In recent years, the scale of China's outward foreign direct investment has been expanding, and the political risks are also intensifying. How does political risk affect the decision-making of outward foreign direct investment? This paper collected the relevant data of 134 countries from 2003 to 2016, using the regression method of System Generalised Method of Moments. It studies the political risk preference of outward foreign direct investment in the world and China. The study found that there is no political risk preference in the world as a whole. In contrast, China's outward foreign direct investment has obvious political risk preference. China does not have a political risk preference for developed countries. At the same time, China has shown strong default risk preference for emerging market countries and countries along the "the Belt and Road". This study adds default risk when measuring political risk, and further subdivides political risk into five categories, taking into account their internal interaction mechanism. In addition, this paper not only studies the similarities and differences of outward foreign direct investment 's political risk preferences between China and the world, but also introduces investment motivation to better explain the location choice of China's outward foreign direct investment. Simple Summary: Giardia duodenalis is a world-widely distribution intestinal protozoan parasite that can infect human and a broad range of mammals. It can cause a number of clinical symptoms including diarrhoea, abdominal pain, vomiting, severe dehydration and anemia etc. in animals and humans. Eight genetic assemblages (A to H) have been identified in G. duodenalis based on molecular analysis. In this study, the infection rates and genotypes of G. duodenalis in swine are investigated in Fujian province, southeastern China. G. duodenalis assemblages E was found in pigs in the present study. These results provide epidemiological data for giardiasis prevention, control and public health. Giardia duodenalis, an intestinal parasite, is widely distributed in humans and various animals, such as pigs, cattle and cats. The clinical symptoms of giardiasis are characterized as including abdominal pain, acute or chronic diarrhea, and bloating and weight loss in humans and animals, leading to public and veterinary health problems worldwide. However, the prevalence and genotypes of G. duodenalis in pigs in Fujian Province, southeastern China, have not been reported. In the present study, 725 fecal samples were collected from six cities (Fuqing, Putian, Nanping, Longyan, Sanming, Zhangzhou) in Fujian Province and analyzed for G. duodenalis prevalence and genotypes using nested PCR targeting the beta-giardin (bg), glutamate dehydrogenase (gdh) and triosephosphate isomerase (tpi) genes. The results shown that total occurrence rate of G. duodenalis was 26.9% (195/725) in pigs, with significant differences in the prevalence among different regions (χ2 = 86.508, p < 0.05) and groups (χ2 = 12.748, p < 0.05). 195, 11 and 6 samples were detected at the bg, tpi and gdh loci, respectively. Each one belonged to a subtype of assemblage E and was analyzed using sequences obtained in this study. Based on phylogenetic analyses of sequences from the three genetic loci, only one MLG E1 was found. The results indicated that pigs may present a potential zoonotic risk of spreading G. duodenalis infection from animals to humans in this area. The findings of the present study also provide basic data for the prevention and control of G. duodenalis infection in pigs and humans in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Freedom and equality are the basic needs of human life and the basic value of human society. The institutional justice contains the value pursuits of both freedom and equality. So a prudent decision should be made to strike a balance between freedom and equality. In any society, this balance is dynamic in nature; that is, a new balance will replace the old one when it is out of tune with the social development. Currently, the justice of China's distribution system should focus on how to ensure that the basic needs of the grassroots can be satisfied, the uneven access to opportunities can be reduced to the minimum in the institutional construction and operation, and a balance of interest can be achieved between different social strata through democratic consultations. The article focuses on the evaluation of repair gene polymorphisms in Chinese workers exposed to vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) in China. It highlights the importance of cytokinesis block micronucleus test to assess chromosomal damage in peripheral lymphocytes among the 185 VCM-exposed workers in the country. A study indicates that Chinese VCM-exposed workers with TDG Gly 199Ser were susceptible to chromosomal damage, and the APE1 Ile64 Val polymorphisms can modify the risk of chromosomal disorders.

Toxoplasma gondii ( T. gondii ) is an intracellular protozoan that can cause toxoplasmosis in all warm-blooded hosts. This study focused on the prevalence and genetic characterize of T. gondii in ducks from Fujian province, China. Genomic DNA was extracted from duck tissue samples (heart, liver, lung, and muscle). To assess the genetic diversity of the T. gondii isolates, it was determined by using multilocus polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) technology. A total of 586 ducks from 5 cities in Fujian province were tested, and 35 (6.0%) of which were found to be positive for the T. gondii B1 gene. Further genotyping of these positive samples at 10 genetic markers (SAG1, SAG2, SAG3, BTUB, GRA6, c22-8, c29-2, L358, PK1, and Apico) using PCR-RFLP revealed that one tissue samples (heart samples from Fuzhou ducks) were identified as Type I (ToxoDB#10). This study is the first report on the prevalence and genetic characterization of T. gondii in ducks in Fujian province, and Type I (ToxoDB#10) is found in ducks in China for the first time. The findings document the genetic characterization of T. gondii in free-range ducks from Fujian Province, thereby enriching the understanding of T. gondii genetic diversity in China. Moreover, these results provide essential data support for further prospective studies and underscores the "One Health" concept, emphasizing the integral link among human, animal, and environmental health. To study the characteristics and reduction potential of the ammonia emissions of a crop rotation system in the Yangtze River Delta, we monitored and compared the ammonia fluxes from two rotation systems:a conventional rice/winter wheat rotation system and a rice-shrimp cultivation/Chinese milk vetch rotation system. This study was conducted through closing chamber methods to investigate the influencing factors and transformation mechanism of ammonium emissions between the two studied cultivation patterns. Additionally, we established the temporal-spatial emission inventory by sorting out the local ammonia emission factors of farmland in the Yangtze River Delta in the last ten years. The emission reduction effects under different ammonia emission reduction paths were also obtained. The results showed that, the cumulative amount of ammonia emissions throughout the whole monitoring year for the conventional rice/winter wheat rotation system (CR-W) and the rice-shrimp cultivation/Chinese milk vetch rotation system (RS-C) were 65.95 and 20.31 kg·hm -2 , respectively, whereas the ammonia loss rates of CR-W and RS-C were 10.86% and 9.20%, respectively. Field surface water NH 4 + -N, field surface water pH, and topsoil NH 4 + -N were the major internal factors of ammonia emissions from paddy fields, whereas topsoil NH 4 + -N and atmospheric temperature had an important impact on ammonia emissions in the wheat season. The ammonia flux/field NH 4 + -N ratio (ARN) of field surface water under the CR and RS modes in the rice season reached 0.35±0.27 and 0.14±0.19, respectively, which was 10-25 times that of topsoil in the wheat season, such that the ammonia emission flux in the rice season was significantly higher than that in the wheat season. Under the conditions of high field water pH (8.0-9.0), atmospheric temperature (>28℃), and wind speed (>5.0 m·s -1 ), the ammonia flux/field NH 4 + -N ratios (ARN) were around 1.6-4.6 times that under low pH, temperature, and wind speed conditions, indicating that those three factors were the main factors affecting the conversion of NH 4 + -N from farmland to atmospheric NH 3 . Fertilization types also had significant effects on ARN; under different conditions, the ARN of urea was 1.5-5.5 times that of organic fertilizer. In 2019, the ammonia emission flux of rice and wheat under a conventional planting pattern in the Yangtze River Delta were (49.2±17.6) kg·hm -2 and (16.0±13.5) kg·hm -2 , respectively, whereas the ammonia loss rates of rice and wheat were (20.1±5.7)% and (5.9±3.6)%, respectively. The ammonia emission loss rate of the former was about three times that of the latter. The ammonia emission inventory built by local factors shows that the total ammonia emissions of the farmland rotation system in the Yangtze River Delta reached (400.3±206.4) kt in 2019, which was mainly concentrated in the central and northern regions of Anhui province and Jiangsu province, and the ammonia emission intensity reached (1.33±1.39) t·km -2 . The selection of different emission factors had a relatively large impact on the change range of the inventory results, reaching the standard of -51.6%~51.6%. Through combing and analyzing the six main paths of ammonia emission reduction in farmland, it was found that nitrogen fertilizer synergism was the best way to reduce ammonia emissions, with the efficiency of (30.9±51.4)%; however, the grain yield increase rate was (-4.2±17.4)%, with great uncertainty. The ammonia emission reduction effect of adding soil additives was relatively poor (-5.4±45.1)%; however, the grain yield increase rate was the highest among those of the six emission reduction paths, reaching (6.8±23.9)%. The ammonia emission reduction effect and grain yield increase rate of the ecological planting and breeding mode were (22.3±15.1)% and (5.6±3.8)%, respectively, which had the advantages of reducing ammonia emissions and increasing crop yield.

Objectives: This study described the clinical features, risk factors, factors affecting the outcome of this disease, and ribavirin therapeutic efficacy for severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) patients in Hefei., Methods: Between April 2020 and July 2020, 62 cases admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University were included in this study. Serum samples were collected from all patients, after which diagnosis was made via reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and via the use of a colloidal gold immunochromatography assay approach., Results: In multivariate analysis, the following factors were determined as risk factors for SFTS: Being a farmer (odds ratio [OR], 3.033), working in areas with weeds and shrubs (OR, 2.807), and being bitten by a tick (OR, 6.64). The rates of confusion, neck stiffness, viral encephalopathy, and the presence of liver damage were higher in the patients who died than that in the surviving ones. Additionally, the median of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine phosphokinase, activated partial thromboplastin time, D-dimer, fibrinogen degradation products, creatinine, and urea was also higher in the patients who died. One of the 15 patients treated with ribavirin in the early stage could not survive (6.7%), whereas 11 of the 35 patients treated with ribavirin in the late stage could not survive (31.4%); this difference was statistically significant. However, there was no significant difference in mortality between the untreated group and the other two groups (i.e., patients who started antiviral treatment <5 days from the onset and those who started antiviral treatment ≥5 days from the onset). Moreover, there was no positive effect determined on clinical or laboratory parameters in SFTS patients treated with ribavirin. Also, it was observed that leukocyte levels and platelet levels took longer to return to normal., Conclusions: In Hefei, clinical features, prognostic factors, and risk factors associated with SFTS are similar to those in other areas. Mining for metal and mineral resources lead to the rapid rise of tailings dams and caused serious damage to the ecological environment of the mining area. Soil physicochemical characteristics and enzyme activities were important indexes for ecosystem functions, and they were also important factors in evaluating soil restoration qualities. We selected nine sub-dams of the Eighteen River copper tailings in Yuanqu County, and analyzed the relationship between soil physicochemical properties and soil enzyme activities. The results showed that there were great differences in soil physicochemical properties over different reclaimed years, and as the reclaimed years passed, soil nutrient contents significantly increased. There were significant negative correlations between catalase and the ratio of soil carbon and nitrogen, and urease was positively correlated to total nitrogen and soil moisture. Phosphatase and sucrose demonstrated no significant relationships with soil physicochemical factors. Copper content gradually accumulated in soil as the restoration period of sub-dams increased. Arsenic and cadmium content increased initially and then decreased before they gradually reached a stable level. In addition, there was no significant difference in zinc content among different sub-dams. Together, these results provide the ecological basis for further studies in soil ecosystem restoration and degradation mechanisms in copper tailings.

Background: Vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is a colorless gas under room temperature and has been mostly used to produce polyvinyl chloride (PVC) since the 1970s. It is classified by the International Agency of Research on Cancer (IARC) as a known human carcinogen (Group 1). In this study, genetic damage in VCM workers was evaluated in relation to their occupational cumulative exposure to VCM., Methods: Cytokinesis-block micronucleus assay was conducted in 229 VCM workers and 138 controls to detect chromosome damage in peripheral blood lymphocytes. The cumulative exposure dose (CED) of VCM was calculated based on the job type and duration of each worker and the workplace VCM concentration. Dose-response relationships between VCM CED and micronucleus frequency or chromosomal damage were evaluated, and benchmark doses (BMDs) estimated., Results: Dose-response relationships between VCM CED and chromosomal damage were obtained. The 95% lower confidence bound of BMD of VCM CED was 2.86 mg/m(3) -year for both genders combined, leading to an estimated exposure limit of 0.072 mg/m(3) assuming a work life of 40 years., Conclusions: VCM exposure may induce chromosomal damage at occupational exposure levels below the Chinese national occupational health standard. Further research is needed to better understand micronuclei as biomarker of VCM genotoxicity. Better dose-response assessment and BMD estimation are desirable in order to improve the quantification of occupational exposure limits for VCM with respect to non-cancer risk., (Copyright © 2011 Wiley-Liss, Inc.)
