The article focuses on the $333 million indemnity paid by the Chinese government in consequence of the Boxer uprising in 1900 which served as an allied debt for education between China and the U.S. Of the said amount, more than $24 million of which was allotted to the U.S. while the remaining amount has been swallowed by other nations. According to the author, the country's share became the most valuable funds of China for education.
