Methanogenic and methanotrophic microbes together determine the net methane flux from rice fields. Despite much research on them as separate communities, there has been little study of combined community patterns, and how these vary between the rhizoplane (root surface), rhizosphere (soil surrounding the root) and bulk soil around rice plants, especially at larger spatial scale. We collected samples from 32 geographically scattered rice fields in east central China, amplicon targeting the mcrA gene for methanogenesis and pmoA gene for methanotrophy by using high-throughput sequencing. Distinct communities of both methanogens and methanotrophs occurred in each of the three compartments, and predominantly positive links were found between methanogens and methanotrophs in all compartments indicating cross-feeding or consortia relationships. Methanogens were acting as the network hub in the bulk soil, and methanotrophs in rhizoplane. Network complexity and stability was greater in the rhizosphere than rhizoplane and bulk soil, with no network hubs detected, suggesting the strongest effect of homeostatic influence by plant occurred in the rhizosphere. The proportion of determinism (homogeneous selection) and distance-decay relation (DDR) in rhizoplane was consistently lower than that in the rhizosphere for both communities, indicating weaker phylogenetic clustering in rice root surface. Our results have provided a better understanding of CH 4 oxidation and emission in rice paddy fields and future agriculture management could take into consideration of the subtle variation among different soil compartments and interactions within methanogenic and methanotrophic communities., (© 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.)

Background: Healthcare professionals' job satisfaction is a critical indicator of healthcare performance, pivotal in addressing challenges such as hospital quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and staff retention rates. Existing evidence underscores the significant influence of healthcare leadership on job satisfaction. Our study aims to assess the impact of leadership support on the satisfaction of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, in China's leading hospitals. Methods: A cross-sectional survey study was conducted on healthcare professionals in three leading hospitals in China from July to December 2021. These hospitals represent three regions in China with varying levels of social and economic development, one in the eastern region, one in the central region, and the third in the western region. Within each hospital, we employed a convenience sampling method to conduct a questionnaire survey involving 487 healthcare professionals. We assessed perceived leadership support across five dimensions: resource support, environmental support, decision support, research support, and innovation encouragement. Simultaneously, we measured satisfaction using the MSQ among healthcare professionals. Results: The overall satisfaction rate among surveyed healthcare professionals was 74.33%. Our study revealed significant support from senior leadership in hospitals for encouraging research (96.92%), inspiring innovation (96.30%), and fostering a positive work environment (93.63%). However, lower levels of support were perceived in decision-making (81.72%) and resource allocation (80.08%). Using binary logistic regression with satisfaction as the dependent variable and healthcare professionals' perceived leadership support, hospital origin, job role, department, gender, age, education level, and professional designation as independent variables, the results indicated that support in resource provision (OR: 4.312, 95% CI: 2.412 ∼ 7.710) and environmental facilitation (OR: 4.052, 95% CI: 1.134 ∼ 14.471) significantly enhances healthcare personnel satisfaction. Conclusion: The findings underscore the critical role of leadership support in enhancing job satisfaction among healthcare professionals. For hospital administrators and policymakers, the study highlights the need to focus on three key dimensions: providing adequate resources, creating a supportive environment, and involving healthcare professionals in decision-making processes. Karst landforms are widely distributed in southern China. The terrain and soil properties in karst basins are complex, which results in high spatial heterogeneity of the ecological environment and soil organic matter (SOM) in karst watersheds. To investigate the spatial distribution characteristics of SOM in different land uses in the karst plateau basin, a total of 3,816 soil samples were taken from 568 soil profiles. The soil animals and different soil properties were recorded, and the concentration of SOM was tested using the potassium dichromate method in the laboratory. Then, the changes in the SOM content associated with soil animals and the soil properties associated with the different land use types were analyzed. The results showed a large discrepancy in SOM in the karst plateau basin. The average values of SOM in different soil layers were between 9.23 g kg-1 and 59.39 g kg-1. The SOM decreased in the following order: forestland > grassland > barren land > cultivated land > garden land. The SOM in soil in which soil animals are present is generally greater than that in the absence of soil animals, and the SOM partially increases with soil species diversity. Agrotis segetum is the main soil animal species that positively affects the distribution of organic matter in the surface soil layer. The SOM in soil with the phylum Annelida is much greater than that in soils with other animals, and earthworms are the main contributor. The structure of soil animal species is complex, and the change trend of SOM is stable. The major positive factors affecting soil animal diversity are soil thickness, soil humidity and soil structure, and rock outcrops are the main negative factor. In summary, good land use can increase animal diversity and abundance in soil, which promotes soil organic matter accumulation. Moreover, microtopography is an important factor that influences soil organic matter accumulation in karst basins and further affects the restructuring of the spatial distribution of soil organic matter. Economic freedom has central importance among the nations, however, Chinese economic freedom index declining continuously, leading to the several issues. Particularly, economic freedom is low among the Chinese female population. The world average of economic freedom index in 2022 based on 175 countries is 60 index points, but the Chinese index is 48. To address this issue, this study introduced green microfinance institutions based on Mayoux’s Feminist Empowerment Theory. The objective of this study is to examine the role of green microfinance institutions in women economic freedom in China. A survey questionnaire is used to collect data from female clients of microfinance institutions. 315 respondents responded to the survey and data analysis is carried out by using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results of the study identified that, green microfinance institution’s services such as credit and insurance can facilitate green micro enterprises. The promotion of green micro enterprises causes to increase women economic security, leading to the economic freedom. Additionally, green microfinance policy is a critical factor to promote the positive relationship between green microfinance institution’s services and women economic freedom. Mangrove forests are crucial wetland ecosystems located in tropical and subtropical intertidal zones, but they have become extensively degraded. As a viable ecological restoration strategy, the cultivation of native mangrove vegetation in these degraded areas has gained considerable attention. Mangroves' unique environmental conditions make them suitable habitats for diverse microbial communities, including Archaea - one of the main microbial communities in mangrove sediments - which plays a pivotal role in biogeochemical cycles.However, little is known about the dynamics of archaeal communities during mangrove restoration through phytoremediation. In this study, we investigated the physicochemical properties of sediment profiles from natural and artificially restored mangrove ecosystems in Tieshan Bay. We utilized quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and 16S rRNA gene sequencing techniques to explore differences in abundance, community structure, and composition of archaeal communities between sediment profiles in natural and artificially restored mangrove ecosystems. We also examined correlations between archaeal communities and environmental factors. Our results revealed that Crenarchaeota, Thermoplasmatota, Asgardarchaeota, Nanoarchaeota, and Euryarchaeota were the predominant archaeal phyla, with significant variation in sediment composition observed for Crenarchaeota and Thermoplasmatota in different depths. We also found significant differences in archaeal abundance and community composition between natural and restored mangrove sediments. Furthermore, C/N ratio and pH emerged as primary drivers of archaeal communities in wet and dry season sediments, respectively. Additionally, the study revealed seasonal disparities in seasonal differences in the relative abundance of certain archaeal groups (such as Asgardarchaeota, Nanoarchaeota). Network analysis demonstrated stronger interconnections among archaeal communities in sediments from natural mangroves than from artificially restored ones. These findings enhance our knowledge of archaeal community succession patterns in mangrove restoration, as well as provide fresh perspectives for the sustainable management of mangrove ecosystems. There are various types of land use in the agricultural and pastoral areas of northern China, including natural grassland and artificial grassland, scrub land, forest land and farmland, may change the soil microbial community However, the soil microbial communities in these different land use types remain poorly understood. In this study, we compared soil microbial communities in these five land use types within the agro-pastoral ecotone of northern China. Our results showed that land use has had a considerable impact on soil bacterial and fungal community structures. Bacterial diversity was highest in shrubland and lowest in natural grassland; fungal diversity was highest in woodland. Microbial network structural complexity also differed significantly among land use types. The lower complexity of artificial grassland and farmland may be a result of the high intensity of anthropogenic activities in these two land-use types, while the higher structural complexity of the shrubland and woodland networks characterised by low-intensity management may be a result of low anthropogenic disturbance. Correlation analysis of soil properties (e.g., soil physicochemical properties, soil nutrients, and microbiomass carbon and nitrogen levels) and soil microbial communities demonstrated that although microbial taxa were correlated to some extent with soil environmental factors, these factors did not sufficiently explain the microbial community differences among land use types. Understanding variability among soil microbial communities within agropastoral areas of northern China is critical for determining the most effective land management strategies and conserving microbial diversity at the regional level. The deep integration of higher education with digital technology represents an inevitable trend, and evaluating the interplay between higher education resources (HER) and digital infrastructure construction (DIC) holds significant value for advancing the development of digital higher education and mitigating regional disparities in China. This study establishes two comprehensive evaluation frameworks for HER and DIC. Panel data from 31 provinces, spanning the period from 2011 to 2020, are utilized for analysis. The coupling coordination degree (CCD) model is employed in this work to evaluate the synergy between HER and DIC in China. Furthermore, we analyze the regional differences, spatial distribution, and trend evolution of this synergy. The study results revealed that there is an initial decrease followed by an increase in the synergy between HER and DIC, and the overall CCD is at a moderate coordination, with the mean CCD of the eastern region being significantly higher than that of the other three regions, and the inter-regional difference is the main source of regional disparity in this synergy. The current state of synergistic development reveals a slight inclination towards multi-polarization, although the disparity in regional development was decreasing. Additionally, there is an observed convergence in the coordinated development of HER and DIC, with spatial factors playing a significant role. These findings offer empirical support for efforts to enhance the integration of HER and DIC, reduce regional disparities in higher education, and foster sustainable development in China's higher education sector. Simple Summary: The fecal microbiome of common cranes (Grus grus) in Tianjin Tuanbo Bird Natural Reserve (wild group) and Beijing Wildlife Park (semi-captive group) in China were analyzed and compared in this study, and the results showed that Firmicutes and Proteobacteria are the dominant phyla. The Sobs and Chao1 indexes revealed that the richness of gut microbiota in the semi-captive group was higher than in the wild group. Among the analysis of the relationship between plants and intestinal bacteria, Zea mays, Glycine max, and Phragmites australia had a significant correlation with the intestinal bacteria of G. grus. Beta diversity data highlighted the significant differences between the two groups and that the gut microbial taxa of the G. grus were associated with the main functions to adapt the dietary compositions. Taken together, these data will help us evaluate the influence of diet on animal microbiomes and improve our ability to enhance the conservation of this species. The gut microbiota of wild animals can regulate host physical health to adapt to the environment. High-throughput sequencing from fecal samples was used to analyze the gut microbiota communities in common cranes (Grus grus) without harming them. Herein, we compared the fecal microbiome of fifteen G. grus in Tianjin Tuanbo Bird Natural Reserve (wild group) and six G. grus sampled from Beijing Wildlife Park (semi-captive group) in China, using 16S amplicon sequencing and bioinformatic analysis. The results showed that microbiota diversity and composition varied in different groups, suggesting that the gut microbiota was interactively influenced by diet and the environment. A total of 38 phyla and 776 genera were analyzed in this study. The dominant phyla of the G. grus were Firmicutes and Proteobacteria. Meanwhile, the microbiota richness of the semi-captive group was higher than the wild group. Data on beta diversity highlighted significant differences based on different dietary compositions. Zea mays, Glycine max, and Phragmites australia showed a significant correlation with intestinal bacteria of G. grus. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of diet and microbiomes in semi-captive and wild G. grus living in different environments, thus helping us to evaluate the influence on animal microbiomes and improve conservation efforts for this species. Introduction: Land-use changes significantly impact soil properties in forests, which is an area of concern. Therefore, the effects of changing forest types on soil microbial communities and their functions in northern subtropical forest regions need to be further researched. Methods: We used 16S rDNA sequencing and Functional Annotation of Prokaryotic Taxa (FAPROTAX) to assess the variation of soil bacterial communities and potential functions related to carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) cycling in two soil layers (0-10 and 10-30 cm) after the conversion of the secondary masson pine (Pinus massoniana, PM) forest to plantations of slash pine (Pinus elliottii, PE) and Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolata, CL) located in Jingde County, Anhui Province, China. Results: The study found that converting coniferous secondary forests to coniferous plantations resulted in a notable increase in soil pH and a decrease in nitrate nitrogen and organic carbon contents. Additionally, soil microbial diversity increased significantly, and microbial community structure changed, particularly in the topsoil. These changes might affect the C- and N-cycling mediated by soil bacteria. The analysis revealed a significant decrease in the abundance of functional groups associated with C-cycling and a significant increase in the abundance of functional groups associated with N-cycling, particularly those associated with denitrification. Soil organic carbon, pH, and ammonium nitrogen were the most critical variables affecting changes in the soil microbial community. Camellia oleifera, a key economic forestry species in southern China, struggles with low productivity due to suboptimal planting management. Recently, transforming old or unadopted varieties of C. oleifera plantations has been recognized as a means to enhance economic benefits and production. However, the impact of these transformations on soil properties and fungal communities has received little attention. In this study, we targeted pre-renewal old C. oleifera and post-renewal young C. oleifera, Pinus massoniana, and Cunninghamia lanceolata. Through field sampling and soil physicochemical property analysis, we developed a soil quality evaluation system that effectively analyzes fungal community structures and identifies key arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) species for soil health. We found that the soil quality evaluation system for this region comprises pH, TK, AK, NO3−, PO4− BG, ACP, F.simpson, AMF.shannon, and AMF.ace, which collectively indicated significant improvements in soil quality following transformation. Notably, the nutritional characteristics of the dominant fungal communities underwent marked changes, with an increase in pathogenic fungi in young C. oleifera and an expansion of ectomycorrhizal fungi in P. massoniana forests. The AMF communities in all four types of forest exhibited aggregation, and Scutellospora and Diversispora emerged as key species in the AMF community of C. oleifera. Additionally, Mortierella and Trichoderma were found to enhance plant resistance to pathogenic fungi. This study demonstrates that forestland transformation positively impacts soil quality and fungal community structure in C. oleifera, which provides valuable insights for future soil management in the region, both in terms of soil quality evaluation and fungal conservation. Studies have revealed an association between the built environment and the health of older adults. However, few studies distinguish between the objective and perceived built environments and explore their associations with older adults' health, especially when considering housing differentiation. Drawing on a survey of 426 older adults in ten residential neighbourhoods in Dongfeng Township, Beijing, this study employed structural equation modelling and the Kruskal–Wallis test to analyse the relationship between the built environment of different housing types and older adults' health. The findings revealed that the objective and perceived environments were significantly associated with older adults' health, with physical activity and social interactions as mediating factors. The perceived built environment mediates the relationship between the objective built environment and older adults' health. Moreover, it was observed that the relationship between the built environment and older adults' health varied depending on housing type, which is a crucial reflection of spatial non-stationary in the relationship between health and environment. Therefore, the varying impacts of different housing types on older adults' health should not be overlooked when developing planning and other policies for aging-friendly cities. Simple Summary: Bovine breeding is an economically important endeavor in China. Ovarian traits play a significant role in the reproductive characteristics. This study aimed to underscore the discovery of a novel indel locus within the HMGA2 gene in Holstein cows. Our study found that a variant in the bovine HMGA2 gene has a significant connection with ovarian traits. These findings contribute to a more promising outlook for the bovine industry. The high-mobility group AT-hook 2(HMGA2) gene has been widely studied in the context of cancer and animal growth. However, recently, several studies have uncovered its critical role in cell proliferation. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) further suggests that the HMGA2 gene is a candidate gene in fertility, indicating its connection not only to growth traits but also to reproduction, specifically ovarian traits. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the distribution of the HMGA2 gene in 54 bovine breeds worldwide, identify important short fragment variants (indels), and investigate the relationship between HMGA2 and ovarian development. The dataset included genotypic information from a bovine population of 634 individuals (n = 634). After genotyping and analyzing four selected loci, we found that one out of four loci, rs133750033 (P4-D22-bp), was polymorphic. Our results also reveal that this indel of HMGA2 is significantly associated with certain ovarian traits (p < 0.05). Specifically, it has connection with ovarian length (p = 0.004) and ovarian height (p = 0.026) during diestrus. Additionally, we discovered a higher expression of the HMGA2 gene in Asian cattle breeds. In summary, this study suggests that HMGA2 has the potential to serve as an animal fertility testing marker gene. Nowadays, the importance of logistics management has been increasingly realized in industry and society. However, current educational approaches in logistics management seem unable to effectively equip students with the necessary skills to cope with practical issues after graduation. Recently, contest-based education has attracted logistics management educators' attention, but how it can be effectively utilized in this discipline is largely unclear. To fill this gap, this study followed a system approach and analyzed the factors influencing student performance in logistics management contests in China using interpretive structural modelling (ISM) and Matrice d' Impacts Croisés-Multiplication Appliquée á un Classement (MICMAC). The results suggest that the driving forces for improving student performance in contests are the instructors' encouragement and their previous experience in instructing contests. Also, the contestants' previous experience in academic contests, team leadership, and effectiveness of communication between instructors and contestants are critical influencing factors. Based on the results, the educational strategies for effective utilization of contest-based education in logistics management are discussed. This study contributes to the existing literature by using a system modeling approach to clarify the mechanisms of contest-based education adoption in logistics management as well as informing university teachers and higher education institutes about strategies to improve their education quality. In recent decades, ecological cyclic cultivation models have attracted increasing attention, primarily because the decomposition of crop residues and litter enhances soil organic matter content, thereby altering the soil microenvironment and regulating the diversity and functions of soil microbial communities. However, the effects of different coffee waste mulching on the diversity of soil microbial communities and their functions are still unclear. Therefore, this study set up four kinds of covering treatments: uncovered coffee waste (C), covered coffee litter (L), covered coffee pericarp (P), and both covered coffee litter and pericarp (PL). The results showed that compared to the control, coffee pericarp mulching significantly increased the soil available potassium (SAK) content by 18.45% and alkali hydrolyzed N (SAN) content by 17.29%. Furthermore, coffee pericarp mulching significantly increased bacterial richness and diversity by 7.75 and 2.79%, respectively, while litter mulching had little effect on bacterial abundance and diversity was smaller. The pericarp mulching significantly increased the abundance of Proteus by 22.35% and the abundance of Chlamydomonas by 80.04%, but significantly decreased the abundance of Cyanobacteria by 68.38%, while the coffee litter mulching significantly increased the abundance of Chlamydomonas by 48.28%, but significantly decreased the abundance of Cyanobacteria by 73.98%. The increase in soil SAK promoted bacterial Anoxygenic_photoautotrophy, Nitrogen_respiration, Nitrate_respiration, Nitrite_respiration, and Denitrification functions. The above results indicate that the increase in available soil potassium and alkali hydrolyzed N content under coffee pericarp cover is the main reason for promoting the diversity and richness of bacterial community and promoting the changes in bacterial community structure and function. The use of coffee pericarps in coffee plantations for ecological recycling helps to improve the diversity of the soil microbial community and maintain the relative stability of the microbial community structure and function, promoting soil health conservation and the sustainable development of related industries. The deteriorating soil carbon, nutrients, and microbial habitat pose a serious threat to crop production. However, the effects of long‐term cultivation with soil erosion on soil carbon, nitrogen, and bacterial communities remain poorly understood. Consequently, this study aims to explore the changes in these soil indicators in the last 110 years and their responses to soil erosion. Luvic Phaeozems in hillslope and Haplic Phaeozems in flat were sampled along 113‐ and 67‐year cultivation chronosequences. The soil organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen (TN), soil loss rate, the soil bacterial community, and so on were respectively determined using the Walkley–Black, the Kjeldahl, nuclide tracing method, and 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing methods. The comparisons of SOC, TN, and soil bacterial community between Luvic Phaeozems and Haplic Phaeozems were used to differentiate their responses to the soil erosion intensity. The results indicated that SOC and TN decreased negatively and exponentially during long‐term cultivation and took longer to regain stability in Luvic Phaeozems than in Haplic Phaeozems (e.g., SOC: from 55.77 to 23.11 g kg−1 after 152 years vs. from 91.83 to 34.24 g kg−1 after 32 years). The bacterial community transitioned into Proteobacteria‐dominant communities and the quantity of carbon‐fixing and nitrogen‐fixing functional groups decreased. These shifts were mainly driven by the SOC and TN contents (40%) and their loss ratios (44%). In conclusion, soil erosion leads to more severe SOC and TN loss on hillslope than flat under long‐term improper cultivation, ultimately endangering soil bacterial ecological functions, which has important implications for effective soil erosion control and encouraging conservation tillage in this food‐producing region. Background: In China, individuals diagnosed with esophageal cancer are confronted with an elevated risk of nutritional inadequacy or malnutrition throughout the course of their disease, a condition that contributes to various adverse clinical outcomes. A vast corpus of data are burgeoning at an unprecedented rate, primarily due to the revolutionary growth of digitalization technologies and artificial intelligence, notably within the domains of health care and medicine. The purpose of this investigation is to initiate the development of a nutritional screening and assessment indicator framework for patients with esophageal cancer within the Chinese context. We seek to furnish an instrumental reference to facilitate preparations for the forthcoming era of advanced, "deep," evidence‐based medicine. Methods: An integrative methodology was employed to forge the preliminary draft of the nutritional screening and assessment indicator system for preoperative patients with esophageal cancer. This encompassed a rigorous literature survey, in‐depth clinical practice investigation, and the facilitation of expert panel discussions. Thereafter, two iterative consultation phases were conducted using the Delphi method in China. The analytic hierarchy process was deployed to ascertain the weighting of each index within the definitive evaluation indicator system. Results: The effective response rates for the dual rounds of expert consultation were 91.7% and 86.4%, with commensurate authority coefficients of 0.97 and 0.91. The Kendall harmony coefficients were ascertained to be 0.19 and 0.14 (p < 0.01), respectively. The culminating nutritional screening and assessment indicator system for patients with esophageal cancer comprised 5 primary‐level indicators and 38 secondary‐level indicators. Conclusions: The nutritional screening and assessment indicator system contrived for patients with esophageal cancer is underpinned by cogent theoretical principles, leverages an astute research methodology, and manifests dependable outcomes. The restoration of mining wastelands, particularly in karst regions contaminated by heavy metals, is an environmental challenge in need of urgent attention. Soil microbes play a vital role in nutrient cycling and ecosystem recovery, yet the long-term evolution of soil microbial communities in such settings remains poorly understood. This study explored the dynamics and influencing factors of soil microbial communities during 35 years of natural restoration in abandoned manganese (Mn) mine areas in Guangxi Province, China. The results revealed that the concentrations of Mn, Cd, Zn, and Cu were significantly (p < 0.05) reduced by 80.4-85.3%, 55.3-70.0%, 21.0-38.1%, and 29.4-49.4%, respectively, in the mid-late restoration periods (R19 and R35) compared with R1. The α diversities of the bacterial and fungal communities significantly increased in the middle-late restoration periods (R19 and R35), indicating increased microbial diversity as restoration progressed. The bacterial community structure exhibited more pronounced changes than did the fungal community structure, with significant shifts observed in dominant phyla such as Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Acidobacteriota, and Ascomycota. Notably, the relative abundances of Rhizobiales, Burkholderiales, and Hypocreales increased gradually with succession. Co-occurrence network analysis revealed that bacterial interactions became stronger over time, whereas interactions between bacteria and fungi weakened. Mantel tests and partial least squares path modeling (PLS‒PM) identified soil pH, heavy metals (Mn, Cd, Zn, and Cu), and nutrients (SOM and TN) as key drivers shaping the microbial community composition. These factors were more strongly correlated with bacterial communities than with fungal communities, underscoring the different responses of microbial groups to environmental changes during natural restoration. Spaceborne formaldehyde (HCHO) measurements constitute an excellent proxy for the sources of non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs). Past studies suggested substantial overestimation of NMVOC emissions in state-of-the-art inventories over major source regions. Here, the QA4ECV (Quality Assurance for Essential Climate Variables) retrieval of HCHO columns from OMI (Ozone Monitoring Instrument) are evaluated against (1) FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared) column observations at 26 stations worldwide, and (2) aircraft in situ HCHO measurements from campaigns conducted over the U.S. in 2012–2013. Both validation exercises show that OMI underestimates high columns and overestimates low columns. The linear regression of OMI and aircraft-based columns gives ΩOMI = 0.651 Ωairc + 2.95×1015 molec.cm-2, with ΩOMI and Ωairc the OMI and aircraft-derived vertical columns, whereas the regression of OMI and FTIR data givesΩOMI = 0.659 ΩFTIR + 2.02×1015 molec.cm-2. Inverse modelling of NMVOC emissions with a global model based on OMI columns corrected for biases based on those relationships leads to much-improved agreement against FTIR data and HCHO concentrations from 11 aircraft campaigns. The optimized global isoprene emissions (~445 Tg yr-1) are 25 % higher than those obtained without bias correction. The optimized isoprene emissions bear both striking similarities and differences with recently published emissions based on spaceborne isoprene columns from the CrIS (Cross-track Infrared Sounder) sensor. Although the interannual variability of OMI HCHO columns is well understood over regions where biogenic emissions are dominant, and the HCHO trends over China and India clearly reflect anthropogenic emission changes, the observed HCHO decline over Southeastern U.S. remains imperfectly elucidated. Background: Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is currently the third most important legume crop in the world. It could form root nodules with its symbiotic rhizobia in soils and perform bio-nitrogen fixation. Mesorhizobium ciceri is a prevalent species in the world, except China, where Mesorhizobium muleiense is the main species associated with chickpea. There were significant differences in the competitive ability between M. ciceri and M. muleiense in sterilized and unsterilized soils collected from Xinjiang, China, where chickpea has been grown long term. In unsterilized soils, M. muleiense was more competitive than M. ciceri, while in sterilized soils, the opposite was the case. In addition, the competitive ability of M. ciceri in soils of new areas of chickpea cultivation was significantly higher than that of M. muleiense. It was speculated that there might be some biological factors in Xinjiang soils of China that could differentially affect the competitive nodulation of these two chickpea rhizobia. To address this question, we compared the composition and diversity of microorganisms in the rhizosphere of chickpea inoculated separately with the above two rhizobial species in soils from old and new chickpea-producing regions. Results: Chickpea rhizosphere microbial diversity and composition varied in different areas and were affected significantly due to rhizobial inoculation. In general, eight dominant phyla with 34 dominant genera and 10 dominant phyla with 47 dominant genera were detected in the rhizosphere of chickpea grown in soils of Xinjiang and of the new zones, respectively, with the inoculated rhizobia. Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria were dominant at the phylum level in the rhizosphere of all soils. Pseudomonas appeared significantly enriched after inoculation with M. muleiense in soils from Xinjiang, a phenomenon not found in the new areas of chickpea cultivation, demonstrating that Pseudomonas might be the key biological factor affecting the competitive colonization of M. muleiense and M. ciceri there. Conclusions: Different chickpea rhizobial inoculations of M. muleiense and M. ciceri affected the rhizosphere microbial composition in different sampling soils from different chickpea planting areas. Through high throughput sequencing and statistical analysis, it could be found that Pseudomonas might be the key microorganism influencing the competitive nodulation of different chickpea rhizobia in different soils, as it is the dominant non-rhizobia community in Xinjiang rhizosphere soils, but not in other areas. The purpose of this study was to identify the rate of parafoveal vessel density (VD) changes associated with the progression from non-diabetic retinopathy (NDR) to early stages of DR over a year. This longitudinal cohort study enrolled diabetic patients from the Guangzhou community in China. The patients with NDR at baseline were included and underwent comprehensive examinations at baseline and after 1 year. A commercial OCTA device (Triton Plus, Topcon, Tokyo, Japan) was employed to quantify the parafoveal VD in the superficial and deep capillary plexuses. The rates of change in parafoveal VD over time in the incident DR and NDR groups were compared after a year. A total of 448 NDR patients were included in the study. Among them, 382 (83.2%) were stable and 66 (14.4%) developed incident DR during the 1-year follow-up. The average parafoveal VD in the superficial capillary plexus (SCP) reduced significantly more quickly in the incident DR group than in the NDR group (-1.95 ± 0.45%/year vs. −0.45 ± 0.19/year, p = 0.002). The VD reduction rate for the deep capillary plexus (DCP) was not significantly different for the groups (p = 0.156). The incident DR group experienced a significantly faster reduction in parafoveal VD in the SCP compared with the stable group. Our findings further provide supporting evidence that parafoveal VD in the SCP may be used as an early indicator of the pre-clinical stages of DR. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Root rot caused by the fungal pathogen Fusarium sp. poses significant challenges to tobacco cultivation in China, leading to major economic setbacks. The interplay between this pathogen and the wider soil microbial community remains poorly understood. Methods: High-throughput sequencing technology was utilized to evaluate soil prokaryotic, fungal, and protistan communities. We compared microbial communities in infected soils to those in healthy soils from the same field. Additionally, the influence of pH on the microbial communities was assessed. Results: Infected soils displayed elevated levels of soil nutrients but diminished observed richness across prokaryotic, fungal, and protistan groups. The pathogenic fungi Fusarium solani f sp. eumartii's abundance was notably increased in infected soils. Infection with F. solani significantly altered the soil's microbial community structure and interactions, manifested as a decrease in network scale and the number of keystone species. An evaluation of prokaryotes' role in F. solani's invasion revealed an increased number of connecting nodes in infected soils. Additionally, relationships between predatory protists and fungi were augmented, whereas predation on F. solani declined. Discussion: The study underscores the significance of comprehending the interactions among soil microorganisms and brings to light the susceptibility of soil microbial communities to pathogen invasion. In order to explore the indoor air quality during different cooking procedures, a very common kitchen in China is selected for experimental research. An indoor air quality meter is used to measure the temperature, relative humidity, and CO and CO2 concentrations of the indoor air above the stove when people cook four different dishes under different ventilation patterns in the kitchen. The results indicate that the heat and gas consumed during cooking are closely related to the temperature and concentrations of CO and CO2. Some cooking procedures such as boiling water are related to the indoor air temperature and relative humidity in the kitchen. In addition, in kitchens without mechanical ventilation, natural ventilation shows a more significant positive effect on controlling temperature, relative humidity, and concentrations of CO and CO2 during cooking procedures. Land‐use change has significant influences on soil respiration (Rs) in terrestrial ecosystems. Soil microbes play critical roles in soil carbon cycling. Nevertheless, the specific mechanism of how changes in soil microbial properties are linked to the variation of Rs rate during land‐use change still remains poorly understood, especially in the Loess Plateau, China. Here, the characteristics of Rs rate and soil microbial community following the land‐use change from farmland to plantation/grassland were analyzed via an automated soil CO2 flux system and high‐throughput 16S rDNA gene sequencing. The afforestation altered soil microbial diversity and community composition, which was mainly explained by soil pH, temperature, organic matter, nitrate, alkali‐hydrolyzed nitrogen, and available phosphorus. The biomarkers of Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Thaumarchaeota were found in farmland soil at the phylum level. The afforestation also significantly decreased Rs rate, which was closely related to Shannon's index, Simpson's index, and some microbial taxa, such as Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Nitrospirae, and Acidobacteria. Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes were particularly expected to be important drivers of high Rs rate in farmland soil. Moreover, the microbial interaction was probably also an important factor affecting Rs rate. Our results indicate that the response of Rs to land‐use change depends on soil microbial community being regulated by soil physicochemical properties in the Loess Plateau, China. Microorganisms are essential in soil biogeochemical processes and vegetation establishment. Nonetheless, investigating predictable patterns in the microbial structure during forest restoration damaged by natural or human factors in southwestern China is still limited. Hence, the study intended to explore the effects of forest restoration damaged by illegal construction, abandoned mines, and meteorological disasters on the microbial structure and its consequence on ecosystem functioning. The results uncovered that soil and plant attributes in the restoration forests damaged by illegal construction were similar to the natural community. Furthermore, the alpha diversity indexes were higher in the restoration forests damaged by human factors than in the natural community. Co‐occurrence network analysis identified hub bacterial (e.g., Roseiarcus and Comamonas) and fungal (e.g., Exophiala and Botryotrichum) taxa, proving densely connected interactions with other microorganisms. Restoration forests damaged by illegal construction harbored beneficial genera belonging to Proteobacteria (Nordella, Xanthobacteraceae, and Sphingomonas) and Basidiomycota (Panaeolus, Psilocybe, and Sebacina), whereas restoration forests damaged by abandoned mines presented specialized bacteria involved in dark sulfur oxidation and ureolysis. Correlation analysis showed that soil properties, especially water content and pH, were the dominant factors affecting the microbial communities. Tree and shrub alpha diversities were significantly related to Chloroflexi in the natural community, and herbaceous richness was remarkably related to Proteobacteria and Mortierellomycota in the restoration forest damaged by human factors. Collectively, this comprehensive analysis generates novel insights to explore the contrasting responses of microbial communities during the process of restoration and provides essential microbial indicators for habitat restoration in southwestern China. Verticillium wilt is a disastrous disease caused by Verticillium dahliae that severely damages the production of cotton in China. Even under homogeneous conditions, the same cotton cultivar facing V. dahliae tends to either stay healthy or become seriously ill and die. This binary outcome may be related to the interactions between microbiome assembly and plant health. Understanding how the rhizosphere microbiome responds to V. dahliae infection is vital to controlling Verticillium wilt through the manipulation of the microbiome. In this study, we evaluated the healthy and diseased rhizosphere microbiome of two upland cotton cultivars that are resistant to V. dahliae, Zhong 2 (resistant) and Xin 36 (susceptible), using 16S rRNA and ITS high-throughput sequencing. The results showed that the healthy rhizosphere of both resistant cultivar and susceptible cultivar had more unique bacterial ASVs than the diseased rhizosphere, whereas fewer unique fungal ASVs were found in the healthy rhizosphere of resistant cultivar. There were no significant differences in alpha diversity and beta diversity between the resistant cultivar and susceptible cultivar. In both resistant cultivar and susceptible cultivar, bacterial genera such as Pseudomonas and Acidobacteria bacterium LP6, and fungal genera such as Cephalotrichum and Mortierella were both highly enriched in the diseased rhizosphere, and Pseudomonas abundance in diseased rhizospheres was significantly higher than that in the healthy rhizosphere regardless of the cultivar type. However, cultivar and V. dahliae infection can cause composition changes in the rhizosphere bacterial and fungal communities, especially in the relative abundances of core microbiome members, which varied significantly, with different responses in the two cotton cultivars. Analysis of cooccurrence networks showed that resistant cultivar has a more complex network relationship than susceptible cultivar in the bacterial communities, and V. dahliae has a significant impact on the bacterial community structure. These findings will further broaden the understanding of plant-rhizosphere microbiome interactions and provide an integrative perspective on the cotton rhizosphere microbiome, which is beneficial to cotton health and production. Introduction: Collegiate student-athletes often encounter various stressors stemming from academic study and athletic training, which can potentially have negative effects on their well-being. This study investigates how collegiate student-athletes' openness to experience and their engagement in knowledge sharing influence their well-being, as well as the moderating role of perceived coaching effectiveness. Methods: To examine these relationships, we propose and test a conceptual framework using an online survey conducted among collegiate student-athletes from a southeastern province of China. The participants consisted of 484 collegiate student-athletes who voluntarily participated in the study. We used regression analysis and mediation analysis to test the proposed relationships among the variables. Results: Openness to experience has a positive impact on knowledge sharing (β = 0.552, p < 0.05); knowledge sharing with peers positively affects collegiate student-athlete well-being (β = 0.415, p < 0.05) and mediates the relationship between openness to experience and collegiate student-athlete well-being (β = 0.086, p < 0.05). Perceived coaching effectiveness positively moderates the relationship between openness to experience and knowledge sharing (β = 0.170, p < 0.05). Discussion: Our study contributes to the collegiate student-athlete literature by shedding light on the factors that influence their well-being, with insights that bear important managerial implications for universities and coaches. Introduction: Soil microbial communities are critical in regulating grassland biogeochemical cycles and ecosystem functions, but the mechanisms of how environmental factors affect changes in the structural composition and diversity of soil microbial communities in different grassland soil types is not fully understood in northwest Liaoning, China. Methods: We investigated the characteristics and drivers of bacterial and fungal communities in 4 grassland soil types with 11 sites across this region using highthroughput Illumina sequencing. Results and Discussion: Actinobacteria and Ascomycota were the dominant phyla of bacterial and fungal communities, respectively, but their relative abundances were not significantly different among different grassland soil types. The abundance, number of OTUs, number of species and diversity of both bacterial and fungal communities in warm and temperate ecotone soil were the highest, while the warm-temperate shrub soil had the lowest microbial diversity. Besides, environmental factors were not significantly correlated with soil bacterial Alpha diversity index. However, there was a highly significant negative correlation between soil pH and Shannon index of fungal communities, and a highly significant positive correlation between plant cover and Chao1 index as well as Observed species of fungal communities. Analysis of similarities showed that the structural composition of microbial communities differed significantly among different grassland soil types. Meanwhile, the microbial community structure of temperate steppe-sandy soil was significantly different from that of other grassland soil types. Redundancy analysis revealed that soil total nitrogen content, pH and conductivity were important influencing factors causing changes in soil bacterial communities, while soil organic carbon, total nitrogen content and conductivity mainly drove the differentiation of soil fungal communities. In addition, the degree of connection in the soil bacterial network of grassland was much higher than that in the fungal network and soil bacterial and fungal communities were inconsistently limited by environmental factors. Our results showed that the microbial community structure, composition and diversity of different grassland soil types in northwest Liaoning differed significantly and were significantly influenced by environmental factors. Objective: Depressive symptom is a serious mental illness often accompanied by physical and emotional problems. The prevalence of depressive symptom in older adults has become an increasingly important public health priority. Our study used cardiometabolic indicators to predict depressive symptom in middle-aged and older adults in China. Methods: The data came from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study 2011 (CHARLS2011), which was a cross-sectional study. The analytic sample included 8,942 participants aged 45 years or above. The study evaluated the relationship between cardiometabolic indicators and depression by measuring 13 indicators, including body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, waist-height ratio (WHtR), conicity index, visceral adiposity index (VAI), Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI), lipid accumulation product (LAP), a body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), triglyceride glucose index (TyG-index) and its correlation index (TyG-BMI, TyG-waist circumference, TyG-WHtR). Binary logistic regression analysis was used to examine the association between thirteen cardiometabolic indicators and depressive symptom. In addition, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and area under curve (AUC) were used to evaluate the predictive anthropometric index and to determine the optimum cut-off value. Results: The study included 8,942 participants, of whom 4,146 (46.37%) and 4,796 (53.63%) were male and female. The prevalence of depressive symptom in mid-aged and older adults in China was 41.12% in males and 55.05% in females. The results revealed that BMI [AUC = 0.440, 95%CI: 0.422-0.457], waist circumference [AUC = 0.443, 95%CI: 0.425-0.460], WHtR [AUC = 0.459, 95%CI: 0.441-0.476], LAP [AUC = 0.455, 95%CI: 0.437-0.472], BRI [AUC = 0.459, 95%CI: 0.441-0.476], CVAI [AUC = 0.449, 95%CI: 0.432-0.467], TyG-BMI [AUC = 0.447, 95%CI: 0.429- 0.465], and TyG-waist circumference [AUC =0.452, 95%CI: 0.434-0.470] were weak predictors of depressive symptom (p < 0.05) in males. In females, BMI [AUC = 0.470, 95%CI: 0.453-0.486], LAP [AUC = 0.484, 95%CI: 0.467-0.500], TyG-BMI [AUC = 0.470, 95%CI: 0.454-0.487], and TyG-waist circumference [AUC =0.481, 95%CI: 0.465-0.498] were weak predictors of depressive symptom (p < 0.05). On the other side, VAI, ABSI, conicity index and TyG index could not predict depressive symptom in middle-aged and older adults. Conclusion: Most cardiometabolic indicators have important value in predicting depressive symptom. Our results can provide measures for the early identification of depressive symptom in middle-aged and older adults in China to reduce the prevalence of depressive symptom and improve health. COVID-19 has caused major disruptions to agricultural supply chains around the world. Researchers and policy-makers are interested in identifying means to reduce the disruptive effects caused by the pandemic. We investigate the impacts of COVID-19 on the operation of e-commerce stores (in short, e-stores) specialising in agricultural inputs. The difference-in-differences method (DID) is employed to estimate the causal relationship between COVID-19 and online sales of agricultural inputs using data from 54,244 agricultural input e-stores registered in 118 prefecture-level cities across 15 provinces and hosted on two major Chinese e-commerce platforms. The results show that COVID-19 led to a substantial growth in monthly sales of agricultural input e-stores, and this growth of online sales varied across store scales and by types of agricultural inputs. In particular, e-stores selling seeds and seedlings experienced a larger growth in sales than stores selling agricultural machinery and implements, and the mid-and larger-scaled e-stores experienced more growth of sales than micro-and small-scaled e-stores. Further analysis reveals that the growth of online sales of agricultural inputs was driven mainly by an increase in the quantity of customer orders (QCO). Polygonatum kingianum Collett & Hemsl., is one of the most important traditional Chinese medicines in China. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between herb quality and microbial-soil variables, while also examining the composition and structure of the rhizosphere microbial community in Polygonatum kingianum, the ultimate goal is to provide a scientific approach to enhancing the quality of P. kingianum. Illumina NovaSeq technology unlocks comprehensive genetic variation and biological functionality through high-throughput sequencing. And in this study it was used to analyze the rhizosphere microbial communities in the soils of five P. kingianum planting areas. Conventional techniques were used to measure the organic elements, pH, and organic matter content. The active ingredient content of P. kingianum was identified by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Colorimetry. A total of 12,715 bacterial and 5487 fungal Operational Taxonomic Units (OTU) were obtained and taxonomically categorized into 81 and 7 different phyla. Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Acidobacteriae were the dominant bacterial phyla Ascomycota and Basidiomycota were the dominat fungal phyla. The key predictors for bacterial community structure included hydrolysable nitrogen and available potassium, while for altering fungal community structure, soil organic carbon content (OCC), total nitrogen content (TNC), and total potassium content (TPOC) were the main influencing factors. Bryobacter and Candidatus Solibacter may indirectly increase the polysaccharide content of P. kingianum, and can be developed as potential Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR). This study has confirmed the differences in the soil and microorganisms of different origins of P. kingianum, and their close association with its active ingredients. Introduction: Plant invasion can profoundly alter ecosystem processes driven by microorganisms. The fundamental mechanisms linking microbial communities, functional genes, and edaphic characteristics in invaded ecosystems are, nevertheless, poorly understood. Methods: Here, soil microbial communities and functions were determined across 22 Amaranthus palmeri (A. palmeri) invaded patches by pairwise 22 native patches located in the Jing-Jin-Ji region of China using high-throughput amplicon sequencing and quantitative microbial element cycling technologies. Results: As a result, the composition and structure of rhizosphere soil bacterial communities differed significantly between invasive and native plants according to principal coordinate analysis. A. palmeri soils exhibited higher abundance of Bacteroidetes and Nitrospirae, and lower abundance of Actinobacteria than native soils. Additionally, compared to native rhizosphere soils, A. palmeri harbored a much more complex functional gene network with higher edge numbers, average degree, and average clustering coefficient, as well as lower network distance and diameter. Furthermore, the five keystone taxa identified in A. palmeri rhizosphere soils belonged to the orders of Longimicrobiales, Kineosporiales, Armatimonadales, Rhizobiales and Myxococcales, whereas Sphingomonadales and Gemmatimonadales predominated in the native rhizosphere soils. Moreover, random forest model revealed that keystone taxa were more important indicators of soil functional attributes than edaphic variables in both A. palmeri and native rhizosphere soils. For edaphic variables, only ammonium nitrogen was a significant predictor of soil functional potentials in A. palmeri invaded ecosystems. We also found keystone taxa in A. palmeri rhizosphere soils had strong and positive correlations with functional genes compared to native soils. The particle number size distribution (PNSD) and hygroscopicity on alpine sites can directly reflect the interaction between aerosol and cloud in the free troposphere, and narrow the errors caused by extrapolation from the ground observation. In this study, PNSD and cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) concentration (NCCN) were observed at the summit of Mt. Hua from December 16, 2020, to January 23, 2021. The result showed that the modes and hygroscopicity parameters (κ) of aerosols were significantly affected by the height and direction of the originated air masses. The particle in nucleation mode from new particle formation erupted frequently in 13:00–18:00 local time due to the intense photochemistry and had a potential contribution to CCN through the process of the growth with the ratio of 0.83 nm·h−1, which was affected by air masses, meteorological conditions, and gaseous pollutants. Subsequently, the hygroscopicity κ varied from 0.22 to 0.13 with the supersaturation from 0.2% to 1.0% as more components that were difficult to dissolve or had low hygroscopicity. The comprehensive analysis of PNSD and hygroscopicity showed that smaller k from two‐parameter power model corresponded to particles with higher hygroscopicity or larger diameter, while larger k matched to the hydrophobic or ultrafine particles. In addition, the interactions between aerosol and cloud were estimated more accurately and the uncertainty of indirect effect was shrunk. Overall, we provided insights into PNSD and hygroscopicity of alpine aerosol particles by direct observation on Mt. Hua, which may be important to other elevated regions as well. The small‐diameter particle erupted from new particle formation and had a potential contribution to CCN through the process of the growth, which was affected by air masses, meteorological conditions, and gaseous pollutants. Furthermore, we calculated κ values ranging from 0.22 to 0.13 at supersaturations from 0.2% to 1.0%, which were attributed to components that were either difficult to dissolve or had low hygroscopicity. Comprehensive analysis of the PNSD and hygroscopicity data showed that a smaller k value corresponded to particles with higher hygroscopicity or larger diameters, while a larger k value was observed for ultrafine or hydrophobic particles. Sugarcane straw returned to the field has rapidly increased due to the bane on straw burning in China. Straw returning of new sugarcane cultivars has been practiced in the fields. Still, its response has not been explored on soil functionality, microbial community and yield of different sugarcane cultivars. Therefore, a comparison was made between an old sugarcane cultivar ROC22 and a new sugarcane cultivar Zhongzhe9 (Z9). The experimental treatments were: without (R, Z), with straw of the same cultivar (RR, ZZ), and with straw of different cultivars (RZ, ZR). Straw returning improved the contents of soil total nitrogen (TN by 73.21%), nitrate nitrogen (NO3 --N by 119.61%), soil organic carbon (SOC by 20.16%), and available potassium (AK by 90.65%) at the jointing stage and were not significant at the seedling stage. The contents of NO3 --N was 31.94 and 29.58%, available phosphorus (AP 53.21 and 27.19%), and available potassium (AK 42.43 and 11.92%) in RR and ZZ were more than in RZ and ZR. Straw returning with the same cultivar (RR, ZZ) significantly increased the richness and diversity of the rhizosphere microbial community. The microbial diversity of cultivar Z9 (treatment Z) was greater than that of cultivar ROC22 (Treatment R). In the rhizosphere, the relative abundance of beneficial microorganisms Gemmatimonadaceae, Trechispora, Streptomyces, Chaetomium, etc., increased after the straw returned. Sugarcane straw enhanced the activity of Pseudomonas and Aspergillus and thus increased the yield of sugarcane., The richness and diversity of the rhizosphere microbial community of Z9 increased at maturity. In ROC22, bacterial diversity increased, and fungal diversity decreased. These findings collectively suggested that the impact of Z9 straw returning was more beneficial than ROC22 on the activity of rhizosphere microorganism's soil functionality and sugarcane production. The recent advances in assisted reproductive technology, such as hormonal stimulation, IVF, and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), have made it possible to circumvent many causes of male and female factor infertility. However, uterine infertility is still considered an "unconditionally infertile" condition. Owing to the continued advances in organ transplantation, microvascular anastomosis techniques, and immunosuppressive medicine, the transplantation of organs is no longer restricted to the ones necessary for continued life. Quality‐of‐life enhancing types of transplantation, such as uterine transplantation, in recent years, have also entered the clinical arena. This undoubtedly brings new hope to such women, but also creates ethical challenges. Selection of the donor, the impact on the recipient and offspring, as well as challenges to moral and social norms are issues that cannot be ignored. In order to reveal the soil cultivation and natural restoration patterns, bacterial microbial communities and functions in cold-region wetlands, the changes of soil bacterial microbial communities and functions driven by soil cultivation and natural restoration were studied by 16SrRNA Gene Fragments and their high-throughput sequencing, relying on the wetland and farmland soils at Hongxing Wetland National of Heilongjiang Province in China. The results showed that Actinobacteriota, Acidobacteriota, Proteobacteria, Chloroflexi and Firmicutes were the dominant bacteria in the tested soil samples. PCA and NMDS analysis showed that there was a significant separation between the bacterial communities in soil natural restoration treatments (CRMW and CSFW). Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria and Chloroflexi were the dominant bacterial species in the cultivation farmland (RF and SF). According to FAPROTAX algorithm and BugBase phenotype analysis, soil cultivation and natural restoration patterns can change the abundance of soil functional microorganisms. The dominant functional genes were mainly chemoheterotrophy and aerobic chemoheterotrophy bacteria. Career choice research has attracted the attention of recruiters and young graduates. The study aims to investigate the psychological factors that influence college students' employment choices. As a result, data for the study were gathered from 250 final-year college students in China via an online questionnaire survey. The study identified the psychological barriers faced by college students during job interviews through interviews with 120 h recruiters. The SPPS tool is used for data analysis. The study identified personal interest, self-efficacy, and self- esteem; social responsibilities; confidence; professional development opportunities; and future orientation as the important psychological factors that influence the career choice of college students. The study also found that the barriers faced by the college students during the interview were anxiety, inferiority complex, cowardice, and pride. Therefore, the study suggests that the college provides job-oriented training for college students' employment choices. The college should take the initiative to provide students with career opportunities and proper training to avoid psychological barriers during interviews., (© 2024. The extensive use of organic amine pesticides (OAPs) in agricultural practices has resulted in the contamination of water environments, posing threats to ecosystems and human health. This study focused on the Xiang River (XR), a representative drinking water source, as the research area to investigate the occurrence characteristics of 34 OAPs. Diphenylamine emerged as the most prevalent OAP in surface water due to industrial and agricultural activities, while cycloate dominated in sediments due to cumulative effects. Generally, the concentration of OAPs in a mixed tap water sample was lower than those in surface water samples, indicating OAPs can be removed by water plants to a certain extent. The water-sediment distribution coefficients (k d ) of ΣOAPs were much less than 1 L/g, the majority of OAPs maintained relatively high concentrations in water samples instead of accumulating in sediments. Furthermore, risk assessment revealed that carbofuran showed a moderate risk to the aquatic environment, with a risk quotient of 0.23, while other OAPs presented minor risks. This study provided crucial insights for regional pesticide management and control in the XR basin, emphasizing the importance of implementing strategies to minimize the release of OAPs into the environment and protect human health., (© 2024. The upgrading of the digital economy (DE) is crucial to building an intelligent society. The rapid development of computational intelligence in recent years has also brought vitality to the development of the DE. However, with the deepening of international trade, the issue of trade security has become more and more prominent. Therefore, this study aimed to construct a DE trade security evaluation system. For computational intelligence, this study proposes a support vector machine based on improved particle swarm optimization. Such an algorithm can play a key role in the construction of an evaluation system. It is built for the evaluation system. This study selects five indicators of market competitiveness, trade control, trade dependence, market concentration, and trade legal system evaluation. The experimental results of this study prove that the evaluation system proposed in this study is effective. Summary: Microbiota colonize every accessible plant tissue and play fundamental roles in plant growth and health. Soybean stay‐green syndrome (SGS), a condition that causes delayed leaf senescence (stay‐green), flat pods and abnormal seeds of soybean, has become the most serious disease of soybean in China. However, the direct cause of SGS is highly debated, and little is known about how SGS affect soybean microbiome dynamics, particularly the seed microbiome. We studied the bacterial, fungal, and viral communities associated with different soybean tissues with and without SGS using a multi‐omics approach, and investigated the possible pathogenic agents associated with SGS and how SGS affects the assembly and functions of plant‐associated microbiomes. We obtained a comprehensive view of the composition, function, loads, diversity, and dynamics of soybean microbiomes in the rhizosphere, root, stem, leaf, pod, and seed compartments, and discovered that soybean SGS was associated with dramatically increased microbial loads and dysbiosis of the bacterial microbiota in seeds. Furthermore, we identified a novel geminivirus that was strongly associated with soybean SGS, regardless of plant cultivar, sampling location, or harvest year. This whole‐plant microbiome profiling of soybean provides the first demonstration of geminivirus infection associated with microbiota dysbiosis, which might represent a general microbiological symptom of plant diseases. Afforestation is an effective approach to rehabilitate degraded ecosystems, but often depletes deep soil moisture. Presently, it is not known how an afforestation‐induced decrease in moisture affects soil microbial community and functionality, hindering our ability to understand the sustainability of the rehabilitated ecosystems. To address this issue, we examined the impacts of 20 years of afforestation on soil bacterial community, co‐occurrence pattern, and functionalities along vertical profile (0–500 cm depth) in a semiarid region of China's Loess Plateau. We showed that the effects of afforestation with a deep‐rooted legume tree on cropland were greater in deep than that of in top layers, resulting in decreased bacterial beta diversity, more responsive bacterial taxa and functional groups, increased homogeneous selection, and decreased network robustness in deep soils (120–500 cm). Organic carbon and nitrogen decomposition rates and multifunctionality also significantly decreased by afforestation, and microbial carbon limitation significantly increased in deep soils. Moreover, changes in microbial community and functionality in deep layer was largely related to changes in soil moisture. Such negative impacts on deep soils should be fully considered for assessing afforestation's eco‐environment effects and for the sustainability of ecosystems because deep soils have important influence on forest ecosystems in semiarid and arid climates. Soil microbes act as "players" in regulating biogeochemical cycles, whereas environmental heterogeneity drives microbial community assembly patterns and is influenced by stochastic and deterministic ecological processes. Currently, the limited understanding of soil microbial community assembly patterns and interactions under temperate forest stand differences pose a challenge in studying the soil microbial involvement during the succession from coniferous to broad-leaved forests. This study investigated the changes in soil bacterial and fungal community diversity and community structure at the regional scale and identified the pathways influencing soil microbial assembly patterns and their interactions. The results showed that broad-leaved forest cover in temperate forests significantly increased soil pH, and effectively increased soil water content, total carbon (TC), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) contents. Both soil bacterial and fungal alpha diversity indices were correlated with soil physicochemical properties, especially in broad-leaved forest. The bacterial and fungal community composition of coniferous forest was dominated by deterministic process (bacteria: 69.4%; fungi: 88.9%), while the bacterial community composition of broad-leaved forest was dominated by stochastic process (77.8%) and the fungal community composition was dominated by deterministic process (52.8%). Proteobacteria, Acidobacteriota, Actinobacteriota, and Verrucomicrobiota were the dominant phyla of soil bacterial communities in temperate forests. Whereas Ascomycota, Mortierellomycota, Basidiomycota, and Rozellomycota were the dominant phyla of soil fungal communities in temperate forests. Most members of dominant phylum were regulated by soil physical and chemical properties. In addition, the succession from temperate coniferous forest to broad-leaved forest was conducive to maintaining the complex network of soil bacteria and fungi, and the top 20 degree of the major taxa in the network reflected the positive response of microbial interactions to the changes of soil nutrients during forest succession. This study not only shows the mechanism by which species differences in temperate forests of northern China affect soil microbial community assembly processes, but also further emphasizes the importance of the soil microbiome as a key ecosystem factor through co-occurrence network analysis. The advances in the technology applied to the health field lead the medical system to be optimized and the medical equipment and drugs to be improved, and the benefits can be seen in the prolonged human lifetime. The increased age and the lifestyle, however, increase the demand of blood for medical procedures and to save lives. The average age of blood donors has gradually increased, the number of new blood donors has grown slowly, and the allocation of blood supply and inventory is complex and many times cannot be improved. The low increase in blood donor number is a concern that needs to be overcome. Here, the theory of planned behavior was used as a tool to analyze the motivation, intention, and behavior of blood donors. The theory of planned behavior was applied in the form of questionnaires to college students. The results indicated that participation on the research motivates and educates the participants to donate blood, encourages the behavior of relatives, and leads the participants to realize the altruistic and mutually beneficial outlook on blood donation. The results also indicated the awareness of the students with respect to the importance of blood donation and that it can be an important tool in order to educate and increase the young blood donor number. SERU production system (SERU) demonstrates more manufacturing flexibility in response to volatile market demands. Although many firms have implemented SERU successfully, little research on manufacturing flexibility in SERU exists, especially empirical evidence in the context of Chinese firms. Manufacturing flexibility considers two major dimensions in SERU, namely, product mix flexibility and volume flexibility. We propose a contingency-based framework to explore the source factors of manufacturing flexibility and their impact on firm performance. We examine the moderating effects of both multi-skilled worker turnover and industry type. Using a total of 357 samples from China, we test the hypotheses with structural equation modeling. Our results reveal that both SERU reconfiguration and multi-skilled worker involvement are important sources of product mix flexibility and volume flexibility, and the two kinds of flexibility subsequently improve firm performance. Multi-skilled worker involvement has a stronger impact than SERU reconfiguration on improving manufacturing flexibility. Both multi-skilled worker turnover and industry type are important moderators. We also conduct tests indicating that the mediation effects of manufacturing flexibility are moderated by multi-skilled worker turnover and industry type. Exploring the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) fulfillment and disclosure on enterprises' sustainable innovation capacity can not only expand the research boundary of factors of sustainable innovation and the impact of CSR, but it can also serve as a reference for the decision-making of listed companies in increasing pollution problems. Using a sample of 224 Chinese A-share businesses in the heavy pollution industry listed between 2016 and 2020 and employing an ordinary least square regression, the results provide empirical evidence that CSR is positively associated with sustainable innovation. Second, the business environment can serve as a moderator of the relationship between CSR and sustainable innovation, and the positive relationship between CSR and sustainable innovation is more pronounced in regions with better macroeconomic conditions. Additionally, the improvement of CSR for sustainable innovation is more clear in stateowned firms than in non-state-owned enterprises. After a series of robustness tests that eliminate marketization, law enforcement, and macro-political unpredictability, the results still hold. This study broadens the scope of CSR and sustainable innovation research. In addition, the theoretical and practical significance of this study's findings is referenced in this paper. To determine the incidence of anxiety and depression and examine their cross-sectional associations with chronic pain and quality of life among older adults in rural China. Observational, multi-center, cross-sectional study. A structured, self-report questionnaire was administered. Descriptive statistics analysis and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis were performed. 244 participants (female: 47.1%) filled out the questionnaires. 87 (35.7%) had symptoms of anxiety and 123 (50.4%) had symptoms of depression. The sensory pain descriptor, affective pain descriptor, physical component summary, and mental component summary significantly influenced symptoms of anxiety while affective pain descriptor, physical component summary, and mental component summary significantly influenced symptoms of depression. Subjective pain experiences and QoL, including physical and mental domains, are strongly related to symptoms of anxiety and depression among older adults in rural China. Relationships between oceanic emissions and air chemistry are intricate and still not fully understood. For regional air chemistry, a better understanding of marine halogen emission on the hydroxyl (OH) radical is crucial. The OH radical is a key species in atmospheric chemistry because it can oxidize almost all trace species in the atmosphere. In the marine atmosphere, OH levels could be significantly affected by the halogen species emitted from the ocean. However, due to the complicated interactions of halogens with OH through different pathways, it is not well understood how halogens influence OH and even what the sign of the net effect is. Therefore, in this study, we aim to quantify the impact of marine-emitted halogens (including Cl, Br, and I) through different pathways on OH in the high OH season by using the WRF-CMAQ model with process analysis and state-of-the-art halogen chemistry in East Asia and near the western Pacific. Results show a very complicated response of the OH production rate (P OH) to marine halogen emissions. The monthly P OH is generally decreased over the ocean by up to a maximum of about 10 %–15 % in the Philippine Sea, but it is increased in many nearshore areas by up to about 7 %–9 % in the Bohai Sea. In the coastal areas of southern China, the monthly P OH could also decrease 3 %–5 %, but hourly values can decrease over 30 % in the daytime. Analysis of the individual reactions using the integrated reaction rate shows that the net change in P OH is controlled by the competition of three main pathways (OH from O 3 photolysis, OH from HO 2 conversion, and OH from HO X , X=Cl , Br, I) through different halogen species. Sea spray aerosol (SSA) and inorganic iodine gases are the major species influencing the strengths of these three pathways and therefore have the most significant impacts on P OH. Both of these two types of species decrease P OH through physical processes, while generally increasing P OH through chemical processes. In the ocean atmosphere, inorganic iodine gases determine the basic pattern of Δ P OH through complicated iodine chemistry, which generally positively influences P OH near O 3 sources while negatively influencing it when O 3 experiences longer transport over the ocean. Over the continent, SSA is the controlling species, and the SSA extinction effect leads to the negative Δ P OH in southern China. Our results show that marine-emitted halogen species have notable impacts over the ocean and potential impacts on coastal atmospheric oxidation by species (SSA, inorganic iodine, and halocarbons), processes (chemistry, radiation, and deposition), and main pathways. The notable impacts of the marine-emitted halogen species on the atmospheric oxidation capacity have further implications for the lifetime of long-lived species such as CH 4 in the long term and the quantity of air pollutants such as O 3 in the episodic events in East Asia and in other circumstances (e.g., different domains, regions, and emission rates). Although carbonyl compounds are a key species with atmospheric oxidation capacity, their concentrations and sources have not been sufficiently characterized in various atmospheres, especially in desert areas. In this study, atmospheric carbonyl compounds were measured from 16 May to 15 June 2018 in Tazhong in the central Taklimakan Desert, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. Concentrations, chemical compositions, and sources of carbonyl compounds were investigated and compared with those of different environments worldwide. The average concentration of total carbonyls during the sampling period was 11.79 ± 4.03 ppbv. Formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acetone were the most abundant carbonyls, with average concentrations of 6.08 ± 2.37, 1.68 ± 0.78, and 2.52 ± 0.68 ppbv, respectively. Strong correlations between formaldehyde and other carbonyls were found, indicating same or similar sources and sinks. A hybrid single-particle Lagrangian integrated trajectory was used to analyze 72 h back trajectories. The values of C1/C2 (formaldehyde to acetaldehyde, 3.22–4.59) and C2/C3 (acetaldehyde to propionaldehyde, 15.00–17.03) from different directions and distances of the trajectories were consistent with the characteristics of a remote area. Relative to various environments, the carbonyl concentration in the Tazhong desert site was lower than that in urban areas and higher than that in suburban and remote areas, implying contributions from local primary and secondary sources.
