It is said that in a synergistic relationship between vegetation and soil moisture (SM), the latter may be consumed excessively, while at the same time improving the ecological environment, such as in the large-scale artificial vegetation planting areas on the Loess Plateau. At present, the possibility of vegetation restoration and its impact on the water ecology of the Loess Plateau have received extensive attention. In this study, piecewise linear regression (PLR) and nonparametric conditional quantile regression (NCQR) models have been innovatively applied to vegetation survey data and soil moisture data from 50 field samples to explore the trade-off relationship between soil moisture and various vegetation parameters (VPs) and the response of soil moisture to the vegetation. The results showed that precipitation and topography are significantly linearly related to soil moisture in the sampling plots. Affected by irrational planting, the soil moisture benefit at 20–40 cm is significant weaker than that at 0–20 cm (plot 4, 5, 26 and 44). Some sampling plots excessively consumed soil water to promote vegetation planting. Although there was stronger soil water infiltration by shrubs, it was noted that the vegetation planting plan in some grass plots and shrub-grass plots were unreasonable and needed to be adjusted due to the clear risk of a soil water deficit determined by the trade-off values (represented by the root mean square deviation), plant species, a multiparameter evaluation. With the increase in soil moisture in the sampling plots, the negative correlation between the trade-off (soil moisture and vegetation) and soil moisture was transformed into a positive correlation (the inflection point was 8.5–10%). In addition, the benefit of soil moisture gradually changed from "shortage" to "appropriateness" and even "excess" (the inflection point was 15–20%). The fitting results of the two models are optimal and show clear applicability for evaluating trade-off relationships. Among the VPs involved in the calculation, the Shannon–Wiener index (H), Margarlef index (D 1) and Fractional Vegetation Cover index (FVC) demonstrated better regional representation and stability. Objectives: Intrinsic capacity(IC), self-rated health (SRH), and hand grip strength (HGS) reflect the health status from different aspects. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between IC, SRH, SRH combined with HGS and all-cause mortality among Chinese older adults living in communities., Methods: This study used data from the 2011 (baseline), 2013, 2015, 2018, and 2020 waves of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). We evaluated IC, SRH, and HGS using questionnaires. We assessed baseline levels of IC, SRH, and SRH combined HGS. Using the COX proportional hazards model, we investigated the associations between baseline IC, SRH, and SRH combined HGS and all-cause mortality. We used receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC) curves to compare the predictive effects of IC, SRH, and SRH combined HGS on all-cause mortality among Chinese older adults living in communities., Results: At baseline (2011), the study included a total of 4095 participants. The multifactorial Cox regression analysis results showed that older adults had a much higher risk of death from any cause compared to those who said they were in good health and had a normal hand grip strength, those who said they were in fair health and had a low hand grip strength [HR = 3.959, 95 % CI (2.892-5.421)], those who said they were in bad health and had a normal hand grip strength [HR = 3.150, 95 % CI (2.392-4.148)], and those who said they were in bad health and had a low hand grip strength [HR = 4.189, 95 % CI (3.123-5.618)]. The study looked at older adults who lived in the community. In China, unhealthy lifestyles, including smoking, alcohol consumption, a lack of exercise, and irrational diets, are relatively common among the elderly population. The objective of this study was to examine the specific associations between poor health-related behaviours and all-cause and cause-specific mortality in older adults. This study involved 5,015 subjects ≥ 60 years of age from the CHARLS database over a 10-year follow-up period. The average age was (67.96 ± 6.39) years. We examined whether lifestyle groups, based on adherence to non-smoking, no-alcohol, moderate exercise, and 18.5 kg/m 2  ≤ BMI< 24 kg/m 2 , were linked with subsequent mortality. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence intervals for all-cause and cause-specific mortality of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In multivariate adjustment model, the risk of all-cause mortality was reduced by 59.2% [HR 0.408 (95% CI 0.333, 0.499)] in the moderate group compared with the unfavorable group. In addition, the risk of all-cause mortality was reduced to 80.5% [HR 0.195 (95% CI 0.150, 0.253)] in the favorable group. The risks of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, chronic respiratory disease, cancers, and diabetes increased with similar dose-response patterns. The combination of all four healthy lifestyles provided the greatest protection, reducing mortality by 84.5%. Ecosystem services (ESs) have been affected drastically by rapid urban sprawl and significant land-use changes (LUC) in Nansi Lake Basin (NLB) in China. Based on land-use data with a 30-m resolution from 1990 to 2015, we analyzed the process of LUC by atlas analysis and explored the impacts of LUC on ecological service value (ESV) under urban sprawl. The results showed that water area and buildup land increased significantly from 1990 to 2015. The area of cultivated land, forests, grassland, and unutilized land decreased. Land transfer mainly occurred between cultivated land, water area, and grassland. The total amount of land transfer was 4830.64 km 2 , and the average transfer rate is 185.79 km 2 /year in 26 years. The most obvious transfer occurred in period IV. The increased buildup land was mainly transferred from cultivated land. The total urban sprawl in the NLB was 1623.37 km 2 in the past 26 years, with an average expansion rate of 62.44 km 2 /year, with the fastest sprawl in period IV. Tengzhou city was the most prominent area of expansion. Its ESV increased by 5.73 × 10 7 US$ with an increased rate of 2.21 × 10 6 US$/year. The annual total value of regulating and supporting services in the first-level ESs in the NLB accounted for 54.8 and 25.2% of the total ESV in all years, which were the primary types of ESs. Water area, forests, and cultivated land were the principal contributors to ESV changes. In conclusion, urban sprawl had a significant negative effect on ESV changes. Urban sprawl, water area, forests, and cultivated land were all sensitive factors for ESV changes.
