Recognition and type classification can be performed on the reduced plots of village land for the decision-making on the village and land reduction. The village and construction land can represent the low use efficiency in the economically developed regions of China, particularly with the fast urbanization. It is a high demand for the amount reduction and quality improvement of construction land use. This study aims to explore the quantitative recognition and distinguish of the reduced plot of village land using ecological security patterns, in order to promote the regional ecological civilization construction, as well as regional green and sustainable development. Taking Miyun District of Beijing as an example, the evaluation index system was comprehensively constructed for the reduced plot of village land from three different dimensions of ecological security, spatial stability, and development suitability. A regional ecological security pattern was also established using multi-source data, such as land use, point of interest (POI) and socioeconomic statistics. The reduced plots were then determined after evaluation. Furthermore, 3D Rubik’s cube graphical method was used to classify the reduced plots. The results showed that: 1) The classification of habitat quality was featured by the outstanding regional aggregation and distribution characteristics. Specifically, the high-value areas were mainly distributed in the north and middle parts of the study area. The land use types were dominated by woodland, grassland, and water area. The low-value areas were mainly in the towns and relatively dense areas in the southwest. The ecological source area was 781.65 km2 after screening using the habitat quality assessment, accounting for 35.06% of the total study area. A total of 15 ecological corridors with a total length of 479.11 km were recognized via the minimum cumulative resistance model. As such, the ecological security pattern was formed in the Miyun District. 2) There was a great different comprehensive evaluation score for reduced plot of village land. Among them, the high terrain was in the northeast, while the low was in the southwest. The area of reduced plots was 789.84 hm² after a comprehensive evaluation. 3) The reduced plots of village land were divided into short-, mid- and long-term reduction areas. The short-term area consisted of three types, such as ecology-space, ecology-development, and spatial-development reduction. A total area of 565 plots covered an area of 213.34 hm² and accounted for 27.01% of the total reduced plots. Three types of reduced plots were the fundamentals action for the amount reduction and quality improvement. The reduction target needed to be prioritized for the reduction. The mid-term reduction area was composed of three types: ecological security, spatial stability, and development suitable reduction, with a total of 565 plots, covering 337.18 hm2 and accounting for 42.69% of the total reduction plots. The reduced plots in the mid-term reduction areas occupied a large proportion for the core reduction areas. Some measures should be taken for the plot reduction of villages. The long-term reduction area included one type of comprehensive reduced area, with a total of 209 plots, covering a total area of 239.32 hm² and accounting for 30.30% of the total reduced plots. Special attention should be paid to the economical and intensive use of this part of the reduced plot. A long-term reduction area was gradually recovered as the village land. Finally, some reduction measures were proposed, according to the different types of reduced plots. The findings can provide the scientific basis for the identification and classification of the reduced plots of village land in the ecological conservation areas, in order to serve the reduction of ecological conservation areas, ecological protection and regional sustainable development. A detailed and thorough study of the quality and its distribution, source identification and apportionment of groundwater, as the major or even sole selection of clean water in Songyuan City (a typical arid and semi-arid district in China), is needed for local sustainable development. The groundwater quality was evaluated using a vague set (VS)-technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal scheme (TOPSIS) model to determine its contamination status. Additionally, to explore the source and quantitative analysis of the driving factors of the groundwater chemistry in Songyuan City, a hydrochemical graphical method and a Principle Component Analysis (PCA) and Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF) model were employed. Regarding the quality of the groundwater in Songyuan, 74.5% of the samples were categorized into Grade I–III (Excellent, Good, and Moderate) water, indicating that the majority of the groundwater can be used directly. Moreover, the confined water tended to be cleaner and more appropriate for use in comparison with the phreatic water in Songyuan City. The PCA and PMF model and hydrochemical graphs demonstrated water–rock interactions and the evaporation process acted as the main factor, which was followed by anthropogenic activities as they contributed 50.1% and 20.4% of the total, respectively. Besides, the fluoride and iron contamination mainly caused by geogenic processes cannot be ignored as they were identified as the two driving factors that controlled the water quality, accounting for 20.2% and 9.3%, respectively. The mutual influence of the natural geological processes and human interventions contribute to the groundwater deterioration in Low Plain. Furthermore, the inappropriate well-forming techniques (without water-stop processes) in Qianan County was the main reason for the low-quality of deep Neogene confined water. The balance of the mineral nutrition in mango leaves during the flowering period affects the flowering of mango trees and fruit production. Because the soil in karst areas has a slow and unbalanced supply rate of nutrients, mango orchards in a karst area generally have a low yield. There are few studies on the fertilization of mango orchards in karst areas, especially on the diagnosis of leaf mineral nutrition. In this study, mango orchards in the typical karst areas of Guangxi province, one of the main mango-producing areas in China, were selected from the low-yielding and medium-yielding mango orchards. Surface soil samples and leaf samples from mango orchards in full bloom were collected to test for macronutrients and micronutrients. The Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) graphical method, the DRIS method, the Modified DRIS (M-DRIS), and the Deviation from Optimum Percentage (DOP) index diagnostic methods were applied to the leaves. The results showed that the DRIS graphical analysis yielded appropriate ratios of N, P, K, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, Cu with the corresponding three elements, Ca, Zn, and B, which can be used as reference diagnostic criteria. Based on the values of the DRIS diagnostic criteria for high-yielding orchards, the critical ranges of the suitable values of the mineral nutrients in the Tainong mango leaves during flowering were determined as N (14.87–17.27 g/kg), P (0.69–0.89 g/kg), K (4.45–6.90 g/kg), Ca (9.51–16.55 g/kg), Mg (1.44–2.20 g/kg), S (0.75–1.06 g/kg), Fe (0.10–0.13 g/kg), Mn (0.61–1.02 g/kg), Cu (5.41–8.89 mg/kg), Zn (7.91–18.95 mg/kg), and B (8.38–16.23 mg/kg). The results of the DRIS, M-DRIS, and DOP index methods were analyzed to determine the order of the fertilizer requirements for the low-yielding orchards: Mg > Fe > S > Zn > B > Cu > K > N > P > Mn > Ca, and for the medium-yielding orchards: Mg > Fe > B > Zn > S > Cu > N > Mn > K > P > Ca. The soil and leaf correlation analysis showed that the soil exchangeable Ca and effective Fe were significantly negatively correlated. Leaf Ca and Fe elements had a mutually antagonistic effect, leaf Mn-rich contents inhibited the uptake of the Mg and Fe elements, and low-yielding orchards had an excess of Mn and a deficiency of Mg. We found that there is lack of the Mg and Fe, a low content of the S and B, and an excess of the Ca and Mn in the mango orchards of the Baise karst area. We suggested that the DRIS graphical method is suitable for the diagnosis of three nutrient elements, and either the DRIS or M-DRIS index method can be chosen. In order to reveal the hydrochemical characteristics and influencing factors of surface water in Chating mining area, find out the source of ions and clarify the water quality, 33 surface water samples were collected. The hydrochemical types, material sources and influencing factors of surface water in the study area were analyzed by means of mathematical statistical analysis, hydrochemical graphical method and spatial interpolation. Comprehensive water quality index (WQI) and irrigation water quality assessment were used to evaluate the surface water quality in the study area. The results show that the surface water in the study area was freshwater, weakly alkaline, and its water chemical type was mainly Ca-HCO3. The water chemical composition is mainly controlled by rock weathering, with little influence from human activities and cation exchange. The chemical composition comes from silicate weathering, carbonate dissolution and sulfate dissolution. The results of WQI drinking evaluation showed that the surface water quality was excellent and reached the drinking standard under certain conditions. Irrigation water quality evaluation results showed that surface water samples could be directly used as irrigation water, and rational utilization will not cause soil salinization. To establish Weibull distribution patterns for outdoor wind speed (WS) over an extended time period and determine wind conditions for building energy-efficient design, this study collected daily WS data from 381 cities spanning all thermal design zones in China. Weibull distribution shape and scale parameters were estimated using three methods: Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), Graphical Method (GM), and Method of Moments (MM). A comprehensive goodness-of-fit assessment of these methods revealed that GM and MLM exhibited superior performance, making them suitable for determining Weibull parameters in the summer, winter, and the entire year. Through a rigorous examination and evaluation of the shape and scale parameters within each subzone across the summer, winter, and the entire year periods, the study identified the Rayleigh distribution as the typical pattern for low WS in building energy-efficient design. The over-exploitation of groundwater and the deterioration of its quality have heightened the importance of non-traditional water resources, such as mine water. The study of the water's chemical characteristics and the formation mechanism of high-salinity mine water in semi-arid regions holds significant importance for zero discharge and the resource utilization of mine water in Northwest China. In this study, a total of 38 groundwater and mine water samples were collected to examine the hydrogeochemical characteristics of high-salinity mine water using Piper diagrams and Gibbs diagrams, as well as isotope analyses and ion ratio coefficients. Additionally, the corresponding mine water treatment recommendations were put forward. The results show that the TDS content of groundwater increases with hydrographic depth. The average TDS concentration of Quaternary, Luohe, and Anding groundwater is 336.87, 308.67, and 556.29 mg/L, respectively. However, the TDS concentration of Zhiluo groundwater and mine water is 2768.57 and 3826.40 mg/L, respectively, which belong to high-salinity water. The Quaternary, Luohe, and Anding groundwater hydrochemical type is predominantly HCO3-Ca type, and the Zhiluo groundwater and mine water hydrochemical type is predominantly the SO4-Na type. Furthermore, there is minimal difference observed in δD and δ18O values among these waters. It can be inferred that the Zhiluo Formation in groundwater serves as the primary source of mine water supply, primarily influenced by the processes of concentration caused by evaporation. The high salinity of mine water is closely related to the high salinity of Zhiluo groundwater. The high salinity of groundwater has evolved gradually under the control of the concentration caused by evaporation and rock-weathering processes. The dissolution of salt rock, gypsum, along with other minerals, serves as the material basis for high-salinity groundwater formation. In addition, the evolution of major ions is also affected by cation exchange. The TDS concentration of mine water ranges from 3435.4 mg/L to 4414.3 mg/L, and the combined treatment process of nanofiltration and reverse osmosis can be selected to remove the salt. The early ceratopsians Psittacosaurus and Protoceratops have provided important information on dinosaurian development because of abundant specimens of adults, subadults, juveniles, and even hatchlings. Here we present new data and methods for identifying key growth stages from bone histology. Previous studies on Psittacosaurus lujiatunensis from the Early Cretaceous Jehol Biota of China did not present in-depth analysis of growth patterns. Based on a histological study of 43 thin sections from 17 individuals of this species, we recognize four histological ontogenetic stages, i.e., hatchling, juvenile, sub-adult, and adult, but no fully-grown stage. We estimate life history and longevity from diaphyseal growth line counts and other features of histology. We show that P. lujiatunensis grew fast in early stages (hatchling, juvenile, and subadult), according to the density of vascular canals and the different type of bone tissue; the deposition of parallel fibred bone tissue in the outer cortex of the subadult stage indicates that growth rate was slowing down. We introduce a new graphical method to estimate the occurrence and volumes of vascular canals from thin sections more accurately than current two-dimensional approaches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

While aqueous-phase processing is known to contribute to the formation of nitrogen-containing organic compounds (NOCs), the specific pathways involved remain poorly understood. In this study, we aimed to characterize the NOCs present in both pre-fog aerosols and fog water collected at a suburban site in northern China. Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry was utilized to analyze the molecular composition of NOCs in both negative and positive modes of electrospray ionization (ESI - and ESI +). In both pre-fog aerosols and fog water samples, NOCs constituted a significant portion, accounting for over 60 % of all assigned formulas in ESI - and more than 80 % in ESI +. By comparing the molecular composition of NOCs originating from biomass burning, coal combustion, and vehicle emissions, we identified that 72.3 % of NOCs in pre-fog aerosols were attributed to primary anthropogenic sources (pNOCs), while the remaining NOCs were categorized as secondary NOCs formed within the aerosols (saNOCs). Unique NOCs found in fog water were classified as secondary NOCs formed within the fog water (sfNOCs). Through a comprehensive "precursor–product pair" screening involving 39 reaction pathways, we observed that the nitration reaction, the amine pathway, and the intramolecular N-heterocycle pathway of NH 3 addition reactions contributed 43.6 %, 22.1 %, and 11.6 % of saNOCs, respectively. In contrast, these pathways contributed 26.8 %, 28.4 %, and 29.7 % of sfNOCs, respectively. This disparity in formation pathways is likely influenced by the diverse precursors, the aqueous acidity, and the gas-phase species partitioning. Correspondingly, saNOCs were found to contain a higher abundance of carbohydrate-like and highly oxygenated compounds with two nitrogen atoms compared to pNOCs. Conversely, sfNOCs exhibited a higher content of lipid-like compounds with fewer oxygen atoms. These results underscore the distinct secondary processes contributing to the diversity of NOCs in aerosols and fog water, which may lead to their different climate effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the globalization trend, China's cultural heritage is in danger of gradually disappearing. The protection and inheritance of these precious cultural resources has become a critical task. This paper focuses on the Miao batik culture in Guizhou Province, China, and explores the application of knowledge graphs, natural language processing, and deep learning techniques in the promotion and protection of batik culture. We propose a dual-channel mechanism that integrates semantic and visual information, aiming to connect batik pattern features with cultural connotations. First, we use natural language processing techniques to automatically extract batik-related entities and relationships from the literature, and construct and visualize a structured batik pattern knowledge graph. Based on this knowledge graph, users can textually search and understand the images, meanings, taboos, and other cultural information of specific patterns. Second, for the batik pattern classification, we propose an improved ResNet34 model. By embedding average pooling and convolutional operations into the residual blocks and introducing long-range residual connections, the classification performance is enhanced. By inputting pattern images into this model, their categories can be accurately identified, and then the underlying cultural connotations can be understood. Experimental results show that our model outperforms other mainstream models in evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, achieving 94.46%, 94.47%, 93.62%, and 93.8%, respectively. This research provides new ideas for the digital protection of batik culture and demonstrates the great potential of artificial intelligence technology in cultural heritage protection. Fishing ports are important fishery production platforms, and the transformation of these has had a profound impact on the fishing industry. A reasonable classification solution is crucial for scientific understanding, development, and management of fishing ports. Current research on the use of spatial distributional characterization and the construction of a classification system for fishing ports to improve their management is limited. Therefore, in this study, a fishing port classification system was constructed using remote sensing images, with fishing port boundaries accurately extracted for classification. Using graphical summarization, fishing ports were classified into five types, including inland, estuarine, shoreline, gulf, and islands. A port type identification system was also constructed based on distance from the shoreline, water area, and circulation. Finally, fishing port characteristics and differences were investigated based on spatial superposition. The results demonstrate that shoreline and gulf types are the most prevalent fishing port types along the Chinese coast, accounting for 43% and 26% of the total number of fishing ports, respectively. This provides a strong foundation for China's fishery production, processing, and trade. Through the establishment of a comprehensive scientific classification system, fishing port management can be modernized, supporting the sustainable development and utilization of coastal zones. Residential historic areas are currently the main focus of urban renewal efforts in China, primarily consisting of traditional residential buildings with similar characteristics. Hence, the visual coherence of buildings (VCoB) plays a crucial role in such areas, not only pertaining to the visual quality of the urban landscape but also regarding the preservation of historic features. The accurate measurement of the VCoB is a prerequisite for undertaking optimization efforts. However, discussions of the VCoB in the built environment are limited and seldom address residential historic areas, and methods for measuring the VCoB have yet to be refined. Therefore, taking the Xiaoxihu Historic Area in Nanjing as a case study, this work aimed to develop a more refined method for measuring the VCoB in residential historic areas based on objective physical features. The method is mainly based on the human-level perspective, identifying three key visual elements within this perspective as the objects of measurement. It collected visual data through photography, with deep learning and computer graphics processing tools being utilized to identify and extract the visual elements. Then, the study established a corresponding framework of indicators for different visual elements and optimizes the methods for indicator calculation. Through an assessment involving professionals, we validated the high accuracy of the measurement method proposed in this study. Furthermore, the study discusses factors affecting the VCoB, methods to enhance the VCoB, and the required degree of the VCoB based on the results of the measurement. Introduction: The reservoir-forming rule in the paleo-slope zone outside petroliferous basins' source kitchens of the eastern basin in China is unclear, manifested in the distribution of oil and gas in complex multi-layers. This study focuses on petroleum migration along faults and sandbodies to clarify this question and improve the exploration efficiency of petroleum in areas with similar geological conditions. Method: We summarized two models of petroleum migration based on two factors: the connected sandbodies and the vertical unsealing faults. Model I is conducive to the migration of hydrocarbons within a single layer, while Model II is conducive to the vertical migration of hydrocarbons across layers. Combining the means for evaluating fault sealing and sandbody connectivity, integrating these models could form a set of characterization methods for the distribution of the complex fluid migration pathways. Results: This method is applied to characterize the complex multilayer migration pathways distribution in the first and second members of the Shahejie Formation in the central-southern area of the Wen'an Slope in the Baxian Sag, Jizhong Depression, Bohai Bay Basin, China. The results show that, in the first and second members of the Shahejie Formation in the central-southern area of the Wen'an Slope, the area for Model II is mainly distributed in the central- eastern regions. The second member has a Model I area distributed in its western region, and the first member has a Model I area distributed in its centraleastern parts. The latter distribution area is larger than the former. According to hydrocarbon migration analysis, the first member is more conducive to large regional migration and accumulation of hydrocarbons than the second member. Discussion: The predicted result of petroleum migration is consistent with the hydrocarbon distribution found in the central-southern areas of the Wen'an Slope, which is that oil and gas distribution in the first member is significantly greater than that in the second member. Thus, our method is feasible for characterizing the regional distribution of complex multi-layer migration pathways in simple tectonic setting and oil source conditions. A considerable number of coal mines employed room and pillar mining in the last century in northern China, where the goaf remained stable for a period of time; however, with the increased exposure of coal pillars, their collapse may gradually increase. The stability assessment of these old rooms and pillar goafs is challenging due to their concealment, irregular mining patterns, and the long passage of time. The methodology developed in this study, based on "space-sky-earth" remote sensing such as InSAR to trace historical deformation, the UAV observation of current surface damage, and comparison of mining spaces, can rapidly detect on a large scale the collapse of old goafs and the trend of damage. This study is conducted with an example of a coal mine in Yulin, Northern China, where obtained quantitative surface deformation values were integrated with qualitative surface damage interpretation results, followed by a yearly analysis of the overlying rock movement in accordance with the underground coal mining process. The results show that from 2007 to 2021, corresponding surface deformation and damage occurred following mining progress. However, the room and pillar goaf areas had not undergone any surface deformation, nor had there been incidents of landslides or ground fissures; therefore, it was speculated that no roof collapse had occurred in this region. The surface deformation and damage associated with underground coal mining are complex and influenced by the coal seam occurrence, mining methods, strata lithology, terrain slope, temporal evolution, and anthropogenic modifications. After the pandemic, as it becomes more feasible to study and work from home, the quality of residential daylighting has attracted increasing attention. With the rapid growth of high-density residential areas, China is confronted with the incoordination between site planning and interior daylight availability across a wide region. Therefore, this paper investigates the applicability of planning regulations for daylight availability in dense residential areas under different climates across China, with the aim of providing data to optimize design strategies. ClimateStudio and ALFA were used to calculate the daylight factor (DF), daylight illuminance, spatial daylight autonomy (sDA), useful daylight illuminance (UDI), and melanopic equivalent daylight illuminance (m-EDI) of living rooms in four practical mixed housing estates in different Chinese daylight climate zones. The results showed that most of the studied units failed to meet current standards of DF and sDA300,50% for residence. However, more than half of these units still had high potential for UDI and met the recommendation of m-EDI by daylight only. The results verified the importance of integrative consideration of the local daylight climate and interior unit design for residential area layout planning. Finally, this paper suggests two topics for further exploration to bridge the gap between area planning and interior daylight availability in dense residential areas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Academic Grit Scale (AGS) is a novel measure of academic-specific grit. However, its factor structure and measurement invariance have yet to be thoroughly supported. The present study tested the factor structure and measurement invariance of the AGS with a large sample of early adolescents (aged 9–14 years) from China (N = 1,894). The bifactor model showed that the AGS was predominately accounted for by the general factor rather than the domain-specific factors; the parallel model from the AGS's one-factor model showed good fit indices; thus, the AGS should be described as a univocal solution and reported as the total score. Gender and grade measurement invariance were supported at a scalar level, warranting further mean difference comparisons. In addition, academic grit was significantly associated with positive academic emotions and academic achievement, yielding evidence of good criteria-related validity. The academic ramification of research is that it is one of few that provides a comprehensive analysis of regional market cointegration. One of this study methods is application of pairwise cointegration that is useful for figuring out strength of long-term link amid two variables. In order to reap benefits of diversity, it is better to invest locally rather than traveling to another region, which is why this study investigates new options for academicians to examine long-term interaction between regional stock markets. Study employs most efficient pairwise cointegrated approach to illustrate precise link amid two variables. Daily data of these countries' stock market indices from 2002-2018, used to study stock market co-movement/co-integration. The statistical tests were applied like Dickey Fuller test, regression & covariance. Pairwise co-integration is examined after confirming combine co integration of three markets. Results show that there is no cointegration amid stock markets of Pakistan China & India. Total organic carbon (TOC) content is a key indicator for determining the hydrocarbon content of shale. The current model for calculating the TOC content of shale is relatively simplistic, the modeling process is cumbersome, and the parameters involved are influenced by subjective factors, which have certain shortcomings. To address this problem, a time-domain convolutional neural network (TCN) model for predicting total organic carbon content based on logging sequence information was established by starting from logging sequence information, conducting logging parameter sensitivity analysis experiments, prioritizing logging-sensitive parameters as model feature vectors, and constructing a TCN network. Meanwhile, to overcome the problem of an insufficient sample size, a five-fold cross-validation method was used to train the TCN model and obtain the weight matrix with the minimum error, and then a shale reservoir TOC content prediction model based on the TCN model was established. The model was applied to evaluate the TOC logging of the Lianggaoshan Formation in the Sichuan Basin, China, and the predicted results were compared with the traditional ΔlogR model. The results indicate that the TCN model predicts the TOC content more accurately than the traditional model, as demonstrated by laboratory tests. This leads to a better application effect. Counties in China play a pivotal role in economic and social development, acting as essential leadership hubs for large and medium-sized cities, contributing to rural revitalization, and facilitating urban-rural integration. Using ArcGIS spatial analysis, this study examines the population distribution spatial and dispersion patterns in Chinese counties based on 40 years of data from the first to the seventh national population census. Results reveal noticeable growth trends and regional disparities in county populations, with an increase in large-population counties and a decrease in small-population ones. Recent population growth concentrates in urban agglomerations, metropolitan areas, and southeastern coastal regions, while reductions occur in the northeastern and Inner Mongolia border areas. Furthermore, the study identifies "high-high" agglomerations around provincial capitals and "low-low" agglomerations in economically underdeveloped western and northeastern border regions. China's population distribution spatial agglomeration has been increasing, with acceleration toward specific areas. The first through seventh census show rapid growth at low density, followed by growth at medium density, stable growth, and eventually negative growth. This suggests a likely slowdown and potential reversal in China's future population growth. Additionally, an Auto Regression Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model is employed to forecast China's total population, projecting a decline to 1343.68 million by 2035. The emergence of "population loss counties" in contemporary China underscores the need for a rational understanding of their development status and trends to optimize population development strategies and promote economic and social progress. Sag is one of the important indicators for judging whether a transmission line is safe. The existing sag calculation method does not consider the temperature difference between conductor strands, causing the calculated results to often deviate from the values measured with a theodolite. In this article, a sag calculation method considering the temperature difference between strands is proposed. First, finite element analysis and experiments were used to analyze the temperature differences between each area and layer of the conductor when the wind blew the conductor, and then a correction calculation model for the conductor sag was proposed. Next, a sag monitoring system based on four-point temperature measurement was designed. Finally, the method was applied to a ±400 kV transmission line in Qinghai Province, China. The results show that after considering the temperature difference in the conductor strands, the error of the sag calculation result is much smaller than that without considering the temperature difference in the conductor strands, and the maximum relative error is reduced from 7.86% to less than 2%. Wind power curtailment becomes a major problem in many countries. The wind accommodation mechanisms and energy saving potentials for the combined heat and power plant with thermal energy storage, electric heat pump and both should be evaluated more systematically and accurately to accommodate more wind power. Heat-power peak shaving capacities for thermal energy storage, electric heat pump and both are analyzed using a graphical method, while the operation strategy is proposed to maximize wind accommodation. A simulation model for wind power accommodation considering the energy balances and constraints of all production units is developed based on EnergyPRO. A regional energy supply system in Jilin Province, China is selected as the case study, where the influences of different peak shaving technologies and their parameters on the wind accommodation and energy saving are studied. The wind curtailment ratio is reduced from 20.31% to 13.04% and 7.51% with thermal energy storage and electric heat pump respectively, and it is further reduced to 4.21% with both. Systems with electric heat pump can save energy from 1.1% to 5.8% with different parameters of the peak shaving devices. It was found that electric heat pump has better accommodation capability than that of thermal energy storage. Wind accommodation can be improved by adding thermal energy storage to electric heat pump, but the effect gradually decreases as the storage size increases. Electric heat pump can increase the system's energy efficiency, but it is not always energy efficient by adding thermal energy storage to electric heat pump. Respirable particulate matter (PM10) is atmospheric particulate matter with a kinetic diameter of less than or equal to 10 μm in air. According to the definition of the World Health Organization, it is called thoracic-enterable particulate matter because it can enter the body through the respiratory tract and be deposited into the lungs or absorbed into the blood and lymphatic systems. The toxic substances in it can enter the bloodstream directly and cause serious harm to human health. In addition, PM10 has unique physiological and biological effects, making it an important area of atmospheric chemistry research. In this study, two urban neighborhoods and sports companies were selected for the purpose of investigating the effects of PM10 concentrations in the air of neighborhoods and workplaces on people living and working in these environments for a long period of time, as well as synergistic effects between PM10 concentrations and changes in temperature and the incidence of related diseases. By assessing the extent of PM10's impact on the respiratory system, this study provides basic data for assessing the health hazards of particulate matter in community environments. This study also analyzed the synergistic effects between air pollutant concentrations, temperature changes, and the incidence of related diseases in two cities to investigate the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of air pollution and the meteorological causes of pollution in China. On this basis, we established a prediction model for related sensitivity diseases to provide theoretical and technical support for the prediction of related sensitivity diseases on a nationwide scale. Meanwhile, our study also provides support to relevant government departments to formulate a scientific basis and preventive and control measures for dealing with air pollution and its effects on human health. Atmospheric organic aerosol (OA) affects air quality and human health. However, compared with urban areas, the chemical composition and temporal distribution of OA in rural regions are still not well understood. In this study, one-year atmospheric particles with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter of ≤2.5 μm (PM2.5) were collected at a rural site in Quzhou County, the North China Plain (NCP), from August 2020 to July 2021. OA in PM2.5 samples were analyzed with an ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatograph (UHPLC) coupled to an ultrahigh-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometer in negative mode (ESI−). The results show that the chemical composition and properties of OA varied in different seasons. According to the hierarchical cluster analysis, the molecular formulas of winter OA were close to those in spring, whereas the chemical composition of OA in summer and autumn was similar. The O/C ratio of summer OA was the highest at 1.21, followed by that in autumn (0.92) and spring (0.87), while the winter OA had the lowest O/C ratio of 0.64. It indicates that, compared to the other three seasons, OA underwent more intense oxidation processes in the summer. Moreover, winter OA contained more aromatic compounds with a relative peak abundance fraction of 40%, which may be related to anthropogenic sources (e.g., coal burning) in the winter in the NCP. Aim: As invasive plants are often in a non‐equilibrium expansion state, traditional species distribution models (SDMs) are likely underestimating their suitable habitat. New methods are necessary to identify potential invasion risk areas. Location: Tropical monsoon rainforest and subtropical evergreen broad‐leaved forest regions in China. Methods: We took Parthenium hysterophorus as a case study to predict its potential invasion risk using climate, terrain, and human activity variables. First, a generalized joint attribute model (GJAM) was constructed using the occurrence of P. hysterophorus and its 27 closely related species in Taiwan, given it is widely distributed in Taiwan. Based on the output correlation values, two positively correlated species (Cardiospermum halicacabum and Portulaca oleracea) and one negatively correlated species (Crassocephalum crepidioides) were selected as indicator species. Second, the distributions of P. hysterophorus and its indicator species in the study area were predicted separately using an ensemble model (EM). Third, when selecting indicator species to construct indicator SDMs, two treatments (indicator species with positive correlation only, or both positive and negative correlation) were considered. The indicator species' EM predictions were overlaid using a weighted average method, and a better indicator SDMs prediction result was selected by comparison. Finally, the EM prediction result of P. hysterophorus was used to optimize the indicator SDMs result by a maximum overlay. Results: The optimized indicator SDMs prediction showed an expanded range beyond the current geographic range compared to EM and the thresholds for predicting key environmental variables were wider. It also reinforced the human activities' influence on the potential distribution of P. hysterophorus. Main Conclusions: For invasive plants with expanding ranges, information about indicator species distribution can be borrowed as a barometer for areas not currently invaded. Geothermal resources are the vital renewable energy for resolving energy crisis and environmental deterioration. Understanding hydrogeochemical processes, genesis mechanisms and scaling trends is crucial for securing the sustainable utilization of geothermal resources. In this study, fourteen geothermal waters were collected for hydrochemical and δ2H–δ18O isotopic analyses in northwestern Sichuan, SW China to clarify hydrogeochemical processes, genesis mechanisms, and scaling trends. Geothermal waters were recharged via atmospheric precipitation. Three different types of geothermal waters were identified using a piper diagram. Class 1 geothermal water with HCO3–Na and HCO3–SO4–Na types formed in the contact zone with Yanshanian intrusions and heated by residual radioactive heat. The hydrochemical processes were sodium/potassium silicate dissolution and positive cation–exchange. Class 2 geothermal water with HCO3–Ca and HCO3–Ca–Mg type was carbonate–type and heated by geothermal gradient. The dissolution of carbonate minerals dominated the hydrochemical process. Class 3 geothermal water with the SO4–Ca–Mg type was determined within deep faults. The dissolution of carbonatite and gypsum minerals and the oxidation of sulfides played a vital role in the hydrochemical process. The reservoir temperatures of geothermal waters followed the orders of Class 1 (74.9–137.6 °C) > Class 3 (85.9–100 °C) > Class 2 (38.7–93.5 °C). Calcium carbonate scaling should be paid attention to in Class1 and Class 3 geothermal water, and calcium sulfate scaling merely occurs in Class 3 geothermal water. Pea (Pisum sativum L.) is a vital leguminous crop farmed worldwide. Pea plays an essential role in China's crop rotation system, but the major restrictions to its cultivation are stability and low yield. Breeding for promising cultivars with a significantly high yield will impact the sustainability of pea production. Additionally, diverse environment trials are crucial in determining the best genotype. The new cultivar "Yunwan 52" was developed by hybridization and subsequently evaluated through yield trials among six pea genotypes across 14 environments during the 2016–2018 growing seasons. The results showed that the average yield of "Yunwan 52" for all tested environments was 2.64 t ha−1 compared to the control cultivar (Yunwan 18, 1.83 t ha−1). Analysis of AMMI variance showed significant differences (p < 0.01) between genotypes, environments, and their interaction. Based on the GGE biplot, some genotypes possessed wide and narrow adaptability to environments, such as Yunwan 52 was considered the most stable and ideal gen-otype across all tested environments. GYT biplot analysis also revealed that this realized cultivar was a superior and stable genotype that can be identified visually by combining all characters in breeding programs. Yunwan 52 distinguishes with purple blossoms and seed coat peas. It is possible to infer that the newly released cultivar "Yunwan 52" has outstanding yield performance and wide adaptability to multiple environmental conditions (resilience to abiotic stress). Solar irradiation in aquatic systems can induce the conversion of substances from the solid to the dissolved phase (photodissolution). Yet, the photochemical release of dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) from internal particles in lakes remains largely unknown. In this study, suspensions of algal detritus and sediment particles from a shallow eutrophic lake were exposed to simulated solar irradiation, and the release and compositional changes of dissolved organic matter were explored by measuring their UV–Visible absorption spectroscopy and ultrahigh resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS). The photochemical release of inorganic nitrogen during the incubations was also investigated. Results showed that light irradiation induced stronger dissolved organic carbon and DON production in the algal detritus suspensions, with release rates of 1.17 mg C L−1 h−1 and 0.14 mg N L−1 h−1, respectively, at an algal detritus concentration of 0.1 dry g L−1. Light irradiation also induced compositional changes of DON in both algal and sediment suspensions. A larger number of DON molecules with lower molecular weight were continuously released in the algal suspensions, e.g., the total number of DON formulas increased from 1349 to 4135 during an 8 h irradiation. In contrast, upon irradiation of sediment suspensions, DON showed decreased molecular diversity and increased aromaticity. The photochemical release of ammonium (photoammonification) was also higher in the algal suspensions with a rate of 0.015 mg N L−1 h−1, which may contribute to the eutrophication of the lake. The parameter matching of composite energy storage systems will affect the realization of control strategy. In this study, the effective energy and power utilizations of an energy storage source were defined. With the miniaturization of a composite energy storage system as the optimization goal, the linear programming simplex method was employed to obtain the optimized masses of Li batteries and supercapacitors under the constraints of maximum speed, climbing gradient, acceleration time and cost-effectiveness. As the module numbers shall be integers, the matching results were modified in combination with the graphical method. Owing to the influences of parameter matching schemes on the overall performance and battery life, the critical points of constraints were analyzed and the most appropriate matching numerical points of the composite energy storage system were identified. Simulation and experimental analysis were conducted under practical urban road conditions in China. The results show that the proposed matching method delivers accurate results. High-temperature hydrothermal systems are mainly distributed in the north–south graben systems of southern Tibet as an important part of the Mediterranean–Tethys Himalayan geothermal belt in mainland China. As the largest unit capacity and second stable operating geothermal power station in China, Yangyi is the fracture-controlled type geothermal field in the center of Yadong–Gulu Graben. In this paper, hydrogeological and hydrochemical characteristics, isotope composition (δD and δ18O, 87Sr/86Sr and δ11B) of borehole water, hot springs, and surface river samples were analyzed. From the conservative elements (such as Cl− and Li+) and δD and δ18O values, the geothermal water of the Yangyi high-temperature geothermal field is estimated to be of meteoric origin with the contributions of chemical components of the magmatic fluid, which is provided by partially molten granite as a shallow magmatic heat source. According to logging data, the geothermal gradient and terrestrial heat flow value of the Yangyi high-temperature geothermal field are 6.48 ℃/100 m and 158.37 mW m−2, respectively. Combining the hydrothermal tracer experiment, 87Sr/86Sr and δ11B ratios obtained with gradually decreasing reservoir temperatures from the Bujiemu stream geothermal zone to Qialagai stream geothermal zone, we suggested the deep geothermal waters were mixed with local cold groundwater and then flow northeastward, forming the shallow reservoir within the crushed zone and intersect spot of faults in the Himalayan granitoid. Furthermore, in the process of ascent, the geothermal water is enriched in K+, Na+, and HCO3− during the interaction with underlying Himalayan granitoid and pyroclastic rocks that occur as wall rocks. Grain size analysis of flood sediments is a key method for understanding the sedimentary environments of rivers worldwide; however, there is limited knowledge of how to effectively reflect the sedimentary environment of lower Yellow River (Huang He) flood events using grain size parameters. In this study, two widely used grain size analysis methods, the graphic method (GM) and moment method (MM), were compared, and their applicability to flood sediment analysis in the lower Yellow River was evaluated. Modern flood sediments (n = 143) in the lower Yellow River featured a fine-grained texture and were classified as silty sand (4.95 ≤ Φ ≤ 5.03) characterized by an inadequate sorting ability. The grain size distribution patterns obtained using the GM and MM revealed positive and extremely positive deviations with sharp and flat peaks, respectively. A strong correlation (0.6966 ≤ R2 ≤ 0.9961) was observed between the mean grain size and the sorting coefficient obtained using the GM and MM. Thus, both methods were deemed suitable and could be used interchangeably. Our results indicate that the MM should be applied to assess skewness because it provided comprehensive information regarding flood sediments in the lower Yellow River, whereas the GM is recommended for kurtosis analysis, as it highlighted the primary sedimentary dynamics during flood events. Geothermal resources, as a representative of clean energy, has been paid significant attention in the world. Due to active neotectonics and widespread magmatic rocks, the abundant geothermal waters in the Kangding area have been investigated. Hydrochemistry and D–O–T isotopy studies were carried out to clarify the genetic mechanism of geothermal waters. The hydrochemical types of geothermal waters are mainly Ca2+–Na+–HCO3− type, Na+–Cl−–HCO3− type, and Na+–HCO3− type. Silicate dissolution and the cation exchange process are the water–rock interactions determining hydrochemical compositions. The recharge elevation of geothermal water was calculated to be 3034–3845 m, with an average of 3416 m. The reservoir temperatures of shallow and deep geothermal reservoirs vary from 50 to 115 °C and from 114 to 219 °C, respectively, and the mixing ratio of cold water is 0.56–0.89. This paper constructs a unique dataset of clean energy and adopts static panel models and dynamic panel specifications to explore the correlation between clean energy and CO2 emissions. Furthermore, this paper employs the interaction term of pilot areas and pilot time as the proxy of emission trading policy to examine the effect of China's emission trading pilot on clean energy. Then, this paper conducts quasi-natural experiments on CO2 emissions. Our findings show a negative correlation between CO2 emissions and clean energy. We also find that China's emission trading pilot has a significant impact on promoting clean energy. Ozone near the surface of the atmosphere directly stimulates the human respiratory tract and affects human health. In recent years, ozone pollution in China has become a serious problem, so controlling ozone pollution is an urgent task. Differential absorption lidar is a useful tool for detecting ozone concentration, but it cannot receive complete signals in the lower hundreds of meters because of the overlap factor. CCD imaging lidar technology can effectively solve this problem. A fitting method of inverting the ozone concentration profile using ultraviolet differential CCD imaging lidar is proposed in this paper. The effect of three different types of aerosol extinction coefficient, three different types of ozone concentration, and five different types of aerosol wavelength index on retrieving ozone concentrations was analyzed using simulation. For clean aerosol, the relative error of the retrieved ozone concentration is less than 5%. As to polluted aerosol, the relative error of the retrieved ozone concentration is less than 10%. As to heavily polluted aerosol, the relative error of the retrieved ozone concentration is less than 25%. The results show that the larger the value of the aerosol extinction coefficient, the larger the relative error of the retrieved ozone concentration; meanwhile, the lower the ozone concentration, the larger the relative error of the retrieved ozone concentration; at the same time, the further the aerosol wavelength index deviates from 1, the larger the relative error of the retrieved ozone concentration. The relative error of the retrieved ozone concentration in this case was about 4%. It is shown that this fitting method of retrieving ozone concentrations is reasonable and feasible. The temporal variations of water quality in rivers reflect the changes in the pollutant load of a basin to a certain extent. The temporal variations of pollution source structures reflect the changes in the contribution rates of different pollution sources. The temporal variations of water quality and pollution source structures were combined in this study to investigate and analyze the water pollution control effects on different pollution sources over 15 years in the upper Tuojiang River Basin (UTRB). The seasonal trend decomposition using loess (STL), principal component analysis (PCA), factor analysis (FA), absolute principal component score (APCS), and multiple linear regression (MLR) were employed in the analysis. According to the results, except for TN, the concentrations of BOD, AN, and TP showed a downward trend. The precipitation had a strong influence on the pollution seasonal patterns. BOD and AN were primarily influenced by urban and rural living sources, while the primary sources for TN and TP were agricultural NPS and phosphate chemical industry sources, respectively. The systematic and comprehensive pollution control strategies in the third stage (2016–2020) have become more effective. In particular, the reduction of TP was successfully achieved by strengthening the pollution abatement on phosphate chemical industry sources. Swine pathogens have a long history of zoonotic transmission to humans, occasionally leading to sustained outbreaks or pandemics. Through a retrospective epidemiological study of swine populations in China, we describe novel lineages of porcine hemagglutinating encephalomyelitis virus (PHEV) complex coronaviruses (CoVs) that cause exclusively respiratory symptoms with no signs of the neurological symptoms typically associated with classical PHEV infection. Through large-scale epidemiological surveillance, we show that these novel lineages have circulated in at least eight provinces in southeastern China. Phylogenetic and recombination analyses of twenty-four genomes identified two major viral lineages causing respiratory symptoms with extensive recombination within them, between them, and between classical PHEV and the novel respiratory variant PHEV (rvPHEV) lineages. Divergence times among the sampled lineages in the PHEV virus complex date back to 1886–1958 (mean estimate 1928), with the two major rvPHEV lineages separating approximately 20 years later. Many rvPHEV viruses show amino acid substitutions at the carbohydrate-binding site of hemagglutinin esterase (HE) and/or have lost the cysteine required for HE dimerization. This resembles the early adaptation of human CoVs, where HE lost its hemagglutination ability to adapt to growth in the human respiratory tract. Our study represents the first report of the evolutionary history of rvPHEV circulating in swine and highlights the importance of characterizing CoV diversity and recombination in swine to identify pathogens with outbreak potential that could threaten swine farming. The overall top-layer design for chemical production, carbon emission and production cost is significant for the sustainable development of chemical industry. Industrial structure adjustment and low-carbon technology retrofit are generally served as the alternatives for policymakers and plants to simultaneously meet the energy demand and carbon emission limit. To further extend the practical application of Carbon Emission Pinch Analysis (CEPA) for low-carbon methanol production planning on the supply side, this paper presents four scenarios for the methanol industry in 2020 in China. A graphical method of Chemical Production Pinch Analysis (CPPA) combining with the first-order and single-variable grey model (GM(1,1)) is conducted to analyze the interaction between energy demand and carbon emission. A two-step tabular method is also proposed to search the optimal planning for achieving the minimum production cost and CO 2 emission. The results show that the coal-to-methanol route would continually dominate the major share of methanol supply and CO 2 emission in the overall methanol industry due to the energy structure of China. Options of developing biomass-methanol technology, shifting the production share from coal to low-carbon routes and retrofitting with CO 2 capture and storage (CCS) in coal-methanol plants could be considered to simultaneously achieve the targets of energy supply, carbon emission constraint and minimum production cost. Karst groundwater is the main water source for domestic, industrial, and agricultural needs in Xingtai City, North China. The objective of this study was to comprehensively access changes in the hydrochemical characteristics and evolution of karst groundwater in response to rapid urbanization. Water samples from the late 2010s and the 1970s were compared utilizing statistical analysis, hydrochemical diagrams, and inverse simulation technology. The total dissolved solids (TDS), total hardness (TH), NO3−, and Fe contents were significantly higher in the more recently obtained karst groundwater samples. Further, the dominance of HCO3-Ca-type water decreased, with new types emerging, relative to 1970s karst groundwater. Abnormal TDS, TH, SO42−, NO3−, and Cl− concentrations can be attributed to sewage discharge and fertilizer. Two groundwater discharge areas around the center of Xingtai City and Yangfan Town in the south of the study area were the most significantly affected by human activities. However, inverse modeling indicated that the dissolution of gypsum and halite, as well as cation-exchange processes, occurred in the groundwater paths during both periods. Recent increases in ion concentrations of karst groundwater in the study area have caused carbonate minerals to dissolve, resulting in a further increase of ion concentrations. Studying the dynamic duration of technology adoption helps farmers weigh and select different attributes and stages of conservation tillage techniques. In this study, non-parametric K-M survival analysis and discrete duration models were employed to estimate the time taken by farmers in the Yellow River Basin region to transition from awareness to the adoption of conservation tillage techniques between 2002 and 2020. The results indicate (1) The duration from awareness to adoption of conservation tillage technology is relatively short. (2) The likelihood of farmers postponing adoption decisions is highest in the initial 10 years and gradually decreases over time, suggesting negative time dependency. (3) Controlling for proportional hazards assumptions, it was found that factors such as education level and social learning positively influence the duration from awareness to adoption of conservation tillage techniques. Extreme weather variations and household labor migration delay the adoption time for farmers. A hybrid method based on the structural equation model (SEM) and a fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) was developed to study the influences of the construction safety risks (CSR) of metro tunnels constructed by the mining method on the project risk (PR). An SEM was used to identify and verify the correlations between the CSR and PR. An FCM was developed adopting the verified standardized causality and path coefficient in the SEM. On this basis, predictive reasoning and diagnostic reasoning were performed in the framework of an FCM to simulate the CSR and PR. The feasibility of the developed method was validated based on the construction project of a metro tunnel in Wuhan City, China. The results show that (1) the cause concept node C2 (tunnel excavation) shows the strongest positive correlation with the target concept node CT (PR). According to their risks, the construction stages are ranked in descending order as C2 (tunnel excavation), C1 (advanced support), C6 (auxiliary measures), C4 (structure waterproofing), C3 (primary support), and C5 (secondary lining). (2) The target concept node CT is most sensitive to changes in the cause concept nodes C2 and C1. (3) Close attention should be paid to key risks, such as X9 (over-excavation and under-excavation) and X8 (unreasonable determination of excavation footage and sequence) in stage C2. The coastal zone area of Qionghai City is one of the important coastal zones in the South China Sea, and its water environment has been affected by human activities such as urbanization and industrialization. In order to protect the water resources and ecological environment of this area, the water chemistry characteristics of the main watersheds and their causes in the coastal zone area of eastern Hainan Island were investigated to provide a scientific basis for environmental protection and sustainable development. In this study, the characteristics and sources of water chemical ion components were analyzed using a Piper trilinear diagram, Gibbs diagram, and correlation analysis with the coastal zone area of Qionghai city as the research object. The results show the following: (1) the dominant cation of water chemistry in the coastal zone of Qionghai City is Na+ with a mean value of 35.001 mg·L−1, and the dominant anion is Cl− with a mean value of 30.69 mg·L−1; (2) the dominant cation content in the coastal zone of Qionghai City is Na+ > Ca2+ > Mg2+ > K+, and the dominant anion content is Cl− > SO42− > HCO3− > CO32−; (3) at the five collection sites in the study area, the ion concentrations showed different trends, with the highest ion concentration in the water samples collected from aquaculture ponds, and the main water chemistry type was Na-Cl; the lowest ion concentration was in the water samples collected from the rivers, and the main type of water chemistry was Ca·Mg-HCO3. The source of water chemistry ions in the study area mainly included seawater, rock weathering, atmospheric precipitation, and evaporation concentration. The results of this study can provide a scientific basis for the development, utilization, and management of local water resources and provide basic data for environmental protection and sustainable development. In China, complex fault blocks occupied an important position in the development of oilfields. Compared with monolithic sandstone reservoirs, complex fault blocks have the characteristics of complex and diverse structures and relatively developed low-level fault blocks. Such special oil reservoirs often have an impact on the development of the injection-production well pattern. Therefore, it is necessary to study its influence and optimize related deployment. According to the parameters of the selected example blocks, an ideal reservoir model is established and four well pattern distribution forms are designed. According to the simulation results, we will choose the best oil displacement pattern. Under the same physical and well pattern distribution conditions, the injected water or CO2 was simulated and the simulation results were compared. Finally, the influence of the fault length on the oil displacement effect on the two-dimensional plane of the entire reservoir was studied. The results show that under the condition of high injection-production pressure difference, well pattern 1 has the best water drive development effect. Comparing the oil saturation distribution cloud map of water flooding and gas flooding and the oil production rate curve of producing wells, CO2 is significantly better than water flooding in terms of oil displacement speed and production. After changing the length of the fault, it was found that due to the influence of the openness of the fault, as the length of the fault increases, the overall oil saturation distribution of the reservoir is greatly different. The initial oil production increases rapidly, but cumulative oil production changes. It is not obvious. Research reveals that the transfer of fault length affects the formation pressure and then changes the injection-production pressure difference and ultimately affects the initial oil production. The underground utility tunnels accommodate various types of urban lifelines, which are of great significance for improving the living standards of the citizens. With the rapid development of underground utility tunnels, the large-scale underground utility tunnel systems are gradually becoming the operational lifeblood of China's large cities. Currently, most of the underground utility tunnels' risks are estimated and analyzed from a static perspective, and the analysis results are one-sided. This study proposes a dynamic risk evaluation framework. A risk assessment and sensitivity analysis framework based on Bayesian network is established in this study. Combined with the groundwater and electric tunnel risk accident case study, the operation and maintenance data of Beijing Future Science and Technology City from 2010 to 2018 are collected for learning to obtain the conditional probability of the Bayesian network node by using the K2 algorithm. The overall evolution process from the beginning to the end of groundwater tunnel accidents is clearly described and displayed. Through sensitivity analysis and critical path analysis, the critical points of an accident and the probabilities of risk occurrence are identified and predicted. With the reform of China's urbanization increasing in popularity, the security issues posed by urban groundwater, especially groundwater in industrial areas, have attracted scholars' attention. This research aimed to predict and quantify the migration process of contaminants in a microconfined aquifer by conducting a groundwater contamination investigation in an abandoned chemical plant in the Jiangsu Province of China. First, data such as regional hydrogeological parameters and types of contaminants were obtained via hydrogeological drilling, groundwater well monitoring, pumping tests, and laboratory permeability tests, which helped identify the most serious pollution factor: chloroform. Then, a groundwater flow model was built using the Groundwater Modeling System (GMS) and verified using the general-purpose parameter estimation (PEST) package. In addition, based on the three-dimensional multi-species model for transport (MT3DMS) in GMS, a transport model was established. The results illustrate that the plume range of chloroform diffuses with water flow, but, because of its slow diffusion rate and inability to degrade naturally, the concentration of the contaminant has remained several times higher than the safety standard for a long time. The contaminant spread vertically to the soil layer above the microconfined aquifer under pressure, resulting in direct pollution. In addition, the contaminant in the microconfined aquifer is anticipated to migrate down to the clay layer and become enriched. However, the first confined aquifer has not been seriously polluted in the past 20 years. Finally, a sensitivity analysis of the parameters shows that groundwater contamination in the Yangtze delta region is greatly affected by precipitation recharge and hydraulic conductivity. Hydrogeochemical research and water quality evaluation are an important part of groundwater development and management projects in Dehui City, Jilin Province, China. We collected 217 groundwater samples in the study area and used two multivariate statistical methods, hierarchical cluster analysis and principal component analysis to classify groundwater; combined graphical method, piper diagram, and Gibbs diagram to characterize groundwater chemical types and distinguish the water chemical control mechanism; and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to evaluate groundwater quality. Three major categories have been identified. Most of the groundwater in the study area is Ca-HCO3 type water. The water chemistry control mechanism is determined to be based on water-rock interaction and less evaporation. From east to west in the study area, the total dissolved solids (TDS) gradually increased, and water quality gradually deteriorated. In the whole region, 79.26% of the groundwater is suitable for drinking. With Yinma River at the boundary, the water quality in the eastern part is excellent, while that in the southwest is poor. After appropriate treatment, it can be used in industry and agriculture. The excess NO3− is mainly affected by human activities. The unique geological conditions of the Songnen Plain result in an excess amount of Fe3+ and Mn2+ in some areas. This study determined the chemical characteristics of groundwater in the study area and distinguished water quality levels. In this study, full iron tailings concrete (FITC) was created using iron tailings from a tailings pond in Qian'an, China. Iron tailings account for 86.8% of the total mass of solid raw materials in the FITC. To enable large-scale use of FITC, a comprehensive investigation of the structural behaviour of full-iron tailing-reinforced concrete (FITRC) specimens is warranted. Therefore, eight rectangular reinforced concrete (RC) columns with conventional reinforced concrete (CRC) as a control were tested to investigate the effects of section dimensions, initial eccentricities, and concrete strengths, on the structural behaviour of FITRC columns under large eccentric short-term loading. The experimental and analytical results indicated that the sectional strain of the FITRC columns satisfied the plane-section assumption under short-term loading, and the lateral deflection curve agreed well with the half-sinusoidal curve. In addition, the FITRC columns exhibited a slightly lower cracking load and lower ultimate load capacity than the CRC columns, and the crack widths were larger than those of the CRC columns. The reduction in the load capacity observed in the FITRC was within the permissible range stated in the design code, thereby satisfying the code requirements. The deformation coefficients of the FITRC and CRC columns were identical, and the cracking and ultimate loads calculated according to the current code and theories were in good agreement with the measured results. Comparing the per capita incomes of urban and rural households reveals a sizable income disparity in the latter, as well as an uneven distribution of income across China's regions. This article discusses and ranks the drivers that affect rural development. Among the most critical are farmer support factors, transportation infrastructure development, information and communication technology development, and rural entrepreneurship. The decline in the Engel coefficient, which reflects changes in welfare and income elasticity estimates of food demand, and income elasticity itself, indicates that food demand for Chinese farmers has become extremely inelastic. The ranking of China's regions in terms of per capita income growth shows that the intended policy of wealth equalisation of the country's population is being followed. The objective is to modernise agriculture and reduce regional disparities for China to achieve the status of a moderately developed country shortly, which will require state assistance. The emphasis is on farmer welfare, rural areas, and agriculture. In the face of massive population densities, regional disparities, and vast heterogeneous territory, the land consolidation practice is demonstrated in various regions as a platform and lever for rural life revitalisation. Rural tourism development is defined as a means of generating additional jobs and ensuring the long‐term viability of villages. The rural elite's decisive role in leading the agricultural sector's restructuring is emphasised. As the main means to dovetail the domestic system with international rules, institutional openness is the key to deepening participation in the global economic governance system, breaking through energy and carbon emission constraints, and achieving green and sustainable economic development. Taking 284 prefecture-level cities in China from 2006 to 2019 as the research sample, this paper uses the establishment of Pilot Free Trade Zones as a quasi-natural experiment to systematically identify and test the actual impact of institutional openness on urban carbon emissions in China through the asymptotic difference in difference method, instrumental variables method, spatial econometric model, and mediating effects model. Meanwhile, technological progress is used as the entry point to analyze the intrinsic mechanism of action by adopting digital transformation oriented to efficiency improvement and green innovation capability oriented to R&D innovation as the differentiated perspective. It is found that institutional openness significantly suppresses urban CO2 emissions, and there is a certain heterogeneity and spatial spillover effect of this effect. Further study finds that institutional openness achieves carbon emission reduction through technological progress. Those who have been forced to resettle by water conservancy projects (WCP) have always been a group that is characterised by high poverty and livelihood vulnerability, mainly due to insufficient compensation and the fragmentation of their social networks. In 2020, the Chinese government announced that China had achieved comprehensive poverty alleviation, implying that all WCP-induced resettlers, have been lifted out of poverty. However, China's current poverty line is based on the minimum subsistence standard, namely the absolute poverty line, which fails to objectively reflect China's uneven development and individuals' actual consumption needs. Therefore, in order to comprehensively analyse the poverty status of WCP-induced resettlers in contemporary China, this paper reassessed the poverty status of contemporary WCP-induced resettlers from the perspective of development-based poverty and consumption-based poverty. Based on survey data from over 1000 households who were forced to resettle due to China's 'Yangtze River to Huai River Inter-basin Water Diversion' project, this paper concludes that: (1) China's current absolute poverty line is outdated for contemporary WCP-induced resettlers, due to the fact they had basically been lifted out of absolute poverty by 2018, and those who remain poor need to be addressed through the bottom line guarantee of local governments; (2) the role of land as a form of basic insurance can alleviate income inequality and mitigate the risk of force majeure. Therefore, those resettled from rural areas have stronger income stability and greater resilience to risks; (3) the poverty status of contemporary WCP-induced resettlers is mainly consumption-based, and it is worse for resettlers from urban areas. Based on these conclusions, we suggest that the government should try to avoid large-scale relocation of WCP-induced resettlers to urban areas, and try to provide more insurances to them, such as providing arable land and sharing the benefits of water conservancy projects with the resettlers. This research constructs a double difference model to test the impact of LCCP on green innovation by using urban panel data of 276 cities in China from 2005 to 2019. Findings show that LCCP effectively improves the level of green innovation performance, and the conclusion is robust. Its effect is more obvious in cities with high scientific and educational levels as well as big cities or eastern cities of the country. LCCP enhances the performance of urban green innovation by driving technological innovation, upgrading the industrial structure, and optimizing urban public services. Climate change is a global scientific problem, and its impact on the spatiotemporal variations of precipitation has been a crucial research topic. Although previous studies have used different methods to evaluate the precipitation characteristics of the Huaihe River Basin, the time series were short and the few stations could not fully and accurately represent the precipitation characteristics. In this study, daily temperature and precipitation data were collected from 233 meteorological stations in the Huaihe River Basin from 1960–2020. The Mann–Kendall test was used to analyze the trend and significance of interannual and interseasonal scale changes in temperature and precipitation in the Basin, respectively. The correlation between temperature and precipitation was analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficient method. The spatial distribution of the significance of temperature and precipitation changes and the spatial distribution of the correlation between temperature and precipitation in the basin were plotted. The temperature in the basin tended to increase on interannual and interseasonal scales, with more noticeable changes in spring and winter. Precipitation showed an overall decreasing trend but an increasing trend in localized areas in the south. A decreasing trend in the interseasonal variation scale was observed in spring, an increasing trend in winter, a decreasing trend in the northeastern region in summer, an increasing trend in the southwestern region, and an increasing trend in the northern and southern parts in autumn were observed. The correlation between average temperature and precipitation on interannual and interseasonal scales was analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient method, and the annual average temperature and annual average precipitation in the Huaihe River basin were found to be negatively correlated, except for sporadic areas that showed extremely weakly positive correlations or no correlations.
