Abstract The Dadushan Tunnel, which is located in the southwestern karst region of China in Guizhou Province, is one of the key elements of the Hukun High-Speed Railway. Cavities occur unpredictably in the tunnel, and well-developed karst conduits are frequently encountered. These features result in safety problems, such as water gushing and rapid flooding. In this paper, on the theoretical basis of the surface Magnetic Resonance Sounding (MRS) method, we propose Tunnel Magnetic Resonance Sounding (TMRS) in the tunnel space model and derive the expression of the MRS response signal with a vertical antenna. A direction angle formula is then created to calculate the perpendicular component of the transmitting field at arbitrary geomagnetic field and antenna directions. In addition, we present a comprehensive study on the TMRS based on forward modeling and numerical experiments. The relationship between the magnetic resonance signal response and the position and water content of water-bearing structures is obtained by forward modeling. In the numerical examples, the inversion results agree with the numerical model. The application of the method to a case study involving the Dadushan Tunnel indicates that the prediction results agree well with the excavation results. This paper establishes a theoretical basis for the development of a magnetic resonance sounding instrument for use in tunnels for the advanced detection of water-rich geological structures that can produce tunnel disasters. Abstract: Two new carabrane sesquiterpenes, 4,8-dioxo-6β-methoxy-7β,11-epoxy carabrane (1), and its isomer, 4,8-dioxo-6β-methoxy-7α,11-epoxy carabrane (2) were isolated from the roots of Vladimiria souliei. Debris flow is one of the most frequently occurring geological disasters in Jilin province, China, and such disasters often result in the loss of human life and property. The objective of this study is to propose and verify an information fusion (IF) method in order to improve the factors controlling debris flow as well as the accuracy of the debris flow susceptibility map. Nine layers of factors controlling debris flow (i.e., topography, elevation, annual precipitation, distance to water system, slope angle, slope aspect, population density, lithology and vegetation coverage) were taken as the predictors. The controlling factors were improved by using the IF method. Based on the original controlling factors and the improved controlling factors, debris flow susceptibility maps were developed while using the statistical index (SI) model, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) model, the random forest (RF) model, and their four integrated models. The results were compared using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and the spatial consistency of the debris flow susceptibility maps was analyzed while using Spearman's rank correlation coefficients. The results show that the IF method that was used to improve the controlling factors can effectively enhance the performance of the debris flow susceptibility maps, with the IF-SI-RF model exhibiting the best performance in terms of debris flow susceptibility mapping. Underground construction projects such as tunnel construction are at high risk of water-induced disasters. Because this type of disaster poses a serious threat to worker safety and productivity, instruments and methods that can accurately detect the water source are critical. In this study, a water detection instrument that combines Magnetic Resonance Sounding (MRS) and Time-domain Electromagnetic Method (TEM) techniques to yield a joint MRS-TEM interpretation method was developed for narrow underground spaces such as tunnels. Joint modules including a transmitter and receiver were developed based on a dual-purpose and modular design concept to minimize the size and weight of the instrument and consequently facilitate transportation and measurement. Additionally, wireless control and communication technology was implemented to enable inter-module cooperation and simplify instrument wiring, and wireless synchronization was accomplished by implementing a Global Positioning System (GPS)-based timing scheme. The effectiveness and reliability of the instrument were verified via indoor laboratory tests and field measurement signal tests. Furthermore, the practicability of the combined instrument and its interpretation method was verified via a field case performed in a tunnel in Hubei, China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) is widely accepted as a delicious fruit in China and its seeds have been commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine to relieve neuralgic pain. In the present study, chemical investigation of the 95% ethanol extract of Litchi chinensis seeds led to the isolation of four new compounds, 2α,3α-epoxy-5,7,3′,4′-tetrahydroxyflavan-(4β-8-catechin) (5), 2β,3β-epoxy-5,7,3′,4′-tetrahydroxyflavan-(4α-8-epicatechin) (7), litchiol A (9) and litchiol B (12), together with 11 known ones, 2,5-dihydroxy-hexanoic acid (1), soscopoletin (2), coumaric acid (3), protocatechuic acid (4), 2α,3α-epoxy-5,7,3′,4′-tetrahydroxyflavan-(4β−8)-epicatechin (6), pterodontriol d-6-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (8), Narirutin (10), naringin (11), dihydrocharcone-4′-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (13), pinocembrin-7-rutinoside (14), pinocembrin-7-neohesperidoside (15). Their structures were mainly elucidated on the basis of NMR, MS, IR, CD and UV spectral evidences. Antioxidant activities of 14 compounds were determined by DPPH radical-scavenging assay and Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity assay, and the results showed that four compounds, protocatechuic acid (4), 2α,3α-epoxy-5,7,3′,4′-tetrahydroxyflavan-(4β-8-catechin (5), 2α,3α-epoxy-5,7,3′,4′-tetrahydroxyflavan-(4β−8)-epicatechin (6), 2β,3β-epoxy-5,7,3′,4′-tetrahydroxyflavan-(4α-8)-epicatechin (7), exhibited moderate antioxidant activities. A new secoiridoid named chinensisol (1) along with twenty known compounds were isolated from the 95% ethanol extract of Cortex fraxini. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of NMR, MS, IR and UV spectral evidences. The quinone reductase (QR) inducing activities of the compounds were evaluated and the results showed that compounds 1, 9 and 14 had moderate QR inducing activities with CD values (concentration required to double the specific activity of QR) of 72.4±7.7, 34.3±3.3 and 42.0±0.4μM respectively. Streptomyces sp. HNA39 is a promising candidate for the production of antineoplastic metabolites screened from a collection of 448 actinomycetes derived from coastal sediments. The complete genome sequence of HNA39 comprises a 7,351,753-bp linear chromosome with a GC content of 71.94%. Whole genome analysis reveals the presence of 29 putative biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) encoding secondary metabolites. Among them, a type I PKS BGC shows an 82% similarity with the cyclizidine (CLD) BGC identified from Streptomyces NCIB 11649. LC-MS profiles further supported the production of new CLD congeners. Bafilomycins were also found produced in abundance, corresponding to another type I PKS BGC highly homologous to that of bafilomycin B1 from S. lohii. CLDs are indolizidine alkaloids consisting a fused five- and six-membered ring system with an intriguing cyclopropane terminal linked by a trans-dienic chain. The cyclization mechanism of the cylopropyl ring, one of its pharmacophores, is still unknown. The latent reservoir of HIV-1 in resting memory CD4 + T cells serves as a major barrier to curing HIV-1 infection. Reactivation of latent HIV-1 is proposed as a promising strategy for the clearance of the viral reservoirs. Because of the limitations of current latency reversal agents (LRAs), identification of new LRAs is urgently required. Here, we analyzed Euphorbia kansui extracts and obtained three ingenol derivative compounds named EK-1A, EK-5A and EK-15A. We found that ingenol derivatives can effectively reactivate latent HIV-1 at very low (nanomolar) concentrations in HIV latency model in vitro. Furthermore, ingenol derivatives exhibited synergy with other LRAs in reactivating latent HIV-1. We verified that EK-15A can promote latent HIV-1 reactivation in the ex vivo resting CD4 + T cells isolated from the peripheral blood of HIV-infected individuals on suppressive antiretroviral therapy. In addition, ingenol derivatives down-regulated the expression of cell surface HIV co-receptors CCR5 and CXCR4, therefore potentially preventing new infection of HIV-1. A new diphenyl ether (1) as well as 20 other compounds were identified from the fermentative extracts of marine-derived fungi Phoma sp. CZD-F11 (Compounds 1-8) and Aspergillus sp. CZD-F18(Compounds 9-21). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis. The broth extracts of the fungi exhibited very good anticancer activity against H1975 cells with 5.62 and 25.8% viability at concentration of 10 μg/mL for Phoma sp. CZD-F11 and Aspergillus sp. CZD-F18, respectively. The inhibitory activity of all compounds against PC-3 cell lines, BRD4 and aromatase were evaluated. The results showed compound 7 exhibited moderate anticancer activity with 66.1% inhibition against PC-3 cell lines at the concentration of 10 μg/mL. Compound 7 and 8 exhibited favourable BRD4 inhibitory activity with 78.5 and 76.4% inhibition at the concentration of 10 μg/mL.
