Background: Whether knowledge, attitude and practice of nurses on nursing post-stroke dysphagia patients varies between different ranking hospitals is still unknown. This study aimed to compare the knowledge, attitude and practice level of nurses on nursing post-stroke dysphagia patients between iii-A and ii-A hospitals in China. Design: A cross-sectional study design was used. Methods: Data were collected from eighteen hospitals in Wuhan, Hubei in May–July 2020, and a total of 824 nurses were recruited by convenient sampling. After propensity score matching, 205 participants in iii-A hospitals were matched with 205 participants in ii-A hospitals. Results: There were no statistically differences in the socio-demographic characteristics between two groups after propensity score matching. Before matching, the regression coefficients between hospital ranking and knowledge, attitude, practice were -0.415, -0.718 and -1.855, respectively. After matching, the coefficients changed to -0.394, -0.824 and -1.278. Nurses from iii-A hospitals had higher knowledge and attitude scores than nurses from ii-A hospitals, but no significant practice scores difference was observed between various rankings of hospitals. Conclusions: The KAP of nurses on nursing post-stroke dysphagia patients were different in iii-A and ii-A hospitals. Administrators should strengthen management, provide more learning resources and trainings to meet nurses' needs about methods to deal with and recognize dysphagia, so as to further improve the quality of post-stroke dysphagia management. The present study incorporated a moderated mediation model to explore the role of attitude towards condom use in mediating the link between sexual sensation seeking (SSS) and condom use and whether this indirect link was modified by HIV-related knowledge among Chinese YMSM. Survey data were collected from a cross-sectional study conducted in Wuhan, China and 373 YMSM were recruited. The mediation and moderated mediation modelling analyses were performed with the software SPSS PROCESS macro. Mediation analysis indicated that attitude towards condom use partly mediated the link between SSS and condom use (indict effect = −0.158, P < 0.001). Moderation analysis found HIV-related knowledge acted as a moderator in the relationship between SSS and attitude towards condom use (interact effect = 0.089, P = 0.001). Final moderated mediation analysis demonstrated that the indirect effect from SSS to condom use through attitude towards condom use was moderated by HIV-related knowledge, that is the interaction between HIV-related knowledge and SSS was positively associated with attitude towards condom use (β = 0.101, P < 0.001). Therefore, increased YMSM-specific HIV-related knowledge education programs need to be conducted. Further longitudinal research is required to verify the findings of this study. Whether exposure to air pollution is associated with the increased incidence of childhood eczema is controversial. Only a few previous researches about the relationship between gestational and early-life exposures to ambient air pollutants and childhood eczema were conducted in China, and there is a lack of studies in Hubei province. This study aimed to explore the associations between air pollution exposure in gestation and the first year of life and childhood eczema. From November to December 2017, a total of 3383 children aged 3–6 years were recruited from 12 kindergartens in Hubei, China; 3167 were included in the final analysis. Parent-reported data involved with childhood eczema was inquired by questionnaire, and the concentrations of NO2, PM2.5, and PM10 were acquired from air quality monitoring stations which were the nearest to the twelve kindergartens. A binary logistic regression model was used to evaluate the associations of period-mean concentrations of individual pollutant exposure with childhood eczema. Of the 3167 children, 848 (26.8%) had a history of doctor-diagnosed eczema. After adjusting for the covariates, high levels of NO2, PM2.5, and PM10 exposures were significantly associated with a positive increase in risk of childhood eczema during the gestational period and the first year of life. In the gestational period, the estimate OR in the 3rd and 4th quartiles of NO2 was 1.256 and 1.496, respectively. During the first year of life, the estimate OR in the 3rd and 4th quartiles of NO2 was 1.371 and 1.335, respectively. Our study indicated that the gestational period and the first year of life exposures to high levels of ambient NO2, PM2.5, and PM10 were significantly associated with increased eczema among preschool children. The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship of doctors' job satisfaction with doctor-patient relationship and work-family conflict in China. The data came from a cross-sectional survey in Hubei province, which was part of China's Fifth National Health Services Survey conducted in 2013. The survey in Hubei covered 54 secondary and tertiary general hospitals distributed in 20 counties. Of the 1080 questionnaires, 908 were included into our analysis. After surviving from reliability and validity tests, structural equation modeling was applied for further analysis with SPSS 20.0 and Mplus 7.0. The results showed that the average score of job satisfaction is 19.61 out of 30 points, indicating a relatively low level of doctors' job satisfaction in Hubei province. Work-family conflict was found to have negative impact on doctors' job satisfaction, and good doctor-patient relationship was found to have positive impact on their job satisfaction. Therefore, hospital administrators and policy makers should make effort to design and implement strategies that focus on meliorating doctor-patient relationship and balancing doctors' work and family life to further improve their job satisfaction.

Background: Stroke is the second most common cause of death and major cause of disability worldwide. The SNP 83 in PDE4D gene has been suggested as a risk factor in ischemic stroke, but direct evidence from genetic association studies remains inconclusive even in Chinese population., Methods: Meta-analysis of case-control studies on the relationship between SNP 83 in PDE4D gene and susceptibility to ischemic stroke in Chinese population published domestically and abroad from January 2003 to September 2012., Results: 9 case-control studies were selected. Meta-analysis results showed that the significant association between SNP 83 and ischemic stroke was found under the dominant model (OR = 1.34, 95% CI: 1.20-1.49) and recessive model (OR = 1.45, 95% CI: 1.19-1.76) in Chinese population. In subgroup meta-analysis, SNP 83 and atherothrombotic stroke, rather than lacunar stroke, showed the significant association under the dominant model (OR = 1.69, 95% CI: 1.41-2.01) and recessive model (OR = 1.47, 95% CI: 1.04-2.06)., Conclusions: The results suggest that SNP 83 in PDE4D gene is significantly associated with susceptibility to ischemic stroke in Chinese population.

Adiponectin is inversely associated with the risk of ischemic stroke through its anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic effects. Genetic variations in the adiponectin gene (ADIPOQ) have been shown to be associated with the risk of ischemic stroke in Caucasians and Japanese populations. However, it was unknown whether variations in the ADIPOQ gene were associated with the risk of ischemic stroke in Chinese population. A case-control study was performed among 302 patients with ischemic stroke and 338 unrelated controls in a Chinese Han population. The single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs266729 (-11377C/G), rs2241766 (+45T/G), rs1501299 (+276G/T) in the ADIPOQ gene were genotyped by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. The frequencies of GG genotype and G allele of rs266729 in the patients with ischemic stroke were significantly higher than those in the controls (P = 0.034, P = 0.010, respectively). In univariate logistic analysis, compared with CC genotype, GG genotype of rs266729 increased the risk of ischemic stroke (odds ratio (OR) = 2.062, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.145-3.715, P = 0.016). After adjustment for potential risk factors by the multivariate logistic analysis, rs266729 remained positive correlation with ischemic stroke (OR = 2.165; 95% CI = 1.116-4.197, P = 0.022). However, no significant association was observed among rs2241766, rs1501299 and ischemic stroke. In addition, no significant difference was found in haplotype frequencies between the patients with ischemic stroke and control subjects. The present study demonstrated that the promoter polymorphism rs266729 of the ADIPOQ gene was associated with an increased risk of ischemic stroke in the Chinese Han population.

Background: CYP4F2 is a member of the cytochrome P450 enzymes and is responsible for metabolizing arachidonic acid to 20-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (20-HETE); 20-HETE plays a role in the regulation of vascular tone in the cerebral, coronary, and renal circulation. The present study aimed to evaluate whether or not the CYP4F2 gene polymorphism V433M (rs2108622) is involved in ischemic stroke in the Northern Chinese Han population., Methods: In a case-control study, the participants included 302 (193 males and 109 females) patients with ischemic stroke and 350 (212 males and 138 females) healthy subjects. The V433M polymorphism of the CYP4F2 gene was analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) with the restriction enzyme PvuII., Results: The frequencies of the GG genotype and the G allele were higher in participants with ischemic stroke than in the control group (P=0.018). Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed the significance of the rs2108622 in males after adjustment for confounding factors. Background: The single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the phosphodiesterase 4D (PDE4D) and interleukin-1 (IL-1) genes are associated with increased risk for the development of ischemic stroke (IS) in whites. However, little is known about whether this association could also occur in Han Chinese., Method: A total of 371 patients with IS and unrelated healthy controls were recruited and the SNPs of the PDE4D (83T/C), (87T/C), IL-1 (-889C/T) and IL-1 (-511C/T) were characterized, respectively, by polymerase chain reactions-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The genotype and allele frequencies of these SNPs in this population were statistically analyzed., Results: The genotype and allele frequencies of the PDE4D (87T/C) and IL-1 (-511C/T) were similar between IS patients and controls. In contrast, the frequencies of CC genotype and C allele of the PDE4D (83T/C) and the T allele frequency of IL-1 (-889C/T) in IS patients were significantly higher than that in healthy controls (p=0.001, p=0.003 and p=0.02, respectively), independent of the conventional risk factors. The values of odds ratio (OR) reached at OR=1.603; 95%CI=1.032-2.489; p=0.036 for the CC genotype of the PDE4D (83T/C) and OR=1.913; 95%CI=1.621-2.375; p=0.034 for the TT genotype of the IL-1 (-889C/T), respectively., Conclusions: the SNPs of the PDE4D (83T/C) and IL-1 (-889C/T) were associated with increased risk for the development of IS in Northern Han Chinese.
