Due to seismic load, complex geological and geo-mechanical conditions of rock mass in Steeply Inclined and Extremely Thick Coal Seam (SIETCS) mines, the prediction and prevention of dynamic disasters remain quite challenging. Traditionally, physical models and numerical simulations are widely practiced for disaster prediction at shallow depths which becomes difficult in SIETCS mines. The drilling tests and above models are generally time-consuming and uneconomic providing miniature coverage. Whilst, rockburst driven disasters require detailed regional geological understanding and mechanical behavior of rock mass. For this purpose, a non-invasive and cost-effective geophysical workflow covering regional-scale geology is introduced for accurate identification and prediction of rockburst in a SIETCS mine of northwestern China. Passive seismological in-situ observations were made for a period of twenty-four months to compute the seismic source parameters, map fracturing process, identify regional lineaments and calculate important rockburst prediction indicators. The spatiotemporal distribution of induced-microseismicity, three-states stress theory, and mapped fractures helped in the identification of three rockbursts, several high-energy tremors, and the prediction of two new rockburst-prone regions. The mapped fractures through the novel 'Seismo-Frac model' showed that for the simultaneous excavation in B3 + 6 and B2 + 1 coal seams subjected to repetitive episodes of seismic deformation, the shear-displacement accumulation, prying effects of rock pillar and roof coupled with dynamic stress are the primary mode of deformation. The mapped fractures and lineaments are unevenly distributed in the minefield with a maximum density of the fractures concentrated in the B3 + 6 coal seam and rock pillar. Furthermore, through conditional probability analysis, the prediction efficiency of source parameter averages (E and N), seismological parameters (b-value and Δb), and maximum potential magnitude (M m) was compared. A sharp-increase in source parameter averages while a sharp-decrease in the seismological parameters proved to be effective rockburst prediction indicators. This study also introduces decreasing occurrence frequency of fractures and lineaments as the new prediction indicators. This method, while a panacea for imaging the entire fracturing phenomenon, provides insights with widespread implications for academic researchers and industry practitioners to mitigate dynamic disasters in global underground engineering excavation. Herein, field experiment trials were conducted at two different sites (Heilongjiang and Hubei Province) in China to determine the residual levels and dissipation kinetics of metalaxyl-M in rice grains, and paddy soil and water. A modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe "QuEChES" method coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was developed for determination of metalaxyl-M residual levels in different matrices. The method showed an excellent linear response (R2 > 0.99) over the concentration range of 0.01–0.50 mg kg−1 with satisfactory recovery rates in between 76.00 and 111.36%. The limits of quantification (LOQ) were estimated to be 0.010 mg kg−1 for all matrices. Half-lives of 0.27 to 10.83 days in rice plant, paddy soil, and water indicate that the analyte is easily degraded in the environment within a relatively short time. The terminal residues of metalaxyl-M in rice husks and rice grains were less than 0.05 mg kg−1. Dietary risk assessment showed that harvested rice treated with metalaxyl-M would not pose unreasonable risk to humans or the environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To stipulate the rationale of spraying doses and to determine the safe interval period of boscalid suspension concentrate (SC), the degradation dynamics and residual levels were investigated in cucumber and soil using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Field trials were conducted according to Chinese Guideline on pesticide residue trials. Following application, the degradation kinetics was best ascribed to first-order kinetic models with half-life of 2.67–9.90 d in cucumber. Spraying boscalid SC at 1.5-fold the recommended dosage yield terminal residues, which are clearly lower than the maximum residue limit (MRL) established by China (MRL =5 mg.kg−1) in cucumber. At variance, the dissipation dynamics in soil did not fit to first-order kinetics and the half-life was more than 17 days, the finding which denotes that the degradation behavior of boscalid in soil proceeds slowly. The Linglong gold orefield is located northwest of the Jiaodong gold province, in the eastern North China Craton (NCC) area. It consists of over 10 gold mines with a total gold resource of approximately 1000 t, and gold mineralization occurs in gold-quartz veins. The Linglong gold deposit underwent four stages of ore-forming processes namely: Pyrite-quartz (stage I) – milky-white quartz vein with euhedral pyrites, Quartz-pyrite (stage II) – smoky quartz veins with euhedral-subhedral pyrites, Polymetallic sulfides (stage III) – quartz veins with large amounts of polymetallic sulfides (pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, galena), hematite, and native gold, and the Quartz–carbonate (stage IV) – calcite-quartz veins. This study focuses on the investigation of pyrites from three main mineralization stages (I-III), exploring their textures, in-situ major and trace element concentrations, and in-situ sulfur isotopic compositions. The study examined pyrite through various methods including BSE and EMPA major element, LA-ICP-MS trace element, and LA-MC-ICP-MS sulfur isotope analyses. Pyrite from three distinct stages of ore-forming processes were analyzed. Pyrites from stage I (Py-I) exhibited euhedral crystals with homogeneous brightness in the BSE, lacked mineral inclusions, porous microtextures, and oscillatory zones. Py-I possessed low contents of Au, Ag, As, Bi, Cu, Sb, Zn, Co, and Ni. Pyrites from stage II (Py-II) showed fine-coarse grains and euhedral-subhedral features with slight fractures, similar to Py-I, however, had the higher concentrations of As and Sb. Pyrites from stage III (Py-III) were found in the quartz-polymetallic sulfide veins and exhibited subhedral to anhedral features and more significant concentrations of metallic elements, particularly Au and As. The δ34S values of Py-I, Py-II and Py-III were in the ranges of 6.76‰–7.47‰, 6.11‰–7.27‰ and 6.07‰–8.33 ‰, respectively. Analysis of the texture and geochemical composition of pyrite suggested that invisible gold was primarily present in pyrite in the form of solid solution (Au+), accompanied by a small amount of nano-form gold. The ore-forming fluids that led to this mineralization were mostly derived from mantle-derived mafic magma mixed with some minor metamorphic sedimentary material. A decrease in fluids temperature, water–rock interactions and fluid boiling led to the depositions of sulfides and gold. In the Late Mesozoic, lithospheric delamination of the eastern block of the NCC triggered decompression and melting of the upwelling asthenospheric mantle resulting in partial melting of the lithospheric mantle. This lithospheric mantle-derived mafic magma provided the ore-forming fluids for large-scale gold mineralization in the Jiaodong gold province. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
