Visual political communication in the social media sphere is increasingly valuable for its ability to more effectively persuade viewers in this increasingly cluttered media landscape. Using multi-model discourse analysis and following the theoretical framework of Everyday Politics, this study focuses on a random sample (N = 200) of user-generated Internet memes from Chinese national youth propaganda campaign Youth Study. In addition, the author observed the sharing and dissemination of these memes in online public discussions. The findings reveal that young participants maintain a varying distance from politics. They employ strategies such as dark humor, hyperbole, contrast, and appropriation of pop culture to portray two key roles – the charming, brilliant followers and the abandoned, hunted breakers, and to construct four main scenarios-cute threat, humble beg, funny politics, and veiled resistance. This politicized propaganda campaign is being transformed from state aspirations to the creative daily cultural consumption of young netizens. Aims: To investigate the exposure–response (E‐R) relationship, including exposure–efficacy and exposure–safety, of ropeginterferon alfa‐2b treatment in patients with polycythaemia vera (PV). Methods: Based on the results of the phase II trial A20‐202 regarding ropeginterferon alfa‐2b in patients with PV, E‐R analyses were performed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the given dosing regimen. The E‐R analyses were based on logistic and linear regression and the relationship between exposure to ropeginterferon alfa‐2b and key efficacy and safety variables. The key efficacy variables included complete haematologic response (CHR) and reduction of the driver mutation JAK2V617F. The safety variable was treatment‐related adverse events (TRAEs). Results: A clear relationship between the exposure to ropeginterferon alfa‐2b and CHR was observed, with an increase in drug exposure resulting in an increased probability of achieving CHR. Similar CHR probabilities were observed in the third and fourth quantiles of the average concentration at Week 24. The results from the exposure–JAK2V617F model indicated that the JAK2V617F allele burden decreased with increasing exposure to ropeginterferon alfa‐2b and baseline body surface area. Exposure–safety analysis revealed a risk of AEs associated with transaminase abnormalities, which were not associated with clinical significance. Conclusions: Our analyses have shown that patients with PV treated with ropeginterferon alfa‐2b had an increased probability of achieving CHR and a molecular response with acceptable safety risks at the 250–350–500 μg titration dosing regimen. Plastic film mulching, widely used in agriculture, leads to microplastic (MP) pollution in soils. While biodegradable polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT) films may offer a solution, their impacts on subsurface soils and microorganisms remain unclear. To investigate the effects of conventional non-biodegradable polyethylene (PE) and biodegradable PBAT MPs on the properties of sub-surface soils and microbial communities, MPs were added at varying doses in a field experiment and incubated for 160 days. Physicochemical characteristics, nutrient dynamics, and microbial composition, diversity, and networks of soils were analyzed using standard techniques and 16S rRNA/ITS gene sequencing. Correlations between soil properties and microbes were assessed. Both MP types significantly altered soil characteristics, with PBAT-MP elevating pH and the levels of available phosphorus and potassium more than PE-MP. Microbial composition shifts occurred, with low-addition PBAT-MP promoting plastic-degrading genera. The assessment of α/β-diversity indicated that PBAT-MP predominantly influenced fungi while PE-MP impacted bacteria. An examination of microbial co-occurrence networks highlighted that PE-MP primarily disrupted fungal interactions, whereas PBAT-MP streamlined network complexity. Correlation analyses revealed that PBAT-MP promoted fungal diversity/network resilience correlating to nutrients. PE-MP and PBAT-MP significantly altered native soil/microbe relationships. PBAT-MP may exert greater, yet unknown, impacts over time through its biodegradation into newer and smaller fragments. Future research needs to integrate multi-omics and stable isotope science to elucidate the deep mechanistic impacts of degraded film-derived MPs on microbial ecological functions and biogeochemical cycles. Attention should also be paid to the long-term accumulation/transport of MPs in agricultural soils. Overall, this work deepens the impact and understanding of MPs from plastic film on sub-surface soil ecology. On May 21, 2021, at 21:48 local time, an earthquake with a moment magnitude of 6.1 occurred in Yangbi County, Yunnan Province, China. By using the robust strong ground motion data released by the Yunnan Earthquake Agency, we selected five near-field stations (R < 100 km) and determined model parameters, such as the duration, spectral attenuation, stress drop, and site amplification factors of the 2021 Mw 6.1 Yangbi earthquake in China. These model parameters required for the simulation were fed into a stochastic finite-fault model of the corner frequency associated with a dislocation. The modified stochastic finite-fault method was applied to simulate the acceleration recordings of these five near-fault stations, and the acceleration response spectra and Fourier acceleration spectrum were obtained. Comparative observation results reveal that the key input parameters extracted from a few stations and the revised approach established in the current study can adequately predict the near-fault ground motion at high frequencies of the Yangbi earthquake and can demonstrate the contribution of areas with large slips to radiated energy. To explore the feasibility, safety and cost effectiveness of the use of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) in children with hemophilia A and inhibitors who underwent ITI treatment. This retrospective cohort study evaluated the effect of PICC placement and ITI on bleeding rates, costs, and parents' satisfaction before and within 6 months after PICC placement in children with hemophilia A and inhibitors. A total of 20 children with hemophilia A and high-titer inhibitors were included, with a success rate for PICC placement of 100%, at a cost of ¥6730.50. Parents' satisfaction with PICC was 100%, and the total length of catheter indwelling was 6055 days. In terms of curative effect, the success rate of ITI treatment was 75%, and the annualized bleeding rate was decreased from 10.90 ± 12.16 times before placement to 2.10 ± 3.32 times (p < 0.05). The transportation expense for children and their parents to the clinic decreased from ¥20,920 ± 32,274.57 before catheter placement to ¥2915 ± 2195.99 (p < 0.05). Time of children missed school and their parents missed work decreased from 10.85 ± 22.36 days to 1.90 ± 3.58 (p < 0.05) days and 40.33 ± 46.11 days to 3.83 ± 7.11 days (p < 0.05), respectively. The use of PICC for ITI treatment in children with hemophilia A and accompanying inhibitors in developing countries (e.g. China) can ensure the effect of ITI, reducing expense and improving the quality of life without obvious side effects. At 12:52 (local time, UTC + 08:00) on September 5, 2022, an earthquake of magnitude 6.6 occurred in Luding of the Sichuan Province (southwest China). Combined with the empirical relationship between magnitude and global–local source parameters, the hybrid source model of the Luding earthquake was applied. In a simulation, the source model was mainly described by global source parameters and local source parameters. Based on the empirical relationship between global source parameters and magnitude, we obtained the mean values of global source parameters. In combination with the standard deviation given by the empirical formula, the source parameters satisfying the mean value and standard deviation were generated based on the modified truncated normal distribution function. The observation points were selected considering the various geological conditions and orientations, and then, they were generated based on the acceleration waveforms of the selected observation points using the finite-fault approach through the dynamic corner frequency. Next, their values were used to calculate the acceleration response spectra of these target points. Then, the source model corresponding to the 5% damped pseudospectral acceleration (PSA) with the minimum residual of the average response spectra was selected and is finally set as the optimal source model for the Luding earthquake in China. Finally, the slip distributions of two models were compared, the response spectra were obtained, and the impacts of the two source models on the simulation results were investigated. The results verified the reliability of the source model estimated in this study and showed that the influence of the source model on the simulation results is mainly present in the short period. Background: This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of geptanolimab (GB226), a fully humanized, recombinant anti-programmed cell death-1 monoclonal antibody, in Chinese patients with refractory or relapsed (r/r) primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL). Methods: This was a multicenter, open-label, single-arm phase II study (Gxplore-003), conducted at 43 hospitals in China (NCT03639181). Patients received geptanolimab intravenously at a dose of 3 mg/kg every 2 weeks until documented confirmed disease progression, intolerable toxicity, or any other cessation criteria was met. The primary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR) in the full analysis set assessed by the independent review committee (IRC) according to the Lugano Classification 2014. Results: This study was prematurely terminated due to the slow rate of patient accrual. Between Oct 15th, 2018 and Oct 7th, 2020, 25 patients were enrolled and treated. By the data cutoff date on Dec 23rd, 2020, the IRC-assessed ORR was 68.0% (17/25; 95% confidence interval [CI] 46.5–85.1%), with the complete response rate of 24%. The disease control rate was 88% (22/25; 95%CI 68.8–97.5%). Median duration of response was not reached (NR) (95%CI, 5.62 months to NR), with 79.5% of patients having response durations of more than 12 months. Median progression-free survival was NR (95%CI, 6.83 months to NR). Treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) were reported in 20 of 25 (80.0%) patients, and grade 3 or higher TRAEs occurred in 11 of 25 (44%) patients. No treatment-related deaths occurred. The immune-related adverse events (irAEs) of any grade were observed in 6 (24.0%) patients, and no grade 4 or grade 5 irAEs were reported. On September 5, 2022 (local time), a magnitude 6.6 earthquake was reported to have occurred in Luding County, Sichuan Province, Southwest China. In this simulation, a widely used stochastic finite-fault model was used to analyze how the source models affect the near-fault earthquake ground motion simulations of the 2022 Mw 6.6 Luding earthquake in China. Seven different slip models, one of them obtained from common fault parameters and random distributed slip amount, were used to yield the best match with the recordings. The simulated earthquake ground motions calculated in the frequency band of 0.05–20 Hz were compared with the observed values in both the time and frequency domains. Twelve acceleration observation stations located near the fault plane were selected in our simulation for comparison. The average H/V curves were estimated using the available acceleration records to consider the local site effect at each selected station. The research results indicate that none of the source models adopted in this study fully estimate the observed values at all the selected ground-motion stations. The simulated values of some slip models underestimate the level of the Fourier amplitude spectrum at frequencies above 6 Hz. The underestimation may be attributed to the directivity effect, which may produce a higher amplitude of observed ground motion in the high-frequency band. All the slip models show similar average model deviations except for the random slip model. Finally, the peak ground accelerations and peak ground velocities were predicted at these selected near-fault observation stations. The results indicate that the peak accelerations and velocities obtained from seven slip models correlate well with each other, but are slightly lower than the recorded values at most stations. The finite fault stochastic method is one of the most effective approaches widely used in seismic engineering to simulate near-field high-frequency ground motion (Motazedian and Atkinson in Bull Seismol Soc Am 95(3):995–1010, 2005; Boore in Bull Seismol Soc Am 99(6):3202–3216, 2009). However, the widely used static and dynamic corner frequencies are derived based on the ratio of rupture velocity to shear-wave velocity of 0.69 (Brune in J Geophys Res 75(26):4997–5009, 1970, J Geophys Res 76(20):5002–5002, 1971; Wang in Research on stochastic simulation method for high frequency of ground motions, Institute of Engineering Mechanics, China Earthquake Administration, Harbin, 2017), which obviously eliminates the influence of rupture velocity on corner frequency. In the currently distributed stochastic simulation program, the ratio of rupture velocity to shear-wave velocity is often set to 0.8 and is adopted as one of the important input parameters, which is obviously inconsistent with the assumption when deriving the corner frequency. In order to ensure that the input parameter values are consistent with the basic assumptions used in deriving the parameters, this study redefines the corner frequency associated with the rupture velocity, based on the displacement representation theory providing additional theoretical significance to the corner frequency. Also, the influence of rupture velocity on source rise time is investigated, and the improved corner frequency is verified by the Mw 6.6 Lushan earthquake occurred on April 20, 2013 (local time) in China. The comparison of the static and dynamic corner frequencies indicates that the simulated PGA and PSA obtained by the improved corner frequency are consistent with the observed values. The stochastic finite-fault technique based on dynamic corner frequency (EXSIM) is the most commonly used approach for obtaining near-field high-frequency ground motion and is regarded as an effective tool by researchers worldwide for simulating near-fault high-frequency ground motion. Because many model parameters in the finite-fault stochastic method are related to the source, site, and path, and the uncertainty of the input parameters frequently creates uncertainty of the synthesis results, it is difficult to obtain reasonable model parameters. The key point to consider when using EXSIM is how to determine the model parameters for ground motion simulation. Thus, the study investigated and discussed the sensitivity of some model parameters, such as site amplification and rupture velocity, to EXSIM synthesis results and updated modeling. The results showed that when the improved EXSIM was used, only the crustal site amplification function (CA) was adequate for Class A sites, whereas when EXSIM was used, both the CA and local site amplification (LA) functions had to be considered concurrently. Both CA and LA functions must be considered in the EXSIM for Class C and D sites. To obtain satisfactory synthesis results, the improved EXSIM requires only one LA function to be considered. Furthermore, the amplitude spectrum increased with rupture velocity, and the influence of rupture velocity was noticeable in the short period. Mitophagy is one of the important targets for the prevention and treatment of myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI). Moderate mitophagy can remove damaged mitochondria, inhibit excessive reactive oxygen species accumulation, and protect mitochondria from damage. However, excessive enhancement of mitophagy greatly reduces adenosine triphosphate production and energy supply for cell survival, and aggravates cell death. How dysfunctional mitochondria are selectively recognized and engulfed is related to the interaction of adaptors on the mitochondrial membrane, which mainly include phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN)-induced kinase 1/Parkin, hypoxia-inducible factor-1 α/Bcl-2 and adenovirus e1b19k Da interacting protein 3, FUN-14 domain containing protein 1 receptor-mediated mitophagy pathway and so on. In this review, the authors briefly summarize the main pathways currently studied on mitophagy and the relationship between mitophagy and MIRI, and incorporate and analyze research data on prevention and treatment of MIRI with Chinese medicine, thereby provide relevant theoretical basis and treatment ideas for clinical prevention of MIRI. The chief objective of the article is to investigate the bearing capacity of limestone strata roof containing a shallow-buried cylinder Karst cave. Firstly, taking into account the characteristics of Karst landform in China, a spatial axial-symmetrical model was established. Concurrently, the general solution of stress components was gained using Love displacement method. Subsequently, combining failure mechanism of ground collapse and the expressions of stress components, the bearing capacity calculation formula was determined. Due to the existence of drainage networks, urban areas have formed their own hydrological mechanism. The pretreatment of complex and elaborate drainage network data has become a challenging step in building an urban hydrological model. This study proposes a network-combing method based on the potential outfall mechanism for an urban drainage system, analyzes the topological structure of the underground network, and generates a subcatchment based on the potential outfall (SBPO). Two hydrological methods are constructed for a typical region in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. The results show that: The network-combing method of potential outfall mechanisms can well complete the sorting work of a drainage network system and can clarify the relative independent relationship. The SBPO method basically agrees with the SWMM constructed with a high-resolution network in terms of runoff volume, the peak value and the duration of the outflow process at the outfall. However, the subcatchment by the potential outfall mechanism can help to understand the service partition, and the calculation cost is greatly reduced. Background: The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused extensive public health concerns, posing significant challenges to healthcare services. One particular area of concern is the mental health of patients with mental disorder, who are often a neglected group. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of, and associated factors for symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among patients with mental disorder in China during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Self-reported questionnaires were distributed to patients in four psychiatric hospitals in Beijing, China, between April 28th and May 30th, 2020. Information regarding sociodemographic characteristics, COVID-19 related factors, support, psychosomatic factors, and PTSD symptoms were collected using a series of scales, such as the Impact of Event Scale-Revised, the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale, the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire depression scale, and so on. Multivariate regression was used to identify factors related to PTSD symptoms. Results: A total of 1,055 patients with mental disorder were included in the final sample. The prevalence of PTSD symptoms was 41.3%. Hierarchical linear regression demonstrated that fear of the pandemic and anxiety were shared associated factors for both symptoms of PTSD and their subscales. Additionally, age was an associated factor for the total PTSD (β = 0.12, p < 0.01), intrusion (β = 0.18, p < 0.001), and avoidance (β = 0.1, p < 0.05) symptoms; depression was an associated factor for the total PTSD (β = 0.13, p < 0.001), intrusion (β = 0.11, p < 0.01), and hyperarousal (β = 0.19, p < 0.001) symptoms. Conclusions: The prevalence of PTSD symptoms was high among patients with mental disorder during the COVID-19 pandemic in China. This study found that age, fear of the pandemic, anxiety and depression are significant associated factors of PTSD symptoms in patients with mental disorder during the pandemic. Objective: To confirm the improvement of cardiac function and quality of life (QOL) in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) via Chinese medicine (CM) Qishen Taohong Granule (芪参桃红颗粒, QTG). Methods: This study was a single-center, prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trial. Seventy-six patients from 27 to 84 years old diagnosed with CHF New York Heart Association (NYHA) class II or III in stage C were enrolled and randomly assigned at a 1:1 ratio to receive QTG or trimetazidine (TMZ), in addition to their standard medications for the treatment of CHF. The study period was 4 weeks. The primary outcomes included cardiac function evaluated by NYHA classification and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), as well as QOL evaluated by CHF Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Survival Scale (CHFQLS). The secondary outcomes included 6-min walking test (6MWT), CM syndrome score, symptom and sign scores and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP). All indices were measured at baseline and the end of the trial. Results: At the 4-week follow-up period, the effective rate according to NYHA classification in the QTG group was better than that in the TMZ group (74.29% vs. 54.29%, P<0.05). But there was no significant difference in post-treatment level of LVEF between the two groups (P>0.05). The CHFQLS scores improved by 13.82±6.04 vs. 7.49±2.28 in the QTG and TMZ groups, respectively (P<0.05). Subgroup analysis of the CHFQLS results showed that physiological function, role limitation and vitality were significantly higher in the QTG group than in the TMZ group (15.76±7.85 vs. 7.40±3.36, P<0.05; 16.00±8.35 vs. 10.53±4.64, P<0.05; 15.31±8.09 vs. 7.89±4.60, P<0.05). Compared with TMZ group, treatment with QTG also demonstrated superior performance with respect to 6MWT, CM syndrome, shortness of breath, fatigue, gasping, general edema and NT-proBNP level. No significant adverse reactions or adverse cardiac events occurred during treatment in either group. Conclusion: In addition to conventional treatments, the use of QTG as an adjuvant therapy significantly improved cardiac function and QOL in patients with CHF class II or III in stage C. In late 2020, we detected 32 highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N8) viruses in migratory ducks in Shanghai, China. Phylogenetic analysis of 5 representative isolates identified 2 sublineages of clade 2.3.4.4b. Each sublineage formed separate clusters with isolates from East Asia and Europe. Background: Peripheral T cell lymphoma (PTCL) is a rare disease and recent approved drugs for relapsed/refractory (r/r) PTCL provided limited clinical benefit. We conducted this study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of geptanolimab (GB226), an anti-PD-1 antibody, in r/r PTCL patients. Methods: We did this single-arm, multicenter phase 2 study across 41 sites in China. Eligible patients with r/r PTCL received geptanolimab 3 mg/kg intravenously every 2 weeks until disease progression or intolerable toxicity. All patients who received at least one dose of geptanolimab and histological confirmed PTCL entered full analysis set (FAS). The primary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR) in FAS assessed by the independent radiological review committee (IRRC) per Lugano 2014 criteria. Results: Between July 12, 2018, and August 15, 2019, 102 patients were enrolled and received at least one dose of geptanolimab. At the data cutoff date (August 15, 2020), the median follow-up was 4.06 (range 0.30–22.9) months. For 89 patients in FAS, 36 achieved objective response (40.4%, 95% CI 30.2–51.4), of which 13 (14.6%) were complete response and 23 (25.8%) had partial response assessed by IRRC. The median duration of response (DOR) was 11.4 (95% CI 4.8 to not reached) months per IRRC. Patients with PD-L1 expression ≥ 50% derived more benefit from geptanolimab treatment compared to < 50% ones (ORR, 53.3% vs. 25.0%, p = 0.013; median PFS 6.2 vs. 1.5 months, p = 0.002). Grade ≥ 3 treatment-related adverse events occurred in 26 (25.5%) patients, and the most commonly observed were lymphocyte count decreased (n = 4) and platelet count decreased (n = 3). Serious adverse events were observed in 45 (44.1%) patients and 19 (18.6%) were treatment related. Conclusions: In this study, geptanolimab showed promising activity and manageable safety profile in patients with r/r PTCL. Hosta virus X (HVX) is the most economically significant virus infecting hosta (Hosta spp.) plants worldwide, and has been reported from North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania. In May 2019, various viral-like disease symptoms were observed on hosta plants in a park in Harbin City in North-east China, and infection by HVX was confirmed by small RNA sequencing, RT-PCR and electron microscopy. The infectivity of HVX on Hosta ensata, a native species in North-east China, was confirmed by mechanical inoculation. We determined the complete genome sequence of an isolate of the virus, which revealed a high level of sequence similarity with other HVX genome sequences published to date. Phylogenetic analysis of HVX with other potexviruses based on the complete sequences revealed that all four HVX entries clustered to a single clade, which was most closely related to cassava common mosaic virus (CsCMV), hydrangea ringspot virus (HdRSV), plantago asiatica mosaic virus (PlAMV) and tulip virus X (TVX). Two potential recombination events were detected among the four HVX isolates. This work not only reports the complete genome sequence of an HVX isolate in North-east China for the first time, but also suggests the need to prevent further spread of this virus in the region. The SARS-CoV-2 epidemic started in late December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and has since impacted a large portion of China and raised major global concern. Herein, we investigated the extent of molecular divergence between SARS-CoV-2 and other related coronaviruses. Although we found only 4% variability in genomic nucleotides between SARS-CoV-2 and a bat SARS-related coronavirus (SARSr-CoV; RaTG13), the difference at neutral sites was 17%, suggesting the divergence between the two viruses is much larger than previously estimated. Our results suggest that the development of new variations in functional sites in the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike seen in SARS-CoV-2 and viruses from pangolin SARSr-CoVs are likely caused by natural selection besides recombination. Population genetic analyses of 103 SARS-CoV-2 genomes indicated that these viruses had two major lineages (designated L and S), that are well defined by two different SNPs that show nearly complete linkage across the viral strains sequenced to date. We found that L lineage was more prevalent than the S lineage within the limited patient samples we examined. The implication of these evolutionary changes on disease etiology remains unclear. These findings strongly underscores the urgent need for further comprehensive studies that combine viral genomic data, with epidemiological studies of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In 1999, Diexi paleo-dammed lake (2349 m a.s.l.) was discovered around Diexi town along the Minjiang River in Sichuan province. Diexi is located where the eastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau and the Sichuan Basin meet. The dammed lake was formed during the Last Glacial Maximum of the Late Pleistocene (~30,000 years ago) and began to empty about 15,000 years ago. The lacustrine sediments (up to 240 m thick) preserve abundant paleoenvironment information. In this paper, a mass of oxygen isotopes and 14C dating from drilled cores are analyzed and discussed. The δ18O curve on the paleo climate from this section is comparable with the coeval paleo climatic curves of ice cores and karsts in China and others. Furthermore, the physical model testing has confirmed that the disturbed zones in the core are caused by strong earthquakes occurred at least 10 times, which implies strong crustal deformation, as an important driving force, affecting climate change. Background: H6 subtype influenza viruses were prevalent in domestic poultry and wild birds, which also could pose potential threat to humans. However, little is known about the prevalence of H6 subtype viruses in wild birds in eastern China, a crucial stopover or wintering site for migratory wild birds along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. Methods: During the routine surveillance in 2016–2017, H6 subtype AIVs positive samples were identified, and the representative strains were selected for further sequence and phylogenetic analysis and the pathogenicity in mice were evaluated. Results: Among the 30 H6 positive samples, there were at least four subtypes H6N1, H6N2, H6N5 and H6N8 co-circulated in Shanghai, China. Genetic analysis showed the 8 representative isolates shared homology with different AIV sub-lineages isolated from domestic ducks or wild birds in different countries along the East Asian-Australasian flyways, and were classified into 7 new genotypes. The pathogenicity to mice showed that these H6 viruses could replicate efficiently in the lungs without prior adaptation, but could not cause mice death. Conclusions: Eight novel strains belonged to H6N1, H6N2, H6N5 and H6N8 subtypes were isolated. Phylogenetic analyses revealed multiple origins of internal genes indicative of robust reassortment events and frequent wild birds-poultry interaction encouraging the evolution and emergence of new genotypes. We adopted stochastic finite-fault simulations considering the nonstationary frequency characteristics for the 2022 Mw 6.6 Luding, China, earthquake at 16 strong-motion stations using the stochastic finite-fault model based on a dynamic corner frequency (EXSIM) code. The average simulated response spectra of earthquake ground motions were obtained and then compared with response spectra of 5% damped single degree of freedom system under recorded ground motion excitation to verify whether the finite-fault model that considers the nonstationary frequency characteristics can reproduce the critical characteristics of ground motions and improve the simulation accuracy. The high-frequency spectral decay is calculated by the real recordings and the stress drop is determined by the trial-and-error method. In addition, the local site amplifications are estimated from the horizontal-vertical spectral ratio (H/V). An improved EXSIM that considers the slip-related corner frequency is also used in this study. The results indicate that the nonstationary phase can significantly improve the simulation accuracy of EXSIM in the short period and has little effect on the long-period simulation results. However, the effect of the nonstationary phase on the simulation results obtained from the improved EXSIM is not significant. The columnar jointed basalt (CJB) in the left-bank dam foundation of the Baihetan hydropower station, China, is a special jointed rock mass with a columnar cylinder structure. A field investigation revealed three types of joints developing in the CJB: (1) columnar joints, (2) internal steeply dipping joints (ISDJ), and (3) internal gently dipping joints (IGDJ). A uniform distribution survey lines method (UDSLM) is proposed to describe quantitatively the spatial structural features of CJB exposed in limited outcrops. The visible spacing of internal joints in CJB is found to evolve; joint spacing decreases with increased degrees of weathering, disturbance, and time after unloading excavation. Combined with the actual structure, the formation mechanism of CJB is discussed from the structure of a single column to the whole rock mass, based on the contraction hypothesis. A columnar joint tensor, which is closely related to the CJB deformation characteristics, is established for describing the complex columnar joint network in the three-dimensional space based on the measurement data with the UDSLM. In addition, the structural characteristics of intact columns were exposed through dismantling cuboid specimens of 0.5 m edge lengths and 1.0 m height, verifying the rationality of the UDSLM and the evaluation of structural characteristics of CJB in the Baihetan dam foundation. This in situ study presents an in-depth understanding of CJB structure and provides meaningful guidance for excavation and supporting reinforcement for the CJB exposed on the Chinese Baihetan dam foundation. Stochastic finite-fault modelling based on the dynamic corner frequency is a widespread method for synthesizing near-fault ground motions at high frequencies and has been proven to be an effective tool for simulating high-frequency ground motions by researchers globally. Many input parameters, which have more uncertain effects on the synthetic result, are related to sources, sites, and paths in stochastic modelling. Thus, it is difficult to select reasonable parameters. When using the stochastic finite-fault method, the key link to be considered is how to determine the input parameters required for simulations. Based on this fact, this study analyzed and discussed the sensitivity of several important input parameters in the simulation parameters to the simulation results. The results showed that for the Class C site stations, the crustal and local site amplification factors must be considered simultaneously. Overall, the influence of the high-frequency attenuation parameter κ 0 calculated using different methods on the simulation results is not evident. For near-fault stations, various upper-edge buried depth synthetic response spectra can be set, and finally, the average value is taken as the final synthetic recorded response spectra. When using the random source model, the rupture starting point must be set on the subfault in the middle along the fault length and width direction. The Western Slope of the Songliao Basin is rich in heavy oil resources (>70×108 bbl), around which there are shallow gas reservoirs (∼1.0×1012 m3). The gas is dominated by methane with a dryness over 0.99, and the non-hydrocarbon component being overwelmingly nitrogen. Carbon isotope composition of methane and its homologs is depleted in 13C, with δ13C1 values being in the range of −55‰ to −75‰, δ13C2 being in the range of −40‰ to −53‰ and δ13C3 being in the range of −30‰ to −42‰, respectively. These values differ significantly from those solution gases source in the Daqing oilfield. This study concludes that heavy oils along the Western Slope were derived from mature source rocks in the Qijia-Gulong Depression, that were biodegraded. The low reservoir temperature (30–50°C) and low salinity of formation water with neutral to alkaline pH (NaHCO3) appeared ideal for microbial activity and thus biodegradation. Natural gas along the Western Slope appears mainly to have originated from biodegradation and the formation of heavy oil. This origin is suggested by the heavy δ13C of CO2 (−18.78‰ to 0.95‰) which suggests that the methane was produced via fermentation as the terminal decomposition stage of the oil. Background: Relationship of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) with parameters that could provide more information than hemodynamic renal indexes has not been clarified. We aimed to explore the association of comprehensive renal parameters with LVDD in a community-based elderly population. Methods: 1,166 community residents (aged ≥ 65 years, 694 females) participating in the Shanghai Heart Health Study with complete data of renal parameters were investigated. Echocardiography was used to evaluate diastolic function with conventional and tissue Doppler imaging techniques. Serum urea, creatinine, urea-to-creatinine ratio, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) were analyzed on their associations with LVDD. Results: The prevalence of LVDD increased in proportion to increasing serum urea, urea-to-creatinine ratio and UACR. These three renal parameters were found negatively correlated to peak early (E) to late (A) diastolic velocities ratio (E/A), and positively to left atrial volume index; UACR also positively correlated with E to peak early (E’) diastolic mitral annular velocity ratio (E/E’). Serum urea, urea-to-creatinine ratio and UACR correlated with LVDD in logistic univariate regression analysis, and urea-to-creatinine ratio remained independently correlated to LVDD [Odds ratio (OR) 2.82, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.34–5.95] after adjustment. Serum urea (OR 1.18, 95%CI 1.03–1.34), creatinine (OR 6.53, 95%CI 1.70­–25.02), eGFR (OR 0.22, 95%CI 0.07–0.65) and UACR (OR 2.15, 95%CI 1.42–3.24) were revealed independent correlates of advanced (moderate and severe) LVDD. The influence of selected yeast strains ( Pichia fermentans, Issatchenkia orientalis, Yarrowia lipolytica) on Camembert-type cheeses has been investigated by monitoring their microbial and compositional changes. During the ripening period from day 1 to day 15, the yeast strains grew exponentially and then slowed to a moderate growth rate. Our results indicated that the selected strains did not significantly affect the general characteristics of cheese but rather the content and ratio of individual free amino acids ( P < 0.05). In the cheese with added I. orientalis, a greater amount of small peptides and a higher concentration of non-protein nitrogen and NH were found. Meanwhile, the presence of adjunct yeasts did not enhance the lipolysis activity in cheese. A principal component analysis of 30 free fatty acids and volatile compounds differentiated five cheeses out of eight according to the content of specific free fatty acids and volatile compounds. method based on elemental analyser-isotope ratio mass spectrometer (EA-IRMS) was developed for the identification of the geographical origins of Schisandra fruits which are used as traditional Chinese medicines and important food materials. A total of 96 authentic samples from seven provinces in China were collected and subjected to stable carbon isotope ratio analysis (SCIRA), and the results showed that there were significant differences between the mean δC values of samples from different origins. By using single analyte δC, the Schisandra fruits from northeast China and south China could potentially be discriminated. A follow-up study will combine trace elements with stable isotope ratios to analyse a larger set of samples, to confirm the discrimination capability of C and to enhance the discrimination between close geographical regions. The frontal uplift of the Kuqa depression is an important oil and gas producing area. In this study, the distribution and origin of natural gas were discussed based on natural gas components and isotope data. The main components of natural gas were hydrocarbons with relatively high contents of C2+ component. Most gases were derived from terrestrial source rocks, and some came from marine rocks. The contents of non-hydrocarbon gases were high in the central part of the frontal uplift area and low in the two terminals. The distribution of oil composition was similar to that of natural gas, which was mainly controlled by the types of source rocks. Dry coefficient and maturity of natural gas in the frontal uplift were lower than those of gas in the Kelasu tectonic belt of the Kuqa depression, which was mainly affected by the difference of tectonic movements in both areas. In the frontal uplift, the traps were formed in the early stage and could capture the early formed oil and gas, and structural adjustment was slight in later stages, so the oil and gas could be effectively preserved. This paper proposes an approximation procedure of whitening response in GM(1, 1), GM(1, 1) procedure for short, by using a technique that combines the improved initial value with the optimized background value. The procedure is constructed and compared with the existing three kinds of GM (1, 1) models in modeling precision. We use the financial investments to science and technology forecasting of Jiangsu province of China as a case study to test the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed procedure. According to the experimental results, this procedure obviously can improve the prediction accuracy of the original grey model. Compared with the other three GM (1, 1) models, the modeling precision (simulation precision and forecast precision) of the GM (1, 1) procedure (model) is the highest. The influence of tail grouting on the ground surface settlement is firstly demonstrated through a challenging shield-driven tunnel project in Beijing City, China. FEA modelling incorporating the excavation sequence and tail grouting details is then set up to support the field observations, based on which the influences of different TBM tail-grouting parameters on ground settlement are investigated, especially the asymmetric tail-grouting in which one of the two grouting openings at the upper part of the shield tail is malfunctioned. It is shown that the grouting volume variation is inconsistent with the development of the grouting pressure, and the ground deformation in coarse-grained soils is directly related to the tail-grouting pressure rather than the grouting volume ratio. Asymmetric tail-grouting will result in notable offset of the maximum surface settlement point in settlement trough from tunnel centerline which correlates exponentially with the parameter ξ defined to represent the asymmetry ratio of the grouting pressure. The stochastic finite-fault approach was used to model the 2022 Luding earthquake with a magnitude of Mw 6.6 in China at 16 selected near-field stations. To investigate the impact of the site effect on the synthetic results, two models were taken into account: One model was obtained from the generalized inversion technique, and the other model was obtained from the horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio method. The high-frequency attenuation parameter was estimated to be 0.040 s and the value of 4.0 MPa for the stress parameter was adopted. Comparisons of the recorded and simulated Fourier amplitude spectrum, pseudospectral acceleration, peak ground acceleration, and peak ground velocity were performed to investigate the capability of the selected input parameters. In addition, the model bias, simulated peak ground acceleration and peak ground velocity were calculated by the local site amplification estimated by the two methods. The results show that the site effects estimated by the generalized inversion technique can well simulate the high-frequency response spectra and Fourier amplitude spectrum and can provide peak ground acceleration and peak ground velocity values consistent with the recorded values, while the local site amplification roughly calculated by the horizontal-to-vertical ratio method underestimates the main ground motion characteristics. Furthermore, strong-motion records with the same magnitude but different hypocentral distance ranges in the generalized inversion technique are used to estimate near-surface site effects, which shows that the distance range has a small impact on the estimation of local site amplification. GLS-010 (zimberelimab) is a novel, fully human, anti-programmed death-1 monoclonal antibody that shows promising efficacy and safety in advanced solid tumors. This trial aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of GLS-010 (zimberelimab) in Chinese patients with relapsed or refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma (r/r-cHL). This phase II, single-arm, open-label, multicenter clinical trial was conducted at 24 centers in China and enrolled patients with r/r-cHL after two or more lines of therapy. The patients were administered intravenous GLS-010 (zimberelimab) (240 mg, once every 2 weeks) until progression, death, unacceptable toxicity, or consent withdrawal. The primary end-point was the objective response rate assessed by an independent radiology review committee (IRC). This study was registered (NCT03655483). Eighty-five patients were enrolled between August 2018 and August 2019. The median follow-up was 15.8 months. Seventy-seven patients (90.6%; 95% confidence interval [CI] 82.3–95.9) had an IRC-assessed objective response. The complete response rate was 32.9% (n = 28). The 12-month progression-free survival and overall survival rates were 78% (95% CI 67.5–85.6) and 99% (95% CI 91.9–99.8), respectively. Treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) were observed in 92.9% of participants. Grade III or IV TRAEs occurred in 24 (28.2%) of the 85 participants. The most common grade III or IV TRAEs were abnormal hepatic function (5.9%), hyperuricemia (4.7%), decreased neutrophil count (3.5%), and increased weight (3.5%). Only one grade V AE, gastrointestinal infection, occurred. GLS-010 (zimberelimab) appears to be effective and safe for the treatment of Chinese patients with r/r-cHL. Babesiosis caused by Babesia orientalis, an intraerythrocytic apicomplexan protozoan, is one of the most important diseases for water buffalo in central and southern China, leading to huge economic losses, and its main diagnostic method is microscopic examination. In this study, a recombinase polymerase amplification - lateral flow dipstick (RPA-LF) assay, targeting the mitochondrial COXI gene of B. orientalis , was developed to detect B. orientalis in water buffalo. The RPA-LF assay was carried out as an isothermal reaction at 37 °C within 15 min. The specificity assay showed no cross-reactivity with other protozoa, and the sensitivity assay revealed the minimum detection limit was 0.25 parasite/μL, which was 40-fold more sensitive than that of conventional PCR (0.25 versus10 parasites/μL blood). Moreover, the RPA-LF method was successfully applied to test clinical samples, with no significant difference being observed between RPA-LF and conventional PCR results. Compared with conventional PCR, the novel RPA-LF method had the advantages of simple operation, short time, high sensitivity, and high specificity for B. orientalis detection, indicating the potential use of RPA-LF for rapid field detection of B. orientalis. Our study aimed to provide a mechanism for the action of Caulophyllum robustum Maxim extraction (CRME) against RA and to establish a method for studying disease treatment using Chinese medicine. The 3-(4, 5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2, 5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) method was used to detect the toxicity of CRME in L929 cells, and the concentration ranges of the blank, model, and CRME drug groups were determined. Differentially expressed long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) were identified between the three groups. Gene Ontology (GO) and pathway enrichment analyses were performed to analyze the biological functions and pathways of the differentially expressed genes. Expression of Hist1h2bj, Hist1h2ba, Zfp36, Ccl3, Cxcl2 and Egr1 in the blank, model and drug groups was detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), and the role of CRME on the above factors was determined to ensure consistency with the chip data. A total of 329 significantly upregulated genes and 141 downregulated genes were identified between the blank and model groups. A total of 218 significantly upregulated genes and 191 downregulated genes were identified between the CRME drug group and model group. CRME has a significant role in multiple pathways involved in the occurrence and development of RA. The tufa/travertine landscape is an important heritage and ecological wealth given to mankind by nature, of which rimstone dam limiting pools are important features that allow their development. This study explores the mechanisms influencing the formation of rimstone dams through the study of depositional behavior in the short-term under hydrodynamic action, hydrochemical changes, and biological characterization, independent from the long-term dynamics. Numerical simulations clearly show the complex flow regimes of the paired pool and rimstone dam. Differences in flow regime and particle transport distribution in different areas of the pool lead to differences in deposition at different areas of the pool. Hydrodynamic effects generate morphological changes of the pool-rimstone dam by promoting the deposition on the outer wall of the dam and causing no-deposition and remobilization (erosion in a broad sense) in the inner wall. Significant changes in the ion concentrations of Ca2+ and HCO 3 − occur at short distances in the external upper and lower parts of the dam, suggesting that the thin layer of water and high velocity conditions in the outer wall of the rimstone dam facilitate precipitation. Biological processes influence the development of rimstone dam and promote its thickening. The plant remains of leaves, branches, and roots provide the basic depositional framework and depositional template for rimstone dam growth. Besides, microorganisms affect the micro-morphology of calcite through their own metabolism. Knowledge of particle number size distribution (PND) and new particle formation (NPF) events in Southern China is essential for mitigation strategies related to submicron particles and their effects on regional air quality, haze, and human health. In this study, seven field measurement campaigns were conducted from December 2013 to May 2015 using a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) at four sites in Southern China, including three urban sites and one background site. Particles were measured in the size range of 15–615 nm, and the median particle number concentrations (PNCs) were found to vary in the range of 0.3 × 10 4 –2.2 × 10 4 cm − 3 at the urban sites and were approximately 0.2 × 10 4 cm − 3 at the background site. The peak diameters at the different sites varied largely from 22 to 102 nm. The PNCs in the Aitken mode (25–100 nm) at the urban sites were up to 10 times higher than they were at the background site, indicating large primary emissions from traffic at the urban sites. The diurnal variations of PNCs were significantly influenced by both rush hour traffic at the urban sites and NPF events. The frequencies of NPF events at the different sites were 0%–30%, with the highest frequency occurring at an urban site during autumn. With higher SO 2 concentrations and higher ambient temperatures being necessary, NPF at the urban site was found to be more influenced by atmospheric oxidizing capability, while NPF at the background site was limited by the condensation sink. This study provides a unique dataset of particle number and size information in various environments in Southern China, which can help understand the sources, formation, and the climate forcing of aerosols in this quickly developing region, as well as help constrain and validate NPF modeling. • Ferroptosis is involved in airway inflammation in OVA induced mouse asthmamodel. • Acupuncture relieves ferroptosis related exacerbation in airway inflammation. • Mechanism of acupuncture is associated with down regulation of ACSL4-15LO1. Acupuncture has been frequently used in China for the treatment asthma for thousands of years. Ferroptosis was recently revealed to be involved in several pathological conditions including asthma. However, the detailed links between ferroptosis and airway inflammation in asthma, as well as the detailed regulation of acupuncture on these disorders remains unclear. Our results demonstrated that the non-haem Fe2+ level increased markedly in the lung tissue of mouse asthma model, and positively correlated with R L and IL-4 level in BALF. Furthermore, lipid peroxidation markers MDA and GSSG increased remarkably in OVA-induced experimental asthma mice. Up-regulation of lipid peroxidation associated proteins ACSL4 and15-LO1 was also observed in OVA-induced experimental asthma mice. To demonstrate the role of ferroptosis in asthma and the effect of acupuncture on these disorders, ferroptosis-induction agent erastin and ferroptosis-inhibition agent fer-1 were used, and our data demonstrated that erastin could augment lung inflammation and lipid peroxidation in OVA induced asthma model. Fer-1 was able to relieve AHR, lung inflammation, non-haem Fe2+ level, lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis related pathway ACSL4-15LO1 in OVA-induced experimental asthma mice. Acupuncture treatment alleviated R L , lung inflammation as well as type 2 cytokines IL-4 and IL-13 levels induced by OVA inhalation. What's more, acupuncture significantly reduced the MDA and GSSG levels, the non-haem Fe2+ level and ACSL4-15-LO1 proteins expression. Acupuncture also relieved erastin-induced exacerbation in lung inflammation and lipid peroxidation in ferroptosis. Acupuncture treatment could relieve ferroptosis related exacerbation in airway inflammation. Our study provided insights into the underlying mechanisms for the protective effects of acupuncture and highlighted a therapeutic potential of acupuncture treatment in the attenuation of lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis in asthma. Background: Children are vulnerable to the respiratory effects of air pollution, and their lung function has been associated with long-term exposure to low air pollution level in developed countries. However, the impact of contemporary air pollution level in developing countries as a result of recent efforts to improve air quality on children's lung function is less understood., Methods: We obtained a cross-sectional sample of 617 schoolchildren living in three differently polluted areas in Anhui province, China. 2-year average concentrations of air pollutants at the year of spirometry and the previous year (2017-2018) obtained from district-level air monitoring stations were used to characterize long-term exposure. Forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV 1 ), and forced expiratory flow between 25 and 75% of FVC (FEF 25-75 ) were determined under strict quality control. Multivariable regression was employed to evaluate the associations between air pollution level and lung function parameters, overall and by demographic characteristics, lifestyle, and vitamin D that was determined by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry., Results: Mean concentration of fine particulate matter was 44.7 μg/m 3 , which is slightly above the interim target 1 standard of the World Health Organization. After adjusting for confounders, FVC, FEV 1 , and FEF 25-75 showed inverse trends with increasing air pollution levels, with children in high exposure group exhibiting 87.9 [95% confidence interval (CI): 9.5, 166.4] mL decrement in FEV 1 and 195.3 (95% CI: 30.5, 360.1) mL/s decrement in FEF 25-75 compared with those in low exposure group. Additionally, the above negative associations were more pronounced among those who were younger, girls, not exposed to secondhand smoke, non-overweight, physically inactive, or vitamin D deficient., Conclusions: Our study suggests that long-term exposure to relatively high air pollution was associated with impaired lung function in children. Emerging microbe infections, such as Zika virus (ZIKV), pose an increasing threat to human health. Investigations on ZIKV replication have revealed the construction of replication complexes (RCs), but the role of cytoskeleton in this process is largely unknown. Here, we investigated the function of cytoskeletal intermediate filament protein vimentin in the life cycle of ZIKV infection. Using advanced imaging techniques, we uncovered that vimentin filaments undergo drastic reorganization upon viral protein synthesis to form a perinuclear cage-like structure that embraces and concentrates RCs. Genetic removal of vimentin markedly disrupted the integrity of RCs and resulted in fragmented subcellular dispersion of viral proteins. This led to reduced viral genome replication, viral protein production, and release of infectious virions, without interrupting viral binding and entry. Furthermore, mass spectrometry and RNA-sequencing screens identified interactions and interplay between vimentin and hundreds of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident RNA-binding proteins. Among them, the cytoplasmic-region of ribosome receptor binding protein 1, an ER transmembrane protein that directly binds viral RNA, interacted with and was regulated by vimentin, resulting in modulation of ZIKV replication. Enteroviruses (EVs) species A are a major public health issue in the Asia-Pacific region and cause frequent epidemics of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in China. Mild infections are common in children; however, HFMD can also cause severe illness that affects the central nervous system. To molecularly characterize EVs, a prospective HFMD virological surveillance program was performed in China between 2013 and 2016. Throat swabs, rectal swabs and stool samples were collected from suspected HFMD patients at participating hospitals. EVs were detected using generic real-time and nested reverse transcription-polymerase chain reactions (RT-PCRs). Then, the complete VP1 regions of enterovirus A71 (EV-A71), coxsackievirus A16 (CVA16) and CVA6 were sequenced to analyze amino acid changes and construct a viral molecular phylogeny. Of the 2836 enrolled HFMD patients, 2,517 (89%) were EV positive. The most frequently detected EVs were CVA16 (32.5%, 819), CVA6 (31.2%, 785), and EV-A71 (20.4%, 514). The subgenogroups CVA16&#95;B1b, CVA6&#95;D3a and EV-A71&#95;C4a were predominant in China and recombination was not observed in the VP1 region. Sequence analysis revealed amino acid variations at the 30, 29 and 44 positions in the VP1 region of EV-A71, CVA16 and CVA6 (compared to the respective prototype strains BrCr, G10 and Gdula), respectively. Furthermore, in 21 of 24 (87.5%) identified EV-A71 samples, a known amino acid substitution (D31N) that may enhance neurovirulence was detected. Our study provides insights about the genetic characteristics of common HFMD-associated EVs. However, the emergence and virulence of the described mutations require further investigation.

In late 2020, we detected 32 highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N8) viruses in migratory ducks in Shanghai, China. Phylogenetic analysis of 5 representative isolates identified 2 sublineages of clade 2.3.4.4b. Each sublineage formed separate clusters with isolates from East Asia and Europe.

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study established a nomogram to predict survival probability in Asian patients with LSCC. A risk prediction nomogram for patients with LSCC, incorporating easily assessable clinicopathologic factors, generates more precise estimations of the survival probability when compared TNM stage alone, but still need additional data before being used in clinical application., Background: Due to a wide variation of tumor behavior, prediction of survival in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) patients received curative-intent surgery is an important but formidable challenge. We attempted to establish a nomogram to precisely predict survival probability in LSCC patients., Methods: A total of 369 consecutive LSCC patients underwent curative resection between 2008 and 2012 at Hunan Province Cancer Hospital were included in the present study. Subsequently, 369 LSCC patients were assigned to a training set (N=261) and a validation set (N=108) at random. On the basis of multivariable Cox regression analysis results, we developed a nomogram. The predictive accuracy and discriminative ability of the nomogram were confirmed by calibration curve and a concordance index (C-index), and compared with TNM stage system by C-index, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis., Results: Six independent parameters to predict prognosis were age, pack years, N-stage, lymph node ratio (LNR), anemia and albumin, which were all assembled into the nomogram. The calibration curve verified excellent models' concordance. The C-index of the nomogram was 0.73 (0.68-0.78), and the area under curve (AUC) of nomogram in predicting overall survival (OS) was 0.766, which were significantly higher than traditional TNM stage. Background: Existing studies reporting on the levels of physical fitness among college students used relatively few fitness tests as a reflection of physical fitness, which could not comprehensively evaluate the levels of physical fitness. Thus, the current study aimed to investigate the cross-sectional relationship between body mass index (BMI) and a physical fitness index (PFI) based on six indicators of fitness in Chinese college students., Method: Anthropometric measurements and six measures of physical fitness (Vital capacity, 50-m sprint, sit and reach, standing long jump, 800/1000-m run, pull-up/bent-leg sit-up) were measured. BMI was calculated to classify individuals into underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obesity groups. Z-scores based on sex-specific mean and standard deviation were calculated, and the sum of z-scores for the six fitness tests was used as a PFI. Three models (a linear regression model, polynomial regression model with a second-order BMI term and a restricted cubic spline regression model) were fitted to discuss the potential relation between BMI and PFI. We compared the models using Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and R square., Results: Totally, 8548 freshmen from the years 2014 to 2016 in a medical college completed the physical fitness tests. There was a decreasing trend of physical fitness index from the years 2014 to 2016 (P for trend < 0.01). More male than female students were overweight or obese (23.5% vs. 11.9%), but more female than male students were normal weight (74.7% vs. 64.8%). A restricted cubic spline regression model was superior to linear and polynomial regression model with lower AIC and higher R square., Conclusions: The relationships between BMI and PFI in college students were non-linear. Underweight, overweight and obese students had poorer performance in physical fitness index than normal weight students. Future prospective, longitudinal cohort studies to identify the causal relations and potential mechanism in a good manner are required.

Short form of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is often needed to quickly estimate intelligence for time-saving or screening in clinical practice. The present study aims to examine the psychometric properties of Chinese version of the four-subtest index-based short form (SF4) of WAIS-IV (FS) and to confirm its clinical application. 1,757 adults from the WAIS-IV Chinese version standardization sample and 239 mixed clinical samples including patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder (SCH), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and mild or moderate intellectual disability (ID) were used. Demographic data were collected and intelligence was assessed with WAIS-IV. The SF4 split-half reliability, test-retest stability coefficients and corrected SF4-FS correlations were good to excellent. The result of the Bland-Altman plot showed that the difference fell within 2SD was 95% and indicated a random error. The sensitivity, specificity positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of the stepwise screening were good. There was an interaction (p < .001) between the IQ level (≥111) and gender on the accuracy of SF4, SF4 might get underestimated on females with the IQ level (≥111) than on males. In conclusion, SF4 is a valid and reliable instrument for use in the clinic, and its clinical application, stepwise screening and influencing factors in clinical use are discussed herein.

Babesia gibsoni (B. gibsoni), an intracellular apicomplexan protozoan, poses great threat to canine health. Currently, little information is available about the B. gibsoni (WH58) endemic to Wuhan, China. Here, the mitochondrial (mt) genome of B. gibsoni (WH58) was amplified by five pairs of primers and sequenced and annotated by alignment with the reported mt genome sequences of Babesia canis (B. canis, KC207822), Babesia orientalis (KF218819), Babesia bovis (AB499088), and Theileria equi (AB499091). The evolutionary relationships were analyzed with the amino acid sequences of cytochrome c oxidase I (cox1) and cytochrome b (cob) genes in apicomplexan parasite species. Additionally, the mt genomes of Babesia, Theileria, and Plasmodium spp. were compared in size, host infection, form, distribution, and direction of the protein-coding genes. The full size of the mt genome of B. gibsoni (WH58) was 5865 bp with a linear form, containing terminal-inverted repeats on both ends, six large subunit ribosomal RNA fragments, and three protein-coding genes: cox1, cob, and cytochrome c oxidase III (cox3). Babesia, Theileria, and Plasmodium spp. had a similar mt genome size of about 6000 bp. The mt genomes of parasites that cause canine babesiosis showed a slightly smaller size than the other species. Moreover, Babesia microti (R1 strain) was about 11,100 bp in size, which was twice larger than that of the other species. The mt form was linear for Babesia and Theileria spp. but circular for Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium knowlesi. Additionally, all the species contained the three protein-coding genes of cox1, cox3, and cob except Toxoplasma gondii (RH strain) which only contained the cox1 and cob genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that B. gibsoni (WH58) was more identical to B. gibsoni (AB499087), B. canis (KC207822), and Babesia rossi (KC207823) and most divergent from Babesia conradae in Babesia spp. Despite the highest similarity to B. gibsoni (AB499087) reported in Japan, B. gibsoni (WH58) showed notable differences in the sequence of nucleotides and amino acids and the property in virulence to host and in vitro cultivation. This study compared the mt genomes of the two B. gibsoni isolates and other parasites in the phylum Apicomplexa and provided new insights into their differences and evolutionary relationships.
