This paper is an evaluation of seasonal influenza vaccination hesitancy (IVH) and its determinants among community HCWs in Chongqing, a city in southwest China. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 1030 community HCWs with direct or indirect patient contact was conducted from July to September 2021 using a self-administered electronic questionnaire. Possible factors for IVH among community HCWs were investigated by multivariable logistic regression to yield adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: Overall, 46.2% of community HCWs were vaccinated in the 2020–2021 season, while 65.8% of community HCWs had IVH. "Don't know the coverage in China" (OR: 1.46, 95% CI: 1.01–2.11; 40-year-old group OR: 3.02, 95% CI: 1.92–4.76), "complacency" (OR: 4.55, 95% CI: 3.14–6.60) were positively related with having IVH. The community HCWs that had a history of influenza vaccination (OR: 0.67 95% CI: 0.48–0.95) and groups with confidence and convenience (OR: 0.08, 95% CI: 0.06–0.12; OR: 0.34, 95% CI: 0.23–0.52, respectively) were more likely to completely accept vaccination. Conclusions: Measures such as improving the awareness and knowledge of influenza and vaccination and expanding the free vaccination policy, combined with improving the convenience of the vaccination service, will promote increased seasonal influenza vaccination-coverage in community HCWs in Chongqing. The article presents a study on a field test and analytical analysis for measurements of vertical pressure at a top coal mining face at Datong Tashan Mines, China. Based on the real-time pressure monitoring of single props and hydraulic supports at a top coal mining face, intensive factors of pressure were adopted to provide a quantitative description of the mining mechanics.

Selaginellins I (1) and J (2), two new compounds, were isolated from Selaginella tamariscina (Beauv.) Deep and even ultra-deep petroleum resources play a gradually increasing and important role with the worldwide continuous advancement of oil and gas exploration and development. In China, the deep carbonate reservoirs in the Tarim Basin are regarded as the key development areas due to their huge reserves. However, due to the unreasonable design of production pressure differential, some production wells suffered from severe borehole collapse and tubing blockage. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to optimize a more practical method for predicting the critical production pressure differential. The commonly used analytical methods with different failure criteria for predicting production pressure differential were summarized. Furthermore, their advantages and disadvantages were analyzed. A new numerical model is established based on the finite element theory in order to make the prediction of production pressure differential more accurate. Additionally, both analytical and numerical methods were applied to evaluating the production pressure differential of deep carbonate reservoirs in the Tarim Basin, and the results were discussed compared with field data. In addition, a series of laboratory tests, including porosity and permeability measurements, electron microscope scanning, XRD for mineral analysis, uniaxial and triaxial compressive strength test, etc., were carried out by using the collected carbonate cores from formations deeper than 7000 m to obtain the input parameters of the simulation such as the rock properties. The experimental results showed that the carbonate rocks exhibited a remarkable brittleness and post-peak strain softening. The calculation results revealed that the Mogi-Coulomb criterion is slightly conservative; however, it is more suitable than other criteria to evaluate pressure differential. Furthermore, it has been confirmed by the field data that the finite element numerical method can not only reveal the instability mechanism of the wellbore but also predict the critical production pressure differential accurately. Unfortunately, the on-site operators sometimes require a more convenient way, such as an analytical method, to figure out the pressure differential, even though the evaluation of the numerical method is more accurate. • Effects of long-term exposure to air pollution on lung function remains unclear. • We conducted a cross-sectional, multicenter study with 5281 adults from Shanghai, China. • Exposure to ambient PM 2.5 and NO 2 were negatively associated with lung function decline. • For PM2.5, stronger negative associations were found in the obese and ever-smokers. • For NO2, stronger negative associations were found in the obese, never-smokers and females. Few studies have evaluated the effects of ambient air pollution exposure on lung function, especially in areas with high air pollution levels. To investigate the associations of annual concentrations of particulate matter with diameters < 2.5 μm (PM 2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO 2) with adult lung function in Shanghai, China. We included 5276 permanent residents aged ≥ 20 years. Annual residential exposure to PM 2.5 and NO 2 was estimated by validated satellite-based and land use regression models, respectively. The effects of PM 2.5 and NO 2 on lung function were estimated separately using multivariable linear regression, adjusting for potential confounders. Higher exposure to PM 2.5 and NO 2 was significantly associated with lower forced vital capacity (FVC), inspiration capacity (IC), and vital capacity (VC). An increase of 10 μg/m3 in the annual average PM 2.5 exposure was associated with a 45.83 ml (95% CI: −82.59, −9.07) lower FVC, 1.36 (95% CI: −2.42, −0.29) lower FVC of % predicted (FVC %pred), 121.98 ml (95% CI: −164.38, −79.57) lower IC, and 89.12 ml (95% CI −124.94, −53.3) lower VC. For NO 2 , an increase of 10 μg/m3 in the annual average concentration was associated with 26.65 ml (95% CI: −46.29, −7.00) lower FVC, 0.70 (95% CI: −1.27, 0.13) lower FVC %pred , 65.26 ml (95% CI: −87.76, −42.76) lower IC, and 45.88 ml (95% CI: −65.03, −26.73) lower VC. The estimated effects on FEV1 were −10.25 ml (95% CI: −40.92, 20.42) and −0.29% (95% CI: −1.40, 0.82) per 10 μg/m3 increase in PM 2.5 and −0.74 ml (95% CI: −17.13, 15.65) and 0.01% (95% CI: −0.58, 0.61) per 10 μg/m3 increase in NO 2 , which were not statistically significant. Stratified analysis showed that the estimated effects of PM 2.5 were greater in the healthy subgroup than the COPD patients. Obese individuals were more susceptible to adverse effects of PM 2.5 and NO 2 on lung function. Education level showed no or only weak evidence of modification of the associations between air pollution and lung function. Background: For patients with non-small cell lung cancer, a negative margin status is required for radical pulmonary surgery. Residual disease of the margin has been thoroughly studied in the past few decades. However, the prognostic significance of tracheal tunica adventitia invasion after lobectomy remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical influence of tracheal tunica adventitia invasion after lobectomy., Methods: We retrospectively collected the clinical data of 591 patients who consecutively underwent pulmonary lobectomy, including sleeve lobectomy, between 2012 and 2018 at Shanghai Chest Hospital. According to the tracheal tunica adventitia invasion status, we allocated the patients into 2 groups (tracheal tunica adventitia invasion and non-tracheal tunica adventitia). Disease-free and overall survival were evaluated, and we discussed the necessity of radiotherapy in patients with tracheal tunica adventitia., Results: After propensity score matching to balance baseline characteristics, there were 167 individuals in the tracheal tunica adventitia invasion and non-tracheal tunica adventitia groups. In the hazard analysis, we found that tracheal tunica adventitia increased the risk of recurrence (hazard ratio: 0.652; P = .002) and impaired long-term survival (P < .001). Subgroup analysis revealed that tracheal tunica adventitia was an important risk factor, especially when the hilar lymph nodes were positive. In addition, tracheal tunica adventitia invasion promoted extra-thoracic lymph node metastasis. We discovered that radiotherapy did not improve the prognosis of patients in the tracheal tunica adventitia invasion group., Conclusions: After lobectomy, tracheal tunica adventitia invasion is a risk factor for non-small cell lung cancer and potentially increases extra-thoracic lymph node metastasis. Background: It is true that Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) will increase social burden, especially in developing countries. Urban-rural differences in the lagged effects of PM2.5 and PM10 on COPD mortality remain unclear, in Chongqing, China., Methods: In this study, a distributed lag non-linear model (DLNMs) was established to describe the urban-rural differences in the lagged effects of PM2.5, PM10 and COPD mortality in Chongqing, using 312,917 deaths between 2015 and 2020., Results: According to the DLNMs results, COPD mortality in Chongqing increases with increasing PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations, and the relative risk (RR) of the overall 7-day cumulative effect is higher in rural areas than in urban areas. High values of RR in urban areas occurred at the beginning of exposure (Lag 0 ~ Lag 1). High values of RR in rural areas occur mainly during Lag 1 to Lag 2 and Lag 6 to Lag 7., Conclusion: Exposure to PM2.5 and PM10 is associated with an increased risk of COPD mortality in Chongqing, China. COPD mortality in urban areas has a high risk of increase in the initial phase of PM2.5 and PM10 exposure. Objectives: Recently, early-stage lung cancer has been drawing more attention, especially in screening and treatment. Visceral pleural invasion in stage IB cancer is considered as risk factor for poor prognosis. Herein, we aimed to study the distinction between the different locations of visceral pleural invasion., Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we summarized 58,242 patient cases that underwent surgery from 2015 to 2018 at Shanghai Chest Hospital. Of those patients, 389 met the inclusion criteria. Patients with PL3 pleural invasion were excluded. The patients were dichotomized into the interlobar pleural and peripheral pleural groups. The outcomes measured were overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) rates., Results: According to the initial analysis, the baseline characteristics of the two groups were largely balanced. In multivariate Cox analyses, we found that the location of visceral pleural invasion was not a risk factor for prognosis in the overall population (RFS: P = 0.726, OS: P = 0.599). However, we discovered that relative to patients with peripheral pleura invasion, those with interlobar pleura invasion, PL1 invasion, lesions with greater than 3 cm solid components, and those who underwent segmentectomy had a compromised prognosis. Additionally, tumors larger than 3 cm in size with interlobar pleura invasion showed poor prognosis in patients who underwent postoperative chemotherapy., Conclusions: In most cases, the location of tumor invasion did not worsen the postoperative prognosis of stage IB non-small cell lung cancer patients with visceral pleural invasion. Background: There are regional differences in the effect of green space on mortality of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We conduct an ecological study, using the administrative divisions of Chongqing townships in China as the basic unit, to investigate the association between COPD mortality and green space based on data of 313,013 COPD deaths in Chongqing from 2012 to 2020. Green space is defined by Fractional vegetation cover (FVC), which is further calculated based on the normalised vegetation index (NDVI) from satellite remote sensing imagery maps., Methods: After processing the data, the non-linear relationship between green space and COPD mortality is revealed by generalised additive models; the spatial differences between green space and COPD mortality is described by geographically weighted regression models; and finally, the interpretive power and interaction of each factor on the spatial distribution of COPD mortality is examined by a geographic probe., Results: The results show that the FVC local regression coefficients ranged from - 0.0397 to 0.0478, 63.0% of the regions in Chongqing have a positive correlation between green space and COPD mortality while 37.0% of the regions mainly in the northeast and west have a negative correlation. The interpretive power of the FVC factor on the spatial distribution of COPD mortality is 0.08., Conclusions: Green space may be a potential risk factor for increased COPD mortality in some regions of Chongqing. Background: Adiposity is widely recognized as one of the risk factors for high blood pressure (BP) and increasing adiposity is associated with elevated BP. However, which measures of adiposity could be most strongly associated with BP in multi-ethnic population remains uncertain, giving rise to implications that population-based adiposity measures could be necessary., Methods: 80,000 multi-ethnic adults recruited from 5 provinces across Southwest China during 2018 ~ 2019 were studied. Multiple linear regression was applied to investigate the associations of systolic blood pressure (SBP) with: (1) two measures of general adiposity, body mass index (BMI) and height-adjusted weight; and (2) three measures of central adiposity, waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC) and waist hip ratio (WHR)., Results: Two distinct population-specific patterns were identified, as "BMI to SBP" and "WC to SBP". 90% of the participants fall into "BMI to SBP" pattern, in which the associations of SBP with BMI were independent of WC, and SBP-WC associations were considerably decreased by adjustment for BMI. And in this pattern, 10 kg/m 2 greater BMI was associated with 11.9 mm Hg higher SBP on average. As for the rest population (Han males in Yunnan and Tibetans in Lhasa), they are suited for "WC to SBP" pattern, 10 cm wider WC was associated with 3.4 mm Hg higher SBP., Conclusion: Our results indicated that when selecting proper predictors for BP, population-specific adiposity measures are needed, considering ethnicity, sex and residing regions. Background: Sleeve lobectomy is recognized as an alternative surgical operation to pneumonectomy because it preserves the most pulmonary function and has a considerable prognosis. In this study, we aimed to investigate the implications of residual status for patients after sleeve lobectomy., Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we summarized 58 242 patients who underwent surgeries from 2015 to 2018 in Shanghai Chest Hospital and found 456 eligible patients meeting the criteria. The status of R2 was excluded. The outcomes were overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS). We performed a subgroup analysis to further our investigation., Results: After the propensity score match, the baseline characteristic was balanced between two groups. The survival analysis showed no significant difference of overall survival and recurrence-free survival between R0 and R1 groups (OS: p = 0.053; RFS: p = 0.14). In the multivariate Cox analysis, we found that the margin status was not a dependent risk factor to RFS (p = 0.119) and OS (p = 0.093). In the patients of R1, N stage and age were closely related to OS, but we did not find any significant risk variable in RFS for R1 status. In the subgroup analysis, R1 status may have a worse prognosis on patients with more lymph nodes examination. On further investigation, we demonstrated no differences among the four histological types of margin status., Conclusion: In our study, we confirmed that the margin status after sleeve lobectomies was not the risk factor to prognosis. Acquired respiratory-digestive tract fistulas occur with abnormal communication between the airways and digestive tract, causing the interflow of gas and liquid. Despite advances in surgical methods and the development of multimodal therapy in recent years, patients with acquired respiratory-digestive tract fistulas continue to exhibit unfavorable clinical outcomes. Therefore, in order to guide clinical practice in China, the Respiratory and Cancer Intervention Alliance of the Beijing Health Promotion Association organized a group of experienced experts in the field to develop this consensus document. Based on a study of clinical application and expert experience in the diagnosis and management of acquired respiratory-digestive tract fistulas at home and abroad, an Expert Consensus was developed. The panelists recruited comprised experts in pulmonology, oncology, thoracic surgery, interventional radiology, and gastroenterology. PubMed, Chinese Biology Abstract, Chinese Academic Journal, and Wanfang databases were used to identify relevant articles. The guidelines address etiology, classification, pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of acquired respiratory-digestive tract fistulas. The statements on treatment focus on the indications for different procedures, technical aspects, and preprocedural, post-procedural and complication management. The proposed guidelines for the diagnosis and management of acquired respiratory-digestive tract fistulas are the first to be published by Chinese experts. Objective: Asthma is the most common chronic pulmonary disease in China and is characterized by airway inflammation and episodic airflow obstruction. The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the relation of two transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) polymorphisms with asthma risk in Chinese population., Methods: PubMed, Springer, EMBASE, MEDLINE, CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), and Wanfang databases were used to search and retrieve relevant eligible case-control studies published through December 2017. The odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used to evaluate the effect., Results: A total of 2040 asthma patients and 1952 controls from 12 studies were analyzed. Two polymorphic sites of TGF-β1 gene were identified: -509C/T and +869T/C. We found that the -509C/T polymorphism was associated with increased asthma risk under the heterozygous model (CT vs. CC: OR = 1.40, 95% CI = 1.03-1.90, p = 0.03) and the dominant model (TT+CT vs. CC: OR = 1.41, 95% CI = 1.05-1.90, p = 0.02). Subgroup analyses by age suggested that -509C/T variant was associated with childhood asthma. Analysis of disease severity indicated that this variant was associated with both mild-to-moderate asthma and severe asthma. However, the +869T/C polymorphism was not associated with asthma susceptibility in subgroup analysis by age or disease severity., Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the -509C/T polymorphism of the TGF-β1 gene might be a risk factor for asthma in the Chinese population, especially in Chinese children. Further large-scale case-control studies are still required.

Background: Primary tracheal cancer comprises a heterogeneous and rare group of neoplasms. Management of patients with primary tracheal carcinoma at our institution has improved in recent years., Methods: This retrospective review included patients with localized primary tracheal adenoid cystic carcinoma treated surgically at our institution between January 1995 and December 2014. Patients were classified according to the timing of first operation: "early years" operation was performed between January 1995 and December 2002, and subsequent "recent years" operation was associated with improved management and a focus on early diagnosis., Results: The proportion of patients with tracheal malignancy who underwent operation for adenoid cystic carcinoma increased with time. Patients in the recent group were significantly younger than those in the early group at diagnosis (49.3 ± 7.8 years versus 45.7 ± 9.4 years; p = 0.042), and the resected tumor size and tracheal lengths tended to be smaller (28.2 ± 7.6 mm versus 30.3 ± 7.0 mm; p = 0.161) and shorter (32.1 ± 7.7 mm versus 34.4 ± 6.7 mm; p = 0.123). The use of postoperative radiotherapy in patients with R1 resection was also managed more effectively in the recent group compared with the early group (90.6% versus 65.0%; p = 0.009). Five- and 10-year overall survival rates in the early and recent groups were 86.4% and 90.8%, and 31.8% and 61.2%, respectively (p = 0.084), and the corresponding 5- and 10-year disease-free survival rates were 39.7% and 75.3%, and 9.9% and 21.2%, respectively (p = 0.025)., Conclusions: There have been improved outcomes of adenoid cystic carcinomas. Early diagnosis, experienced surgical treatments, and postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy for patients with positive margins may contribute to the improved survival of patients with primary tracheal adenoid cystic carcinoma., (Copyright © 2016 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and feasibility of robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS)., Methods: From May 2009 to May 2013, 48 patients with intrathoracic lesions underwent RATS with the da Vinci® Surgical System was reported (11 lobectomies, 37 mediastinal tumour resections)., Results: RATS was successfully and safely completed in all 48 patients. Conversion of the operation to open surgery was not needed in any patient. The average operation time was 85.9 min, average blood loss 33 ml, and average hospital stay 3.9 days. No patient required blood transfusion. The only recognized adverse event was the development of a bronchopleural fistula in one patient., Conclusions: RATS appears feasible and safe in thoracic surgery.
