The number of graduates from China's higher vocational colleges and universities is increasing, and making wise career decisions plays a key role in students' career development. This study is based on the conceptual framework of the Career Self-Management Model of the Social Cognitive Career Theory. This study constructed a model that can improve the quality of career decision-making among college students in higher vocational institutions and explores the effects of career values, career decision self-efficacy, and career goals on career decision-making. Questionnaire data from 654 students attending higher education institutions in China were used. The results showed that both career values and career decision self-efficacy had significant positive effects on career decisions. Moreover, both career decision self-efficacy and career goals played a mediating role. The results demonstrate the applicability of the Career Self-Management Model conceptual framework to the study of career decision-making among college students attending higher education institutions.

During 2010 to 2020, Northeast Pacific (NEP) sea surface temperature (SST) experienced the warmest decade ever recorded, manifested in several extreme marine heatwaves, referred to as "warm blob" events, which severely affect marine ecosystems and extreme weather along the west coast of North America. While year-to-year internal climate variability has been suggested as a cause of individual events, the causes of the continuous dramatic NEP SST warming remain elusive. Here, we show that other than the greenhouse gas (GHG) forcing, rapid aerosol abatement in China over the period likely plays an important role. Anomalous tropospheric warming induced by declining aerosols in China generated atmospheric teleconnections from East Asia to the NEP, featuring an intensified and southward-shifted Aleutian Low. The associated atmospheric circulation anomaly weakens the climatological westerlies in the NEP and warms the SST there by suppressing the evaporative cooling. The aerosol-induced mean warming of the NEP SST, along with internal climate variability and the GHG-induced warming, made the warm blob events more frequent and intense during 2010 to 2020. As anthropogenic aerosol emissions continue to decrease, there is likely to be an increase in NEP warm blob events, disproportionately large beyond the direct radiative effects. Context • Researchers have associated insomnia with many disorders, making insomnia a serious public health issue in China. Sleep quality in older adults isn’t well characterized in China. Objective • The study intended to explore the sleep quality and subjective duration of sleep in a community-dwelling older population in China and identify potential risk factors for poor sleep. Design • The research team performed a cross-sectional survey using the convenience sampling method. Setting • The study took place in a community in Wuhu, Anhui, China in 2015. Participants • Participants were 1075 members of the community from Wuhu city. Outcome Measures • The research team collected self-reported information on sleep quality. Results • The overall prevalence of self-reported insomnia among older adults were 40.8%. The prevalence of insomnia in females, 259 (59.00%), was significantly higher than in males, 180 (41.00%), with P=.00. For income status, the prevalence of insomnia was significantly higher for participants with less than 10 000 RMB per year income for a family, 191 participants (43.51%), than for participants with higher family incomes, with P=.00. For marital status, the prevalence of insomnia was significantly higher for the widowed participants, 121 participants (24.56%), with P=.01. Conclusions • Sleep quality for females, low-income families, and widowed people were significantly worse than for people in other categories among older adults in China. Purpose: To examine how well Chinese adolescents meet the physical exercise time and screen time recommendations in the Physical Activity Guidelines for Chinese Residents (2021), and the relationship between adolescents' physical exercise time, screen time and their academic performance. Method: Daily physical exercise time, screen time and academic performance were collected from Grade 8 adolescents (n = 9,449). Academic performance included standardized scores on Chinese, Math and English tests and responses to the School Life Experience Scale. Results: Meeting the physical activity time and screen time in the Physical Activity Guidelines for Chinese Residents was associated with adolescents' academic performance. Specifically, having at least 60 min of physical exercise per day was associated with adolescents' school life experiences compared to adolescents who did not meet the physical exercise time and screen time in the Chinese Residents' Physical Activity Guidelines. Less than 2 h of cumulative screen time per day was associated with adolescent mathematics test scores, English test scores and school life experiences. Meeting both physical exercise time and screen time to be recommended had more significant effects on adolescents' mathematics, Chinese, English and school life experiences. Meeting both the physical exercise time and screen time recommendations in the Physical Activity Guidelines for Chinese Residents was more significantly associated with boys' mathematics test scores, Chinese test scores and School life experience. Meeting both the physical exercise time and screen time requirements in the Physical Activity Guidelines for Chinese Residents had a more significant effect on School life experience for girls. Conclusion: Physical exercise participation of at least 60 min per day and/or less than 2 h of cumulative screen time per day were both associated with adolescent academic performance. Drying kinetics, color, and texture changes in different drying temperatures of jujubes were investigated in this study. With the increase of temperature, the drying time reached a minimum (140 min) at 80℃. At the temperature of 40℃, the retention of the original color was the greatest (ΔE = 1.66); similar results were also reflected by the measured pulp browning (4.186 ± 0.350 Abs/g) and 5-HMF (0.517 ± 0.044 mg/g). After drying, the fruit hardness decreased to 55.91%–86.59% of the initial (2,543.2 ± 181.4 g). SEM showed that the HAD temperature exceeded 60℃ and the pulp tissue sharp dramatically, causing the fruit to harden. Affected by drying temperature and polygalacturonase, WSP increased in drying, whereas CSP and NSP showed the opposite trend, and they were significantly correlated with the texture of fruits. The results expanded our understanding of the jujube drying process and provided guidance for controlling the quality of jujube during HAD processing. Practical applications The drying method of jujube fruit in China is special, which is a combination of air drying and hot air drying. However, discoloration, shrinkage, and other quality deterioration occurred during the drying process, significantly affecting the quality of jujube fruit. In this study, semi-air-dried jujubes were used to investigate the color and texture during hot air drying. To promote high-quality economic development, China continues to strengthen its network infrastructure, but it is unclear how this affects the regional ecosystem. To clarify the impact direction, based on the weekly data of river pollution in China from 2004 to 2018, this paper regards the Broadband China (BC) strategy as a quasi-natural experiment and uses a difference-in-difference (DID) model for empirical analysis. The study found that network infrastructure construction significantly exacerbates river pollution. After a series of robustness tests, such as the placebo test and propensity score matching DID (PSM-DID), this research conclusion still holds. The impact of network infrastructure construction on river pollution is more visible in economically developed regions as well as cities with a higher level of digital economy development. The mechanism analysis confirms that during the sample period, network infrastructure construction led to secondary industry agglomeration but did not have a significant impact on innovation ability or environmental regulation, thus leading to the continuous intensification of river pollution. Background: Herb-drug interactions are an important issue in drug safety and clinical practice. The aim of this epidemiological study was to characterize associations of clinical outcomes with concomitant herbal and antipsychotic use in patients with schizophrenia. Methods and Findings: In this retrospective, cross-sectional study, 1795 patients with schizophrenia who were randomly selected from 17 psychiatric hospitals in China were interviewed face-to-face using a structured questionnaire. Association analyses were conducted to examine correlates between Chinese medicine (CM) use and demographic, clinical variables, antipsychotic medication mode, and clinical outcomes. The prevalence of concomitant CM and antipsychotic treatment was 36.4% [95% confidence interval (95% CI) 34.2%-38.6%]. Patients using concomitant CM had a significantly greater chance of improved outcomes than non-CM use (61.1% vs. 34.3%, OR = 3.44, 95% CI 2.80-4.24). However, a small but significant number of patients treated concomitantly with CM had a greater risk of developing worse outcomes (7.2% vs. 4.4%, OR = 2.06, 95% CI 2.06-4.83). Significant predictors for concomitant CM treatment-associated outcomes were residence in urban areas, paranoid psychosis, and exceeding 3 months of CM use. Herbal medicine regimens containing Radix Bupleuri, Fructus Gardenia, Fructus Schisandrae, Radix Rehmanniae, Akebia Caulis, and Semen Plantaginis in concomitant use with quetiapine, clozapine, and olanzepine were associated with nearly 60% of the risk of adverse outcomes. Conclusions: Concomitant herbal and antipsychotic treatment could produce either beneficial or adverse clinical effects in schizophrenic population. The fruiting bodies, spores, and lipid from the spores of Ganoderma lucidum have been widely used for medicinal purpose in China. Ergosterol content may be a suitable marker for evaluating the quality of ganoderma spore and ganoderma spore lipid (GSL) products. A gradient reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography method was developed for the simultaneous determination of free and esterified ergosterols in G. lucidum. The contents of free and esterified ergosterols in the different parts (the stipe, pileus, tubes, and spores) of G. lucidum and GSL were determined. The results showed that total ergosterol levels in the stipe, pileus, tubes, and spores of G. lucidum were between 0.8 and 1.6 mg/g. The relative abundances of free to esterified ergosterol were different in the different parts of G. lucidum. The spores and the tubes, the hymenophore tissue that contains the spore-producing cells, have a considerably higher percentage of ergosteryl esters (41.9 and 39.7% of total ergosterol) in comparison with the pileus and stipe tissues (3.6 and 6.2%). The concentration level of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in sediments from Taihu Lake, China was investigated to evaluate the potential ecological risk. A total of 48 surface sediment samples were collected in Taihu Lake. Meiliang Bay in Taihu Lake was selected due to its importance as a drinking water source for nearby cities. Results show that the concentrations of various pesticides in sediments were in the range of 0.1–107.3 ng/g for ? HCH, 3.5–50.5 ng/g for endosulfan sulfate, 2.7–23.0 ng/g for endosulfan II and 0.3–59.3 ng/g for ? DDT. Among the OCPs, HCHs and DDTs were the most dominant contamnants in the sediments. Cyclodiene compounds were also the main pesticides in Taihu lake besides HCH and DDT. Among the cyclodiene compounds, heptachlor and endosulfan sulfate prevailed in most of the sediments. Moreover, the frequencies of detection for the metabolites of PAHs were higher than those of parent compounds, depicting that the sediments have been contaminated historically. In recent years the manufacture of and demand for crystals and oscillators in China have been increasing quickly because of the development of industries, communications, science, transportation, and electronic techniques. This paper introduces the manufacture, research, and characteristics of the technical development of crystals and oscillators in the last ten years in China. To meet the demand from industry, science, and other markets, the number of companies that produce and research crystals and oscillators has increased from several to more than 300 in the last 20 years. Manufacturing technology and equipment have also improved. For marketing and technical reasons, more than 75% of the companies manufacture mainly 49 μ, 49 /25, and μm crystals. Now more and more companies plan to build production lines to make cold-weld crystals and other precision crystals, and at least two companies have already built their production lines. Most of the precision crystals are AT-cut but some are SC-cut. Integrated TCXOs and DTCXOs have been made by different companies, and the frequency-temperature stability of them is from ±2 ppm to ±0.5 ppm in a wide temperature range. Specifications of some OCXOs are almost the same as those of foreign OCXOs. The main design techniques in China are experimental. However, in recent years, specially designed software has been developed for oscillator design, and advanced instrumentation and equipment are used.
