This paper investigates the impact on polluting emissions as a result of manufacturing industries in China offering services as well as products. We merge detailed firm-level statistics covering 2000 to 2011, and use two-way linear fixed effects regression to control for firm and year heterogeneities and a host of control variables. The empirical results show that manufacturing servitization significantly reduces the emission intensity of firms. This effect is achieved by improving the total factor productivity of firms, optimizing the efficiency of energy use, and increasing the share of the highly-skilled labour force. Moreover, the emission reduction effect of manufacturing servitization is more profound in the eastern and central regions, pollution-intensive industries, non-state-owned firms, and processing trade firms. In addition, our extended analysis shows that the emission reduction effects of manufacturing servitization can be strengthened through trade liberalization and cohort study. The major policy implication is that governments should undertake industrial policies that reinforce the positive effects of manufacturing servitization in order to achieve win-win outcomes in manufacturing upgrading and environmental protection. Introduction: Ixekizumab, a monoclonal antibody against interleukin-17A, is efficacious and well tolerated for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. However, there are limited data on the real-world safety of ixekizumab in Chinese patient populations. We performed an observational study of ixekizumab for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in routine clinical practice in China. Here we present a further safety analysis of this study. Methods: In this prospective, observational, single-arm, multicenter, post-marketing safety study, adults (≥18 years) with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis receiving ixekizumab were enroled at dermatology departments in hospitals across China and prospectively followed for 12 weeks or until their last dose of ixekizumab. In this analysis, we evaluated adverse events (AEs) of special interest (AESIs) identified using MedDRA® search strategies. We also analyzed AEs and AESIs occurring in greater than ten patients in subgroups by age (< 65/≥ 65 years), sex, body weight (< 60/60 kg to < 80/≥ 80 kg), renal impairment, hepatic impairment, history of tuberculosis, history of HBV infection, recent or active infection, history of allergic reaction/hypersensitivity, and number (0–1/2–4/5–7) of ixekizumab 80 mg injections after baseline until day 105. Results: This analysis included 663/666 patients enrolled in the primary study. At least one AESI was reported in 224 (33.8%) patients and considered related to ixekizumab in 181 (27.3%); the most common were injection site reactions (n = 131, 19.8%), infections (n = 80, 12.1%), and allergic reactions/hypersensitivity events (n = 59, 8.9%). The proportion of patients with ≥ 1 AE was higher for females versus males (99/186, 53.2% versus 184/477, 38.6%, p = 0.0006). The proportion of patients with ≥ 1 AE increased with the number of ixekizumab injections after baseline [61/188 (32.4%) for zero to one injection, 151/338 (44.7%) for two to four injections, and 61/106 (57.5%) for five to seven injections; p = 0.0001]. Conclusions: In this real-world study, ixekizumab was well tolerated in Chinese patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, with no difference in safety across most patient subgroups. In this paper, we report on how authors of academic writing in Chinese (AWC) refer to themselves as single authors in the area of language studies. We find that AWC writers rely on the 1st-person plural 我们 women "we," 3rd-person NPs such as 作者/笔者 zuozhe/bizhe "this author," and inanimate NPs such as 本文 benwen "this article/paper" for self-reference. Based on these findings and subsequent surveys of journal style guides and interviews of authors, we propose that (1) these self-referring expressions are a set of conventions; (2) the motivation for these conventions is modesty, a deep-routed value of Chinese society; and (3) these expressions serve as indexicals to the writers' identity of a modest scholar in the particular discursive context: the genre of academic writing. By so doing, our work links language use to social values, to identity studies, as well as to genre analysis, thus contributing to the literature in all these fields of investigation. The completed bridge alignment of super long-span railway bridges is prone to large deviation from the design alignment, which leads to the unrealization of the original rail surface design alignment, and it is usually necessary to change the rail surface alignment on the basis of the completed bridge alignment. In order to ensure that the changed rail surface alignment meets the requirements of train operation performance, it is particularly important to reasonably evaluate the completed bridge alignment of long-span railway bridges before laying the track. In this paper, the characteristics of the measured completed bridge alignment of a long-span railway bridge in China are analyzed. Combined with the adjustable capacity of ballast bed on the bridge, an evaluation method of completed bridge alignment of long-span railway bridges based on riding quality is proposed, and the amplitude of completed bridge alignment within the sensitive wavelength range of the vehicle body is taken as the evaluation index. Firstly, according to the evaluation principle that the vertical acceleration of vehicle body caused by line random irregularity, additional deformation of bridge under external loads and rail surface alignment does not exceed level I management standard, the maximum acceleration caused by rail surface alignment within the sensitive wavelength range of vehicle body is determined. Then the correlation between vertical acceleration of vehicle body and chord measurement amplitude, and the correlation between chord measurement amplitude and linear amplitude are studied to determine the maximum amplitude of rail surface alignment within the sensitive wavelength range of vehicle body. Finally, by deducing the correspondence between rail surface alignment amplitude and completed bridge alignment amplitude within the sensitive wavelength range of the vehicle body, the limit value of the evaluation index is formulated. Taking a kilometer-level suspension bridge in China as an example, the limit value of the evaluation index is determined to be 58 mm according to the method of this paper. The maximum value of the measured completed bridge alignment within the sensitive wavelength range of the vehicle body of this bridge is 36 mm, which does not exceed the limit value, indicating that the control effect of the completed bridge alignment is good, and on the premise of meeting the requirements of ballast bed thickness, the rail surface alignment which meets the riding quality can be laid on the basis of the completed bridge alignment. Rainfall has a significant impact on urban population mobility, posing great challenges to traffic management and urban planning. An understanding of this influence from multiple perspectives is urgently needed. In this study, we devised a multiscale comparative research framework to explore the spatiotemporal effects of rainfall on taxi travel patterns, aiming to provide a new perspective on the investigation of rainfall's impact on urban human mobility. More specifically, at the macroscopic scale, we computed taxi travel indicators across the entire study area and used kernel density estimates to observe the spatiotemporal distribution patterns influenced by rainfall. Subsequently, complex traffic networks were constructed by considering urban road intersections as nodes and combined with visualization methods to understand changes in taxi travel patterns visually at the microscopic level. We selected Wuhan City, a typical urban area in southern China with frequent rainfall, as the study area and used meteorological data along with a large volume of taxi spatiotemporal trajectory data for investigation. Results indicated a 4.16% decrease in weekly travel volume due to rainfall, with a 3.96% decrease on workdays and a 4.64% decrease on weekends. However, nighttime rainfall between 19:00 and 22:00 on weekdays increased the demand for taxi travel. Furthermore, the impact of rainfall on weekends exceeded that on workdays, restricting people's mobility and leisure activities, resulting in reduced travel to recreational tourist spots and commercial pedestrian streets. Rainfall altered residents' travel preferences to some extent, with more residents choosing taxis during rainy weather, which led to decreased transportation efficiency and increased traffic congestion. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between population mobility patterns and the urban ecological environment, providing valuable insights for planning resident travel and taxi dispatching under adverse weather conditions. This is an exploratory research that seeks to investigate how ideology predicts Taiwanese perceptions of cross-strait relations, including attitudes toward Taiwan independence, perceptions of mainland China and Chinese people, Chinese invasion of Taiwan, and Chinese democracy. We took an inductive approach to left-right differences in Taiwan to offer a more systematic empirical understanding of ideology beyond the West. To do so, we conducted a nationally representative survey among adult Taiwan citizens (N = 1,350). Findings revealed that those who identified with the Left (vs. Right) tended to demonstrate more negative perceptions of cross-strait relations. Specifically, the political left is more negative about the outlook of Chinese democracy while favoring Taiwan independence, than the political right. Furthermore, the political left perceives both mainland China and the Chinese people more negatively than the political right. These findings underscore the role of ideology for a full comprehension of cross-strait relations, as they indicated a fundamental difference between the political left vs. right in terms of perceptions of cross-strait relations. The Carboniferous Yanghugou Formation in the western margin of the Ordos Basin exhibits significant potential for oil and gas exploration. However, due to the influence of complex tectonic activities, there are substantial variations in stratigraphic thickness and depositional environments across the formation. The lack of a systematic source–sink comparative study has resulted in an unclear understanding of sediment sources and paleogeographic patterns, impacting the exploration for hydrocarbon accumulations. We conducted a comprehensive study of the source–sink system characteristics and paleogeography in the research area through field outcrop observations and drilling core sampling. By utilizing detrital zircon U–Pb geochronology and geochemistry, paleocurrent directions, lithofacies types, and sedimentary features, we delve into the understanding of the source–sink systems. Four major source–sink regions in the research area were identified: the Alxa, Yinshan, Alxa–Yinshan mixed and Qilian source–sink regions. The Alxa source–sink region formed a transitional delta-barrier-island sedimentary system. The northern part of the Yinshan source–sink region developed a transitional tidal-controlled delta-tidal-flat sedimentary system, while the southern deep-water area developed a shallow marine to semi-deep marine shelf sedimentary systems. The sediments of Alxa–Yinshan mixed source–sink region were deposited in a transitional tidal-controlled delta-tidal-flat barrier-island system. The Qilian source–sink region is characterized by small tidal-controlled delta-barrier-island system. From the analysis of the source–sink systems, it is inferred that the Alxa Block and the North China Craton had already merged before deposition of the late Carboniferous Yanghugou Formation. The delta sand bodies in the Alxa–Yinshan mixed source–sink region have the highest compositional and structural maturity, the best reservoir performance, and the great exploration potential. Background. The coronary artery calcium score (CACS) is commonly employed to quantify the degree of calcification in coronary atherosclerosis. Indeed, increased coronary stenosis severity is associated with a progressive increase in CACS. Objectives. This study sought to explore the association between CACS and coronary stenosis of ≥50% and ≥70%. Methods. We conducted a retrospective analysis of patient data collected between July 1, 2017, and March 3, 2022, at Jiangmen Central Hospital. A total of 208 patients, presenting with both symptomatic and asymptomatic manifestations and suspected coronary artery disease (CAD), were included. Statistical analyses included ROC curve assessments, subgroup analyses based on age, and comparisons of CACS values against the presence of coronary stenosis ≥50% and ≥70%. Results. Ultimately, 208 patients were included, with a median age of 65.0 years and a median CACS of 115.7 (interquartile range: 13.7–369.4). A CACS threshold of ≥1300 demonstrated a specificity of 100% for coronary stenosis of ≥50%. Notably, the percentage of patients with obstructive CAD showing CACS = 0 was significantly higher in those under 65 years (15.1%) compared to patients over 65 years (3.8%) (P = 0.005). The inflection point, at which the risk probability for coronary stenosis of ≥50% shifted from being a protective factor to a risk factor, was observed when CACS fell within the range of 63.3 to 66.0. Background: Estrogen receptor-positive and progesterone receptor-negative (ER + /PR-) breast cancer comprise a special type. More than 10% breast cancer patients belonged to ER + /PR-. Methods: In order to better understand this patient population, we utilized a unique dataset from China, examining the clinicopathological features and genomic profiles of ER + /PR- breast cancers. Our study involved three cohorts: Cohort 1 included 2120 unselected ER-positive female patients with re-evaluated clinicopathological and survival data; Cohort 2 comprised 442 ER-positive females who underwent genetic testing; and Cohort 3 consisted of 77 ER-positive/HER2-negative females tested with MammaPrint and BluePrint. Results: Patients were stratified into four categories based on the PR/ER ratio. Clinically, ER + /PR- tumors (PR/ER ratio = 0) showed the lowest proportion of T1 tumors (10.88%) and highest proportion of HER2-positive tumors (28.36%) than did other ER + /PR + tumors groups. The ER + /PR- group contained a higher number of underweight patients (20.20%). Independently of HER2 status, ER + /PR- patients demonstrated the poorest prognosis. Genomically, the most prevalent mutations were PIK3CA (50%) in ER + /PR + tumors and TP53 (65%) in ER + /PR- tumors. ER + /PR- tumors presented more frequent mutations in TP53, ERBB2, CDK12, SPEN, and NEB, with mutation rates of 65%, 42%, 27%, 13%, and 10%, respectively. Additionally, the Tumor Mutational Burden (TMB) was higher in the ER + /PR- group compared to the ER + /PR + group. The MammaPrint score for the ER + /PR-/HER2- group was significantly lower than that of other groups. In the BluePrint analysis, only four patients were classified as Basal-Type, all of whom were ER + /PR-/HER2-. Conclusions: In this study, we identified the clinical and genetic characteristics of ER + /PR- breast cancer patients in China. Distinct PR statuses indicated different biological processes of ER + breast cancer and survival outcomes. Future treatment strategies may need to be tailored for ER + /PR- patients. Background: Sexual dysfunction is common among postmenopausal women and can have a significant negative impact on quality of life. Aim: This study aimed to explore perceptions, experiences, and coping strategies related to sex among postmenopausal women in China. Methods: We used phenomenologic qualitative methods in this study. On the basis of purposive sampling and the data saturation principle, 21 volunteers from a community cohort study were selected for semistructured interviews. The data were analyzed and themes were extracted. Outcomes: Thematic codes pertaining to sexual experiences and coping strategies were defined and assessed in this study. Results: Four themes and 12 subthemes were extracted from the interview data. The sexual concepts were relatively conservative for most of the Chinese women; the majority experienced physical and psychological distress with respect to sex, although negative and positive psychological experiences were described. The women often passively accepted and adapted to negative changes to their sex lives during the postmenopause period. Clinical Implications: This study highlights the importance of and need for effective dissemination of sexual health–related knowledge and the opening of appropriate communication channels. Strengths and Limitations: By using a qualitative approach, this study provides individuals with the opportunity to describe their cognition and attitudes toward sexuality. Limitations include limited generalizability, as is true for most qualitative research. Additionally, the study is based solely on the female perspective and cannot fully reflect the sex life of couples. Conclusion: The sexual experiences of our respondents exhibited distinct Chinese cultural characteristics. The interviews show the importance of paying attention to postmenopausal women's sexual health and providing relevant professional support and guidance to improve women's overall health-related quality of life. During weathering and pedogenesis of carbonate rock with poor-uranium (U) and thorium (Th), U and Th present the characteristics of strong leaching (especially U) and significant residual enrichment, the cause of which is still unclear. In this paper, a weathering profile developed by dolomite in karst area of Guizhou province in southwest China was selected, which showed zonation characteristics of bedrock (Y), powdery rock (Yf), and soil layer (T1 to T12) from the bottom to up. Through the determination of the occurrence speciation of U and Th in Y and weathering profile, combined with mineralogical, geochemical characteristics, and element mass balance calculation, the constraints of U and Th speciation on the geochemical behavior of U and Th during the weathering of carbonate rock were revealed. The results proved that U and Th in Y preferentially existed in acid insoluble phase, for example, the contents of U and Th in Y were 0.90 mg·kg−1 and 0.28 mg·kg−1, respectively, while those in acid insoluble matter were 2.34 mg·kg−1 and 2.57 mg·kg−1, respectively, but because the mass percentage of acid insoluble matter was extremely low (0.95%), the mass percentages of U and Th in the acid soluble phase in the whole rock were absolutely superior (96% of U and 86% Th). The U and Th in the acid soluble phase of Y were mainly adsorbed on the crystal surface of carbonate minerals or existed in the cement, and the U and Th in the carbonate lattice only accounted for a small proportion. From Y to Yf with the initial dissolution, U and Th released from the surface of carbonate minerals and cements were in carbonate-rich alkaline environment, and these portions of U and Th were leached out, resulting in strong loss of U and Th in the Yf (the loss rates are 83% of U and 65% of Th, respectively). From the Yf to the overlying soil layer T1, the carbonate components were completely dissolved, and the U and Th released from the carbonate lattice showed different behaviors, where U was completely leached and Th tended to stay in the weathered residue. Thus, in the soil layer T1 formed by Y or Yf , the residual U was the inheritance of the U in the acid insoluble phase of Y; For Th, it not only inherited the Th of acid insoluble phase of Y, but also superimposed the Th from carbonate lattice in Y. On the other hand, during the evolution process from Y to Yf and to soil layer T1, with the dissolution of carbonate, the acid insoluble phase also showed a significant tendency of chemical weathering. However, the U and Th in the Y acid insoluble phase were not leached with the decomposition of the acid insoluble phase but were redistributed among the residual phases. For the geochemical behaviors of U and Th in the evolution of soil profile (T1~T12), they were subjected to the occurrence speciation of U and Th in T1 and the change of U and Th occurrence speciation with the upward direction of soil profile. The U and Th released from the carrier minerals were mainly redistributed among the residual solid phases, which weakened the intensity of their further loss. This study deepens the understanding of the geochemical behavior of radionuclides in karst environment and provides reference for the treatment of radioactive pollution in karst areas. Introduction: Candida palmioleophila is a rare human pathogenic fungus, which has been poorly characterized at the genome level. In this study, we reported the first fatal case of C. palmioleophila infection in China and investigate the microevolution of C. palmioleophila in the human host environment. Methods: A series of C. palmioleophila stains were collected from the patient at different time points for routine microbial and drug sensitivity testing. The first C. palmioleophila isolate 07202534 was identified by de novo whole genome sequencing. The in vitro and in vivo genetic evolutionary characteristics of C. palmioleophila were discussed based on the analysis of bioinformatics data. Results: The six C. palmioleophila isolates displayed dose-dependent sensitivity to fluconazole. The C. palmioleophila genome contained homologous genes such as CDR1 and MDR1, which were recognized to be related to azole resistance. In addition, amino acid variation was detected at F105L and other important sites of ERG11. In addition, the mean divergence time between C. palmioleophila and Scheffersomyces stipites CBS 6054 was 406.04 million years, indicating that C. palmioleophila originated earlier than its closest relative. In addition, the six strains of C. palmioleophila isolated form the patient had higher homology and fewer mutation sites, which indicated the stability in C. palmioleophila genome. We also found that C. palmioleophila had a wide natural niche and may evolve slowly. Discussion: We believe that this study will contribute to improve our understanding of the genetic evolution, pathogenicity, and drug resistance of C. palmioleophila and will aid in the prevention and control of its spread. Concerning the ever-changing wetland environment, the efficient extraction of wetland information holds great significance for the research and management of wetland ecosystems. China's vast coastal wetlands possess rich and diverse geographical features. This study employs the SegFormer model and Sentinel-2 data to conduct a wetland classification study for coastal wetlands in Yancheng, Jiangsu, China. After preprocessing the Sentinel data, nine classification objects (construction land, Spartina alterniflora (S. alterniflora), Suaeda salsa (S. salsa), Phragmites australis (P. australis), farmland, river system, aquaculture and tidal falt) were identified based on the previous literature and remote sensing images. Moreover, mAcc, mIoU, aAcc, Precision, Recall and F-1 score were chosen as evaluation indicators. This study explores the potential and effectiveness of multiple methods, including data image processing, machine learning and deep learning. The results indicate that SegFormer is the best model for wetland classification, efficiently and accurately extracting small-scale features. With mIoU (0.81), mAcc (0.87), aAcc (0.94), mPrecision (0.901), mRecall (0.876) and mFscore (0.887) higher than other models. In the face of unbalanced wetland categories, combining CrossEntropyLoss and FocalLoss in the loss function can improve several indicators of difficult cases to be segmented, enhancing the classification accuracy and generalization ability of the model. Finally, the category scale pie chart of Yancheng Binhai wetlands was plotted. In conclusion, this study achieves an effective segmentation of Yancheng coastal wetlands based on the semantic segmentation method of deep learning, providing technical support and reference value for subsequent research on wetland values. China has focused on the exploration and development of shale gas resources to reduce its reliance on coal and shift to cleaner energy sources. While significant progress has been made in the Sichuan Basin, unlocking the shale gas potential in other regions of South China has proven challenging due to the complex geology and mountainous terrain. In 2021, Well QSD-1 was deployed in southwestern Guizhou and achieved a daily shale gas flow of 11,011 m3 in the Dawuba Formation, marking the first time an industrial gas flow had been obtained from shale gas drilling in the marine strata of the Upper Paleozoic in China. This breakthrough has deepened the understanding of the southern China Carboniferous marine strata and highlighted key aspects of the formation: (1) Sedimentation occurred in alternating platforms and basins, with most organic-rich shale developed in sloping and basin areas; (2) the formation exhibits favorable static indicators, with a relatively thick section (over 200 m), and an organic carbon content of approximately 1%; (3) the intercalation of argillaceous limestone and shale intervals is conducive to the preservation of shale gas within the formation. These results demonstrate the potential for the Upper Paleozoic in South China to become a significant shale gas producer, which could contribute significantly to China's energy security. Furthermore, exploring shale gas in the region may have positive economic and environmental impacts, including reducing China's dependence on coal and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. Payment notifications are becoming ubiquitous due to the popularity of online payment, which are usually considered to be records of consumption. However, the effect of payment notifications on consumer behavior has not been fully understood. Given this research void, this study explores the effects of payment notifications on consumers' consumption amount during a multiple‐purchase shopping journey. Considering the prevalence of online payment in China, we conducted four experiments using Chinese samples. The results confirm that payment notifications can evoke consumers' pain of payment, which consequently reduces consumers' subsequent shopping amount. Additionally, we argue that the effects of payment notifications on consumer behavior are different in the early/late stage of the shopping journey or in the gift‐purchasing/self‐purchasing conditions. Objective To summarize the characteristics of cognitive function and sleep structure in patients with idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) and to explore the correlation between them. Methods Total 73 patients with iRBD who visited Fujian Medical University Union Hospital from August 2018 to August 2021 were included, all of whom underwent neuropsychological tests and polysomnography monitoring. Pearson and partial correlation analyses were used to explore correlation between cognitive function and sleep structure parameters. Results 1) Neuropsychological tests: iRBD patients had lower Mini - Mental State Examination (MMSE; t = - 3.703, P = 0.000), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA; t = - 4.811, P = 0.000), Verbal Fluency Test (VFT)-number of correct words (t = - 2.171, P = 0.032) than control group. Background: Iva xanthiifolia, native to North America, is now widely distributed in northeastern China and has become a vicious invasive plant. This article aims to probe the role of leaf extract in the invasion of I. xanthiifolia. Methods: We collected the rhizosphere soil of Amaranthus tricolor and Setaria viridis in the invasive zone, the noninvasive zone and the noninvasive zone treated with extract from I. xanthiifolia leaf, and obtained I. xanthiifolia rhizosphere soil in the invasive zone. All wild plants were identified by Xu Yongqing. I. xanthiifolia (collection number: RQSB04100), A. tricolor (collection number: 831,030) and S. viridis (collection number: CF-0002-034) are all included in Chinese Virtual Herbarium (https://www.cvh.ac.cn/index.php). The soil bacterial diversity was analyzed based on the Illumina HiSeq sequencing platform. Subsequently, taxonomic analysis and Faprotax functional prediction were performed. Results: The results showed that the leaf extract significantly reduced the diversity of indigenous plant rhizosphere bacteria. A. tricolor and S. viridis rhizobacterial phylum and genus abundances were significantly reduced under the influence of I. xanthiifolia or its leaf extract. The results of functional prediction showed that bacterial abundance changes induced by leaf extracts could potentially hinder nutrient cycling in native plants and increased bacterial abundance in the A. tricolor rhizosphere related to aromatic compound degradation. In addition, the greatest number of sensitive Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs) appeared in the rhizosphere when S. viridis was in response to the invasion of I. xanthiifolia. It can be seen that A. tricolor and S. viridis have different mechanisms in response to the invasion of I. xanthiifolia. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the pre-existing immunity against SARS-CoV-2 has been postulated as one possible cause of asymptomatic infections. Later, various works reported that pre-existing immune response against the two structural conserved antigens: S2 subunit and the nucleocapsid protein, were associated to some level of asymptomatic profile in infected individuals. To explore the Ab background against these two antigens, in the context of vaccine-elicited and hybrid (natural infection plus vaccination induced) immunity of SARS-CoV-2, in this work, we tested sera from inactivated vaccine-immunized donors and from vaccinated and subsequent natural infected donors upon the Omicron variant wave in Guangdong province, China. Serum samples were collected from 27 COVID-19 convalescent, 25 SARS-CoV-2 vaccinated, and 10 negative donors. The IgG cross-reactivity response against these two antigens from another relevant human coronavirus (HCoV) was also evaluated. The findings indicate that IgG response against S2 and N protein was particularly higher in sera with hybrid immunity. The cross-reactive Abs were more significant against SARS-CoV-1, while a wide cross-reactivity was detected for N antigen for one human Alpha coronavirus HCoV-229E even in the negative control samples. The presence of cross-reactive Abs against the two conserved antigens N and S2, particularly in the context of hybrid immunity, could pave the way for future boosted vaccines carrying these conserved regions. Green supply chain management (GSCM) is an integrated environmental management tool for green transformation of the manufacturing industry and has remarkable potential to support China's target of carbon neutrality by 2060. To understand the development path of GSCM and the subsequent impacts in China, the systematic literature review, analysis and comparison method is applied. The management institution involves eight governmental departments. The policy system includes 7 National Laws, 2 Regulations of the State Council, and 100 Documents of the State Council, Ministries, and Commissions. The review compares the relevant policies of China, the USA, the EU, and Japan, which reveals that management system of multi-departmental collaboration leads to the avoidance and transfer of responsibility. We also find that the existing relevant legal system need to be improved, especially in terms of tax subsidy, incentive mechanism, environmental information disclosure and the range of industries involved. Corresponding suggestions are put forward in response to these identified problems. The overall picture of GSCM in China could serve as a useful reference for other developing countries. Urban population size dynamic adjustment has been widely studied for a long time; however, the dynamic adjustment at the urban hierarchy level remains unknown. This study utilises China's urban population data to investigate the dynamic adjustment. Specifically, we utilise methods of the Gini coefficient, linear regression, and coefficients of Spearman, and Moran's I to explore the dynamic adjustment tendency, adjustment rate and correlation of urban population size distribution of different urban hierarchies and groups of different urban hierarchies. We find that the urban population size spatial distribution is gradually even within the same urban hierarchy. The adjustment rate to be even of Megacity II is the highest, and Megacity I is the bottom. We also find the population size spatial distribution of the whole urban system is gradually uneven. We explore the dynamic process by sorting urban hierarchies into six groups. Furthermore, we find there is a complex correlation between different urban hierarchies and global spatial correlation among China cities. These results are valuable as references for Chinese policy-makers and practitioners and will enable them to adopt sustainable land use and urban population management measures. In China, patients usually determine their medical specialty before they register the corresponding specialists in the hospitals. This process usually requires a lot of medical knowledge for the patients. As a result, many patients do not register the correct specialty for the first time if they do not receive help from the hospitals. In this study, we try to automatically direct the patients to the appropriate specialty based on the symptoms they described. As far as we know, this is the first study to solve the problem. We propose a neural network-based model based on a hybrid model integrated with an attention mechanism. To prove the actual effect of this hybrid model, we utilized a data set of more than 40,000 items, including eight departments, such as Otorhinolaryngology, Pediatrics, and other common departments. The experiment results show that the hybrid model achieves more than 93.5% accuracy and has a high generalization capacity, which is superior to traditional classification models. Chuanxiong (CX, Ligusticum chuanxiong), Japanese Chuanxiong (JCX, Cnidium officinale), Fuxiong (FX, Ligusticum sinense 'Fuxiong'), and Jinxiong (JX, Ligusticum sinense 'Jinxiong') are aromatic herbs used in China, Japan, and other regions. Their morphology and aromatic odor are similar, resulting in confused and mixed uses. This study compares the volatile compositions of these herbs for defining their medical uses. Headspace solid-phase microextraction–gas chromatography–triple quadrupole–mass spectrometry was employed to separate, identify, and quantify the compounds in the volatile gas of the four herbs. A total of 128 volatile compounds were identified and quantified in 23 these herbal samples. The sums of 106, 115, 116, and 120 compounds were detected in the volatile gas of CX, JCX, FX, and JX, with the mean contents of 4.80, 7.12, 7.67, and 12.0 μg/g, respectively. Types and contents of the main compounds were found to be different in the volatile gas of these herbs. The orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis and hierarchical clustering analysis showed the four herbs located in different confined areas or clusters. It is concluded that the volatile compositions in the four herbs are generally similar, but the contents of main volatile compounds are different. Tumor-educated platelets (TEPs) have been widely reported to have promising application potential; nonetheless, platelet isolation from peripheral blood is an important but neglected step in TEPs research for platelet-based liquid biopsy. In this article, we discussed some common influence factors for platelet isolation. To investigate the factors involved in platelet isolation, a prospective multicenter study was conducted on healthy Han Chinese adults (18 to 79 years of age). A total of 208 individuals were included in the final statistical analysis out of the 226 healthy volunteers who were prospectively enrolled from four hospitals. The primary study metric was the platelet recovery rate (PRR). The similar pattern was observed in the four hospitals, The PRR at room temperature (23°C±2°C) was slightly higher than the PRR at cold temperature (4°C±2°C). Moreover, the PRR gradually decreased as the storage time increased. The PRR for samples within 2 hours of storage is significantly higher than for samples beyond 2 hours (p <.05). Additionally, PRR was also affected by the equipment used in different centers. This study confirmed several factors that influence platelet isolation. In our study, we indicated that platelet isolation should be performed within two hours of peripheral blood draw and held at room temperature until isolation, and that centrifuge models should be fixed during the extraction process, which will further improve the research progress of platelet-based liquid biopsy in cancer. Background: Nurse managers play a pivotal role in quality patient care and staff satisfaction and retention. An overwhelming amount of work tasks and responsibilities might result in their sleep problems which are expected to aggravate in the context of the COVID-19, thereby affecting their overall health and work quality. However, little attention has been paid to sleep quality among nurse managers. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of sleep disorders among nurse managers and identify related factors of sleep quality during regular prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Methods: This cross-sectional online survey was conducted in 14 hospitals on a sample of 327 nurse managers in China. Participants were invited to complete the general demographic questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ). Multiple linear regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of sleep quality among nurse managers. Results: In this study, 43.7% of nurse managers suffered from sleep disorders. Active coping style and frequent exercise were positive factors that could influence nurse managers' sleep quality, while passive coping style and age over 41 years old were negative predictors, collectively accounting for 52.0% of the variance of sleep quality. Conclusions: The issue of sleep disorders among nurse managers during regular epidemic prevention and control period is underscored. Coping style and demographic factors including age and frequency of exercise can significantly affect nurse managers' sleep quality. Healthcare administrators should pay more attention to nurse managers' sleep disorders and implement targeted strategies based on influencing factors to ensure their sleep quality. Temporal constraints on the closure of the eastern segment of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean along the northern margin of the North China Craton (NCC) remain unclear. As a part of the NCC, the sedimentation and tectonic evolution of the Late Palaeozoic Ordos Basin were closely related to the opening and closing of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean. We use petrology, quantitative mineralogical analysis, U–Pb geochronology and trace element signatures of detrital zircons of the Lower Shihezi Formation from two sections in the eastern north Ordos Basin and two sections in the western north Ordos Basin to reconstruct the sedimentary provenance and tectonic background of the northern Ordos Basin. The results show that the sediments of the western sections were mainly derived from the Yinshan orogenic belt and Alxa block, and that those in the eastern sections only came from the Yinshan orogenic belt. The trace element ratios in detrital zircons from the Late Palaeozoic sandstones indicate that the source areas were mainly subduction-related continental arcs, closely related to the continued subduction of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean in the Late Palaeozoic. Since the main Late Palaeozoic magmatic periods vary on the east and west sides of the northern margin of the Ordos Basin, two main collisions related to Palaeo-Asian Ocean closure are recorded. The collision on the west side occurred significantly earlier than that in the east. This study implies that the Palaeo-Asian Ocean began to subduct beneath the NCC in the Carboniferous and gradually closed from west to east thereafter. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Long-term prophylactic therapy is considered the standard of care for hemophilia A patients. This study models the long-term clinical and cost outcomes of two factor VIII (FVIII) products using a pharmacokinetic (PK) simulation model in a Chinese population.Methods: Head-to-head PK profile data of BAY 81-8973 (KOVALTRY®) and antihemophilic factor (recombinant) plasma/albumin-free method (rAHF-PFM, ADVATE®) were applied to a two-state (alive and dead) Markov model to simulate blood FVIII concentrations at a steady state in prophylactically-treated patients with hemophilia A. Worsening of the Pettersson score was simulated and decline was associated with the probability of having orthopaedic surgery. The only difference between the compounds was FVIII concentration at a given time; each subject was treated with 25 IU/kg every 3 days. The model used a lifetime horizon, with cycle lengths of 1 year.Results: Cumulative bleeding events, joint bleeding events, and major bleeding events were reduced by 19.3% for BAY 81-8973 compared to rAHF-PFM. Hospitalizations and hospitalization days were also reduced by 19.3% for BAY 81-8973 compared to rAHF-PFM. BAY 81-8973 resulted in both cost savings and a gain in quality adjusted life years (QALYs) compared to rAHF-PFM.Conclusion: Based on modeled head-to-head comparisons, differences in PK-properties between BAY 81-8973 and rAHF-PFM result in a reduced number of bleeding events, leading to reduced costs and increased quality of life for BAY 81-8973. A robust empirical literature suggests that the development of one's political ideology is the product of an "elective affinity" between the discursive, socially constructed elements of ideological belief systems and the psychological constraints, motives, and interests of those who are drawn to those belief systems. However, most studies which support this elective affinity theory have been conducted in the West. In the present study, we tested the theory in China to see whether elective affinities between psychological traits and political ideology are more likely to be universal. Across a nationally representative sample (N = 509), we found initial support for the characterization of the left‐right divide in China, albeit in reverse. Namely, the "liberal Right in China mostly evinces traits of the psychological Left in the West (e.g., lower intolerance of ambiguity), while the "conservative Left" mostly evinces traits of the psychological right in the West (e.g., higher system justification). Epistemic motives were most reliably related to political ideology, while existential and relational motives were more mixed; economic and political aspects of ideology were more closely linked to psychological traits than social/cultural aspects. Simple Summary: Goose meat is recognized as one of the healthiest foods. Goose capons are specially bred and consumed in several parts of China for their high-quality meat. However, the effects of caponization on goose growth and carcass traits have remained uninvestigated, and its molecular mechanisms remain unclear. In this research, caponization lowered testosterone and increased the total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations in serum. Caponization increased live weights by promoting food intake and abdominal fat deposition, and improved meat quality by increasing intermuscular fat. Changes in the expression of these genes indicate that caponization increases the live weight mainly by increasing fat deposition rather than muscle growth. These results expand our understanding of the mechanisms of caponization on growth performance and fat deposition in ganders. In this study, we determined the effects of caponization on the growth performance and carcass traits of Yangzhou ganders. Fifty sham operated geese (the control group) and 80 caponized geese (the caponized group) were selected at 150 days of age and reared until 240 days of age. At 210 days of age, 30 geese from the caponized group were selected and fed with testosterone propionate (testosterone group). The results showed that caponization lowered testosterone and increased the total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations in serum, live weights, average 15 day gains, and feed intake. Abdominal fat and intramuscular fat were significantly higher in the caponized geese than in the control at 240 days. Gene expression analysis showed that caponization promoted abdominal fat deposition and intermuscular fat content by upregulating the expression of adipogenic genes in the liver, adipose tissue, and muscle tissue. The high expression of SOCS3 in the hypothalamus, liver, and muscle of caponized geese suggests that caponization may lead to negative feedback regulation and leptin resistance. Changes in the expression of these genes, along with the downregulation of PAX3 in the breast muscle and MYOG in the leg muscles, indicate that caponization increases the live weight mainly by increasing fat deposition rather than muscle growth. Background: Strong evidence has linked overweight and obesity to increased risks of cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality in Chinese populations. Menopause is considered associated with increased obesity and central body fat distribution. However, the correlation between obesity and menopausal symptoms has not been well studied. Objective: To examine the associations between obesity or abdominal obesity and menopausal symptoms as women progressed from premenopausal to postmenopausal status. Design: This study included 430 midlife Chinese women who had experienced natural menopause and were followed up for 10 years. Physical examinations and questionnaires should be completed annually. The questionnaires include the Menopause-Specific Quality of Life questionnaire, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and other physical and behavioral factors. Results: Among women who were not obese (n=345) or not abdominal obese (n=372) at baseline, 5.8% and 31.7% became obese or abdominal obese at the recent follow-up visit, respectively. Women at the recent follow-up visit had an increased body mass index (BMI) by 0.14%, and the waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) increased by 5.2% compared with the data at baseline. In multivariate analysis, more frequent hot flashes, moderate/severe bothered vasomotor symptoms (VMS), mild bothered sexual functioning, and less anxiety symptoms were significantly associated with obesity. Increasing age, moderate/severe bothered VMS, and less anxiety symptoms were independently associated with abdominal obesity. Multivariable analysis also showed that less education level is independently associated with both obesity and abdominal obesity. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the proportion of obesity and abdominal obesity increased gradually during menopause. The increase of abdominal obesity is more rapidly than obesity in middle-aged women. Both obesity and abdominal obesity are related with severe or frequent VMS and anxiety symptoms in Chinese women. Hepatocellular carcinoma is the third most common cause of cancer-related deaths in China and immune-based therapy can improve patient outcomes. In this study, we investigated the relationship between immunity-associated genes and hepatocellular carcinoma from the prognostic perspective. The data downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma (TCGA-LIHC) and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) was screened for gene mutation frequency using the maftools package. Immunity-associated eight-gene signature with strong prognostic ability was constructed and proved as an independent predictor of the patient outcome in LIHC. Seven genes in the immune-related eight-gene signature were strongly associated with the infiltration of M0 macrophages, resting mast cells, and regulatory T cells. Our research may provide clinicians with a quantitative method to predict the prognosis of patients with liver cancer, which can assist in the selection of the optimal treatment plan. Owing to rapid socio-economic development in China, trace metal emissions have increased and lakes even in remote areas have experienced marked changes in the last century. However, there are limited studies revealing long-term trends, anthropogenic fluxes, and spatial characteristics of trace metals in lakes. In this study, we present a geochemical record from Lake Qinghai in the northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and reconstruct trace metal pollution history during the last two centuries. The lacustrine sediment core was dated by 137Cs and 210Pb, and sediments deposited prior to the 1850s were selected as the pre-industrial background. Factor analysis and enrichment factor indicated Cr, Cu, and Ni generally originated from natural sources, while Cd, Pb, and Zn have been influenced by human contamination since the mid-1980s. The anthropogenic Cd mainly derived from non-ferrous metal smelting in Gansu Province, and fluxes to Lake Qinghai sharply increased after the mid-1980s. The metal reconstruction is similar to other lake sediment records from China and corresponds well with rapid economic development in China. The spatial pattern of anthropogenic Cd fluxes to lakes is primarily attributed to regional industrial emission, phosphate fertilizers, and manure applied in agriculture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective To investigate the utility of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT) in assessing disease activity in Takayasu arteritis (TA). Methods Ninety-one patients with TA were recruited from a Chinese cohort. Clinical data, acute-phase reactants and 18F-FDG-PET/CT findings were simultaneously recorded. The value of using 18F-FDG-PET/CT to identify active disease was evaluated, using ESR as a reference. Disease activity assessment models were constructed and concordance index (C-index), net reclassification index (NRI), and integrated discrimination index (IDI) were evaluated to compare the benefits of the new modes with ESR and the Kerr score. Results In total, 64 (70.3%) cases showed active disease. Higher levels of ESR and CRP, and lower IL-2 receptor (IL-2R) levels were observed in active cases. 18F-FDG-PET/CT parameters measured by determining the standard uptake value (SUV), including SUVmean, SUVratio1, SUVratio2, sum of SUVmean and sum of SUVmax, were significantly higher in active disease groups. The C-index threshold of ESR to indicate active disease was 0.78 (95% CI: 0.69, 0.88). The new activity assessment model combining ESR, sum of SUVmean and IL-2R showed significant improvement in C-index over the ESR method (0.96 vs 0.78, P   <  0.01; NRI 1.63, P   <  0.01; and IDI 0.48, P   <  0.01). The new model also demonstrated modest superiority to the Kerr score assessment (0.96 vs 0.87, P   =  0.03; NRI 1.19, P   <  0.01; and IDI 0.33, P   <  0.01). Conclusions A novel 18F-FDG-PET/CT-based method that involves combining the sum of SUVmean with ESR score and IL-2R levels demonstrated superiority in identifying active TA compared with conventional methods. Soil salinization is a major environmental problem that seriously threatens the sustainable development of regional ecosystems and local economies. Fraxinus velutina Torr. is an excellent salt-tolerant tree species, which is widely planted in the saline-alkaline soils in China. A growing body of evidence shows that microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in the defense response of plants to salt stress; however, how miRNAs in F. velutina exert anti-salt stress remains unclear. We previously identified two contrasting F. velutina cuttings clones, salt-tolerant (R7) and salt-sensitive (S4) and found that R7 exhibits higher salt tolerance than S4. To identify salt-responsive miRNAs and their target genes, the leaves and roots of R7 and S4 exposed to salt stress were subjected to miRNA and degradome sequencing analysis. The results showed that compared with S4, R7 showed 89 and 138 differentially expressed miRNAs in leaves and roots, respectively. Specifically, in R7 leaves, miR164d, miR171b/c, miR396a, and miR160g targeting NAC1 , SCL22 , GRF1 , and ARF18 , respectively, were involved in salt tolerance. In R7 roots, miR396a, miR156a/b, miR8175, miR319a/d, and miR393a targeting TGA2.3 , SBP14 , GR-RBP , TCP2/4 , and TIR1 , respectively, participated in salt stress responses. Taken together, the findings presented here revealed the key regulatory network of miRNAs in R7 responding to salt stress, thereby providing new insights into improving salt tolerance of F. velutina through miRNA manipulation. Osmanthus fragrans (Thunb.) Lour. flowers are important natural resource of phenolic compounds, which have antioxidant activities and have been consumed as functional food and dietary supplements for thousand years. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrochemical detection (UPLC-ECD) was developed to simultaneously analyze the eight phenolic compounds in Osmanthus fragrans flowers collected from different regions across China. The UPLC-ECD fingerprint was established for identification and comprehensive quality control. The antioxidant capacities of Osmanthus fragrans flowers were evaluated, and results were compared with those spectrophotometric antioxidant methods. A highly positive relationship was confirmed between the total peak area of characteristic components in chromatogram and the antioxidant potential determined by spectrophotometry with correlation coefficient greater than 0.80 (p <.01). Grey relational analysis showed that acteoside had the highest degree of correlation with antioxidant capacity. These results provided evidence to support the use of UPLC-ECD as a simple, rapid, and reliable method for electroactive phenolic component determination and antioxidant capacity quantification in vitro system. Objective. This study is aimed at analyzing the relationship between leptin (LEP) signaling pathway and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and at providing support for molecular genetic research on the pathogenesis of T2DM in Chinese Han population. Methods. A case-control study was designed, including 1092 cases with T2DM and 1092 healthy controls of Chinese Han origin recruited from ten hospitals in Guangdong Province, Southern China. Twenty-three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of 15 genes in LEP signaling pathway were genotyped by SNPscan™ kit. The Pearson chi-square test, Cochran-Armitage trend test, MAX3, and logistic regression were applied to analyze the association between single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and T2DM; unconditional logistic regression was used to analyze haplotype in LD block; and SNP set analysis based on logistic kernel machine regression was used to analyze pathway. All statistical analysis was performed by SPSS25.0, R2.14, Haploview4.2, SNPStats, and other statistical software packages. Results. In association analysis based on SNP, rs2167270 had statistical significance both in the adjusted and unadjusted covariate dominant model and in the unadjusted covariate overdominant model while it had no significant difference in the adjusted covariate overdominant model. Compared to GG genotype, rs2167270 of AG genotype had statistical significance in both the adjusted and unadjusted covariate codominant models. And rs16147 had statistical significance in robust test, stealth model and overdominant model, and adjusting and unadjusting covariate. This study found linkage disequilibrium existed between rs2167270 and rs4731426 of LEP, rs10889502 and rs17127107 of JAK1, rs2970847 and rs6821591 of PPARGC1A, rs249429 and rs3805486 of PRKAA1, rs1342382 and rs6588640 of PRKAA2, rs3766522 and rs6937 of PRKAB2, rs2970847 and rs6821591 of PRKAG2, and rs6436094 and rs645163 of PRKAG3. There was no positive finding with statistical significance from the unconditional logistic regression of the mentioned genes' haplotype of LD block. Conclusions. There are widespread Mesozoic-Cenozoic terrestrial volcanic activities in East China, and they produced favorable geologic factors for the volcanic reservoirs. To reveal the spatio-temporal evolution of regional volcanisms and their tectonic setting, we subdivide Mesozoic-Cenozoic volcanic activities into 6 volcanic cycles (I-VI), and summarize the temporal-spatial distribution, rock association and tectonic setting of each cycle. The Cycle I forms a post-orogenic intraplate bimodal volcanic association. The cycles II and III include arc volcanic associations formed in compressional and extensional subduction environments, respectively. The Cycle IV contains a post-orogenic arc bimodal association. The Cycle V is a basaltic association of tholeiite series under initial rift setting, and the Cycle VI is basaltic association of alkaline series under typical rift setting. The volcanic strata between each cycle are bounded by regional unconformity. The above 6 volcanic cycles correspond to 6 sequential stages of tectonic evolutions from the Early Jurassic post-orogeny, the Mid-Jurassic-Cretaceous subduction of the paleo-Pacific Plate to the Cenozoic marginal rifting. According to the geological characteristics of volcanic reservoirs in different volcanic cycles, it is put forward that the Cycle V is the major formation period of volcanic reservoirs in East China and should be the focus of exploration, and that the volcanic reservoirs of the Cycle IV are also worthy of attention. The widespread occurrence of late Mesozoic volcanic rocks in SE China is associated with widespread mineralization. Most geologists have accepted the model of Pacific plate subduction beneath the eastern Asian continent, but there are still controversies, especially the initial timing of the tectonic transition. In order to understand the tectonic evolution of the palaeo-Pacific plate subduction, an integrated study of zircon U–Pb, Lu–Hf isotope compositions and whole-rock geochemistry was carried out for Mesozoic volcanic rocks in eastern Fujian Province. According to the field observations and zircon U–Pb ages, these volcanic rocks can be divided into three phases: an early stage of Late Jurassic volcanic rocks (Phase 1, 159–153 Ma), a late stage of Late Jurassic volcanic rocks (Phase 2, 152–146 Ma) and an early stage of Early Cretaceous volcanic rocks (Phase 3, 143–139 Ma). Overall, these volcanic rocks are composed of intermediate–acid pyroclastic rocks and lava, with high SiO2, Na2O, K2O and Al2O3 contents, belonging to the high-K calc-alkaline and peraluminous series, with enrichment in large ion lithophile and light rare earth elements but depletion in high-field-strength elements and heavy rare earth elements. However, the Phase 1 and 2 volcanic rocks contain different zircon Hf isotopic compositions and whole-rock geochemistry to the Phase 3 volcanic rocks, implying that they have a different petrogenesis. Our study combined with previous research shows that the decreasing zircon ϵHf(t) values of the Middle–Late Jurassic volcanic rocks indicate a decreasing mantle-derived material contribution. On the contrary, the majority of the Early Cretaceous volcanic rocks have variable ϵHf(t) values, requiring varied degrees of involvement of juvenile components in their origin. Thus, we consider that the Late Jurassic volcanic rocks were generated in a compressional tectonic environment during the early stage (> 146 Ma) of palaeo-Pacific subduction. Objective: To determine the risk factors of the occurrence of nonsyndromic cleft lip and/or cleft palate (NSCL/P) in Xinjiang Province, China. Design: The study included 359 patients of NSCL/P and 310 controls. Information about sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle behaviors, negative life events, possible environmental hazards exposures, and use of supplementations were collected from cases and controls. Both t test and χ2 tests were used for group comparisons. Multivariable logistic regression was used to estimate the independent associations between environmental risk factors and the presence of NSCL/P. The receiver operating characteristic curve was used to establish the predictive variables for the occurrence of NSCL/P. Results: The results showed that maternal pesticide exposure (odds ratio [OR] = 11.40, 95%CI: 5.40-24.10), antibiotic drugs use (OR = 1.32, 95%CI: 1.14-1.53), paternal smoking (OR = 3.30, 95%CI: 1.87-5.83), threatened abortion (OR = 12.2, 95%CI: 3.29-45.25) were associated with increased risk of NSCL/P in offspring. In contrast, maternal moderate (OR = 0.43, 95%CI: 0.20-0.92) and middle physical workload (OR = 0.48, 95%CI: 0.0.23-0.97), vitamin-B complex supplementations (OR = 0.11, 95%CI: 0.03-0.41), calcium and iron (OR = 0.27, 95%CI: 0.08-0.90) supplementations were associated with reduced risk of NSCL/P in offspring. These variables together explain nearly 60% of the variation of occurrence of NSCL/P. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in four kinds of fermented soybean-related products used as traditional Chinese food: fermented soybean (FS), fermented qianzhang (FQ), fermented bean curd (FB) and fermented okara (FO). A total of 203 samples, comprising FS (40 samples), FQ (60), FB (41) and FO (62), were collected from free markets of agricultural food, convenience stores and supermarkets in Hubei province, China from November 2021 to January 2022. The AFB1 contamination in samples was assessed using a validated enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method. Ninety-eight samples (48.3%) were AFB1-positive with a concentration range of 0.36–11.26 μg/kg and a mean value of 2.2 μg/kg. Among the four kinds of products, only FS was found to have some samples (n = 13) with AFB1 levels exceeding China's legal limit of 5 μg/kg and it had the highest AFB1-positive percentage (97.5%). Moreover, the mean content of AFB1 in the FS samples was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than those in the other three kinds of samples. Therefore, feasible measures are needed to continually monitor and strictly prevent the production of AFB1 in these products, especially FS, to reduce the health risk to consumers of AFB1 exposure. • The positive rate of AFB1 in samples was 48.3%. • In 6.4% of samples, AFB1 content exceeded China's legal limit of 5 μg/kg. • Only fermented soybeans contained AFB1 at levels exceeding China's legal limit. • Fermented soybean had the highest AFB1-positive percentage of 97.5%. We studied the arid shrub Amygdalus pedunculata to better understand biogeographic histories and the impact of climate fluctuations during the Quaternary in shaping genetic variation and in northwest China. Three chloroplast DNA intergenic spacers (psbK‐psbI, trnL‐trnF and trnV) were sequenced in 129 individuals from 10 populations across the range of A. pedunculata, and 17 haplotypes were identified, with one haplotype that was distributed across all sampled populations. High levels of total gene diversity (HT = 0.965) and within‐population diversity (HS = 0.669) were identified. Analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) indicated that most genetic variation occurred within populations. Neutrality tests and mismatch distribution analysis suggested past range expansions of A. pedunculata. As such, A. pedunculata has likely undergone a substantial postglacial range expansion northward and southward along the margins of the northern Yin Mountains and Mu Us Desert, respectively. Principal coordinate analyses, median‐joining network analysis and Beast analysis revealed that 17 haplotypes mainly formed three clusters, corresponding to the Northern (Damao Banner) and Central (Wula Mountains and Guyang County) regions of Inner Mongolia and the Southern region (Bulang Township) in northern Shannxi. The local adaptative differentiation is speculated to have occurred among the three regions mainly resulting from geographical isolation caused by the uplift and extension of the Yinshan Mountains during the Quaternary. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of brown carbon (BrC) in various fields, particularly relating to climate change. The incomplete combustion of biomass in open and contained burning conditions is believed to be a significant contributor to primary BrC emissions. So far, few studies have reported the emission factors of BrC from biomass burning, and few studies have specifically addressed which form of light-absorbing carbon, such as black carbon (BC) or BrC, plays a leading role in the total solar light absorption by biomass burning. In this study, the optical integrating sphere (IS) approach was used, with carbon black and humic acid sodium salt as reference materials for BC and BrC, respectively, to distinguish BrC from BC on filter samples. A total of 11 widely used biomass types in China were burned in a typical stove to simulate the real household combustion process. (i) Large differences existed in the emission factors of BrC (EF BrC) among the tested biomass fuels, with a geometric mean EF BrC of 0.71 g kg -1 (0.24–2.09). Both the plant type (herbaceous or ligneous) and burning style (raw or briquetted biomass) might influence the value of EF BrC. The observed reduction in the emissions of light-absorbing carbon (LAC) confirmed an additional benefit of biomass briquetting in climate change mitigation. (ii) The calculated annual BrC emissions from China's household biomass burning amounted to 712 Gg, higher than the contribution from China's household coal combustion (592 Gg). (iii) The average absorption Ångström exponent (AAE) was (2.46±0.53), much higher than that of coal-chunk combustion smoke (AAE=1.30±0.32). (iv) For biomass smoke, the contribution of absorption by BrC to the total absorption by BC+BrC across the strongest solar spectral range of 350–850 nm (FBrC) was 50.8 %. This is nearly twice that for BrC in smoke from household coal combustion (26.5 %). (v) Based on this study, a novel algorithm was developed for estimating the FBrC for perhaps any combustion source (FBrC=0.5519ln⁡AAE+0.0067 , R2=0.999); the FBrC value for all global biomass burning (open+contained) (FBrC-entire) was 64.5 % (58.5 %–69.9 %). This corroborates the dominant role of BrC in total biomass burning absorption. The diagnosis and management of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures are challenging in rural and underdeveloped areas of China because medical resources are inaccessible; thus, a simple and accurate method is essential for the detection of vertebral fractures. We aimed to examine the relationship between historical height loss (HHL) and vertebral fractures in postmenopausal Chinese women. A cross-sectional study of 255 postmenopausal women aged 50 years or older was conducted in September 2017. Demographic data, including self-reported tallest historical height and current height were analyzed. Vertebral fractures were assessed using X-ray radiography and HHL thresholds were examined using specificity and sensitivity testing. The average age of the 255 participants was 66.3 ± 9.0 years and their mean HHL was 3.5 ± 2.8 cm. The 24 women who were found to have vertebral fractures were older, had more years since menopause (YSM), and a larger HHL compared to those without vertebral fractures. Logistic regression analysis showed that age was a better predictor of vertebral fractures than HHL was, and the cutoff age for detecting vertebral fractures was 71 years, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.750. Although the women in this study with vertebral fractures had a greater height loss than those without fractures, it was apparent that age, rather than HHL, is the best way to determine who is most likely to develop vertebral fractures. Context: During the menopausal transition, there is a greater likelihood of the prevalence of various bothersome symptoms, including vasomotor symptoms (VMS) and mood symptoms.Objective: To investigate the association among bothersome VMS and symptoms of anxiety and depression in Chinese women during perimenopause and early in menopause.Design, Patients, Setting, and Interventions: This study included 430 midlife Chinese women who had experienced natural menopause and were followed up for 10 years. A structured questionnaire was provided annually, comprising the VMS Bother Score (range 1-8) from the Menopause-Specific Quality of Life questionnaire, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and other physical and behavioral factors.Results: Among the 430 women evaluated, 78.8% had experienced VMS during long-term follow-up. The overall level of VMS bother score was relatively low (1.92 ± 1.32). Both anxiety and depressive symptoms were significantly associated with VMS bother. After adjusting for potential covariates, the association between anxiety or depression symptoms and VMS bother remained highly significant. Menopausal stage, body mass index, general health, follicle-stimulating hormone, and estradiol were independent contributors to VMS. In time-lagged (1-year) models, VMS bother scores significantly predicted the risk of symptoms of both anxiety and depression the following year. In contrast, anxiety symptoms, rather than depressive symptoms, could predict VMS bother the following year.Conclusion: The prevalence of VMS in our cohort was higher than has been previously reported; however, the overall level of bother was relatively low. Balantioides coli (syn. Balantidium coli) is an important zoonotic but usually neglected protozoa infecting human and a great number of animals, and the pig was considered to be the most important natural host and reservoir. However, no information about the infection of B. coli in pigs in northwestern China was available. In the present study, the prevalence and genetic diversity of B. coli in pigs in Shaanxi province were investigated. A total of 560 fecal samples were collected from pigs of four age groups in five different geographical regions and analyzed by using PCR targeting the ITS1-5.8S rRNA-ITS2 gene fragment. The infection of B. coli was detected in all age groups and regions, with the total prevalence of 16.8% (94/560). Significant differences (P < 0.01) in prevalence were found among four investigated age groups, with the highest in fatteners (38.8%) and the lowest in adults (5.7%). The prevalence was also significantly (P < 0.01) different among pigs from five sampling regions. Sequence analysis revealed two genetic variants, namely, A and B, in these investigated pigs, and both of them were detected in all age groups and regions, with the latter as the predominant one. Further, sixty-eight different haplotypes were found, with 19 and 49 belonged to genetic variants A and B, respectively. The findings in the present study indicated wide distribution and high diversity of B. coli in pigs in Shaanxi province and provided fundamental data for implementing control strategies on B. coli infection in pigs as well as other hosts in this province. Objective The 3D motion capture system was used to measure the upper limb bradykinesia in Parkinson's disease (PD) to make up for the lack of artificial measurement. Methods Ninteen patients with PD (PD group) and 10 healthy subjects (control group) were recruited from June to December 2019 in Tianjin Huanhu Hospital. All the subjects completed the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale III (UPDRS-III) evaluation in the room equipped with 3D motion capture system. The thumb and index finger of the subjects were fixed with reflective markers to collect motion information. In this study, only the action of finger tapping was evaluated digitally, and five parameters were extracted from the evaluation results: 1) average maximum amplitude of finger taps (amp). 2) Average finger tapping interval (intval). 3) Average zero - crossing occurrences of acceleration (zc). 4) Average of the forward maximum velocity (v1). 5) Average of the negative maximum velocity (v2). Using receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) to evaluate the value of intval, zc and their combination indexes in the diagnosis of upper limb bradykinesia in PD. Results In PD group, UPDRS-III score was 33.79 ± 13.14, bradykinesia score was 13.61 ± 5.26, upper limb bradykinesia score was 6.61 ± 2.65, finger tapping score was 1.68 ± 0.78. Intval (P = 0.001) and zc (P = 0.004) in PD group were higher than those in control group, and the difference was statistically significant. The ROC curves of intval and zc for upper limb bradykinesia showed that the AUC of them were 0.858 (95% CI: 0.743-0.973, P = 0.000) and 0.799 (95% CI: 0.642-0.955, P = 0.008); the sensitivity was 0.737, 0.921, and the specificity was 0.900 and 0.600, respectively. After the combination of intval and zc, the AUC was 0.858 (95%CI: 0.752-0.964, P = 0.001), the sensitivity and specificity were 0.711 and 0.100, respectively. Conclusions The digital evaluation of upper limb bradykinesia in PD can be realized by using 3D motion capture system, which makes up for the deficiency of manual evaluation to a certain extent. Because people living with HIV (PLWH) are ageing, they will inevitably develop non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and the number of non-HIV medications will increase. Drug-drug interactions(DDIs) will become an ever-increasing issue. However, little is known about this important issue in Chinese PLWH. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of DDIs among PLWH in China. Chinese PLWH aged ≥18 years were enrolled prospectively from October 2018 to April 2019 and after informed consent was obtained, they were ask to fill out a questionnaire about comorbidity and co-medications. Potential DDIs were identified using the University of Liverpool HIV Drug Interaction Checker. A total of 1804 questionnaires were included. Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) that most frequently were prescribed were lamivudine (96.18%), efavirenz(64.64%) and tenofovir(60.62%). 16.96% of the participations reported current co-infection with HIV and14.69% reported NCDs. 263(14.57%) participations reported they had used co-medications in the past six months while 186(10.31%) reported they were taking co-medications. Age≥50 years (p < 0.001), living in developed areas(p < 0.001) and lower CD4 cell count(p = 0.045) were independently associated with the use of co-medications. Potential DDIs were identified in 54 (19.15%) persons using co-medications. Age≥50 [OR = 2.272(1.241–4.158)], PLWH with NCDs[OR = 2.889(1.509–5.532)] and usage of protease inhibitors[OR = 2.538(1.250–5.156)] were independently associated with the potential DDIs. The prevalence of the use of co-medications and potential DDIs among Chinese PLWH are low. Older age, NCDs and use of PIs were risk factors for the potential of developing DDIs. In China, many geological hazards occurred in remote mountainous regions, and it was time-consuming to disseminate disaster information for the responsible parties to make timely judgements. Besides, only relying on professionals to monitor and manage disasters was demanding and costly. The Chinese government created a system to engage residents in the process of disaster risk management, namely 'Public Participation Monitoring and Warning' (PPMW), to disseminate timely disaster information and bring down management costs. The objective of this system was to reduce casualties with minimum cost by organizing residents to evacuate from disasters in advance. This paper introduced the PPMW system, including its structure, operation mechanism by reviewing government documents and research articles, and its implementation by a case study of a landslide at Boli village (E 101°01′, N 27°29′), Yanyuan County, Sichuan Province, China on July 19th 2018. Further, this paper analyzed the strengths and limitations of the system and discussed its future development. Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for approximately 80% of diagnosed lung cancer patients. RAD52 has been reported to be associated with the development of squamous cell lung carcinoma. In this study, we assessed the relationships of RAD52 genetic polymorphisms and NSCLC risk among the Chinese population at high altitude. Methods: Eight single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of RAD52 were genotyped in the Agena MassARRAY platform among 506 NSCLC patients and 510 healthy controls. We examined the association of RAD52 polymorphisms with NSCLC risk using odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) via multiple genetic models. Results: The rs10774474 A allele was related to a decreased risk of NSCLC in a high altitude population of China (OR = 0.82, 95% CI = 0.69–0.98, p = 0.032), whereas mutant alleles of rs1051672, rs7310449, rs1051669, rs6413436, rs4766377 and rs10849605 significantly increased NSCLC risk. Haplotype analysis showed that four haplotypes of RAD52 polymorphisms conferred an enhanced susceptibility to NSCLC (Ars1051672Grs7310449Trs1051669Ars6413436: OR = 1.29, p = 0.021; Grs1051672Ars7310449Crs1051669Grs6413436: OR = 1.21, p = 0.027; Grs4766377Crs12822733Trs10774474Crs10849605: OR = 1.26, p = 0.032; Ars4766377Crs12822733Ars10774474Trs10849605: OR = 1.21, p = 0.032). With the increasing incidence of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), determining a rapid and accurate drug susceptibility testing (DST) method to identify ethambutol (EMB) resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis has become essential for patient management in China. Herein, we evaluated the correlation between three phenotypic DST methods, namely, proportion method (PM), MGIT 960 system, and microplate alamar Blue assay (MABA), and DNA sequencing of embAB in 118 M. tuberculosis isolates from China. When the results of the phenotypic DST methods were compared with those of DNA sequencing, the overall agreement and kappa values of the PM, MGIT 960 system, and MABA were 81.4% and 0.61, 77.1% and 0.55, and 84.7% and 0.67, respectively. The agreement for EMB resistance between MABA and PM was significantly higher than that between the MGIT 960 system and PM (P = 0.02). Moreover, among the isolates with detectable embAB mutations, 97.2% (70/72 isolates) harbored mutations in embB. The analysis of embB mutations predicted EMB resistance with 81.3% sensitivity, 86.8% specificity, and 83.1% accuracy. Thus, MABA may be a better phenotypic DST method for detecting EMB resistance. DNA sequencing of embB may be useful for the early identification of EMB resistance and the consequent optimization of the treatment regimen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Significant sedimentary and tectonic information is preserved in the geochemical characteristics of the Middle Triassic Zhifang Formation in the southern Ordos Basin, North China. In this paper, elemental geochemical analysis is performed for 12 mudstone and siltstone samples from the Zhifang Formation of the Liangzhai River–Liulinchuan section of Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province, with a major element analysis performed via X‐ray fluorescence spectrometry, trace element and rare earth element (REE) analyses performed via inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP‐MS). The palaeoenvironment and tectonic backgrounds of the study section are also studied by analyzing the elements and elemental ratios sensitive to palaeoenvironmental conditions. The geochemical proxies, including the concentrations of U, and ratios of Fe2O3/FeO, U/Th, V/(V + Ni), V/Cr, and Ni/Co indicate that the depositional environment of the Zhifang Formation was likely an oxic–dysoxic condition without strong lake‐water stratification. The oxic–dysoxic condition is interpreted as one of the key controlling factors for the poor development of source rocks in the Zhifang Formation, although this formation is dominated by black fine‐grained sediments. Because of the Qinling orogenic belt, the geochemical characteristics reflect a tectonic background of the provenance area that was an active continental margin related to the continental island arc.
