Named entity recognition is a critical task in the electronic medical record management system for rehabilitation robots. Handwritten documents often contain spelling errors and illegible handwriting, and healthcare professionals frequently use different terminologies. These issues adversely affect the robot's judgment and precise operations. Additionally, the same entity can have different meanings in various contexts, leading to category inconsistencies, which further increase the system's complexity. To address these challenges, a novel medical entity recognition algorithm for Chinese electronic medical records is developed to enhance the processing and understanding capabilities of rehabilitation robots for patient data. This algorithm is based on a fusion classification strategy. Specifically, a preprocessing strategy is proposed according to clinical medical knowledge, which includes redefining entities, removing outliers, and eliminating invalid characters. Subsequently, a medical entity recognition model is developed to identify Chinese electronic medical records, thereby enhancing the data analysis capabilities of rehabilitation robots. To extract semantic information, the ALBERT network is utilized, and BILSTM and MHA networks are combined to capture the dependency relationships between words, overcoming the problem of different meanings for the same entity in different contexts. The CRF network is employed to determine the boundaries of different entities. The research results indicate that the proposed model significantly enhances the recognition accuracy of electronic medical texts by rehabilitation robots, particularly in accurately identifying entities and handling terminology diversity and contextual differences. This model effectively addresses the key challenges faced by rehabilitation robots in processing Chinese electronic medical texts, and holds important theoretical and practical value.

Individual heating systems, such as the air-source heat pump (ASHP) air-conditioner or floor heating (FH), are usually used by people living in the hot summer and cold winter (HSCW) zone of China to heat indoor climates in the winter. However, little research has been conducted in the HSCW zone on the thermal comfort difference between indoor climates heated by ASHP air-conditioners and those heated by floor heating, as well as how occupants adapt to different indoor climates. We conducted a comparative field experiment in ASHP-heated and FH-heated apartments in Nanjing to investigate how different types of heating systems influence the thermal sensation of occupants, and we conducted a comparative field experiment in ASHP-heated office buildings and naturally ventilated teaching buildings in Shanghai to investigate how occupants adapt to different indoor thermal environments. Indoor environmental parameters and body surface temperatures were measured using instruments, and occupants' thermal sensation, activity level, and clothing were evaluated using the questionnaire. The results show that floor heating improves thermal comfort by raising foot temperature compared to the ASHP air-conditioner, and that occupants become acclimatized to different indoor climates by adjusting neutral operative temperature. According to the findings, there is no need to overheat the indoor environment in the HSCW zone because occupants can adapt to their experienced thermal environment and it is critical to maintain warm foot temperature in the cool/cold indoor environment., (© 2024. Urban agglomerations (UAs), which serve as pivotal hubs for economic and innovative convergence, play a crucial role in enhancing internal circulation and strengthening external linkages. This study utilizes the China city-level multi-regional input-output tables, incorporating the Dagum Gini coefficient and kernel density estimation methods, to perform a thorough quantitative analysis. Disparities within the national and global value chains ("dual value chains") of Chinese UAs from 2012 to 2017 were assessed. Additionally, the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method was applied to disaggregate the drivers of both national and global intermediate inputs (NII and GII). The study's key findings include the following: (1) The national value chain (NVC) within UAs exhibits robust growth, contrasting with the decline in the global value chain (GVC). (2) The inter-UA disparity contribution rate significantly surpasses the combined rates of intra-UA contribution and super-variation density. (3) Distinct evolutionary peak trends are discerned among various UAs within the "dual value chains", highlighting diverse spatial polarization characteristics and expansiveness. (4) The growth of the NVC has transitioned from a negative to a positive impact on NII, while the decline in GVC has substantially counteracted GII growth. Economic and demographic factors notably drive positive improvements in both NII and GII, whereas the efficiency of outflows presents a negative driving effect. Objective: To explore the classification of depressive symptoms in college students and the relationship between those symptoms and physical activity., Methods: A convenience sampling method was employed to enlist college students from Songjiang University Town in Shanghai to complete in the General Information Questionnaire, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, and Physical Activity Scale-3., Results: A total of 3541 students were analyzed, averaging 19.34 years of age with a male composition of 53 %. The participants can be classified into four categories, namely: Group 1, which exhibits the most severe depressive symptoms, including suicidal ideation and cognitive symptoms (11.07 %); Group 2, which only manifests cognitive symptoms without suicidal ideation (14.35 %); Group 3, which presents mild depressive symptoms (23.61 %); and Group 4, consisting of normal college students (50.97 %). Students with strained family and interpersonal relationships, high levels of academic stress, and low frequency of social activities were at higher risk for detecting suicidal intention and cognitive symptoms. The level of physical activity was significantly higher in the normal group than in the other groups (all P < 0.001), and only the frequency of exercise was significantly different among the remaining three groups (χ 2  = 14.716, P = 0.005). The detection rate of cognitive symptoms was significantly lower when exercising >3 times per week for 30-59 min (OR = 0.740, 95 % CI: 0.590-0.928; OR = 0.596, 95 % CI: 0.427-0.831).The detection rate of suicidal thoughts was significantly lower when exercising 2 times per month to 2 times per week or >3 times per week (OR = 0.585, 95 % CI: 0.404-0.847; OR = 0.392, 95 % CI: 0.258-0.595)., Conclusion: Suicidal ideation and cognitive symptoms can differentiate between various categories of depressive symptoms among college students. Digital economy has become a "new engine" that driving global economic growth. Nevertheless, numerous controversies persist regarding whether and how digital economy can facilitate the development of emerging industries. Thus, this paper investigates how digital economy affects creative industries development in China and whether innovation efficiency mediates this relationship. Drawing upon a panel data set containing 29 Chinese provinces from 2012 to 2019, an econometric model is constructed for empirical analysis. We find that digital economy significantly promotes creative industries development, and innovation efficiency plays a partial mediating role between digital economy and creative industries development. According to the influence mechanism, the digital economy of various regions could promote the creative industries development by improving the innovation efficiency. Microbes may induce endogenous phosphorus (P) migration from lacustrine sediment. This study focused on the role of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) disturbance in affecting the sediment P release and further contributing to cyanobacterial recruitment in Meiliang Bay, Lake Taihu. Gluconic acid was the main mechanism of phosphate solubilizing by PSB. The dominant PSB (Burkholderia) isolated from eutrophic lake sediments was used as a representative to investigate the effects of disturbance on endogenous P release using diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT) and high-resolution dialysis (HR-Peeper). The results show that soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) and iron (Fe (II)) concentrations could reach 0.51 mg L -1 and 33.56 mg L -1 in pore water, respectively. And the sediment DGT-P and DGT-Fe were relatively reduced by PSB. Subsequent the chlorophyll a (Chl a) concentrations reached peaks of 344.8 μg L -1 in overlying water. The abundance of the dominant PSB (Burkholderia-Caballeronia-Paraburkholderia) were significantly associated with Chl a (P < 0.05) and algal effective state phosphorus (AAP) (P < 0.05), respectively. PSB mainly regulates AAP leaching to pore water and then diffusing across the sediment-water interface to the overlying water, producing the effect of cyanobacteria recruitment. Toxicological studies have indicated that exposure to chlorinated paraffins (CPs) may disrupt intracellular glucose and energy metabolism. However, limited information exists regarding the impact of human CP exposure on glucose homeostasis and its potential association with an increased risk of developing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Here, we conducted a prospective study with a nested case-control design to evaluate the link between short- and medium-chain CP (SCCPs and MCCPs) exposures during pregnancy and the risk of GDM. Serum samples from 102 GDM-diagnosed pregnant women and 204 healthy controls were collected in Hangzhou, Eastern China. The median (interquartile range, IQR) concentration of SCCPs was 161 (127, 236) ng/mL in the GDM group compared to 127 (96.9, 176) ng/mL in the non-GDM group ( p < 0.01). For MCCPs, the GDM group had a median concentration of 144 (117, 174) ng/mL, while the control group was 114 (78.1, 162) ng/mL ( p < 0.01). Compared to the lowest quartile as the reference, the adjusted odds ratios (ORs) of GDM were 7.07 (95% CI: 2.87, 17.40) and 3.34 (95% CI: 1.48, 7.53) in the highest quartile of ∑SCCP and ∑MCCP levels, respectively, with MCCPs demonstrating an inverted U-shaped association with GDM. Weighted quantile sum regression evaluated the joint effects of all CPs on GDM and glucose homeostasis. Among all CP congeners, C 13 H 23 Cl 5 and C 10 H 16 Cl 6 were the crucial variables driving the positive association with the GDM risk. Our results demonstrated a significant positive association between CP concentration in maternal serum and GDM risk, and exposure to SCCPs and MCCPs may disturb maternal glucose homeostasis. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the health risks of CP exposure and the role of environmental contaminants in the pathogenesis of GDM.

Background: The integrated health management system (IHMS), which unites all health care-related institutions under a health-centered organizational framework, is of great significance to China in promoting the hierarchical treatment system and improving the new health care reform. China's IHMS policy consists of multiple policies at different levels and at different times; however, there is a lack of comprehensive interpretation and analysis of these policies, which is not conducive to the further development of the IHMS in China., Objective: This study aims to comprehensively analyze and understand the characteristics, development, and evolution of China's IHMS policy to inform the design and improvement of the system., Methods: We followed the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines to collect 152 policy documents. With the perspective of policy tools and policy orientation as the core, a comprehensive 6D framework including policy level, policy nature, release time, policy tools, stakeholders, and policy orientation was established by combining the content of policy texts. These dimensions were then analyzed using content analysis., Results: First, we found that, regarding the coordination of policy tools and stakeholders, China's IHMS policy was more inclined to use environment-based policy tools (1089/1929, 56.45%), which suggests a need for further balance in the internal structure of policy tools. Attention to different actors varied, and the participation of physicians and residents needs further improvement (65/2019, 3.22% and 11/2019, 0.54%, respectively). Second, in terms of level differences, Shanghai's IHMS policy used fewer demand-based policy tools (43/483, 8.9%), whereas the national IHMS policy and those of other provinces and cities used fewer supply-based tools (61/357, 17.1% and 248/357, 69.5%, respectively). The national IHMS strategy placed more emphasis on the construction of smart health care (including digital health; 10/275, 3.6%), whereas Shanghai was a leader in the development of healthy community and healthy China (9/158, 5.7% and 4/158, 2.5%, respectively). Third, in terms of time evolution, the various policy tools showed an increasing and then decreasing trend from 2014 to 2021, with relatively more use of environment-based policy tools and less use of demand-based policy tools in the last 3 years. The growth of China's IHMS policy can be divided into 3 stages: the disease-centered period (2014-2017), the e-health technology development period (2017-2019), and the health-centered period (2018-2021)., Conclusions: Policy makers should make several adjustments, such as coordinating policy tools and the uneven relationships among stakeholders; grasping key policy priorities in the context of local characteristics; and focusing on horizontal, multidimensional integration of health resources starting from the community. This study expands the objects of policy research and improves the framework for policy analysis. Endogenous phosphorus (P) release from lake sediments is an important factor in the eutrophication of overlying waters, as P is the limiting nutrient salt affecting cyanobacterial growth. Microorganisms are also key to the evolution of cyanobacterial growth and disappearance, as they can influence the release of endogenous P. Meanwhile, endogenous phosphorus can also have an impact on microbial structure. However, there is a lack of studies on the response mechanisms between endogenous P release and microorganisms, as well as the exploration of endogenous P release on the whole cyanobacterial growth and disappearance evolution process. In this study, metagenome sequencing was used to characterize the microbial community structure at different times and to explain the P cycle from the perspective of functional genes. The results showed that the number of sediment microorganisms (genes) gradually increased with the P release capacity, and the outbreak with the strongest P release capacity possessed the most abundant microorganisms (genes). Proteobacteria with P solubilizing functions were consistently the most abundant phylum in all four periods and were positively correlated with P release potential assessment factors EPC 0 , EPC 0F , and NAP. Functional genes affect the P cycle by acting primarily on inorganic P solubilization, organic P mineralization, and P transport. These P-functional genes are mainly found in Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Chloroflexi, and Actinobacteria microorganisms. In addition, the P form in the sediments was dominated by IP, with the highest concentration (704.86 mg/kg) occurring during the dormant period. Sediments from this period acted as a strong P "sink", creating a precondition for cyanobacterial recovery and outbreaks to provide a source of P. Nanoplastics (NPs) have been widely detected in soil-groundwater systems. However, to date, the effect of real groundwater on the fate and transport of NPs has been poorly understood. In this study, the transport and retention behaviors of both polystyrene and poly(lactic- co -glycolic acid) NPs (PS NPs and PLGA NPs) in different real groundwaters from three coastal cities in China were explored using column experiments. PS (0.51 and 1.1 μm) and PLGA (1 μm) NPs with a low concentration of 2 mg L -1 were employed. Close observation showed that the transport of PS NPs was much higher than PLGA NPs in different groundwaters, with an average breakthrough curve plateau ( C / C o ) of ∼0.81 for PS NPs and ∼0.19 for PLGA NPs, respectively. As observed for PLGA, the plastic shape- and size-induced straining may be the reason for the minimal transport. Interestingly, we found that although the physicochemical characteristics of different real groundwaters varied significantly, the transport of certain NPs in real groundwater was similar with negligible differences. Closer inspection indicated that similar pHs of different groundwaters may be the reason contributing to these findings. Further investigation revealed that the transport behaviors of PS and PLGA NPs in real groundwater did not follow the classical DLVO theory. These findings suggest that the fate and transport of NPs in real soil-groundwater systems are much more comprehensive than the prediction based on DLVO theory and need intensive investigation.

The widespread contamination of chlorinated paraffins (CPs) of the soil environment has raised global concern due to their highly persistent and toxic properties. However, little information is available regarding these industrial toxicants' spatial-vertical distribution and penetration potentials. In this study, short- and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs and MCCPs, respectively) were analyzed in pooled surface and core soils (0-45 cm) samples collected from agricultural and industrial areas in Shanghai. ∑SCCP concentrations in agricultural and industrial surface soils ranged from 52.6 to 237.6 and 98.3 to 977.1 ng/g dry weight (dw), respectively. ∑MCCP levels were comparatively higher and ranged from 417.2 to 1690.8 and 370.9 to 10,712.7 ng/g dw in agricultural and industrial soils, respectively. C 10 Cl 5-10 SCCPs and C 14-15 Cl 5-7 MCCPs were the predominant homologues in all samples. Analysis of the soil vertical profiles revealed that MCCP concentrations decreased significantly with depth (P < 0.01). SCCPs more efficiently penetrated into the soils than MCCPs because of their higher water solubility and less octanol-water partition coefficient (K ow ) values. A preliminary risk assessment suggested no potential health risks caused by non-dietary exposure. The daily exposure doses of CPs via ingestion were significantly (P < 0.01) higher for children (5.41 ± 2.11 × 10 -3 and 1.68 ± 1.03 × 10 -2  μg kg -1  day -1 ) and adults (2.56 ± 0.99 × 10 -4 and 7.94 ± 4.87 × 10 -4  μg kg -1  day -1 ) than dermal permeation exposure. Furthermore, CPs at current levels posed low ecological risks (0.1 ≤ RQ < 1) according to the risk quotient model. Introduction: The Chinese state has recently implemented the COVID-19 Vaccine Communication Campaign (CVCC) to counter vaccine hesitancy. Nonetheless, the extant literature that examines COVID-19 vaccine acceptance has less represented COVID-19 vaccine communication efforts., Methods: To address this lacuna, we qualitatively explored how CVCCs were organized in Chinese communities by investigating 54 Chinese stakeholders., Results: This study indicates that the CVCC was sustained by top-down political pressure. CVCCs' components involve ideological education among politically affiliated health workers, expanding health worker networks, training health workers, implementing media promotion, communicating with residents using persuasive and explanatory techniques, encouraging multistakeholder partnerships, and using public opinion-steered and coercive approaches. While CVCCs significantly enhanced COVID-19 vaccine acceptance, lacking open communication, stigmatizing vaccine refusers, insufficient stakeholder collaboration, and low trust in the COVID-19 vaccination program (CVP) eroded the validity of CVCCs., Discussion: To promote the continuity of CVCCs in China, CVCC performers are expected to conduct open and inclusive communication with residents. Furthermore, CVP planers should create robust partnerships among health workers by ensuring their agreements on strategies for implementing CVCCs and optimize COVID-19 immunization service provision to depoliticize CVPs. The arsenic (As) release from sediments in great lakes is affected by various factors. In this study, the characteristics of As release from sediments was investigated, and the As sources and sinks with the strengths in sediments from different areas (grass-type, algae-type, and grass-algae alternation areas) in great shallow lakes (Taihu Lake, China) were analyzed, and the influence of P competition in the process of As release was also studied. The results showed that changing trend of the values of equilibrium As concentration in sediments were consistent with the regional changes (0 to 28.12 µg/L), and the sediments from algae-type areas had the higher values. The sediments from western lake and northwest lake bay were a strong As and a weak P source, and the north lake bay had the opposite trend of these two regions. Intense P source competition with As from the sediments occurred in algae-type areas. The grass-type areas had strong As and P retention capacities, indicating a sink role of sediment with high As and P sorption capacities. The degree of As and P saturation had similar trend in sediments, and the grass-type areas had the higher values, 18.3%-21.4% and 15.31%-20.34%, respectively. Counterfeiting is a serious problem in many industries, and the annual profit and tax losses caused by counterfeit products in China have reached over 60 billion yuan. The focus of this paper is to study the effect of blockchain technology in terms of supervising counterfeit products as well as product quality and service decisions under blockchain from a dynamic optimization perspective. We consider the role of blockchain when disclosing product quality information and develop a dynamic optimization model before and after blockchain adoption using differential game theory. Meanwhile, we solve the model using the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation and backward induction and conduct parametric, comparative, and numerical analyses of the equilibrium solutions. The main findings are as follows: First, we find that in the absence of blockchain, counterfeit products can reduce brand goodwill and decrease the quality and service level of genuine products; however, supervising counterfeit product sales through blockchain can improve this problem under the critical conditions determined in this work. Second, in the direct sales mode, we find that if the unit operating cost and fixed cost of blockchain are small, the brand owner's adoption of blockchain can not only combat the counterfeiter's profit but also increase its own profit. Third, in the wholesale sales mode, we find that the best conditions in which a brand owner can establish blockchain are only related to the related costs of blockchain, while retailers also need to increase the selling price of genuine products when establishing blockchain. Fourth, we find that supply chain performance and blockchain supervisory effects are sensitive to key parameters through numerical analysis in a quantitative form. Based on the leadership-member exchange perspective, this study proposes that subordinates are more likely to express their voice in a leader-supported work environment, and this relationship is stronger when they have close social ties with their supervisor. In the case of subordinates supported by supervisors, public service motivation serves as a psychological mechanism to promote them to express voice behavior. This study also explains the boundary effect of the supervisor-subordinate's guanxi perspective in affecting supervisor support and subordinate's voice behavior. A longitudinal survey of 136 front-line public officers has been conducted to check this theoretical model in China, and their data verified the moderated-mediation model results. Background: In March 2022, the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 spread rapidly in Shanghai, China. The city adopted strict non-pharmacological intervention (NPI) measures, including lockdown (implemented on March 28 in Pudong and April 1 in Puxi) and blanket PCR testing (April 4). This study aims to understand the effect of these measures., Methods: We tabulated daily case counts from official reports and fitted a two-patch stochastic SEIR model to the data for the period of March 19 to April 21. This model considered two regions in Shanghai, namely Pudong and Puxi, as the implementation of control measures in Shanghai was carried out on different dates in these regions. We verified our fitting results using the data from April 22 to June 26. Finally, we applied the point estimate of parameter values to simulate our model while varying the dates of control measure implementation, and studied the effectiveness of the control measures., Results: Our point estimate for the parameter values yields expected case counts that agree well the data for both the periods from March 19 to April 21 and from April 22 to June 26. Lockdown did not significantly reduce the intra-region transmission rates. Only about 21% cases were reported. The underlying basic reproduction number R0 was 1.7, and the control reproduction number with both lockdown and blanket PCR testing was 1.3. If both measures were implemented on March 19, only about 5.9% infections would be prevented., Conclusions: Through our analysis, we found that NPI measures implemented in Shanghai were not sufficient to reduce the reproduction number to below unity. Thus, earlier intervention only has limited effect on reducing cases. Introduction: The construction of the Yangtze River Delta ecological green development demonstration area aims to take the lead in exploring an eco-friendly development model, demonstrating and leading the higher quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta in China., Methods: Through literature research, expert inquiries, and policy documents as the guidance, this study builds an ecological green high-quality development evaluation system for the demonstration area, including building an index system composed of 4 first-class indicators, 16 second-class indicators and 42 third-class indicators derived from economy, society and environment system, determining the index weight through the network analytic hierarchy process, and establishing the comprehensive evaluation index (CEI) and differential diagnosis index (DDI) of high-quality development, which is based on the relevant theory of statistical comprehensive index., Results: The establishment of this system provides a complete theoretical support and scientific guidance for the comprehensive evaluation of high-quality ecological green development and more balanced development of the demonstration area; and it can point out the development direction for the subsequent development of the Yangtze River Delta., Discussion: However, due to the availability of data, there is still room for further improvement in this paper. Traditional treatments for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), such as surgical resection, transplantation, radiofrequency ablation, and chemotherapy are unsatisfactory, and therefore the exploration of powerful therapeutic strategies is urgently needed. Immunotherapy has emerged as a promising strategy for advanced HCC treatment due to its minimal side effects and long-lasting therapeutic memory effects. Recent studies have demonstrated that icaritin could serve as an immunomodulator for effective immunotherapy of advanced HCC. Encouragingly, in 2022, icaritin soft capsules were approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China for the immunotherapy of advanced HCC. However, the therapeutic efficacy of icaritin in clinical practice is impaired by its poor bioavailability and unfavorable in vivo delivery efficiency. Recently, functionalized drug delivery systems including stimuli-responsive nanocarriers, cell membrane-coated nanocarriers, and living cell-nanocarrier systems have been designed to overcome the shortcomings of drugs, including the low bioavailability and limited delivery efficiency as well as side effects. Taken together, the development of icaritin-based nanomedicines is expected to further improve the immunotherapy of advanced HCC. Herein, we compared the different preparation methods for icaritin, interpreted the HCC immune microenvironment and the mechanisms underlying icaritin for treatment of advanced HCC, and discussed both the design of icaritin-based nanomedicines with high icaritin loading and the latest progress in icaritin-based nanomedicines for advanced HCC immunotherapy. This study explores the influence of the power of family business successors on firm innovation under the theory of social embeddedness. Based on the 2000-2019 unbalanced panel data of listed Chinese family enterprises, this study empirically examines the differences in the influence of the implicit and explicit power of successors on incremental and radical innovation respectively. Our findings show that explicit power has a more positive impact on incremental innovation, while implicit power is more conducive to promoting radical innovation. In addition, the study finds that the reason why the explicit power of succession does not have a significant impact on radical innovation, that is, the reason why board dissent is not related to radical innovation, is that some of the major innovation decisions in the enterprise are not all made at formal meetings. To assess the ecological risk of microplastics (MPs) occurring in the surface water of terrestrial water systems across China, this study obtained relevant literature and data by searching keywords including microplastics, urban, and river on websites such as Science Direct and Web of Science. We constructed an evaluation method of ecological risk characterization ratio (RCR) based on chemical hazard data, as well as data of MPs abundance and polymer proportion originating in studies from 2017 to 2021 that covered 33 water bodies in 15 provinces. The results showed that the average abundance of MPs in natural water bodies in China reached (3604.2±5926.4) n·m -3 , and the average abundance of MPs in urban water bodies was (7722.6±9505.7) n·m -3 . The corresponding average RCR of natural water bodies was 22.09±45.2, and the average RCR of urban water bodies was 15.67±34.8. Therefore, according to the value of RCR, the ecological risk could be rated as four levels. Of these, no significant risk (RCR ≤ 1) was found in 17 water bodies, accounting for 42.5%; low ecological risks (RCR 1-10) were found in 12 water bodies (30%); medium ecological risks (RCR 10-100) were found in 9 water bodies (22.5%); and high ecological risks (RCR>100) were found in 2 water bodies (5%). Data analysis showed a significant correlation between MPs abundance and RCR values in natural water bodies ( R 2 =0.875, P <0.01), though not in urban water bodies. This suggested that the high abundance of MPs could not precisely indicate a high degree of ecological risk in the area. In addition, RCR values were observed to be positively correlated with the watershed area ( R 2 =0.864, P <0.01), and MPs abundance was correlated with GDP ( R 2 =0.679, P <0.05) and watershed resident population ( R 2 =0.922, P <0.05). This study provides baseline data for evaluating the ecological risk of MPs and a feasible method for evaluating the ecological risk of MPs in surface water of terrestrial water systems.

The release of endogenous phosphorus from lacustrine sediment is a key element of freshwater eutrophication. The microbes in sediments may affect phosphorus migration and transformation during the growth of cyanobacteria, which may lead to the release of phosphorus from sediments and contribute to water eutrophication. To study phosphorus sorption and the microbial community structure in the overlying water and the vertical depth of sediments, samples in Meiliang Bay were collected during the dormancy and resuscitation phases of cyanobacteria. The results showed that there were high total phosphorus (TP) concentrations in the overlying water and sediment, with maximum values reached 0.24 mg L -1 and 1059 mg kg -1 , respectively. Fitting by modified Langmuir model indicated that the partitioning coefficients (K P ) was, from greatest to least: bottom sediment (maximum of 0.923 L g -1 ) > middle sediment (0.571 L g -1 ) > surface sediment (0.262 L g -1 ). During the cyanobacteria resuscitation stage, the relative abundance of Proteobacteria (18.37%-33.56%), Chloroflexi (9.57%-17.76%), Cyanobacteria (0.38%-2.62%), and the Nitrospirota phylum Thermodesulfovibrionia (4.61%-10.14%) were higher than the dormant period of cyanobacteria, and bacteria with phosphorus-solubilizing (27.27%-52.01%) accounted for the majority. The redundancy analysis (RDA) found that the structure of the microbial communities in sediments was significant correlation with organic phosphorus (OP) (P = 0.002) during recruitment period of cyanobacteria, which would accelerate the conversion of OP into soluble inorganic phosphorus and then gets released from sediment to water. The most predominant phylum among phosphorus-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) is Proteobacteria, followed by Actinobacteriota, which were positively correlated with equilibrium phosphorus concentration (EPC 0 ) (P < 0.05) during the cyanobacterial resuscitation phase. The quality of healthcare services is related to the quality of life of older people in their later years. A comprehensive evaluation of the healthcare needs of the elderly is the basic basis for providing targeted healthcare services for the elderly population. Taking the Yangtze River Delta region of China as an example, this article constructs an index system for evaluating the healthcare needs among the elderly, and explores the healthcare needs of the elderly and the influencing factors based on Dataset of the Fourth Sample Survey on the Living Conditions of China's Urban and Rural Older Persons. The study concludes that: Age 75 is the cut-off point for the healthcare needs of the elderly, with the growth of healthcare needs of the elderly aged 60-75 relatively flat and the growth of healthcare needs of the elderly aged 75 and above rising sharply. There is a wide variation in the Daily Activities Care Index, Incontinence Index and Aids Use Index scores and their indicators, as reflected in the differences in healthcare needs of older people in different age groups and in urban and rural areas. Healthcare needs of the elderly show a high positive correlation with the Daily Activities Care Index and Incontinence Index; healthcare needs of the elderly show a cubic function curve correlation with the assistive device use index. Community elderly healthcare services are conditions that influence the demand for elderly healthcare, but the low proportion of elderly people staying in elderly care institutions is due to a combination of low affordability, general quality of elderly care services and cultural factors. Educational attainment and marital status are micro-conditions that influence the demand for healthcare in old age. In terms of educational attainment, elderly people who have not attended school have an increasing need for healthcare as they get elderly. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are hypothesized to trigger gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) through modulation of glucose metabolism. However, studies investigating links between joint PFASs to GDM are limited and led to discrepant conclusions. This study included 171 women with GDM development in pregnancy and 169 healthy controls from Hangzhou, China between October 2020 and September 2021. By using the solid-phase extraction (SPE)-ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem-mass-spectrometry (UPLC/MS-MS), 15 PFASs were detected to be widely distributed in maternal serum, with highest median concentrations of 7.43, 4.23, and 3.64 ng/mL for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), and 6:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonates (6:2 Cl-PFESA). Multivariable logistic regressions suggested that the adjusted odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) of GDM for second and highest tertiles of PFOA were 2.57 (1.24, 4.86), p = 0.001 and 1.98 (1.06, 3.65), p = 0.023. Compared with the reference tertile, the ORs of GDM were also significantly increased at the highest tertile of perfluoroundecanoic acid (PFUnDA), perfluorododecanoic acid (PFDoA), PFOS and 6:2Cl-PFESA. Multiple linear regressions further indicated that exposure to these PFASs congeners were positively associated with continuous glycemic outcomes of fasting blood glucose (FBG), 1-h, and 2-h glucose after 75 g oral glucose tolerance (OGTT) test as well as glycohemoglobin (HbA1c). Nevertheless, perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), 4:2 fluorotelomer sulfonates (FTSs), and 3H-perfluoro-3-[(3-methoxy-propoxy) propanoic acid] (ADONA) exhibited protective effects on some of these glycemic outcomes. When assessing the PFASs as mixtures by conducting the Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR), the risks of GDM and values of glycemic outcomes increased significantly as the concentrations of the PFASs mixture increased, with PFOA being the largest contributor. A more scientific green economy efficiency indicator is constructed based on OH (2010), and a multiperiod spatial DID model is used to examine the impact of national credit demonstration policies on urban green economy efficiency in a sample of cities above the prefecture level in the Yangtze River Delta. The study confirms the following: (1) The national credit demonstration policy makes a significant contribution to the green economic efficiency of cities, and it is conducive to strengthening awareness of the rule of law in the market to regulate market order. (2) The demand for credit regulation in coastal areas has increased under the new development pattern, and the national credit demonstration policy has effectively enhanced green economy efficiency through institutional supply. (3) Under the national credit demonstration policy, the subprovincial level and above can mobilise more resources for policy refinement and support, reducing transaction costs and improving the efficiency of the green economy. (4) The impact of the national credit demonstration policy on the efficiency of Zhejiang's green economy is more obvious; but, under the overall framework of the Yangtze River Delta, the policy has a more prominent role in promoting green economy efficiency in other provinces. Policy insights are as follows: (1) Different cities have different degrees of impact on the efficiency of the green economy from the national credit demonstration policy, and they should implement differentiated measures based on regional heterogeneity; (2) regulating the use of administrative resources and avoiding undue administrative intervention are important prerequisites for promoting regional integration to enhance the efficiency of the green economy; and (3) strengthening interprovincial credit policy synergies can help to alleviate administrative distortions of policy implementation and enhance the efficiency of the regional green economy.

Health geography provides a relational approach to understanding elders' wellbeing experience in relation to place. That the migrating grandparents move between their home and their adult children's home to support their children's life in the migrating city provides a particular pattern to supplement the place-based wellbeing literature. How they negotiate their wellbeing remains to be observed in the daily home-making practices related to their two homes. This study conducted in-depth interviews with 35 migrating grandparents and nine of their adult children and conducted extensive field notes in Shanghai from 2020 to 2022. Through thematic analysis, it finds that the migrating grandparents met a series of differences, challenges and tensions in the material, social and emotional home-making practices brought by the separation and rotation between their own and their children's homes. It weakens their physical, social and mental wellbeing. However, they take some initiatives to overcome and relieve these tensions. Therefore, accompanied by sacrifices and negotiations, they also obtain sustained material, social and spiritual-emotional values to negotiate a suboptimal experience of wellbeing. This study contributes to the intersection of elderly wellbeing and home-making studies by revealing the complex and ongoing inter-relationships between migrating grandparents and home in the rotating lifestyle.

Microplastics (MPs) contamination in rivers and lakes is of paramount environmental importance as freshwater systems transport MPs from land to ocean. However, information regarding the spatio-vertical distributions of MPs in rivers, and their associations with surrounding industrial activities, is scarce and unclear. This study investigated MPs in the Taipu River, where there is a highly developed textile industry in Yangtze River Delta, China. Results showed a widespread occurrence of MPs particles with concentrations in the range of 0.65-6.07 items/L and 0.30-3.63 items/L in surface and bottom waters. A higher abundance of MPs was observed in surface waters than in bottom waters (t = 5.423, p = 0.024). The MPs distributions varied markedly in space, with the highest abundances being found in textile manufacturing zones as a consequence of industrial release (F = 14.642, p < 0.001). Transparent fibers were the major MPs compositions with 100-500 μm in size. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) accounted for 71.4% and 59.73% of the total MPs identified in surface and bottom water, respectively. These PET polymers were predominantly presented in "fibrous" shapes, further reflecting the point sources of textile wastewater. Moreover, polyvinyl acetate (PVAC), used as fabric coating and resin matrix to form nonwoven fabrics, was firstly highlighted at a watershed scale. Although risk assessments revealed a light to moderate risks of MPs in the Taipu River, textile wastewater appears to cause a high "grey water" footprint and increase the risks of MPs pollution from textile life-cycle production. Background: The application of big data resources and the development of medical collaborative networks (MCNs) boost each other. However, MCNs are often assumed to be exogenous. How big data resources affect the emergence, development, and evolution of endogenous MCNs has not been well explained., Objective: This study aimed to explore and understand the influence of the mechanism of a wide range of shared and private big data resources on the transaction efficiency of medical services to reveal the impact of big data resources on the emergence and development of endogenous MCNs., Methods: This study was conducted by administering a survey questionnaire to information technology staff and medical staff from 132 medical institutions in China. Data from information technology staff and medical staff were integrated. Structural equation modeling was used to test the direct impact of big data resources on transaction efficiency of medical services. For those big data resources that had no direct impact, we analyzed their indirect impact., Results: Sharing of diagnosis and treatment data (β=.222; P=.03) and sharing of medical research data (β=.289; P=.04) at the network level (as big data itself) positively directly affected the transaction efficiency of medical services. Network protection of the external link systems (β=.271; P=.008) at the level of medical institutions (as big data technology) positively directly affected the transaction efficiency of medical services. Encryption security of web-based data (as big data technology) at the level of medical institutions, medical service capacity available for external use, real-time data of diagnosis and treatment services (as big data itself) at the level of medical institutions, and policies and regulations at the network level indirectly affected the transaction efficiency through network protection of the external link systems at the level of medical institutions., Conclusions: This study found that big data technology, big data itself, and policy at the network and organizational levels interact with, and influence, each other to form the transaction efficiency of medical services. Objective: Diabetic complications have brought a tremendous burden for diabetic patients, but the problem of predicting diabetic complications is still unresolved. Our aim is to explore the relationship between hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c), insulin (INS), and glucose (GLU) and diabetic complications in combination with individual factors and to effectively predict multiple complications of diabetes., Methods: This was a real-world study. Data were collected from 40,913 participants with an average age of 48 years from the Department of Endocrinology of Ruijin Hospital in Shanghai. We proposed deep personal multitask prediction of diabetes complication with attentive interactions (DPMP-DC) to predict the five complication models of diabetes, including diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, diabetic foot disease, and diabetic cardiovascular disease., Results: Our model has an accuracy rate of 88.01% for diabetic retinopathy, 89.58% for diabetic nephropathy, 85.77% for diabetic neuropathy, 80.56% for diabetic foot disease, and 82.48% for diabetic cardiovascular disease. The multitasking accuracy of multiple complications is 84.67%, and the missed diagnosis rate is 9.07%., Conclusion: We put forward the method of interactive integration with individual factors of patients for the first time in diabetic complications, which reflect the differences between individuals. The overwinter period is the pre-stage of the algal bloom, and the endogenous phosphorus (P) in sediments is one of the main P sources of algal blooms during this period. Based on the investigation of the water quality and sediment pollutants during the overwinter period of cyanobacteria (recruitment period and dormancy period), this study analyzed the P release characteristics of sediments in the horizontal and vertical directions and clarified the P release risk of sediments and the change in microbial community structures. The results showed that the lake bay was moderately eutrophic in the two periods of the study area, and the water quality and sediment nitrogen and P pollution were more serious, and the chlorophyll a content (Chl-a) was still at a high level in the overwinter period. The pseudo-second order model and the modified Langmuir model could respectively describe the P kinetics and sorption isotherm behavior in the sediment. The theoretical maximum P sorption capacities ( Q max ) of sediments were bottom layer>middle layer>surface layer, and the highest value was 1.648 mg·g -1 with the highest P sorption rate constant of the pseudo second-order kinetic model of 6.292 g·(mg·min) -1 . Additionally, the P adsorption parameters ( Q max , NAP, and EPC 0 ) were mainly affected by the physical and chemical properties of the sediment itself and the nutritional level of the lake bay. The surface sediments from the dormancy period mainly played the role of P sinks, and the part of sediments from the recruitment period played the role of P sources, in which existed the risk of endogenous P release. The analysis of the microbial community structure in sediments indicated that the microbial diversity in the sediments during the dormancy period was higher than that during the recruitment period, and some microbial categories with phosphate-solubilizing function of relative abundance was high.

The policy 'hierarchical medical treatment system' promulgated by the State Council of China is an effective way to solve the problem of insufficient and unbalanced medical resources. In response, governments in different provinces explore a variety of different strategies to promote this policy, producing different results. To better strengthen the policy development, it is worthy to help policy-makers make decisions to elect the best one from different proposals. Thus, the aim of this paper is to develop a multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) framework to better assist government select the optimal proposal. This study proposes a MAGDM method based on a family of q-rung orthopair fuzzy interaction power point Hamy mean operators to solve the above problem. To this end, new multi-parametric distance measures based on point operators in the framework of q-rung orthopair fuzzy set are proposed. With the help of the point distance measures, new power point operators average operator is also proposed. The results show that the proposed MAGDM method in this paper outperforms some existing methods and provides promising results for policy-makers seeking to identify the optimal hierarchical diagnosis and treatment policy (HDTP) proposal. This paper empirically studies the relationship among inclusive finance, industrial structure upgrading and farmers' income, using the panel data of 28 provinces in China from 2006 to 2016.The research finds that inclusive finance can significantly promote the increase of farmers' income. Moreover, the Upgrading of Industry Structure (UIS) is the intermediary mechanism of inclusive finance to promote the increase of farmers' income, and this intermediary mechanism is heterogeneous among farmers with different income levels. Finally, the promotion effect of the UIS on farmers' income is affected by the threshold effect of inclusive finance. Compared with the development level of low inclusive finance, the promotion effect of the UIS on farmers' income is stronger under the development level of high inclusive finance. According to the results of empirical analysis, we suggest that the development strategy of inclusive finance should aim at the industrial development in rural areas, promote the organic connection between farmers and modern agricultural industry, and drive farmers to increase their income through the transformation and upgrading of rural industries., Competing Interests: The author has declared that there are no competing interests.

How environmental factors impact the release of pollutants from sediment is critical to ensure the safety of drinking water, especially when the seasons change. Here, we investigated the effect of water pH, temperature, and hydraulic disturbance on the release of heavy metals and nutrients from the sediment of drinking water reservoir. The results show that lower initial water pH promoted the Zn release, while low temperature enhanced the Mn flux after 15 days. Meanwhile, continuous disturbance caused more metals releasing from sediment than intermittent disturbance due to greater shear stress and turbulence effect. However, intermittent high-speed disturbance greatly altered the dynamic release of Zn from L-shaped curve to U-shape in water column. Moreover, lower water pH caused higher ammonium in water but lower nitrate since H + restrained the nitrification. Yet, higher temperature inhibited the release of ammonium from sediment, which might relate to the accelerated mineralization of organic nitrogen and elevated dissolved oxygen caused by the algae growth. Notably, hydraulic disturbance with various intensity and duration greatly influenced the fluxes of various species of nitrogen and soluble phosphate in water column, because the disturbance facilitated the nitrogen and phosphorus exchanges between sediment-water and water-air interfaces. PRACTITIONER POINTS: Lower water pH induced Zn release, while low temperature gradually enhanced Mn level. More metals were released from sediment under continuous disturbance than intermittent disturbance. Lower water pH caused higher ammonium nitrogen in water but lower nitrate nitrogen. Higher temperature inhibited the release of ammonium nitrogen from sediment. The metals used in textile wet processing are of significant concern for the environment and human health. However, our understanding of metals released by the Chinese textile industry and their potential risks to ecology is limited. This work quantified the concentrations of seven metals in 199 wastewater samples from 77 textile enterprises in the southeastern coastal area of China. In the water discharged after end-of-pipe treatment, the mean concentrations of Sb, Hg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cr, and As were 0.289, 0.009, 0.579, 0.277, 0.035, 0.016, and 0.013 mg/L, respectively. Alkali deweighting effluents, dyeing effluents, and influents into regulation tanks were observed to be "hotspots" for metal distributions. Among the seven target metals, only Sb was found to be significantly correlated with COD, NH 3 -N, TN, and TP. The results of one-way ANOVA suggested that the Sb mainly came from the processing of polyester fibers. Overall, the majority of discharged wastewater samples were at safe levels, according to six health indicators. Sb posed elevated risks in comparison to other elements, which necessitated further concern. The findings can help decision-makers prevent hazardous metal contamination in the textile and dyeing industry, and provide a basis for the further study of the mechanisms of metal migration in the environment., (© 2021. Microplastics (MPs) are ubiquitous contaminants of emerging concern that have gained great attention recently due to their widespread appearance in the environment and potential adverse effects on living biota. Lijiang in Guangxi in China is a world-famous place of tourist attraction and attracted thousands of visitors every year. However, little is known regarding occurrence and distribution of MPs in freshwater and wild fishes in the Lijiang River. In this study, we used stereoscopy and micro Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (μ-FTIR) methods to investigate the abundance, morphotype, size distribution, and polymer type of MPs in freshwater collected by plankton nets and bulk sampling by pumping and filtration. Results showed that abundance of MPs in freshwater with bulk sampling by pumping (67.5 ± 65.6 items/m 3 ) was significantly higher than those using plankton nets (0.67 ± 0.41 items/m 3 and 0.15 ± 0.15 items/m 3 for mesh sizes of 75 μm and 300 μm, respectively). An average abundance of MPs detected in wild fishes was 0.6 ± 0.6 items/individual, of which, a majority was found in the gastrointestinal tracts. Large-sized (>0.3 mm) and colored MPs in morphotypes of flakes and fibers dominated in both freshwater and wild fishes. Polypropylene-polyethylene copolymer and polyethylene were the top two abundant polymer types of MPs in freshwater, while polyethylene terephthalate dominated in wild fishes. Endogenous pollution from sediments is gradually becoming a critical pollution source of the drinking water reservoir. Odorants can be released from sediments into the overlying water which further deteriorate the water quality of the drinking water reservoir. In this work, we set the sediment-overlying water systems under various water pH (6.5, 8 and 9), temperature (4, 20 and 30 °C) during 30 days and intermittent or continuous hydraulic disturbances (at 100 r/min or 200 r/min) in 5 days, and investigated the dynamic release of odorants from the drinking water reservoir sediments via using headspace solid-phase microextraction (HSPME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The result shows that weakly alkaline environment slightly but not significantly increased the concentration of dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) in the overlying water. Furthermore, low temperature promoted the release of bis(2-chloroisopropyl) ether (BCIE) and geosmin to 108.36 and 18.98 ng/L, respectively, while high temperature facilitated the DMDS release to 20.33 ng/L. Notably, hydraulic disturbances drastically elevated the level of seven odorants released from the sediments. Specially, benzaldehyde exhibited highest concentration at 260.50 ng/L. The continuous disturbance greatly enhanced the release of benzaldehyde, DMDS, dimethyl trisulfide (DMTS), BCIE and 1,4-dichloro-benzene (1,4-DCB) from sediments with a positive disturbance speed-dependence. However, the intermittent disturbance promoted higher level of geosmin in the overlying water compared to the continuous disturbance. In present study, dyeing wastewater samples were collected from three typical dyeing wastewater treatment plants in Wujiang, Shengze and Shanghai, China. Physicochemical properties and biotoxicity indicators (luminescent bacteria acute toxicity and umu genotoxicity) were tested and the relationships among them were analyzed. The results revealed that two biotoxicity indicators varied significantly among different treatment units of three plants. After treatment by plant A, luminescent bacteria acute toxicity of dyeing wastewater reduced effectively, while umu genotoxicity increased significantly. Two biotoxicity indicators exhibited decrease and increase trends during the treatment processes of plant B and plant C, respectively. Correlation analysis indicated that there was little correlation among biotoxicity indicators and physicochemical properties, meanwhile two kinds of biotoxicity indicators were relatively independent. Therefore, it was recommended that comprehensive evaluation of dyeing wastewater toxicity needs the combination of various biotoxicity indicators, and the relationship among biotoxicity indicators and physicochemical properties of dyeing wastewater should be established individually. The results of this study would offer a general understanding and evaluation of biotoxicity during actual dyeing wastewater treatment processes and provide database for toxicity reduction and management of dyeing wastewater.

Contest between the international or national enterprises stimulates the formation of innovative or improved products or of well-organized processes. Nevertheless, reliance on carbon-based materials and energy emission sources has been highlighted as a primary problem of the 21st century. The current study examines the influence of carbon disclosure information (CDI), media reporting and financial influence on state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and non-state-owned enterprises (NSOEs) by using Shenzhen and Shanghai's heavy polluting listed industries' dataset from 2014 to 2019. By applying different data approaches, the estimated results demonstrate that the CDI level is significantly negative related to SOE compared to NSOE. The estimated results explain that media's positive reporting offsets the additional benefits to stakeholders. While media's negative reporting negatively influences a firm's competitive position, it mitigates the stock price and its social value. Our results suggest that external factors are encouraging for the financial values of stakeholders, along with those of enterprises.

The sediment acts as not only sink but also source of heavy metals in aquatic environment, which may cause the endogenous pollution in drinking water reservoirs. In this work, we collected the surface sediments from Qingcaosha Reservoir, the largest river-embedded reservoir in China, and investigated the spatial distribution, risk, and sources of heavy metals in four seasons. Significant spatial and seasonal heterogeneity could be found in the distribution of five heavy metals (Cr, Cu, Mn, Zn, and Ni) in the surface sediments. The highest concentrations of the five metals were detected in the sediments from the reservoir downstream, especially in summer and next spring. The geo-accumulation index (I geo ) and enrichment factor (EF) suggest that the sediment pollution caused by single metal was heavier in summer than in other seasons. Also, the Nemerow pollution index (PI N ) manifests that the synergetic pollution induced by five metals was most serious in summer, followed by next spring. However, the potential ecological risk index (PERI) indicates that none of these metals caused potential ecological risk in four seasons. Comprehensive analysis demonstrates that the sediment pollution gradually increased from autumn to winter and then to next spring. Principal component analysis shows that the main pollution source of five heavy metals may come from industrial wastewater and domestic sewage, which was almost independent of seasons. This work can provide data support for the subsequent seasonal optimization of drinking water quality and reservoir management.

Rivers have been a subject of great concern in recent years as they have been found to be the critical path for the transmission of microplastics from terrestrial land to the ocean. However, the pollution status of microplastics and their behavior in the surface waters and sediments of urban rivers located in different urban areas remain unclear. In this study, 16 samples of surface water and sediment from eight rivers in the central and suburban areas of Shanghai Megacity were obtained and analyzed. High-speed cameras and Fourier transform infrared spectrometers were used to identify the abundance, size, color, shape, type, and other characteristics of microplastics in these samples. The results showed that the average abundance of microplastics in the surface waters of urban rivers in Shanghai Megacity was (7.5±2.8) pieces·L -1 , while the corresponding average abundance in the sediment reached (1575.5±758.4)pieces·kg -1 (wet weight). The abundance of microplastics was found to increase with the decreasing particle diameter. Among which, microplastics with a size of less than 500 μm, as well as the fibrous shape, transparent color, and Polyester composition, have always dominated in the urban rivers in Shanghai megacity. Comparably, microplastics in the sediments were more diverse in their morphology features and polymer compositions. Microplastic pollution in the urban rivers in Shanghai megacity was severe in comparison to that in other urban rivers worldwide. Among various urban rivers, the distribution of microplastics with different morphology features and polymer compositions is greatly influenced by a number of factors including the source (e.g., mainly laundry wastewater, personal care products, and refuse plastic waste), hydrodynamic conditions, and the physical and chemical properties of plastics. Furthermore, the pollution behavior (i.e., source, transmission, and fate) of microplastics occurring in urban rivers is discussed, and the potential impacts of various environmental factors are explained.

High-density urban habitats provide a hotbed for the rapid spread of infectious diseases. School children densely aggregate in classrooms. So schools are high incidence area of infectious diseases. This paper aims at investigating the transmission of influenza-like-illness within households with a school child using a survey study of fourth grade elementary school students in Shanghai, China. We found that the pairwise transmission probability within a household is only 0.172, which implies that the average number of infections caused by a single infectious individual in a household in Shanghai is only 0.304. Thus, the majority of transmission must occur outside of a household for a disease to cause an outbreak.

Phosphorus (P) characteristics in eutrophic lakes change during algal growth. Furthermore, algae have a significant relationship with the microbial communities of lake sediments. This study addressed the influence of algal growth and soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) concentrations on P characteristics within the sediment-water-algal (SWA) system. Results indicated that the SWA system simulating a high algal bloom level (SWA-HAB) had a correspondingly high SRP concentration (258.9 μg L -1 ), and that algal growth promoted a high SRP concentration in the overlying water. The high SRP concentration in overlying water could support algal growth, resulting in a high chlorophyll a (Chl-a) concentration (285.23 mg L -1 ). During algal growth, the P release flux was high in sediments from the high-SRP SWA system, with the highest P release flux measured at 0.982 mg m -2 day -1 . Furthermore, microbial community abundance had a significant relationship with Chl-a concentrations in overlying water (p < 0.05) and increases with algae growth.

Harmful cyanobacterial blooms have caused serious threat to the sustainable development of freshwater ecosystems due to eutrophication, but there is no consensus on nutrients threshold for controlling cyanobacterial bloom. A Monod-based ratio-dependent model was originally developed to investigate the effects of the extracellular substrate-to-biomass (Chlorophyll a) ratio (S ex /X) on the growth kinetics of Cyanobacteria and to determine the concentration thresholds of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) in the form of S ex /X. The results indicated that biomass growth was completely suppressed at S ex /X ≤ 0.21 μg μg -1 for P and S ex /X ≤ 2.82 μg μg -1 for N, which are far lower than the values of most of the eutrophic freshwater lakes. This indicates that in addition to curbing N and P nutrients of eutrophic water, to conduct some biologically mediated changes and to find a suitable environmental fate or a suitable position for excessive N and P nutrients is also of great significance in controlling HABs., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier B.V. Acid mine discharge (AMD) has been demonstrated to have significant impacts on microbial community composition in the surrounding soil environment. However, their effect on adjacent soil has not been extensively studied. In this study, microbial community composition of 20 AMD-contaminated soil samples collected from an abandoned coal mine along an AMD creek was characterized using high-throughput sequencing. All samples were characterized as extremely low in pH (< 3) and relatively enriched in HCl-extractable Fe species. The dominant phylotypes were belonging to genera Ochrobactrum, Acidiphilium, Staphylococcus, Brevibacterium, and Corynebacterium. Canonical correspondence analysis results revealed that the HCl-extractable Fe(III) had a strong impact on the soil microbial assemblage. Co-occurrence network analysis revealed that Aquicella, Acidobacteriaceae, Ochrobactrum, Enhydrobacter, Sphingomonas, and Legionellales were actively correlated with other taxa. As expected, most of the abundant taxa have been reported as acidophilic Fe-metabolizing bacteria. Hence, a co-occurring sub-network and a phylogenetic tree related to microbial taxa responsible for Fe metabolism were constructed and described. The biotic interaction showed that Dechloromonas exhibited densely connections with Fe(III)-reducing bacteria of Comamonas, Burkholderia, Shewanella, Stenotrophomonas, Acidithiobacillus, and Pseudomonas. These results demonstrated that Fe-metabolizing bacteria could have an important role in the Fe biogeochemical cycling.

To investigate the narrative development of Chinese-speaking children aged 3-6 years, 80 children were prompted to tell personal stories. High point analysis was used and both narrative components and overall narrative patterns were analyzed. In terms of narrative components, Chinese children were more skillful in using complicating action, orientation and evaluation than they were in resolution, direct and reported speech. With age, their narratives were longer and richer in content. No gender differences were found in any of the seven narrative components. For narrative patterns, the most frequent was the two-event pattern at age 3 and the chronological pattern from age 4 to age 6. However, the chronological pattern at age 5 and 6 differed from the chronological pattern at age 4. The proportion of leap-frog, two-event and one-event patterns decreased with age, but most Chinese children at age 6 have yet to develop the ability to tell a classic narrative that includes resolution. These findings provided evidence for a developmental pattern of the narrative development in preschool Chinese children and suggested more attention should be paid to improve children's ability to resolve a story, telling listeners how everything worked out in the end.

Haze is a typical type of air pollution and frequently has occurred in the winter in Guilin city recently, but information relating to chemical compositions and airborne bacterial community structure of atmospheric particulate matter (PM 2.5 ) during haze days remains very limited. In this study, the PM 2.5 concentration, chemical components including water-soluble ions and metal elements, and bacterial community compositions of PM 2.5 on both haze and non-haze days were characterized, and the relationships between them were studied. The results showed that levels of the secondary aerosol particles of SO 4 2- , NO 3 - , and NH 4 + in haze PM 2.5 associated with local fuel combustion and vehicle emissions were significantly higher than non-haze samples. Similar trends were observed for the detected trace metal elements. High-throughput sequencing results indicated that higher PM 2.5 concentration caused lower bacterial richness and diversity. However, the airborne bacterial community structure remained stable, and no significant difference was found between haze and non-haze PM 2.5 . Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, and Bacteroidetes were the most abundant phyla accounting for a total of 97.2% on average. In contrast to non-haze PM 2.5 , the bacterial community structure of haze PM 2.5 was mostly positively correlated with SO 4 2- , NO 3 - , NH 4 + , K + , and Cl - , suggesting these secondary aerosol particles were probably of great importance on haze pollution and variability of the bacterial compositions of PM 2.5 ., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier B.V. It has become a hot issue to study extreme climate change and its impacts on water quality. In this context, this study explored the evolution characteristics of drought⁻flood abrupt alternation (DFAA) and its impacts on total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorous (TP) pollution, from 2020 to 2050, in the Luanhe river basin (LRB), based on the predicted meteorological data of the representative concentration pathways (RCPs) climate scenarios and simulated surface water quality data of the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model. The results show that DFAA occurred more frequently in summer, with an increasing trend from northwest to southeast of the LRB, basically concentrated in the downstream plain area, and the irrigation area. Meanwhile, most of the DFAA events were in light level. The incidence of TN pollution was much larger than the incidence of TP pollution and simultaneous occurrence of TN and TP pollution. The TN pollution was more serious than TP pollution in the basin. When DFAA occurred, TN pollution almost occurred simultaneously. Also, when TP pollution occurred, the TN pollution occurred simultaneously. These results could provide some references for the effects and adaptation-strategies study of extreme climate change and its influence on surface water quality.

With regional socio-economic development and increasing population, the structure and function of terrestrial ecosystem environments on the earth's surface have changed markedly. Ecological shelter zone reconstruction ( ESZR ) is an ecosystem restoration and conservation project, which aims to ensure the safety of the ecological environments of-regions and basins. We selected the upper reaches of the Yangtze River (from Yibin to Chongqing) as the study area and determined the connotation of ESZR . At the same time, the planning scope and construction content of the ecological barrier in this specific region have been preliminarily explored. Meanwhile, a set of related planning methods was proposed, the ecological effects of which were quantitatively assessed and confirmed through the calculation of ESV s. Compared with the conditions in 2005, the study showed that the value of the services of the whole ecosystem augmented significantly under the slope classification, increasing by 103.23%. At the same time, the land use pattern has been optimized, and the vegetation coverage has been enhanced. The ESZR can effectively improve the ecosystem service function of slope land (mainly slope > 25°) and the regional ecological environment, solve the rocky desertification of the study area and provide an effective decision in relation to supporting regional green sustainable development.

It is of great significance to study the effects and mechanisms of the key driving forces of surface water quality deterioration-climate change and LUCC (land use and land cover change). The Luanhe River Basin (LRB) in north-eastern China was examined for qualitatively and quantitatively assessing the responses of total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) loads on different climate scenarios and LUCC scenarios. The results show that from 1963 to 2017, the TN and TP loads basically presented a negative correlation with the temperature change (except for winter), while showing a significant positive correlation with the precipitation change. The incidence of TN pollution is sensitive to temperature increase. From 2020 to 2050, the annual average loads of TN and TP were slightly lower than from 1963 to 2017. The contribution of rising temperature was more significant on nutrient loads. Also, the incidence of TN pollution is sensitive to the future climate change. Under LUCC scenarios, the TN and TP loads and pollution incidence increased correspondingly with the decrease of natural land. The evolution characteristics analysis can provide support for the effect and adaptation-strategies study of climate change and LUCC on surface water quality.

Currently, many industrial dyes are discharged into the environment in China, leading to serious water pollution. However, synthetic organic dyes in industrial effluents cannot be degraded by conventional wastewater treatment methods. Consequently, it is necessary to develop new environmentally friendly technologies to completely mineralize these non-biodegradable compounds. In this study, 300 mg/L typical Color Index (CI) Direct Blue 15 (benzidine disazo) in simulated dye wastewater was degraded by iron-carbon micro-electrolysis coupled with H₂O₂ to explore its decolorization, total organic carbon (TOC) removal rate, and degradation characteristics. Under the optimal degradation conditions (Fe/C = 2:1, pH = 3, 60-min reaction, 2 mL/L H₂O₂ (added in three aliquots), 300 mg/L dye), the TOC removal rate and the level of dye decolorization attained 40% and 98%, respectively. In addition, the degradation kinetics indicated that the iron-carbon micro-electrolysis process coupled with H₂O₂ followed first-order reaction kinetics. A degradation pathway for CI Direct Blue 15 was proposed based on the analysis results of treated wastewater obtained using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and gas chromatography⁻mass spectrometry (GC-MS). This study provides an efficient and economical system for the degradation of non-biodegradable pollutants.
