A preprint abstract from biorxiv.org discusses the presence of synthetic organic chemicals, such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and industrial compounds, in marine ecosystems along the central and southern coast of Chile. The study collected samples of surface water, bottom water, porewater, and sediment, and detected a total of 83 chemicals in surface water, 71 in bottom water, 101 in porewater, and 244 in sediments. The dataset provides valuable information on the mode of action and molecular targets of these chemicals, contributing to the understanding of pollution in coastal areas of the Global South. The research has not yet undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
