Background: The emergence of an aging society and the digital age makes healthy aging a hot topic in Chinese society. This paper explores the associations between digital literacy and the subjective health of older adult individuals in PR China, offering insights that May assist policymakers and service providers in developing strategies and interventions suited to the digital era, potentially enhancing the healthy aging process for this demographic in China., Methods: This study utilized data from the China Longitudinal Aging Social Survey. Initially, demographic variables of 2086 individuals in the sample were analyzed. Subjective health differences among different populations and correlations between core variables were examined. Subsequently, multivariate linear regression and chain mediation methods were utilized to examine the relationships and potential pathways among the three dimensions of digital literacy and the subjective health of older adult individuals., Results: (1) The subjective health status of older adult individuals in China was generally favorable, with an average score of 3.406 ± 0.764. (2) There was no direct correlation observed between the frequency of digital information use and the subjective health of the older adult ( b  = -0.032, p  > 0.1). Digital entertainment information ( b  = 0.294, p  > 0.1) did not show a significant effect, whereas life management information ( b  = 0.437, p  < 0.01) demonstrated a positive association. Similarly, the use of smart healthcare devices ( b  = 0.842, p  < 0.001) indicated a positive association (3) The frequency of digital information use indirectly enhanced the subjective health of the older adult through life management digital information and the use of smart healthcare devices, but had no indirect effect through entertainment and leisure digital information., Conclusion: Digital literacy is significantly correlated with the subjective health of the older adult, especially when they acquire life management information and utilize smart healthcare devices. However, a potential negative relationship is suggested between digital entertainment information and the subjective health of older adult individuals. Therefore, digital infrastructure should have prioritized the provision of high-quality, age-friendly digital applications for the older adult. Background: The focus of students' health concerns has gradually progressed from the single factor of physical health to comprehensive health factors, and the physical and mental health of students are now generally considered together. This study focuses on exploring the status of junior high school students' physical health and their subjective health assessment with the major societal factors that affect students' lives: School Life and Family involvement. In addition, we explore the main factors influencing students' subjective health. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 190 Tibetan junior high school students in the Maozhuang Township. The intentional sampling was used to choose the research object. The structured questionnaire comprised four parts, namely social and demographic information, family condition, school life, and subjective health quality which was assessed by PROMIS (Chinese version of the Pediatric Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System). Result: The average height and weight of boys and girls are statistically different (p-values of 0.026 and 0.044, respectively), but there is no statistically significant difference in BMI (Body Mass Index) between boys and girls (p-value of 0.194). The average values of the five dimensions of depression, anger, anxiety, fatigue, and peer relationships in the PROMIS of the research subjects were 58.9 ± 5.3, 53.3 ± 8.0, 58.1 ± 7.3, 52.8 ± 8.0, 39.3 ± 6.6. In the demographic dimension, the grade was the main factor influencing anger (p < 0.01) and fatigue (p < 0.01), while gender was related to peer relationships (p = 0.02). In the family dimension, the father's educational level was related to peer relationships (p = 0.05), while the family financial situation was related to depression (p = 0.01). In the school life dimension, relationship with classmates was found to affect anger (p = 0.05), while homework was related to anxiety (p = 0.02) and fatigue (p = 0.05). Conclusion: the physical health index BMI and subjective health evaluation of students are worse than students of more developed areas in China. Their family environment and school life all have varying degrees of impact on the five subjective health outcomes. There are differences in gender and grade level. The government and society need to pay more attention to the physical and mental health of students in remote and underdeveloped areas and improve their health through a student nutrition plan and the establishment of mental health offices. This study focuses on PM2.5, a key indicator of air pollution, in three countries at different stages of economic development (India, China, and Japan) to empirically elucidate the impact of PM2.5 concentrations on subjective well-being. We identify two types of effects that PM2.5 may have on people's subjective well-being: health-related effects and non-health-related effects. We obtain statistically significant results for health-related effects for China and India; for non-health-related effects, we obtain statistically significant results only for Japan. Notably, we observe that in China, life satisfaction is significantly reduced by health-related effects, even if the PM2.5 concentrations are lower than the domestic standard. This finding suggests that, from the viewpoint of health, more stringent environmental standards are required in China. For Japan, we find that life satisfaction is reduced by non-health-related effects when the pollution level exceeds the domestic environmental standard. This suggests the importance of efforts to reduce the level of pollution in Japan to meet the domestic environmental standard, even if there are no health-related effects. Our results thus indicate that to improve life satisfaction, when we set environmental standards, we need to consider not only health-related problems but also people's sense of crisis. • Examine biodiversity and human health association at the national level in China. • Biodiversity was found to be significantly related to good mental health but poor subjective. • Per Capita Disposable Income moderates the relationship between biodiversity and mental health. • The relationship between biodiversity and mental health was negatively, positively, and not significant in regions with low, medium, and high economic development, respectively. • There might be a lower and upper threshold at which biodiversity exerts a positive impact on mental health. Climate change and the rapid loss of biodiversity pose threats to human survival and development. However, there remains a limited understanding of the relationship between biodiversity and human health, especially in the context of developing countries. This study pursues two objectives: (1) to explore the relationship between biodiversity and human health; and (2) to investigate how this relationship varies across different economic regions. Using a cross-sectional design, we analyzed data from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across China. The dataset encompassed information on biodiversity (animals, plants, and fungi), subjective health, and mental health. We employed a two-stage least squares analysis, designating the proportion of part-time rangers and the completion of investments in wild fauna and flora per unit area as instrumental variables. Subsequently, we examined the moderating effect of the average Per Capita Disposable Income on the relationship between biodiversity and mental health. Additionally, we conducted grouped regression analyses for three regions with varying levels of economic development. The regression model incorporated macroecological, macroeconomic, and sociodemographic data as control variables. The results indicated a correlation between bird, plant species richness, biological richness (the total number of plants, animals, and fungi), and mental health. However, these biodiversity measures were significantly associated with poor subjective health. Additionally, the contribution of biological richness to mental health declines as the average Per Capita Disposable Income rises. The relationship between biodiversity and mental health was significantly negative in regions with low economic development, significantly positive in medium economic development regions, and not significant in high economic development regions. The analysis indicates that as the economy grows, there may exist a lower and upper threshold at which biodiversity exerts a positive impact on mental health. These thresholds merit further investigation. This observed gap might be attributed to the diminishing natural experiences in regions undergoing rapid economic development. Questions from the World Values Survey were administered to 404 undergraduates at a Chinese university to explore the relationships among rural and urban experience, gender role attitudes, and psychological well-being. Results showed that female students were more gender egalitarian than were male students. Female students with traditional gender role attitudes were more likely to be from rural than urban areas, display lower subjective health, and report lower life satisfaction. Male students with traditional gender role attitudes scored higher on life satisfaction than did traditional females. The results imply that exposure to urban living experiences leads to more egalitarian gender role attitudes, and that this attitude is accompanied by better psychological well-being for females. Given the increasing use of the Internet in China, the relationship between Internet use and population health has been receiving increased academic attention. However, the current literature has not yet reached a unified conclusion; thus, further research is very necessary. This study used the 2018 China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) data to explore the relationship between Internet use and the health of the population and to evaluate the possible heterogeneity of the association between different groups and the mediation path. This study revealed that Internet use has a positive association with the subjective health of the population. The results of the heterogeneity analysis revealed that Internet use is more significantly associated with the health of non-agricultural workers and those with higher education levels than that of agricultural workers and those with lower education levels. Further analysis revealed that health behavior is an important mediator between Internet use and population health. These results remain robust even after using propensity score matching (PSM) to eliminate sample selection bias.

• Substance use has adverse effect on subjective health. • Cognitive reappraisal moderated relationship of substance use and subjective health. • Cognitive reappraisal can reduce the adverse effect of drinking on subjective health. This study investigated the relationship between substance use (i.e., smoking, drinking, and using illicit drugs), subjective health, and cognitive reappraisal in Chinese left-behind adolescents in rural areas. A total of 1,375 Chinese adolescents aged 15–19 years with left-behind experience in rural areas participated in this study. Substance use, substance use risk profile, subjective health complaints, and cognitive reappraisal were assessed. Substance use was negatively correlated with subjective health, and cognitive reappraisal was positively correlated with both substance use and subjective health. The regression analysis showed that substance use (negative) and cognitive reappraisal (positive) significantly predicted subjective health. The interaction between drinking frequency and cognitive reappraisal was also a significant predictor of subjective health. Furthermore, the simple slope analysis showed that for the group with low cognitive reappraisal, drinking frequency was negatively associated with subjective health, whereas there was no significant effect of drinking frequency on subjective health in the group with high cognitive reappraisal. These results indicated that cognitive reappraisal was a significant moderator in the relationship between drinking frequency and subjective health. Our results suggest that while substance use has an adverse effect on subjective health, cognitive reappraisal can reduce this adverse effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In developing countries, older adults (65 years of age and above) share an increased vulnerability to catastrophic health expenditures and financial stress which can have significant bearing on their health and well-being. Currently, research evidence on how financial stress correlates with health and well-being among older adults in the developing countries is limited. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to assess the relationship between financial stress and subjective 1) health, 2) depression, 3) quality of life, and 4) life satisfaction among older adults in five developing countries., Methods: Data used in this study were cross-sectional which were collected from the first wave of Study on Global AGEing and Health (SAGE) survey of World Health Organization. Sample population were 12,299 community dwelling men and women in China (n = 4548), Ghana (n = 1968), India (n = 2441), South Africa (n = 1924), and Russia (n = 1418). Using generalized linear models with logit links, we assessed the correlation between self-reported financial stress and income inequality with the four outcome measures by adjusting for various sociodemographic factors., Results: Overall, the prevalence of good self-reported health, quality of life and positive life-satisfaction was 47.11, 79.25 and 44.40% respectively, while 20.13% of the participants reported having depression during past 12 months. Only about a fifth (18.67%) of the participants reported having enough money to meet daily their necessities completely, while more than quarter (28.45%) were in the lowest income quintile. With a few exceptions, the odds of reporting good self-reported health, quality of life, and life satisfaction were generally lower among those with varying degrees of financial stress, and larger among those in the higher income quintiles. Conversely, the likelihood of self-reported depression was significantly higher among those with any level of financial stress, and lower among those in the higher income quintiles., Conclusion: This study concludes that both subjectively and objectively measured financial stress are inversely associated with good self-reported health, quality of life, life satisfaction, and positively associated with self-reported depression among older adults.
