This monographic issue explores the conversation between Italian and Anglophone psychoanalytic worlds, specifically focusing on the development of psychoanalytic Field Theory in Italy. It highlights key moments in this conversation, such as Antonino Ferro's keynote address at the 2009 IPA meeting in Chicago and the collaboration between Ferro and the Boston Group for Psychoanalytic Studies. The issue also discusses the establishment of the Psychoanalytic Field Theory book series and the publication of "Reading Italian Psychoanalysis," which introduced non-Italian-speaking analysts to the rich history and cultural interpretations of Italian psychoanalytic thought. The issue aims to provide a historical account of the development of Italian Field Theory and introduce readers to important figures in Italian psychoanalysis who have contributed to its growth.
