remains controversial. In this study, we presented new SIMS zircon U Pb ages, in-situ Sr isotope of plagioclase, whole-rock geochemical and Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic data on three suites of mafic dikes in eastern Guangdong, namely Anliu (AL) and Sanjiaowo (SJW) and Jishuimen (JSM) mafic dikes. The AL (154.3 ± 3.4 Ma) and SJW (141.3 ± 4.0 Ma and 143.2 ± 2.3 Ma) dikes show arc-like geochemistry and "crust-like" isotopic signatures, likely derived from partial melting of a subduction metasomatized lithospheric mantle. Meanwhile, the JSM dikes (141.7 ± 3.2 Ma) exhibit OIB-type geochemical and isotopic features, and were likely derived from partial melting of an enriched asthenospheric mantle. The development of late Jurassic AL lamprophyre may represent the oldest Paleo-Pacific subduction-related arc-type mafic rocks so far recorded in South China. Development of dikes (SJW vs JSM) with different geochemical signatures (Arc vs OIB) at the same time within a limited space indicates that asthenosphere-related process overprint and co-operate with subduction-related magmatism and imply the initiation of Paleo-Pacific subduction roll-back was potentially at least ca.141 Ma. • Late Jurassic–early Cretaceous mafic dikes were identified in Eastern Guangdong. • The ~154 Ma AL mafic dikes show typical arc-like features. • It was derived from the lithospheric mantle metasomatized by subducted slab fluids. • The simultaneous (~141) SJW and JSM dikes show arc-like and OIB-like features. • They imply the initiation of Paleo-Pacific subduction roll-back was before 141 Ma. Simple Summary: We measured female reproductive traits of a colubrid snake (Lycodon rufozonatus) from Zhejiang, East China in four years (1999, 2010, 2011, and 2014). After removing the influence of female size, postpartum body mass was greater in 2010 than in 2014, clutch mass was greater in 2010 than in 2011 and 2014, and egg size was greater in 2010 than in the other three years. Egg size was positively related to postpartum body condition in each year. Females laid larger eggs in 2010 than in other three years after removing the influence of maternal size and body condition. Our study does not follow the prediction that reproductive females with different amounts of resources to invest should give priority to adjusting the number rather than size of offspring. Long-term studies are especially suited for disentangling the effects of extrinsic and intrinsic factors on both total reproductive investment and reproductive allocation in offspring number versus offspring size. Female reproductive traits of the red-banded wolf snake (Lycodon rufozonatus) from Zhejiang, East China were studied in four years between 1999 and 2014. Egg-laying dates overall extended from late June to late July, and varied among years. • Two pulses of magmatic-hydrothermal fluid are documented in Taoxihu deposit. • The first pulse of fluid is H 2 O-CO 2 -NaCl system and the second one is H 2 O–NaCl. • Fluid immiscibility is responsible for the precipitation of Sn during the first pulse. • The oxidizing process due to the influx of meteoric water accounts for the precipitation of Sn during the second pulse. The Taoxihu deposit is a newly discovered Sn-polymetallic deposit in eastern Guangdong, SE China. The mineralization is related to an Early Cretaceous, highly fractionated I-type granite porphyry. The ore-forming process is divided into six stages, i.e., garnet (stage I), quartz–fluorite–biotite (stage II), quartz–biotite–cassiterite–sulfides (stage III, main mineralization), quartz vein with minor sulfides and cassiterite (stage IV), quartz–K-feldspar–biotite–cassiterite–sulfides (stage V), and quartz–K-feldspar–chlorite–sulfides (stage VI). Fluid inclusion study shows that the hydrothermal fluids from stage II (salinity = 5.9 to 13.2 wt%, and T h = 302 to 382 °C) to stage IV (salinity = 0.2 to 5.9 wt%, and T h = 275 to 315 °C) are of H 2 O–CO 2 –(CH 4)–salt composition and show a trend of systematically decreasing temperature and salinity from early to late stages. In contrast, the fluids in stage V (salinity = 6.5 to 13.9 wt% and T h = 223 to 343 °C) and stage VI (salinity = 6.0 to 11.8 wt%, and T h = 140 to 300 °C) are of the H 2 O–salt compositional system, and demonstrate also a trend of decreasing temperature and salinity with time, representing a distinct hydrothermal event. H–O isotope data indicate that these two different fluid systems are all initially of magmatic origin. In view of the almost identical cassiterite U–Pb ages of stage III (139.7 ± 1.1 Ma) and stage V (139.8 ± 1.6), the two hydrothermal events are interpreted to represent two pulses of magmatic fluid releasing from the same magma chamber. The first pulse is characterized by an initially single-phase CO 2 -bearing magmatic fluid that was subsequently subject to unmixing or phase separation in relation to hydraulic fracturing and decompression, which lead to the main phase mineralization, whereas the second pulse is the release of residual, CO 2 -free magmatic fluid, which mixed with meteoric water and resulted in the second phase of mineralization. Much has been learned regarding orbital and millennial timescale climate changes after the onset of Northern Hemisphere glaciations (NHG) at ca. 2.7 Ma. By contrast, little is known about these variations before the NHG due to lack of high‐resolution records. Here we report first millennial resolution quantified East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) precipitation record from the north eastern Tibetan Plateau. The record supports astronomical forcing of EASM during the late Miocene, except for the period of 8.13–8.03 Ma when EASM experienced high amplitude variations at the 100‐, 20‐kyr, and suborbital bands, which is in sharp contrast with the damped astronomical forcing. Detection of strong 100‐kyr and millennial cycles during low eccentricity intervals of the warm late Miocene with ephemeral NH ice sheets cast doubt on NH ice sheet size variations as their exclusive forcing in the late Miocene and late Quaternary paleoclimatic records. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a serious, worldwide public health crisis. Surveillance of antimicrobial use forms part of an essential strategy to contain AMR. We aimed to conduct a national point prevalence survey (PPS) on antimicrobial use, and to compare this data with similar international surveillance programs to provide a reference for future AMR strategy development in China. Twenty general hospitals encompassing 10,881 beds and 10,209 inpatients around the country participated the survey using a standardized protocol, at 8am of someday from October 10th to November 31st, 2019. Of the patients, 37.00% (3777/10209) received antimicrobial agents, 31.30% (1630/5208) had surgical operations, and 76.63% (1249/1630) received prophylactic antibiotic. The prevalence of antimicrobial use in medical, surgical, and intensive care units (ICU) patients was 38.84% (1712/4408), 32.07% (1670/5208), and 66.61% (395/593), respectively. Of prescriptions, 5.79% (356/6151) were made in the absence of indication. The intensity of antimicrobial use was 61.25 DDDs/100 patient days, while the intensity of use in internal medicine, surgery, and ICU were 67.79, 45.81, 124.45 DDDs/100 patient days, respectively. Only 11.62% (715/6151) of prescriptions had a reason described in the patient record. Furthermore, 8.44% (210/2487), 14.19% (424/2989), and 12% (81/675) of the prescriptions in internal medicine, surgery, and ICU had a recorded indication, respectively. The review and stop date recorded for antimicrobial therapy was 43.73% (1976/4518). Of the patients, 38.07% (1438/3777) received combination therapy. The classes of antimicrobials prescribed were limited, and the proportion of prescriptions encompassed by the top 20 antimicrobial agents was 75.06% (4617/6151). The prevalence of antimicrobial use in China is close to that of Sweden, the UK, and Canada, but lower than that in India, and higher than that in Switzerland. The data described in this report indicate that the quality of antimicrobial prescriptions requires improvement in China. Background: Mucormycosis is a rare form of invasive, rapidly progressive and lethal opportunistic fungal infection caused by Mucorales. Although Rhizopus arrhizus (R. arrhizus) is the most commonly isolated Mucorales worldwide, infections caused by Apophysomyces variabilis (A. variabilis) are increasing. Objectives and Methods: We present a case of necrotizing fasciitis caused by A. variabilis in an immunocompetent woman. In order to further understand the characteristics of the strain isolated from the patient, we identified the strain through ITS sequencing, assessed the ability to tolerate salt concentrations and temperature conditions, in addition to performing in vitro drug susceptibility testing against common antifungal agents. Results: The strain showed 98.76% identity with A. variabilis in the NCBI database, and it was found to tolerate higher temperatures and salt concentrations than previously reported strains. The strain was sensitive to amphotericin B and posaconazole, but not to voriconazole, itraconazole, 5‐fluorocytosine and echinocandins. Conclusions: This case indicates that Mucorales caused by A. variabilis should be recognised as an emerging pathogen that can cause a high mortality rate in the absence of prompt diagnosis and proper treatment in China, aggressive surgical debridement combined with prompt and appropriate antifungal treatment may improve outcomes. Previous geological studies have revealed that a zonal climate pattern with an arid zonal band prevailed in the mid-latitude of East Asia in the Paleogene. On the south of the arid band, a tropical monsoon climate controlled South China, Indochina, and India. In the Eocene, the boundary between the arid and the tropical monsoon climate largely moved northward. However, the reason behind this change remains unclear. Here, with the fast version of the Norwegian Earth System Model (NorESM1-F), we conduct experiments under different Eocene paleogeography conditions to analyze the evolution of the tropical Asian monsoon from the early Eocene to the late Eocene. Our results demonstrate that the northward movement of Indian plate causes a reorganization in low-level westerlies in summer. The purpose of this study is to implement point prevalence survey (PPS), assess antimicrobial prescribing and resistance in general hospitals and clinical specialties in China, and compare them with similar data from other parts of the world. Twenty general hospitals in China were surveyed in October or November, 2019. A standardized surveillance protocol was used to collect data on patient demographics, diagnosis of infection, the prevalence and intensity of antimicrobial use, prescribing quality, bacterium type and resistance spectrum, and the prevalence and type of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Overall, 10,881 beds and 10,209 inpatients were investigated. The overall prevalence of antibiotic use was 37.00%, the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in surgical patients was high (74.97%). The intensity of antimicrobial use was 61.25 DDDs/100 patient days. Only 11.62% of antimicrobial prescriptions recorded the reason for prescribing. Intravenous or combination treatments comprised 92.02% and 38.07%, respectively, and only 30.65% of prescriptions referred to a microbiological or biomarker tests. The incidence of HAIs in all patients was 3.79%. The main associated factors for HAIs included more frequent invasive procedures (27.34%), longer hospital stay (> 1-week stay accounting for 51.47%), and low use of alcohol hand rubs (only 29.79% placed it bedside). Most of the resistant bacteria declined; only carbapenem-resistant Enterobacter is higher than previously reported. The prevalence of antibiotic use in general hospitals fell significantly, the overall bacterial resistance declined, and the incidence of HAI was low. Background: Bismuth‐containing quadruple therapy is an effective regimen for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) treatment. No head‐to‐head comparison trials have been conducted to evaluate the efficacy of colloidal bismuth pectin (CBP) in quadruple therapy for eradicating H. pylori. We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of CBP quadruple therapy and bismuth potassium citrate (BPC) quadruple therapy for 14 days in the first‐line treatment of H. pylori. Methods: In this multicenter, randomized, double‐blind, non‐inferiority clinical trial, H. pylori‐infected subjects without eradication history were randomized to receive amoxicillin 1 g twice daily, tetracycline 500 mg three time daily, esomeprazole 20 mg twice daily in combination with CBP 200 mg three time daily or BPC 240 mg twice daily for 14 days. 13C‐urea breath tests were used to access the eradication rate at least 4 weeks after treatment. Results: Between April 2021 and July 2022, 406 patients were assessed for eligibility and 339 subjects were randomized. The cure rates (primary outcome) of CBP and BPC quadruple therapy were 90.5% and 92.3% (p = 0.56) by intention‐to‐treat analysis, respectively, and 96.1% and 96.2% (p = 1.00) by per‐protocol analysis, respectively. CBP quadruple therapy was non‐inferior to BPC quadruple therapy in the intention‐to‐treat and per‐protocol analysis (p < 0.025). The frequency of adverse events and compliance were not different among the two groups (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Both CBP and BPC quadruple therapy for 14 days provide high efficacy, good compliance, and safety in the first‐line treatment of H. pylori in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Metro-led underground space (MUS) plays a crucial role in modern underground space utilisation. Recent studies have shown its great potential for high-quality urban development. However, limited evidence about MUS was available on a national scale, resulting in incomplete and unsystematic knowledge of MUS utilisation. The interaction relationship between MUS and the surrounding built environment also remains unclear. To fill the research gap, an automatic method for MUS identification and development features extraction was proposed based on point of interest data. We applied the method to identify the MUS in 28 Chinese cities and estimated the development status of MUS in China for the first time. The nationwide statistics of MUS and correlation analysis of development features were conducted. Results show that complex MUS (CMUS) share is significantly lower than that of simple MUS. Besides, CMUS development in China is primarily dominated by public transport and does not have a solid functional link to its surroundings. The comparative analysis of MUS development in four primary urban agglomerations was also conducted, and their development characteristics were discussed. In south China, warm-sector rainstorms are significantly different from the traditional frontal rainstorms due to complex mechanism, which brings great challenges to their forecast. In this study, based on ensemble forecasting, the high-resolution mesoscale numerical forecast model WRF was used to investigate the effect of initial errors on a warmsector rainstorm and a frontal rainstorm under the same circulation in south China, respectively. We analyzed the sensitivity of forecast errors to the initial errors and their evolution characteristics for the warm-sector and the frontal rainstorm. Additionally, the difference of the predictability was compared via adjusting the initial values of the GOOD member and the BAD member. Compared with the frontal rainstorm, the warm-sector rainstorm was more sensitive to initial error, which increased faster in the warm-sector. Furthermore, the magnitude of error in the warm-sector rainstorm was obviously larger than that of the frontal rainstorm, while the spatial scale of the error was smaller. Similarly, both types of the rainstorm were limited by practical predictability and inherent predictability, while the nonlinear increase characteristics occurred to be more distinct in the warm-sector rainstorm, resulting in the lower inherent predictability. The comparison between the warm-sector rainstorm and the frontal rainstorm revealed that the forecast field was closer to the real situation derived from more accurate initial errors, but only the increase rate in the frontal rainstorm was restrained evidently. Key message: Analysis of 387 sugarcane clones using Bru 1 diagnostic markers revealed two possible sources of Bru 1 in Chinese cultivars: one from Saccharum spontaneum and another from Saccharum robustum of New Guinea. Abstract: Sugarcane brown rust (SBR) is an important fungal disease in many sugarcane production areas around the world, and can cause considerable yield losses in susceptible sugarcane cultivars. One major SBR resistance gene, named Bru1, initially identified from cultivar R570, was shown to be a major SBR resistance source in most of the sugarcane producing areas of the world. In this study, by using the two Bru1-associated markers, R12H16 and 9O20-F4, we surveyed the presence of Bru1 in a Chinese sugarcane germplasm collection of 387 clones, consisting of 228 hybrid cultivars bred by different Chinese sugarcane breeding establishments, 54 exotic hybrid cultivars introduced from other countries and 105 clones of sugarcane ancestral species. The Bru1-bearing haplotype was detected in 43.4% of Chinese sugarcane cultivars, 20.4% of exotic hybrid cultivars, and only 3.8% of ancestral species. Among the 33 Chinese cultivars for which phenotypes of resistance to SBR were available, Bru1 was present in 69.2% (18/26) of the resistant clones. Analyses of the allelic sequence variations of R12H16 and 9O20-F4 suggested two possible sources of Bru1 in Chinese cultivars: one from S. spontaneum and another from S. robustum of New Guinea. In addition, we developed an improved Bru1 diagnostic marker, 9O20-F4- HaeIII, which can eliminate all the false results of 9O20-F4- RsaI observed among S. spontaneum, as well as a new dominant Bru1 diagnostic marker, R12E03-2, from the BAC ShCIR12E03. Abstract: Research and development (R&D) on fusion nuclear technologies in China are reviewed in this paper. Our objective is to present the main achievements and key issues regarding plasma facing materials (PFMs) and plasma facing components (PFCs) in China in the past 2years, which include the properties of doped-tungsten powders obtained via wet chemical method, mechanical alloying (MA), and sintered pure and doped-tungsten by spark plasma sintering (SPS), resistance sintering under ultra high pressure (RSUHP). Results show that the superfine powders of W-La2O3 and W-TiC prepared by wet chemical method have more uniform size and good dispersion than MA. And the fabricated W-TiC powders had particle sizes ranging from 50 to 1000nm. In addition, two sintering methods of SPS and RSUHP are investigated to fabricate tungsten blocks with high densities. We also discuss the effect of rolling and swaging on the crystal size and mechanical properties of tungsten. For PFCs, joining of tungsten to copper was conducted by low pressure plasma spray (LPPS), air plasma spray (APS), cold spray, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and electro-deposition from molten salt, in which the maximum thickness of tungsten coatings by electro-deposition was 1255μm with no voids and cracks. Objective The aim of this study was to examine serum leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin 2 (LECT2) levels in osteoporosis subjects to confirm its association with osteoporosis. Methods A total of 204 adult subjects were recruited. Bone mineral densities (BMD) were assessed and blood samples were collected for measurements of biomedical parameters and the bone turnover markers. Serum LECT2 levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The relationships between serum LECT2 levels and other parameters were analyzed using the Spearman correlation coefficient. Results Serum LECT2 levels were significantly increased in osteoporosis subjects over controls. We found a significantly negative correlation of serum LECT2 with BMD, 25-hydroxy-vitamin D, and creatinine and a significantly positive correlation with C-terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen and total cholesterol. Conclusion Serum LECT2 levels were significantly upregulated in osteoporosis subjects and correlated with the severity of bone loss. Lidar at 1064 nm and Ka-band millimetre-wave cloud radar (MMCR) are powerful tools for detecting the height distribution of cloud boundaries and can monitor the entire life cycle of cloud layers. In this study, lidar and MMCR are employed to jointly detect cloud boundaries under different conditions. By enhancing the echo signal of lidar at 1064 nm and combining its signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the cloud signal can be accurately extracted from the aerosol signals and background noise. The interference signal is eliminated from Doppler spectra of the MMCR by using the noise ratio of the smallest measurable cloud signal (SNR min⁡) and the spectral point continuous threshold (Nts). Moreover, the quality control of the reflectivity factor of MMCR obtained by the inversion is conducted, which improves the detection accuracy of the cloud signal. We analysed three typical cases studies; case one presents two interesting phenomena: (a) at 19:00–20:00 CST (China standard time), the ice crystal particles at the cloud top boundary are too small to be detected by MMCR, but they are well detected by lidar. (b) At 19:00–00:00 CST, the cirrus cloud changes to altostratus where the cloud particles eventually grow into large sizes, producing precipitation. Further, MMCR has more advantages than lidar in detection of the cloud top boundary within this period. Considering the advantages of the two devices, the change characteristics of the cloud boundary in Xi'an from December 2020 to November 2021 were analysed, with MMCR detection data as the main data and lidar data as the assistant data. The seasonal variation characteristics of clouds show that, in most cases, high clouds often occur in summer and autumn, and the low clouds are usually in winter. The normalized cloud cover shows that the maximum and minimum cloud cover occur in summer and winter, respectively. Furthermore, the cloud boundary frequency distribution results for the whole of the observation period show that the cloud bottom boundary below 1.5 km is more than 1 %, the frequency within the height range of 3.06–3.6 km is approximately 0.38 %, and the frequency above 8 km is less than 0.2 %. The cloud top boundary frequency distribution exhibits the characteristics of a bimodal distribution. The first narrow peak lies at approximately 1.0–3.1 km, and the second peak appears at 6.4–9.8 km. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The last decades of neuroimaging research has revealed atypical development of intrinsic functional connectivity within and between large-scale cortical networks in autism spectrum disorder, but much remains unknown about cortico-subcortical developmental connectivity atypicalities. This study examined cortico-striatal developmental intrinsic functional connectivity changes in autism spectrum disorder and explored how those changes may be correlated with autistic traits. We studied 49 individuals with autism spectrum disorder and 52 age-, sex-, and head motion–matched typically developing individuals (5–30 years old (14.0 ± 5.6)) using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. Age-related differences in striatal intrinsic functional connectivity were compared between the two groups by adopting functional network–based parcellations of the striatum as seeds. Relative to typically developing individuals, autism spectrum disorder individuals showed atypical developmental changes in intrinsic functional connectivities between almost all striatal networks and sensorimotor network/ default network, with connectivity increasing with age in the autism spectrum disorder group and decreasing or constant in typically developing individuals. Age-related degree centrality and voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity atypicalities in sensorimotor network/default network and voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity disruptions in striatal regions were also observed in autism spectrum disorder. Significant correlations were found between cortico-striatal intrinsic functional connectivities and Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule communication/repetitive and restricted-behavior subscores in autism spectrum disorder. Our results indicated that developmental atypicalities of cortico-striatal intrinsic functional connectivities might contribute to the neuropathology of autism spectrum disorder. Objective: To investigate the management of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection by gastroenterologists from secondary and tertiary hospitals in Shandong Province, China, where there is a high prevalence of H. pylori infection. Methods: A questionnaire‐based, stratified sampling survey was conducted from June 1 to August 30, 2021. The ratio of secondary to tertiary hospitals was set at 2:1. An electronic questionnaire was sent to the gastroenterologists via the WeChat platform. Results: A total of 89.09% (1053/1182) gastroenterologists were included. Overall, 34.19% and 60.59% of gastroenterologists recommended screening for and treating H. pylori infection in patients without any competing factors. The most preferred testing method in secondary and tertiary hospitals was the 13C‐urea breath test (53.92% and 80.48%), but the reexamination rate of results close to the cut‐off value was low (55.10% and 59.48%). Gastroenterologists preferred bismuth‐containing quadruple therapy (secondary and tertiary hospitals: 96.67% and 98.53%), but the antibiotic combination prescribed for patients with penicillin allergy was suboptimal in secondary hospitals. The overall post‐treatment follow‐up rate was 64.58%, and gastroenterologists in secondary hospitals were more proactive than those in tertiary hospitals (69.41% vs 60.04%, P = 0.001). Less than 80% of gastroenterologists emphasized the importance of post‐treatment reexamination to their patients. Only a minority of gastroenterologists in secondary and tertiary hospitals (30.79% and 34.36%) achieved acceptable eradication rates (exceeding 80%). Conclusions: Deficiencies exist in gastroenterologists from secondary and tertiary hospitals, and the H. pylori eradication rate is relatively low. Geological maps have wide coverage with low acquisition difficulty. When other geological survey data are scarce, they are a valuable source of geological structure information for geological modeling. However, for structures with large deformation, geological map information has difficulty meeting the requirement of its 3D geological modeling. Therefore, this paper takes the dome structure as an example to explore a 3D modeling method based on geological maps, DEM and related geological knowledge. The method includes: (1) adaptively calculating the attitude of points on the stratigraphic boundaries; (2) inferring and generating the bottom boundary of the model from the attitude data of the boundary points; (3) generating the model interface constrained by Bézier curves based on the bottom boundary; (4) generating the top and bottom surfaces of the stratum; and (5) stitching each surface of the geological body to generate the final dome model. Case studies of the dome in Wulongshan in China and the Richat structure in Mauritania show that this method can build a solid model of the dome based only on geological maps and DEM data, whose morphological features are basically consistent with those embodied in the section view or the model generated by traditional methods. Abstract: Organic fertilizer or manure containing antibiotics has been widely used in organic farms, but the distribution and potential impacts of antibiotics to the local environment are not well understood. In this study, four quinolone antibiotics in soil samples (n =69) from five organic vegetable farms in a subtropical city, Southern China, were analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry. Our results indicated that quinolone compounds were ubiquitous in soil samples (detection frequency>97% for all compounds), and their concentrations ranged from not detectable to 42.0μg/kg. Among the targets, enrofloxacin (ENR) was the dominant compound, followed by ciprofloxacin (CIP) and norfloxacin (NOR). The average total concentrations of four compounds in the soils were affected by vegetable types and species cultivated, decreasing in the order of fruit>rhizome>leaf vegetables. Moreover, the average concentrations of quinolone compounds (except ENR) in open-field soils were higher than those in greenhouse soils. The concentrations of quinolone antibiotics in this study were lower than the ecotoxic effect trigger value (100μg/kg) proposed by the Veterinary Medicine International Coordination commission. Risk assessment based on the calculated risk quotients indicated that NOR, CIP, and ENR posed mainly medium to low risks to bacteria. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

We investigated a case of cutaneous infection in an immunocompromised patient in China that was caused by a novel species within the Mycobacterium gordonae complex. Results of whole-genome sequencing indicated that some strains considered to be M. gordonae complex are actually polyphyletic and should be designated as closely related species. Abstract: Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the commonest sexually transmitted infection, which is associated with various clinical conditions. This study aimed to determine the distribution of HPV genotypes in the women of Henan Province, China. Methods: Cervical samples were collected by liquid-based method and consecutively evaluated cervical cytology and the presence of HPV DNA. Cytological classification was made according to the Bethesda 2001 criteria. HPV DNA was tested with xMAP technology by Luminex200™. Results: In cervical abnormalities, the infection rate of HPV was 84.0%, single type was 71.0%, multiple type was 13.0%, high risk HPV was 78.0% and low risk HPV was 8.0%. The most common genotypes found were HPV16, 52, 58, 33, 18, 6 and 39. The most common HPV genotypes were HPV16, 52, 6, 58 and 33 in NILM, HPV16, 52, 18, 58 and 6 in ASCUS, HPV52, 16, 58, 6 and 39 in LSIL, HPV16, 33, 58, 18 and 51 in HSIL, and HPV16, 18, 33, 58 and 52 in ICC, respectively. The prevalence of single HPV and multiple HPV was 64.8% and 13.3%, respectively. Age-specific prevalence of multiple HPV exhibited a “U” shaped curve. Conclusions: Single HPV genotype infection was predominantly detected in different groups of cervical lesions in Henan Province, and HPV16, 52, 58, 33, 18 and 6 were the priority HPV types. Two new isobenzofuranone derivatives (1 and 2) together with six known compounds (3–8) were isolated from the roots of Phlomis betonicoides, a highly sweet plant in China. Their structures were determined by means of HR-ESI-MS and extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic studies. Compounds 1–8 were tested for their anti-rotavirus activity. Background:  The medical consortium is an intensive and disease-specific association that integrates tertiary public hospitals and medical examination centers in China. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility of the medical consortium for screening upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancers (MCSC) by magnetically controlled capsule gastroscopy (MCCG).Methods:  6627 asymptomatic subjects underwent MCCG as part of health check-ups in the MCSC between March and November 2018. Relevant clinical data were collected and analyzed.Results:  The MCSC detected 32 patients with upper GI cancer (0.48 %) confirmed by pathology. The detection rate of early gastric cancer was 16.67 % (4 /24). Gastric polyps, ulcers, and submucosal tumors were found in 15.54 %, 3.76 %, and 3.17 % of subjects, respectively. The whole GI preparation and operation process were well tolerated.Conclusions:  The MCSC was a feasible model for upper GI cancer screening, especially for asymptomatic subjects. A Gram-staining negative, facultative anaerobic, motile and short rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain yh7-1T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of Citrus sinenesis collected from the garden of Citrus sinenesis in Ailao Mountain, south-west China. Cells grew at 15–45 °C, pH 5.0–9.0 and were able to tolerate up to 1% (w/v) NaCl on R2A medium. The respiratory lipoquinone was Q-10 and the major cellular fatty acids contained summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω7c or C18:1 ω6c) and C18:0. Polar lipids in the cellular membrane were phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, two unidentified phospholipids and one unidentified aminophospholipid. The genomic DNA G+C content was 69.9 mol%. On basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain yh7-1T showed the highest similarities with Chthonobacter albigriseus KCTC 42450T (97.6%), Mongoliimonas terrestris KCTC 42635T (97.0%) and lower than 97.0% to other species. Phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain yh7-1T clustered with C. albigriseus KCTC 42450T. The ANI values ranged between 78.1 and 82.7% for C. albigriseus KCTC 42450T, M. terrestris KCTC 42635T and strain yh7-1T, which were lower than the prokaryotic species delineation threshold of 95.0–96.0%. The digital DNA–DNA hybridization values between C. albigriseus KCTC 42450T, M. terrestris KCTC 42635T and strain yh7-1T indicated that the new isolate represents a novel genomic species. According to the phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, strain yh7-1T should belong to the genus Chthonobacter, for which the name Chthonobacter rhizosphaerae sp. nov. Technological advances have the potential to balance climate change mitigation and economic development. However, it remains unclear how much technological advances alone can mitigate climate change and the associated economic losses in the future. Through designing a suite of technological advances scenarios and using an earth system model with an integrated assessment model, we illustrate that rapid technological progress without production control might achieve the 2°C global warming target in the 2100s. Relative to a world of stagnant technology, the frequency (intensity) of extreme warm events at the end of the 21st century (2081–2100) would be reduced by ∼21% (5.5°C) via rapid technological advances, with a reduction in extreme precipitation (droughts) by ∼41% (10 times). Furthermore, fast technological advances may reduce the global economic losses linked with climate change at 2081–2100 by ∼21% and those in China related to floods (droughts) by 86% (67%). Our results highlight the potential of technological advances to fill the emission gap between the Paris Agreement and unconditional Nationally Determined Contributions and hence to efficiently mitigate global warming. Hydromorphone is an alternative to morphine for intrathecal drug delivery system to treat refractory cancer pain; however, there is not enough clinical evidence to prove it. In our study, 233 patients from 12 different pain management centers across China were enrolled, 121 and 112 in the intrathecal hydromorphone (ITHM) and intrathecal morphine (ITMO) groups, respectively. The primary outcome was the clinical success rate, which was defined as ratio of patients achieving ≥50% pain relief. The noninferiority margin was defined as -0.15. Other outcomes included daily visual analogue scale score, breakthrough pain (BTP) incidence, intrathecal dose change, and patient-controlled analgesia bolus count change, GAD-7/PHQ-9. Clinical success was achieved in 85 and 79 of the 121 ITHM patients (70.2%) and 112 ITMO patients (70.5%), respectively. Compared to the corresponding baseline findings, significantly decreased visual analogue scale scores and BTP incidence were noted in both groups. The dose change rate decreased and increased with time in the ITHM and ITMO groups, respectively (ITHM -3.33% vs ITMO 35.4%, P < 0.01, t test) from the third week. The patient-controlled analgesia bolus change rate was lower in the ITHM group than in the ITMO group (ITHM -19.88% vs ITMO 7.79%, P < 0.01, t test) from first week. Our result shows that ITHM is noninferior to ITMO on pain relief to treat refractory cancer pain, however, at different doses and that the doses of morphine tended to increase, whereas those of hydromorphone decreased over time. Castanopsis lamontii is used as functional herbal tea in southwest China. Usually, only buds rather than mature leaves are applied. To figure out whether mature leaves were suitable for producing herbal tea, chemical composition, sensory properties and bioactivities of Castanopsis lamontii bud infusion (CLB) and mature leaf infusion (CLM) were investigated. According to the results, CLB and CLM had similar non-volatile composition, but in different proportion. Meanwhile, CLB contained more types of volatiles than CLM, leading to distinguishable volatile profiles between them. Sensory assessment showed that CLB had sweet aftertaste and floral aroma. CLM tasted astringent and smelled grassy. Bioactivity evaluation indicated that CLB exhibited higher activities in scavenging free radicals and suppressing lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation. Taken together, CLB had better overall acceptability in sensory quality and higher bioactivity, implying that Castanopsis lamontii buds were more suitable for producing herbal tea. Nowadays, the use of metro-led underground spaces (MUS) has become imperative in high-density urban environments. However, a comprehensive and systematic understanding of MUS development patterns in densely-populated countries like China is still lacking. Therefore, this study employed a data-driven spatiotemporal analytical framework based on multisource big data to investigate the development mechanism of Chinese MUSs using a full sample. The multiscale analysis, covering MUS, urban, and regional scales, was conducted to identify the driving forces of MUS development over five temporal stages. The results revealed that the development characteristics of Chinese MUSs varied across different spatiotemporal contexts. At the micro level, the primary driving factors, including density, diversity, distance to transit, and destination accessibility, had a strong explanatory power, which is consistent with the mainstream transit-oriented development (TOD) theory. At the macro level, the main drivers included economic factors, environmental factors, and development scale factors. This study provides new insights for MUS development in high-density regions worldwide, and the obtained regularities could be effectively adopted in the planning and design for MUS. The extract of Celastrus orbiculatus (COE) has been shown to possess anti-Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) activity and anticancer effects in vitro and in vivo. However, the molecular mechanism by which COE on precancerous lesions of gastric cancer (PLGC) has not been fully elucidated so far. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect and mechanism of COE in the rat model of PLGC, after the rat model of PLGC was successfully constructed. The effects of COE in gastric mucosa of rats with PLGC were tested using routine pathology and a transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis. The protein and mRNA expression levels of epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) markers (E-cadherin, N-cadherin and Vimentin) and leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor 5 (Lgr5) were detected adopting techniques of immunohistochemistry (IHC), real-time PCR (RT-PCR) and western blot assays. The body weight of PLGC rats was significantly higher in the COE group than that in the untreated group. The process of PLGC was significantly reversed after COE treatment, shown by observing the changes of histopathological morphology and ultrastructure. Gastric mucosal epithelial cells in COE high dose (COE-H) group showed significantly higher expression levels of E-cadherin, and lower expression levels of N-cadherin, Vimentin and Lgr5 than those of the untreated group. COE could suppress the spatial distribution of Lgr5 + cell changes in PLGC rats. These findings suggested that the therapeutic mechanisms of COE in treating PLGC might be related with its effects on reversing the EMT process and inhibiting Lgr5 expression. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, a multi-wavelength polarization lidar was developed at the Lidar Center for Atmosphere Remote Sensing, in Xi’an, China to study the vertical distribution of the optical and microphysical properties of smog aerosols. To better understand smog, two events with different haze conditions observed in January 2015 were analyzed in detail. Using these data, we performed a vertical characterization of smog evolution using the lidar range-squared-corrected signal and the aerosol depolarization ratio. Using inversion with regularization, we retrieved the vertical distribution of aerosol microphysical properties, including volume size distribution, volume concentration, number concentration and effective radius. We also used the Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model to analyze aerosol sources during the two episodes. Our results show that the most polluted area in the lower troposphere during smog episodes is located below a height of 1 km above the ground level; under more severe smog conditions, it can be below 0.5 km. In the case of severe smog, we found a large number of spherical and fine particles concentrated in the very low troposphere, even below 0.5 km. Surprisingly, a dust layer with a slight depolarization ratio was observed above the smog layer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
