Predicting the water abundance of coal‐bearing strata is crucial for ensuring mining safety. However, owing to the dispersion and attenuation characteristics caused by pore fluid flow, it is difficult to estimate the water abundance of coal seam roof aquifers using seismic data. To overcome this challenge, we provide the relationship between the frequency‐dependent seismic wave velocity and water saturation based on the Chapman fracture model and the mixing fluid model. We propose a seismic dispersion attribute technique that can use dispersion information as an indicator of water abundance. Numerical experiment results show that the water saturation of the sandstone aquifer is positively correlated with the dispersion attribute. The results of low‐frequency rock physical experiments are roughly consistent with those predicted by the model for the given parameters. Using seismic dispersion attribute inversion and the frequency slice wavelet transform method, we predicted the water abundance of sandstone in the coal seam roof of the Yuwang coal mine in Yunnan Province, China. The predicted sandstone water abundance was compatible with the actual water‐rich scenario observed in well logs and downhole drilling in the study area. Goose astrovirus (GoAstV) has frequently been isolated in China since it was first identified as the etiological agent of visceral gout in goslings in 2017. However, the actual prevalence of GoAstV infection and its economic impact on commercial goose production remain poorly characterized. Here, virus detection and serological testing were conducted to determine the extent of GoAstV infection in commercial goose flocks. We detected GoAstV RNA in 2% (6/300) of dead-in-shell embryos and day-old hatched goslings by RT-PCR, indicating vertical transmission under natural conditions. Using a virus neutralization test, GoAstV antibodies were detected in 41.7%–61.1% of serum samples from four commercial goose flocks, indicating that infections were common. To determine the virus types circulating in the commercial flocks, we isolated 15 GoAstVs from goose tissue samples from farms located in five provinces during 2018–2022. Genomic sequence analysis showed that all sequences were corresponded to GoAstV group 2 (GoAstV-2) but were assigned into three capsid subgroups based on sequence variations in the capsid protein. Representative isolates of capsid subgroups were also antigenically evaluated using cross-neutralization tests in LMH cell cultures. The antigenic relatedness values (R) calculated using the Horsfall formula were between 62% and 86%, indicating that no significant antigenic differences exist between the isolates. Artemisia argyi Levl. et Van is an important Asteraceae species with a high medicinal value. There are abundant A. argyi germplasm resources in Asia, especially in China, but the evolutionary relationships of these varieties and the systematic localization of A. argyi in the family Asteraceae are still unclear. In this study, the chloroplast (cp) genomes of 72 A. argyi varieties were systematically analyzed. The 72 varieties originated from 47 regions in China at different longitudes, latitudes and altitudes, and included both wild and cultivated varieties. The A. argyi cp genome was found to be ∼151 kb in size and to contain 114 genes, including 82 protein-coding, 28 tRNA, and 4 rRNA genes. The number of short sequence repeats (SSRs) in A. argyi cp genomes ranged from 35 to 42, and most of them were mononucleotide A/T repeats. A total of 196 polymorphic sites were detected in the cp genomes of the 72 varieties. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that the genetic relationship between A. argyi varieties had a weak relationship with their geographical distribution. Furthermore, inverted repeat (IR) boundaries of 10 Artemisia species were found to be significantly different. A sequence divergence analysis of Asteraceae cp genomes showed that the variable regions were mostly located in single-copy (SC) regions and that the coding regions were more conserved than the non-coding regions. A phylogenetic tree was constructed using 43 protein-coding genes common to 67 Asteraceae species. The resulting tree was consistent with the traditional classification system; Artemisia species were clustered into one group, and A. argyi was shown to be closely related to Artemisia lactiflora and Artemisia montana. In summary, this study systematically analyzed the cp genome characteristics of A. argyi and compared cp genomes of Asteraceae species. The results provide valuable information for the definitive identification of A. argyi varieties and for the understanding of the evolutionary relationships between Asteraceae species. This paper reports a novel poplar mosaic disease that occurred on the leaves of Populus alba var. pyramidalis in China. Symptoms: mosaic and chlorosis leaves, leaf abscission, leaf and young branch withering, leaf growth retard, and the destroyed and hollowed cell structures of mesophyll cells in the diseased leaves. Electron microscopy observation showed that some typical (flexible rods, virus particles 10–14 nm in width, and ca. 700 nm in length) and atypical virus particles (1400 or 2000 nm in length) of genus Potyvirus were found in the leaf exudates of the diseased poplar. De novo assembly assembled a nearly complete genome sequence of bean common mosaic virus (BCMV, 10035 nt in length) from the transcriptome sequencing data of poplar leaves. Moreover, field observation illustrated that two larvae of white-striped longhorn beetle (Batocera lineolata) inhabited and almost completely destroyed the main branch and roots of the diseased poplar plant, and a high-density population of two Chaitophorus aphid species once infected poplar plants before the occurrence of mosaic symptoms. Results suggested that BCMV is the pathogen of this novel poplar mosaic disease; moreover, results also suggested beetle and aphids that might involve in the occurrence and development of poplar mosaic disease. • This study reported the symptoms and ultra-structral a novel mosaic disease that occurred in Populus alba var. pyramidalis in China. • Near complete genome sequence of BCMV (bean common mosaic virus) and BCMV-like virus particles suggested that BCMV was associated with the occurrence of poplar mosaic disease. Salmonella infection not only causes acute and chronic diseases in poultry flocks, but the infected poultry are among the most important reservoirs for a variety of Salmonella serovars frequently transmitted to humans. This study aimed to investigate the occurrence of Salmonella spp. in local poultry farms in China. Samples (n = 4255), including dead-in-shell embryos, culled day-old-hatchings and 1- to 4-week-old diseased birds, were collected for Salmonella culture from broiler chicken, meat-type duck and pigeon farms in northern China between 2014 and 2018. A total of 103 Salmonella were isolated. S.enterica serovar Enteritidis and S. Typhimurium were the most prevalent serovars, representing 53.4% and 34.9% of the isolates, respectively. Serovar diversity was the highest in ducks, with the S. Apeyeme being isolated for the first time from duck tissues. All isolates were characterized by multilocus sequence typing (MLST) and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). MLST showed that all S. Enteritidis isolates shared the same sequence type (ST11), and Typhimurium showed several rare STs in addition to ST19. In comparison, PFGE showed better discrimination for S. Enteritidis and S. Typhimurium isolates, with nine distinct pulsotypes being observed. The isolates exhibited varying degrees of resistance to 15 tested antimicrobials and identified S. Enteritidis isolates (98.18%) with multiple antimicrobial resistance were a cause for concern. Our data on invasive Salmonella infection in meat-type poultry in local farms can be used to identify sources and factors associated with Salmonella spread in poultry and the associated food chain. The rhizome of Belamcanda chinensis (belamcanda sinensis/Shegan) is an important traditional Chinese medicine, which is often used to treat lung diseases. However, soft rot disease seriously threatens the production of B. chinensis , causing its rhizomes to rot and the entire plant to die. Based on morphological characteristic and multigenic phylogenetic analyses of 16S rDNA, pel (pectate lyases encoding genes) and mdh (malic dehydrogenase encoding genes), the pathogenic isolates were identified as Dickeya fangzhongdai. One representative isolate SG-17 was selected for biological characteristics and pathogenicity tests analysis. The results showed that the optimum temperature and pH for SG-17 growth were 28 °C and pH 6, respectively. SG-17 caused typical soft rot symptoms on healthy B. chinensis plants, and produced symptoms of similar severity on Iris japonica (fringed iris) and Iris tectorum (iris), the other two species in Iridaceae family of economic and ornamental importance. Moreover, we also evaluated the impact of SG-17 on the contents of bioactive ingredients in B. chinensis rhizomes. The results show that the contents of tectorigenin and irigenin of B. chinensis rhizomes were increased significantly after infected with SG-17, while the contents of irisflorentin was decreased. As revealed by bactericides screen experiments, Ethylicin and Carbendazim · tetramethylthiuram disulfide exhibited good antibacterial activities, which could be used as the preferred agents for the control of soft rot of B. chinensis. As far as we know, this is the first report of Dickeya fangzhongdai causing soft rot on B. chinensis in the world. • This is the first report of soft rot disease of Belamcanda. chinensis caused by Dickeya fangzhongdai. • The optimum growth condition of D. fangzhongdai was at pH 6.0 and 28 °C. • Four bactericides showed good inhibition effects, among which Ethylicin showed significantly effective antibacterial ability. • The contents of tectorigenin and irigenin in rhizomes of infected by D. fanghzongdai were much higher than those in control groups. Background China has a large and aging population. The need for physicians with training in clinical neurosciences will grow. There is little known regarding the factors that lead physicians in China to pursue careers in clinical neurosciences. The objective of this study was to garner a clearer understanding of factors that influence physicians to pursue careers in neurosurgery and neurology in China. Methods We surveyed attendees at a national neuroscience conference on the factors that influence their pursuit of careers in clinical neurosciences. Responses were quantified on a Likert scale. One-way analysis of variance was used to compare different groups of respondents. Results Factors associated with the intellectual elements of the specialties were rated most highly. Differences were noted between respondents, with trainees rating lifestyle-related factors more highly compared with attending physicians. Conclusions The intellectual challenges are important factors for physicians in China influencing the pursuit of careers in the clinical neurosciences. This finding echoes results found elsewhere in the world. However, differences with trainees elsewhere in the world emerge when evaluating additional factors influencing trainees pursuing careers in the clinical neurosciences. Trainees in China rate educational experiences and mentorship more highly, whereas U.S. trainees rate altruistic goals more highly. In this study, the widely used varieties in China were selected to explore the low starch digestive properties of highland barley from three aspects of composition, starch structural orders, and kernel structure. Two digestive systems were constructed, with highland barley in flour and chyme forms, to investigate the contribution of these inherent properties to starch digestion under different physical forms. Compared with white and black highland barley, blue varieties showed poor chemical composition, lower starch crystallinity, and higher short-range structural order degree, but the starch digestibility as flour was only slightly higher. All varieties of chyme demonstrated lower starch digestibility compared to flour; however, blue highland barley chyme showed much lower starch digestibility than other chyme. Furthermore, kernel structural analysis showed that the blue highland barley kernel structure effectively inhibited digestion. Drawing upon conservation of resource theory, we identify a bright side as well as a potential dark side of conscientiousness, and thus regard conscientiousness as a mixed blessing. Analysis of data gathered across two waves from 203 employees in China showed that, although conscientiousness enhanced self-efficacy, which in turn promoted thriving at work, it also increased performance pressure, which in turn decreased thriving at work. Equity in the inheritance culture of family property is an important component of humanistic health in modern living environments. The inheritance of property under Chinese traditional family culture is the material basis for the continuation of family and clan. This study demonstrates the equity component embedded in traditional family inheritance culture and further studies of the healthy human settlements environment. Based on the theory of "equal share for all sons" in ancient China and the "equity" and "justice" that are of modern significance, this paper analyzes the family division culture of individual traditional housing and the corresponding impact indices of family division equity. Taking Renhe Village, a typical local residential building of the middle and late Qing Dynasty as the research object, this study built a spatial syntax data model and 3D simulation technology for the simulation analysis of space and climate. The results show that Renhe Village meets the requirements of the equity evaluation system of housing property rights distribution in terms of the natural unit indicator (quantity, lighting, ventilation) and the overall spatial indicator (privacy, centrality, convenience). In other words, equity does not mean an absolute average share, but an equity culture formed after six evaluation indices under the subdivision of two indicators are balanced. Based on the above, an equity system model of housing property rights distribution was established, and the weight of the ancients' attention to the housing distribution standard was explored. It is further found that the ancients attached more importance to light among the natural unit indicators, and attached the most importance to centrality in the overall spatial indicators. These findings provide new ideas for understanding the equity of property inheritance under Chinese traditional family culture. Chrysanthemum Flos is the prestigious traditional Chinese medicinal material and the popular health drink. This article comprehensively evaluated the chemical constituents, antioxidant activity, and hepatoprotective effects of 25 common chrysanthemum varieties in China. Firstly, we analyzed the chemical compositions of water extracts of chrysanthemum using UPLC/Q-TOF-MS, and identified 29 chemical components. The results displayed that chrysanthemum was rich in chemical constituents, but there were significant differences in the contents of four phenolic acids and five flavonoids among different varieties, and the coefficient of variation (CVs) ranged from 35.96 % to 114.62 %. Then, the antioxidant activities of different chrysanthemums were investigated, respectively via 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS), and Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) assays. The spectrum-effect relationships between nine main components and antioxidant activities were investigated to identify the antioxidant constitutes in chrysanthemums. Meanwhile, H 2 O 2 -induced hepatocyte injury testing showed wide variation in cultivar antioxidant capacity, with Tongchengju (TCJ) producing the best effect (90.32 %), followed by Chuju (CJ; 85.78 %). In addition, the hepatoprotective effects of 8 mainstream varieties were determined by the model of acute alcoholic liver injury. They protected liver from injury by affecting relevant liver function and antioxidant indexes. Huangshangongju (HSG) could decrease aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity by 39.27 % in liver tissue; Hangju-Fubaiju (HJ-FBJ), Jinsihuangju (JSH), and Chuju (CJ) significantly decreased the malondialdehyde (MDA) content of liver tissue, which reduced by more than 40 %; Jinsihuangju (JSH) of used for tea could double the content of glutathione (GSH) and had the similar effect on superoxide dismutase (SOD) as the positive group, showing significant antioxidant capacity. Therefore, this study confirmed that chrysanthemums are potential resources as antioxidants, functional foods, and medicinal materials. Aim: The first training center for nurse anesthetists in Jiangsu Province, China was established. The aim of this study is to understand the status of and effectiveness of a training program based on International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists (IFNA) standards for nurse anesthetists in China., Background: China recently issued a clear policy to improve the quality of anesthesia care and to ensure the safety and comfort of patients. As a result, the roles of nurse anesthetists have received more attention, highlighting the importance of the development and implementation of relevant training., Introduction: IFNA standards were applied to the development of a specialized training program for nurse anesthetists, which is expected to serve as a reference for various medical institutions and to lead to increased uniformity and improvement in the quality and efficiency of care., Methods: These standards are divided into two indicators: curriculum and core competencies. Through questionnaires, course evaluations, and satisfaction surveys before and after the implementation of the training program, the effectiveness of the training program was analyzed., Results: Theoretical assessment of the program was higher after its completion than before and the core competencies of nurse anesthetists significantly improved. Overall, the curriculum was highly satisfactory and important., Discussion: Curriculum design was based on IFNA standards. Nurse anesthetists who are trained in a systematic way can work better with other professionals in providing anesthesia care. The objectives are to improve anesthesia care, reduce errors, improve physician satisfaction, and allow nurse anesthetists to realize their value. Background and Objectives: Since December 2019, the rapid epidemic spread of COVID-19 in China has aroused the attention of the government and the public. The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitude and knowledge among medical students and non-medical students toward SARS-CoV-2 infection., Methods: A web-based survey was disseminated to the students from medical colleges and comprehensive universities via the survey website (www.wjx.cn) and via WeChat. Participation in the study was voluntary with the instruction to click on the website or scan the QR code to complete the anonymous electronic questionnaire from February 5 to 7, 2020., Results: The questionnaire was completed by 588 students from 20 colleges and universities in China. Of the respondents, 66.0% were medical students and 34.0% were non-medical students. 99.6 % of the students held an optimistic attitude toward the COVID-19 epidemic situation. The majority of participants had a good level of knowledge of common symptoms, transmission, and prevention of the disease. In a comparison between non-medical students with medical students, the medical students had a deeper understanding of COVID-19. In this study, we also found that female students had a better understanding of transmission and prevention than male students did., Conclusions: The majority of students who participated in the questionnaire had a positive attitude and a good perception about COVID-19., (Copyright © 2020 The Author(s). Abstarct: The relationship between chronic kidney disease (CKD), which is defined by declined estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and/or proteinuria, and asymptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis (ICAS) is largely unknown. We conducted a population-based, cross-sectional study by recruiting 5209 participants free of previous stroke, transient ischemic attack and coronary heart disease. eGFR was calculated using the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) formula and proteinuria was estimated with urine dipstick. The presence of ICAS was assessed by transcranial color-coded Doppler (TCD). Out of the whole population, 684 (13.1%) participants suffered ICAS. After adjusting for the confounding factors, eGFR < 45 ml/min/m 2 was an independent risk factor of asymptomatic ICAS (odds ratio [OR], 3.29, 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.67-6.51), but the trend was different between the two groups stratified by the age of 60 (P = 0.01). However, the association between proteinuria and asymptomatic ICAS was not statistically significant. In conclusion, declined eGFR, not proteinuria, is associated with asymptomatic ICAS in Chinese general population, especially in people over 60 years old.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a cardiovascular disease with high heterogeneity. Limited knowledge concerning the genetic background of nearly 40% HCM cases indicates there is a clear need for further investigation to explore the genetic pathogenesis of the disease. In this study, we undertook a whole exome sequencing (WES) approach to identify novel candidate genes and mutations associated with HCM. The cohort consisted of 74 unrelated patients with sporadic HCM (sHCM) previously determined to be negative for mutations in eight sarcomere genes. The results showed that 7 of 74 patients (9.5%) had damaging mutations in 43 known HCM disease genes. Furthermore, after analysis combining the Transmission and De novo Association (TADA) program and the ToppGene program, 10 putative genes gained priority. A thorough review of public databases and related literature revealed that there is strong supporting evidence for most of the genes playing roles in various aspects of heart development. Findings from recent studies suggest that the putative and known disease genes converge on three functional pathways: sarcomere function, calcium signaling and metabolism pathway. This study illustrates the benefit of WES, in combination with rare variant analysis tools, in providing valuable insight into the genetic etiology of a heterogeneous sporadic disease.

Multiple genome-wide association studies of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) in both European and Japanese ancestries have shown significant associations of many genetic loci contributing to the susceptibility to PBC. Major differences in susceptibility loci between these two population groups were observed. In this study, we examined whether the most significant loci observed in either European and/or Japanese cohorts are associated with PBC in a Han Chinese population. In 1070 PBC patients and 1198 controls, we observed highly significant associations at CD80 (rs2293370, P = 2.67 × 10(-8)) and TNFSF15 (rs4979462, P = 3.86 × 10(-8)) and significant associations at 17q12-21 (rs9303277), PDGFB (rs715505), NF-κB1 (rs7665090), IL12RB2 (rs11209050), and STAT4 (rs7574865; all corrected P values <0.01). However, no association was observed for POU2AF1 (rs4938534), IL12A (rs485499 and rs2366408), IL7R (rs6897932), CXCR5 (rs715412), SOCS1 (rs725613), and TNFRSF1A (rs1800693). STAT4 (rs7574865) was strongly associated after additional control samples were analyzed. Our study is the first large-scale genetic analysis in a Han Chinese PBC cohort. These results do not only reflect that Han Chinese PBC patients share common genetic susceptibility genes with both their Japanese and European counterparts but also suggest a distinctly different genetic susceptibility profile.

Objective: To assess the association of VKORC1 gene -1639G/A polymorphism with atrial fibrillation (AF) in ethnic Uygurs and Hans from Xinjiang., Methods: The above polymorphism was detected among 100 Uygur and 102 Han AF patients and 103 Uygur and 111 Han subjects that have no AF with polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method., Results: A statistically significant difference was detected between the patient and control groups of Uygur origin in terms of genotypic and allelic frequencies (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis also indicated the -1639G/A polymorphism as an independent risk factor for AF in Uygur population (OR=2.085, 95% CI: 1.067-4.072, P=0.031). No similar statistical difference was found between the patient and control groups of Han origin (P>0.05)., Conclusion: The -1639G/A polymorphism of VKORC1 gene is associated with AF in the Uygur population but not in Hans.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) reverses structural remodeling of the left ventricle. We investigated whether CRT reverses left-ventricular electrical remodeling.Eighty patients were enrolled and implanted with CRT-devices. Echocardiography and electrocardiography data were obtained from each patient prior to implantation and two years after implantation. At two years after implantation, the patients were classified into a responder group and a non-responder group based on echocardiography.Over the next 2 years, 75 patients completed follow-up, and 5 patients had died. Echocardiography results showed that 23 patients could be classified as non-responders and 52 as responders. Larger numbers of non-responders were diagnosed with either ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) or nonspecific intraventricular conduction delay (NICD). The intrinsic QRS duration was not changed in responders, patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, or in the patient categories of male and female. However, the intrinsic QRS duration was significantly prolonged in non-responders and patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (P = 0.041). The mean left ventricular end-diastolic diameter in the responder group was significantly decreased by CRT (P < 0.05), while there was no significant change in intrinsic QRS duration.While CRT does not reduce the intrinsic QRS duration, it can delay negative ventricular electrical remodeling. Continuous CRT is necessary.

Studies have showed an association between type 2 diabetes and breast cancer in Western countries. The association should be confirmed in an Asian population which has a lower incidence of breast cancer. Our study aimed to compare the clinicopathologic characteristics of breast cancers in women with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus in China. Each group included 143 cases, similar in parity, body mass index, family history, mode of diagnosis, menarche age and hormone receptors except for progesterone receptor (PR). The diabetic patients were older, with a mean age of 58.3±10 years and the percentage of postmenopausal patients was 52%, which was higher than non-diabetic patients. Significant differences were found in tumor stage, the amounts of lymph node and with metastasis, these persisting after adjustment for age. Furthermore, a positive association with higher TNM status and PR negative rate was noticed in premenopausal but not postmenopausal diabetic patients. Our results indicate that type 2 diabetes mellitus is a negative prognostic factor for breast cancer, especially in premenopausal women.

Mounting evidence suggests that all organisms at the cellular level respond to stress by synthesizing heat shock proteins at the expense of other proteins, and the ability of human cells to respond to heat stress decreases with aging. We thus investigate the association of 3 variants (A1267G in HSPA1B, G190C in HSPA1A, and T2437C in HSPA1L) in the heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) family with natural longevity in a Xinjiang Hetian Uygur population. A case-control study was conducted in 191 healthy individuals greater than 90 years of age, and 53 naturally died persons 65-70 years of age. Promoter activity was evaluated by luciferase reporter assays. The data were analyzed using an EH/EH+ program for haplotype prediction and MDR software for gene-gene interaction. All studied variants satisfied the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in each group. In single-locus analysis, no significant differences were found between long-lived people and short-lived people in the genotype/allele distributions of all variants. In contrast, haplotype analysis indicated that haplotypes A-G-C and A-C-T were more prevalent in long-lived people than short-lived people (P=0.026 and 0.017), and the analysis conferred a 3.46- and 4.51-fold increased tendency for longevity, respectively (P=0.025 and 0.016). The haplotype results were strengthened by interaction analysis, which suggests an optimal model in which G190C and T2437C exert an interacting effect on longevity. No functional significance was observed between 190G and 190C alleles in both control and heat-inducible A549 cells (P>0.05). Taken together, our findings suggested that common genetic variants in Hsp70 family might contribute interactively to longevity the Xinjiang Hetian Uygur population.
