Objective To investigate the utilization of outpatient and inpatient services in patients with pneumoconiosis and its influencing factors. Methods By using the convenient sampling method, 199 pneumoconiosis patients were selected from the West China Fourth Hospital, and their population characteristics, medical treatment-seeking behavior, and influencing factors were investigated by using the questionnaire on pneumoconiosis patients and its influencing factors compiled by CDC of China. Multivariate logistic regression model and multivariate poisons regression model were used to analyze the influencing factors of outpatient and inpatient service utilization. Results The two-week outpatient rate of pneumoconiosis patients surveyed was 27.6%, the median number of outpatients used in one year was twice, and the annual hospitalization rate was 61.8%. For hospitalized patients, the median number of hospitalizations per year was 1, and the median cumulative hospitalization days was 30 days. The average visual health scale (VAS) score of patients was 48.3±17.4. Multivariate logistic regression and multivariate poisons regression analysis showed that pneumoconiosis patients with basic health insurance (OR = 0.067, 95% CI: 0.006-0.716), higher frequency of medication (OR=0.100, 95% CI: 0.037-0.269), and lower VAS score (OR = 0.992, 95% CI: 0.988-0.997) had less use of outpatient services. Pneumoconiosis patients with recent exacerbation of cough (OR=5.530, 95% CI: 2.446-12.501), work injury insurance (OR=1.183, 95% CI:1.015-1.379), and lower income (OR=0.980, 95% CI: 0.965-0.997) had more use of outpatient services. Pneumoconiosis patients who were married (OR=0.063, 95% CI: 0.005-0.771) and had lower VAS scores (OR=8.463, 95% CI: 3.090-23.248) had less use of inpatient services. Pneumoconiosis patients with higher frequency of medication (OR=8.463, 95% CI: 3.090-23.248), complicated with core pulmonale (OR = 1.855, 95% CI: 1.307-2.634), pneumoconiosis compensation (OR=3.358, 95% CI: 1.183-9.529), social relief (OR=1.402, 95% CI: 1.047-1.877) and more active communication with patients (OR=2.158, 95% CI: 1.061-4.390) were likely to have more use of inpatient services. Conclusion The utilization rates of outpatients and inpatients with pneumoconiosis are higher than the national average. The fact that rural hydropower stations are scattered in sites and discharge facilities differ widely in their forms causes the high costs of ecological flow discharge monitoring in China. Meanwhile, the irregularity of river sections and the randomness of hydrological situations also increase the difficulty of flow monitoring, impeding the extensive application of regular monitoring equipments. Under such circumstances, non-contact video recognition is an effective alternative. Based on the data extracted from a large number of ecological flow discharge videos, the authors develop a video recognition intelligent algorithm, which can be used to identify whether the ecological flow has been discharge or not. By combining a main algorithm and a sub-model, this system ensures not only the universality and ease of use of the identification, but also the accuracy of the identification results. The authors also develop a water conservancy video AI general component system, which integrates the video recognition intelligent system and the identification business process, and has been put into use in 499 rural hydropower stations through a period of five months. The effectiveness and promotion value of this system is testified by the statistics of all recognition results: after ruling out the cases where the videos or images are blurred, the average recognition accuracy under normal conditions is 97.8%. Explicitly sharing individual level data in genomics studies has many merits comparing to sharing summary statistics, including more strict QCs, common statistical analyses, relative identification and improved statistical power in GWAS, but it is hampered by privacy or ethical constraints. In this study, we developed encG-reg, a regression approach that can detect relatives of various degrees based on encrypted genomic data, which is immune of ethical constraints. The encryption properties of encG-reg are based on the random matrix theory by masking the original genotypic matrix without sacrificing precision of individual-level genotype data. We established a connection between the dimension of a random matrix, which masked genotype matrices, and the required precision of a study for encrypted genotype data. encG-reg has false positive and false negative rates equivalent to sharing original individual level data, and is computationally efficient when searching relatives. We split the UK Biobank into their respective centers, and then encrypted the genotype data. We observed that the relatives estimated using encG-reg was equivalently accurate with the estimation by KING, which is a widely used software but requires original genotype data. In a more complex application, we launched a finely devised multi-center collaboration across 5 research institutes in China, covering 9 cohorts of 54,092 GWAS samples. encG-reg again identified true relatives existing across the cohorts with even different ethnic backgrounds and genotypic qualities. Our study clearly demonstrates that encrypted genomic data can be used for data sharing without loss of information or data sharing barrier. Author summary: Estimating pairwise genetic relatedness within a single cohort is straightforward. However, in practice, related samples are often distributed across different cohorts, making it challenging to estimate inter-cohort relatedness. In this study, we propose a method called encrypted genotype regression (encG-reg), which provides an unbiased estimation of inter-cohort relatedness using encrypted genotypes. The genotype matrix of each cohort is masked by a random matrix, which acts similarly to a private key in a cryptographic scheme. This masking process produces encrypted genotypes, which are a projection of the original genotype matrix. We derive the expectation and particularly the sampling variance for encG-reg, the latter involves eighth-order moments calculation. encG-reg allows us to accurately identify relatedness across cohorts, even for large-scale biobank data. To demonstrate the efficacy of encG-reg, we verified it in a multi-ethnicity UK Biobank dataset comprising 485,158 samples. For this case, we successfully tracked down to the 1st-degree relatedness (such as full sibs and parent-offspring). Furthermore, we used encG-reg in a collaboration involving 9 Chinese cohorts, encompassing a total of 54,092 samples from 5 genomic centers. It is worth noting that if the number of effective markers is sufficient encG-reg has the potential to detect even more distant degrees of relatedness beyond what we demonstrated. The impact of international migrant networks on outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) by multinational enterprises (MNEs) is an emerging research topic in the field of international business. Based on the data of A‐share listed companies from 2008 to 2020 in China, this study analyzes the impact of international migrant networks on OFDI by MNEs and further examines the moderating effect of firms' international experience. Our findings suggest that migrant networks have a facilitating effect on OFDI by MNEs, and firms' international experience plays a positive moderating role in the above relationship. We also find that the facilitation effect of migrant networks on OFDI by MNEs is more obvious in the context of greater geographical and cultural distance, indicating the positive effect of migrant networks in reducing information asymmetry and transaction costs. In addition, the facilitation effect of migrant networks on OFDI by MNEs is more significant in the subsample of the service industry. Background: Following lung cancer surgery, patients often experience severe symptoms which are not properly assessed at discharge. The aim of this study was to identify the clinical presentation at discharge and the influencing factors of postoperative symptoms in patients who have undergone lung cancer surgery.Methods: This cross-sectional study analysed data from patients who participated in a prospective cohort study that enrolled patients who underwent lung cancer surgery at six tertiary hospitals in the People's Republic of China, from November 2017 to January 2020. Patient symptoms at discharge were measured using the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory Lung Cancer module. The five core symptoms were defined according to ratings of moderate to severe symptoms (≥ 4 on a 0-10 scale). A multivariate linear regression model was used to identify the influencing factors of each symptom at discharge.Results: Among the 366 participants, 51.9% were male and the mean (SD) age was 55.81 (10.43) years. At discharge, the core symptoms were cough (36.4%), pain (28.2%), disturbed sleep (26.3%), shortness of breath (25.8%), and fatigue (24.3%), and more than half of the participants (54.6%) had one to five of the core symptoms, with moderate to severe severity. A low annual income and the use of two chest tubes were significantly associated (P = 0.030 and 0.014, respectively) with higher mean scores of the core symptoms.Conclusion: Though clinically eligible for discharge, more than half of the participants had severe symptoms at discharge after lung cancer surgery. Objective. The objective of this study is to explore the application of a very important person (VIP) intervention mode in patients with advanced tumors in the western region of China. Methods. One hundred and sixty-three patients were randomly divided into a control and experimental groups. The control group received routine care, and the experimental group received VIP future care. The willingness to end-of-life treatment, decision-making certainty, and quality of life were compared between the two groups before intervention (T0), after intervention (T1), and 1 month after intervention (T2). Results. There were no significant differences in the basic data of the two groups. Unlike the control group, the experimental group preferred palliative care at the end of T1 (P < 0.05), and the acceptance rate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and mechanical treatment decreased significantly. After the VIP intervention, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) (P < 0.05). After 1 month of intervention (T2), the results showed that the overall quality of life, physical discomfort, negative emotions, care and support, survival predicament, and lifetime value of the patients were significantly higher than those before the intervention (all P < 0.05). Decision certainty results showed that the differences between the T0, T1, and T2 time points and the interaction between groups and time were statistically significant, and the interaction was more significant at T2 (P < 0.05). Background: Lung cancer patients without chief complaints have been increasingly identified by physical examination. This study aimed to profile and compare chief complaints with patient-reported symptoms of lung cancer patients before surgery. Methods: Data were extracted from a multicenter, prospective longitudinal study (CN-PRO-Lung 1) in China from November 2017 to January 2020. A comparison between chief complaints and patient-reported symptoms was analyzed using the Chi-squared test. Results: A total of 201 (50.8%) lung cancer patients without chief complaints were found by physical examination at admission, and 195 (49.2%) patients had chief complaints. The top 5 chief complaints were coughing (38.1%), expectoration (25.5%), chest pain (13.6%), hemoptysis (10.6%), and shortness of breath (5.3%). There were significantly more patients with chief complaints of coughing (38.1% vs 15.0%, P < 0.001) and pain (20.5% vs 6.9%, P< 0.001) than those with the same symptoms rated ≥ 4 via MD Anderson Symptom Inventory‒Lung Cancer (MDASI-LC). There were less patients with chief complaints of fatigue (1.8% vs 10.9%, P< 0.001), nausea (0.3% vs 2.5%, P=0.006), and vomiting (0.3% vs 1.8%, p=0.032) than those with the same symptoms rated ≥ 4 via MDASI-LC. In patients without chief complaints, the five most common moderate to severe patient-reported symptoms were disturbed sleep (19.5%), distress (13.5%), dry mouth (13%), sadness (12%), and difficulty remembering (11.1%). Conclusion: Symptoms of lung cancer patients not included in the chief complaint could be identified via a patient-reported outcome instrument, suggesting the necessity of implementing the patient-reported outcome assessment before lung cancer surgery for better patient care. Abstract This study conducts a theoretical analysis about effects of China's financial markets on the global commodity prices, and employs ARDL model and SVAR model to test it empirically. Results illustrated that: CNY NDF rate has exerted impact on some industrial metals before the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, while impact of China's stock market on commodity prices is insignificant. We find the influence of China's stock market and CNY NDF market significantly increased after the crisis, which means the fluctuations of China's financial markets do influence the commodity prices. However, such effect is still weak comparing with US stock market and FX market. β-Thalassemia (β-thal) is one of the most common genetic diseases in southern China. In order to obtain detailed epidemiology data to be used for primary prevention programs, we have analyzed 2,055 independent subjects living in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China (P.R. China), by using hematological biochemical screening and DNA technology. The results indicate a higher prevalence (3.07%) of β-thal and coinheritance of α- and β-thal (0.49%) than previously reported for Guandong Province. Ten β-thal mutations were found in 63 independent chromosomes. The four most common mutations [codons 41/42 (–TCTT), IVS-II-654 (C>T), –28 (A>G), codon 17 (A>T)] accounted for 90.46% of the total. The uncommon mutations profile was different from that of other cities in Guangdong Province and the rare mutation IVS-II-2 (–T), once reported in Hong Kong, was also detected. This study will contribute to the development of prevention strategies in the region, allowing better genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis of β-thal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: To investigate deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in hospitalized patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), we performed a single institutional study to evaluate its prevalence, risk factors, prognosis, and potential thromboprophylaxis strategies in a large referral and treatment center.Methods: We studied a total of 143 patients with COVID-19 from January 29, 2020 to February 29, 2020. Demographic and clinical data, laboratory data, including ultrasound scans of the lower extremities, and outcome variables were obtained, and comparisons were made between groups with and without DVT.Results: Of the 143 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 (age 63±14 years, 74 [51.7%] men), 66 patients developed lower extremity DVT (46.1%: 23 [34.8%] with proximal DVT and 43 [65.2%] with distal DVT). Compared with patients who did not have DVT, patients with DVT were older and had a lower oxygenation index, a higher rate of cardiac injury, and worse prognosis, including an increased proportion of deaths (23 [34.8%] versus 9 [11.7%]; P=0.001) and a decreased proportion of patients discharged (32 [48.5%] versus 60 [77.9%]; P<0.001). Multivariant analysis showed an association only between CURB-65 (confusion status, urea, respiratory rate, and blood pressure) score 3 to 5 (odds ratio, 6.122; P=0.031), Padua prediction score ≥4 (odds ratio, 4.016; P=0.04), D-dimer >1.0 μg/mL (odds ratio, 5.818; P<0.014), and DVT in this cohort, respectively. The combination of a CURB-65 score 3 to 5, a Padua prediction score ≥4, and D-dimer >1.0 μg/mL has a sensitivity of 88.52% and a specificity of 61.43% for screening for DVT. In the subgroup of patients with a Padua prediction score ≥4 and whose ultrasound scans were performed >72 hours after admission, DVT was present in 18 (34.0%) patients in the subgroup receiving venous thromboembolism prophylaxis versus 35 (66.0%) patients in the nonprophylaxis group (P=0.010).Conclusions: The prevalence of DVT is high and is associated with adverse outcomes in hospitalized patients with COVID-19. Prophylaxis for venous thromboembolism may be protective in patients with a Padua protection score ≥4 after admission. Despite the Xiangzhong metallogenic province being globally the most important ore-concentrated area of antimony (Sb) mineralization, the genesis of Sb-(Au-W) deposits in this region is still under debate. In this study, trace element compositions of hydrothermal quartz from four representative Sb-(Au-W) deposits (Xikuangshan, Woxi, Banxi, and Zhazixi) in the Xiangzhong metallogenic province have been investigated to constrain the origin of ore-forming fluids and physiochemical conditions of Sb mineralization. The fs LA-ICP-MS data indicate that Li, B, Na, Al, P, K, and Sb are relatively enriched in quartz, probably mainly incorporated into the quartz crystal lattice, and dominated by the coupled substitution of (Al3+, Sb3+, B3+) + (Li+, Na+, K+, H+) ↔ Si4+ and (Al3+, Sb3+, B3+) + P5+ ↔ 2Si4+. In the Xikuangshan Sb deposit, charge-neutrality conditions of cations reveal that (Al3+, Sb3+) + Li+ ↔ Si4+ is the most important substitution mechanism in quartz from early-stage Sb mineralization (quartz-stibnite veins), whereas (Al3+, Sb3+) + (Li+ + H+) ↔ Si4+ may control the trace element contents in quartz from late-stage Sb mineralization (calcite-quartz-stibnite veins). The relatively high Al content and the low variability in trace element content suggest that quartz from the Xikuangshan Sb deposit may have precipitated from a relatively acidic and stable ore-forming fluid. Combined with the high Sr and Rb contents of quartz, a plausible explanation is that acidic hydrothermal fluids promoted water–rock reaction that dissolved large amounts of Sr and Rb, resulting in the high Al, Rb, and Sr contents in crystallized quartz from the Xikuangshan Sb deposit. In contrast, the relatively low but inhomogeneous Al content indicates that quartz from the Woxi and Banxi Sb-(Au-W) deposits may have precipitated from a less acidic ore-forming fluid and supports the idea of fluid mixing. More importantly, the relatively high contents of Rb, Ge, and Ti in quartz from the Woxi and Banxi Sb-(Au-W) deposits, combined with the low Al and Sr contents, imply that magmatic-hydrothermal systems possibly contributed to the ore-forming fluids. Based on the trace element compositions of quartz, two major types of Sb deposits were identified in the Xiangzhong metallogenic province: the giant Xikuangshan epithermal deposit in which the ore-forming fluids are relatively acidic, stable and have experienced water–rock reaction, generally similar to the Qinglong Sb deposit in the Youjiang metallogenic province. The second type is the orogenic-type deposit represented by the Woxi Sb-Au-W deposit, including the Banxi Sb deposit, where the ore-forming fluids have undergone fluid mixing and relatively weak water–rock reaction, and may have been joined by a small amount of magmatic-hydrothermal fluids. Together with the recently published Sb mineralization ages (149–144 Ma) of the Woxi Sb-Au-W deposit, it supports the idea that this type of Sb deposit is related to the Mesozoic magmatism. [Display omitted] • Li-Rb-Cs mineralization of the Zhengchong deposit via a magmatic process. • Monazite U-Pb results at ca.150 Ma represent the Li-Rb-Cs ore-forming age. • Monazite composition is mainly influenced by temperature, f O 2 , and Si activity. The giant Zhengchong Li-Rb-Cs deposit (ore resource: 270 k tonnes (t) Li 2 O @ 0.557 wt%, 110 kt Rb 2 O @ 0.225 wt%, and 6 kt Cs 2 O @ 0.013 wt%) in South China is associated with quartz-zinnwaldite-topaz rock, which is composed mainly of quartz, zinnwaldite and topaz with a porphyritic texture. However, the genetic link between these rocks and their Jiuyishan granite batholith host is unclear, and the magmatic-hydrothermal process involved in the rare-metal mineralization remains enigmatic. In this study, we analyzed the in-situ U-Pb age and mineral chemistry of monazite, a ubiquitous accessory phase at Zhengchong, to reconstruct the precise geochronological framework of this highly-fractionated felsic magmatic system, and the origin of the Li-Rb-Cs-rich quartz-zinnwaldite-topaz rock. Based on petrographic observations and back-scattered electron (BSE) imaging, monazite crystals in different rocks at Zhengchong have the following characteristics: (1) Mnz-I is mainly BSE-zoned monazite disseminated in granite porphyry, coexisting with zircon or included in zinnwaldite, (2) Mnz-II consists of relatively fine-grained BSE-zoned or homogeneous monazite distributed in feldspar phenocryst-bearing quartz-zinnwaldite-topaz rock, (3) Mnz-III is BSE-zoned monazite with embayed texture in the core, distributed in coarse-grained quartz-zinnwaldite-topaz rock, and (4) Mnz-IV is homogenous, BSE-gray monazite from fine-grained porphyritic quartz-zinnwaldite-topaz rock (as the main orebodies). All monazite crystals are characterized by high Th content, indicating magmatic origin. The LA-ICP-MS monazite U-Pb ages indicate granitic magmatism and mineralization cluster around 150 Ma, implying a close genetic link between the granite porphyry host and the quartz-zinnwaldite-topaz rock. We compared the chondrite-normalized REE distribution patterns and principal component analysis and partial least squares-discriminant analysis of the monazite analyzed, and suggested that the BSE-zoned Mnz-I, II and III are likely of the same type, significantly different from the homogenous Mnz-IV. The gray rims (under BSE) of Mnz-I, II and III are similar to Mnz-IV, and differ markedly from the bright core (under BSE) in their lower HREE and ThO 2 , but higher Eu and Eu/Eu* contents. When combined with the whole-rock composition data, the monazite compositional variation cannot be attributed to rapid changes in magma composition, depressurization, and increased water content, but rather to the increasing oxygen fugacity and the decreasing temperature and Si activity, accompanied by the elevated fractionation of granitic magma. Thus, the variation in monazite composition reflects the formation of Zhengchong Li-Rb-Cs deposit, which may be the result of high magmatic differentiation of fluorine-rich A-type magmas. Although multistage rare metal metallogenic events have been identified in the Nanling region, it is suggested that the Late Jurassic Zhengchong Li-Rb-Cs mineralization occurred within a short duration (<1 million years). Overall, the monazite chemical and geochronological signatures are good pathfinders for magmatic evolution and Li-Rb-Cs mineralization in the Jiuyishan complex, which could be used as a potential prospecting tool for highly-evolved granite-related rare metal deposits. Global climate change has become one of the most large-scale, widespread, and far-reaching challenges facing mankind. Against this background, China has proposed a "dual-carbon" target in 2020, which greatly demonstrates China's determination and commitment to carbon emission reduction, and the burden of realizing the "dual-carbon" target is mainly borne by heavy polluters. The burden of achieving the "dual-carbon" goal is mainly borne by the heavily polluting firms. Although this has increased the economic burden of the firms to a certain extent, carbon information disclosure reduces the degree of information asymmetry and also obtains the support of the government, which improves the financial performance of the firms. Based on the data of A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen in the heavy pollution industry in 2013-2023, this paper analyzes the relationship between carbon information disclosure, and corporate financial performance according to signaling theory, rent-seeking theory, and sustainable development theory. It is found that enhanced corporate carbon disclosure can significantly improve corporate financial performance, and the main effect is realized through reducing debt financing costs and increasing the proportion of institutional investors' shareholding. In the heterogeneity analysis, this paper finds that the main effect is more significant in the samples of firms located in the western region and the central region. Based on existing research, this paper deepens the study of the relationship between carbon disclosure and corporate financial performance. By integrating the multiple perspectives of signaling theory, rent-seeking theory and sustainable development theory, this paper systematically analyzes how creditors, institutional investors and other stakeholders play a role in the dynamic interaction between carbon disclosure and corporate financial performance, and reveals the motives and mechanisms behind the behaviors of these stakeholders. In order to further refine the analysis path, this paper constructs an intermediary model in order to deconstruct the deep logic of the path and mechanism through which carbon disclosure indirectly affects corporate financial performance. This model not only enhances the theoretical explanatory power, but also provides a more refined analytical framework for empirical testing, which helps to reveal the "black box" mechanism of carbon disclosure's impact on corporate financial performance. In addition, in view of China's vast territory and the uneven level of economic development between regions, this paper adopts a differentiated analysis strategy, based on the economic characteristics of the regions where the heavy polluters are located, and divides the whole sample into three sub-samples for independent regression analysis. This heterogeneity test incorporates inter-regional development differences into the scope of analysis, making the research conclusions more geographically specific and policy-guiding significance. Acer griseum (Franch.) Pax is an endangered species endemic to China, mainly scattered in the Qinling-Daba Mountains. The genetic diversity of 17 natural populations were analyzed by nuclear DNA (nDNA) and chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) to explore the driving forces for its microevolution. A high level of genetic diversity (nDNA: H e = 0.296, cpDNA: H t = 0.806) was found in A. griseum . Genetic variation was mainly within populations (92.52%) based on nDNA, while it was mainly among populations (96.26%) based on cpDNA. The seventeen populations were divided into two groups, corresponding to the subtropical zone (Group I) and temperate zone (Group II), with haplotype 4 (Hap4) and Hap5 being the most common haplotypes, respectively. Consequently, genes associated with heat and heavy metal stress were identified in Group I, while genes related to salt and drought stress were identified in Group II. Haplotype differentiation was driven by the heterogeneous microenvironment caused by the uplifting of the Qinling-Daba Mountains, which was a vital source of its high genetic diversity. Furthermore, the uplifted Qinling-Daba mountains may bridge high pollen flow among populations, whereas rivers can result in low seed flow among populations, which has led to the incongruent genetic structure between nDNA and cpDNA. This study represents a new perspective that geological events, especially orogeny, play an important role in plant microevolution through the establishment of maternal genetic structure and provides a meaningful conservation strategy for A. griseum . Overall, the Qinling-Daba Mountains not only are cradles for the genetic diversity of A. griseum but also provided refugia for it during the Quaternary glacial period.

Long-term biomonitoring of urinary metal ions is an essential tool for the epidemiological assessment of chronic exposure levels, enabling us to track changes in metal exposure over time and better understand its health implications. In this study, we evaluated the temporal trends of urinary metal ions among 1962 residents of Guangzhou, China, from 2018 to 2022. The total metal ion concentrations in the urine of the population did not change significantly between 2018 and 2019. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, urinary total metal ion concentrations began to decline dramatically, reaching their lowest level in 2021. A rebound in concentrations was observed in 2022, which returned to the initial levels observed in 2018. Urine chromium and cadmium concentrations peaked in 2020, while urinary lead levels were the highest in 2021, and urinary nickel concentrations were the highest in 2022. Males consistently displayed higher urinary concentrations of lead and arsenic throughout each year of the study. Furthermore, minors consistently had higher urinary nickel levels than adults, whereas adults consistently had higher urinary cadmium concentrations than minors. Cluster analyses were conducted annually on urinary metal ions to examine the differences in their distribution and to evaluate changes in metal exposure patterns over time. The Monte Carlo simulations indicate that the whole population exhibits a high non-carcinogenic risk from arsenic exposure and significant carcinogenic risks associated with exposure to nickel, arsenic, chromium, and cadmium. Using the sample of Chinese A-share listed firms from 2010 to 2020, this study examines the impact of non-controlling large shareholders (NCLSs) on corporate capital structure adjustment. The results show that NCLSs significantly increase the dynamic capital structure adjustment speed and reduce capital structure deviation. NCLSs have an asymmetric influence on capital structure adjustment speed for different deviation directions, i.e. compared to the speed of upward adjustment after a downward deviation of the capital structure, the effect of NCLSs on the speed of downward adjustment of the capital structure after an upward deviation is stronger. Whether in state-owned enterprises (SOEs) or non-state-owned enterprises (NSOEs), NCLSs significantly increase the dynamic capital structure adjustment speed. However, compared with SOEs, NCLSs in NSOEs have a more significant positive impact on the dynamic capital structure adjustment speed. The mechanism analysis suggests that reducing agency costs and mitigating financing constraints serve as the important channels through which NCLSs influence the dynamic adjustment of capital structure. Objectives: To investigate the impact of disease duration on clinical phenotypes in Chinese patients with primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS) and examine the correlation between clinical phenotypes and onset age, age at diagnosis, and disease duration., Methods: Data from 952 patients diagnosed with pSS in China between January 2013 and March 2022 were analyzed based on medical records. Patients were categorized into 3 groups based on disease duration: short (<5 years), moderate (≥5 and <10 years), and long (≥10 years) group. Clinical characteristics were compared among the 3 groups, and pSS patients with a long disease duration were compared with the other patients after matching age at diagnosis and age at onset., Results: Among the patients, 20.4% had a disease duration over 10 years. After matching for age at onset and age at diagnosis, pSS patients with a long disease duration exhibited a significantly higher prevalence of dry mouth ( p <0.001), dry eyes ( p <0.001), fatigue ( p <0.001), arthralgia ( p <0.001), and dental caries ( p <0.001) and higher rates of anti-Sjögren syndrome A ( p < 0.05), anti-Ro52 ( p < 0.05), and anti-SSB ( p < 0.05) positivity than their control groups, with prevalence increasing with disease duration ( ptrend < 0.001). However, no differences were noted in the prevalence of interstitial lung disease and leukopenia between different disease duration groups after matching for age at onset, although differences were shown when matching for age at diagnosis., Conclusion: Longer disease duration in pSS patients correlates with increased prevalence of sicca symptoms, fatigue, and arthralgia and higher positivity of autoantibodies associated with pSS. Objective: The leptin receptor, encoded by the LEPR gene, is involved in tumorigenesis. A potential functional variant of LEPR , rs1137101 (Gln223Arg), has been extensively investigated for its contribution to the risk of digestive system (DS) cancers, but results remain conflicting rather than conclusive. Here, we performed a case-control study and subsequent meta-analysis to examine the association between rs1137101 and DS cancer risk., Methods: A total of 1,727 patients with cancer (gastric/liver/colorectal: 460/480/787) and 800 healthy controls were recruited. Genotyping of rs1137101 was conducted using a polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) assay and confirmed using Sanger sequencing. Twenty-four eligible studies were included in the meta-analysis., Results: After Bonferroni correction, the case-control study revealed that rs1137101 was significantly associated with the risk of liver cancer in the Hubei Chinese population. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) formula granules are highly praised for the advanced, convenient, and modern use of Chinese medicinal materials. The safety of TCM formula granules has long been a concern of regulatory authorities and the medical industry. A multi-center, prospective, open, non-interventional, and centralized monitoring was carried out for the patients treated with TCM formula granules in 252 medical institutions from February 5, 2020 to April 19, 2022. All the case data and the incidence of adverse drug reactions/events were recorded. This study evaluated the safety of TCM formula granules, aiming to provide a reference for the clinically use. A total of 20 547 patients were included in this study. Four adverse events were recorded, including 3 adverse drug reactions with an adverse drug reaction rate of 0.015%, all of which occurred in the digestive system. There was no serious adverse event, and no factors related to adverse drug reactions/events were identified. The incidence of adverse drug reactions/events associated with China Resources Sanjiu Medical & Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. TCM formula granules was rare, which proved their safety in clinical use. A comprehensive data mining and objective analysis was carried out for the medicines with high frequency in TCM formula granules, the commonly used medicine pairs and combinations, and departmental medication. The drug use characteristics, prescription rules, and departmental use of TCM formula granules were summarized, which can shed light on the prescription compatibility and clinical application.

With the deepening of China's health-care reform, an integrated delivery system has gradually emerged with the function of improving the efficiency of the health-care delivery system. For China's integrated delivery system, a medical consortium plays an important role in integrating public hospitals and primary care facilities. The first medical consortium policy issued after the COVID-19 pandemic apparently placed hope on accelerating the implementation of a medical consortium and tiered health-care delivery system. This paper illustrates the possible future pathway of China's medical consortium through retrospection of the 10-year process, changes of the series of policies, and characteristics of the policy issued in 2020. We considered that a fully integrated medical consortium would be a major phenomenon in China's medical industry, which would lead to the formation of a dualistic care pattern in China., (© 2022. Introduction: Health literacy (HL) has been concerned a key factor for determining the use of health information and promoting health. The study aimed to explore the relationship between different health literacy types and health promoting lifestyle (HPL) in different health literacy population., Methods: The survey analyzed a sample of 16,921 community residents in Shenzhen. The Chinese Citizen Health Literacy Questionnaire and health-promoting lifestyle profile II (HPLP- II) were used to assess health literacy and health promoting lifestyle., Results: Participants were divided into different populations based on the correlation between HL and HPL. The low-HL and medium-HL populations were judged to lack health literacy, and demographic characteristics were significantly different between different HPL levels in low-HL and medium-HL populations. There were 6 types of HL, and health information literacy (β = 0.08, P < 0.001) and chronic disease literacy (β = 0.08, P < 0.001) positively predicted HPL in the low-HL population. In the medium-HL population, the results of reward and punishment analysis showed that health information was a basic factor, chronic disease was performance factor, medical care was a motivating factor for HPL; there were 6 dimensions of HPL, and health responsibility (HR), stress management (SM) and physical activity (PA) were not significantly different in medium-HL population. The results of regression analysis showed that HR and PA had a great impact on HPL (HR: β = 0.193, PA: β =0.179, β for other dimensions was 0.186, 0.176, 0.171, 0.164), but the HR and PA standardized scores were lowest in the HPL dimensions (HR: 69.42, PA: 68.5, lower than other dimensions), so it may be HR and PA that cause HPL unchanged between groups in the medium-HL population., Conclusions: Different HL levels have different relationships with HPL, and different HL types have different effects on HPL. Shenzhen community residents need to improve their HL, and they have great potentials for further progress to improve the population health. Background: Few studies have investigated the effects of air pollutants on children with acute bronchitis. This study aimed to explore the acute effects of four air pollutants [fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ), inhalable particulate matter (PM 10 ), sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), and nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 )] on the daily number of children admitted to the hospital for acute bronchitis in Sichuan Province, China., Methods: The 49,975 records of hospitalized children with acute bronchitis from medical institutions in nine cities/prefectures, Sichuan Province, China, as well as the simultaneous meteorological data and air pollution data from 183 monitoring sites, were collected from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2018. A generalized additive model was adopted to analyze the exposure-response and lag effects of hospitalizations of children with acute bronchitis to air pollutants. Stratified analyses were conducted based on sex, age, and season., Results: The single-pollutant model showed that a 10 µg/m 3 increase at lag07 of PM 2.5 , PM 10 , SO 2 , and NO 2 corresponded to an increase of 1.23% [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.21-2.26%], 1.33% (95% CI 0.62-2.05%), 23.52% (95% CI 11.52-36.81%), and 12.47% (95% CI 8.46-16.64%) in daily hospitalizations for children with acute bronchitis, respectively. Children aged 0-2 were more prone to PM 2.5 (P < 0.05). Interestingly, the effects were stronger in the warm season than in transition seasons and the cool season for PM 2.5 and PM 10 (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The higher daily average concentrations of four pollutants in Sichuan Province can result in an increased number of children hospitalized for acute bronchitis., (© 2022. Essential oils from Chinese medicine are popular in the fields such as medicine, food, and cosmetics because of their unique biological characteristics. However, since essential oils are lipophilic compounds with high volatility, poor stability, and strong irritation, various preparation technologies need to be employed to improve stability, reduce irritation, and increase bioavailability. At present, a variety of preparation technologies have been applied to the encapsulation of essential oils. Various encapsulation strategies are formed because of different delivery systems featured with multiple principles and characteristics and are widely used to improve the stability of essential oils. Essential oils of Chinese medicine are widely used in the medical field, and they are under continuous innovation and development in clinical research, the pharmaceutical industry, medical products, etc. The present study summarized various delivery systems that could improve the stability of essential oils and reviewed the applications of essential oils encapsulated in the delivery systems in the medical field to provide re-ferences for the improvement of stability of essential oils and their safety, efficiency, and wide use in the medical field.

High-temperature environment-induced heat stress (HS) is a hazard environmental element for animals, leading to dramatic changes in physiological and metabolic function. However, the metabolomic-level mechanisms underlying lipid metabolism in liver of slow-growing broilers are still obscure. The present study investigated the effects of HS on hepatic lipidomics in Chinese indigenous slow-growing broilers (Huaixiang chickens). The study includes two treatments, each treatment had 5 replicates with 4 broilers per cage, where a total of 40 eight-week-old female Huaixiang chickens (average initial body weight of 840.75 ± 20.79 g) were randomly divided into normal temperature (NT) and HS groups for 4 weeks, and the broilers of NT and HS groups were exposed to 21.3 ± 1.2℃ and 32.5 ± 1.4℃ respectively. The relative humidity of the two groups was maintained at 55%-70%. The liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)-based metabolomics were conducted to evaluate the changes in hepatic lipidomics of broilers. The results showed that there were 12 differential metabolites between the two treatments. Compared with the NT group, HS group reduced the levers of hepatic phosphatidylcholine (PC) (16:0/16:0), PC (16:0/18:2), triglyceride (TG) (16:0/16:1/18:1), TG (18:0/18:1/20:4) (VIP > 1 and p < 0.05), while increased PC (18:1/20:3), PC (18:0/18:1), PC (18:1/18:1), PC (18:0/22:5), dimethyl-phosphatidyl ethanolamine (dMePE) (14:0/18:3), dMePE (18:0/18:1) and dMePE (16:0/20:3) levels (Variable Importance in the Projection; VIP > 1 and p < 0.05). In addition, according to the analysis of metabolic pathway, the pathways of linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, glycerolipid and glycerophospholipid metabolism were involved in the effects of HS on hepatic lipid metabolism of broilers (p < 0.05). In conclusion, HS altered the hepatic lipid metabolism mainly through linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, glycerolipid and glycerophospholipid metabolism pathway in indigenous broilers. In recent years, the impact of new major infectious diseases on people's normal life is becoming more and more frequent, which has brought great impact on people's life safety and social economy, especially the corona virus disease 2019, which has been sweeping the globe. Public health and disease prevention and control systems in different countries have different performances in response to the pandemic, but they all have exposed many shortcomings. Countries around the world urgently need to improve the monitoring, early warning and emergency response systems for new major infectious diseases. As the outpost and main part of medical rescue, the hospital urgently needs to establish a set of scientifically advanced emergency response mechanism that is suitable for the business process of the medical system and unified standards in order to improve the response efficiency and quality of emergency treatment.

Aim: To investigate the relationship between Apolipoprotein C3 (APOC3) (-455T>C) polymorphism and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in the Southern Chinese Han population., Methods: In this prospective case-control study, we recruited 300 NAFLD patients and 300 healthy controls to a cohort representing Southern Chinese Han population at The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, from January to December 2012. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism and DNA sequencing were used to genotype the APOC3 (-455T>C) variants., Results: After adjusting for age, gender, and body-mass index, TC and CC genotypes were found to increase the susceptibility to NAFLD compared to the TT genotype, with adjusted odds ratios (ORs) of 1.77 (95%CI: 1.16-2.72) and 2.80 (95%CI: 1.64-4.79), respectively. Further stratification analysis indicated that carriers of the CC genotype was more susceptible to insulin resistance (IR) than those of the TT genotype, with an OR of 3.24 (95%CI: 1.52-6.92). The CC genotype also was associated with a significantly higher risk of hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, and low levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) (P < 0.05). No association was found between the APOC3 (-455T>C) polymorphism and obesity, impaired glucose tolerance, hyperuricemia, hypercholesterolemia, or high levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) (P > 0.05)., Conclusion: APOC3 (-455T>C) genetic variation is involved in the susceptibility to developing NAFLD, IR, hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, and low HDL in the Southern Chinese Han population.
