This article intends to approximate the different concepts involving education and what has been occurring with Chilean education in the current democratic model. Based on the fact that such model did not state an educational transformation line that could break, to a certain point, the scheme established by the military dictatorship in 1980, the Chilean government had to gradually assume a distancing from education. This fact affected the population with lower income and its consequences would definitely become evident sooner or later. Based on eleven force-ideas from A. J. Colom and L. Núñez (2005) «Teorías e Instituciones contemporáneas de la Educación», a reflexive análisis is made with the intention of contributing a critical view to the current state of our education and to the role teachers have to adopt in what is considered a crisis thought to be unresolved. It is fundamental to revilalize the role of institutions and teachers in order to recover the credibility and trust of the younger generations. This is necessary, not to avoid conflict, but because we have the responsibility of the country we are constructing, but that we also leave as a legacy. Another contribution are the key words in this work, which not only seek to remain in a reflexive state, but also to be considered in the daily tasks involved in teaching and education.
