With a shift to more automation technology, social acceptance of technology plays an important role in the manufacturing sector. To what extent this occurs, and affects the adoption of technology, has been less researched, but is important in deciding how such technology is introduced, and the nature of the shift from labour-intensive manufacturing to automation. This research applies the revised technology acceptance model (TAM) to examine the impact of social and individual antecedents on the acceptance of automation manufacturing technology. Survey data are collected from 258 Chinese manufacturers. Results suggest that perceived norms significantly affect organizational intention to use automation manufacturing technology both directly and via perceived usefulness; organizational efficacy explains the intention to use via mediating effect of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the relationship between baseline renal function and changes in telomere length in Han Chinese.Methods: The telomere restriction fragment (TRF) length of leukocytes in the peripheral blood was measured in healthy volunteers recruited in 2014. The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was calculated based on serum creatinine (Scr) and serum cystatin C (CysC)-eGFRcys and eGFRScr-cys through the Cockcroft-Gault formula (eGFRC-G) or the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI / eGFRCKD-EPI) equation. The correlation between telomere length changes over time and renal function was analyzed.Results: Leukocyte TRF lengths were negatively correlated to age (r = -0.393, p < 0.001) and serum CysC (r = -0.180, p < 0.01), while positively associated with eGFRCKD-EPI, eGFRC-G, eGFRcys, and eGFRScr-cys (r = 0.182, 0.122, 0.290, and 0.254 respectively, p < 0.01). The 3-year change of telomere length was 46 bp/years. When adjusted for age, the associations between telomere length changes and baseline, subsequent TRF lengths, and serum CysC were no longer present. No association was observed between TRF length changes and renal function.Conclusion: The rate of telomere length changes was affected by age and baseline telomere length. Developing both their emotional intelligence and resilience may assist their individual post-traumatic growth and enhance their ability to cope with clinical stress. To investigate the relationships among post-traumatic growth, emotional intelligence and psychological resilience in vocational school nursing students who have experienced childhood adversities, a cross-sectional research design with anonymous questionnaires was conducted and self-report data were analysed. The Childhood Adversities Checklist ( Chinese version), Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Emotional Intelligence Scale and the 10-item Connor- Davidson Resilience Scale were used. Survey data were collected from 202 Chinese vocational school nursing students during 2011. Post-traumatic growth was associated with emotional intelligence and psychological resilience. Results indicated a curvilinear relationship between emotional intelligence and post-traumatic growth, and between psychological resilience and post-traumatic growth. Moderate-level emotional intelligence and psychological resilience were most associated with the greatest levels of growth. The results imply that moderate resilience and emotional intelligence can help nursing students cope with adversity in their future clinical work. This study first provided preliminary data suggesting the curvilinear relationship rather than linear relationship between post-traumatic growth and positive factors in the sample of nursing students. Anthrax is caused by Bacillus anthracis, an etiological agent behind zoonotic diseases worldwide. B. anthracis is also one of the most dangerous bioterrorism agents. An anthrax outbreak took place in Liaoning Province in northeastern China in August 2012. It resulted in seven human infections and dozens of dead cows. One B. anthracis strain, named Han, was isolated from a dead cow. This strain showed minor pathogenicity in mice and was suspected to be derived from the locally administered vaccine strain, Vac. In order to determine if the Han isolate was derived from the vaccine strain Vac and to track the source of the anthrax outbreak and, so, exclude the possibility of terrorism attack, a complete genome sequencing of these two B. anthracis strains was conducted. With the genome sequencing data, canonical single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis and whole-genome SNP screening were performed. The results indicate that the Han strain was markedly different from the Vac strain. Further analysis by multiple-locus variable-number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA) showed that Han clustered with previously reported Chinese strains. The result of MLVA15 confirmed that the Han strain is a naturally occurring isolate instead of an engineered agent deliberately distributed by terrorists or other parties. In conclusion, our method used in this study not only facilitates epidemiological studies but also made it easier to distinguish naturally occurring outbreaks from intentionally released pathogens. Objective:To establish a new magnetic resonance imaging scoring system for diagnosing endolymphatic hydrops.Patients and methods:A total of 214 ears of 107 patients were categorised into five groups: no symptoms, Ménière's disease, sudden deafness, delayed endolymphatic hydrops and other ear disorders. Gadolinium distribution within the labyrinth was scored separately and quantitatively by two radiologists. Multiple independent-sample non-parametric tests, Bayesian discriminant analysis, multivariate logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curve analyses were performed.Results:The derived scoring model was highly accurate for diagnosing Ménière's disease and delayed endolymphatic hydrops. Two magnetic resonance imaging scoring methods for the perilymphatic space were proposed for the diagnosis of endolymphatic hydrops: a pre-1 value (a new variable that predicts individual probability) of more than 0.3982299, or a sum of all labyrinth component scores of less than 14.5.Conclusion:A convenient method is proposed which offers reliable radiological diagnostic criteria for Ménière's disease and delayed endolymphatic hydrops. Purpose: Late-onset epilepsy (LOE) usually refers to the development of epilepsy at the age of 50 years or older. Approximately 20 % of LOE cases are diagnosed as late-onset epilepsy of unknown etiology (LOUE) due to a lack of an identifiable cause. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical features, seizure and cognitive outcomes of patients with LOUE in West China., Methods: Patients diagnosed with LOUE at West China Hospital between January 2015 and December 2022 were retrospectively recruited. The seizure and cognitive outcome were followed up for at least 1 year after discharge. Logistic regression models were applied to investigate the risk factors of recurrent seizure and cognitive impairment in patients with LOUE., Results: We included 286 LOUE patients with a median seizure onset age of 59 years. The most common seizure types were focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizure (61.9 %) and focal non-motor seizure (37.0 %). Two-hundred and seventy-seven (96.9 %) patients underwent video electroencephalography (VEEG), with seizures recorded in 11.9 % of patients and interictal epileptiform discharges in 58.2 % cases. Majority of the patients (73.4 %) received monotherapy, with levetiracetam, oxcarbazepine and valproate being the most commonly prescribed anti-seizure medications. During the follow-up, 69.1 % of patients achieved seizure-free. Multivariate analysis identified ictal event recorded during VEEG monitoring (OR:0.205, 95 % CI: 0.045-0.932, p = 0.040) and memory impairment (OR:2. 470, 95 % CI: 1.181-5.167, p = 0.016) as significant factors associated with recurrent seizure. Twenty-two patients were classified as cognitive impairment. The onset age (OR:1.095, 95 % CI:1.032-1.162, p = 0.003) and total Fazekas score (OR = 6.770, 95 % CI:1.972-23.241, p = 0.002) were significant risk factors associated with cognitive dysfunction., Conclusion: LOUE is generally a benign form of epilepsy with a high percentage of patients achieving seizure-free status. Pharmacogenomics (PGx), an integral part of functional genomics and molecular pharmacology, has evolved significantly over the past decade. Our study reveals that PGx education in China and the United States has made substantial progress, with a particular emphasis on integrating PGx into medical curricula and clinical practice, leading to improved therapeutic strategies and patient outcomes. Consequently, both China and the United States are dedicated to fostering advancements in PGx education. This paper reviews PGx education in these two countries, highlighting its importance and providing an in-depth look at the current status and challenges within universities and clinical settings. Furthermore, it offers recommendations for advancing PGx education and contemplates future trends in both nations.

Background: Many studies have shown that using new technologies and medical equipment contributes to increasing health expenditure. Relatively less empirical studies have measured the impact of medical equipment on rising medical costs in China. Against this backdrop, we aim to examine whether the large-scale medical equipment deployment explains the increase in health expenditure., Methods: Quasi-experimental research design with a difference-in-differences approach was adopted to explore whether an increase in the number of large-scale medical equipment impacts on outpatient and inpatient costs. Data were obtained from the 2011-2017 Health Financial Annals in Shaanxi province, China., Results: The increase in the number of large-scale medical equipment by 1 - regardless of the initial configuration - resulted in the increase of the average cost per outpatient visit and the average cost per inpatient visit by 10.6% (p < 0.05) and 8.0% (p < 0.05), respectively. Our complex difference in differences model illustrates that the increase in the number of large-scale medical equipment by 1 - regardless of the initial configuration-results in an increase in the average diagnostic cost per outpatient visit and the average diagnostic cost per inpatient visit by 27. 3% (p < 0.01) and 25. 5% (p < 0.01), respectively., Conclusions: Our findings show that the medical expenditure differs significantly with the increase in the number of large-scale medical equipment. This study mainly revealed the relationship between the growth of the number of large-scale medical equipment and medical expenditure. Background: Internal migrants in China have long been at a disadvantage in terms of access to publicly financed services, as well as the utilization of public health services. The aim of the study was to examine inequities in the use of basic public health services between internal migrants and the local population and estimate the factors that contributed to inequity in use., Methods: The data for this study was derived from the 2017 wave of the China Migrants Dynamic Survey. Basic public health services utilization was measured by the establishment of health records, health education and chronic disease management. We performed multivariable logistic regressions to examine inequities in the utilization of basic public health services between locals and internal migrants, and Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition was used to explore possible explanations for such inequities between the two groups., Results: A total of 27,998 cases were included in the analysis. We found that the utilization rates for establishment of health records, health education and chronic disease management among internal migrants were 71.3%, 49.2% and 65.7% lower than their local counterparts, respectively. The decomposition results indicated that the inequities in the establishment of health records between locals and internal migrants were mainly explained by whether people had heard of the National Basic Public Health Services Program (NBPHSP) (17.67%) and by health insurance (5.99%). The contributors to the inequities in health education between locals and internal migrants were community involvement (14.71%) and whether people had heard of the NBPHSP (13.89%). The main factors contributing to the difference in utilization of chronic disease management between the two groups were whether people had heard of the NBPHSP (14.49%) and community involvement (8.43%)., Conclusions: To reduce inequities in the utilization of basic public health services between locals and internal migrants, measures need to be taken to improve knowledge about the basic public health services and to help migrants integrate into the local community., Competing Interests: Declarations. The efficiency of molecular breeding largely depends on the cost of genotyping, which plays an important role in breeding and population genetic studies. Compared to pig, cattle, and sheep, poultry has a small size genome, and lower individual value. Developing a relatively low-density genotyping panel is needed to decrease the genotyping cost for poultries. In the present study, we developed a chicken 11 K single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping panel for breeding and genetic analysis using genotyping by targeted sequencing (GBTS). The panel design was based on whole genome sequencing data from 7 local breeds and a commercial breed. In total 11,200 SNPs were included in the final chip. Population analyses of the eight breeds showed high SNP call rates and minor allele frequencies (MAF), enabling clear differentiation between populations. The families within population can also be identified. Additionally, the 11K panel was applied to a genomic prediction of Wenshang Barred chickens, the predictive ability and prediction accuracy between the WGS and chip dataset non-significantly differed. The underlying motivation behind corporate philanthropy (CP) is subject to multiple interpretations. For emerging markets, traditional interpretations based on a perspective of interest exchange often fall short. The institutional environment in China is characterized by uncertainty, particularly in the field of environmental protection, where the government's attention, a scarce institutional resource, can influence the behaviors of heavily polluting companies. The government's environmental attention (GEA) may be subject to campaign-style investment, which provides an opportunity for research. This study attempts to use institutional theory to construct a difference-in-differences model using the Central Inspection of Environmental Protection as an exogenous shock. It examines the causal impact of GEA on CP, observing that GEA has a positive effect on CP, especially for large companies, companies in less competitive industries, companies located in high-pollution areas, and companies with high environmental expenditure. The results indicate that campaign-style institutional changes provide a non-transactional political motivation for CP. In addition, we discuss the mechanism, which is the expectation change. Campaign-style institutional changes work by altering corporations' expectations of the future institutional environment. We verify this mechanism from two perspectives, namely, the intensity of changes caused by uncertainty and corporate sensitivity to changes. Our results remain robust when subject to several tests based on different identification hypotheses and alternative measures. Unlike the existing literature on the political connections driving CP in China, this study, based on the institutional theory framework, reveals that campaign-style institutional changes constitute a non-transactional, unidirectional political motivation, which is a significant driving factor for CP in a Chinese context. This study evaluates the importance of GEA and reveals the non-transactional political motivations from the institutional theory perspective. Dihydroxyaluminum aminoacetate, heavy magnesium carbonate, and aspirin tablets is a new combined aspirin preparation, each containing aspirin (81 mg), dihydroxyaluminum aminoacetate (11 mg), and heavy magnesium carbonate (22 mg). This study was conducted to evaluate the pharmacokinetic (PK) and bioequivalence in healthy Chinese subjects. This randomized, open-label, single-dose, 2-sequence, and 2-period crossover study included 78 healthy volunteers (fasting, n = 36; postprandial, n = 42). Blood samples were collected for PK analysis. Aspirin and salicylic acid concentrations in human plasma were determined by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Safety and tolerability were monitored. There were no significant differences between the test and reference formulations in maximum plasma concentration, area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) from time 0 to time t, or AUC from time 0 to infinity. The 90% confidence intervals of the test and reference formulations of maximum plasma concentration, AUC from time 0 to time t, and AUC from time 0 to infinity were within the acceptable range (80%-125%) under fasting and postprandial conditions. All adverse events were mild and no serious adverse events were observed in the study. Objective: Researches on the epidemiology of various respiratory pathogens at multiple testing points in the pediatric population are limited, and these are crucial for the prevention of respiratory tract infections in children., Methods: We obtained 1788 upper respiratory tract swabs from children exhibiting symptoms of respiratory infection (notably fever with a body temperature exceeding 38.5°C) across five hospitals in Guangdong between November 2020 and June 2022. We used the multiplex probe amplification (MPA) PCR testing to identify 11 respiratory viruses and subsequently analyzed the prevalence characteristics of these pathogens among febrile children in hospitals., Results: The overall detection rate of the pathogens was 58.1% (1039/1788). Human rhinovirus (HRV) exhibited the highest detection rate at 19.0% (339/1788), succeeded by human parainfluenza virus (HPIV), human adenovirus (HAdV), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The positivity and coinfection rates were higher in children aged 5 years and below compared to those above 5 years. Moreover, a distinct pathogen spectrum was observed across different age groups. Hospitalized patients demonstrated a significantly higher positivity and coinfection rate compared to outpatients. During COVID-2019, RSV appeared a counter-seasonal trend., Conclusion: Respiratory viral infections in children display distinct characteristics concerning age, hospitalization status, and seasonality. Children under the age of 5 and minor patients admitted to hospitals at least be tested for RSV, HRV, HPIV, and HAdV. Background: Around 4% of women receive an endometrial cancer diagnosis before turning 40, mainly those without prior childbirth experience and a strong desire to preserve their ability to conceive. Consequently, for young patients diagnosed with atypical endometrial hyperplasia (AEH) or early endometrial carcinoma (EC), a fertility-preserving approach employing high-dose oral progesterone has been adopted. However, previous research has shown a notable relapse rate. Furthermore, the extended use of substantial oral progesterone doses may hinder ovarian function and raise the risk of weight gain, liver issues, blood clotting, and breast cancer. We previously assessed the clinical effectiveness and pregnancy outcomes of gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) based re-treatment for women with EC and AEH who did not respond to oral progestin therapy but achieved favorable treatment results and reproductive outcomes., Methods: This study will be an open-label, two-armed, randomized, investigator-initiated multicenter trial evaluating the combination of GnRH-a with the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system or the combination of GnRH-a with an aromatase inhibitor (comprising a subcutaneous GnRH-a injection every 4 weeks and daily oral letrozole 2.5 mg). A total of 226 participants will be randomly allocated to one of the two treatment groups in a 1:1 ratio. The primary objective is to determine the effectiveness of GnRH-a-based re-treatment in achieving a complete response (CR) at 24 weeks for patients with AEH or EC. Secondary objectives include assessing the pregnancy rate 12 weeks after treatment, as well as post-treatment pregnancy outcomes and the rate of recurrence., Ethics and Dissemination: The protocol received approval from the Institutional Review Board of Peking Union Medical College Hospital and from boards at five other institutions. The trial will adhere to the principles outlined in the World Medical Association's Declaration of Helsinki and follow Good Clinical Practice standards. Objectives: Software for pharmacological modeling and statistical analysis is essential for drug development and individualized treatment modeling. This study aims to develop a pharmacokinetic analysis cloud platform that leverages cloud-based benefits, offering a user-friendly interface with a smoother learning curve., Methods: The platform was built using Rails as the framework, developed in Julia language, and employs PostgreSQL 14 database, Redis cache, and Sidekiq for asynchronous task management. Four commonly used modules in clinical pharmacology research were developed: Non-compartmental analysis, bioequivalence/bioavailability analysis, compartment model analysis, and population pharmacokinetics modeling. The platform ensured comprehensive data security and traceability through multiple safeguards, including data encryption, access control, transmission encryption, redundant backups, and log management. The platform underwent basic function, performance, reliability, usability, and scalability testing, along with practical case studies., Results: The CPhaMAS cloud platform successfully implemented the 4 module functionalities. The platform provides a list-based navigation for users, featuring checkbox-style interactions. Through cloud computing, it allows direct online data analysis, saving computer storage and minimizing performance requirements. Modeling and visualization do not require programming knowledge. Basic functionality achieved 100% completion, with an average annual uptime of over 99%. Server response time was between 200 to 500 ms, and average CPU usage was maintained below 30%. In a practical case study, cefotaxime sodium/tazobactam sodium injection (6꞉1 ratio) displayd near-linear pharmacokinetics within a dose range of 1.0 to 4.0 g, with no significant effect of tazobactam on the pharmacokinetic parameters of cefotaxime, validating the platform's usability and reliability., Conclusions: CPhaMAS provides an integrated modeling and statistical tool for educators, researchers, and industrial professionals, enabling non-compartmental analysis, bioequivalence/bioavailability analysis, compartmental model building, and population pharmacokinetic modeling and simulation.

Background: The number and proportion of HIV/AIDS patients among older people are continuously and rapidly increasing in China. We conducted a detailed molecular epidemiological analysis of HIV-1 epidemic strains in a developed city in eastern China and found that elderly people play a crucial role in the transmission of subtypes and high pretreatment drug resistance (PDR)., Methods: A total of 1048 samples were obtained from 1129 (92.8%) newly confirmed HIV-1-positive and treatment-naive patients between 2019 and 2023. The 1316 bp target fragment of the pol gene was amplified by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT‒PCR) and nested PCR, and Maximum-likelihood (ML) phylogenetic trees and molecular transmission network were constructed to analyse the subtypes and transmission clusters. Molecular transmission network was visualized using Cytoscape with the distance threshold of 0.0075. PDR-associated mutations were determined according to the Stanford University HIV Drug Resistance Database., Results: A total of 933 pol sequences (89.0%, 933/1048) were successfully obtained, and twelve HIV-1 subtypes were detected. CRF07&#95;BC was the predominant subtype, accounting for 48.1% (449/933) of sequences, followed by CRF01&#95;AE (29.4%, 274/933). A total of 398 individuals (42.7%, 398/933) formed 89 clusters in the network. Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that age, nationality, subtype, and PDR were the most significant factors associated with clustering in the transmission network. The prevalence of PDR was 14.6% (136/933).PDR associated with non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (10.0%, 93/933) was much more common than that associated with nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (1.8%, 17/933) and protease inhibitors (3.2%, 30/933) (χ 2  = 77.961, p < 0.001). The most frequent NNRTI mutations were K103N/S/KN/NS (52.2%, 71/136), which led to the highest proportion of high-level resistance to nevirapine and efavirenz (52.2%)., Conclusions: Our study revealed the important influence of elderly people on CRF07&#95;BC transmission and the high prevalence of PDR. The clustering of drug-resistant cases was significant, which suggested the potential for localized widespread transmission of drug-resistant strains. Introduction: Patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remain a poor prognosis despite the development of chemotherapy. Although programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) blockade has shown great efficacy in various solid tumours, its application in treating PDAC is limited. Recent studies have indicated that chemotherapy or stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) may improve the antitumour effect of PD-1 blockade in patients with PDAC. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined therapy comprising PD-1 blockade, gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel chemotherapy and SBRT for patients with metastatic PDAC., Methods and Analysis: This is a multicentre, single-arm, prospective phase II clinical trial. Forty-three patients diagnosed with metastatic PDAC will be enrolled. The eligible patients will be intravenously administered 1000 mg/m 2 gemcitabine and 125 mg/m 2 nab-paclitaxel on days 1 and 8 of the 21-day cycle. Serplulimab (200 mg) will be administered intravenously on day 1 of the 21-day cycle. Furthermore, during the second cycle, the patients will undergo SBRT with doses of 33 Gy in five fractions for primary lesions or doses of 24 Gy in three fractions for metastases. The primary endpoint is the 6-month progression-free survival (PFS) rate. The secondary endpoints overall survival, PFS, overall response rate, disease control rate, time to progression, duration of response, duration of disease control and safety. Purpose: Investigating risk factors for amputation in patients with diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) and developing a nomogram prediction model., Methods: We gathered case data of DFU patients from five medical institutions in Anhui Province, China. Following eligibility criteria, a retrospective case-control study was performed on data from 526 patients., Results: Among the 526 patients (mean age: 63.32 ± 12.14), 179 were female, and 347 were male; 264 underwent amputation. Univariate analysis identified several predictors for amputation, including Blood type-B, Ambulation, history of amputation (Hx. Of amputation), Bacterial culture-positive, Wagner grade, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), and laboratory parameters (HbA1c, Hb, CRP, ALB, FIB, PLT, Protein). In the multivariate regression, six variables emerged as independent predictors: Blood type-B (OR = 2.332, 95%CI [1.488-3.657], p < 0.001), Hx. We developed a nomogram prediction model utilizing the aforementioned independent risk factors. Background and Objective: Tocilizumab is an immunoglobulin G1 monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R). BAT1806/BIIB800 (tocilizumab-bavi) has been developed as a biosimilar to the reference product tocilizumab (TCZ). The objective of this study was to demonstrate physicochemical and functional similarity between BAT1806/BIIB800 and TCZ in a comprehensive comparability exercise., Methods: A comprehensive panel of over 20 methods was used to generate datasets comparing critical and non-critical product quality attributes for 10 BAT1806/BIIB800 lots and 44 TCZ lots (16 sourced from China, 16 from the EU, and 12 from the US). Primary structure, higher-order structure, and physicochemical properties were assessed using liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, various spectroscopy techniques/methods, capillary electrophoresis, and thermoanalytical techniques. Fragment antigen-binding (Fab)- and fragment crystallizable (Fc)-mediated biological properties were assessed using cell-based assays, immunoassays, flow cytometry, and kinetic binding assays., Results: BAT1806/BIIB800 and TCZ (irrespective of source) were shown to be similar in terms of structural and functional properties. No differences were observed in terms of the most critical quality attributes, that is, soluble-IL-6R binding and inhibition of IL-6-mediated cell proliferation. BAT1806/BIIB800 and TCZ demonstrated similarity in terms of Fab- and Fc-mediated binding and biological activity. Minor differences were observed in glycosylation (afucosylation and sialylation), glycation, aggregation, and charge variants, which were demonstrated to be not clinically relevant., Conclusion: BAT1806/BIIB800 and TCZ were highly similar for all critical quality attributes. The development and utilization of renewable energy (RE) is crucial for achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The northwest China, endowed with abundant RE sources such as wind and solar power, accounts for over 70% of the country's total resources. The assessment and utilization of RE in this region has become a critical means to achieve the SDGs, particularly SDG7. However, lack of knowledge regarding the RE potential poses a barrier to achieving high-quality energy development. Thus, through a Geographical Information System (GIS) based multi-criteria analysis, we assess the solar and wind energy potential in northwest China, quantitatively examine the energy potential and its contribution towards achieving the SDGs. Our results show that a substantial portion of RE can be harnessed in northwest China, with wind energy generation reaching up to 9.84PWh/km 2 /yr at 110m and 12.43 PWh/km 2 /yr at 140m. Concurrently, solar energy can contribute up to 15.16 PWh/km 2 /yr. Xinjiang province has the highest RE potential for it contains a large share of suitable area with good resource quality. Objectives: We evaluated the long-term effects of air pollution controls on health and health inequity among Chinese >45 years of age., Methods: Data were derived from the China Health Aging and Retirement Longitudinal Survey and the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre. Decreases in PM 2.5 and PM 10 were scaled to measure air quality controls. We used a quasi-experimental design to estimate the impact of air quality controls on self-reported health and health inequity. Health disparities were estimated using the concentration index and the horizontal index., Results: Air pollution controls significantly improved self-reported health by 20% (OR 1.20, 95% CI , 1.02-1.42). The poorest group had a 40% (OR 1.41, 95% CI , 0.96-2.08) higher probability of having excellent self-reported health after air pollution controls. A pro-rich health inequity was observed, and the horizontal index decreased after air pollution controls., Conclusion: Air pollution controls have a long-term positive effect on health and health equity. Background and Objective: Venlafaxine hydrochloride extended-release (ER) capsules are commonly used to treat depression and anxiety disorders. Evaluation of the bioequivalence of generic formulations with reference products is essential to ensure therapeutic equivalence. The objective of this study was to evaluate the bioequivalence, safety, and tolerability of Chinese-manufactured venlafaxine hydrochloride extended-release capsules compared with USA-manufactured EFFEXOR ® XR in healthy Chinese volunteers under fed conditions., Methods: A randomized, open-label, single-dose, crossover study was conducted. Subjects were randomly assigned to receive the test formulation (one 150-mg ER capsule manufactured in China) or the reference formulation (one 150-mg ER capsule manufactured in the USA). The bioequivalence of the two drugs was assessed using the area under the plasma concentration-time curve from time zero to the last sampling time (AUC 0-t ) and the maximum observed concentration (C max )., Results: A total of 28 subjects were enrolled and randomly assigned to receive a single dose of either the test or reference capsule. All the subjects completed the study and were included in the pharmacokinetic (PK) and safety analyses. The mean AUC 0-t and C max of venlafaxine and its active metabolite O-desmethylvenlafaxine were comparable between the test and reference products with both parameters close to 100% and the corresponding 90% confidence intervals within the specified 80-125% bioequivalence boundary. Purpose: This study aimed to explore the pharmacogenetic variability associated with the pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) of rivaroxaban in healthy Chinese subjects., Methods: This was a multicenter study that included 304 healthy adults aged 18 to 45 years with unknown genotypes. All participants were administered a single dose of rivaroxaban at 10 mg, 15 mg, or 20 mg. PK and PD parameters were measured, and exome-wide association analysis was conducted., Findings: Sixteen SNPs located on 11 genes influenced the AUC 0-t . Among these, the 3 most influential genes were MiR516A2, PARP14, and MIR618. Thirty-six SNPs from 28 genes were associated with the PD of rivaroxaban. The 3 most influential genes were PKNOX2, BRD3, and APOL4 for anti-Xa activity, and GRIP2, PLCE1, and MLX for diluted prothrombin time (dPT). Among them, BRD3 played an important role in both the PK and PD of rivaroxaban. Anti-Xa activity (ng/mL) differed significantly among subjects with BRD3 rs467387: 145.1 ± 55.5 versus 139.9 ± 65.1 versus 164.0 ± 68.6 for GG, GA, and AA carriers, respectively (P = 0.0002)., Implications: This study found that that the regulation of the BRD3 gene might affect the PK and PD of rivaroxaban, suggesting that it should be studied as a new pharmacologic target. Background: Body weight and size are important economic traits in chickens. While many growth-related quantitative trait loci (QTLs) and candidate genes have been identified, further research is needed to confirm and characterize these findings. In this study, we investigate genetic and genomic markers associated with chicken body weight and size. This study provides new insights into potential markers for genomic selection and breeding strategies to improve meat production in chickens., Methods: We performed whole-genome resequencing of and Wenshang Barred (WB) chickens (n = 596) and three additional breeds with varying body sizes (Recessive White (RW), WB, and Luxi Mini (LM) chickens; (n = 50)). We then used selective sweeps of mutations coupled with genome-wide association study (GWAS) to identify genomic markers associated with body weight and size., Results: We identified over 9.4 million high-quality single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) among three chicken breeds/lines. Among these breeds, 287 protein-coding genes exhibited positive selection in the RW and WB populations, while 241 protein-coding genes showed positive selection in the LM and WB populations. Genomic heritability estimates were calculated for 26 body weight and size traits, including body weight, chest breadth, chest depth, thoracic horn, body oblique length, keel length, pelvic width, shank length, and shank circumference in the WB breed. The estimates ranged from 0.04 to 0.67. Our analysis also identified a total of 2,522 genome-wide significant SNPs, with 2,474 SNPs clustered around two genomic regions. The first region, located on chromosome 4 (7.41-7.64 Mb), was linked to body weight after ten weeks and body size traits. LCORL, LDB2, and PPARGC1A were identified as candidate genes in this region. The other region, located on chromosome 1 (170.46-171.53 Mb), was associated with body weight from four to eighteen weeks and body size traits. This region contained CAB39L and WDFY2 as candidate genes. Notably, LCORL, LDB2, and PPARGC1A showed highly selective signatures among the three breeds of chicken with varying body sizes., Conclusion: Overall this study provides a comprehensive map of genomic variants associated with body weight and size in chickens. Objective: To understand the incidence of diabetes and influencing factors, the trend of FPG change and risk for mortality in HIV-infected individuals after antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture (Dehong). Methods: The HIV/AIDS treatment database was collected from China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention. This retrospective cohort study was conducted in HIV-infected individuals with access to ART in Dehong during 2004-2020.The Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to analyze the incidence density of diabetes, the influencing factors and risk for mortality in HIV-infected individuals with access to ART, mixed linear effects model was used to analyze the trend of FPG change and predict FPG in those with different glucose metabolic status at baseline survey. Statistical analysis was performed using software SAS 9.4. Results: A total of 8 763 HIV-infected individuals were included, in whom 8 432 (96.2%) had no diabetes, 331 had diabetes. The incidence density of diabetes was 2.31/1 000 person years. Multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression analysis revealed that 30- 59 years old, BMI ≥24.0 kg/m 2 , Efavirenz (EFV) based initial treatment regimen and impaired fasting glucose (IFG) at baseline survey were significantly and positively associated with incidence of diabetes. Mixed effect model revealed that FPG was positively correlated with the duration of ART, age and baseline FPG. Suffering from diabetes was a risk factor for mortality in HIV-infected individuals both at baseline survey and during follow-up. Conclusions: The risk for diabetes increased in HIV-infected individuals who were 30-59 years old, baseline BMI ≥24.0 kg/m 2 , received EFV based initial treatment, and IFG in HIV-infected individuals after antiretroviral therapy in Dehong, 2004-2020. It is important to pay close attention to their blood glucose, and patients with high blood glucose should receive treatment as early as possible.

Dissolved organic matter (DOM) plays an essential role in many geochemical processes, however its complexity, chemical diversity, and molecular composition are poorly understood. Soil samples were collected from 500 vegetable fields in administrative regions of mainland China, of which 122 were selected for further investigation. DOM properties were characterized by three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix (3D-EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy and Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICR-MS) (field intensity is 15 Tesla). Our results indicated that the main constituents were UVA humic-like substances, humic-like substances, fulvic acid-like substances, and tyrosine-like substances. A total of 10,989 molecular formulae with a mass range of 100.04 to 799.59 Da were detected, covering the mass spectrometric information of the soil samples from 27 different regions. CHO and CHON molecules were dominant in DOM, whereas lignin, tannins, and aromatic substances served as the main components. The results of cluster analysis revealed that the soil properties in Jiangxi Province were considerably different from those in other regions. The determination and evaluation of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in seven Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs) were conducted through a rapid and straightforward extraction and purification method, coupled with GC-MS. A sample-based solid-phase extraction (SPE) pretreatment technique, incorporating isotopic internal standards, was employed for detecting various medicinal parts of CHMs. The assay exhibited linearity within the range of 5 to 500 ng/mL, with linear coefficients (R 2 ) for PAHs exceeding 0.999. The recoveries of spiked standards ranged from 63.37% to 133.12%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranging from 0.75% to 14.54%. The total PAH content varied from 176.906 to 1414.087 μg/kg. Among the 16 PAHs, phenanthrene (Phe) was consistently detected at the highest levels (47.045-168.640 μg/kg). Characteristic ratio analysis indicated that oil, coal, and biomass combustion were the primary sources of PAHs in CHMs. The health risk associated with CHMs was assessed using the lifetime carcinogenic risk approach, revealing potential health risks from the consumption of honeysuckle, while the health risks of consuming Lycium chinense berries were deemed negligible. For the other five CHMs (glycyrrhizae, Coix lacryma , ginseng, lotus seed, seed of Sterculia lychnophora ), the health risk from consumption fell within acceptable ranges. Furthermore, sensitivity analyses utilizing Monte Carlo exposure assessment methods identified PAH levels in CHMs as health risk sensitizers. It is crucial to recognize that the consumption of herbal medicines is not a continuous process but entails potential health risks. Hence, the monitoring and risk assessment of PAH residues in CHMs demand careful attention.

Interactions between dissolved organic matter (DOM) and surrounding environments are highly complex. Understanding DOM at the molecular level can contribute to the management of soil pollution and safeguarding agricultural fields. Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FTICR-MS) has enabled a molecular-level understanding of DOM. Accordingly, in this study, we investigated soil samples from 27 different regions of mainland China with various soil types and climatic characteristics. Based on the geographical features of the four typical climatic zones in mainland China (temperate monsoon, temperate continental, subtropical monsoon, and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau climates), we employed high-resolution mass spectrometry to determine the molecular diversity of DOM under different climatic conditions. The results indicated that lignin and tannin-like substances were the most active categories of DOM in the soils. Collectively, the composition and unsaturation of DOM molecules are influenced by sunlight, precipitation, temperature, and human activity. All climatic regions contained a substantial number of characteristic molecules, with CHO and CHON constituting over 80%, and DOM containing nitrogen and sulfur was relatively more abundant in the monsoon regions. The complex composition of DOM incorporates various active functional groups, such as -NO2 and -ONO2. The toxicity of microplastics (MPs) to aquatic organisms has been extensively studied recently. However, few studies have investigated the effects of MPs in sediments on aquatic ecosystem functioning. In the present study, we conducted an in situ experiment to explore the concentration-dependent effects (0.025%, 0.25%, 2.5%) and size-dependent effects (150-300 μm and 500-1000 μm) of polypropylene microplastics (PP MPs) on Vallisneria natans litter decomposition dynamics, in particular, the process associated with macroinvertebrates, microorganisms, as well as microalgae and/or cyanobacteria. The results showed that exposure to high concentrations and large sizes of PP MPs can accelerate leaf litter biomass loss and nutrition release. Moreover, microbial respiration, microalgal and/or cyanobacteria chlorophyll-a were also significantly affected by PP MPs. However, PP MPs have no effect on the abundance of associated macroinvertebrate during the experiment, despite the collection of five macroinvertebrate taxa from two functional feeding groups (i.e., collectors and scrapers). Therefore, our experiment demonstrated that PP MPs may enhance leaf litter decomposition through effected microbial metabolic activity, microalgal and/or cyanobacteria biomass in the sedimentary lake. Using panel data for 277 Chinese cities, this paper applies a time-varying difference-in-differences (DID) model to empirically test the impact of China's carbon emissions trading scheme (ETS) on urban air quality, and further explores its heterogeneity and the mechanisms involved. The results show that ETS can improve urban air quality. This conclusion remains robust through a series of robustness tests, including PSM-DID estimation, varying window periods, exclusion of significant events, lag phase, and placebo tests. The dynamic effect test indicates that ETS has a continuous and effective effect on improving urban air quality. Mechanism analysis reveals that the degree of marketization can enhance the improvement effect that ETS has on urban air quality. Meanwhile, industrial structure upgrading and green technology innovation are important mechanisms by which pilot ETS policy improves urban air quality. Identification of the spatial distribution, driving forces, and future trends of agricultural methane (AGM) emissions is necessary to develop differentiated emission control pathways and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 in China, which is the largest emitter of AGM. However, such research is currently lacking. Here, we estimated China's AGM emissions from 2010 to 2020 and then decomposed six factors that affect AGM emissions via the LMDI model. The results indicated that the AGM emissions in China in 2020 were 23.39 Tg, with enteric fermentation being the largest source, accounting for 43.9% of the total emissions. A total of 39.3% of the AGM emissions were from western China. The main driver of AGM emission reduction was emission intensity, accounting for 59% and 33.7% of methane emission reduction in the livestock sector and rice cultivation, respectively. Additionally, higher levels of urbanization contributed to AGM emission reductions, accounting for 31.3% and 43.0% of the livestock sector and rice cultivation emission reductions, respectively. Based on the SSP-RCP scenarios, we found that China's AGM emissions in 2060 were reduced by approximately 90% through a combination of technology measures, behavioral changes, and innovation policies. Our study provides a scientific basis for optimizing existing AGM emission reduction policies not only in China but also potentially in other high AGM-emitting countries, such as India and Brazil.

This study was designed to investigate the toxic metal (aluminum (Al), arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn)) concentrations in drinking water and different foodstuffs meat (pork, beef, and mutton), cereals (rice, flour, corn, millet), beans (cowpeas, tofu), potatoes (potato, sweet potato), solanaceous fruits (pepper, eggplant, bitter gourd, cucumber), vegetables (cabbage, cauliflower, spinach), and fruits (apples, watermelons, pears, grapes)) and then estimate the potential health risks of toxic metal consumption to local residents in industrial regions of northern Ningxia, China. As in drinking water, Cr in meat, Pb in cereals, Pb in beans, As and Pb in potatoes, Pb in solanaceous fruits, Cr and Ni in vegetables, and Ni and Pb in fruits were the most contaminated heavy metals in the corresponding food with over-standard rates of 16.7%, 12.5%, 5.1%, 60%, 50%, 50%, 38.2%, 44.4%, 44.4%, 31.8%, and 31.8%, respectively.The results of the deterministic assessment of health risks showed that the total noncarcinogenic risk value of dietary intake of toxic metals by the local population was 5.6106, indicating that toxic metals pose a high noncarcinogenic risk. The order of the non-carcinogenic risk is HI cereal (1.2104) > HI solanaceous fruit (0.9134) > HI Vegetables (0.8726) > HI Fruit (0.8170) > HI Meat (0.7269) > HI Drinking water (0.6139) > HI Beans (0.2991) > HI Potatoes (0.1573). The total carcinogenic health risk from exposure to toxic metals through dietary intake was 9.98 × 10 -4 , indicating that the total cancer risk value of residents is beyond the acceptable range (10 -4 ) under the current daily dietary exposure and implies a high risk of cancer. The order of the carcinogenic risk is R Drinking water (2.34 × 10 -4 ) > R Meat (2.11 × 10 -4 ) > R solanaceous fruit (1.89 × 10 -4 ) > R Fruit (1.88 × 10 -4 ) > R cereal (1.36 × 10 -4 ) > R Potatoes (2.44 × 10 -5 ) > R Vegetables (1.51 × 10 -5 ) > R Beans (0). The probabilistic assessment results showed that 98.83% of the population is exposed to severe noncarcinogenic risk and 87.02% is exposed to unacceptable carcinogenic risk. The sensitivity analysis showed that drinking water, local cereals, vegetables, and fruits were the major contributors to health risks. Fungal communities are essential to the maintenance of soil multifunctionality. Plant invasion represents a growing challenge for the conservation of soil biodiversity across the globe, but the impact of non-native species invasion on fungal diversity, community structure, and assembly processes remains largely unknown. Here, we examined the diversity, community composition, functional guilds, and assembly process of fungi at three soil depths underneath a native species, three non-native species, and a bare tidal flat from a coastal wetland. Plant species was more important than soil depth in regulating the diversity, community structure, and functional groups of fungi. Non-native species, especially Spartina alterniflora, increased fungal diversity, altered fungal community structure, and increased the relative abundance of saprotrophic and pathogenic fungi in coastal wetland soils. Stochastic processes played a predominant role in driving fungal community assembly, explaining more than 70% of the relative contributions. However, compared to a native species, non-native species, especially S. alterniflora, reduced the relative influence of stochastic processes in fungal community assembly. Collectively, our results provide novel evidence that non-native species can increase fungal diversity, the relative abundance of saprotrophic and pathogenic fungi, and deterministic processes in the assembly of fungi in coastal wetlands, which can expand our knowledge of the dynamics of fungal communities in subtropical coastal wetlands., (© 2022. Understanding the gap between potential productivity and the actual productivity of vegetation (vegetation productivity gap, VPG) is the basis to explore the potential productivity improvement and identify its constraints. In this study, we used the classification and regression tree model to simulate the potential net primary productivity (PNPP) based on the flux-observational maximum net primary productivity (NPP) across different vegetation types, that is, potential productivity. The actual NPP (ANPP) is obtained from the grid NPP averaged over five terrestrial biosphere models, and the VPG is subsequently calculated. On this basis, we used the variance decomposition method to separate the effects of climate change, land-use change, CO 2 , and nitrogen deposition on the trend and the interannual variability (IAV) of VPG from 1981 to 2010. Meanwhile, the spatiotemporal variation characteristics and influencing factors of VPG under future climate scenarios are analyzed. The results showed an increasing trend in PNPP and ANPP, while there was a decreasing trend of VPG in most parts of the world and this trend is more significant under representative concentration pathways (RCPs). The turning points (TP) of VPG variation are found under RCPs and the reduction trend of VPG before TP is more than that after TP. The VPG reduction in most regions was caused by the combined effects of PNPP and ANPP (41.68 %) from 1981 to 2010. However, the dominant factors of global VPG reduction are changing under RCPs, and the increment of NPP (39.71 % - 49.3 %) has become the dominating factor of VPG variation. CO 2 plays a decisive role in the multi-year trend of VPG, while climate change is the main factor determining the IAV of VPG. Objectives: The aim of this study was to understand the impact of multimorbidity on catastrophic health expenditures for people with hypertension., Methods: Data were obtained from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) in 2018, 8,342 adults were included in our analysis. Propensity score matching method was used to compare the risk of catastrophic health expenditures between the hypertension patients (treatment group) and those without any chronic disease (control group) in middle-aged and older adults. Patients with hypertension were also divided into two groups: only hypertension and multimorbidity., Results: Hypertension increased the likelihood of CHE by 11.3% in older adults. Objectives: This study assesses the style of tutor-postgraduate interactions in Chinese medical colleges and explores the association between postgraduates' demographic factors and tutors' demographic characteristics., Methods: With the stratified sampling method, a cross-sectional online survey was used. A total of 813 medical postgraduates were recruited as participants, with an effective response rate of 85.49%. The two dimensions of "Professional Ability Interaction" and "Comprehensive Cultivation Interaction" in the self-developed "Instructor-Graduate Interaction Scale for Medical Colleges" were used as dependent variables. And tutors' demographic characteristics and postgraduates' demographic characteristics were taken as independent variables. Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of Tutor-Postgraduates Interactions in medical colleges., Results: The Tutor-Postgraduates Interaction scale consists of 14 items from the two dimensions of "Professional Ability Interaction" and "Comprehensive Cultivation Interaction". The results of the logistic regression analysis show the reasons for selecting the mentor students (industry recognition, the tutor's research direction, charm in attracting mentors, and recommendations for mentor selection); student to mentor satisfaction; student to study life satisfaction; and regular academic seminars. Indirect guidance and a high postgraduate grade high are the protective factors of interaction between tutors and postgraduates of medical colleges and universities postgraduates. Older mentors and more graduate tutors are the risk factors for Tutor-Postgraduates Interaction in medical colleges (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The current study proposes that managers should pay more attention to the double-track promotion of "Professional Ability Interaction" and "Comprehensive Cultivation Interaction". We should not only pay attention to the cultivation of postgraduates' professional ability but also pay more attention to the comprehensive cultivation including postgraduates' mental and psychological aspects. The interaction between tutors and postgraduates in medical colleges is generally good, but much attention should be given to the dual-track promotion mentioned above. Background: Previous studies have revealed the relationship between cold spells and morbidity and mortality due to respiratory diseases, while the detrimental effects of cold spells on the length of hospital stay and hospitalization expenses remain largely unknown., Methods: We collected hospitalization data for respiratory diseases in 11 cities of Shanxi, China during 2017-2019. In each case, exposure to meteorological variables and air pollution was estimated by the bilinear interpolation approach and inverse distance weighting method, respectively, and then averaged at the city level. Cold spells were defined as the daily mean temperature below the 10 th , 7.5 th , or 5 th percentiles for at least 2 to 5 consecutive days. We applied distributed lag non-linear models combined with generalized additive models to assess cumulative effects and harvesting effects., Results: There were significant associations between cold spells and hospital admissions, length of hospital stay, and hospital expenses for respiratory diseases. Compared with the non-cold spell period, the overall (lag 0-21) cumulative risk of hospitalization for total respiratory diseases was 1.232 (95 % CI: 1.090, 1.394) on cold spell days, and the increased length of hospital stay and hospitalization expenses were 112.793 (95 % CI: 10.755, 214.830) days and 127.568 (95 % CI: 40.513, 214.624) thousand Chinese yuan. The overall cumulative risks of cold spells on total respiratory diseases and pneumonia were statistically significant. We further observed harvesting effects in the associations between cold spells and hospital admission, length of hospital stay, and hospitalization expenses for respiratory diseases., Conclusions: Cumulative cold-spell exposure for up to three weeks is associated with hospitalization, length of hospital stay, and hospital expenses for respiratory diseases. Objective: To analyze the latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) among persons living with HIV(PLWH) in Jiangsu Province, to explore the factors affecting the positive rate of LTBI, and to take appropriate measures to control tuberculosis (TB) infection., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among PLWH in Jiangsu Province from June to July 2021. All PLWH in Jiangsu Province were used as the study population. Currently, the diagnosis of LTBI lacks a "gold standard" and can only be assisted by the immunological method. In this study, Tuberculin skin test (TST), ESAT6-CFP10 test (EC), and QuantiFERON-TB gold in-tube (QFT) were used to detect the positive rate of LTBI among PLWH and to analyze their risk factors., Results: A total of 340 prisoners were included, 89.7% were male, the median age was 38 years [Interquartile Range (IQR):32-46 years], these patients were on Antiviral Therapy (ART), and median CD4 counts was 376 (IQR: 261-496), 103 (30.3%) were positive in at least one test, LTBI by TST was 16.5%, LTBI by EC was 15.9%, LTBI by QFT was 26.2%. Univariate analysis showed the results for TST, EC, and QFT were not affected by CD4 counts (p>0.05), and multivariate analysis showed that a history of incarceration was associated with an increased risk of positive TST (adjusted odds ratio [aOR]=1.98;95% CI,1.03-3.82), EC (aOR=2.65;95% CI,1.37-5.12) and QFT (aOR=2.01;95%CI,1.12-3.57), in addition, female gender was associated with increased risk of positive TST (aOR=3.66;95%CI,1.60-8.37) and EC (aOR=3.43;95%CI,1.46-8.07), and contact history of TB patients was associated with increased risk of TST (aOR= 2.54;95%CI,1.23-5.22) and QFT (aOR=2.03;95%CI,1.03-3.99), and ethnic minorities (aOR=0.26;95%CI,0.12-0.57), longer duration of incarceration was associated with an increased risk of positive QFT (aOR=1.12;95%CI,1.02-1.24). In groundwater environments, the interaction between microbial communities and the hydrogeochemical parameters have been investigated extensively in the past years. However, little is known whether the maximum contamination level (MCL) is a threshold value that dictates the microbial composition. In this study, we analyzed 10 groundwater samples for their nitrate, nitrite, COD and sulfate concentrations, and characterized their microbial compositions using 16 S rRNA based high-throughput sequencing methods. All the 10 samples had oxygen demands higher than the corresponding MCL of China (10 mg L -1 ); moreover, 4 out of 10 samples also had nitrate concentrations higher than the corresponding MCL, which indicated that the groundwater quality was negatively impacted by anthropogenic activities. Comparing the microbial composition of groundwater that had higher-than-MCL nitrate concentrations to those that had lower-than-MCL nitrate concentrations, no significant differences were detected in communities' richness and diversity. However, the non-metric multi-dimensional analysis suggested that the 4 groundwater samples whose nitrate concentration exceed MCL are distinctly different from those of the rest 6 samples, indicating that MCL does have a significant impact on microbial structures. Pearson's correlation analysis suggested that none of the four analyzed hydrochemical parameters had significant impact on microbial communities' richness and diversity; however, at the genus level, the correlation results suggested that JG30-KM-CM45, Sphingomonas and Rhodococcus are closely correlated with nitrate concentration. The mismatch between trade-embodied economic benefits and CO 2 emissions causes carbon inequality, which is seldom analyzed from the intracountry level, especially across a long-term period. This study applied an environmentally extended multiregional input-output model to trace this mismatch and measure the carbon inequality quantitatively within China during 2007-2017. The results show that during the past decade, China's national carbon inequality was continuously worsening with carbon Gini coefficients rising regardless of production- (0.21-0.30) or consumption-based (0.12-0.18) accounting. The regional carbon inequality was deteriorating, where less developed provinces with 20% of total value-added emitted 32.9% of total CO 2 emissions in 2007, while this figure rose to 42.6% in 2017. The eastern provinces (Jiangsu and Shanghai) had entered into net economic and carbon beneficiaries keeping high trade advantages, by contrast the northwest provinces (Ningxia and Xinjiang) were trapped in a lose-lose situation with trade benefits declining by 68%. The southwest provinces (Yunnan and Guangxi) shifted from being net carbon and value-added exporters to net importers, stepping into the earlier development mode of eastern provinces. This hidden and exacerbated carbon inequality calls for regional-specific measures to avoid the dilemma of economic development and CO 2 mitigation, which also gives a good reminder for the rising economies, like India.

To determine the distribution of the anterior chamber parameters and associated factors in cataractous adults from middle China. In this cross-sectional study, axial length, anterior chamber depth (ACD) and lens thickness (LT) were measured with IOLMaster 700. The Pentacam HR was designed to measure the anterior chamber volume (ACV) and anterior chamber angle (ACA). Patients' data were collected and analyzed between 2020 and 2022. A total of 157 eyes of 157 Chinese adults (mean age: 64.43 ± 12.16 years) with a cataract were enrolled in this study. The mean values measured were as follows: axial length, 24.10 ± 2.44mm; ACD, 2.99 ± 0.52 mm; LT, 4.51 ± 0.48 mm; ACV, 113.98 ± 45.12 mm3; ACA, 32.33 ± 7.66 degrees. The ACD and ACV were statistically significantly greater in men than in women and had a decrease trend as age and LT increased. In the simulated linear equation of age with ACD and LT the absolute slope coefficients of equations were the same; however, the directions were opposite. The mean ACV was <100 mm3 when the patients were over 60 years. In the multivariate regression analysis of ACD, ACV and ACA there was a reasonable prediction with adjusted R2 = 0.878, 0.847 and 0.564, respectively. This study may provide normative data for cataract patients. Walnut (Juglans) species are economically important hardwood trees cultivated worldwide for both edible nuts and high-quality wood. Broad-scale assessments of species diversity, evolutionary history, and domestication are needed to improve walnut breeding. In this study, we sequenced 309 walnut accessions from around the world, including 55 Juglans relatives, 98 wild Persian walnuts (J. regia), 70 J. regia landraces, and 86 J. regia cultivars. The phylogenetic tree indicated that J. regia samples (section Dioscaryon) were monophyletic within Juglans. The core areas of genetic diversity of J. regia germplasm were southwestern China and southern Asia near the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Himalayas, and the uplift of the Himalayas was speculated to be the main factor leading to the current population dynamics of Persian walnut. The pattern of genomic variation in terms of nucleotide diversity, linkage disequilibrium, single nucleotide polymorphisms, and insertions/deletions revealed the domestication and selection footprints in Persian walnut. Selective sweep analysis, GWAS, and expression analysis further identified two transcription factors, JrbHLH and JrMYB6, that influence the thickness of the nut diaphragm as loci under selection during domestication. Eight potentially toxic elements (PTEs, including nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), chromium (Cr), and mercury (Hg)) in Lycium barbarum L. (wolfberries) and the associated root soil from a genuine producing area were analyzed. The potential ecological risk of PTEs in the soil and the health risk of PTEs through wolfberry consumption were determined. Geostatistical methods were used to predict the PTE concentrations in the wolfberries and soil. Positive matrix factorization (PMF) was applied to identify the source of PTEs in the soil. The PTE concentrations in the soils were within the standard limits, and Cd in the wolfberries exceeded the standard limit at only one site. The bioconcentration factors (BCF) order for the different PTEs was Cd > Cu > 1 > Zn > Cr > As > Ni > Pb, indicating that Cd and Cu were highly accumulated in wolfberries. The multiple regression models for Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Pb, and Cr concentrations in the wolfberries exhibited good correlations (p < 0.1). The ecological risk for Hg in the soil was high, whereas the risks for the remaining PTEs were mostly medium or low. Health risks for inhabitants through wolfberry consumption were not obvious. The spatial distributions of the PTEs in the soil differed from the PTE concentrations in the wolfberries. Source identification results were in the order of natural source (48.2%) > industrial activity source (27.8%) > agricultural activity source (14.5%) > transportation source (9.5%). Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is a common liver disease during pregnancy, that has serious complications. This study aimed to compare the blood inflammation and biochemical markers of pregnant women with ICP in Southwest China and analyse their diagnostic value for ICP. A controlled cross-sectional study was conducted, and routine blood and biochemical indicators of 304 diagnosed ICP patients and 363 healthy pregnant women undergoing routine prenatal examination were assessed. The blood inflammatory indicators and biochemical indicators were compared between the ICP groups and normal groups. In this study, the levels of the ALT, AST, GGT, TBIL and DBIL biochemical indicators and the levels of WBC, neutrophils, NLR and PLR inflammatory indicators in the ICP group were significantly higher than those in healthy pregnant women (p < 0.001). The PA and lymphocytes of the ICP group were significantly lower than those of the normal group (p < 0.001). ROC curves showed that ALT and the NLR had higher predictive value for ICP. The GGT, TBA and NLR of pregnant women with ICP in the preterm group were significantly higher than those in the term group, and the combined NLR and TBA had a certain predictive value for preterm birth., (© 2022. Objectives: This study aimed to develop a Chinese version of the brief Sleep-Associated Monitoring Index (SAMI-B), and examine its psychometric properties among pregnant women., Methods: This cross-sectional study conveniently recruited 665 pregnant women from two tertiary hospitals in Shandong, China; 110 completed a retest survey within two or three weeks after completing the baseline questionnaires. The scale was developed following established guidelines. Participants completed the SAMI-B, SAMI, Insomnia Severity Index, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Pre-Sleep Arousal Scale, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 Scale. Psychometric evaluation included reliability (internal consistency, test-retest reliability) and validity (construct, item and concurrent validity; and diagnostic accuracy)., Results: The Chinese SAMI-B demonstrated uni-dimensionality construct, appropriate item fit and functioning; acceptable internal consistency (McDonald's ω = 0.917) and test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation = 0.736). It was significantly correlated with the SAMI (correlation coefficient = 0.765，P < 0.001) and other sleep-related measurements (correlation coefficients = 0.412-0.638, P s  < 0.001). The SAMI-B displayed a comparable area under the curve (0.739, 95% CI: 0.703-0.772) with the SAMI in detecting insomnia symptoms. The optimal cutoff point (18) presented a sensitivity of 0.765 and a specificity of 0.615 in distinguishing individuals with and without insomnia symptoms. Phthalates have been shown to have adverse effects on neurodevelopment, which may be gender-specific. However, the association between prenatal mixed exposure to phthalates and children's neurodevelopment remains inconsistent. We measured 15 prenatal serum phthalate levels and evaluated children's neurodevelopmental indicators using Gesell Developmental Schedule (GDS) (n = 750). Generalized linear regression was fitted to examine the association. Among boys, mono-2-ethyl-5-hydroxyhexyl phthalate (MEHHP) had adverse effects on gross motor [odds ratio (OR): 7.38, 95% confidence interval (CI):1.42, 38.46]. For gross motor in boys, joint effect was discovered between mono-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (MEHP) and MEHHP. Moreover, synergistic effects were found for MEHP with vanadium and cadmium, and antagonistic effects for MEHP with magnesium, calcium, titanium, iron, copper, selenium, rubidium, and strontium. We did not find statistically significant relationships in girls. In the 1st trimester, adverse effects were identified between mono-2-ethyl-5-oxoyhexyl phthalate (MEOHP) and adaptation (P = 0.024), and monomethyl phthalate (MMP) with social area (P = 0.017). In the 2nd trimester, MEHHP had adverse effects on social area (P = 0.035). In summary, we found boys may be more vulnerable to the neurotoxicity than girls in gross motor, and we also discovered the detrimental effects of phthalates on children's neurodevelopment in the 1st and 2nd trimesters. Therefore, the supplementation of appropriate elements in the 1st and 2nd trimesters may help reduce the adverse effects of phthalates on children's neurodevelopment, especially among boys., (© 2022. In recent years, China's "lottery culture" has developed vigorously. Moreover, the investment participation rate of Chinese families in the formal financial market is low, whereas that in the informal financial market is high. Is there a certain relationship between "lottery culture" and family financial decision-making? If so, what is the underlying mechanism? Based on the 2017 CHFS data and lottery sales data of provinces, this study explores the impact of "lottery culture" on household participation in the formal and informal financial markets and the diversity of household financial portfolios. Results show that "lottery culture" can impede household participation in the formal financial market and the diversity of household financial portfolios while promoting household participation in the informal financial market in China. Furthermore, we analyze two channels of "lottery culture" impacts on household financial decisions: (1) risk attitude and (2) human capital. Introduction: The disadvantaged socioeconomic status could have accumulated negative effects on individual. In the Chinese context, studying subjective and relative poverty is more important under the implementation of the Targeted Poverty Alleviation campaign. This study aims to provide evidence of the relationship between the duration of subjective poverty and both physical and mental health among Chinese adults, using nationally longitudinal data from 2010 to 2018., Materials and Methods: Data were extracted from a nationally representative survey database-the China Family Panel Study (CFPS). The total sample size contains 12,003 adults, with 3,532 in the urban area and 8,471 in the rural area. Self-rated health and depressive symptoms were set as indicators of physical health and mental health, respectively. The duration of subjective poverty was measured by self-rated income level in the local area from 2010 to 2016. A series of ordinary least square regression was adopted to measure the relationship between duration of subjective poverty and health., Results: For the urban residents, the average duration of subjective poverty is 1.99 time points, while 1.98 time points for the rural residents. Net of objective poverty, duration of subjective poverty has a significantly negative association with individual's self-rated health in the rural sample (Coef. = -0.10, p < 0.001). Compared with those who have not experienced subjective poverty, the self-rated health score of people who experienced four time points is likely to decrease by 0.54 in the rural area and 0.30 in the urban area. In terms of mental health, 1 unit increase in the duration of subjective poverty is related to 0.15 unit increase in Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale-8 (CES-D8) scores in the urban sample and 0.46 in the rural sample. Compared with those who have not experienced subjective poverty, the CES-D8 scores of people who experienced four time points are likely to increase by 1.47 in the rural area and 0.95 in the urban area., Conclusion: A longer duration of subjective poverty has a cumulatively negative effect on Chinese residents' physical and mental health, especially in rural area.
