Although the concept of burnout has been a significant nursing issue worldwide over the past 30 years, in China the relevant research about nursing burnout only started in the 1990s. In this time, nursing burnout has become increasingly prevalent. This article examines the research carried out both in China and internationally, in order to investigate the causes of stress that lead to burnout among nurses. With the key stressors identified, the article sets out a proposal for a programme to alleviate the stress of hospital nurses and help them to engage with their jobs.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the sleep quality as well as the influence of social support on the sleep quality of elderly people in nursing homes in northeast China, and analyze the chain-mediating role of psychological adjustment and coping styles in social support and sleep quality, thereby to provide a scientific basis for the development of effective intervention measures in this direction. Patients and Methods: This study was conducted during January–March 2023 and adopted a cluster sampling method to select 5 elderly care institutions from across the Jilin, Liaoning, and Heilongjiang provinces in Northeast China. A questionnaire survey was conducted using the Self-mate General Situation Questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Nursing Home Adjustment Scale for the Elderly, Social Support Rating Scale, and Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire. Statistical analysis methods, including ANOVA, logistic multi-factor regression, and Pearson's correlation were employed in SPSS 26.0, while Amos 26.0 was used to build a structural equation model to analyze the interaction path and the mediating role between the variables. Results: The sleep quality of elderly individuals in elderly care institutions was relatively low 8.43(3.456). Social support of elderly individuals in elderly care institutions affected their sleep quality through i) both psychological adjustment and face-to-face coping style (B = 0.493, P < 0.001, 95% CI = 0.050– 0.122) and ii) both psychological adjustment and avoidance coping style (B = − 0.302, P < 0.001, 95% CI = − 0.119 to − 0.048). Psychological adjustment, confrontation coping, and avoidance coping played a mediating role in the sequential relationship between social support and the sleep quality of elderly individuals in elderly care institutions. Conclusion: Psychological adjustment and coping styles have a chain-mediating effect between social support and sleep quality of the elderly in northeast China's elderly care institutions. Objective: The aim of the study was to analyze the impact of different migration arrangements on child welfare. Background: With the rapid economic development in China, large numbers of migrants are moving to metropolitan areas in search of better jobs. They are faced with the dilemma of whether to leave their children behind in the countryside due to various socioeconomic factors. Method: A total of 1005 children with migrant parents and 532 children with nonimmigrant parents were included. An order logit method was used to estimate the impact of family arrangements on child welfare by using China Family Panel Survey Database 2016. To control for the initial heterogeneity of individual, family, and regional characteristics, propensity score matching was used. Results: The findings revealed that the types of family arrangement were complicated, with 66.2% of migrant children in the city with their parents and 74.1% of children were left behind in the rural area. Children who migrate to the city with their parents had significantly greater improvement in their math and Chinese grades, overall school performance, and better physical health than left‐behind children. The impact of family arrangements on mental health was not statistically significant. The impact of migration was more pronounced for children under 12 years of age. Conclusion: Parents' migration decisions have significant implications for child's welfare. The presence of parents and better educational and medical resources are conducive to school performance and physical health for children. The impact of life circumstances and social identity on child's psychological health needs closer attention. Implications: Relaxing the household registration system, making policy adjustments that aim to improve the standard of living in places where migrants relocate, and providing conditions for integration are positive, significant steps that could be taken to promote the physical and mental health of both left‐behind and migrant children. Consuming ethnic vegetable dishes, that has been an integral part in the food culture of many countries, is suggested to bring health benefits to humans. Kimchi from Korea and pao cai from China are two distinct vegetable dishes made from Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa) through different processes. While kimchi is a fermented food, pao cai is produced by pickling in brine or vinegar. The present study aimed to investigate and compare the hepatoprotective effects of kimchi and pao cai in vivo using animal model and in vitro using a cell line. Despite having similar nutritional profiles, kimchi and pao cai exhibited different chemical and microbiological properties. Compared to pao cai, the pH during fermentation of kimchi dropped more rapidly and the antioxidant activity of kimchi was also stronger. In addition, total microorganisms and lactic acid bacteria were consistently higher in kimchi than in pao cai. In vivo, the hepatoprotective properties of kimchi and pao cai were associated with the increase in expression and activity of major liver antioxidant enzymes, particularly glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione S-transferase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase. In vitro, both kimchi and pao cai promoted the formation of glutathione. Upon exposure to chemically induced oxidative stress, kimchi protected liver cells by inhibiting glutathione depletion and limiting lipid peroxidation. In general, kimchi demonstrated stronger hepatoprotective properties compared to pao cai. Thus, the present study provides promising insights into the development of ethnic foods, particularly kimchi and pao cai, as functional foods beneficial for human health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nowadays, there is no specific cure for Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the progression of AD can be improved by preventive interventions. The wine of Taxus chinensis fruit (TCFW) has the effect of improving human immunity and anti‐aging as a long history of health care wine in folk, especially popular in the longevity villages in China, which may be potentially effective dietary products to improve AD. However, the chemical constituents and molecular mechanisms of TCFW still remain unknown. In this study, chemical profiling with UHPLC‐QE‐MS/MS, network pharmacology and molecular docking were integrated to fastly explore the potential chemicals and mechanisms of TCFW against AD. A total of 31 chemical components in TCFW were detected and identified compared with the solvent wine of TCFW by UHPLC‐QE‐MS/MS. Then, 27 potential key targets and 14 chemical compounds of TCFW were uncovered for the improvement of AD by network pharmacology and molecular docking. These 14 compounds were reported to have diverse bioactivities such as neuroprotective activity, antifibrotic activity, anticancer activity, antiviral activity and effectiveness in the treatment of neuronal injury, Alzheimer's disease, etc. Among these 27 targets affected by TCFW predicted by our approach, AKT1, PTGS2, NOS3, NOS2, INS, ESR1, ESR2, BDNF, IL6, IL1B, DRD2 and ACHE were significantly altered in AD. The GO and KEGG enrichment analyses revealed that TCFW mainly acted on oxidative response, inflammatory response, insulin secretion, amyloid fibril formation, neurodegenerative pathway‐multiple diseases, Alzheimer's disease, longevity regulation pathway, PI3K‐Akt signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, etc, which were the main pathogenesis of AD. Background: In China, undergraduate students face both academic and career selection pressures, sleep is an important physiological process for them. Investigate the physical exercise, sleep quality of undergraduate students in the education stage in Xuzhou City, and analyze the factors affecting their sleep quality, to promote the health education and psychological health of undergraduate students. Materials and methods: The Physical Activity Rating Scale-3 (PARS-3), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the demographic information questionnaire were used to survey a whole-group sample of four undergraduate colleges and universities (Xuzhou Institute of Engineering, Xuzhou Medical University, China University of Mining and Technology, Jiangsu Normal University) in Xuzhou by cluster sampling, the general characteristics including gender, grade, height, weight, domicile, race, economic income, etc., were collected, and the data were analyzed and processed using chi-square tests and multi-factor logistic regression. Results: 3,366 valid questionnaires were collected from four undergraduate colleges and universities, including 1,355 males and 2,011 females. The detection rate of exercise in Jiangsu Normal University was lower than that in other universities, and the detection rate of sleep disorders was higher than that in other universities. Xuzhou Medical University, the highest detection rate of large exercise, Xuzhou Institute of Technology, the lowest detection rate of sleep disorders. There were significant differences in the detection rate of large amount of exercise among college students of different genders, grades, body types, and majors (χ² = 259.172, P < 0.001; χ² = 34.473, P < 0.001; χ² = 36.026, P < 0.001; χ² = 57.908, P < 0.001). There were significant differences in the detection rate of sleep disorders among college students with different gender, grade, family economic status, daily cell phone use time, cell phone purposeless usage, and exercise level (χ² = 5.806, P = 0.016; χ² = 47.5, P < 0.001; χ² = 28.949, P < 0.001; χ² = 55.866, P < 0.001; χ² = 147.101, P < 0.001; χ² = 9.129, P = 0.010). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that grade, family economic status, cell phone use time, cell phone purposeless usage is the main influencing factors of sleep disorders in college students. Conclusion: The sleep problems of undergraduates are serious, especially in Jiangsu Normal University. Scientific and appropriate exercise is an important measure to solve the sleep problems of undergraduates. A Gram-stain-negative, orange-colored bacterium, designated HX-22-17T, was isolated from activated sludge of an agricultural chemical plant in Maanshan, Anhui province, China (118° 52′ E 31° 68′ N). The strain was strictly aerobic, non-endospore forming, non-motile, and ellipse. Growth of the strain was observed at 16–42 °C (optimum between 25 and 30 °C) at pH 6.0–9.0 (optimum at pH 7.0) and with 0–6.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum at 1.0%). 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that the strain was most closely related to Rudanella lutea KACC 12603T (99.5% similarity). The predominant cellular fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1ω6c), iso-C15:0, and anteiso-C15:0. The major polar lipids included posphatidylethanolamine (PE), aminolipid (AL), and phospholipids (PL). The genomic DNA G+C content of the strain was 54.1 mol%. The ANI and dDDH values obtained between the genomes of HX-22-17T and R. lutea KACC 12603T were 89.3% and 39.3%, respectively. The phenotypic, chemotaxonomic, and genotypic data clearly showed that strain HX-22-17T represents a novel species of the genus Rudanella, for which the name R. paleaurantiibacter sp. nov. is proposed. Service robots have been introduced to hotel industry in the past decade and received various feedback on their performance. To provide better service, one needs to understand how the hotel customers look at the service robots. Understanding their interests, motivation, and behaviors in human-robot interaction is the key to develop high-quality services and improve robot's performance. This is the first work to study human-robot interaction in hotels in China. Frequent pattern mining and social network analysis techniques are used in this work to find out useful suggestions to both hotel management and robot manufactory. Turning on and off lights, TV, curtain, and window screens are popular services that most of the hotel customers preferred during their stays. Service robots are also found to entertain customers to carry out repeated commands for fun or to kill time. Objectives: The goal of the present study was to assess the relationship between sarcopenia and prealbumin levels among hospitalized patients ages 60 and older.Design: Cross-sectional study.Setting: The geriatric wards in Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital, Guiyang. Guizhou, China.Measurements: Sarcopenia was defined according to the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) criteria, which consist of three components: low muscle mass, assessed based on an index of appendicular skeletal mass/height2 <7.0kg/m2 for men and <5.4kg/m2 for women; low muscle strength, defined as handgrip strength <26kg for men and <18kg for women; and low physical performance, defined as gait speed <0.8m/s. Using these criteria, sarcopenia was defined as presence of low muscle mass in addition to low muscle strength and/or low physical performance. Prealbumin levels and other variables were considered as being independent variables in an effort to evaluate any potential associations between these factors and sarcopenia status using non-adjusted and multivariateadjusted regression models.Results: The overall prevalence of sarcopenia was 60.17%, affecting 65 (70.65%) men and 6 (23.08%) women in the present study. Age, body mass index (BMI), and prealbumin levels were each independently associated with sarcopenia (p<0.05). In a multivariate model, after adjusting for all potential covariates, prealbumin levels remained significantly associated with sarcopenia incidence, with an inflection point of 265.9mg/L. The effect sizes and the confidence intervals on the left and right sides of this inflection point were 0.94 (0.90 to 0.99) and 1.07 (0.93 to 1.23), respectively.Conclusion: Among older Chinese inpatients in the present study, prealbumin levels were negatively correlated with sarcopenia incidence, when prealbumin levels were below 265.9mg/L. This study aims at exploring the cardiovascular pathophysiological mechanism of TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) pulse by detecting the correlation between radial artery pulse wave variables and pulse wave velocity/echocardiographic parameters. Two hundred Chinese subjects were enrolled in this study, which were grouped into health control group, hypertension group, and hypertensive heart disease group. Physical data obtained in this study contained TCM pulse images at "Guan" position of the left hand, pulse wave velocity, and echocardiographic parameters. Linear and stepwise regression analysis was performed to assess the association of radial artery pulse wave variables with pulse wave velocity and echocardiographic parameters in the total population and in each different group. After adjusting for related confounding factors, decrease of t1, t5 and increase of h1, h3/h1 were statistically associated with arterial stiffness in the total population (P<0.05). Moreover, the correlation study in each group showed that the decrease of both t3 and h5 was also related to arterial stiffness (P<0.05). In terms of echocardiographic parameters, the height of dicrotic wave indicated by h5 was the most relevant pulse wave variable. For the health control, h5 was negatively associated with interventricular septal thickness (VST) and left ventricular posterior wall thickness (PWT) (P<0.05), while for the hypertension population and those with target-organ damage to heart, increase of h5 might be associated with decrease of ejection fraction (EF) and increase of all the remaining echocardiographic parameters especially for left ventricular end-systolic diameter (LVDs) and Left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVDd) (P<0.05). In conclusion, we found radial artery pulse wave variables were in association with the arterial stiffness and echocardiographic changes in hypertension, which would provide an experimental basis for cardiovascular pathophysiological mechanism of radial artery pulse wave variables. Hymenolepis nanais a common tapeworm that parasitizes in the small intestine of rodent animals and humans. The present study examined the sequence diversity of three mitochondrial (mt) genes namely NADH dehydrogenase subunits 5 (nad5), small subunit ribosomal RNA (rrnS), and ATPase subunit 6 (atp6) ofH. nanafrom mice in different geographical regions of China. A part of thenad5 (pnad5), completerrnS andatp6 genes were amplified separately from individualH. nanaisolates using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and then sequenced. The sequences of pnad5,rrnS, andatp6 were 710 bp, 704–711 bp, and 516 bp in length, respectively. The A + T contents of the sequences were 70.1–73.5% (pnad5), 70.1–71.7% (rrnS), and 76.6–77.9% (atp6). Sequence variation withinH. nanawas 0–1.4% foratp6, 0–1.7% forrrnS, and 0–0.7% for pnad5. The inter-specific sequence differences betweenH. nanaandHymenolepis diminutawere significantly higher, which was 31.6–31.7% (pnad5), 16.1–17.6% (rrnS), and 26.5–27.1% (atp6). Phylogenetic analysis based on the combined three sequences using the maximum parsimony (MP) method supported thatH. nanais a species complex or “cryptic” species. These findings demonstrated clearly the usefulness of the three mtDNA sequences for population genetics and systematic studies ofH. nanaof human and animal health significance. The article discusses the proposed recommendation service and the implementation of the Chinese national clinical pathways for various diseases to improve the quality of patient care in clinical practice in China. Also cited are the proposed clinical pathway ontology (CPO) based modeling technique by Y. Ye and colleagues, the key difference between a clinical pathway and clinical guideline, and the other terms for clinical pathway including care pathway, care map and integrated care pathway.

Since the 1980s, the demand for Hong Kong’s container handling facilities has been increasing due to the robust economic growth in South China. As more and more vessels call on Hong Kong’s container terminals, the vessels moving in the basin surrounded by the container terminals will have a bigger chance of interfering with one another, due to the need to comply with navigation safety requirements. The interference often necessitates the vessels to stop occasionally while moving along their navigation paths in order to avoid potential collisions. This paper develops a simulation model for studying the impact of the vessel-traffic interference in Hong Kong’s terminal basin on its container terminals’ capacities. Major navigation safety requirements and terminal operational characteristics are considered in the model. The model’s simulation results show that the delays due to the vessel-traffic interference lead to a considerable reduction in Hong Kong container terminals’ capacities.
