Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Chinese medicine (CM) in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in China. Methods: A multi-center retrospective cohort study was carried out, with cumulative CM treatment period of ⩾3 days during hospitalization as exposure. Data came from consecutive inpatients from December 19, 2019 to May 16, 2020 in 4 medical centers in Wuhan, China. After data extraction, verification and cleaning, confounding factors were adjusted by inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW), and the Cox proportional hazards regression model was used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 2,272 COVID-19 patients were included. There were 1,684 patients in the CM group and 588 patients in the control group. Compared with the control group, the hazard ratio (HR) for the deterioration rate in the CM group was 0.52 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.41 to 0.64, P<0.001]. The results were consistent across patients of varying severity at admission, and the robustness of the results were confirmed by 3 sensitivity analyses. In addition, the HR for all-cause mortality in the CM group was 0.29 (95% CI: 0.19 to 0.44, P<0.001). Regarding of safety, the proportion of patients with abnormal liver function or renal function in the CM group was smaller. Conclusion: This real-world study indicates that the combination of a full-course CM therapy on the basic conventional treatment, may safely reduce the deterioration rate and all-cause mortality of COVID-19 patients. This result can provide the new evidence to support the current treatment of COVID-19. Data on discrete, isolated attributes of the marine economy are often used in traditional marine economic research. However, as the focus of urban research shifts from internal static attributes to external dynamic linkages, the importance of marine economic network research is beginning to emerge. The construction of the marine economic network in China's coastal areas is necessary to change the flow of land and sea resources and optimize regional marine economic development. Employing data from headquarters and branches of sea-related A-share listed enterprises to construct the marine economic network in China, we use social network analysis (SNA) to discuss the characteristics of its evolution as of 2010, 2015, and 2020 and its governance. The following results were obtained. 1) In terms of topological characteristics, the scale of the marine economic network in China's coastal areas has accelerated and expanded, and the connections have become increasingly close; thus, this development has complex network characteristics. 2) In terms of spatial structure, the intensity of the connection fluctuates and does not form stable development support; the group structure gradually becomes clear, but the overall pattern is fragmented; there are spatial differences in marine economic agglomeration radiation; the radiation effect of the eastern marine economic circle is obvious; and the polarization effect of northern and southern marine economic circles is significant. On this basis, we construct a framework for the governance of a marine economic network with the market, the government, and industry as the three governing bodies. By clarifying the driving factors and building objectives of marine economic network construction, this study aims to foster the high-quality development of China's marine economy. Background: This meta-analysis was dedicated to evaluating the effectiveness and safety of Atezolizumab plus Bevacizumab (Atez/Bev) and Lenvatinib (LEN) as first-line systematic therapy for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (u-HCC). Methods: The prospective protocol for this study was registered with the PROSPERO (Registration number: CRD42022356874). Literature searches were conducted in PubMed, EMBASE database Cochrane Library, and Web Science to determine all clinical controlled studies that reported Atez/Bev and LEN for treating u-HCC. We. evaluated as primary end-point overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), as well as other outcomes such as tumor response and adverse events (AEs).Quality assessment and data extraction of studies were conducted independently by three reviewers. Mean difference (MD) and odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated using a fixed-effects or random-effects model. The meta-analysis was performed with RevMan 5.3 software. Results: 12 retrospective cohort studies (RCSs) involving a total of 4948 patients were finally included. The results showed that compared with LEN, Atez/Bev can improve the patient's PFS (HR = 0.80, 95% CI: 0.72 ~ 0.88; p < 0.0001) and reduce the rate of overall AEs (OR = 0.46 95% CI: 0.38 ~ 0.55, p < 0.00001) and grade ≥ 3 AEs (OR = 0.43; 95% CI: 0.36 ~ 0.51, p < 0.00001), while there is no difference between OS and treatment responses rate (objective response rate, disease control rate, complete response, partial response, progressive disease, and stable disease) between two groups. In addition, the subgroup analysis shows that Atez/Bev can promote the OS of patients with viral hepatitis. (HR = 0.79, 95% CI: 0.67 ~ 0.95; p = 0.01), while LEN has an advantage in improving OS in patients with Child-Pugh grade B liver function (HR = 1.98, 95% CI: 1.50 ~ 2.63; p < 0.00001). Conclusion: Current evidence shows that compared with LEN, Atez/Bev has more advantages in PFS and safety in treating u-HCC and can improve the OS of patients with viral. LEN has advantages in improving the OS of patients with grade B liver function. However, more multicenter randomized controlled experiments are needed in the future to verify our results. Using data from the China Education Panel Survey, this study examines the impact of homework time on academic performance among Chinese junior high school students. The findings show that seventh and ninth graders spend 2.28 and 2.67 hours daily on homework, respectively, exceeding the 90-minute limit stipulated by the "double reduction" policy. Homework time significantly varies by gender, grade, and region. The relationship between homework time and the academic performance of junior high school students follows an inverted U-shaped pattern. Ordinary Least Squares analysis indicates that the optimal homework time for maximizing academic performance is less than 0.96 hours per day. Beyond the threshold, the positive effect diminishes, and when homework time exceeds 4.07 hours, it negatively impacts academic performance. Mediating effect analysis shows that excessive homework time leads to negative emotions, such as boredom, unhappiness, frustration, and sadness while depriving students of necessary sleep for healthy growth. Copper slag is a residue from the copper smelting process that not only takes up large amounts of space, but also contains harmful elements that can cause environmental pollution. In this paper, zinc in copper slag is sulfide-roasted using pyrite as a vulcanizing agent and anthracite and K2CO3 as additives, thus leaving zinc in the slag mainly in the form of ZnS. After sulfurization roasting, the slag can be stripped of Zn by flotation, and the remaining iron can be further applied in the blast furnace ironmaking process. The effects of temperature, holding time, pyrite addition, and K2CO3 addition on the Zn sulfation rate were investigated. The results showed that when pyrite, anthracite, and K2CO3 were added to the slag in amounts of 35, 2, and 10 pct of the slag's original mass, respectively, the total Zn in the slag was 3.16 pct, and its sulfuration rate was 83.5 pct. When pyrite was used to sulfide and dezincify copper bottom-blown smelting slag, the ZnO content in the slag was effectively reduced in preparation for subsequent ironmaking after flotation. This approach not only solves the problem of large piles of copper slag that cannot be fully utilized, but also alleviates the current shortage of iron ore in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

China's first Mars sampling return mission (Tianwen‐3) is designed to launch and retrieve samples around 2030. Three tentative landing areas (TLAs) (Amazonis, Chryse and Utopia Planitiae, i.e., TLA‐A, TLA‐C and TLA‐U) are selected based on elevation <−2,000 m and latitude between 17° and 30°N. As a dominant feature of Martian meteorology, dust storms manifest in all seasons and affect the accuracy and safety of Mars exploration missions. Tianwen‐3's landing, sampling and ascent phases are in the dust storm season. Therefore, analyzing dust storm activity around landing areas is significant for the Tianwen‐3 mission. According to Mars Daily Global Maps taken by Mars Orbiter Camera spanning Martian years 24–28, 2,476 dust storm events around the three TLAs were identified in this research. Dust storm temporal probabilities within TLA‐A, TLA‐C and TLA‐U were calculated as 0%–44.69%, 0%–66.29% and 0%–33.64%, separately. Dust storm spatial probabilities around the TLA‐A, TLA‐C and TLA‐U were computed, with ranges of 0%–10.71%, 0%–14.55% and 0%–19.96% during the T1 period (Ls = 161–309°), and 0%–6.75%, 0%–7.65% and 0%–8.26% during the T2 period (Ls = 342‐55°), respectively. Finally, considering the temporal and spatial distribution of dust storms, we recommend the T2 period as the launch scenario. Three safe periods (Ls = 2–18°, 4–12°, and 356–4°) were assigned for the entry‐descent‐landing (EDL) phase, along with one period (Ls = 45–55°) for the take‐off and ascent phase. Five circular landing zones with dust storm spatial probability <3% were selected for the Tianwen‐3 mission. In this study, we utilized Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) Mars Daily Global Maps to (a) detect the dust storm events around three TLAs in five consecutive Mars years (MY 24–28); (b) calculate and analyze the temporal and spatial probabilities of dust storm occurrence; and (c) designate the safe landing areas, the preferred take‐off and ascent and entry‐descent‐landing (EDL) periods for the Tianwen‐3 mission. Background: The surge in omicron variants has caused nationwide breakthrough infections in mainland China since the December 2022. In this study, we report the neutralization profiles of serum samples from the patients with breast cancer and the patients with liver cancer who had contracted subvariant breakthrough infections. Methods: In this real‐world study, we enrolled 143 COVID‐19‐vaccinated (81 and 62 patients with breast and liver cancers) and 105 unvaccinated patients with cancer (58 and 47 patients with breast and liver cancers) after omicron infection. Anti‐spike receptor binding domain (RBD) IgGs and 50% pseudovirus neutralization titer (pVNT50) for the preceding (wild type), circulating omicron (BA.4‐BA.5, and BF.7), and new subvariants (XBB.1.5) were comprehensively analyzed. Results: Patients with liver cancer receiving booster doses had higher levels of anti‐spike RBD IgG against circulating omicron (BA.4‐BA.5, and BF.7) and a novel subvariant (XBB.1.5) compared to patients with breast cancer after breakthrough infection. Additionally, all vaccinated patients produced higher neutralizing antibody titers against circulating omicron (BA.4‐BA.5, and BF.7) compared to unvaccinated patients. However, the unvaccinated patients produced higher neutralizing antibody against XBB.1.5 than vaccinated patients after Omicron infection, with this trend being more pronounced in breast cancer than in liver cancer patients. Moreover, we found that there was no correlation between anti‐spike RBD IgG against wildtype virus and the neutralizing antibody titer, but a positive correlation between anti‐spike RBD IgG and the neutralizing antibody against XBB.1.5 was found in unvaccinated patients. Conclusion: Our study found that there may be differences in vaccine response and protective effect against COVID‐19 infection in patients with liver and breast cancer. In this study, a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network approach is employed to evaluate the prediction performance of PM2.5 in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region (BTH). The proposed method is evaluated using the hourly air quality datasets from the China National Environmental Monitoring Center, European Center for Medium-range Weather Forecasts ERA5 (ECMWF-ERA5), and Multi-resolution Emission Inventory for China (MEIC) for the years 2016 and 2017. The predicted PM2.5 concentrations demonstrate a strong correlation with the observed values (R2 = 0.871–0.940) in the air quality dataset. Furthermore, the model exhibited the best performance in situations of heavy pollution (PM2.5 > 150 μg/m3) and during the winter season, with respective R2 values of 0.689 and 0.915. In addition, the influence of ECMWF-ERA5's hourly meteorological factors was assessed, and the results revealed regional heterogeneity on a large scale. Further evaluation was conducted by analyzing the chemical components of the MEIC inventory on the prediction performance. The Yangla Cu skarn deposit is located in the central part of the Jinshajiang Suture Zone, southwest China, with a total reserve of 150 Mt Cu @ 1.03%. The newly discovered antimony orebodies at the depth of Yangla are strictly controlled by the stratum, structure, and lithology, which are lenticular and vein-like within the marble fracture zone, which can provide a window into multistage mineralization and ore genesis at Yangla. Mineralization can be divided into three types, Cu–Pb–Zn (skarn) pyrite, galena, and sphalerite, Cu (porphyry) chalcopyrite and pyrite, and Sb (hydrothermal) stibnite and pyrite. The mineral assemblages were stibnite + pyrite + calcite + quartz ± minor scheelite in antimony ores. This study presents quantitative measurements of the trace element compositions of pyrite and stibnite from the Yangla antimony ores. Analysis of pyrite with electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) showed enrichment in Co, Ni, Sb, As, and Mo, and deficit in its S and Fe contents when compared to the stoichiometric concentrations of S and Fe in pyrite. The Sb-related pyrite may belong to sedimentary-reworked genesis and may be modified by hydrothermal fluids, thereby presenting a certain difference (i.e., crystal morphology, texture, and chemical composition) compared to the skarn and porphyry Cu-related pyrite in the Yangla Cu skarn deposit. Analysis of stibnite with EPMA and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry showed enrichment in As, Pb, Sn, Pb, Cu, and Zn, and presented much higher Sb contents and slightly lower S contents when compared to the stoichiometric concentrations of Sb and S in stibnite. Statistical analysis of the stibnite trace elements showed correlations for the elemental pairs Cu–Pb, As–Sb, and Sn–Pb, and the coupled substitution equations Sb3+ ↔ Cu+ + Pb2+, Sb3+ ↔ As3+, and Sn2+ ↔ Pb2+ may be the major factors governed the incorporating Cu, Pb, As and Sn within the stibnite. A simple, low-cost, and highly sensitive method using a modified QuECHERS procedure based on a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS) was established to simultaneously quantify lufenuron and chlorfenapyr and the corresponding metabolite tralopyril in cabbage for the first time. On the basis of this method, terminal residue and dietary risk of lufenuron and chlorfenapyr in cabbage were investigated. The recoveries of lufenuron, chlorfenapyr, and tralopyril ranged from 88 to 110%, with relative standard deviation of less than 12.4%. The field trial results showed that at the pre-harvest interval (PHI) of 21 days, the terminal residues of lufenuron, chlorfenapyr, and tralopyril in the supervised trials were not higher than 0.02 mg/kg, and the highest detected residue levels of lufenuron, chlorfenapyr, and tralopyril were 0.047, 0.055, and <0.02 mg·kg-1 at 14-day pre-harvest respectively, which were lower than the maximum residue limits (MRLs) for cabbage established in China. For the dietary risk assessment, the national estimated daily intakes (NEDIs) as proportion of acceptable daily intakes (ADIs) were 80.4% and 29.9% for chlorfenapyr and lufenuron respectively indicating an acceptable dietary risk to Chinese population. Background: Early prediction of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) is critical to improving the prognosis of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). Machine learning (ML) algorithms can learn from intricate information unbiasedly and facilitate the early identification of clinical outcomes. This study aimed to construct and compare the ability of different ML models to predict DCI after aSAH. Then, we identified and analyzed the essential risk of DCI occurrence by preoperative clinical scores and postoperative laboratory test results. Methods: This was a multicenter, retrospective cohort study. A total of 1039 post-operation patients with aSAH were finally included from three hospitals in China. The training group contained 919 patients, and the test group comprised 120 patients. We used five popular machine-learning algorithms to construct the models. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, and f1 score were used to evaluate and compare the five models. Finally, we performed a Shapley Additive exPlanations analysis for the model with the best performance and significance analysis for each feature. Results: A total of 239 patients with aSAH (23.003%) developed DCI after the operation. Our results showed that in the test cohort, Random Forest (RF) had an AUC of 0.79, which was better than other models. The five most important features for predicting DCI in the RF model were the admitted modified Rankin Scale, D-Dimer, intracranial parenchymal hematoma, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, and Fisher score. Interestingly, clamping or embolization for the aneurysm treatment was the fourth button-down risk factor in the ML model. Conclusions: In this multicenter study, we compared five ML methods, among which RF performed the best in DCI prediction. In addition, the essential risks were identified to help clinicians monitor the patients at high risk for DCI more precisely and facilitate timely intervention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

China has experienced rapid development in the digital economy. Using data from 30 provinces in China between 2011 and 2017, this paper constructs a two-way fixed effects model to study the effects and mechanisms of the digital economy development on social insurance funds revenue. An increase of one unit in digital economy development led to a 0.56% increase in basic endowment insurance funds revenue and a 0.33% increase in basic health insurance funds revenue. The digital economy increased the social insurance funds revenue by promoting employment and increasing income. Furthermore, the effects of digital economic development on social insurance funds revenue were heterogeneous for different levels of economic development and urbanization. The conclusions stood after robustness tests by changing the method of weighting the digital economy indicators and using instrumental variables. This paper confirmed the positive role of the development of the digital economy in increasing the revenue of social insurance funds from the perspective of quantitative research and explored the mechanisms in depth. In order to increase social insurance funds revenue, it is essential to accelerate the development of the digital economy, especially in regions with lower economic development and urbanization, and to address the needs of the technically unemployed and those engaged in flexible employment. Moisture sources and transport processes play a critical part in hydrological cycle and determine regional precipitation. This paper utilizes the Water Accounting Model‐2layers (WAM‐2layers) and the ERA5 reanalysis data to track the sources of precipitation over the Pearl River Basin (PRB). The contribution of external moisture and the role of local recycling are investigated. The results show that during the period from 1980 to 2020, oceanic sources including the western North Pacific and Indian Oceans serve as the primary moisture sources of precipitation over the PRB. The contributions to total seasonal precipitation are respectively 62.57% in MAM, 54.79% in JJA, 43.70% in SON and 60.88% in DJF. By contrast, the contribution of local recycling is generally below 5.50%. In the dry years of 1994, 1997 and 2001, the contribution of terrestrial sources is about 19.22%; in the wet years of 1989, 2009 and 2011, the contribution is about 16.31%. The summer precipitation anomalies are mainly attributable to moisture anomalies from the Equatorial Indian Ocean in the wet years and from Southeast Asia in the dry years. Furthermore, vertically integrated moisture flux anomalies over the boundaries of the PRB are generally the result of anomalous wind rather than anomalous moisture. In the wet years, low‐pressure systems induce strong cyclonic moisture transports, increasing the PRB precipitation. After the termination of zero‐COVID‐19 policy, the populace in China has experienced both Omicron BA.5 and XBB waves. Considering the poor antibody responses and severe outcomes observed among the elderly following infection, we conducted a longitudinal investigation to examine the epidemiological characteristics and antibody kinetics among 107 boosted elderly participants following the Omicron BA.5 and XBB waves. We observed that 96 participants (89.7%) were infected with Omicron BA.5, while 59 (55.1%) participants were infected with Omicron XBB. Notably, 52 participants (48.6%) experienced dual infections of both Omicron BA.5 and XBB. The proportion of symptomatic cases appeared to decrease following the XBB wave (18.6%) compared to that after the BA.5 wave (59.3%). Omicron BA.5 breakthrough infection induced lower neutralizing antibody titers against XBB.1.5, BA.2.86, and JN.1, while reinfection with Omicron XBB broadened the antibody responses against all measured Omicron subvariants and may alleviate the wild type‐vaccination induced immune imprinting. Boosted vaccination type and comorbidities were the significant factors associated with antibody responses. Updated vaccines based on emerging severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 variants are needed to control the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic in the elderly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The association between macronutrient intake and diabetes is unclear. We used data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey to explore the association between macronutrient intake trajectories and diabetes risk in this study. Methods: We included 6755 participants who did not have diabetes at baseline and participated in at least three surveys. The energy supply ratio of carbohydrate, protein, and fat was further calculated from dietary data; different macronutrient trajectories were determined using multitrajectory models; and multiple Cox regression models were used to evaluate the association between these trajectories and diabetes. Results: We found three multitrajectories: decreased low carbohydrate‐increased moderate protein‐increased high fat (DLC‐IMP‐IHF), decreased high carbohydrate‐moderate protein‐increased low fat (DHC‐MP‐ILF), and balanced‐macronutrients (BM). Compared to the BM trajectory, DHC‐MP‐ILF trajectories were significantly associated with increased risk of diabetes (hazard ratio [HR]: 3.228, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.571–6.632), whereas no association between DLC‐IMP‐IHF trajectories and diabetes was found in our study (HR: 0.699, 95% CI: 0.351–1.392). Background and Objectives: Due partly to an ageing population, China faces an increasingly dire blood shortage crisis requiring greater voluntary blood donations. A better understanding of blood donation preferences can inform blood donation policies and potentially increase donations. We used an online survey and discrete choice experiment to achieve our study objective: identify the most influential structural facilitators and barriers to voluntary blood donation in China. Materials and Methods: First, we identified six structural attributes (travel time, venue, donation volume, paid leave, scheduling and gifts) that were hypothesized to influence voluntary blood donation; attribute selection was based on a literature review and qualitative interviews. Second, a d‐efficient design with 36 choice sets and 9 blocks was developed. Participants were asked to complete four choice sets, and in each choice set, they were asked to choose from three options: two voluntary blood donation scenarios and a 'Do not donate blood' option. Study participants were recruited through an online survey platform company in China. Voluntary blood donation preferences and preferences by blood donation history were estimated with random‐parameter logit models and interaction terms. Results: In 2022, 1185 individuals enrolled in the study. Most participants had college education (92%). Generally, participants preferred longer paid leave, lower blood donation volumes and gifts after donation. Based on interaction analyses, experienced and inexperienced donors exhibited similar preferences. Conclusion: Campaigns to increase voluntary blood donation rates in China should consider implementing paid leave after voluntary blood donation, lower blood donation volumes and small gifts conferred after donation. Wood-rotting fungi are organisms that can decompose wood substrates and extract nutrients from them to support their growth. They play a crucial role in the material cycle of forest ecosystems. The genus Pluteus plays a significant role in wood decomposition. In this study, the morphology and molecular systematics of the sect. Celluloderma of the genus Pluteus were carried out. Pluteus brunneodiscus was identified as a new species, along with the discovery of two new records, P. cystidiosus and P. chrysophlebius, and a common species, P. romellii. Pluteus brunneodiscus is characterized by the brown center of the pileus that transitions to white towards the margins, with the surface cracking to form irregular granules. It is typically found in Populus forests growing on decomposing twigs or wood chips. Line drawings, color photographs, and phylogenetic analyses of related species within the genus Pluteus accompany the descriptions of these four species. The analyses are based on ITS + TEF1-α sequence data. Finally, a key for the twenty species within the sect. Celluloderma of the genus Pluteus, which has been documented in China, is provided. Hemp seeds are consumed in "Bama longevity villages" in China and are believed to contribute to the locals' longevity. However, the molecular breeding of hemp seeds is limited due to our lack of understanding of molecular regulation and metabolite accumulation at different maturity stages. Here, we conducted metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses of hemp seeds from the Bama region at four maturity stages (S1 to S4). In total, 1231 metabolites of 11 classes were detected in hemp seeds from S1–S4, including 233 flavonoids, 214 phenolic acids, 159 lipids, 118 amino acids and derivatives, 100 alkaloids, 100 organic acids, 71 nucleotides and derivatives, 43 lignans and coumarins, 14 terpenoids, 13 tannins, and 166 others. The metabolomic analysis of hemp seeds (from the Bama region) revealed a higher number of flavonoid metabolites compared with seven other varieties from other regions in China. Hemp seeds are rich in metabolites like cannflavin, trigonelline, citric acid, vitexin, choline alfoscerate, and choline, which may potentially contribute to the longevity of the Bama people. Through transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses, a gradual decrease in the overall expression pattern of genes and metabolite accumulation was observed during seed maturation. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis revealed that two genes (ncbi_115696993 and ncbi_115706674) are involved in regulating main metabolites, while transcription factor association analysis revealed that three transcription factor genes (MYB, NAC, and GRAS) are also involved in regulating the metabolites. The expression pattern of these five candidate genes was further verified by qPCR. Our study provides valuable insights into the metabolic substances during seed maturation and identifies candidate genes that could be utilized for future genetic engineering to enhance the endogenous biosynthesis of health-promoting metabolites in hemp seeds, potentially leading to improved nutritional and medicinal properties. Background: Spontaneous reporting of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is essential for the post-marketing safety evaluation of drugs. Therefore, good monitoring of ADRs is vital for strengthening drug supervision, management, and guiding rational drug use. Chinese medical institutions are the primary source of ADR case reports, but the proportion of the reports in grade IIIA hospitals is still low due to serious under-reporting. The 3rd Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College, Chengdu Pidu District People's Hospital, also has such a problem. Objective: To improve the quantity and quality of ADR reports and enhance the level of pharmacovigilance in hospitals, the Third Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College, People's Hospital of Chengdu Pidu District experienced 10 years to gradually establish a management model to improve the medical staff's reporting rate of spontaneous reporting of ADRs. The management model is led by clinical pharmacists and combines the PDCA with Teach-back methods. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the management model and discuss its advantages and shortcomings of this model. Methods: This study was conducted at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu Medical College—Chengdu Pidu District People's Hospital. From 2016, the daily management of reporting, auditing, and data improvement of adverse drug reactions in the hospital was carried out by clinical pharmacists, who used the PDCA method combined with the Teach-back method to continuously improve the reporting program of ADRs in the hospital during 2016–2021. Then, the proportion of spontaneous reports of total, new, and serious ADRs was compared before and after the intervention. Also, we performed a time series analysis using an autoregressive moving average model to assess changes in the total number of spontaneous ADR reports before the intervention (2013–2015), the first intervention (2016–2018), and the second intervention (2019–2021). Results: After the combined PDCA and Teach-back method intervention, the median number of reported ADRs per year increased from 50 (range 37–55) in the pre-intervention period to 88 (range 83–162) in the first intervention period and to 374 in the second (range 312–566). Breakpoint regression analysis of the spontaneous reporting rate of ADRs showed that the instantaneous increase after the first intervention was not statistically significant (P = 0.526). However, the reporting rate of ADRs increased at a month-by-month growth rate during the second intervention compared to the first intervention. Its spontaneous reporting rate improved 1.034 times (P = 0.002). After the second intervention, the spontaneous reporting rate of ADRs transiently increased 6.111-fold (P < 0.001), and the month-to-month growth rate increased 1.024-fold (P < 0.001) again. Alien plants' chemical defenses against herbivores contribute to how successful they are at invading, but the defensive chemicals and their biosynthesis are sometimes poorly characterized, which limits pest management and control of invasive species. Here, the chemical defenses of invasive plant Phytolacca americana and noninvasive Phytolacca icosandra in China against generalist herbivore Spodoptera litura were compared. When plants were free from herbivores' attack, P. americana repelled S. litura females to P. icosandra. After being infested with S. litura, P. americana formed an ecological trap, which attracted S. litura to lay eggs but caused the emerged larvae to grow poorly. Further analysis found that constitutively released (Z)-3-hexenyl acetate (z3HAC) attracted S. litura females, while the herbivore-induced volatile DMNT with z3HAC repelled them. P. americana had alcohol acyltransferase genes (AATs) for z3HAC biosynthesis, but low gene expression levels of target AATs, low enzyme catalytic ability of AATs, and low level of the endogenous precursor of (Z)-3-hexen-1-ol led to undetectable levels of z3HAC. Highly enriched metabolites of organic acids and flavonoids from phenylalanine metabolism in P. americana deterred the growth of S. litura. These results suggested that invasive P. americana avoided synthesizing costly z3HAC and accumulated organic acids and flavonoids to defend against generalists, unlike its noninvasive congener, providing new insights into invasion success and pest management. The deep learning method has been widely used in the engineering field. The availability of the training dataset is one of the most important limitations of the deep learning method. Accurate prediction of pavement performance plays a vital role in road preventive maintenance (PM) and decision-making. Pavement performance prediction based on deep learning has been widely used around the world for its accuracy, robustness, and automation. However, most of the countries in the world have not built their pavement performance historical database, which prevents preventive maintenance using the deep learning method. This study presents an innovative particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm-enhanced two-stage TrAdaBoost.R2 transfer learning algorithm, which could significantly increase the pavement performance prediction database. The Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) database is used as the source domain data, and one of the highways in China is chosen as the target domain to predict pavement performance. The results show that the proposed PSO-Two-stage TrAdaBoost.R2 model has the highest accuracy compared with AdaBoost.R2 model and traditional regression decision tree model. The validation case study shows significant consistency between the predicted International Roughness Index (IRI) and the whole-year measurement data with an R2 of 0.7. This study demonstrates the great potential of the innovative instance-based transfer learning method in pavement performance prediction of a region's lack of data. Rare earth elements (REEs) have been used as tracers to reveal the hydrochemical sources and processes in groundwater systems that are usually modified by anthropogenic inputs. However, the REE behaviors in groundwater affected by mining activities have yet to be fully understood. In combination of REE geochemistry with general hydrochemical and isotopic (δ2H and δ18O) methods, this study investigated the concentration and fractionation of REEs in alkaline groundwater from two coal mines with similar aquifer lithology but different mining histories in the Northern Ordos Basin. One of the coal mines started mining in March 2009 (Ningtiaota coal mine, NTT), while the other started mining in December 2018 (Caojiatan coal mine, CJT). Results show that the primary hydrochemical type is HCO3-Ca in NTT groundwater with pH value ranging between 7.68 and 8.60, while CJT groundwater was dominated by the HCO3-Na type with higher pH of 9.09–10.00. The average values of ΣREEs were lower, and the NASC-normalized pattern reflected more intense fractionation in NTT groundwater than those in CJT groundwater. The evident differences are caused by the distinctions in water–rock interaction, complexation of inorganic species, and adsorption of REEs in NTT and CJT groundwater. Furthermore, these processes were closely related to the pH of groundwater that was different in two coal mines, which is likely linked to the different durations of coal mining activities that led to differences in development of rock fractures and pyrite oxidation. As sport has become more globalized, there has been an increase in the number of athletes who have changed their nationality to maximize their chances to compete in international competitions. In order to maximize its chances at its home hosted Winter Olympic Games, the Chinese government authorized many foreign-born athletes to gain Chinese citizenship to compete for China. The purpose of the study was to explore how Chinese social media users perceived athlete naturalization of Chinese athletes during the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games. Through sentiment analysis and thematic analysis, results found that Chinese spectators generally had positive emotions toward these naturalized Olympians. Online discussions mainly focused on three topics: expressing their attitudes toward athlete naturalization, questioning the legitimacy of the strategy, and discussing athletes' heritage and cultural identities. This research hopes to broaden our understanding of the sport migrant issue in China, the perceptions of athletes who have naturalized, and the sentiments that Chinese consumers have of naturalized athletes at the Winter Olympic Games that were held in their country. Bullying victimization can undermine adolescents' well‐being. However, few studies have comprehensively investigated the contributions of various victimization forms to well‐being and compared which forms were more harmful than others. Evidence on whether resilience and social support moderate such associations is also limited. Using a sample of 12,058 Chinese adolescents in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018, this cross‐sectional study aimed to (1) investigate the associations of physical, verbal and relational victimization with well‐being; (2) compare the strengths of these associations; and (3) examine the moderating roles of resilience and teacher and parent support in these associations. Results showed that three victimization forms were associated with poorer well‐being. Relational and physical victimization were more harmful to most studied well‐being outcomes than verbal victimization. Furthermore, resilience weakened the negative effects of physical victimization on negative affect and life satisfaction but aggravated the negative effects of verbal victimization on both outcomes and the negative effect of relational victimization on school belonging. Teacher support intensified the negative effects of physical victimization on school belonging. Parent support was not effective in regulating the victimization–well‐being association. The findings underscored the detrimental effects of bullying victimization on adolescents' well‐being and the potentially harmful sides of resilience and social support. Atmospheric eddies serve as a crucial component of global circulation on Mars. It is of great scientific and engineering significance to study the spatio‐temporal characteristics of atmospheric eddies and eddy sequences. In this paper, based on the Open access to Mars Assimilated Remote Soundings (OpenMARS) dataset, we used an eddy detection and sequence tracking method to extract a total of 4,089 eddies in LS = 109° MY28 to LS = 109° MY29, which comprised 3,385 cyclones and 704 anticyclones. Notably, the northern hemisphere exhibited a markedly higher eddy number compared with the southern hemisphere, and more than 82% of eddies had an equivalent radius greater than 400 km. These eddies mainly gathered in the interior and vicinity of basins, mountains, and broad plains in the northern hemisphere. Martian atmospheric eddies can be classified into two categories: topographic eddies, which are related to the various landforms on Mars and non‐topographic eddies, which do not show obvious terrain dependence. Additionally, our analysis yielded 83 extracted eddy sequences, with nearly 90% of them exhibiting short life cycles of less than 40 Martian days (sols). Eddy sequences mainly arise in the spring and summer seasons of the northern hemisphere. Considering the instrument criterion of minimal atmospheric eddy activity for the Tianwen‐3 mission, Chryse Planitia was identified as the optimal landing area. Plain Language Summary: Atmospheric eddies, or "a movement of air, dust, or water in a circle" are a crucial component of Mars' global circulation. Studying eddy sequences is essential to understand the atmospheric circulation on Mars. During LS = 109° MY28 to LS = 109° MY29, a total of 4,089 eddies were identified using the OpenMARS dataset, with a higher occurrence of cyclones in both hemispheres during spring and summer compared to autumn and winter. Based on the distribution and density of the eddy centers, we classified the eddies into two categories: topographic eddies and non‐topographic eddies. Topographic eddies are influenced and restricted by the topography of the Martian surface, mainly concentrated in areas with positive and negative topographical features. Non‐topographic eddies are predominantly dispersed over high‐latitude regions. The moving distances of the topographic eddies are usually short, and they are more stable than the non‐topographic eddies. In addition, we extracted 83 eddy sequences, of which nearly 90% had short lifecycles less than 40 Martian days (sols). China's Tianwen‐3 mission is scheduled to return samples in 2030. In the Changning block of the southern Sichuan Basin, the shale gas wells in the Upper Ordovician Wufeng Formation to Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation (Wufeng-Longmaxi) demonstrate significant difference in flowback rate of fracturing fluid, given the same fracturing scale and production time. Based on the P90 curve of flowback rate with time, wells with high flowback rates in this area are categorized, and they are generally defined with the 100-day flowback rate of >40%, the 200-day flowback rate of >50%, and the first-year flowback rate >60%. Through comprehensive research on the geological characteristics of the Changning block, the geological factors that cause high gas well backflow rates have been identified. The results are obtained in four aspects. First, gas wells with high flowback rates generally show higher flow rates for smaller distances to the fault, and the NE faults formed during the late Yanshanian to early Himalayan and with fault throw >200 m have the greatest impact on the flowback rate. Second, plane heterogeneity of water saturation contributes to the high flowback rate of some wells. Third, the proportion of the Middle Ordovician Baota Formation in the horizontal section of wells is positively related to the flowback rate, and the drilling and fracturing of the Baota limestone with high water content can lead to high flowback rates of gas wells to some extent. Fourth, unidirectional linear natural fractures between wells can easily cause inter-well frac-hit, leading to high flowback rates of gas wells. In conclusion, the research results are helpful in predicting areas where high backflow rate gas wells may occur and developing corresponding drainage and production methods in advance. Low moisture conditions result in substantially more soil inorganic carbon (SIC) than soil organic carbon (SOC) in drylands. However, whether and how changes in moisture affect the temperature response of SIC in drylands are poorly understood. Here, we report that the temperature sensitivity of SIC dissolution increases but that of SOC decomposition decreases with increasing natural aridity from 30 dryland sites along a 4,500 km aridity gradient in northern China. To directly test the effects of moisture changes alone, a soil moisture control experiment also revealed opposite moisture effects on the temperature sensitivities of SIC and SOC. Moreover, we found that the temperature sensitivity of SIC was primarily regulated by pH and base cations, whereas that of SOC was mainly regulated by physicochemical protection along the aridity gradient. Given the overall increases in aridity in a warming world, our findings highlight that drought may exacerbate dryland soil carbon loss from SIC under warming. Drought is shown to enhance the temperature sensitivity of soil inorganic carbon dissolution but to weaken that of soil organic carbon decomposition, indicating that drought may exacerbate dryland soil carbon loss from inorganic carbon under warming. Simple Summary: Since 2019, COVID-19 has had major effects around the world. Lung cancer and COVID-19 are both diseases of the respiratory system, and it is interesting to look into how they affect each other. However, very few studies look at how COVID-19 and lung cancer together. The point of this study was to look into the short- and long-term relationships between COVID-19 and lung cancer in order to find out how COVID-19 affects the outcome of lung cancer patients. We discovered that lung cancer patients infected with COVID-19 may have their disease progress more quickly. This suggests lung cancer patients infected with COVID-19 may need to have their tumor treatment evaluated more often so their treatment plans can be changed as needed. Background: COVID-19 has been ravaging the globe for more than three years. Due to systemic immunosuppression of anti-tumor therapy, application of chemotherapy and adverse effects of surgery, the short- and long-term prognosis of cancer patients to COVID-19 are of significant concern. Method: This research included three parts of data. The first part of the data came from the public database that covered Veneto residents. The second part of the data included participants in Guangzhou. The third part of the data was used for MR analysis. We assessed the associations by logistic, linear or Cox regression when appropriate. Result: Lung cancer patients with COVID-19 had shorter progression-free survival (PFS) after COVID-19 (Model II: HR: 3.28, 95% CI: 1.6~6.72; Model III: HR: 3.39, 95% CI: 1.45~7.95), compared with lung cancer patients without COVID-19. Targeted therapy patients recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection more quickly (Model I: β: −0.58, 95% CI: −0.75~−0.41; Model II: β: −0.59, 95% CI: −0.76~−0.41; Model III: β: −0.57; 95% CI: −0.75~−0.40). Conclusions: PFS in lung cancer patients is shortened by COVID-19. The outcome of COVID-19 in lung cancer patients was not significantly different from that of the healthy population. Objective: To understand the current status of research in the field of metaverse, and to analyze the research progress and evolutionary trends in this field. Methods: Based on the bibliometric analysis, a total of 921 papers were obtained by searching the Web of science core database for the keyword "metaverse". CiteSpace was used to visualize and analyze the current status and trends of metaverse research in China. Results: Ireland is currently the country with the highest research impact. China is currently the country with the largest number of publications in this field, but the impact of the research is insufficient. The current research in the highly cited literature focuses on technical and history reviews of the metaverse as well as its development in the field of education. Artificial Intelligence and utaut2 are the underlying clusters of cited literature in this research area. Several research hotspots have been formed, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, digital twins and artificial intelligence. Conclusion: The current research on metaverse in various fields is basically in its infancy, but has a great potential for future development and will gradually penetrate into many different directions with many challenges. Herein, a novel oxygen- enriched melting process for fly ash, which uses the biogas produced from the leachate of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) plants, is proposed to reduce the high cost of conventional fly ash – melting technology. The fly ash composition was estimated via X-ray fluorescence analysis; the six constituent elements detected in fly ash in the decreasing order of their content were calcium, chlorine, silicon, sulfur, sodium, and potassium. Based on literature and actual production data, the average yield of the leachate was 15% of the total waste entering the MSWI plants and the COD of leachate was 30,000–75,000 mg/L. The amount of biogas that can be used per ton of fly ash was calculated to be 62.0–157.0 m3. The analysis of melting thermal equilibrium revealed the amount of biogas required per ton of fly ash as 57.8 m3. The aforementioned research findings indicate that the biogas produced by MSWI plants can successfully meet the demands of the oxygen- enriched melting of fly ash produced in these plants. By establishing an oxygen- enriched- melting pilot platform, the pilot tests of melting were conducted on fly ash; the results revealed the good melting effects of fly ash. The X-ray diffraction analysis of the slag demonstrated that the content of the vitreous body met the technical requirements for glassy substances. Furthermore, the leaching toxicity test results revealed that heavy metals were well solidified in the slag. This study presents a novel fly ash – melting scheme for MSWI fly ash, namely, biogas oxygen- enriched melting strategy, which has the advantages of technical feasibility and cost- effectiveness. The proposed technique exhibits considerable prospects for widespread application in MSWI plants in China and can play an important role in the safe disposal of fly ash. Implications: In this paper, a low- cost melting method of municipal solid waste incineration(MSWI) fly ash is proposed. This method uses the biogas generated by MSWI plant itself as fuel for melting. Through research, it has been found that the production of biogas can meet the demand for fly ash melting. Adopting biogas as a molten fuel can significantly reduce the cost of melting, thereby significantly reducing the cost of fly ash melting. This study established a pilot scale platform for the melting of biogas and conducted pilot scale experiments on fly ash and additives. The experimental results showed that the melting system operated well and achieved the vitrification of fly ash. The leaching test results of the molten slag showed that heavy metals were well solidified in the slag. The research results can be extended to the MSWI plant for application, which can significantly reduce the cost of fly ash melting disposal, and has broad application prospects. We conduct a large-scale, nondeceptive field experiment to elicit preferences for government participation in China's venture capital and private equity market. Our main result is that the average firm dislikes investors with government ties. We show that such dislike is not present with government-owned firms and that this dislike is highest with best-performing firms. Additional results and surveys suggest that political interference in decision-making is the leading reason why government investors are unattractive to private firms. Overall, our findings point to the limits of a model of "state capitalism" that strongly relies on the complementarity between private firms and government capital to drive high-growth entrepreneurship and innovation. The water eutrophication restricts the development of economy and society in China, which attracts increasing attention. It also affects the health and ecological environment. The evaluation of water eutrophication is very complicated due to the dynamic variability of the water quality data. This paper adopts the hesitant fuzzy set (HFS) to depict the massive data of samples and uncertain preference information of experts, which reduces the complexity of calculation and avoids the loss of information. After that, we construct the projection index function based on the main factors of water eutrophication. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is applied to determine the global optimal projection direction by optimizing the projection index function. Therefore, we construct an improved projection pursuit regression (PPR) model. Finally, the water eutrophication evaluation of several lakes in China is used to demonstrate the improved PPR model. To improve the accuracy of canola identification in the southwest cloudy and foggy mountains of China, this letter puts forward a group of canola recognition features with the multi-temporal Sentinel-1 images. The Jeffries-Matusita (J-M) distance of sample types and the accuracy of canola extraction of support vector machine were compared. The results showed that the J-M values of canola crop with forest land and other green vegetation were improved obviously, among which the J-M value of forest land category increased to 1.93, and that of other green vegetation 1.82. The producer's accuracy (PA) of canola was improved to 70.93%, and the user's accuracy (UA) was increased to 75.86% with F1-measure 73.31%. The canola crop area recognition accuracy was 82.58%. The feature combination can enhance the distinguishability among sample categories, improve the extraction accuracy of canola crops, but the results still have a gap with the reliable results proposed by previous scholars due to the complex crops planting structure, the irregularity of the plot and the resolution of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. Planting energy sorghum to remove soil cadmium (Cd) has been selected as an effective phytoremediation method in subtropical farmland in China in recent years. Nevertheless, the effects of energy sorghum species and cropping systems on Cd removal by energy sorghum are still not fully understood. In the present work, biomass sorghum (BS) and sweet sorghum (SS) were planted for screening varieties and comparing the applicability of cropping systems to remove Cd from contaminated soils through batch field experiments. The results indicated that BS had a higher plant height (4.70–75.63%), lower water content in the shoot (4.78–13.49%), greater dry biomass yield (13.21–125.16%), and stronger Cd removal (average 45.71%) compared with SS. Significant differences (p < 0.05) were observed in the agronomic traits and Cd accumulation of energy sorghums with genetic regulation of varieties. Pearson correlation coefficients analysis and the structural equation model (SEM) showed that plant height was the crucial agronomic parameter affecting the dry biomass yield, and Cd concentration in the stem was the key factor for evaluating the Cd extraction ability of energy sorghums, which indirectly determined the removal of Cd by energy sorghum together. Furthermore, the regeneration cropping system was the most suitable because of the adaptation to climatic conditions of energy sorghums in subtropical regions of China, and its Cd removal efficiency increased by more than 49% compared with double cropping and single cropping systems, respectively. Purpose: This study aims to investigate how sports customers adopted over-the-top (OTT) services to consume sport content. Inspired by the technology acceptance model (TAM), the study aims to understand users' behavior when consuming sporting events and users' perceptions toward OTT services. Design/methodology/approach: The participants of the study are Chinese sports consumers that use streaming services to watch live sport content. An online survey was distributed through HUPU Sports, a Chinese online communication community where sports fans can share opinions. To make sure all responses qualified to take part in the study, skip logic questions were added at the beginning of the questionnaire to ask participants to answer whether they used streaming services for watching sports. A total of 352 responses were received and there were 327 useable questionnaires. Findings: The results revealed that viewing convenience, free of commercials and viewing quality were the main reasons impacting them to adopt OTT services. In terms of users' perceptions, paid users rated higher in perceived enjoyment, perceived value, perceived usefulness (PU) and ease of use than nonpaid users. OTT users' fandom and PU could predict the time the users spent on using these services, while the users' fandom and perceived value are positively related to the money users spent on these services. In addition, this study also found that users' fandom, perceived value, content quality, and ease of use are positively associated with users' intention to continue to use the service. Originality/value: The study is one of the first attempts to explore how sports audiences adopted OTT services to consume sport content and explore the audiences' perceptions toward OTT usage. Previous studies have already investigated how users adopted music streaming services (Fernandes and Guerra, 2019) and other online streaming services (Shin and Park, 2021), but little attention has been given to sports streaming services specifically. Background: Studies on coronary slow flow are receiving increasing attention, but objective evaluations are still lacking. The purpose of this study was to visualize the current status and research hotspots of coronary slow flow through bibliometric analysis. Methods: All relevant publications on coronary slow flow from 2003 to 2022 were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection database and analyzed by VOSviewer and CiteSpace visualization software. Year of publication, journal, country/region, institution, and first author of each paper, as well as research hotspots were identified. Results: A total of 913 publications were retrieved. The journal with the most publications was Coronary Artery Disease. The country/region with the most publications was Turkey, followed by China and the United States. The institution with the largest publication volume was Turkey Specialized Higher Education Research Hospital. The author with the largest publication volume was Chun-Yan Ma from China. Keyword analysis indicated that "treatment and prognosis", "pathogenesis and risk factors" and "diagnosis" were the clustering centers of coronary slow flow, and the research hotspots gradually changed with time, from pathogenesis to treatment and prognosis. Conclusion: Future research will focus on the search for effective and non-invasive detection indicators and treatments of coronary slow flow. Simple Summary: The process of aging itself and the behavioral changes caused by aging have been extensively studied and recognized in the field of biology. In this study, we determined that age had no effect on social behavior in male Tibetan macaques (Macaca thibetana). Old female macaques were less likely to approach other monkeys. This study provides a new perspective on adjusting social interaction strategies in old non-human primates under nature environments. Aging can induce changes in social behaviors among humans and nonhuman primates (NHPs). Therefore, investigating the aging process in primate species can provide valuable evidence regarding age-related concerns in humans. However, the link between aging and behavioral patterns in nonhuman primates remains poorly comprehended. To address this gap, the present research examined aging-related behaviors exhibited by Tibetan macaques (Macaca thibetana) in their natural habitat in Huangshan, China, during the period from October 2020 to June 2021. We collected behavioral data from 25 adult macaques using different data collection methods, including focal animal sampling and ad libitum sampling methods. We found that among adult female macaques, the frequency of being attacked decreased with their age, and that the frequency of approaching other monkeys also decreased as age increased. In males, however, this was not the case. Our findings demonstrate that older female macaques exhibit active conflict avoidance, potentially attributed to a reduction in the frequency of approaching conspecifics and a decreased likelihood of engaging in conflict behaviors. This study provides some important data for investigating aging in NHPs and confirms that Macaca can exhibit a preference for social partners under aging-related contexts similar to humans. In recent years, rapid industrialization has driven higher energy demand, depleting fossil-fuel reserves and causing excessive emissions. China's "dual carbon" strategy aims to balance development and sustainability. This study optimizes microgrid efficiency with a tiered carbon-priced economy. A Stackelberg game establishes microgrid-user equilibrium, solved iteratively with a multi-population algorithm (MPGA). Comparative analysis can be obtained without considering demand response scenarios, and the optimization cost of microgrid operation considering price-based demand response scenarios was reduced by 5%; that is 668.95 yuan. In addition, the cost of electricity purchase was decreased by 23.8%, or 778.6 yuan. The model promotes user-driven energy use, elevating economic and system benefits, and therefore, the scheduling expectation of "peak shaving and valley filling" is effectively realized. As the climate has warmed, alpine treelines have moved to higher altitudes and the responses of tree growth to different climate factors have changed. We collected dendrochronologies of Larix gmelinii at different elevations on the Dabai Mountain, the highest peak in northeastern China's Greater Khingan range, to measure the sensitivity and stability of radial growth over time. We found that the treeline has moved upslope since 1970. From the mid-1980s, radial growth increased in the treeline ecotone but decreased in the subtimberline forest, an example of "growth divergence" under warming conditions: increases in the previous October's maximum temperatures promoted growth at higher altitudes but inhibited it at lower altitudes. The treeline ecotone appears to be more sensitive to climate change, with the effects on tree growth of different climate indicators varying by altitude in linear or U-shaped relationships. As warming continues, the management of boreal forests needs to consider the changing potential for tree growth and carbon sequestration capacity in relation to changing site conditions. Simple Summary: Phytoplasma are wall-less phytopathogens that invade hundreds of plant species, causing symptoms, including witches' broom, phyllody, and leaf yellowing. The difficulty in phytoplasma artificial cultivation makes research on the interactions of phytoplasma–plant–vector insects lag behind the research on interactions of other phytopathogen–plant–vector insects. The spread of phytoplasma heavily relies on piercing–sucking insects. In this study, the feeding behavior of the leafhopper Hishimonus hamatus Kuoh fed on healthy Chinese jujube leaves and on jujube witches' broom (JWB) leaves was investigated to find whether JWB infection changed the feeding behavior or preference of H. hamatus. Then, we performed a metabolomic analysis to inspect the metabolite composition of healthy and JWB-infected jujube leaves and tried to explain why the leafhopper tended to feed on JWB-infected leaves. We found that more small-molecular carbohydrates, free amino acids, and free fatty acids and less lignans, coumarins and triterpenoids were accumulated in JWB-infected leaves, which might be related to more vector leafhopper feeding with a higher frequency. Hishimonus hamatus Kuoh is a leafhopper species native to China that feeds on Chinese jujube leaves. This leafhopper species has been verified to transmit jujube witches' broom (JWB) disease, caused by phytoplasma, a fatal plant pathogen, which belongs to the phytoplasma subgroup 16SrV-B. The transmission of JWB phytoplasma largely relies on the feeding behavior of piercing–sucking leafhoppers. However, the specific mechanisms behind how and why the infection of JWB influences the feeding behavior of these leafhoppers are not fully understood. To address this, a study was conducted to compare the feeding patterns of H. hamatus when feeding JWB-infested jujube leaves to healthy leaves using the electrical penetration graph (EPG) technique. Then, a widely targeted metabolome analysis was performed to identify differences in the metabolite composition of JWB-infected jujube leaves and that of healthy jujube leaves. The results of EPG analyses revealed that when feeding on JWB-infected jujube leaves, H. hamatus exhibited an increased frequency of phloem ingestion and spent longer in the phloem feeding phase compared to when feeding on healthy leaves. In addition, the results of metabolomic analyses showed that JWB-infected leaves accumulated higher levels of small-molecular carbohydrates, free amino acids, and free fatty acids, as well as lower levels of lignans, coumarins and triterpenoids compared to healthy leaves. The above results indicated that the H. hamatus preferentially fed on the phloem of infected leaves, which seems to be linked to the transmission of the JWB phytoplasma. Accurate quantification of evapotranspiration (ETc) and its components are critical for enhancing water use efficiency and implementing precision irrigation. A two-year experiment was conducted for greenhouse-grown tomatoes under mulched drip irrigation with three irrigation treatments during 2020–2021 in Northeast China. Three different irrigation treatments were applied by setting upper and lower soil moisture irrigation thresholds (i.e., W1, 65%θFC–75%θFC, W2, 75%θFC–85%θFC, W3, 85%θFC–95%θFC, respectively, where θFC is field capacity). In this study, a modified dual crop coefficient (Kc) model was proposed to simulate daily ETc, plant transpiration (Tr) and soil evaporation (Es). The simulations of the model were validated against observed data from the sap flow system combined with the soil water balance method. The controlling factors on the variations of evapotranspiration and its components were also identified by using the path analysis method. Results showed that the modified dual Kc model can accurately simulate daily ETc, Es, and Tr for the greenhouse tomato under different irrigation conditions, with the coefficients of determination ranging from 0.88 to 0.98 and the index of agreement higher than 0.90. The seasonal cumulative ETc of tomato for W1–W3 were 138.5–194.4 mm, of which 9.5–15.8% was consumed by Es. Path analysis showed that the net radiation (Rn) was the dominant factor controlling the variations of Tr and ETc during the growing seasons. The canopy coverage degree (Kcc) was the dominant controlling factor of Es, while the temperature (Ta) was the primary limiting factor affecting Es. Limitations in the current capability of monitoring PM2.5 adversely impact air quality management and health risk assessment of PM2.5 exposure. Commonly, ground-based monitoring networks are established to measure the PM2.5 concentrations in highly populated regions and protected areas such as national parks, yet large gaps exist in spatial coverage. Satellite-derived aerosol optical properties serve to complement the missing spatial information of ground-based monitoring networks. However, satellite remote sensing AODs are hampered under cloudy/hazy conditions or during nighttime. Here we strive to overcome the long-standing restriction that surface PM2.5 cannot be obtained with satellite remote sensing under cloudy/hazy conditions or during nighttime. In this work, we introduce a deep spatiotemporal neural network (ST-NN) and demonstrate that it can artfully fill these observational gaps. We quantified the quantitative impact of input variables on the results using sensitivity and visual analysis of the model. This technique provides ground-level PM2.5 concentrations with a high spatial resolution (0.01°) and 24-h temporal coverage, hour-by-hour, complete coverage. In central and eastern China, the 10-fold cross-validation results show that R2 is between 0.8 and 0.9, and RMSE is between 6 and 26 (µg m−3). The relative error varies in different concentration ranges and is generally less than 20%. Better constrained spatiotemporal distributions of PM2.5 concentrations will contribute to improving health effects studies, atmospheric emission estimates, and air quality predictions. Evaluation of groundwater quality has an important role in groundwater management and conservation. Addressing the uncertain characteristics of groundwater quality as affected by multiple interacting factors – and the factors being changeable, random and fuzzy – sample test data from 20 hydrogeologic boreholes in a study area in Fenggang town, Zunyi city, China were collected and a groundwater quality evaluation model was built based on set pair analysis. Through expressions of the connection degree and decomposition of the degree of discrepancy and calculation of the comprehensive fuzzy connection degree, results of groundwater quality evaluation in the study area were obtained. The reliability and validity of the model were proved by comparing the results with the actual situation. Exploring the relationship between finance and economic growth is a key direction of financial economics. However, most of the literature starts from the aggregate perspective and uses the GDP or per capita GDP as the explained variable to study the role of finance. Such a perspective ignores the heterogeneity of financial activities with respect to geographical distribution and makes it difficult to distinguish the roles of factor input and efficiency improvement. Because of this, this article introduces a "density" perspective on new economic geography and the measurement of the efficiency of the transition of development economics into financial economics. This article uses the stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) method to measure the technical efficiency (TE) of 272 cities in China from 2005 to 2018 and then, based on "forward-looking" and "backward-looking" methods, measures the impact of financial density on urban technical efficiency. This study found that overall, before the financial crisis in 2008, the contribution of financial density to technical efficiency showed a downward trend, and in the regional and provincial dimensions, the distribution of financial density's contribution to technical efficiency was generally in line with that of backward regions, with less regularity in developed regions. In the urban dimension, the contribution rate of financial density to resource-based cities with slow technological progress or advanced cities with rich financial resources is not very prominent and may even play a negative role; however, cities that are at a medium level of development, rich in population resources, have convenient transportation, and have a certain industrial foundation can greatly promote the improvement of technical efficiency. Therefore, it may be possible to optimize the marginal contribution of urban financial density to the technical efficiency of Chinese cities by encouraging the flow of financial resources and activities from cities with small marginal effects to those with large marginal effects. This paper studies the spectrum of the idiosyncratic volatility (IVOL) puzzle in the Chinese A-share market using functional data analysis (FDA). It highlights a nonlinear IVOL puzzle with a steady reduction in the bottom 20% of average returns and a large drop of 1% in the top 10%, consistent with the herding, certainty, and reflection effects in China's A-share markets. Furthermore, empirical evidence suggests that the FDA technique has a 30% greater goodness of fit than linear regressions, suggesting that nonlinearity plays a non-negligible role in the IVOL puzzle. Identification and quantification of different soil phosphorus (P) fractions level are important for improving agricultural productivity and developing sustainable management practices in these agricultural soils under long-term cultivation. However, few studies have been conducted to investigate P fractions level and their transformation in these soils. This study was conducted to characterize P fractions as affected by different paddy cultivation ages (200, 400-yr and 900-yr) among soils of the Pearl River Delta Plain in China. A sequential chemical fractionation scheme and 31P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (31P NMR) were employed to quantify various P fractions and speciation. Results showed soil easily-labile P, moderately-labile P and non-labile P had a positive relationship with total P (TP) and available P (AP). Analysis with 31P NMR spectroscopy revealed that inorganic P including orthophosphate (Ortho-P) and pyrophosphate (Pyro-P) increased with cultivation age, while organic species monoester phosphate (Mono-P) and diester phosphate (Diester-P) decreased. Moreover, acid phosphatase (AcP), neutral phosphatase (NeP), exchangeable Ca and sand contents are the main factors that affected the transformation of soil P composition, and non-labile P (Dil.HCl-Pi) and Pyro-P had significant contribution to soil P availability by affecting P activation coefficient. Therefore, long-term paddy cultivation, influenced by these soil parameters including NeP, AcP, exchangeable Ca and sand, accelerated the transformation of soil organic P/non-labile P to inorganic P. Improving the efficiency of factor allocation, breaking the resource curse, and achieving high-quality economic development are an urgent concern in resource-based cities. Using the panel data of 116 prefecture-level resource-based cities in China from 2005 to 2020, this paper constructs the data envelopment analysis-Malmquist index model to measure the level of high-quality economic development; to construct a resource misallocation growth accounting model based on the total production function to measure the distortion coefficient, the threshold panel model is employed to explore the threshold effect of factor market distortion on high-quality economic development. The results yielded three important findings: (1) The green total factor productivity of resource-based cities in China presents spatial heterogeneity and type heterogeneity. (2) Factor market distortion gradient standards are proposed innovatively, and the factor market distortion level shows the spatial heterogeneity and type heterogeneity. (3) The influence of factor market distortion on high-quality economic development in resource-based cities presents a double threshold effect. According to the above research conclusions, this paper gives several policy recommendations to promote the factor marketization allocation and high-quality economic development of resource-based cities. Bats are reservoir hosts for many zoonotic viruses. Despite this, relatively little is known about the diversity and abundance of viruses within individual bats, and hence the frequency of virus co-infection and spillover among them. We characterize the mammal-associated viruses in 149 individual bats sampled from Yunnan province, China, using an unbiased meta-transcriptomics approach. This reveals a high frequency of virus co-infection (simultaneous infection of bat individuals by multiple viral species) and spillover among the animals studied, which may in turn facilitate virus recombination and reassortment. Of note, we identify five viral species that are likely to be pathogenic to humans or livestock, based on phylogenetic relatedness to known pathogens or in vitro receptor binding assays. This includes a novel recombinant SARS-like coronavirus that is closely related to both SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2. In vitro assays indicate that this recombinant virus can utilize the human ACE2 receptor such that it is likely to be of increased emergence risk. Our study highlights the common occurrence of co-infection and spillover of bat viruses and their implications for virus emergence. Viral diversity and abundance in bats are incompletely understood.
