Objective: Pharmacists are health care professionals who are actively involved in identifying and solving drug-related problems (DRPs) in patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. However, the effectiveness of pharmaceutical services at outpatient clinic for patients with HCV infection have not been reported in China. This study aims to describe and investigate the impacts of pharmacists-managed outpatient clinic in patients with HCV infection. Methods: We conducted a descriptive and retrospective study between May 2020 and April 2022. In order to give full play to the efficacy of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs), we established a referral process for HCV patients with DAAs. Doctors prescribed DAAs for HCV-infected outpatients, and then transferred them to the outpatient clinic managed by pharmacists. Pharmacists cooperated to complete the pharmaceutical monitoring of DAAs treatment for patients. The pharmacist conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the patient's medication and developed planned intervention measures based on identified DRPs. Results: A total of 473 eligible patients participated in 851 pharmaceutical care. A total of 518 DRPs were identified (an average of 1.1 per patient). Treatment effectiveness (48.8%) was the most common DRP. The most commonly recommended intervention was changing the drug (18.3%). There were 97.1% patients accepting the interventions and 93.05% patients completely implemented. The overall sustained virologic response at week 12 posttreatment (SVR12) rate was 98.5% (466/473). The most cost-effective treatment was selected in 98.7% of patients. Conclusions: We confirmed that pharmacists had a valuable role to perform pharmacy services for HCV-infected outpatients. Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS) is a rare, toxin-mediated, desquamating bacterial infectious dermatosis. So far, data from Southwestern China is scarce. This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of SSSS patients in our hospital, the relative proportion of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in skin and soft tissue secretions, and the drug sensitivity of S. aureus to better assist dermatologists in the diagnosis and treatment of SSSS. We reviewed the demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations, treatment regimens, therapeutic efficacy, laboratory test results, drug sensitivity, and outcome data of 79 SSSS patients from January 2012 to December 2021. Statistical analysis was performed using t tests and chi-square tests. Among the 79 SSSS patients, MRSA was detected in 35 (44.3%) isolates: 34 community-acquired (CA)-MRSA (97.1%) and 1 hospital-acquired (HA)-MRSA. The SSSS incidence increased annually from 2012 to 2014 and then decreased gradually after peaking in 2015. All the isolates were sensitive to vancomycin, tigecycline, linezolid, moxifloxacin, levofloxacin, and ciprofloxacin; were completely resistant to penicillin; and had low sensitivity to clindamycin and erythromycin. Interestingly, the sensitivity of MRSA to tetracycline increased annually after 2015. The resistance rates to common drugs previously used to treat SSSS increased. These findings may accelerate diagnosis and improve empirical antibiotic use, suggesting that clinicians should prescribe drugs according to antimicrobial susceptibility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The association between serum uric acid (SUA) and atrial fibrillation (AF) has been widely focused on and studied in recent years. However, the exact association between SUA and AF is unclear, and the effect of gender on the association between SUA levels and AF has been controversial. This study aimed to investigate the association between SUA levels and non-valvular AF (NVAF) and the potential effect of gender on it. Patients and Methods: A total of 866 NVAF patients (463 males, age 69.44 ± 8.07 years) and 646 sex-matched control patients in sinus rhythm, with no history of arrhythmia were included in this study. t-test, ANOVA, and chi-square test were used for baseline data analysis. The receiver operating characteristic curve, logistic regression and Pearson correlation analysis were used for correlation analysis. Results: Compared to controls, NVAF patients exhibited higher SUA (P< 0.001). After adjusting for confounders of NVAF, SUA remained significantly associated with NVAF, regardless of gender (OR= 1.31, 95% CI 1.18– 1.43, P< 0.001). SUA demonstrated higher predictability and sensitivity in predicting the occurrence of female NVAF compared to male (area under the curve was 0.68 (95% CI 0.64– 0.72, P< 0.001), sensitivity 87.3%), with the optimal cut-off point identified as 5.72 mg/dL. Furthermore, SUA levels correlated with APOA1, Scr and NT-proBNP in NVAF patients. SUA levels varied significantly among NVAF subtypes. Conclusion: High SUA levels were independently associated with NVAF, regardless of gender. SUA exhibited higher predictability and sensitivity in predicting the occurrence of NVAF in females compared to males. Background: The causes of some stillbirths are unclear, and additional work must be done to investigate the risk factors for stillbirths. Objective: To apply the International Classification of Disease-10 (ICD-10) for antepartum stillbirth at a referral center in eastern China. Methods: Antepartum stillbirths were grouped according to the cause of death according to the International Classification of Disease-10 (ICD-10) criteria. The main maternal condition at the time of antepartum stillbirth was assigned to each patient. Results: Antepartum stillbirths were mostly classified as fetal deaths of unspecified cause, antepartum hypoxia. Although more than half of the mothers were without an identified condition at the time of the antepartum stillbirth, where there was a maternal condition associated with perinatal death, maternal medical and surgical conditions and maternal complications during pregnancy were most common. Of all the stillbirths, 51.2% occurred between 28 and 37 weeks of gestation, the main causes of stillbirth at different gestational ages also differed. Autopsy and chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) were recommended in all stillbirths, but only 3.6% received autopsy and 10.5% underwent chromosomal microarray analysis. Conclusions: The ICD-10 is helpful in classifying the causes of stillbirths, but more than half of the stillbirths in our study were unexplained; therefore, additional work must be done. And the ICD-10 score may need to be improved, such as by classifying stillbirths according to gestational age. Purpose: To explore the epidemiological trends in acetabular fracture and report the mid-term to long-term clinical outcomes of the elderly treated with operation. Methods: Retrospective study. Patients aged ≥ 14 years with operative treatment of the Acetabular fracture from Jan 2010 to Dec 2019 at a level-1 trauma centre were identified to analyze the epidemiological trends, and the difference in fracture patterns between young and elderly patients (≥ 60 years old) were compared. The elderly patients were followed up to evaluate their clinical outcomes and satisfaction degree (worst to best: 0 to10). The patients were divided into the 2010–2014 group and the 2015–2019 group according to the year of admission, and the clinical outcomes of the two groups were compared to verify the stability from mid-term to long-term after surgery for acetabular fracture. Results: A total of 1024 patients (mean age 43.35 years, range 14–86 years) with acetabular fractures received operative treatment in this decade. The mean age of the acetabular fracture patients increased from 41.1 years to 47.7 years, and the proportion of elderly patients increased from 5.7% to 24.0%, with some volatility. The ratio of male to female decreased year by year, and the proportion of female patients increased with age. And the anterior fracture patterns were more common in the elderly patients compared to the young patients (P < 0.001). 118 elderly patients (82 males, 36 females; mean age 66.91 years, range 60–86 years) were followed-up (mean 77.4 months, range 35–152 months). The overall mortality rate of the elderly patients was 7.69% (9/118). The Harris hip score of those alive patients was 90.41 ± 12.91 points (excellent and good rate 84.4%). 87 patients completed the SF-12 with a normal HRQoL (PCS 50.49 ± 8.88 points; MCS 55.66 ± 8.86 points). 90.8% of the patients achieved a satisfaction score of 9 or higher. And there was no significant difference in clinical outcomes between the 2010–2014 group and the 2015–2019 group (P > 0.05). Conclusions: In conclusion, acetabular fractures presented an obvious ageing trend in China, and the fracture patterns of the elderly patients differed from those in the young patients. Rhinoplasty is a frequently performed aesthetic surgery with a high procedural volume. Despite the operational ease and safety profile of biocompatible materials such as silicone and inflatable prosthetics, postoperative complications like surgical site infections can lead to significant clinical challenges. These complications necessitate effective therapeutic and reconstructive interventions. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of different flap transplantation techniques for early treatment of post‐rhinoplasty nasal tissue deficiencies. A retrospective study was conducted from May 2018 to May 2023, involving 38 patients divided into a control group receiving standard anti‐infective treatment and an observation group undergoing early flap grafting procedures. Efficacy was evaluated using objective metrics—namely, nasal appearance, function and flap condition—each assessed through a 10‐point scoring system, and subjective metrics such as patient satisfaction gauged through self‐administered questionnaires. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 27.0. Both groups were statistically comparable in terms of demographics such as age, marital status and educational background. The observation group displayed significantly improved outcomes in terms of nasal aesthetics (mean score 7.92 ± 1.00), nasal function (mean score 8.47 ± 0.51) and flap condition (mean score 7.89 ± 1.12) compared to the control group. Flap transplantation techniques demonstrated superior therapeutic and reconstructive efficacy in the management of nasal tissue deficiencies arising from post‐rhinoplasty surgical infections. Objective: To assess the risk of aristolochic acid (AA)-associated cancer in patients with AA nephropathy (AAN). Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients diagnosed with AAN at Peking University First Hospital from January 1997 to December 2014. Long-term surveillance and follow-up data were analyzed to investigate the influence of different factors on the prevalence of cancer. The primary endpoint was the incidence of liver cancer, and the secondary endpoint was the incidence of urinary cancer during 1 year after taking AA-containing medication to 2014. Results: A total of 337 patients diagnosed with AAN were included in this study. From the initiation of taking AA to the termination of follow-up, 39 patients were diagnosed with cancer. No cases of liver cancer were observed throughout the entire follow-up period, with urinary cancer being the predominant type (34/39, 87.17%). Logistic regression analysis showed that age, follow-up period, and diabetes were potential risk factors, however, the dosage of the drug was not significantly associated with urinary cancer. Conclusions: No cases of liver cancer were observed at the end of follow-up. However, a high prevalence of urinary cancer was observed in AAN patients. Background: For adolescents with major depression who exhibit suicidal tendencies, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is increasingly adopted in clinical practice. Yet, the precise mechanisms behind its effectiveness remain elusive, and studies on factors that influence treatment outcomes are scarce. Methods: In this retrospective comparative study, we included all adolescent severe depressive episode patients with suicidal tendencies admitted to the Psychiatry Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between 2017 and 2021 and received ECT treatment. By collecting data on personal history, medical history, and standard treatment features, we established demographic, disease, medication, and ECT treatment factors variables. Patients were divided into effective and ineffective groups based on the Clinical Global Impressions-Improvement (CGI-I) scale scores, and differences between outcomes were compared. Logistic regression analyses were used to identify factors independently associated with ineffectiveness. Results: A total of 494 adolescent severe depressive episode patients with suicidal behavior who received ECT were included in this study. According to CGI-I scores, the treatment was effective in 361 patients (73.1%) and ineffective in 133 patients (26.9%). Logistic regression analyses showed that 8 to 12 and 12 to 16 ECT sessions reduced the risk of ineffectiveness compared to fewer than 4 sessions. The risk of ineffectiveness decreased with age and increased with comorbidity with obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD). Compared to sertraline, escitalopram was associated with a heightened risk of futility, whereas olanzapine and aripiprazole demonstrated a reduced risk when contrasted with quetiapine. Conclusions: ECT's ineffectiveness in treating adolescent severe depressive episode with suicidal behavior decreases with age, and comorbidity with OCD significantly increases the risk of treatment failure. Background: The lateral profile is an important indicator of facial attractiveness. This study explored the general characteristics of the forehead profile and protrusion, and their relationship with related factors in structure and development. Methods: Four hundred fourteen Chinese participants in the Yangtze River Delta region were involved. Including 206 males (17.15 ± 7.68 years old) and 208 females (18.35 ± 8.06 years old); 94 children (8.54 ± 2.21 years old, ranging from 4 to 12 years old), 166 adolescents (14.83 ± 1.50 years old, ranging from 13 to 17 years old), and 154 adults (25.52 ± 4.89, 18 years or older). The frontal section of the forehead was used to explore its shape. The straight distance between the vertical line of the FH plane through the nasal root point and its parallel line, which is tangential to the forehead, indicates the forehead prominence. Frontal sinus width was measured using the method described by Mahmood. Results: The general shape of the forehead was straight and slightly bulged near the eyebrow arch in males but rounder in females. The average forehead protrusion in males was higher than that in females in adults. Significant differences in forehead protrusion between the dentoskeletal classifications and growth phases were notable. Frontal protrusion significantly correlated with frontal sinus depth, especially in males, adults, Class I, and those whose convex points were located in the lower section of the forehead. Conclusions: Age, race, and sex affect the forehead protrusion and frontal sinus width. Forehead protrusion may be an indicator of dentoskeletal deformities in the early stage. And dentoskeletal deformities may impair the correlation between the frontal sinuses and forehead protrusion during development. Background: COVID-19 and the subsequent intermittent lockdown measures from 2020 to 2022 in China critically disrupted regular medical activities, including dental care. This study aimed to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on long-term follow-up at the Stomatology Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine and to evaluate potential causes of loss to follow-up. Methods: A total of 1062 patients with periodontitis who visited the hospital from January 2019 to June 2022 were included in this study, and patient information was collected retrospectively in the form of a telephone questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 19 questions in four areas: demographic characteristics, clinical periodontal parameters, oral hygiene habits, and follow-up-related open-ended questions (specific reasons for loss to follow-up, attitudes toward follow-up and suggestions for increasing participation in future follow-ups). Regression analysis of factors influencing the follow-up of patients with periodontitis were analyzed by regression analysis using R (v4.2.3) software. Results: A total of 536 (50.47%) valid questionnaires were collected from 1062 patients. Personal factors (42.5%), instead of the COVID-19 epidemic (20.0%), were the main factors that impacted the loss to follow-up in long-term periodontal treatment, while work factors (19.8%), hospital factors (16.4%), and transportation or distance factors (14.7%) were all important factors. A family history of periodontitis [odds ratio (OR) = 0.567, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.393, 0.817, p = 0.002], as well as frequent use of dental devices (OR = 0.540, 95% CI: 0.375, 0.777, p = 0.001), were significantly associated with a "negative" attitude toward follow-up visits. Conclusion: This survey suggests that the COVID-19 epidemic factor was an important cause contributed to the loss to follow-up during supportive periodontal therapy (SPT) among a variety of potential factors. Background: This retrospective multicenter study evaluated the efficacy and safety of bariatric surgery in Chinese patients with obesity. Methods: Patients with obesity who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy or laparoscopic Roux‐en‐Y gastric bypass and completed a 12‐month follow‐up between February 2011 and November 2019 were enrolled. Weight loss, glycemic and metabolic control, insulin resistance, cardiovascular risk, and surgery‐related complications at 12 months were analyzed. Results: We enrolled 356 patients aged 34.3 ± 0.6 years with a mean body mass index of 39.4 ± 0.4 kg/m2. Successful weight loss occurred in 54.6%, 86.8%, and 92.7% of patients at 3, 6, and 12 months, respectively, with no difference in percent excess weight loss between the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and laparoscopic Roux‐en‐Y gastric bypass surgery groups. The average percentage of total weight loss was 29.5% ± 0.6% at 12 months; 99.4%, 86.8%, and 43.5% of patients achieved at least 10%, 20%, and 30% weight loss, respectively, at 12 months. Significant improvements in metabolic indices, insulin resistance, and inflammation biomarkers were observed at 12 months. Conclusions: Bariatric surgery resulted in successful weight loss and improved metabolic control, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular risk in Chinese patients with obesity. Study Design. Retrospective epidemiological study. Objective. To describe differences based on biological sex in the epidemiology and treatment of the economic burden of traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) in China (2013-2018). Summary of Background Data. Although there have been many regional single-center studies on TSCI in China, there are few reports involving multicenter data, especially those that report on discrepancies related to biological sex. Materials and Methods. This study is a nationally representative hospital-based retrospective study. The treatment data of TSCI patients in 30 hospitals in 11 provinces/cities from January 2013 to December 2018 were analyzed. Sociodemographic characteristics, accident and related injury characteristics, treatment methods, and hospital costs were obtained. Regression models were used to evaluate differences in the outcomes of interest based on biological sex and other factors. Results. There were 13,465 individuals with TSCI, with a mean age of 50.0 years, and females (52.2) older than males (49.3). Overall, the average ratio of males to females was 3.1:1, ranging from 3.0:1 in 2013 to 2.8:1 in 2018. The overall proportion of patients with TSCI increased from 2013 to 2018 [annual percentage change (APC)= 6.8%, 95% CI, 3.3-10.4] (P < 0.05). The percent increase in females (APC= 8.2%, 95% CI, 5.6-10.8) was greater than that of males (APC =6.3%, 95% CI, 2.1-10.6). Overall, high-level falls mainly affected males (30.8%), and lowlevel falls mainly occurred in females (36.6%). Females demonstrated a higher frequency of thoracolumbar trauma and less severe neurological impairment. Conclusions. This study suggests that although the main population of TSCI is male, the average ratio of males to females is decreasing. The frequency of TSCI may be increasing faster in females than in males. Therefore, it is necessary to develop sexspecific public prevention measures. In addition, more medical resources should be devoted to improving the ability of hospitals to perform early surgery. Background: Colonoscopy is considered the most effective screening method for colorectal polyps. However, the longevity and complexity of the procedure makes it less desirable to screen for colorectal polyps in the general population. Therefore, it is essential to identify other independent risk factors. In this study, we explored the link between Hp infection, atrophic gastritis, and colorectal polyps to identify a new potential risk factors of colorectal polyps. Methods: In this study, atrophic gastritis and intestinal polyps were diagnosed by endoscopy and pathology. All the 792 patients in this retrospective study were divided into sub-groups based on the presence of colorectal polyps. The correlation between polyps and atrophic gastritis was analyzed using the chi-square test and Kruskal-Wallis test. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to compare the predictive value for colorectal polyps between Hp infection and atrophic gastritis. Binary logistic regression was utilized to identify independent risk factors for colorectal polyps. Results: Patients with colorectal polyps were primarily male with advanced age, and the number of patients with colorectal polyps had a higher association with smoking, alcohol drinking, and Hp infection than the control group. A positive correlation between the number of colorectal polyps and the severity of atrophic gastritis was observed. ROC analysis showed that atrophic gastritis was a better risk factors for colorectal polyps. Multivariate analysis identified atrophic gastritis as an independent risk factor for colorectal polyps (OR 2.294; 95% CI 1.597–3.296). Asthma is a common chronic airway inflammation that produces a healthcare burden on the economy. We aim to obtain a better understanding of the clinical status and disease burden of patients with asthma in China. A retrospective study was carried out based on the computerized medical records in the Jinan Health Medical Big Data Platform between 2011 and 2019 (available data from 38 hospitals). The asthma severity of each patient was assessed retrospectively and categorized as mild, moderate, or severe according to Global Initiative for Asthma 2020 (GINA 2020). The results revealed that the majority (75.0%) of patients suffered from mild asthma. Patients treated with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS)/long-acting beta-agonists (LABA) at emergency department visits had lower frequencies of exacerbations compared with non-ICS/LABA-treated patients. The incidence rates for 1, 2, 3, and 4 exacerbation of the patients treated with ICS/LABA are lower than those treated without ICS/LABA (14.49 vs. 15.01%, 11.94% vs. 19.12%, 6.51% vs. 12.92% and 4.10% vs. 9.35%). The difference got a statistical significance Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), two comorbidities related to asthma, were risk factors for asthma exacerbation. Finally, patients who suffered from exacerbations produced a heavier economic burden compared to the patients who never suffered exacerbations (mean costs are ¥ 3,339.67 vs. ¥ 968.45 separately). Background: The aim of this study was to determine the epidemiological pattern of maxillofacial fractures in northwestern China by retrospectively analysing the demographics, aetiologies, concomitant injuries, fracture sites, and management. Methods: A 10-year retrospective analysis of 2240 patients with maxillofacial fractures admitted to the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University was conducted. The extracted data included sex, age, aetiology, fracture site, concomitant injuries, time of treatment, therapeutic approaches and complications. Statistical analyses were performed, including descriptive analysis and the chi-square test. Logistic regression was used to determine the impact factors of maxillofacial fractures and concomitant injuries. P values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: The age of the included patients ranged from 1 to 85 years, and the mean age was 35.88 ± 15.69 years. The male-to-female ratio was 3.9:1. The most frequent aetiology of maxillofacial fractures was road traffic accidents (RTAs) (56.3%), and the most common fracture sites were the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus, arcus zygomaticus and mandibular body. A total of 1147 patients (51.2%) were affected by concomitant injuries, with craniocerebral injury being the most common. Logistic regression analyses revealed increased risks of mid-facial fractures in elderly individuals (odds ratio (OR) = 1.029, P < 0.001) and females (OR = 0.719, P = 0.005). Younger patients had a higher risk of mandibular fractures (OR = 0.973, P < 0.001). RTAs increased the risk for mid-facial fractures and high falls increased the risk for mandibular fractures. Conclusions: The maxillofacial fracture pattern is correlated with sex, age and aetiology. Patients were mainly young and middle-aged males, and the main cause of injury was RTAs, mostly causing compound fractures. Medical staff must be systematically educated to comprehensively examine patients with injuries resulting from RTAs. The effects of the moon on mental activities remain contentious. Few studies have investigated associations between lunar phases and different types of bipolar disorder (BD) episodes. In the current study, 7,452 patients with BD from three hospitals were enrolled. Patients were divided into two groups on the basis of episode types, and the effects of lunar phase were examined for each type. The cosinor analysis revealed moon-related rhythmicity in admissions for BD in a period of 14.75 days. There were fewer admissions around the new moon and the full moon. There was no significant difference between different groups in acrophase. There was possibly a temporal lag between the onset of BD and hospitalization. Thus, it is too early to draw firm conclusions about the impact of lunar phases on BD. Sleep might be a middle way from moon effect to admissions of BD. In China, reports on the epidemiology of adenocarcinomas of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses are limited. This study aimed to describe the experience of a single institution in China in treating these malignant tumours. We conducted a retrospective chart review of patients with adenocarcinoma of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses admitted between January 2019 and December 2021. Tumour staging was based on the American Joint Committee on Cancer, 8th edition, for sinonasal malignancies. The series included 10 men and 4 women (mean age, 54.5 [range, 14–80] years). Epistaxis and nasal obstruction were the most common clinical manifestations in 10 (71.4%) patients. Ten (71.4%) had stage T4 disease at diagnosis, but no patient had lymph node or distant metastasis. The posterosuperior septum (100.0%) and middle turbinate (92.8%) were the two sites most vulnerable to tumour invasion. All patients underwent endoscopic resection as the initial treatment; one patient died. In China, these malignancies are related to exposure to certain substances; however, diagnosis can be delayed. Background: The Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) are important evaluation tools for assessing psoriasis severity and guiding treatment options. However, the scores of PASI and DLQI are often inconsistent. Objective: This study aimed to identify the factors affecting the consistency between PASI and DLQI. Methods: The retrospective study was based on 4125 patients. We collected the PASI, DLQI, demographic and clinical characteristics data. Results: DLQI has a weak correlation with PASI (r=0.37; P< 0.001). For the DLQI > 10 groups, DLQI has almost no correlation with PASI (r=0.16; P< 0.001). There are 43.60% of mild-to-moderate patients (PASI< 10) in the DLQI> 10 groups. Our adjusted model showed that foot (OR=2.109; 95% CI:1.581– 2.815) involvement led to the greatest impairment of QoL except for PASI≥ 10 (OR=5.547; 95% CI:3.477– 8.845). Furthermore, DLQI impairment was associated with female (OR=1.336; 95% CI:1.071– 1.667); the age of 20– 39 subgroup (OR=1.795; 95% CI:1.100– 2.930); psoriatic arthritis (OR=1.718; 95% CI:1.208– 2.443); higher income (OR = 1.408; 95% CI: 1.067– 1.858); family history of psoriasis (OR=1.460; 95% CI:1.131– 1.885). Moreover, the influence of exposed lesions (such as scalp; face; neck; nails; and hands) were positively associated with severely impaired QoL. Conclusion: Dermatologists should recognize the underestimated disease burden of psoriasis patients and actively identify and treat mild-to-moderate patients with high burden. Background: Limb motor disorders after stroke are very common, and the clinical related factors of improving limb motor function are still unclear. As a part of comprehensive rehabilitation strategy, acupuncture has been widely used in rehabilitation after stroke in China. But more evidence is needed for the influence of acupuncture and some other clinical factors on post-stroke motor disorders. Patients and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted using the database of patients with post-stroke motor disorders admitted to the Neurological Rehabilitation Unit of the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The included patients were grouped according to whether NIHSS improved or muscle strength improved. The positive logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of possible NIHSS improvement. Combined with the influencing factors of NIHSS improvement and muscle strength improvement, the influencing factors of limb motor function recovery after stroke were obtained. Results: When analyzing the baseline of the included patients, it was found that patients with NIHSS improvement had earlier acupuncture intervention time (M, (IQR):13.5 (14), OR=0.716, 95% CI [0.591– 0.869], p=0.001), more cumulative acupuncture treatment times (M,(IQR):29 (12), OR=0.744, 95% CI [0.608– 0.910], p=0.004), and less hypertension history (OR=0.256, 95% CI [0.082– 0.801], p=0.019). Smoking history only has positive significance in univariate and multivariate analysis of NIHSS, not muscle strength (OR=0.274, 95% CI [0.097– 0.779], p=0.015). Conclusion: The earlier acupuncture intervention and the more cumulative acupuncture treatment times are, the more beneficial the limb function of stroke patients with motor disorders will be. The previous history of hypertension is the influencing factor of limb motor function not improving in patients with limb motor disorder after a stroke. Objective: This study aimed to explore possible associations between molecular subtypes and site of distant metastasis in advanced breast cancer (ABC). Methods: 3577 ABC patients were selected from 21 hospitals of seven geographic regions in China from 2012-2014. A questionnaire was designed to collect medical information regarding demographic characteristics, risk factors, molecular subtype, recurrence/metastasis information, and disease-free survival (DFS). The cancers were classified into Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-enriched and Triple Negative subtypes. Chi-square test and multivariate Cox proportional hazard models were performed to explore the associations between molecular subtypes and distant metastasis sites. Results: A total of 2393 cases with molecular subtypes information were finally examined. Patients with Luminal A (51.1%) and Luminal B (44.7%) were most prone to bone metastasis, whereas liver metastasis was more frequently observed in HER2-enriched ABC patients (29.1%).The cumulative recurrence and metastasis rates of ABC patients at 36 months of DFS were the most significant within molecular types, of which Triple Negative was the highest (82.7%), while that of Luminal A was the lowest (58.4%). In the adjusted Cox regression analysis, Luminal B, HER2-enriched and Triple Negative subtypes increased the risk of visceral metastasis by 23%, 46% and 87% respectively. In addition, Triple Negative patients had a higher probability of brain metastasis (HR 3.07, 95% CI: 1.04-9.07). Conclusion: Molecular subtypes can predict the preferential sites of distant metastasis, emphasizing that these associations were of great help in choices for surveillance, developing appropriate screening and cancer management strategies for follow-up and personalized therapy in ABC patients. Background and aim: In China, hepatorenal syndrome is a serious complication in the decompensated stage of hepatitis B cirrhosis, which requires early clinical intervention, so the early diagnosis of hepatorenal syndrome is crucial. This study establishes a new predictive model based on serum biomarkers for the early diagnosis of hepatorenal syndrome. Methods: Patients with decompensated hepatitis B cirrhosis who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were retrospectively enrolled. Patients were randomly assigned to the training dataset and validation dataset at a 7:3 ratio. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to screen the risk factors for hepatorenal syndrome. The identified risk factors were used to establish and verify a model. Results: This study included 255 patients with decompensated hepatitis B cirrhosis, including 184 in the training group and 71 in the validation group. The multivariate logistic regression model was established in the training group and verified in the validation group. Logistic regression showed that hemoglobin (OR 0.938, 95% CI 0.908–0.969), total bilirubin (OR 1.014, 95% CI 1.008–1.021) and creatinine (OR 1.079, 95% CI 1.043–1.117) were independent risk factors for hepatorenal syndrome (P < 0.05). These were used to establish the model. In the training group and the validation group, the area under the ROC curve of the nomogram for the diagnosis of hepatorenal syndrome was 0.968 and 0.980, respectively. Conclusion: The three serum biomarkers, including hemoglobin, total bilirubin and creatinine, can be used as independent early predictors of hepatorenal syndrome in patients with decompensated hepatitis B cirrhosis. Background: A variety of autoantibodies have been detected in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), while the presence of autoantibody clusters and their clinical significance have not been fully understood. We aimed at defining autoantibody clusters and to better understand the clinical features and prognosis of PBC patients based on autoantibody clusters under real-world conditions. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 788 inpatients with PBC evaluated between October 2008 and July 2019, and included 537 patients. Nineteen autoantibodies which were measured routinely were investigated for cluster analysis. Two-step clustering, Kaplan-Meier survival, and Cox regression analyses were used. Results: Five clusters were defined. A cluster of antinuclear antibodies (ANA) and anti-gp210 positive patients were identified with a high rate of cirrhosis at baseline and low survival rate; a cluster of ANA, anti-centromere antibodies (ACA) and/or anti-CENP-B female dominant patients with older disease onset, low level of platelet count at baseline, high rate of hepatic decompensation, and low survival rate was also characterized; and another cluster of antimitochondrial antibodies (AMA) and/or AMA-M2, anti-Ro52 and a high rate of anti-gp210 positive patients were identified with a high proportion of male patients and low survival rate. A subgroup of patients with anti-SSA and/or anti- SSB coexists with SjS was also identified; patients with only AMA and/or AMAM2- positive with a benign clinical outcome and relatively high complication of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) were also identified. Only anti-gp210 was considered as a significant predictor for poor outcomes especially in patients with cirrhosis. Conclusion: Clustering methods allow the identification of distinct autoantibody profiles of PBC that form clinical subsets and can be useful for personalized approaches to diagnosis, clinical management, and the prediction of clinical outcomes. Purpose: Previous studies have shown that metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) and changes in its status are connected to an increased incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Yet, fewer studies have been conducted in China, especially for the middle-aged and elderly population, a high-risk group. The purpose of the study was to investigate the association between metabolic health status and CVD events. Patients and Methods: A total of 46,055 participants were categorized into 6 subgroups with different metabolic states according to the existence of metabolic syndrome and body mass index (BMI). The changes in obesity and metabolic health status were defined from baseline to follow-up outcomes with a combination of overweight and obesity. Cox proportional hazards models estimated the association of CVD events and each BMI–metabolic groups. Results: MHO and metabolic abnormality normal weight (MANW) subjects had a higher HR of CVD, 1.62 (95% CI, 1.36– 1.92) and 1.24 (95% CI, 1.07– 1.44), respectively, than their metabolically healthy normal weight (MHNW) counterparts. Then, more than 50% and 30% of the metabolically healthy overweight or obesity (MHOO) populations maintained their status and converted to a metabolically unhealthy state, respectively. Stable MANW, MHOO and metabolically abnormal obesity (MAO) were associated with a higher risk for CVD, 1.68 (95% CI, 1.37– 2.05),1.26 (95% CI, 1.08– 1.47) and 1.65 (95% CI, 1.45– 1.88), respectively, than stable MHNW. Conclusion: Despite being of normal weight, MANW status is in fact a risk factor for CVD, as well as MHO, especially for the Chinese middle-aged and elderly population. Furthermore, metabolic health is a transient state for partial middle-aged and elderly Chinese individuals, and MAO has the highest risk of CVD, including coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke. Purpose: Nosocomial infection (NI) is associated with poor prognosis. The present study assessed the clinical and microbiological characteristics of NI patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) and investigated the clinical impact and risk factors for NI in ICU patients. Patients and Methods: An observational study was conducted in an adult general ICU. The electronic medical records of all patients admitted to the ICU for > 2 days from 2018– 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. Multivariate regression models were used to analyze the risk factors for NI in ICU patients. Propensity score-matching (PSM) was used to control the confounding factors between the case and control groups, thus analyzing the clinical impact of NIs. Results: The present study included 2425 patient admissions, of which 231 (9.53%) had NI. Acinetobacter baumannii (33.0%) was the most common bacteria. Long-term immunosuppressive therapy, disturbance of consciousness, blood transfusion, multiple organ dysfunction syndromes (MODS), treatment with three or more antibiotics, mechanical ventilation (MV), tracheotomy, the urinary catheter (UC), nasogastric catheter, and central venous catheter (CVC) were risk factors for NI in the ICU patients. After PSM, patients with NI had a prolonged length of stay (LOS) in the ICU and hospital, significant hospitalization expenses (all p< 0.001), increased mortality (p=0.027), and predicted mortality (p=0.007). The differences in the ICU and hospital LOSs among three pathogens were statistically significant (p< 0.001); the results of the Escherichia coli infection group were lower than the other two pathogenic groups. Background and aims: The role of serum lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels in atrial fibrillation (AF) is still uncertain, especially in the Chinese population. Here, we aimed to elucidate the potential relationship between Lp(a) quantiles and AF. Methods: All data were collected through inpatients with electronic health records from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, Jiangxi Province, China. The propensity score matching (PSM) method was used to match control and case groups. Interactions between AF, Lp(a) quantiles, and other clinical indices were analyzed by logistic regression and stratified analysis. Statistical analyses were performed with IBM SPSS statistical software and R software. Results: From 2017 to 2021, 4,511 patients with AF and 9,022 patients without AF were 1:2 matched by the propensity score matching method. A total of 46.9% of the study group was women, and the baseline mean age was 65 years. The AF group exhibited lower median Lp(a) than the non-AF group (15.95 vs. 16.90 mg/dL; P < 0.001). Based on the Lp(a) quantiles, the study population was divided into four groups: Q1 (≤ 8.71 mg/dL), Q2 (8.71–16.54 mg/dL), Q3 (16.54–32.42 mg/dL) and Q4 (> 32.42 mg/dL). The AF prevalence of each group decreased from 34.2% (Q1) to 30.9% (Q4) (P < 0.001). Lp(a) quantiles 1–3 significantly increased AF to 1.162-fold (1.049–1.286), 1.198-fold (1.083–1.327), and 1.111-fold (1.003–1.231) in the unadjusted logistic regression model, respectively. In the adjusted model, Lp(a) < 32.42 mg/dL still showed a significant inverse association with AF. In the stratified analysis, Lp(a) levels in female patients exhibited a significant negative correlation with AF (OR of Q1: 1.394[1.194–1.626], P = 0.001). Age and hypertension did not affect the adverse correlation. Conclusion: Low circulating Lp(a) levels were associated with AF, especially in the female Han population, suggesting that Lp(a) may be useful for risk stratification of AF in female individuals. Background: Septic shock has increasingly become a cause of death threatening human survival. Shenfu Injection (SFI), a patented Chinese medicine, has been widely used in the treatment of patients with sepsis and cardiovascular diseases domestically. We sought to examine whether combination therapy with SFI can improve clinical outcomes in critically ill patients undergoing mechanical ventilation (MV). Methods: This real-world, multicenter retrospective trial enrolled consecutive adult patients with sepsis requiring MV from four medical/surgical intensive care units (ICUs) in China between August 2016 and September 2021. Patients were identified from the medical information department database of each center and assigned to either of two groups (SFI or control) on the basis of the initial treatment received. The primary outcome was 28-day all-cause mortality, and the durations of vasopressor therapy and MV, the ICU length of stay, and costs were assessed as secondary outcomes. Subsequently, we performed a metaanalysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on SFI published before July 2021 to verify our conclusions. Results: 2311 mechanically ventilated patients with septic shock (1128 patients in the SFI group and 1183 in the control group) were analyzed. The survival probability during the first 28 days after admission in the SFI group was greater than that in the control group [p < 0.01 by log-rank test; hazard ratio (HR), 0.56; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.39-0.72]. Purpose: The appropriate management of spinal tuberculosis (TB) is challenging for clinicians and the key to treat spinal TB. Surgery and long course anti-TB chemotherapy may not be necessary to all situations. This study aimed to characterize the clinical features and factors affecting treatment outcomes. Patients and Methods: A retrospective study of patients with spinal TB over a 5-year period at a teaching hospital in central China was conducted. Features of patients with spinal TB who received different treatment modalities and factors associated with patient outcomes at the end of chemotherapy were analyzed. Results: Forty-five patients (21 men and 24 women) with spinal TB were available for analysis. The mean age was 55.39 ± 14.94 years. The most common vertebral area involved was the lumbar (42.2%). The mean number of vertebrae involved was 2.20 ± 0.59. 27 patients (60.0%) received surgical treatment, of which 21 (77.8%) received radical surgical treatment. Thirty-five patients (77.8%) had achieved a favorable status. Statistically, there was no significant correlation between favorable status and surgery, but among 27 surgical patients with spinal tuberculosis, patients receiving radical surgery tended to achieve good prognosis (P = 0.010; odds ratio = 0.053; 95% confidence interval 0.006– 0.493). Moreover, there was no significant difference between long course and short course of anti-TB chemotherapy in prognosis in different treatment modalities. Conclusion: Although the patients with spinal TB who needed surgical treatment often got a better prognosis when they had radical surgery, surgery was not actually a factor for the favorable outcomes of patients with spinal TB. Background: Palbociclib is the most widely used cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitor in China, but its early application efficacy on Chinese metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients was reported deficiently. Methods: Between February 2019 to December 2021, 95 female hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 negative (HER2−) patients with MBC received palbociclib combined with AI or fulvestrant were retrospectively analyzed in our center. The primary outcome was progression-free survival (PFS). The objective response rate and clinical benefit rate (CBR) were evaluated. Results: The median follow-up period was 15 months (range from 2 to 37). Palbociclib performed superiorly when applicated in first-and-second line therapy than in later lines (P =.002). Palbociclib combined with AI or fulvestrant had a median PFS of 34 months (95% confidence interval [CI] = 6.87-61.13) and 12 months (95%CI = 7.76-16.24), respectively. Univariate subgroup analysis showed that the previous history of salvage chemotherapy (P =.015) and the presence of liver metastases (P <.001) significantly affected the efficacy of palbociclib. Despite the existence of liver metastases and primary endocrine resistance, which are two independent predictors of poor prognosis, early application of palbociclib in advanced stage can bring further benefits to these two groups of patients, rather than choosing salvage chemotherapy in the first place. Conclusion: Palbociclib combined with endocrine therapy has a favorable efficacy and acceptable toxicity in HR+/HER2− Chinese MBC patients. Treatment for relapsed/refractory Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma (R/R DLBCL) is evolving rapidly due to the emergence of novel drugs, of which histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACis) are an important example. This study showed efficacy in patients with R/R DLBCL after failure of conventional therapies. We conducted a single‐center, retrospective study of 34 frail or elderly R/R DLBCL patients who had been treated off‐label with chidamide‐containing regimens from 2018 to 2020. X2 or Fisher test were used to compare response rate and Kaplan‐Meier method was used to perform the survival analyses which compared with log‐rank test between different groups. The test standard was p < 0.05. In total, 34 patients with R/R DLBCL received CPEL+/‐R for at least 1 cycle were included. Most of them were refractory patients (n = 28,82.4%). The interim objective response rate (ORR) was 73.5% (32.4% complete remission [CR]), and the ultimate ORR was 50.0% (35.3% CR). After a median follow‐up of 13.1 months, the median progression‐free survival (PFS) was 10.5 months (95%CI 6.4–14.6) and the median overall survival (OS) was 19.3 months (95%CI 11.8–26.9). The 1 year expected PFS and OS rate was 43.0% and 73.7%, respectively. The most common grade 3/4 hematologic adverse events (AEs) were neutropenia (n = 11,32.3%) and anemia (n = 4, 11.8%) 0.23.5% (8/34) of all patients experienced grade 3/4 nonhematologic AEs. No treatment‐related deaths were observed. The study showed chidamide‐included regimen could be an option for R/R DLBCL patients ineligible for intensive chemotherapies. Objectives To explore clinical features of autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic disease (AIRD) patients with Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) and identify potential risk factors and prognostic factors. Methods AIRD patients who had respiratory symptoms and underwent P. jirovecii detection were identified from the database in our department from November 2018 to October 2020. These patients were categorized into PJP and non-PJP groups according to the diagnostic criteria of PJP. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted. Results A total of 173 patients were enrolled and 46 of them had laboratory-confirmed PJP. Glucocorticoid increased the risk of PJP in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, shorter duration of immunosuppressive therapy (IST), combination therapy with CSA and chronic pulmonary comorbidities were also strongly associated with a higher risk of PJP. Combination of IgM and IgA could well identify AIRD patients with PJP from other AIRD patients with respiratory symptoms, with the optimal cut-off value of −0.96 g/l. Seven of 46 AIRD patients with PJP died (15.2%). A higher level of serum LDH, dyspnoea and ARDS, and the presence of extensive ground glass opacity (GGO) in radiologic examinations were more common in deceased patients. Conclusions AIRD patients with high-dose glucocorticoid treatment, recent initiation of IST, combination therapy with CSA and history of chronic pulmonary diseases had a greater risk of PJP infection. PJP patients with a higher level of serum LDH, dyspnoea, moderate and severe ARDS, and the presence of extensive GGO in radiologic examinations had poorer prognosis. Preterm birth is the leading cause of perinatal mortality and morbidity. Some prospective cohort studies suggested that fish and shellfish consumption may affect the incidence of preterm birth. However, conflicting evidence exists on the relationship between fish and shellfish consumption and preterm birth. A total of 10 179 women from Gansu province were interviewed after delivery to collect information on their past intake of fish and shellfish using FFQ. Logistic regression models were used to estimate OR and 95 % CI to examine the association between fish and shellfish consumption and preterm birth and its clinical subtypes. Fish and shellfish consumption was associated with reduced risk of preterm birth (OR = 0·65, 95 % CI 0·56, 0·77). Increasing frequency of fish and shellfish consumption, compared with no fish and shellfish consumption, was associated with decreasing odds of preterm birth. Besides, increasing weekly total amount of fish and shellfish consumption, compared with no fish and shellfish consumption, was also associated with decreasing odds of preterm birth. Significant trend effect was also seen between fish and shellfish consumption and very preterm birth (Pfor trend = 0·001) and spontaneous preterm birth (Pfor trend = 0·003). Interaction was observed between total fish and shellfish consumption with maternal age (Pfor interaction = 0·041) and pre-pregnancy BMI underweight (Pfor interaction = 0·012). Our findings showed that maternal fish and shellfish consumption was associated with lower incidence of preterm birth.We recommend for the national guideline of ≥350 g/week of fish and shellfish consumption among pregnant women. To describe the pattern and population characteristics of pediatric and adolescent gynecologic (PAG) problems in China A clinic-based retrospective study of gynecologic patients (aged 0-18 years) over a period of 13 years Department of PAG in the Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine The final analyses included 97,252 patients with gynecologic problems. The disease pattern varied across age groups; the most common problems were genital inflammation for age 0-6 years, genital inflammation and precocious puberty for age 7-9 years, and consultation, genital inflammation, and menstrual disorders for age 10-18 years. Overall, genital inflammation, precocious puberty, consultation, and menstrual disorders were common issues for pediatric and adolescent patients with gynecologic problems in China. Objectives: Colistin sulphate for injection (CSI) became clinically available in China in July 2019. To date, there is no published data regarding its usage in children. Our research group has been following data on the efficacy and safety of CSI in Chinese paediatric patients with carbapenem-resistant organism infections. The purpose of this short communication is to provide a brief overview of the findings to date., Methods: We reviewed the electronic medical records of paediatric patients (aged 9-17 y) who were administered CSI during their hospital stay at Tongji Hospital in Wuhan, China, between June 2021 and November 2023. Drug efficacy was evaluated based on clinical and microbiological outcomes, while drug safety was assessed using surveillance markers that reflect adverse reactions., Results: A total of 20 patients met the inclusion criteria. The predominant pathogens were Klebsiella pneumoniae (8 strains), followed by Acinetobacter baumannii (5 strains) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (2 strains). The clinical response rate of CSI was 85%, with a bacterial clearance rate of 79%. None of the patients experienced colistin-related nephrotoxicity or neurotoxicity during the treatment., Conclusions: In this real-world setting, CSI demonstrated a high level of clinical response and was well tolerated for the treatment of carbapenem-resistant organism infections in Chinese children., (Copyright © 2024 The Author(s). Objective: Serum lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is a risk factor of cardiovascular diseases. However, the relationship between the serum Lp(a) and clinical outcomes has been seldom studied in Chinese hospitalized patients with cardiovascular diseases., Methods: We retrospectively collected the clinical data of hospitalized patients with cardiovascular diseases in the Cardiovascular Department of Dongguan People's Hospital from 2016 to 2021 through the electronic case system. Patients were divided into 4 groups based on Lp(a) quartiles: Quartile1 (≤ 80.00 mg/L), Quartile 2 (80.01 ~ 160.90 mg/L), Quartile 3 (160.91 ~ 336.41 mg/L), Quartile 4 (> 336.41 mg/L). Cox proportional hazard regression models were constructed to examine the relationship between Lp(a) and cardiovascular events., Results: A total of 8382 patients were included in this study. After an average follow-up of 619 (320 to 1061) days, 1361 (16.2%) patients developed major adverse cardiovascular events, and 125 (1.5%) all-cause death were collected. The incidence of MACEs was 7.65, 8.24, 9.73 and 10.75 per 100 person-years in each Lp(a) quartile, respectively; the all-cause mortality was 0.48, 0.69, 0.64 and 1.18 per 100 person-years in each Lp(a) quartile, respectively. The multivariate Cox regression analysis suggested that high Lp(a) level was an independent risk factor for MACEs (HR: 1.189, [95% CI: 1.045 to 1.353], P = 0.030) and all-cause death (HR: 1.573, [95% CI: 1.009 to 2.452], P = 0.046)., Conclusion: In addition to traditional lipid indicators, higher Lp(a) exhibited higher risks of adverse cardiovascular events and death, indicated worse prognosis. Background: The evidence on the association of fine particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 μm or less (PM2.5) with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) retreatment is limited. There are no data on whether greenness exposure protects air pollution-related PTB retreatment in patients with prior PTB., Objective: In a population-based retrospective study, we aimed to investigate the influence of PM2.5 and residential greenness on the risk of PTB retreatment., Methods: A total of 26,482 patients with incident PTB, registered in a mandatory web-based reporting system between 2012 and 2019 in Zhengzhou, China, were included in the analysis. The exposure to PM2.5 was assessed based on the China High Air Pollutants dataset, and the level of greenness was estimated using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) values. The associations of PTB retreatment with exposure to PM2.5 and greenness were evaluated, respectively, considering the local socioeconomic level indicated by the nighttime light index., Results: Among the 26,482 patients (mean age 46.86, SD 19.52 years) with a median follow-up time of 1523 days per patient, 1542 (5.82%) PTB retreatments were observed between 2012 and 2019. Exposure to PM2.5 was observed to be significantly associated with the increased risk of PTB retreatment in fully adjusted models with a hazard ratio of 1.97 (95% CI 1.34-2.83) per 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5. Patients living in the regions with relatively high quartiles of NDVI values had a 45% lower risk of PTB retreatment than those living in the regions with the lowest quartile for the 500 m buffers (hazard ratio 0.55, 95% CI 0.40-0.77). Such a protective effect of residential greenness was more pronounced among patients living in lower nighttime light areas. The strength of the association between PM2.5 exposure and the risk of PTB retreatment was attenuated by greenness. No significant association was observed between NDVI and the incidence of drug resistance., Conclusions: Long-term exposure to PM2.5 might be a risk factor for PTB retreatment, while an increased level of residential greenness was found to be associated with reduced risks of PTB retreatment. Purpose: Preeclampsia affects between 2 to 8% of pregnancies worldwide and is associated with significant adverse outcomes for both mothers and their offspring. The present study aims to investigate whether there is a correlation between early age at menarche and an increased risk of developing preeclampsia and experiencing adverse neonatal outcomes., Methods: The study involved a review of medical records of 4227 pregnant women who gave birth at The First Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College between January 2017 and December 2022. The collected data included demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations of preeclampsia, laboratory indicators, gestational complications, and neonatal outcomes. Pregnant women were categorized into four groups based on their age at menarche (≤ 12, 13, 14, and ≥ 15 years). Logistic regression analysis was conducted to calculate the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the association between different menarche age groups and the risk of preeclampsia and adverse neonatal outcomes., Results: Pregnant women who had an age at menarche of ≤ 12 years had a higher risk of preeclampsia than women who had their menarche at 13, 14, and ≥ 15 years of age, with adjusted ORs (95% CIs) for preeclampsia of 1.00 (reference), 0.78 (0.45-0.91), 0.76 (0.59-0.88), and 0.73 (0.56-0.94), respectively. The predictive efficacy of age at menarche for preeclampsia was assessed with a sensitivity and specificity of 85.2% and 76.4%, respectively, and an AUC of 0.82. Moreover, infants born to women with an age at menarche of ≤ 12 years had a higher risk of adverse neonatal outcomes, including small for gestational age, preterm birth, low birth weight, neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, and neonatal intensive care unit admission., Conclusion: Our findings suggest that an early age at menarche is associated with an increased risk of preeclampsia and adverse neonatal outcomes. Purpose: To investigate the etiology, pathogens, treatment, and prognosis of endogenous endophthalmitis (EE)., Methods: Patients diagnosed with EE over three decades at Peking Union Medical College Hospital were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed., Results: A total of 97 eyes from 81 patients were included. Diabetes was the most common predisposing medical condition (34.6%). Klebsiella pneumoniae (31.3%) and Candida albicans (32.8%) were the most common pathogens. Liver abscess (20.6%) was the predominant cause EE due to liver abscess had a worse initial visual acuity ( P  < 0.05). Patients who initially underwent pars plana vitrectomy (PPV)+silicone oil tamponade underwent fewer total treatments ( P  < 0.05). In the past 10 years, the proportion of Gram-positive cocci, Gram-negative bacilli, and Candida showed an upward trend. Over the past 15 years, EE after liver abscess and immunosuppression has increased, while EE from genitourinary systems has decreased., Conclusion: EE was a devastating intraocular disease with a poor visual prognosis. The initial condition and prognosis of EE after liver abscess were the worst. PPV+silicone oil tamponade as an initial treatment may reduce additional therapy.

Objective: Severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCARs) are rare but life-threatening, with antibiotics being the main cause. This retrospective study from a single center was designed to analyze the culprit drugs, clinical features and treatment outcomes of antibiotic-induced SCARs., Methods: We analyzed cases of antibiotic-induced SCARs in a tertiary hospital in China between January 2013 and January 2024, including Steven-Johnson syndrome (SJS) or Stevens-Johnson syndrome-toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS-TEN) overlap, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP). Descriptive analysis of the demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations, treatment and prognosis were carried out., Results: Among 354 cases of SCARs, 63 validated antibiotic-related cases were included. Cephalosporins (31.7%), penicillins (25.4%), and quinolones (19.0%) were the most common triggers for SCARs. Overall, liver (50.8%), lungs (31.7%), and kidneys (23.8%) were the most frequently affected organ in SCARs cases. Eight patients (28.6%) in the SJS/SJS-TEN overlap group and 8 patients (80.0%) in the TEN group received combination therapy of corticosteroids and IVIG. Patients with SCARs caused by penicillins or cephalosporins could receive alternative treatments such as lincomamides, quinolones, and tetracyclines. The mortality rate in the TEN group was the highest at 20.0%, followed by the SJS/SJS-TEN overlap group (7.1%), and no deaths were observed in the DRESS and AGEP groups., Conclusion: The identification of the culprit antibiotics and the application of alternative antibiotic therapies are crucial for the management of antibiotic-induced SCARs. Background: Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is a common complication in septic patients with a higher ICU and hospital mortality in adults and poorer long-term outcomes. Clinical presentation may range from mild confusion to convulsions and deep coma; however, little is known about SAE in children. We aimed to retrospectively analyze the data for children with sepsis, to illustrate the epidemiology, performance, and adverse outcome, and to evaluate the association between risk factors and SAE in children. Methods: All children with sepsis who were admitted to the Department of Pediatrics, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China from January 2010 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: A total of 210 patients with sepsis were retrospectively assigned to the SAE and non-SAE groups, of which 91 (43.33%) were diagnosed with SAE with a mortality of 6.70% (14/210). Significant differences were observed in the level of white blood platelet, platelets, international normalized ratio, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, total protein, Ccr, UREA, blood urea nitrogen, alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, creatine kinase, creatine kinase isoenzymes, lactate dehydrogenase, procalcitonin, and lactic acid (p < 0.05). In the risk assessment scales, significant differences were observed in the modified Glasgow Coma score, PCIS, Pediatric Logistic Organ Dysfunction Score 2 (PELOD-2), Pediatric Sequential Organ Failure Assessment Score, and Pediatric Risk of Mortality III (p < 0.05). The incidence of septic shock, acute kidney disease, liver dysfunction, and coagulation disorder were higher in the SAE group (p < 0.05). The mechanical ventilation time ([6.57 d ± 16.86 d] vs. [2.05 d ± 5.79 d]; p < 0.001), CRRT time ([1.74 d ± 6.77 d] vs. [0.11 d ± 0.63 d]; p < 0.001), ICU stay time ([299.90 h ± 449.50 h] vs. [177.67 h ± 245.36 h]); p < 0.001 was longer than that of non-SAE. Both the PCT, Ca2+, septic shock, PELOD-2, and midazolam were identified as independent risk factors, and fentanyl was a protective factor for SAE in pediatric patients (p < 0.05). The main clinical neurological symptoms consisted of agitation, hypnosia, hypnosis alternates agitated, anterior fontanelle full/bulging/high tension, coma, muscle hypertonia, muscle hypotonia, hyperreflexia, focal seizure, and generalized seizure. Conclusions: The incidence of SAE in children was found high and the prognosis poor. In this retrospective study, the identified patients were more susceptible to SAE, with an inflammatory storm with hypocalcemia or septic shock. The use of midazolam will increase the occurrence of SAE, whereas fentanyl will reduce the incidence of SAE, and PELOD-2 may predict the occurrence of SAE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy has been consistently associated with a higher incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Previous studies mainly focused on the effects of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy on pregnant mothers and fetuses, and few studies reported the postpartum growth and development of fetuses in pregnant women with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. The aim of this study was to investigate impact of maternal serum total bile acid levels on maternal and neonatal outcomes as well as child growth and food allergy.Material and Methods: A retrospective longitudinal cohort investigation was carried out among 751 pregnant women with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy at 30-32 weeks of gestation from the Longitudinal Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy Study (LoICPS). Data on the characteristics of the mothers and neonates were collected. Infant growth data and food sensitivities were also collected.Results: In our cohort, the average maternal serum total bile acid level was 35.09±30.02 μmol/L, with 58.8% of mothers suffering from mild intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy and 29.2% suffering from severe intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. Positive correlations were found between maternal serum total bile acid levels and twin pregnancy (beta-value: 11.55, 95% CI: 2.89 - 20.20. P = 0.009) and meconium stained amniotic fluid (beta-value: 14.64, 95% CI: 9.41 - 19.87. P < 0.001). In addition, the infants of mothers with severe intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy were more likely to be allergic to foods at 6 months.Conclusions: This study suggested that despite pregnant women with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy taking ursodeoxycholic acid tablets and cesarean section before expected date of childbirth, the perinatal outcome of newborns partially improving, the incidence of infantile food allergy was still increased. Background: Following initiation of China's National Malaria Elimination Action Plan (NMEAP) in 2010, the '1-3-7' approach was developed and rolled out in China to facilitate the malaria elimination programme and accelerate malaria elimination. This study aims to summarize and condense these experiences through a retrospective analysis in Jiangsu Province, which could be adapted and applied in other malaria elimination settings worldwide. Methods: A retrospective analysis of imported malaria cases into China identified through an improved surveillance and response system in Jiangsu Province was carried out for the period of 2001–2020. To improve the malaria surveillance and response system, Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention from the prefectures and counties in Jiangsu province conducted population-level health education to improve healthcare seeking behavior, strengthened capacity of health facilities to improve performance of malaria diagnosis and treatment, and raised the capacity of public health providers to improve implementation of the '1-3-7' approach. Categorical variables were carried out by Chi square tests with Fisher's exact correction. Results: From 2001 to 2020, a total of 9,879 malaria cases were reported in Jiangsu Province. Since 2012, no indigenous malaria cases have been reported in Jiangsu Province. However, in recent years, there has been a substantial increase of imported falciparum malaria cases. Between 2012 and 2020, an estimated 61.57 million individuals have benefited from population-level health education in Jiangsu Province. For healthcare-seeking services among the 2,423 imported malaria cases, 687 (28.4%) and 1,104 (45.6%) cases visited hospitals on the first day and the second day from symptom onset, respectively. A total of 1,502 (61.9%) cases were diagnosed on the first day at medical facilities. Jiangsu Province achieved 100%, 99.4% and 98.3% completion rate in terms of case detection and notification (within one day), case investigation (within three days) and foci response and disposition (within seven days), respectively. The improved surveillance and response system in Jiangsu Province plays an important role in preventing the re-introduction of malaria and maintaining the malaria-free status. Conclusions: Jiangsu Province has maintained its malaria-free status since 2012. The continuous improvement of a surveillance and response system plays an important role in the early detection and rapid response of potential malaria-related outbreaks in Jiangsu, China, and has important lessons for other malaria eliminating settings. Remaining vigilant in the detection of imported malaria cases and maintaining an active surveillance and response system is critical to sustain the success of malaria elimination. Background: We aimed to report pregnancy outcomes of women with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in China, on which data were sparse. Methods: This is a nationwide retrospective study conducted in 11 general medical centers in 8 cities across China. We investigated the clinical data of all women who attended these centers with a singleton pregnancy and whose pregnancy ended between 1 January 2004 and 31 December 2014. Pregnancies of women with pregestational T1D were ascertained and compared with those of women without T1D. Results: From over 300 000 pregnancies over the 11‐year study period, we identified 265 singleton pregnancies of women with T1D. One maternal death was documented among 265 (0.37%) women with T1D and 83 among 318 486 (0.03%) women without T1D. Women with T1D suffered from higher rates of pregnancy loss (13.21% vs 2.92%, crude risk ratio [cRR] 5.08 [95% CI, 3.56‐7.26]) and preeclampsia (17.74% vs 4.20%, cRR 4.94 [95% CI, 3.60‐6.77]) compared with those without T1D. Infants of these women with T1D had elevated rates of neonatal death (5.65% vs 0.16%, cRR 37.36 [95% CI, 21.21‐65.82]) and congenital malformation(s) (8.26% vs 3.53%, cRR 2.46 [95% CI, 1.54‐3.93]) compared with those of women without T1D. No significant improvement in pregnancy outcomes in women with T1D was observed over the period 2004 to 2014. Conclusions: Pregnancy outcomes were persistently poor in women with T1D during 2004 to 2014 in China. Objective: To examine the prevalence and factors associated with early resumption of sexual intercourse among postnatal women in China. Method: We conducted a retrospective multicenter study of 15 834 postpartum women from 60 hospitals in 15 different locations across China. Data were obtained from questionnaires administered to the participants. All dates were analyzed using a one‐way ANOVA and two‐level Cox multiple linear regression models. Results: More than half of the participating women (55.9%) resumed sexual intercourse by 3 months postpartum. The independent variables associated with the postpartum resumption of sexual intercourse included sociodemographic characteristics (age, geographic location, educational attainment) and medical histories, including the previous abortion (incorporate with spontaneous and voluntary abortion) frequency, menstrual recovery, exclusive breastfeeding, and number of living children (p < 0.05). Conclusion: More than half of the women in this study resumed sexual intercourse within 3 months postpartum. Women with a lower educational attainment and from the western regions of China were more likely to resume sexual intercourse earlier. Increasing age, delayed recovery of menses, and exclusive breastfeeding were associated with a delayed resumption of sexual intercourse. Women who had greater experience with abortion or the number of living children resumed sexual intercourse earlier than their counterparts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Maternal and child health (MCH)-related mobile apps are becoming increasingly popular among pregnant women; however, few apps have demonstrated that they lead to improvements in pregnancy outcomes. Objective: This study aims to investigate the use of MCH apps among pregnant women in China and explore associations with pregnancy outcomes. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at 6 MCH hospitals in northern China. Women who delivered a singleton baby at >28 weeks' gestation at the study hospitals were sequentially recruited from postnatal wards from October 2017 to January 2018. Information was collected on the women's self-reported MCH app use during their pregnancy, along with clinical outcomes. Women were categorized as nonusers of MCH apps and users (further divided into intermittent users and continuous users). The primary outcome was a composite adverse pregnancy outcome (CAPO) comprising preterm birth, birth weight <2500 g, birth defects, stillbirth, and neonatal asphyxia. The association between app use and CAPO was explored using multivariable logistic analysis. Results: The 1850 participants reported using 127 different MCH apps during pregnancy. App use frequency was reported as never, 24.7% (457/1850); intermittent, 47.4% (876/1850); and continuous, 27.9% (517/1850). Among app users, the most common reasons for app use were health education (1393/1393, 100%), self-monitoring (755/1393, 54.2%), and antenatal appointment reminders (602/1393, 43.2%). Nonusers were older, with fewer years of education, lower incomes, and higher parity (P<.01). No association was found between any app use and CAPO (6.8% in nonusers compared with 6.3% in any app users; odds ratio 0.77, 95% CI 0.48-1.25). Conclusions: Women in China access a large number of different MCH apps, with social disparities in access and frequency of use. Any app use was not found to be associated with improved pregnancy outcomes, highlighting the need for rigorous development and testing of apps before recommendation for use in clinical settings. Background: This study aims to describe the association between sharp score and clinical indexes, bone metabolism indexes, Disease Activity Score (DAS28) and sociodemographic factors in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Methods: Data were collected from the HIS (hospital information system), a national inpatient database in China, with information on the patients hospitalized during the period from 2012 to 2019. The association between sharp score and effective factors were identified using multinomial logistic regression and association rule mining (ARM).Results: Three thousand eight hundred and forty patients were included: 82.66% males, 17.34% females, mean (SD) age 56.95 (12.68) years and symptom duration 3.45 (1.09) years. Spearman correlation analysis and Association rules analysis showed that there were significant positive correlations between sharp score and effective factors. Logistic regression analysis presented that erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP), rheumatoid factor (RF) were risk factors of sharp score. In the analysis of individual outcomes, sex, age, symptom duration, DSA28 score, RF, ever drinker, and radiographic grading of hands were influence factors of sharp score.Conclusion: Sharp score should be taken into consideration in formulating treatment strategies in RA. Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a common life-threatening disease in very low birth-weight (VLBW) infants. Probiotic prophylaxis is often used in the VLBW infants as a protective factor. Objectives: This retrospective study assessed risk factors of NEC and observed the effect of probiotic prophylaxis duration on NEC. Methods: The study encompassed 237 VLBW neonates admitted to the NICU of the First Affiliated Hospital of the Anhui Medical University, Anhui Province, who received probiotic prophylaxis. In this study, the participants' clinical characteristics, treatments, and outcomes were compared between the NEC (n = 19) and non-NEC (n = 218) groups. Moreover, factors associated with NEC were analyzed by logistic regression, and the probiotic prophylaxis duration was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Results: As the analysis revealed, 19 (8.02%) neonates were suffering from NEC. The probiotic prophylaxis duration (OR = 0.693, 95% CI = 0.574 - 0.836) was associated with the risk of NEC after adjusting for gestational age, duration of empirical antibiotic use, RBC transfusion, and late-onset sepsis. For the probiotic prophylaxis duration, the areas under curve was 0.870, the ideal cutoff was 10.5 days, and the sensitivity and specificity were 0.844 and 0.895, respectively. Conclusions: Probiotic prophylaxis was associated with the decreased risk of NEC. Objective: Despite the established success of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with end-stage osteoarthritis, there is a notable scarcity of research on its long-term outcomes in individuals suffering from end-stage Kashin-Beck disease (KBD). This retrospective study aimed to assess the long-term outcomes and effectiveness of clinical function, quality of life, and complications of TKA and end-stage KBD patients in Tibetan highland areas., Methods: The retrospective cohort included 43 KBD patients, comprising a total of 59 knees, who had undergone TKA at West China Hospital, Sichuan University between 2008 and 2021. Patients were subsequently followed up for a minimum of 3 years, and received rigorous radiological and clinical assessments at 3, 6, and 12 months post surgery, followed by annual examinations thereafter. The evaluation included various efficacy indices, including visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, hospital for special surgery (HSS) scores, functional score for adult Tibetans with Kashin-Beck disease (FSAT-KBD), and radiographic findings. Comparison of indicators within the same group was conducted using one-way repeated-measures analysis of variance or paired sample t-tests, whereas between-group differences were compared using an independent t-test., Results: Throughout the average follow-up duration of 10.8 years, patients experienced a substantial reduction in knee pain and noteworthy functional improvement. The VAS scores decreased significantly from 77.47 ± 4.12 mm before surgery to 10.91 ± 1.97 mm after surgery, indicating considerable alleviation of knee pain. The HSS scores improved markedly, increasing from 44.26 ± 4.95 preoperatively to 91.26 ± 4.37, indicating enhanced joint function. Similarly, the FSAT-KBD exhibited positive progression, increasing from 25.90 ± 3.12 to 36.95 ± 3.54. Importantly, at the last follow-up, none of the patients presented with periprosthetic infection, prosthesis loosening, or periprosthetic fracture., Conclusion: At long-term follow-up, compared with patients in the preoperative period, patients in Tibetan highland areas with KBD of the knee who underwent TKA benefited from a significant reduction in pain, improvement in joint function, and satisfactory improvement in quality of life., (© 2024 The Authors. Background: This study aimed to assess the clinical epidemiological characteristics of children with electrical injuries and discuss the countermeasures for the prevention of electrical injuries in children., Methods: The children with electrical injuries were grouped according to whether or not they were admitted to the hospital for treatment into inpatient and outpatient groups. Clinical data such as gender, causes of injury and injury-causing voltage distribution in different age groups were analyzed. The factors affecting hospitalization were subjected to χ2 test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, and logistic regression analysis., Results: A total of 321 children were included with 37 divided into inpatient group and 284 divided into outpatient group. The incidence of electrical injuries was highest in children ≤6 years old and in the summer. There were significantly different in gender, place of occurrence, cause of injury and injury-causing voltage between the two groups (p < 0.05). Injury-causing voltage is an independent risk factor affecting hospitalization of children with electrical injuries (OR = 0.116, 95 %CI = 0.040-0.334, p = 0.000). In children ≤6 years old, boys suffered electrical injuries more frequently than girls; battery powered vehicle (47.53 %) was primarily the cause of injury; most of the patients (64.64 %) were exposed to low voltage below 100 Vs, mainly in the case of adolescent children., Conclusion: Male preschoolers accounted for the majority of electrical injury cases, and these accidents mostly happened in household electrical appliances and household battery cars. Objective: Gallstone disease (GSD) is one of the common digestive tract diseases with a high worldwide prevalence. The effects of GSD on patients include but are not limited to the symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and biliary colic directly caused by GSD. In addition, there is mounting evidence from cohort studies connecting GSD to other conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, biliary tract cancer, and colorectal cancer. Early identification of patients at a high risk of GSD may help improve the prevention and control of the disease. A series of studies have attempted to establish prediction models for GSD, but these models could not be fully applied in the general population due to incomplete prediction factors, small sample sizes, and limitations in external validation. It is crucial to design a universally applicable GSD risk prediction model for the general population and to take individualized intervention measures to prevent the occurrence of GSD. This study aims to conduct a multicenter investigation involving more than 90000 people to construct and validate a complete and simplified GSD risk prediction model., Methods: A total of 123634 participants were included in the study between January 2015 and December 2020, of whom 43929 were from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (Chongqing, China), 11907 were from the First People's Hospital of Jining City (Shandong, China), 1538 were from the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital (Tianjin, China), and 66260 were from the People's Hospital of Kaizhou District (Chongqing, China). After excluding patients with incomplete clinical medical data, 35976 patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were divided into a training data set ( n =28781, 80%) and a validation data set ( n =7195, 20%). Logistic regression analyses were performed to investigate the relevant risk factors of GSD, and a complete risk prediction model was constructed. Factors with high scores, mainly according to the nomograms of the complete model, were retained to simplify the model. In the validation data set, the diagnostic accuracy and clinical performance of these models were validated using the calibration curve, area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Moreover, the diagnostic accuracy of these two models was validated in three other hospitals. Finally, we established an online website for using the prediction model (The complete model is accessible at https://wenqianyu.shinyapps.io/Completemodel/, while the simplified model is accessible at https://wenqianyu.shinyapps.io/Simplified/)., Results: After excluding patients with incomplete clinical medical data, a total of 96426 participants were finally included in this study (35876 from the First Affiliated Hospital of the Chongqing Medical University, 9289 from the First People's Hospital of Jining City, 1522 from the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute, and 49639 from the People's Hospital of Kaizhou District). Female sex, advanced age, higher body mass index, fasting plasma glucose, uric acid, total bilirubin, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, and fatty liver disease were positively associated with risks for GSD. Furthermore, gallbladder polyps, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and aspartate aminotransferase were negatively correlated to risks for GSD. According to the nomograms of the complete model, a simplified model including sex, age, body mass index, gallbladder polyps, and fatty liver disease was constructed. All the calibration curves exhibited good consistency between the predicted and observed probabilities. In addition, DCA indicated that both the complete model and the simplified model showed better net benefits than treat-all and treat-none. Based on the calibration plots, DCA, and AUCs of the complete model (AUC in the internal validation data set=74.1% [95% CI: 72.9%-75.3%], AUC in Shandong=71.7% [95% CI: 70.6%-72.8%], AUC in Tianjin=75.3% [95% CI: 72.7%-77.9%], and AUC in Kaizhou=72.9% [95% CI: 72.5%-73.3%]) and the simplified model (AUC in the internal validation data set=73.7% [95% CI: 72.5%-75.0%], AUC in Shandong=71.5% [95% CI: 70.4%-72.5%], AUC in Tianjin=75.4% [95% CI: 72.9%-78.0%], and AUC in Kaizhou=72.4% [95% CI: 72.0%-72.8%]), we concluded that the complete and simplified risk prediction models for GSD exhibited excellent performance. Moreover, we detected no significant differences between the performance of the two models ( P >0.05). We also established two online websites based on the results of this study for GSD risk prediction., Conclusions: This study innovatively used the data from 96426 patients from four hospitals to establish a GSD risk prediction model and to perform risk prediction analyses of internal and external validation data sets in four cohorts. A simplified model of GSD risk prediction, which included the variables of sex, age, body mass index, gallbladder polyps, and fatty liver disease, also exhibited good discrimination and clinical performance. Nonetheless, further studies are needed to explore the role of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and aspartate aminotransferase in gallstone formation. Although the validation results of the complete model were better than those of the simplified model to a certain extent, the difference was not significant even in large samples. Compared with the complete model, the simplified model uses fewer variables and yields similar prediction and clinical impact. Hence, we recommend the application of the simplified model to improve the efficiency of screening high-risk groups in practice. Ixekizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-17A that has shown significant improvement in alleviating psoriasis. However, data is sparse on the efficacy of ixekizumab in psoriasis patients in China. To investigate the efficacy of ixekizumab in Chinese psoriasis patients. Patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis were retrospectively investigated from April 2020 to October 2020. A total of 16 patients were treated with 80 mg ixekizumab every two weeks after a 160-mg loading dose. Efficacy was assessed using the Psoriasis Activity and Severity Index (PASI), static Physician's Global Assessment (sPGA) and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) at Weeks 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, and 12. All patients showed excellent response to the treatment. Compared to baseline level, the improvement was significant and statistically significant at Week 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12 (p<0.05). Of the patients, 18.75% reported sPGA 0/1 (clear or almost clear skin) as early as Week 2, and the percentage of patients who reported sPGA 0/1 reached 100% at Week 12. Moreover, the DLQI decreased gradually coinciding with improvement in PASI and sPGA. The head/neck regions showed the fastest improvements, followed by the trunk and the arms/legs. During the 12-week period, no serious adverse effects occurred. Our results indicate that the treatment of ixekizumab was safe and effective in psoriasis patients in China.
