The coupling effects created by transboundary and local factors on ecosystem services are often difficult to determine. This poses great challenges for ecosystem protection and management in border areas. To decrease uncertainty, it is crucial to quantify and spatialize the impact multiple factors have on ecosystem services within different scenarios. In this study, we identified key transboundary and local factors from a set of 15 sorted factors related to four main ecosystem services. We employed a Bayesian Network--Geographic Information System (BN-GIS) model to simulate 90 scenarios with multiple factors combinations, quantifying and spatializing the coupling effects on the main ecosystem services. These simulations were conducted in the Pu'er region, which is situated alongside three countries, and serves as a representative border area in southwest China. The results showed that: (1) The coupling effects of multiple factors yield significant variations when combined in different scenarios. Managers can optimize ecosystem services by strategically regulating factors within specific areas through the acquisition of various probabilistic distributions and combinations of key factors in positive coupling effect scenarios. The outcome is a positive coupling effect. (2) Among the four main ecosystem services in the Pu'er region, food availability and biodiversity were affected by key transboundary and local factors. This suggests that the coupling of transboundary and local factors is more likely to have a significant impact on these two ecosystem services. Of the 45 combination scenarios on food availability, the majority exhibit a negative coupling effect. In contrast, among the 45 combination scenarios on biodiversity, most scenarios have a positive coupling effect. This indicates that food availability is at a higher risk of being influenced by the coupling effects of multiple factors, while biodiversity faces a lower risk. (3) Transboundary pests & diseases, application of pesticides, fertilizer & filming, population density, and land use were the key factors affecting food availability. Bio-invasion, the normalized differential vegetation index, precipitation, and the landscape contagion index were the key factors affecting biodiversity. In this case, focusing on preventing transboundary factors such as transboundary pests & disease and bio-invasion should be the goal. (4) Attention should also be paid to the conditions under which these transboundary factors combine with local factors. • PCV13 vaccination is effective in preventing vaccine-serotype community acquired pneumococcal diseases. • VE of PCV13 against specific PCV13 serotypes (6B, 6A and 19F) was higher than for other serotypes. • VEs in the matched PCV13/ S. pneumoniae -negative case-control study was higher than unmatched PCV13/non-PCV13 serotypes case-control study. • VE was higher for ≥ 2 or ≥ 3 doses of PCV13 vaccination compared to ≥ 1 dose. In 2016, China licensed 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) based on a study that demonstrated its immunogenicity is non-inferior to PCV7. However, the real-world effectiveness of PCV13 against vaccine-serotype pneumococcal diseases in China has limited evidence. A test-negative case-control study was conducted among children under 5 years old admitted to the Children's Hospital of Soochow University (SCH) with respiratory tract infections from January 2018 to December 2020. Cases were defined as children from whom the isolates were tested positive for Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) with serotypes included in PCV13. Two control groups were included, one represented children with isolates positive for S. pneumoniae of non-PCV13 serotypes and the other comprised children who tested negative for S. pneumoniae. The S. pneumoniae -negative controls were selected by matching them to the cases based on gender, age and admission date in a 1:1 ratio. Vaccine effectiveness (VE) was calculated using a logistic regression model as (1- adjusted odds ratio) * 100 %. A total of 2371 pneumococcal isolates were included in the analysis, of which 75.0 % (1779/2371) were covered by PCV13 serotypes. Consequently, these 1779 children were classified as cases, and 592 children were designated as non-PCV13 serotype controls. Another 1779 children were correspondingly recruited as S. pneumoniae -negative controls. Overall, 40 cases (2.3 %) and 148 controls (6.2 %) had received vaccination. The overall VE in the PCV13/non-PCV13 serotypes case-control study was 50.0 % (95 % CI: 15.0, 70.7), which was lower than the VE of 74.4 % (95 % CI: 60.7, 83.3) in the matched PCV13/ S. pneumoniae -negative case-control study. VE was higher for ≥ 2 or ≥ 3 doses of vaccination compared to ≥ 1 dose. VE against specific PCV13 serotypes (6B, 6A and 19F) was higher than for other serotypes. Economic uncertainty will result in consumers' unstable environment expectations, thus affecting household consumption decisions. The paper established a consumption model though using the cointegration theory and ECM model, and used the annual data from 2002 to 2021 to examine the influence of uncertain expectations on the consumption behavior of rural residents in China. The research results show that consumers' income, consumption, consumption habits liquidity constraints and precautionary savings jointly produce the feelings of uncertainty, which will lead to rural consumers' uncertain expectations. Uncertain expectations will not only lead to rural residents the prudent consumption behavior of residents, but also lead to the lack of confidence of residents, forming phased consumption characteristics. Combining the results of the empirical analysis, this paper gives suggestions to promote rural consumption from the perspective of increasing rural residents' income, reforming the income distribution system, improving the rural financial system, and reinforcing the construction of rural consumption infrastructure. Bactrocera correcta (Bezzi, 1916), commonly known as the guava fruit fly, is of concern as an invasive pest in tropical and subtropical countries. It was first recorded in China in 1982 in Yuanjiang, in southern Yunnan Province. We monitored the spread of B. correcta in the field during 2017 and 2018, and found that it had moved about 300 kilometers eastward from its known range in 2011 in Yunnan and has now entered the neighboring Guangxi Province. A species distribution model used to predict the potential distribution of B. correcta in China revealed that southern China provides the most suitable habitat for B. correcta, and that further eastward expansion threatens large areas of southeastern China. Results from this study suggest that the rapid eastward migration of B. correcta is related to improved highway and high-speed railway systems in China that transport fruits and vegetables to eastern markets. Coal seam water injection is widely used to prevent rockbursts in coal mines, and the duration of water injection is an important parameter related to the effectiveness of rockburst prevention, making it of practical importance to optimize the effective water injection duration. This paper presents the test results of the mechanical properties and pore structure of samples with different soaking time, obtained from a working face where rockburst occurred. Soaking time changes the mechanical properties of samples, and this time effect differs with the coal size (from centimeter to nanometer size). Results of numerical simulation and on-site tests in the Changgouyu coal mine demonstrated that water injection can effectively soften coal bodies and release or transfer stresses, and the time effect of water injection on rock prevention and control is apparent. Background: Aristolochiae Fructus (AF) and honey-fried Aristolochiae Fructus (HAF) have been used in China for a long time as anti-tussive and expectorant drugs. Few clinical cases have been reported to be associated with the toxicity of AF and HAF, although relatively high amounts of aristolochic acids (AAs) have been found in them. Our previous experiments have verified from the chemical changes and from traditional toxicology that honey-processing can significantly reduce the toxicity of AF. To further elucidate the detoxification mechanism of honey-processing, comparative pharmacokinetics of AAs in AF and HAF are performed in this study. Methods: An HPLC-MS/MS (high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry) method was developed and validated for the determination of AA I, AA II, AA C, AA D and 7-OH AA I in rat plasma. The multi-component pharmacokinetics of AAs in AF and HAF extracts were investigated after the oral administration of three doses to rats. The relative pharmacokinetic parameters were compared systematically. Results: The five AAs shared a similar nonlinear PK (pharmacokinetic) process. They involve rapid absorption and elimination, and they were fit into a two-compartmental open model. Some significant pharmacokinetic differences were observed between the AF and HAF groups: the Cmax and AUC values of AA I and AA II in the AF groups were much higher than those of the HAF groups. Conclusions: Honey-frying technology can reduce the toxicity of AF by significantly decreasing the absorption of AA I and AA II. The PK parameters obtained in this work could provide valuable references for the toxicity research and clinical use of Aristolochiaceae herbs, including AF and HAF. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article reports on a study that was conducted to assess the relationship between the socioeconomic status (SES) of Chinese families and student academic performance. Based on parents' educational background, occupation, family economic conditions, and other factors, the family socioeconomic status index was calculated. The study investigated the differences of student academic performance among students with different family SES and searched for the quantitative variation between the output of student academic performance and family SES.
