Objective: To explore their perceptions and attitudes toward condom use and the underlying reasons for the low usage frequency among Chinese older adults. Methods: A qualitative study design utilizing interpretive phenomenological analysis was employed. Data were collected through field observation and face‐to‐face in‐depth interviews among older adults aged 50 years or above and having engaged in sexual activities within the previous year. Results: Three main themes emerged: perceiving unnecessary due to misconceptions and low awareness, interactive stereotypes rooted in sociocultural beliefs, and stigmatized social norms including gender inequity and economic unbalance. Conclusions: Tailored interventions focusing on addressing misconceptions, increasing awareness, and reducing culturally ingrained stereotypes and stigma surrounding condom use are essential to promote condom use among older adults in order to prevent HIV transmission in China. People living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) deserve equitable and high-quality care. Current HIV and AIDS nursing education may not adequately prepare student nurses for the complexities of caring for PLWHA, and the perspectives of student nurses have not been sufficiently revealed in nursing education research. This study aimed to explore the viewpoints of student nurses with AIDS care experience on methods to improve their care willingness for PLWHA and to identify their educational and training needs. A descriptive qualitative study design was employed, interviewing 18 undergraduate student nurses from 14 tertiary hospitals across 7 provinces in China. Content analysis of transcripts revealed insightful suggestions for improving nursing students' willingness, such as increased HIV and AIDS education and training, psychological preparation, positive role modeling, raising awareness about AIDS patients, and fostering nursing professionalism. Highlighted education and training needs include progress in HIV and AIDS treatment, preventive measures, psychological support for PLWHA, post-exposure protocols, and HIV-infected risk behaviors. These findings highlight the need for HIV and AIDS education, psychological support training, and stigma-reduction strategies. Background: China braces for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) surge after adjusting the "zero COVID" strategy. We aimed to evaluate and compare the prevalence of clinical symptoms of the Omicron variant infection among people living with HIV (PLWH) and HIV-free people. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Wuchang District, Wuhan, Hubei Province, in December 2022 by a self-administered online survey during the Omicron wave. Participants aged ≥ 18 years with confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) diagnosis were recruited. PLWH managed by the local healthcare system were recruited, while HIV-free people were recruited by sending out online surveys through WeChat. We compared the prevalence of clinical symptoms of COVID-19 between PLWH and HIV-free people, and factors associated with symptom occurrence among PLWH were accessed. Results: Total, 687 PLWH and 1222 HIV-free people were enrolled. After adjusting sex, age, body mass index, comorbidities and COVID-19 vaccination status, the prevalences of all symptoms, including higher degree and long duration of fever (aOR 0.51, 95%CI 0·42 − 0·61; aOR 0.52, 95%CI 0·43 − 0·63), were significantly lower among PLWH than among HIV-free people. Among PLWH, CD4+ T lymphocyte count (CD4 count) between 350 ~ 499 cells/µL and detectable HIV viral load (HIV-VL) were associated with significantly decreased risks of fever (aOR 0·63, 95%CI 0·40 − 0·97; aOR 0·56, 95%CI 0·33 − 0·94), headache (aOR 0·61, 95%CI 0·41 − 0·91; aOR 0·55, 95%CI 0·34 − 0·92) and muscle soreness (aOR 0·57, 95%CI 0·39 − 0·84; aOR 0·57, 95%CI 0·39 − 0·84). No apparent association between the symptoms prevalence and three/four doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccination among PLWH was observed; both males and older age were associated with significantly decreased risks of nasal congestion/runny nose (aOR 0·52, 95%CI 0·32 − 0·82; aOR 0·97, 95%CI 0·96 − 0·99) and headache (aOR 0·58, 95%CI 0·36 − 0·92; aOR 0·96, 95%CI 0·95 − 0·98); older age was associated with significantly decreased risks of higher degree of fever (aOR 0·97, 95%CI 0·95 − 0·98). Conclusions: PLWH have significantly milder symptoms of the Omicron variant infection than HIV-free people. PLWH who are male, older, have low CD4 count, and detectable HIV-VL have reduced occurrence of COVID-19 symptoms. Little is known about gender differences in the symptom burden of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) on antiretroviral therapy in China. This study was conducted based on a biopsychosocial-medical model to describe gender differences in symptom burden among 1035 PLWHA in Yunnan Province, China. After propensity score matching, 798 PLWHA were included in this analysis. Feeling stressed, poor sleep, and memory loss were the most burdensome symptoms among men, while feeling stressed, memory loss, and dizziness were the most burdensome symptoms among women. Among men PLWHA, factors associated with symptom burden were being of the ethnic minority, CD4 count ≥ 500 cells/mm3, physical functioning, and social support. Among women PLWHA, factors associated with symptom burden were being an inpatient, physical functioning, psychological functioning, and social support. Our findings suggest that healthcare providers need to take into account gender differences when developing optimal prevention, treatment, and care programs that provide individualized care to reduce patients' symptom burden. Background: Surgical site infection (SSI) is a common complication in HIV-positive fracture patients undergoing surgery, leading to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Accurate prediction of SSI risk can help guide clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes. However, there is a lack of user-friendly, Web-based calculator for predicting SSI risk in this patient population. Objective: This study aimed to develop and validate a novel web-based risk calculator for predicting SSI in HIV-positive fracture patients undergoing surgery in China. Method: A multicenter retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from HIV-positive fracture patients who underwent surgery in three tertiary hospitals in China between May 2011 and September 2023. We used patients from Beijing Ditan Hospital as the training cohort and patients from Chengdu Public Health and Changsha First Hospital as the external validation cohort. Univariate, multivariate logistic regression analyses and SVM-RFE were performed to identify independent risk factors for SSIs. A web-based calculator was developed using the identified risk factors and validated using an external validation cohort. The performance of the nomogram was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUC) curves, calibration plots, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Results: A total of 338 HIV-positive patients were included in the study, with 216 patients in the training cohort and 122 patients in the validation cohort. The overall SSI incidence was 10.7%. The web-based risk calculator (https://sydtliubo.shinyapps.io/DynNom_for_SSI/) incorporated six risk factors: HBV/HCV co-infection, HIV RNA load, CD4+ T-cell count, Neu and Lym level. The nomogram demonstrated good discrimination, with an AUC of 0.890 in the training cohort and 0.853 in the validation cohort. The calibration plot showed good agreement between predicted and observed SSI probabilities. The DCA indicated that the nomogram had clinical utility across a wide range of threshold probabilities. Conclusion: Our study developed and validated a novel web-based risk calculator for predicting SSI risk in HIV-positive fracture patients undergoing surgery in China. The nomogram demonstrated good discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility, and can serve as a valuable tool for risk stratification and clinical decision-making in this patient population. Background: Several studies have demonstrated the population-level effectiveness of oral PrEP in reducing the risk of HIV infection. However, oral PrEP utilization among MSM in China remains below 1%. While existing literature has primarily focused on oral PrEP preference and willingness, there is limited exploration of the underlying factors contributing to oral PrEP cessation in China. This study aims to fill this gap by investigating the factors associated with oral PrEP cessation among MSM in China. Methods: Assisted by MSM community organizations, we collected 6,535 electronic questionnaires from 31 regions across China, excluding Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. The questionnaire focused on investigating MSM's awareness, willingness, usage, and cessation of oral PrEP. Additionally, 40 participants were randomly chosen for key informant interviews. These qualitative interviews aimed to explore the reasons influencing MSM discontinuing oral PrEP. Results: We eventually enrolled 6535 participants. Among the 685 participants who had used oral PrEP, 19.70% (135/685) ceased oral PrEP. The results indicated that individuals spending > ¥1000 on a bottle of PrEP (aOR = 2.999, 95% CI: 1.886–4.771) were more likely to cease oral PrEP compared to those spending ≤ ¥1000. Conversely, individuals opting for on-demand PrEP (aOR = 0.307, 95% CI: 0.194–0.485) and those using both daily and on-demand PrEP (aOR = 0.114, 95% CI: 0.058–0.226) were less likely to cease PrEP compared to those using daily PrEP. The qualitative analysis uncovered eight themes influencing oral PrEP cessation: (i) High cost and low adherence; (ii) Sexual inactivity; (iii) Lack of knowledge about PrEP; (iv) Trust in current prevention strategies; (v) Poor quality of medical service and counseling; (vi) PrEP stigma; (vii) Partner and relationship factors; (viii) Access challenges. Conclusions: The cessation of oral PrEP among MSM in China is associated with various factors, including the cost of oral PrEP medication, regimens, individual perception of HIV risk, stigma, and the quality of medical services. It is recommended to provide appropriate regimens for eligible MSM and develop tailored combinations of strategies to enhance PrEP awareness and acceptance among individuals, medical staff, and the MSM community. Parental HIV disclosure, where parents living with HIV (PLH) communicate their diagnosis to their children, is crucial for family communication. This study assessed intervention effects of a parental HIV disclosure intervention on psychosocial factors, focusing on child's age impact. Data from a randomized controlled trial involving 791 PLH in China were analyzed at baseline (W1), 6-month (W2), and 12-month follow-ups (W3). The study measured effects on psychosocial factors (HIV disclosure knowledge, outcome expectancy, action self-efficacy, and action planning) using the proportional latent change score method. Among PLH with children aged 6–9, the intervention yielded significant intervention effects on knowledge (β = 0.190, p =.004), action self-efficacy (β = 0.342, p =.001), and action planning (β = 0.389, p <.001) from W1 to W2. For PLH with children aged 10-12, the intervention significantly enhanced action self-efficacy (β = 0.162, p =.003) and action planning (β = 0.367, p =.001) from W1 to W2, but there was a reduction in perceived benefits (β = −0.175, p = 0.024) from W2 to W3. For PLH with children aged 13–15, significant intervention effects were observed on action planning, both from W1 to W2 (β = 0.251, p =.045) and from W2 to W3 (β = 0.321, p <.001). The rapid development of electronic communication technology has brought about a revolutionary transformation in health information seeking and medical consultation. Beyond traditional avenues like seeking assistance from doctors in hospitals, individuals now have the option to engage in online medical consultations, enhancing their ability to manage routine health effectively. However, an overreliance on online medical consultations driven by heightened health anxiety may contribute to the surge in online health information inquiries, a phenomenon positively associated with the emergence of cyberchondria. In the context of China, where HIV/AIDS is socially stigmatised, cyberchondria related to HIV infection becomes particularly noteworthy. This study delves into the potential consequences of online health information seeking (OHIS) with a specific focus on Kongai BBS, a platform catering for individuals with a fear of AIDS. Our research collected data from 309 male users actively participating in the BBS, who had engaged in high‐risk sexual behaviours in the past 6 months. Applying structural equation modelling (SEM), this study examines the intricate relationships between OHIS, health anxiety, online and offline medical consultations, and cyberchondria. The results indicate that online medical consultation serves as a mediator in the relationship between OHIS and cyberchondria, whereas offline medical consultation does not significantly impact this relationship. These findings contribute valuable insights into the interactive dynamics between online and offline medical consultations, offering practical implications for the prevention of HIV infection in China. Objectives: Dolutegravir + lamivudine (DTG + 3TC) is a first‐line regimen for people with HIV. However, there are still concerns about its efficacy in people with tuberculosis (TB)/HIV due to the lack of available evidence and drug–drug interaction with rifampicin. Methods: A single‐centre retrospective observational case series was conducted in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. We included all people with TB/HIV on combined use of once‐daily (q.d.) dosing DTG + 3TC and rifampicin (RIF)‐containing anti‐TB regimens between 2020 and 2022. HIV‐RNA, CD4 cell counts were collected and analysed. Results: In all, 21 people with HIV (PWH) were included in this study. All the PWH were treatment‐naïve and told to take DTG + 3TC q.d. with food. The median age was 53 years, and 71.43% were male. A total of 71.43% PWH had baseline viral load (VL) > 100 000 copies/mL, and 33.33% had baseline VL greater than 500 000 copies/mL. Only one PWH had CD4 cell count greater than 200 cells/μL, and the median CD4 count was 20 cells/μL. A total of 16 PWH started DTG + 3TC after initiation of the RIF‐based anti‐TB regimen, and the other five PWH initiated DTG + 3TC before the treatment of TB. All the PWH had at least 24 weeks of follow‐up visits and all of the TB treatments were successful. A total of 20 PWH (95.24%) achieved viral suppression (VL <50 copies/mL). All detected viral loads between weeks 24 and 48 were less than 200 copies/mL. Among the PWH who started DTG + 3TC after the initiation of RIF‐based anti‐TB regimen, all achieved viral suppression by week 24 except the non‐suppressed PWH. CD4 counts were greatly improved after antiretroviral treatment: the median CD4 counts were raised from 20 to 171 cells/μL at week 48. No serious adverse events were reported. Background: Observational studies suggest that voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) may lower HIV risk among men who have sex with men (MSM). A randomized controlled trial (RCT) is needed to confirm this. Objective: To assess the efficacy of VMMC in preventing incident HIV infection among MSM. Design: An RCT with up to 12 months of follow-up. (Chinese Clinical Trial Registry: ChiCTR2000039436) Setting: 8 cities in China. Participants: Uncircumcised, HIV-seronegative men aged 18 to 49 years who self-reported predominantly practicing insertive anal intercourse and had 2 or more male sex partners in the past 6 months. Intervention: VMMC. Measurements: Rapid testing for HIV was done at baseline and at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. Behavioral questionnaires and other tests for sexually transmitted infections were done at baseline, 6 months, and 12 months. The primary outcome was HIV seroconversion using an intention-to-treat analysis. Results: The study enrolled 124 men in the intervention group and 123 in the control group, who contributed 120.7 and 123.1 person-years of observation, respectively. There were 0 seroconversions in the intervention group (0 infections [95% CI, 0.0 to 3.1 infections] per 100 person-years) and 5 seroconversions in the control group (4.1 infections [CI, 1.3 to 9.5 infections] per 100 person-years). The HIV hazard ratio was 0.09 (CI, 0.00 to 0.81; P  = 0.029), and the HIV incidence was lower in the intervention group (log-rank P  = 0.025). The incidence rates of syphilis, herpes simplex virus type 2, and penile human papillomavirus were not statistically significantly different between the 2 groups. There was no evidence of HIV risk compensation. Limitation: Few HIV seroconversions and limited follow-up period. Conclusion: Among MSM who predominantly practice insertive anal intercourse, VMMC is efficacious in preventing incident HIV infection; MSM should be included in VMMC guidelines. To investigate the prevalence of male circumcision and the willingness to undergo male circumcision and influencing factors among MSM in Maanshan City, we conducted a cross-sectional study from June 2016 to December 2019. Respondent-driven sampling (RDS) was used to recruit participants. Influential factors of willingness to accept circumcision were identified by a multivariable logistic regression model. The multivariable logistic regression model revealed that five variables were independent influential factors for willingness to participate. The factors include that used condoms during last anal intercourse (OR = 1.87, 95% CI:1.03–3.41, P = 0.04), sex with female sex partners (OR = 0.499, 95% CI:0.298–0.860, P = 0.012, level of education (junior college: OR = 0.413, 95% CI:0.200–0.854, P = 0.017; bachelor's degree or higher: OR = 0.442, 95% CI:0.208–0.938, P = 0.033), condom use during oral sex in the last six months (OR = 4.20, 95% CI:1.47–12.0, P = 0.007) and level of knowledge of PrEP (OR = 5.09, 95% CI:1.39–18.7, P = 0.014). Given the willingness of MSM to accept circumcision was low in China, establishing a proper understanding of circumcision is essential if it is to be used as a strategy to prevent HIV infection among MSM. Healthcare disparities are common among people living with HIV (PLWH) in China and likely impact access to HIV services. This study aimed to assess the current status of access to HIV services among PLWH and explore the correlates of service uptake using baseline data from a prospective cohort study among PLWH in Jiangsu Province. Guided by Andersen's behavioral model, univariable and multivariable logistic regressions were conducted to identify factors associated with access to HIV services. Out of 8989 eligible PLWH included in this study, 46.4% perceived difficulty in seeing a healthcare professional for HIV treatment services in 2021–2022. PLWH aged 18–34 years (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 1.69, 95% CI 1.32–2.15), 35–39 years (AOR = 1.33, 95% CI 1.08–1.65), identified as a bisexual/other (AOR = 1.14, 95% CI 1.01–1.29), had a college and above education (AOR = 1.32, 95% CI 1.07–1.63), and perceived moderate (AOR = 1.70, 95% CI 1.51–1.91) and severe (AOR = 2.20, 95% CI 1.94–2.49) levels of HIV stigma were more likely to perceive difficulty in seeing healthcare professionals for HIV treatment in 2021–2022. Living in northern Jiangsu was also associated with increased odds of perceiving difficulty in seeing healthcare professionals for HIV treatment (AOR = 1.12, 95% CI 1.00–1.26). These findings underscore the need for innovative solutions to eliminate the practical barriers to HIV services utilization among PLWH who are bisexual, well-educated, and effective HIV-related stigma reduction interventions. Purpose: Although transgender women (TGW) bear the highest HIV burden worldwide, routine surveillance of this group is rare. We aimed to evaluate the trends in health characteristics of Chinese TGW. Methods: Three cross-sectional studies using snowball sampling were conducted in 2014, 2017, and 2019, primarily in Shenyang, China. A questionnaire and voluntary HIV testing were used to obtain information on background characteristics, sexual behaviors, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) willingness, and HIV status. Results: There were 220 respondents in 2014, 198 in 2017, and 247 in 2019 (average age 31.1±7.6 to 33.5±9.6 years). HIV prevalence significantly decreased from 29.5% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 25.3–38.4%) in 2014 to 19.4% (95% CI: 14.7–24.9%) in 2019 (p<0.05). The proportion of participants reporting condomless anal intercourse (CAI) with any partner fluctuated from 30.8% (95% CI: 25.1–36.1%) to 53.0% (95% CI: 45.8–60.1%). The proportion of participants willing to use PrEP decreased from 86.4% (95% CI: 81.1–90.6%) in 2014 to 62.8% (95% CI: 56.4–68.8%) in 2019. Factors significantly associated with HIV infection were CAI with any partner (multivariate odds ratio [ORm]: 3.58, 95% CI: 1.55–8.29 in 2017; ORm: 3.18, 95% CI: 1.56–6.46 in 2019) and PrEP willingness (ORm: 0.26, 95% CI: 0.12–0.58 in 2017). Conclusion: HIV prevalence and associated risk factors remain substantial among Chinese TGW. This study intended to investigate the impact of long‐term tenofovir fumarate (TDF) antiviral regimen on renal function in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)‐infected patients with low‐risk of kidney injury. The observational study involving 100 HIV‐infected patients without underlying diseases who achieved virological suppression and immunological recovery after sustained antiviral regimen of TDF+ lamivudine+ efavirenz (TLE) for 3.19 years. Renal function, including estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), blood and urine β2 microglobulin, and other parameters, was assessed every 3 months over a period of 2.5 years. The eGFR showed a slight increasement from 116.0 at month 0 to 119.7 at month 30. Blood β2 microglobulin increased from 2.02 mg/L at month 0 to 2.77 mg/L at month 30. Compared to month 0, the difference in blood β2 microglobulin was statistically significant at month 6 and months 12‐30 (P <.05). The incidence of proximal renal tubular dysfunction fluctuated from 2% at month 0 to 2.5% at month 30. The urine β2 microglobulin fluctuated from 0.5 (0.3‐1.1) to 0.8 (0.5‐1.35) mg/L at months 18‐30, which was higher than 0.41 (0.18‐1.1) mg/L at month 0 (P <.05). The abnormal concentration proportion of urine β2 microglobulin fluctuated from 72.7% to 81.3% at months 18‐30, which was higher than the proportion of 57.0% at month 0. The abnormal proportion of blood β2 microglobulin, urine β2 microglobulin, and proximal renal tubular dysfunction were not correlated with eGFR (r1 = 0.119, r2 = −0.008, r3 = −0.165, P >.05). Long‐term TDF antiviral regimen in low‐risk of kidney injury HIV‐infected patients may lead to damage in the proximal renal tubules and glomeruli. Background: The primary risk of HIV transmission in China has shifted from injecting drug use (IDU) to sexual contact since 2006. We evaluated the prevalence trends of HIV, hepatitis C virus (HCV), syphilis, and sexual and drug use behaviors among drug users. Methods: People who use drugs participated in any of four rounds of cross-sectional surveys during 2010–2017 in Chongqing. Participants were tested for HIV, HCV, and syphilis. Questionnaire interviewing was conducted to collect behavioral information. Chi-square and trend tests were employed to assess the changes in diseases and behaviors over time. Results: A total of 8,171 people who inject drugs (PWID) and 5,495 non-injection drug users (NIDU) were included in the analyses. HIV prevalence among PWID in four rounds of the survey in 2010–11, 2012–13, 2014–15, and 2016–17 was 11.5%, 9.7%, 6.5%, and 6.9%, and among NIDU, 2.4%, 1.4%, 2.1% and 2.6%, respectively. HCV prevalence among PWID was 83.5%, 85.2%, 67.1% and 79.7% (P < 0.001), and among NIDU, 22.2%, 10.8%, 13.4% and 14.8%, (P < 0.001). Conclusions: The declining HIV and HCV prevalence among PWID is coincident with declining risky drug use behaviors. Tailored disease prevention and interventions targeting PWID and NIDU are needed. Prescription opioid misuse (POM) among people living with HIV (PLWH) is a serious concern due to risks related to dependence and overdose, and PLWH may be at higher risk for POM due to psychosocial stressors including psychological distress. However, scant POM research has examined the role of HIV-related stigma (e.g., internalized stigma, enacted stigma) in POM among PLWH. Guided by minority stress theory, this study examined a hypothesized serial mediation among enacted stigma, internalized stigma, psychological distress, and POM within a sample of Chinese PLWH with pain symptoms enrolled in a wave (between November 2017 and February 2018) of a longitudinal cohort study in Guangxi (n = 116). Models were tested individually for six enacted stigma experiences, controlling for key demographic and health-related variables (e.g., CD4 + count). Results showed HIV-related workplace discrimination was the most common stigma experience (12%,) and 10.3% of PLWH reported POM. Indirect effect analyses showed that internalized stigma was indirectly associated with POM through psychological distress. Internalized stigma and psychological distress mediated the association between workplace discrimination and POM. Family discrimination, gossip, and healthcare discrimination were directly associated with POM. This study suggests that Chinese PLWH may engage in POM to cope with psychological distress that is rooted in HIV-related stigma and highlights the important context of workplace discrimination for PLWH. Globally and in Malaysia, there are increasing rates of HIV infection among older adults but a corresponding decline in other younger age groups. We aimed to investigate the HIV-related knowledge, perceived risks, attitudes, and risk behaviours among multi-ethnic urban-dwelling older adults in Malaysia. A cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted among 320 adults aged 50 years and above residing in urban Klang Valley, Malaysia. Participants were recruited via convenience sampling in the community and in the outpatient clinics and pharmacy of University Malaya Medical Centre, Malaysia, from April 2021 to January 2022. The median (IQR) age of participants was 58 (55–64) and 42.5% were males. The median (IQR) knowledge score was 10 (8–12) out of 14. Significant knowledge gaps were noted and ethnic Chinese, higher education levels and better HIV-related attitudes were associated with better scores. The median (IQR) attitude score was 49 (41–55) out of 65. Ethnic Chinese and Indian, knowing people living with HIV (PLHIV), and better HIV-related knowledge were associated with better attitude scores. Many (43.8%) older adults were sexually active however rates of consistent condom use was low (19%) and the majority (89.9%) of participants had low self-perceived risk of HIV. These findings highlight underlying drivers for HIV transmission and delayed treatment among older adults in Malaysia and indicate a need for targeted HIV prevention programs for this population. While HIV infections can disrupt people's biographical records, individuals living with HIV (PLH) now have the ability to use information and communication technologies (ICTs) to maintain biographical continuity and participate in the digital world. Drawing on biographical disruption theory and re-domestication theory, this study examines how PLH have repurposed outdated ICTs, particularly QQ groups, a platform originally not designed for them, to manage their disease identity and maintain a sense of normalcy. Through a ten-month online ethnographic analysis of 340 PLH and in-depth interviews with 17 PLH, we found that PLH selectively and rationally chose to re-appropriate QQ groups as a supplementary tool to cope with the precarities they face. This re-integration of QQ groups shaped their values and coping strategies for living with the disease. QQ groups have been re-objectified as transitional objects since their usage may also decrease as PLH's identity reconstruction is accomplished. By leveraging QQ groups as a non-institutional support, PLH were able to navigate positive life transformations and reconfigurations of social order. In addition to enriching our comprehension of marginalized individuals' media practices for digital inclusion, this research proposes four propositions to enhance our understanding of re-domestication theory. Background: Oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as a safe and effective antiretroviral medicine-based prevention against HIV has not been widely adopted by gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) in China. A deeper understanding of barriers and facilitators to PrEP uptake is needed to inform the development of effective interventions. Method: During July–August 2020, we conducted one-on-one semi-structured interviews with 31 Chinese MSM with varied PrEP use experiences (PrEP-naïve, former, and current PrEP users). Interviews were digitally recorded and transcribed in Chinese. Informed by the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Skills Model (IMB), we analyzed the data using a thematic analysis approach to identify the barriers and facilitators to PrEP uptake among Chinese MSM. Results: Major barriers to PrEP uptake among MSM in the sample included uncertainty about PrEP efficacy and lack of PrEP education (information), concerns over potential side effects and cost (motivation), and difficulties in identifying authentic PrEP medications and managing PrEP care (behavioral skills). Facilitators include the perceived benefit of PrEP in improving the quality of sex life and control over health. At the contextual level, we also identified barriers to PrEP access from a thriving informal PrEP market and stressors related to being MSM. Conclusion: Our findings identified a need to invest in non-discriminatory public health messaging of PrEP, explore options for MSM-friendly provision of PrEP outside of traditional HIV care settings, and be attentive to the unique context of an established informal PrEP market in future PrEP initiatives. This study used a self-administered questionnaire to investigate the relationship between HIV/AIDS knowledge, social discrimination, HIV self-efficacy, sexual behavioral characteristics and HIV testing behavior among young students with a history of sexual activity in Chongqing. Propensity score matching was used to construct a control group with similar demographic characteristics to the HIV testing group, only without HIV testing behaviors. Structural equation modeling was used to conduct chain-mediated effect analysis. The HIV testing rate among young students with a history of sexual behavior was 17.16%. Young students with HIV testing behavior had higher levels of HIV/AIDS knowledge, lower social discrimination, better self-efficacy, and no difference in sexual behavior characteristic scores between the two groups (P = 0.062). The mediated effect values of social discrimination and self-efficacy were 0.022 and 0.063, respectively, while their chain mediated effect value was 0.007. There was no mediated effect of sexual behavior characteristics. The level of young students' HIV/AIDS knowledge does not directly influence their HIV testing behavior but plays a complete chain mediating effect on HIV testing behavior through social discrimination and self-efficacy. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection through transfusion has been an imperative challenge for blood safety. Despite the implementation of screening strategies, there was still the residual risk of transfusion‐transmitted HIV. Considering that the prevalence of HIV infection in blood donors is significant for evaluating blood safety and potential risks to the population, meta‐analysis was applied to investigate the HIV prevalence among voluntary blood donors during the past 27 years to characterize the epidemiology and related risk factors of HIV in blood donors. The literature concerning the HIV screening reactive rate and prevalence in Chinese voluntary blood donors was collected through the systematic searching of four electronic databases. After integrating data, following the Preferred Reporting of Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses guidelines, data manipulation and statistical analyses were conducted by Stata 12.0. The results indicated that overall HIV prevalence was 0.0178% (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.0169%−0.0187%) with a remarkable rise, which varied from 2000 (0.0034%) to 2015 (0.027%). The HIV window period infection rate was 0.0475‱ (95% CI, 0.0304‱−0.0646‱). Importantly, subgroup analysis revealed the heterogeneity in gender, occupations, education and donation frequency. With the effective control of HIV transmission through blood, HIV prevalence declined in China to some extent in recent years, and the characteristics of HIV epidemic in some provinces have drastically changed. However, remaining relatively high HIV prevalence and overall increased trend of HIV prevalence since the 21th century demonstrates the potential residual risk of blood transfusion, and the whole society is supposed to pay close attention to HIV infection. Female sex workers (FSWs) are considered a high-risk group for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). However, limited data exist on the prevalence and trends of HIV, syphilis and HCV among FSWs in the Sino-Vietnam border area. To determine the prevalence, trends and correlates of STIs among Chinese local FSWs (CL-FSWs) and cross-border migrant FSWs (CM-FSWs), we conducted consecutive cross-sectional surveys from 2016 to 2021, recruiting 7747 CL-FSWs and 932 CM-FSWs. The overall HIV, syphilis and HCV prevalence declined from 1.0%, 8.8% and 1.7% to 0.1%, 0.9% and 0.3%, respectively. There was no significant downward trend in the overall HIV and syphilis prevalence. However, HCV prevalence showed a decreasing trend among CL-FSWs. CM-FSWs had higher HIV prevalence (2.5% vs. 0.6%). Similarities and differences in STIs-related factors existed between CM-FSWs and CL-FSWs. For instance, receiving HIV-related services in the last year reduced the risk of HIV infection (for CM-FSWs: aOR = 0.234, 95% CI: 0.055–0.993; for CL-FSWs: aOR = 0.182, 95% CI: 0.058–0.567). Serving male clients at least 50 years old increased the risk of syphilis infection (for CM-FSWs: aOR = 4.277, 95% CI: 1.535–11.917; for CL-FSWs: aOR = 1.404, 95% CI: 1.087–1.815). Moreover, CM-FSWs with past-year STIs history had a higher risk of HIV (aOR = 34.976, 95% CI: 5.338–229.176) and HCV infection (aOR = 17.649, 95% CI: 1.846–168.846), both of which were associated with multiple factors in CL-FSWs. Background: Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) is pivotal in extending the lives of people living with HIV (PLWH) and minimizing transmission. Rapid ART initiation, defined as commencing ART within seven days of HIV diagnosis, is recommended for all PLWH. Method: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention. This study included PLWH diagnosed between January 2018 and December 2021 and treated by December 2022. Factors influencing rapid ART initiation were examined using univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses. Results: The study analyzed 1310 cases. The majority were male (77.4%), over 50 years old (46.7%), and contracted HIV through heterosexual transmission (70.0%). Rapid ART initiation was observed in 36.6% (n = 479) of cases, with a cumulative treatment rate of 72.9% within 30 days post-diagnosis. Heterosexual contact was associated with longer intervals from diagnosis to treatment initiation compared to homosexual contact (Adjusted Hazard Ratio (HR) = 0.813, 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 0.668–0.988). Individuals older than 50 years (Adjusted HR = 1.852, 95%CI: 1.149–2.985) were more likely to initiate ART rapidly. Conversely, treatment at the Second Public Hospital (Adjusted HR = 0.483, 95% CI: 0.330–0.708) and a CD4 cell counts above 500 (Adjusted HR = 0.553, 95% CI: 0.332–0.921) were associated with a lower likelihood of initiating treatment within seven days. Conclusions: A higher CD4 cell counts and receiving care in local public hospitals may deter rapid ART initiation. This exploratory study examined whether central auditory tests show differences between people living with HIV (PLWH) treated with two predominant antiretroviral drug therapy (ART) regimens. Cross-sectional. 253 PLWH (mean age 39.8 years) from the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Centre, China. The Hearing in Noise Test speech reception threshold (SRT) assessed central auditory function and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) assessed cognition. The relationship between ART regimen and SRT was evaluated with multivariable linear regression incorporating age, HIV duration, and peripheral hearing ability. Multivariable logistic regression was used to ascertain if SRT and ART regimen predicted MoCA impairment. The two predominant ART regimens differed by one drug (zidovudine or tenofovir). Participants taking the zidovudine-containing regimen had poorer SRT performance (p=.012) independent of age and hearing thresholds. MoCA scores did not differ between drug regimens, but a negative relationship was found between SRT and MoCA impairment (p=.048). ART regimens differed in their association with central auditory test performance likely reflecting neurocognitive changes in PLWH taking the zidovudine-containing regimen. Central auditory test performance also marginally predicted cognitive impairment, supporting further assessment of central auditory tests to detect neurocognitive deficits in PLWH. Background: Few studies on molecular epidemiology have studied people with newly diagnosed HIV infection and ART Failure Patients at the same time in rural China. With more serious HIV epidemic than in other provinces in China, Sichuan is an area suitable for this study. Objective: To analyze the characteristics of HIV-1 molecular networks and factors related to network entry among newly diagnosed HIV infection and ART Failure Patients in three county-level cities (A, B, C) in Sichuan Province, to provide scientific basis for accurate prevention and control. Methods: Nested PCR amplification method was used to amplify HIV-1 pol gene region of 530 blood samples, Sequencer 4.9 was used to edit, clean and splice the gene sequence, Bioedit correction, Fastree 2.1.8 and Figtree 1.4.2 to construct evolutionary tree and determine genotype. HyPhy2.2.4 and Cytoscape 3.6.1 software were used to construct molecular network. Logistic regression analysis was applied. Results: 523(98.68%) pol sequences were obtained, and a total of 518 valid sequences with basic information came into the final analyses. A total of 6 genotypes were detected, namely CRF01_AE (320,61.78%), CRF07_BC (149,28.76%), B (30,5.79%), CRF08_BC (11, 2.12%), CRF55_01B (6, 1.16%) and C (2, 0.39%). 186 of 518(35.91%) sequences entered the network at a genetic distance of 0.8%, forming 42 propagation clusters. "High-risk transmitters"(connected with two and more) accounted for 21.62%. Logistic regression showed that≥50 years old (OR = 2.474) were more risky than 18–49 years old, CRF07_BC sub-type (OR = 0.174) were less risky than CRF01_AE sub-type, B sub-type (OR = 6.698) is higher risky than CRF01_AE sub-type, and District B (OR = 0.077) less risky than that of A city. Conclusion: The sources of HIV infection in rural Sichuan are diversified and complicated. The prevention and control of HIV infection in Sichuan Province should focus on strengthening the long-term dynamic detection of elderly population, B strain sub-type, and in City A. Background: Due to the chronic nature of HIV, mental health has become a critical concern in people living with HIV (PLWHIV). However, little knowledge exists about the association between fear of progression (FoP) and medical coping modes (MCMs) in PLWHIV in China. Methods: A cohort of 303 PLWHIV were consecutively enrolled and their demographic, clinical and psychological information was collected. The Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form (FoP-Q-SF), Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), Internalized HIV Stigma Scale (IHSS) and MCMs Questionnaire were utilized. Results: Of the participants, 215 PLWHIV were classified into the low-level FoP group, and 88 were grouped into the high-level FoP group based on their FoP-Q-SF scores, according to the criteria for the classification of dysfunctional FoP in cancer patients. The high-level group had a higher proportion of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) stage (P = 0.005), lower education levels (P = 0.027) and lower income levels (P = 0.031). Additionally, the high-level group had lower scores in social support (P < 0.001) and its three dimensions, with total SSRS scores showing a negative correlation with two dimensions of FoP-Q-SF, namely physical health (r2 = 0.0409, P < 0.001) and social family (r2 = 0.0422, P < 0.001). Further, the high-level group had higher scores in four dimensions of internalized HIV stigma, and a positive relationship was found to exist between IHSS scores and FoP-Q-SF scores for physical health (r2 = 0.0960, P < 0.001) and social family (r2 = 0.0719, P < 0.001). Social support (OR = 0.929, P = 0.001), being at the AIDS stage (OR = 3.795, P = 0.001), and internalized HIV stigma (OR = 1.028, P < 0.001) were independent factors for FoP. Furthermore, intended MCMs were evaluated. FoP were positively correlated with avoidance scores (r2 = 0.0886, P < 0.001) and was validated as the only factor for the mode of confrontation (OR = 0.944, P = 0.001) and avoidance (OR = 1.059, P = 0.001) in multivariate analysis. Conclusion: The incidence of dysfunctional FoP in our study population was relatively high. Background: In 2021, a Chinese court, based on the newly enacted Civil Code, first revoked a marriage license due to the spouse's failure to disclose their HIV infection before the marriage. This landmark case ignited a fresh debate on whether people living with HIV (PLHIV) have a legal duty to inform their spouses and sexual partners. Advances in medicine have partially isolated HIV transmission from sexual contact, extending the legal basis for the obligation to disclose beyond disease prevention. This study investigates some possibly unforeseen challenges for PLHIV in China to fulfill this duty, and the outcomes of their decisions in light of the government's goal to promote health. Methods: This study aims to provide a detailed examination of the legal provisions and practices concerning partner notification among PLHIV in China. A mixed-methods research approach was employed between 2019 and 2020, combining questionnaire surveys, in-depth interviews, and participatory observations. A total of 433 valid responses were obtained through a questionnaire posted on a Chinese online platform for PLHIV. Following the collection and random coding of the questionnaire data, 40 individuals living with HIV were selected for in-depth interviews. Subsequently, a six-month field investigation was conducted in Guan ai jia yuan (Caring Home) in Jinhua City to further explore this issue. Results: A considerable proportion of PLHIV exhibit a high rate of disclosure to their spouses (nearly 80%). In the context of sexual partners, 56% of PLHIV stated that their sexual partners were aware of their HIV infection. Whether married PLHIV disclosing to their spouses or unmarried/divorced PLHIV disclosing to sexual partners, however, a substantial majority expressed apprehension about the potential disruption to their relationships that the disclosure might cause. The sole exception was observed among married PLHIV in extramarital relationships who demonstrated a slightly diminished level of concern in this context. Reasons for non-disclosure predominantly included undetectable viral load and the adoption of protective measures. Discussion: This study reveals that a prevailing "HIV stigma" hinders PLHIV from voluntarily fulfilling the disclosure duties bestowed by Article 38 of the Regulations on the Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS, and the unclear legal provisions of the new Civil Code play a significant role in this regard. Addressing this issue necessitates not only increasing societal tolerance toward PLHIV and reducing instances of social exclusion but also shifting the legal basis of disclosure duties from disease prevention to rights and obligations within the legal relationships of the parties involved. When it comes to the recipients of disclosure, for instance, it is crucial to differentiate between spouses and sexual partners. As for PLHIV failing to fulfill their disclosure duties, apart from interventions involving indirect notifications, the addition of further legal responsibilities may not be advisable. To assess the prevalence, all-cause mortality and determinants of advanced HIV disease (AHD) or severe immunosuppression (SIS) in the rural–urban communities of Southwestern China. Retrospective cohort study. Data on HIV/AIDS cases reported in 2005–20 were collected from Case Report System. A binary logistic regression model assessed the risk factors of AHD/SIS prevalence. Survival curves across rural–urban regions were compared using Kaplan–Meier estimates and log-rank tests. Determinants of all-cause mortality were identified using the Cox proportional hazard model. Among 14,533 newly diagnosed HIV/AIDS patients, 7497 (51.6%) presented with AHD and 2564 (17.6%) with SIS. Compared with urban patients, rural patients had a higher prevalence of AHD (56.7% vs 40.7%) and SIS (20.1% vs 12.4%), all-cause mortality (AHD 12.3 vs 5.6, SIS 16.3 vs 5.5, per 100 person-years). Their 5-year survival probability (AHD 59.5% vs 77.1%; SIS 54.4% vs 76.3%) and mean survival time (AHD 106.5 vs 140.6 months, SIS 95.3 vs 144.2 months, p < 0.0001) were lower. Rural patients had an increased risk of SIS prevalence (adjusted odds ratios 1.45, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.28–1.64; p < 0.0001) and mortality of the total cohort (adjusted hazard ratios 1.41, 95% CI 1.29–1.55; p < 0.0001), AHD cohort (1.38, 1.24–1.54; p < 0.0001), and SIS cohort (1.49, 1.23–1.81; p < 0.0001). A high prevalence of AHD/SIS was a severe phenomenon that caused high mortality in rural areas. Shanghai is one of the largest cities in China and has the highest proportion of inbound travelers in the world. The HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection status of this population can reflect the global HIV epidemic trend to a certain extent. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective epidemic survey to clarify the prevalence and characteristics of HIV-1 infection among inbound travelers applying for Shanghai residency. The retrospective cohort analysis included a total of 50,830 inbound tourists/travelers who applied for Shanghai residency from 2005 to 2016. HIV-1 infection rates were determined based on HIV-1 antibody testing. Among all the recruited inbound travelers, 245 were HIV-1 positive, with an infection rate of 0.48%. The detection rate of HIV in males was significantly higher than in females (χ2 = 62.584, P < 0.0001). Those aged 18–30 years, 31–40 years, and >40 years accounted for 34.3%, 39.6%, and 26.1% of the infected population, respectively. Although the annual detection rates were different, the trend analysis results showed no increase in HIV-1 prevalence rates among the sampling years (Cochran-Armitage Z = 2.543, P = 0.111). Proportions of individuals infected through homosexual transmission increased over the study period (Cochran-Armitage Z = 5.41, P < 0.001), while the proportion infected through heterosexual declined over time (Cochran-Armitage Z = 3.38, P = 0.001). The rate and characteristics of HIV-1 infection among foreign applicants for residency in Shanghai were identified in the study. The results provide the necessary epidemiological data for monitoring the HIV-1 epidemic among international entry travelers and contribute to establishing relevant policies and regulations for HIV control and prevention. A clear and accurate assessment of depressive symptoms among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the past five years is essential to help develop reasonable and sound interventions to improve their depressive symptoms. PubMed, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Cochrane, Embase, CINAHL, and APA were searched from 1 January 2017 to 12 April 2022. The data were analyzed using STATA 15 Software to pool the global prevalence of depressive symptoms in PLWHA. Ultimately, 103785 PLWHA from 81 original studies were included. The pooled analysis showed that the global prevalence of depressive symptoms in PLWHA over the past five years was 0.35 (95% CI: 0.31–0.38), with differences in depressive symptoms in PLWHA by geographic location, gender, assessment instruments, alcohol use, smoking, marriage, co-morbid disease, financial situation, and educational level. The existing prognostic models for mortality risk in people living with HIV (PLWH) may not be applicable for older PLWH because the risk factors were confined to biomarkers and clinical variables. We developed and validated a nomogram for the prognosis of all-cause mortality in older PLWH based on comprehensive predictors. Prospective cohort study. We included 824 participants aged ≥50 years (mean age, 64.0 ± 7.6 years) from 30 study sites in Sichuan, China, and followed up from Nov 2018 to Mar 2021. Data on demographics, biomarkers, and clinical indicators were extracted from the registry; mental and social factors were assessed by a survey. Elastic net was used to select predictors. A nomogram was developed based on Cox proportional hazards regression model to visualize the relative effect size (points) of the selected predictors. The prognostic index (PI) was calculated by summing points of all predictors to quantify mortality risk. Predictive performance of PI from the nomogram was good, with area under the curve of 0.76 for the training set, and 0.77 for the validation set. Change in CD4 count, virological failure in antiretroviral therapy, and living with comorbidities were robust predictors. Depressive symptoms were an important predictor in men, those aged ≥65 years, and those with time of diagnosis <1 year; low social capital was an additional predictor in people aged <65. Mortality risk increased approximately 10-fold among participants whose PI was in the fourth quartile compared with those in the first quartile (hazard ratio, 9.5; 95% CI, 2.9–31.5). Although biological and clinical factors are crucial predictors, mental and social predictors are essential for specific groups. Depression is one of the most common mental health problems among people living with HIV (PLWH). However, the longitudinal psychological mechanism underlying the link of internalized HIV stigma and depressive symptoms remains a research gap. This study attempted to articulate how and to what extent perceived social support and resilience mediate the longitudinal associations between internalized HIV stigma and depressive symptoms. A sample consisting of 1,098 Chinese PLWH (Mage = 38.63, SD = 9.20; 63.9% male) with a six-month interval and four waves of follow-up was used in the current study. Participants were asked to complete self-report questionnaires. The associations among main study variables were examined via a complete longitudinal mediation approach. Results indicated that the linkage between internalized HIV stigma at T1 and depressive symptoms at T4 was serially mediated by perceived social support at T2 and resilience at T3, and perceived social support at T2 and depressive symptoms at T3 serially mediated the relationship between resilience at T1 and internalized HIV stigma at T4. Depressive symptoms at a previous time point consistently predicted the levels of internalized HIV stigma at subsequent time points. The study highlights the complex interplay between internalized HIV stigma, mental health problems, and protective factors in a longitudinal context. The findings suggest the need to incorporate interventions aimed at enhancing social support and resilience in mental health programs for PLWH, as these factors may interrupt the pathway from internalized HIV stigma to depressive symptoms and potentially improve the overall psychological well-being of this population. Background: Studies on antiretroviral therapy (ART) in children living with HIV (CLHIV) are limited due to the small population and low accession rate of ART. Methods: All 0-14-year-old CLHIV admitted to the Ganzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention from January 2006 to June 2023 were included retrospectively. The information of treatment regimens, disease progression, and laboratory tests of the patients under ART were used to explore the outcomes and impacts of long-term ART. The normality of all the data was tested by the Shapiro-Wilk test. Results: From 2006 to 2023, 18 CLHIV were reported in Ganzhou. Among them, 11 received ART and were followed up for 60.0 ± 48.4 months. After receiving ART, the median viral load of them decreased from 89,600 copies/ml to 22 copies/ml (P = 0.007), the median CD4+ T cell count increased from 380.7 cells/µL to 661.9 cells/µL (P = 0.028), and the median CD8+ T cell count decreased from 1065.8 cells/µL to 983.3 cells/µL (P = 0.584). The laboratory test results regarding liver function, renal function, blood cell count, and glucolipid metabolism tended to be within normal reference ranges, and the mean height-for-age z-score and weight-for-age z-score increased. However, all the three CLHIV who received cotrimoxazole developed pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, upper respiratory infection, skin lesions, bacterial pneumonia and/or thrush; the mean body-mass-index-for-age z-score decreased from 0.52 to -0.63. Conclusion: For CLHIV, ART could effectively inhibit the replication of HIV and improve the immune function of patients. More studies that focus on ART in CLHIV are urgently needed. Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global public health concern. Although the incidence of TB in China is declining, the country continues to face many challenges regarding TB control. This study aimed to develop an active case finding (ACF) strategy for high-risk populations in areas with high TB burden and evaluate the effectiveness of the ACF strategy for early TB detection in patients to reduce TB transmission. This was a descriptive study. From May to October 2019, active TB screening was conducted in Zhejiang Province, China. Overall, 24 high-burden townships were chosen as study sites. Residents aged ≥65 years, suffering from diabetes, diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, or with a history of TB were mobilized for screening. Chest radiography was performed for all participants in the community. Sputum specimens were collected for sputum smear tests and cultures at county-level TB-designed hospitals. A professional medical team performed the final diagnoses. Overall, 130,643 residents were included, accounting for 8.85% of the total population in the selected areas. After screening, 89 confirmed cases and 419 suspected cases were identified. The detection rates for suspected and confirmed cases were 320.72/100,000 and 68.12/100,000, respectively. Individuals with a history of TB accounted for a large proportion of detected cases, and the detection rate was higher among males than in females. This study identified 10.5% of reported cases in the selected areas in 2019. In Zhejiang province, compared with the previous year, the rates of TB notification in 2019 and 2020 declined by 7.0% and 7.4%, respectively, compared with the previous year. However, the TB notification rate in 2019 was almost the same as that in 2018 (a decline of 2.5%) but sharply declined in 2020 (14.4%) in the screened areas. Our findings suggest that the ACF strategy may have helped to maintain the downward trends in TB notification rates by detecting patients with TB and suspected cases in the short term. Appropriate parental HIV disclosures (i.e., parents living with HIV [PLH] tell their HIV diagnosis to their children) benefit parents, children, and family relations. Psychosocial factors could influence the decision-making process of parental HIV disclosure. Using the Health Action Process Approach to frame stages (pre-intention, intention, and action) in the decision-making process, this study aimed to investigate how psychosocial factors predict HIV disclosure stage transitions among PLH in China. Data were collected from a randomized clinical trial of a theory-based parental HIV disclosure intervention among 791 PLH. The predictive effects of psychosocial factors on disclosure stage transitions were examined using a Markov chain model matrix. Results showed that action self-efficacy and action planning were significant predictors of parental HIV disclosure stage transitions. In China, few molecular epidemiological data on hepatitis C virus (HCV) are available and all previous studies were limited by small sample sizes or specific population characteristics. Here, we report characterization of the epidemic history and transmission dynamics of HCV strains in China. We included HCV sequences of individuals belonging to three HCV surveillance programs: 1) patients diagnosed with HIV infection at the Beijing HIV laboratory network, most of whom were people who inject drugs and former paid blood donors, 2) men who have sex with men, and 3) the general population. We also used publicly available HCV sequences sampled in China in our study. In total, we obtained 1,603 Ns5b and 865 C/E2 sequences from 1,811 individuals. The most common HCV strains were subtypes 1b (29.1%), 3b (25.5%) and 3a (15.1%). In transmission network analysis, factors independently associated with clustering included the region (OR: 0.37, 95% CI: 0.19–0.71), infection subtype (OR: 0.23, 95% CI: 0.1–0.52), and sampling period (OR: 0.43, 95% CI: 0.27–0.68). The history of the major HCV subtypes was complex, which coincided with some important sociomedical events in China. Of note, five of eight HCV subtype (1a, 1b, 2a, 3a, and 3b), which constituted 81.8% HCV strains genotyped in our study, showed a tendency towards decline in the effective population size during the past decade until present, which is a good omen for the goal of eliminating HCV by 2030 in China. Background: Despite the introduction of combined antiretroviral therapy, the clinical outcomes of HIV-associated Burkitt lymphoma (BL) remain poor. Methods: To evaluate the clinical characteristics, prognostic factors, and outcomes of HIV-associated BL, we conducted a retrospective analysis of patients from multiple centers in China. Results: The study included 41 patients from 8 medical centers. Among the included population, male patients accounted for 87.8%, with 75.6% in advanced stages. Notably, 46.3% of cases involved bone marrow, while 19.5% involved the central nervous system (CNS). The most commonly used chemotherapy regimen was DA-EPOCH ± R, accounting for 53.6% of cases. The overall response rates for patients receiving DA-EPOCH ± R and R-Hyper-CVAD were 59% and 58.2%, respectively. Interestingly, patients receiving regimens containing rituximab had similar complete remission rates (25% vs. 23.5%) and overall survival time (45.69 ± 11.58 vs. 47.79 ± 11.72 months, P = 0.907) compared to those without rituximab, but differed in progression rates (33.3% vs. 47.1%). For the entire cohort, the 1-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) rates were 52% and 67%, respectively. CNS involvement was independent risk factors for survival, with 1-year PFS and OS rates of 0% and 38% for patients with CNS involvement, and PFS and OS rates of 66% and 75% for patients without CNS involvement. Conclusions: HIV-associated BL patients in China have poor prognosis and show limited response to current treatment regimens. The absence of CNS involvement significantly improves clinical outcomes. This study described the care status of People Living with HIV (PLWH) including antiretroviral therapy (ART) and viral suppression from 2018 to 2020. We recognized that immediate ART was associated with improved viral suppression. Therefore, we also aimed to explore the factors affecting the early initiation of ART. We initiated a retrospective cohort study to evaluate the care status of people living with HIV in Shandong Province. From 2018 to 2020, patients infected by homosexual transmission in particular had a higher ART rate (78.82%, 79.69%, and 87.72%, respectively). Of PLWH who received ART, 79.57%, 77.63%, and 67.71% achieved viral suppression, respectively. However, COVID-19 may affect the rate of ART and viral suppression, which we need to explore in our research. From 2018 to 2020, the proportion of immediate antiretroviral therapy within 30 days of diagnosis increased from 48.12% to 65.42%. Multivariate logistic regression demonstrated that patients with junior college degree or above (OR, 1.39 [95%CI, 1.12–1.73]) and key population or medical institutions (OR, 3.62 [95%CI, 2.18–6.16]; OR, 3.88 [95%CI, 2.33–6.59]) were substantially likely to receive ART immediately, while patients outside the province (OR, 0.60 [95%CI, 0.50–0.73]) were less likely to receive ART immediately. This retrospective cohort study investigated older people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) characteristics, HIV care, and treatment outcomes among all cases between 1996 and 2019 in Guangxi, China. Secondary data were extracted from two national surveillance databases. Older (≥50 years old) and younger (18-49 years old) PLWHA were compared regarding demographic and behavioral characteristics, HIV care, virologic failure, and all-cause mortality. Older PLWHA accounted for 41.6% of all HIV cases (N = 144,952) between 1996 and 2019. The proportion of older cases increased from 10.4% to 64.8% for men and from 2.4% to 66.7% for women between 2002 and 2019. Heterosexual contact accounted for 96.0% of older adults. Moreover, older PLWHA had a lower median CD4 count at the HIV diagnosis (193 vs. 212 cells/μL, p < 0.0001) and were less likely to receive antiretroviral therapy (ART) than younger adults (72.1% vs. 86.1%, p < 0.001). The all-cause mortality risk of older PLWHA was 2.87 times of younger adults [adjusted hazard ratio (AHR) 2.87; 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.76-2.98]. In addition, older PLWHA reported an 18% increase in odds for virologic failure than younger adults (AOR 1.18; 95% CI 1.08-1.30). In order to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030 that was put forward by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS in 2014, China needs to take more effective measures to achieve the three 90% goals (90-90-90). We establish a compartmental model to study the dynamics of HIV transmission with control strategies. The analytical results show the existence and stability of the disease-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium. An optimal control model is constructed to evaluate the impacts of control measures. The simulation results show that the optimal control strategy proposed in this work can eradicate AIDS by 2030. The cost-effectiveness analysis indicates that the cost of the control strategy that combines screening for latent individuals and enhancing education for unaware infected individuals is the lowest. Our findings can provide guidance for public health authorities on effective mitigation strategies to achieve the goals proposed by the United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Previous research has documented that HIV-related stigma (e.g., internalized and anticipated stigma) is detrimental to the mental health of people living with HIV (PLWH). However, longitudinal data on the bidirectional relationship between HIV-related stigma and depression symptoms are limited. The purpose of this study was to examine the bidirectional association among internalized and anticipated HIV stigma and depression symptoms among Chinese PLWH. A four-wave longitudinal design (6 months intervals) was employed among 1,111 Chinese PLWH (Mage = 38.58, SD = 9.16, age range: 18–60 years; 64.1% men). The bidirectional model was examined using a random-intercept cross-lagged panel model (RI-CLPM), which evaluated the within- and between-person effects of study variables. At the within-person level, results indicated that depression symptoms at T2 mediated the linkage between internalized HIV stigma at T1 and anticipated HIV stigma at T3, and that anticipated HIV stigma at both T2 and T3 mediated the relationship between depression symptoms at the previous time point and internalized HIV stigma at the subsequent time point. Furthermore, a bidirectional association was found between anticipated HIV stigma and depression symptoms across four waves. At the between-person level, internalized and anticipated HIV stigma were significantly associated with depression symptoms. This study highlights the complex interplay between different forms of HIV-related stigma and mental health problems among PLWH and underscores the importance of considering the bidirectional relationship between the development of psychopathology and stigmatization process in clinical practice. Background: Talaromycosis is one of the most common opportunistic infections in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected patients. However, few researches have explored the prevalence in Southern China and fully assessed the value of the Mp1p antigen screening for the diagnosis of talaromycosis. Methodology/Principal findings: We performed a cross-sectional study of HIV-infected antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naïve adult patients who were seen in 2018 at Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University. Serum samples collected from all the 784 enrolled patients were tested for Mp1p antigen using double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. A culture of pathogen was conducted in 350 clinically suspected patients to confirm talaromycosis. The overall prevalence of talaromycosis based on the Mp1p antigen detection was 11.4% (89/784) and peaked at 32.2% (75/233) in patients with CD4+ ≤50 Nr/μl. Logistic regression analysis found Mp1p antigen positive rate decreased with the increase in CD4+ counts (OR 0.982, 95% CI 0.977–0.987, P<0.01). The optimal cut-off point of the CD4+ count was 50 Nr/μl or less. Among the 350 patients received both fungal culture and Mp1p antigen detection, 95/350 (27.1%) patients were culture-positive for a Talaromyces marneffei, 75/350 (21.4%) patients were Mp1p antigen positive. The Mp1p antigen assay showed a good agreement to the culture of pathogen, and the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and kappa value was 71.6% (68/95), 97.3% (248/255), 90.7% (68/75), 90.2% (248/275), and 0.737, respectively. The screening accuracy of the Mp1p antigen assay in patients with CD4+ counts of ≤50 Nr/μl was superior to that in those with higher CD4+ counts. Conclusions/Significance: Mp1p antigen screening can be an effective tool for more efficient diagnosis of Talaromycosis, especially in HIV/AIDS patients with low CD4+ counts. The CD4+ counts are an indicator of human immune system. The less CD4+ counts the weaker immune function and much possible the infection of opportunistic pathogen. In this study, we found that HIV patients with talaromycosis had a lower CD4+ count and more advanced disease compared to those without. The prevalence of talaromycosis based on the Mp1p antigen detection was significantly higher in patients with low CD4+ count than those with without. What's more, the Mp1p antigen screening was an effective tool to motivate the diagnosis for talaromycosis in patients with CD4+ ≤ 50 Nr/μl, and in turn to drive the initiation of antifungal treatment and ART, which would help the reduction of mortality and the improvement of treatment outcome. Introduction: Dolutegravir (DTG)-based regimen was included in the expanded formulary of China's National Free Antiretroviral Treatment Program at the end of 2021. Yet high price of DTG and lack of health economic evaluation in China present barriers for implementation of the regimen. The study aims to investigate the lifetime cost-effectiveness of DTG-based regimen for treatment-naive HIV infection in China. Methods: A decision-analytic Markov model was used to obtain the costs and effectiveness of four regimens: Arm A, efavirenz (EFV)-based regimen; Arm B, DTG-based regimen; Arm C, elvitegravir/cobicistat/tenofovir alafenamide/emtricitabine (EVG/c/FTC/TAF) regimen; Arm D, abacavir/lamivudine/dolutegravir (ABC/3TC/DTG) regimen. The potential impact of national centralized drug procurement policy was assessed in scenario analysis. The results were further validated through sensitivity analysis. Results: Compared with other three regimens, DTG-based regimen led to the fewest cumulative adverse reactions, opportunistic infections and deaths. Compared with EFV-based regimen, the base-case ICERs for DTG-based regimen were 13,357 (USD/QALY) and 13,424 (USD/QALY) from the healthcare system and societal perspective respectively. In the policy scenario analysis with the procurement price of DTG equal to that of LPV/r, DTG-based regimen would be dominant. The model results remained robust in sensitivity analyses. Conclusions: DTG-based regimen for treatment-naive patients is likely to be cost-effective and deserve wider implementation in China. Introduction: Mobile dating apps emerged with the development of technology, for example, Blued in China, becoming a new risk field for gay men in the AIDS era. Users use social apps to chat online and date offline to achieve the satisfaction of lust or sexual practice, but the risk of AID looms over the whole process of using apps. Methods: Nineteen interviewees were invited to participate in this study, which included gay men who were using or had used Blued. The content of the semi-structured interviews focused on the relationship between gay social apps and HIV risk. Results: The study finds Blued interweaved with sex, risk, and stigma. Blued is sexualized due to sexual intentions and practices. There is also a sexual stratification of risk with Blued and its users based on socioeconomic factors. Users experience a dilemma between pursuing sex while being concerned about latent risk within a context of stigmatization. Conclusions: Blued is sexualized in terms of the process of stimulating sexual gratification and facilitating sexual practices. The experience of Blued is an example of sexual stratification, and a structure of desire based on app users and app uses. Furthermore, the social stigma against men who have sex with men is transferred to Blued, which bears the stigma of "AIDS-Blued" with a dual stigma--HIV-related and homosexual stigma. Background: Men who have sex with men (MSM) are at high risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, especially for those living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Learning about knowledge of and attitudes towards HCV is essential to inform health promotion interventions development. This is one of very limited studies to examine the level of knowledge and attitudes towards HCV and their determinants among HIV-negative MSM and MSM living with HIV in China. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted across seven provinces in China from December 2021 to January 2022. All the MSM living with HIV were recruited offline, whereas the recruitment ratio for HIV-negative MSM was half online and half offline. Data on socio-demographic characteristics, sexual behaviors, knowledge about HCV, and attitude towards HCV from participants were collected through the online survey. Univariate and multivariable logistic regressions were used to determine the associated factors. Results: Only 39.3% (33/84) of HIV-negative men and 44.0% (37/84) of men living with HIV had a good level knowledge about HCV. Nearly one-third (32.1%, 27/84) of HIV-negative men and 41.7% (35/84) of men living with HIV reported a positive attitude towards HCV. For HIV-negative men, positive attitude towards HCV was associated with the multiple sexual partners (aOR: 5.8, 95%CI:1.9–18.1) and the use of recreational substances (aOR: 3.1, 95%CI: 1.0-9.4). For men living with HIV, knowledge about HCV was associated with disclosing sexual orientation to healthcare providers, family or friends (aOR: 7.0, 1.9–26.0), the multiple sexual partners (aOR: 0.2, 0.1-1.0), the use of recreational substances (aOR: 3.7, 95%CI: 1.1–13.1) and the HBV testing history (aOR: 7.3, 95%CI: 1.6–32.7); positive attitude towards HCV was associated with the use of recreational substances (aOR: 3.1, 95%CI: 1.1-9.0). Conclusions: The majority of Chinese MSM showed an inadequate knowledge of and negative attitude towards HCV irrespective of HIV infection status. More tailored education campaigns and multicomponent interventions are required to be targeted on MSM, and more researches are also needed to inform how best to address the negative attitudes of this population towards HCV. Background: To compare the survival rates of four timing of treatment initiation for people living with HIV/AIDS provided in China in 2006, 2011, 2015, and 2018, and to investigate the factors impacting survival time. Methods: A people living with HIV/AIDS retrospective cohort study was in Liuzhou City from April 2006 to December 2020. The information was obtained from the National Comprehensive AIDS Prevention and Control Information System. Life tables and the Kaplan–Meier method were used to calculate participant survival rates and time. The univariate and multivariate Cox regression models were used to investigate the factors related to survival. Results: 18,543 participants were included in this study. In four periods, the 1-year survival rates were 81%, 87%, 95%, and 95%. The 2-year survival rates were 76%, 85%, 93%, and 94%. The 3-year survival rates were 73%, 84%, 92%, and 94%. Results of multivariate Cox regression showed that sex, age of HIV diagnosis, ethnicity, household registration, occupation, marital status, the timing of treatment, education level, route of HIV transmission, whether receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART), and the count of CD4+T cells at baseline (count of CD4+T cells at HIV diagnosis) were factors that are significantly correlated with mortality caused by HIV infection. Conclusions: With the Guidelines updated from 2006 to 2020, the 1-, 2-, and 3-year survival rates of people living with HIV/AIDS in four periods tended to increase. The timing of treatment initiation of the updated edition of the AIDS Diagnostic and Treatment Guidelines (Guidelines) significantly prolonged the survival time of people living with HIV/AIDS. Background: Data on recent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C virus (HCV) and syphilis prevalence among drug users in the Southwest China are sparse despite the high burden of drug use. This study aims at assessing the prevalence trends and related factors of HIV, HCV and syphilis infection among different drug users in the China–Vietnam border area. Methods: A continuous cross-sectional survey was conducted among drug users from 2010 to 2020 in the China–Vietnam border area. Chi-square trend tests were used to assess the trend of HIV, HCV and syphilis prevalence and the proportion for drug type used by drug users. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify associated factors of HIV, HCV and syphilis infection in different drug users. Results: In this study, a total of 28,951 drug users were included, of which 27,893 (96.45%) male, 15,660 (54.09%) aged 13–34 years, 24,543 (84.77%) heroin-only users, 2062 (7.12%) synthetic drug-only (SD-only) users and 2346 (8.10%) poly-drug users. From 2010 to 2020, the proportion of heroin-only users decreased from 87.79% to 75.46%, whereas SD-only users and poly-drug users increased from 5.16% to 16.03%, and from 7.05% to 8.52%, respectively. The prevalence of HIV, HCV, and syphilis during the study period declined from 12.76%, 60.37% and 5.72% to 4.35%, 53.29% and 4.53%, respectively, among heroin-only users and declined from 18.30%, 66.67% and 15.69% to 6.95%, 27.81% and 5.35%, respectively, among poly-drug users; however, the prevalence of HIV and HCV among SD-only users increased from 0.89% and 8.93% to 2.84% and 18.75%, respectively. Having ever injected drugs and needle sharing were common associated factors for both HIV and HCV infection among poly-drug users and heroin-only users. Aged ≥ 35 years old was an associated factor for HIV, HCV and syphilis infection among the SD-only users. Female drug users were at high risk of contracting syphilis among three different drug users. Conclusions: The prevalence of HIV, HCV and syphilis among heroin-only users and poly-drug users decreased during the study period. However, the prevalence of HIV and HCV among SD-only users increased. Comprehensive intervention strategies, particularly focusing on the SD-only users are needed in order to bring down the disease burden in this population in the China–Vietnam border areas. A large body of literature has established that children orphaned by HIV/AIDS ('AIDS orphans') face numerous challenges, such as parental death, poverty, disrupted school attendance and stigma. All of these early life adversities can have long-lasting effects on brain function, especially the executive functions. Working memory, as one of the most studied aspects of executive functions, is also reported to be impaired in children with early adversity. However, limited data are available regarding how early life adverse events affect the neural dynamic associated with working memory processing in AIDS orphans. This study applied the electroencephalogram (EEG) technique to investigate the working memory process in 81 AIDS orphans and 62 non-orphan controls with n-back tasks. Results from EEG analysis and time-frequency analysis showed that AIDS orphans displayed smaller N2 and larger P2, P3 activation as well as enhanced theta and attenuated alpha band oscillations compared to the controls. The present findings indicated a deficit in working memory process in AIDS orphans and suggested that this deficit might be due to the impairments in attention allocation, detection and classification of stimuli and updating process in working memory.
