The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many college students in developing countries to engage in online learning for the first time, and the sudden transit has raised concerns regarding students' competencies for, perception of, and attitude towards online learning. To address those concerns, this study measured three essential constructs of online learning (self-regulated learning, perceived presences, and learning motivation) based on a national survey in China (N = 12,826) and employed structural equation modeling to investigate their intertwined relationship. The study results reveal that (1) college students' academic achievement cannot effectively predict their self-regulated learning in an online learning context; (2) self-regulation can be further differentiated into general and task-specific strategies with a varying impact on three types of presences; (3) online learning motivation is best predicted by cognitive presence, followed by social presence and teaching presence; and (4) the path of task-specific self-regulated learning [right arrow] cognitive presence [right arrow] online learning motivation generates the largest positive compound effect. Implications for online teaching and learning practice are also discussed through the stakeholder perspectives of students, teachers, and platform developers.

This article first put forward the educational application of immersive virtual laboratories for the problems of poor spatial thinking ability and weak hands-on operation ability. Second, aiming at the problems of a lack of excellent backbone teachers and insufficient educational information equipment, a Tibetan-Chinese bilingual immersion virtual basic teaching system suitable for students in pastoral areas has been developed to complement the teaching of teachers in remote areas. Third, the application of virtual gymnasiums is proposed to reduce the physical discomfort of students under harsh conditions. And then the application of virtual vocational technical training is proposed for poor employment situations in agro-pastoralism areas. Finally, the Tibetan-Chinese bilingual immersive virtual basic teaching system developed for pastoral students was put into use for a short period of time in the farming and pastoral schools and was well received by the pastoral students, and the teachers also gave feedback that the system has now improved at least the concentration of the student.

Patients with stroke usually use smartphones to obtain online information to maintain their health. But their ability to identify, evaluate and apply this information is still unknown. This study was designed to examine the reliability and validity of the electronic Health Literacy Scale among patients with stroke in China. This is a cross-sectional survey. A demographic questionnaire, the electronic Health Literacy Scale (e-HLS) and the eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS) were administered to a sample of 648 patients with ischemic stroke recruited from December 2020 to March 2021 in a tertiary hospital. The Cronbach'α coefficient on the e-HLS-CHI was 0.907. Kappa consistency coefficient of test-retest reliability was 0.691 (p <.05). Three factors were extracted by Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), accounting for 90.84% of the total variance. Confirmatory Factory Analysis (CFA) revealed that three factors of e-HLS-CHI fit well (NFI = 0.979, RFI = 0.955, IFI = 0.987, TLI = 0.972, CFI = 0.987, RMSEA = 0.070, CMIN/DF = 2.586). Good simultaneous validity was suggested by the positive correlation of 0.94 (p <.001) between the e-HLS-CHI and eHEALS. When using eHEALS as the standard, the area under the ROC curve of e-HLS-CHI was 0.896 (95% CI: 0.831–0.960, p <.001). The sensitivity and specificity were 97.8% and 70.4% respectively. The e-HLS can be used to evaluate electronic health literacy of patients with stroke in China after translation and cultural adaption. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Highlights • The park service areas are estimated by the distribution of park visitors. • Multi-source geographical data are used to delineate the park service area. • Park service area relates to park types. • External factors significantly affect park service area. Abstract The rapid process of urbanization aggravates the imbalance between the supply and demand of urban public services. Urban parks are among the most important urban public services, and their use efficiency has been an important index for urban planning. Therefore, it is essential to estimate well their service area and influencing factors. Traditional survey data used to analyze the characteristics of urban park services are limited by small samples and high cost. Owing to thriving information communication technologies, vast amounts of human activity data have become available that enable understanding of human travel behavior. In this study, we analyzed a park service area, which is defined as the zone of influence of individual parks, in Beijing, and the factors that influence the service area. First, the service area was estimated using 1-SDE based on mobile phone signaling data. A multiple linear regression model was then used to analyze the influence of factors on the park service area. The results show that (1) external factors including population density, the number of commercial facilities, and traffic convenience have significant influences on the park service area; (2) employment places positively influence the park service area on the weekday; and (3) other factors such as park design and park reputation had inconsistent effects on the park service area, in either sign or significance, regarding the weekday and the weekend.
